Hey guys, I'm back with another discussion, hair stylist and how they've lost their mind they're off their rocker y'all like I just do not, but before we hop into today's video a lot of your favorite products on merriamhampton.com have restocked, and you already know that I always Give you guys a 25 off coupon code use the code YouTube fam at checkouts, and you get everything on this site for 25 off for the first 24 hours that this video goes alive. I also have super exciting news. We just came out with our newest ebook. The healing power of herbs, this ebook, is going to teach you all of the Herbal Healing Basics: how to use herbs for your health, your body, advantages and disadvantages of herbal medicine and much more. You can get it now in the ebook section of merriamhampton.com. You know I did my wash and go with these two products, my I first ever leave-in hair conditioner and our hair growth gel okay. So, let's hop into the discussion, I think that this has been a problem for a few years now um. What with? What'S going on with these hair stylists and these crazy crazy rules and these crazy and same prices, um getting your hair done at the salon is a luxury experience and and to me to me anything that you don't do yourself is a luxury okay. So I understand that you have to charge your worth and with what's going on with the inflation and just in the in this day and age, like everything is going up, the prices of everything is going up, so you have to, of course, do the same um, But what I will say is that a lot of times we are not getting the luxury experience that we deserve. I found a good stylist, I'm definitely willing to pay the price um. Of course, if you're on your feet for eight hours, doing my braids or whatever, I'm willing to pay, but if you're talking about come with the hair flat out your hair straight or I can't braid it like all these crazy rules, you are unlicensed you're doing it Out of your house, like you, got your kids running around in the background, it's super late to the appointment like you're like three hours late to that freaking appointment, um literally, my sister had just gone through this. She had got her braids done, and the girl literally was like five hours late to her appointment because she had like ran off to fight somebody else, and I just think his man unprofessional for you to like. Have all these rules be super late? And then you want to charge me an arm and a leg like make. It make sense. It makes no sense like for the cost of braids, like 500 plus, I feel like I should be getting a luxury experience I feel like. I should be able to sit down in the salon. Go into the salon, be served, champagne, you know what I mean like get a scalp massage. You know for you to braid my hair and do it like. Do it up well and not even with braids, because I feel like with braids like okay, the price is, you know? Sometimes you know um. If you do a great job, it's sometimes worth it, but if it's like basic stuff, like a silk press or like a ponytail like y'all charging like 300 for a freaking ponytail a status gon na last a week like what you know. What I'm saying like that makes no sense to me. It makes no sense, you know, like I'm literally, not getting any type of luxury experience and I feel, like our children and our daughters are not gon na. Have that same experience that we had as kids going to the salon and just like a great like a memory they're not gon na, have that because of the unprofessionalism that is going on when you're charging me a hundred dollars more because I have thick long hair. Like it's, not okay, okay, like it's, given that you don't know how to do hair at all, because having thick healthy long hair should be a good thing, but I'm gon na penalize for it like it has to be a certain length and then your hair can't Be too short because that's gon na be a problem as well. Your hair, at least has to be an inch long, or at least has to be three inches long for me to do this style or whatever, like huh. You know I feel like that, continues to do it because we let them get away with it. How did it get to this point? How does how does it get to this point? I personally have not got my hair done from from a stylist, and I don't know how long like I don't know how long, because I'm not about to deal with the nonsense that goes on and a lot of the time. Even the booking process is just too hard to do like. Why do I have to like go through all this to even get an appointment, okay, y'all talking about deposits and stuff deposits, almost the time, if you think about a deposit that should go towards the payment that shouldn't be on top of the payment, maybe doing someone's Hair wash and blow dry their hair care about the health of their real hair. That'S underneath these protective styles. So I don't know I don't know, what's going to needs to be done, but these people are scamming y'all. They are definitely scamming. Y'All they're not giving you any type of um professional experience and and I'm all for black businesses, I'm a black business owner myself and I know how it is. I know how hard it can be, and sometimes you know customers are a little bit harder on us, because we are one of them, but at the same time you want to be accommodating to the people. You don't want to be rude and you don't want to have like a snotty attitude when someone reaches out to you or or whatever the case may be so yeah. That'S all I have to say about that topic today, because don't get me on a roll y'all like um. That'S all I got to say about that. I want to hear you guys thoughts Below in the comment section, so we can chat um if you're not already subscribed to my channel hit the Subscribe button down below so give me notified whenever I post a new video hit the Bell, so notifications will come straight To your phone, you can follow me on any of my social media at Miriam J. Hampton and I'll see you guys next time, bye,

ladynefertitibk: I say learn it yourself, do it yourself, then teach your daughters. Has always been that way for me since the 80's.

Hanna Tadesse: Girl!!!! and all these rules come washed and blow dried. Late 10 min additional charge, yet 9 times out of 10 they're the once that are late. I feel since covid hair stylists, make up artists, nail techs have just cracked up their prices.

Jannisha Townsend: In this day and age I’ve been learning to do everything myself that’s why I follow you and other YouTubers. I recently polished my own nails because they wanted $10 for a polish change. No ma’am.

jazzy j: It’s sooo hard these days to find a decent stylist . They charge way too much and sometimes even cancel last minute ! A lot of these stylists can’t even grow natural hair all they can do is cut and do weaves . And the natural hair stylists are worse . I’ve seen $300+ for a wash n go talking about it comes with a curly consult . They will charge $100+ for a silk press and not even deep condition your hair smh and charge more if your hair has tangles. And don’t get me started on the braiders who aren’t licensed cosmetologist which is why they can’t wash condition and blow dry your hair before slapping those high tension braids in your head . It’s a mess

Ebony Keys: Hunny this is why I’m the only one doing my hair and thank God for the many YouTube videos that teach you different styles and things that you don’t know if we stop patronizing these so called stylists they’ll probably think about a lot of unnecessary practices they have

NaturallyRoro: The only way I would CONSIDER paying that much to do my hair is if I’m making well OVER six figures, the stylist has all her credentials, the health of my hair is priority and she treats my hair like fine rare silk

phatjazzyj: This one lady on tick tock braids hair and includes hair breakfast and lunch depending on how many hours it takes. I wouldn't mind paying for that and her braiding area is separate from the rest of her house and very clean and nice looking

MzDaughtry 619: This video was right on time. I hadn't straightened my hair for 2 years and was looking for a shop and everyone was charging an arm and a leg. Good thing my man's cousin is also a hair dresser. Thank you for this video

Ashley Martinez: What used to be a side hustle, people turned into a full-time job, living 3 or 4x out their means. But yet skill level doesn't change. So the way I see it, ask around. Don't go to the first "stylist".

JW: I got tired of the attitude, double booking, 8 hour braiding sessions. I bought me a beautiful box braided wig and satin wig cap to protect my edges. I get the same look for less money, headaches and zero hair loss. My natural hair is healthy and 21 inches long. Protect your pocket and your hair my Sisters.

InternetGirl: In New York it’s wild too! They chargin $600 for tape in extensions, $250+ for sew ins and both have NO hair included; and clients must come washed and blow dried! HOW SWAY?!

Catalina Hunter: I work at a hair store and Maryam right it’s insane I see a lot of stylist everyday and they constantly go up on prices and really it’s a rip off I learned to go my own hair and it’s thriving in my day they cared more about health not so much any more one stylist I asked for a silk press she charged a hundred just to touch my hair due to the length so I do my own haven’t been to a stylist in 4 years

nowthatimlocd: That’s why I’ve been doing my hair myself for years because going to someone is too much and it’s actually been thriving for years that way I’m glad you talked about this ✨

Katrin Threet: That’s why my daughter learned to braid her own hair and she does it better than salons that sneak 5 inch braids in the back of your head!

Leos Kiss33: I have been thinking this for years now….. I’m so blessed and thankful that I learned how to wash, deep condition, and style my own hair. I’ve been doing my own hair now for about 4 years now, in the summer I wear wash n go and is winter I wear it silk pressed

Eb’s Race: I have learned so much from Youtube university. A lot of styles that I would have paid for in the past for my daughter I just watch a million vids until I get it. Practice, practice, practice.

Katrina Cornish: Agreed!!! I believe in paying for their time but, the prices and lack of service provided not mathing‼️

CrownContent Publications: It was bout time someone really openly talked about this. I have all daughters always willing to pay to get their hair done ... But these new aged stylist and their attitudes I can't Do. I do their hair myself

CurlyNella1011: I use to feel them charging more for length and thickness of hair but it makes sense because you use more product and that’s why they charge more. What I don’t get is the not wash and blow drying thing. They should automatically be included The prices are crazy. I haven’t had my hair done in almost 11 years. I have even heard they are charging $300 for a wash and go. I know people struggle with it, I don’t and don’t think it’s that difficult to be charging that much. I went to school for cosmetology and realized that in the last part it wasn’t for me and by then it was too late. They waited to the last part to tell us only 30% of people survive in that industry and that it takes I believe 2 to 3 years to make a profit when you open your salon. I was like oh hell no, they got me

DaNica: Bunch of new age scam artists. I saw where some hair braiders are now charging to part your hair! Like what

Apphia Perkins: It definitely gives me internalized racism and texturism vibes.... And they're really just saying, "I don't actually know how to properly care for and style black hair," in multiple ways. Not to mention they're *SO RUDE* Absolutely no customer services skills or professionalism.

Priscilla: Last week I went to this hair appointment for braids. They told me 1. They didn’t WANT to do the style 2. My hair was too long. The black community needs serious HELP. As an African since when do we pay so much for braids? Wigs installs used to be the expensive stuff. Braids was a simple things that anyone could get. Now it’s a luxury. My first resort would be to get a wig on and wait and then the same people will clown you for not taking care of your real hair “as they wish” but those stylists won’t even bother to do your hair. They want medium length max so they can get a LOT of money quickly.

Katrin Threet: I paid over $100 for a relaxer, the stylist used super/extra strength on my fine thin hair. I am now natural and it was fine until now, it has thinned out.

Sammy: Where I'm from, you don't have to straighten your b4 getting braids. I don't know how they can call themselves natural hairstylists and they can only braid straight hair.

Crafted By Catiya Marie: I have been struggling for five years !!! I’m excited to try your two new products

Blogged By Brents: Queen.....They can keep those BRAID'S I've been braiding, locking and relaxing hair for ok very 20 year's and I thought I was charging Top-notch price's

Carlaesteful: I am natural, I wash my hair and daughters hair for free. Lol I make my own soap bar and conditioner bar. Both are safe and I know what’s in it. My hair is thriving and scalp is healthy…I leave my hair alone. My hair is well comb and smell good when I go out. We need to go back to that.

Kay Kay: I feel like the natural hair stylist are also overcharging. Asking $250 for a wash n go and trim is insane to me

Nancy Monroe: YouTube saved me! I haven't been to a salon in over 11 years, and don't plan to go back ever. The last appointment I had, my stylist was almost 2 hours late. When I was leaving because I couldn't wait any longer (I actually had an event to go to), the front desk lady actually tried to stop me. The nerve!!!

Ossie R: My stylist is in Beverly Hills so I know her rent is high but when I see her it’s one on one, clean salon and high end products. She allows 2hrs just doing my hair and addressing any issues that I might have or anything new I want to try. Nice music, water or tea and she’s very professional.

MJsLiberianGyrl: It is RIDICULOUS!!! I normally do my own hair but every blue moon, I’ll go back to my old school beautician to do my hair because she doesn’t have all the crazy rules and crazy prices.

RDB: I agree that hair stylist be asking for the most BUT I feel like/assume that SOME of them are like that from experiences with terrible customers. "Rules" don't come out of nowhere. But like I said, for the most part, they asking for too damn much

Danyelle Sheridan: This is why I went natural

Jor Love: I did my own hair since i was 14 years old and i'm 33 now.. I only go to a hairstylist when i want a trim thats it! Make youtube your best friend and learn how to do your hair. Practice is everyting. Buy yourself a doll head and start from there.

Ms Ace: 500 dollars. depends on where you live and what you are having done. Hair salons can be expensive. The last time I have not been to a salon in 12 years. 500 is a little inflated, blown up, overrated, and ready to pop. Not for me.

Lanese M: Ms Maryam Hampton this is the first time I heard about your hair care line was checking to see if you have samples for people to try far as hair growth products and everything

Jasmine Miles: I couldn’t agree more! Well ventilated

It's All Good: I thought I was the only one that recognized the insanity.

Gina Jones Channel: I can understand the inches of their real hair. Some hair I just simply can't grip without pulling the shyt out if. I'm not a tight braider so I'll turn them down.

sunni james: Yes it’s the new scam. Learn to do your own hair it’s not hard to do. Look for tutorials.

MJ: Everything you said is so true

Amy Jon: This WHOLE VIDEO is on POINT!!!

ANECIA WATSON: Tell it! These folks are out of their minds. I'm not lining y'all pockets and going broke for these piss poor services

Kacey R: That’s why I do my own braids, washes, trims, extensions or whatever. Everyone over charges in Southern California.

Marie Barker: Your hair is so pretty! ❤️

Lakeema Earth: My salon charged me 65 for a wash and set and then 90 for medium braids

Tyson H: Thank you for this video.

Katie Breland: Totally agree ❤it’s maddest

Tribe Jamette: Your sister should have cancelled that appointment after first hour. Five hours late is unacceptable.

Marylin Nicholas: You so right girl

Kelsey T: Found a curly hair stylist I wanted to go to until I saw she charges 150.00 a hr to do your curls. Now she know damn well ppl with thick curly hair going to be in her chair for more than a hr. She is out of her mind . so needless to say I won’t be trying her out.

R Davis: Yessssssss!!! Its ridiculous

Diana Mathis: When some hairstylists try to be honest and charge a fair price, some people think she is not a good stylist because she is not overpriced.

Tyson H: The booking process is the worst.

urnkimshouse: Like you said NOT LICENSED!

🕊JP: God Loves you so much, don’t be afraid to call out to him in your times of need he’s always with you! even when it doesn’t feel like it ❤️

Melat: wait, can we get an update on your burst implants ? How are you liking them? Are they causing you any pains and so on. Please please

Diamond Gilliam: Have a great week

Phy Foster: ❤️❤️❤️

Marie Barker: Everyone please make sure you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour! Jesus is coming soon! Please don't be left behind! Repent and accept Jesus! JESUS LOVES YOU! John 3:16, 2 Peter 3:9, Luke 5:32, Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9, Matthew 4:17, Mark 16 16-18, Revelation 20:15
