Great for learning what products work best on what kinds of hair and how to understand how the product line work and how to prescribe to your clients. This hair care B-Corp is a great line and smells really nice as well. No parabens, sulfates, or tested on animals.

I’m a educator and believe in sharing what I know.

Hi, okay, so i'm here to tell you about dobbiness - and this is the product line called more insight. It'S got 23 different parts to the line, so i think within the it's pretty large, there's something for all kinds of textures. If you want curly hair straight hair, smooth bouncy texture hold, you want, you know, mohawks, do you want like real, structured, pc, short hairstyles um? You can pretty much create what you need um throughout the whole line. So a couple things i like to first point out is the packaging is beautiful, so we're going to thank marie vittori, who is in italy, who works for dobbiness? Who is the artist for daveness and she creates all the beautiful packaging or, i should say, the art on the packaging? Another really cool factor is that they most of these, except for the aerosol cans. They come in a little package. So all of these pomades um, the creams they all come wrapped up, and so, when somebody goes and buys it and takes it home, they get to unwrap their own present. And if they're, very careful, there's a beautiful art on the back side and it kind of tells a little bit about how they can use the product at home. So it might have one or two different ways to style and maybe how much they need to use to create the look. So that's a fun little extra little like um, surprise for them. So when we're trying to figure out how strong of a product do, we need we're gon na look at the packaging, so on the back of every bottle, there is these little circles and these circles are gon na. Tell you the strength now. This has five circles. They all have five circles, and this has four x's. Four x's means it's going to be on the stronger side, so our strongest we have actually is the strongest holds the extra strong hairspray. It actually has five plus an extra x, which means it's going to glue the hair down. So that's our strongest and our least strongest has zero. So there are no x's no hold at all pure shine, pure definition. The shimmering mist is great just right in before. After during whatever you want, so that's going to be your first identifier on if you're looking for holds and how much hole do you need how much structure are you looking for then we're going to talk about texture? Are we going to get going for straighter, smoother hair? Are we going for curl control bounce, so you know identifying what you're looking for is going to give you your next, where to go so we're going to talk about all the pomades first here there is five pomades um dry, wax pomade medium hold strong holds a Finishing gum so within i think, of shorter hair, maybe a little for longer. Hair depends on how you use the product, but those stronger waxes and like the fours and the five x's you know we're probably gon na do more of like a textured, shorter hairstyle, where we're gon na be sticking hair up, defining it um creating, maybe like fauxhawk Or something where you want the hair to stick up and not to fall, so you have quite a variety here, and the finishing gum is really great too, because you can use it on longer. Hair, if you like, or if you want to you, know, weigh some flyaways down, you can really play and mold really cool shapes with them. Next, i want to talk about the size of the packaging, for these products now you're going to notice. This is, these are cute teeny little, you know like little packages here and then we have like our bigger thicker heavier weight ones. Look how little this one is so what's gon na first tell us on how to use the product is the size, the packaging? So if the package is pretty tiny like this one, we're gon na use a very small amount, because a little bit is going to go a long way. This product right here has one little x sure it's not meant for hold it's it's very light, but it's the invisible serum. So you can kind of go in and really piece. The hair together um a tiny little bit's going to go a long way. So we really don't want to overdo that one, because if we do first we're wasting product and second of all, they might be on overload where you need to wash it so little little is more more means more. So if it's a big package, you can use more, this one is the texturizing dust right, texturizing dust, yes and that's something we're going to sprinkle into the hair. Maybe something is finer hair like myself to create some volume. Some holds it has three x's. So there's definitely going to be some hold. It'S going to be those that fine dusted powder, we're going to shake it in and create grip, and it's going to make the hair big, but not greasy right, because it's a powder, so those are great so think small. Think start with a small amount, and this is a dust that's going to be sprinkling in and this one's going to be on your fingers, maybe a dime, maybe half a dime, maybe a dime is too much that one definitely has strength to it. So let's talk about these three here they are um, light to light medium and stronger, so one a two and a four. So this would be something that we use on a lot of clients for smoothing the hair down the relaxing fluid. I, like the relaxing moisturizing fluid i like to run that moisturizing that word, because they have the moisture factor built into the product. So it's not going to dry any of the hair out, which is great because sometimes people think products dry, their hair out and they're. Like trying to keep it, you know as healthy as possible and looking hydrated and all that, so they don't need to worry about that, but this one's going to be great for for smoothing the hair so taking you know curly to straight now. If that that's a great product, that's not strong enough because they need holds then we can build into the stronger holds um. You can mix and match all of these products, so you don't just have to use it. Maybe you're thinking. I need it straight. I just go to this one. Well think that maybe i want to build a couple products together to create the look i want in the end. It doesn't just have to be a one and done product. Maybe you want volume on the base. You want smoothness here. Uh, maybe you want to polish it in the end, so it's okay to mix and match and cocktail these together, okay, so the stronghold one this one i like to use this one in a lot of ways. You could use this in conjunction with the curls. Maybe you want you wanted to hold. Maybe you have a shorter hair. You really need to work it in, and the pomades are too thick to actually work through the hair you're able to work this in a little bit. So this is a great product, a universal product, just because it says stronghold cream gel doesn't mean that it's just gon na like helmet, the hair down like. Maybe you want to strengthen up another product because you like how it works into the hair and you know think think, bigger. Think more, there's more to it. There'S much more inside the product kind of catchy um. So then you have the medium hold paste. Pliable paste again create a little bit more structure. It'S got a two x's, so it's not super strong, but it's great now we're gon na work into some of our styling products. Um curl texture, this one actually doesn't have any texture oil non-oil, it's a great pre like a base. It'S liquid. You can hear it um a little a little. You can actually use a lot, so maybe the hair drinks it up. It'S a great like primer. It'S a great softener, so you can it's not gon na. It'S not greasy. It almost feels like a water which i think makes sets this apart from other products. That'S why it's called oil non-oil. It'S like oil, but it's not greasy. It'S great! Then we have our stronghold or medium hold. Molding gel three x's great for curl texture holds um short, hair long hair. It doesn't matter uh the curl building serum. You know. That'S got two x's great for bigger thicker hair. You can work a lot of product in maybe you're building that in with something stronger, maybe you're, not we have our salt spray. Everybody loves a good salt spray. We love how it creates texture, not much hold to this one. It only has a one. So it's not gon na do a whole lot in terms of like a hairspray, but it's gon na create that texture that's workable. Maybe you wan na create separation or pieciness. Maybe you want to blow dry it in to create fullness. I mean there are different ways. You can use a salt spray, their newest product is the texturizing serum, and this one has two um. I like to think of this almost like, i feel like it, has more of a a powdery finish, which means it's very light like it's soft. It creates texture. It almost fills it in a little bit and creates a fuller effect great for scrunching in i like how it doesn't weigh it down. It'S so lightweight, it's a smaller bottle, so we're not going to use a whole lot we're going to be careful as we apply and kind of go until we're. Like that's the perfect amount i like it. I have finer hair and i find if i scrunch it in it kind of fills in the holes. I like the texture. It gives me a little bit more roughness because my hair is so slippery, so it kind of fill it in that way too. We have two mousses, so we have our curl moisturizing mousse and the curl moisturizing is great for fine hair great for creating uh texture great for fine curls. I like to apply this one where i scrunch it in personally, but you can use it any way. You, like you know you find what works for you and you figure out your system, and then we have the volumizing mousse the boost, the volume boosting mousse, which is probably my one of my top sellers, because i have lots of clients who, like to blow their Hair out, but they like fullness and i like to put this um at the base and maybe use something else through the ends. But i really like to create the structure and hold both of the mousses. Have um three holds so they've got the strength um, but it's all about how you wan na work it in. I find the um the curl. It'S almost it's silkier right. It has a silky softness to it. So, even though it's got hold in structure, which is great when i do my hair curly because it holds it, but it's silky, looking it's not too wet looking, i scrunch it in it holds, and it's not crunchy. So there's no crunch factor happening at all and the volume mousse is so great because you can actually slide your brush through the hair. Some mousses i found in the past where you want mousse, but you can't put your brush through it, and this creates such a beautiful shine once you blow it through, but you see the structure that it gives you so wonderful products. These are. These two are really special to me: the invisible, no gas spray. Really you can work that through wet or dry. It gives it structure um, you can build it. It'S only got two x's, so it's not got a lot of hold to it, but i feel like, if i'm doing an updo or something and i'm not sure when i'm ready yet to like hold it down. But i want to create a stiffness that i can. I can i can move it and i can keep playing with it that one's great and if i want a little, this one actually only has two as well, but the dry texturizing spray. I feel like this almost has like this powdery effect to it as well. It fills it in great for fine hair great for multiple purposes. I love using an iron with this, i feel like it holds it, and it gives me the fullness, so it doesn't just crunch down like when you put heat on hair and it just like it. Just becomes this like hard piece i can like play with it and it fill it back out, but it really holds, and it has like that memory, so the next day can kind of like comb it through and it really holds it down really nice. Then we have our three hairsprays medium, strong and then extra strong, so don't use the extra strong. Unless you don't want it to go anywhere. It is glue. If you want a little bit more molds the medium, you can still comb it through um you're, still being able to get a little. You know you can reform with it. The strongholds i find is you can still put your fingers through it. It'S not too crazy. I think their hairsprays are fabulous. I highly recommend them get turn your clients onto them. I know people are weird about hair sprays. Their hair sprays are amazing and doesn't flake. So the fact there's no flake even better. They also have a no bounce. I'M sorry. They have the bounce factor, so you're gon na get a lot of balance, which means you're not going to get it's not going to weigh the hair down. So as you layer, your products in it still has a lightness to the product, which is great because they're not going to get that greasy, really junked up feeling the hair is still going to feel very lightweight and moldable. So it's nice that the technology they have in the ingredients are really there to support the style that you're trying to give your clients - and i feel like with having 23 products in the line. You can pretty much do anything, you need and it's it's awesome and you know everything is recyclable. The the print is not made with your typical ink, so everything is, you know as clean as it can be and because davines has the reforestation program, the aerosols they know they have a little carbon footprint. So they have. You know they're replanting trees, um they're, also taking plastic out of the mediterranean, so they're doing they're doing their part um to help you know the the carbon in the air, so they can then feel good about giving us sustainable beauty, and that is more inside. I hope you had a great time today and you are excited to get back in the salon and create some new looks thanks.

Elliott Carter: Such calming energy, and this helped me decide on the strong gel cream! I especially like how you mentioned that it would work into longer hair, cause I know in the past I've struggled to get pomade/clay into my hair when it's more than 5 inches and then it falls flat anyway

jackson roberts: You should add a timeline, of which products you use at what time.

SH K: Thanks for the detailed explanation.

Lama: Thank you! This was very helpful.

Michelle’s La Cucina: What is your favorite combination styling products for curly hair? I was thinking about trying the curl gel oil… my curls are in the 3’s.

Gatto Attilio caza moscas: Thanks! Love your hairstyle
