Hello guys so i'm gon na be kind of whispering in this video, because my son is sleeping. This is gon na be kind of like an asmr moment here, unintentional asmr, but today's video is all about how i oil my hair. So yes, i oil, my hair. I started doing this consistently about a month and a half ago, and i have oily hair and oiling. My oily hair has made a huge difference in the health and growth of my hair. You are probably confused, because why would someone with oily hair want to oil? Their hair, wouldn't that just make it more oily today i am going to be explaining all of it to you. So let's begin these oils that i use like jojoba oil and coconut oil. They have antimicrobial and antibacterial properties. They help to keep your skin smooth. They can help to promote hair growth and those are all amazing qualities to have in an oil, and there are a few of the reasons why i like to use oils on my hair. But the number one reason why i oil my oily hair is because it keeps my scalp clean, and i know this definitely sounds counterintuitive, but bear with me so like oil cleansing on my face, which is basically when you're massaging oils on your face and they help To lift up like makeup or sebaceous filaments, i've made a few videos on that on my channel already massaging my scalp with oils, just like oil cleansing on my face. It helps to lift up any dead skin dandruff. It helps to release hair from the hair follicle that has shed so that a new hair can begin growing. So then, when i go into shampoo, it's much easier to clean and get rid of that buildup, since the oiling has already started that process. So, with shampoo you're, using the cleansing agents in the shampoo to clean your scalp, but with oiling at least the way that i do it. It'S kind of like i'm manually, lifting up the buildup from my scalp with the help of the oils and because the oils are already beneficial. It is okay for me to oil, my hair for like five minutes as long as i'm gentle with shampoo. You don't want to shampoo that long, because that would be way too harsh for your hair. Okay. So now we're going to get into the step-by-step process of how i oil my hair so step one. I start with day three or four hair whatever the day is that i'm going to wash my hair? That'S when i start with the oiling process - and i brush it out with a wooden hair brush again. This is something i've talked about a lot in my channel. Basically, the wooden hair brushes. They help to evenly distribute the oils throughout the length of your hair so that they aren't as concentrated on the roots step. Two is, i take all of the oils that i'm using, except for the coconut oil and i dropped them onto a plate. So i use one dropper full of jojoba oil. I use one pump of castor oil and i use one tiny, tiny drop of rosemary, essential oil. The dropper for the rosemary oil is tricky. You have to be really quick or else you're going to get like two to three drops. The rosemary oil is really strong. As for why i use certain oils, i use castor oil because it's apparently great for hair growth. It also can help to promote good skin health. It can relieve dryness and just soothe skin inflammation. I use jojoba oil because it's non-comedogenic, so it will not clog your pores. It'S a lot lighter and thinner than castor oil. So when the two are mixed together, it makes applying the castor oil on my scalp a lot easier. I'Ve used jojoba oil on my face, like so many times in the past, so i know that this is an oil that my skin is used to. It doesn't irritate my skin at all and then same with castor oil and the rosemary oil. I use for two reasons: one it can help to promote hair growth and two. It is way too time consuming to make the rosemary oil at home that i made last year. So now i just use the essential oil from kliganik which, by the way, kliganik this is not sponsored at all, but i have been using their oils for years now, like four or five years, and this is a brand. I trust you can buy their oils on amazon. So, if you're, looking for like a good brand of oils, just click a neck is a great option. Also they're, affordable, so step. Three make sure that your hands are clean. You want to rub your fingers into the oils on the plate, make sure to mix them around as much as possible as your hand or as your fingers are like on the plate. Okay, so step number four, i rub my fingers together with and i massage my scalp and i do this in a back and forth motion on my roots. I can feel the little pieces of like stuff on my fingers. I say stuff because i don't know if it's like dandruff, i don't know if this is just like gross, not gross, it's just like kind of weird to think about, but it could be lint like my hair gets oily and who knows if there's something in the Air and it just lands on my hair, and i know that that sounds really gross, but it's just the reality of having oily hair. When you have oily hair like this, that type of stuff can occasionally get on your hair. So i can also see some hair shedding, which is a good thing, because these are hairs that have naturally shed, but the oiling helps them to release so that a new hair can grow. Then, when i go to shower there's like a lot less hair that i lose in the shower um - and i do this for like two minutes and throughout those two minutes, i continually go back to get more oil. I really like this plate method, because it's really really effective, making sure that you're not using too much product step five after i've oiled my roots and i've like gotten all the dandruff. If i have any you guys, can see like all of the dead skin. That has come off my scalp from the oiling, so once i'm done with that, then i use coconut oil on the ends of my hair, and i have a video on the specifics of why i use that why i use coconut oil, so i will link that Below um long story short: if your hair is high porosity, then coconut oil helps to fill the gaps so that there's less damage when you're washing your hair. The ends of my hair are high, porosity, i.e, they're more damaged. So that's why i oil the ends only to do this. I scoop some coconut oil and i rub it between my hands to melt it fully and then, once it's melted, i gently run my hands through the ends of my hair um. I use the praying hands method or where i just like put my the palms of my hands together and just like run it down the ends of my hair, or i will just do like the regular just like twist. The ends of my hair gently with the coconut oil step six, i just put my hair up in a bun with a clock lip, and i wait like an hour before i go to wash my hair, so i don't leave the oils in overnight just because i Feel, like the point, isn't really to leave the oils on my hair. The point is to sort of oil cleanse my scalp and prepare the ends with coconut oil so that they don't get as damaged when i'm washing my hair, neither of which require a lot of time to be effective, but the oils are beneficial for your scalp. So that's why i just leave it on for like an hour, then the very last step i wash my hair, so i don't always do this, but it can be helpful to wash your hair upside down like this after you have oiled it. First of all, it makes sure that the coconut oil is not going to get on your body. Coconut oil is commodogenic, which means that it is a poor clogging oil like obviously everyone's skin, is different, but for me it most definitely will clog my pores if it gets on my skin. Also washing my hair, like this, helps to make sure that all of my roots are fully cleansed, and if i don't shampoo like every inch of my scalp, then there will be a lot of oils left behind. So i shampoo twice only my roots and when the shampoo is rinsing down the length of my hair, it helps to rinse off any excess coconut oil. Then i condition the length of my hair, and that is it so that has been my full hair, oiling routine. I really hope that you guys enjoyed this video, i'm so happy to be oiling. My hair again, i feel like this is just well first of all, it's just so beneficial for your hair, but also it's just something that i can talk about in my videos, and i know that this is like accessible for everyone like a lot of the products. I talk about. I know that they're not available for my international followers but oils i feel like those are things that you can get pretty much anywhere. So let me know if you guys, like this video, do you oil, your hair? If you do, what oils do you use? Let me know in the comments below thank you guys so much for watching and i'll talk to you guys next time.

Abrie: This is literally such perfect timing I was just about to look up a good hair oiling routine

Vânia Lícia: I started using a mixture of oils on my scalp! Castor oil, pumpkin seed oil, rosemary essential oil, peppermint essential oil and tea tree oil! My hair falls way less and I don’t have any flakes or dandruff anymore! And because of the tea tree oil my hair takes a lot longer to get oily! And on the mids and ends I use coconut oil!! The best thing a ever did for my hair is using this oils!! ❤️‍♀️

chocoaquaduck: I've started oiling my hair for about a month now using the same combination of castor oil, jojoba oil and rosemary oil. I've seen a big improvement in my hair. My scalp doesn't get as dry and my hair doesn't get frizzy like it used it.

Rehmat Unisa: I tried your shower routine and it made my hair so silky and smooth...Thank you Audrey for making such helpful videos...I love your confidence and consistency..

jus jaz: I love what you mentioned about coconut oil clogging pores. I have curly hair and used coconut oil like 5 years ago when coconut oil was trending to use for curly hair and everything lol. It ended up causing damage to my scalp because it was clogging it. My hair ended up smelling bad and it took awhile to get the smell out. The smell even got stuck on my clothes it was bad... But anyway I love that you say you use it on your ends. We need someone to spread information about this because I feel like a lot of people say they just smoother their entire hair with it. and that realistically isn't good for everybody

Zoe Breeding: I’m definitely going to try the plate method, that’s genius! So far I’m just using castor oil on my roots, and grape seed oil on my ends instead of coconut oil, since I find it’s lighter on my fine hair, and it’s noncomedogenic, so I don’t have to worry about it getting on my scalp :) I do want to try the jojoba and rosemary oil sometime! Thanks for the vid!

Katherine Fuller: Couple of things to keep in mind, many oils are actually DRYING. Castor oil, tea tree oil, and others can dry you hair or skin. If you have an oily face or scalp, these would be a good choice. I have really dry hair and skin and so I don’t use any of these. I used to do OCM on my face back when I still had acne and castor oil and tea tree were two of the products I used to use on my oily face.

Kohinoor Akter: I started using Jojoba oil on the roots and Avocado oil on the ends (as I hv curly low porosity hair) for 3 weeks and it's been really effective

Parnika: I have the exact hair type as yours audrey. I've watched the coconut oil video where you said that heavy oils like castor or coconut isn't needed for oily hair, and i was like hold up- that's the EXACT mixture I've been using on my scalp. I was looking for rosemary scalp treatment after that but i can't find it anywhere in my country. The only thing i found was its essential oil and i thought that it maybe too strong and i didn't know how to use it until this video. I will definitely try this mixture out! I don't even know what the f I'd have done if your channel didn't exist lol :)♡

Dessy Zhelyazkova: Absolutely perfect. My hair is also oily, I wash it every other day because it looks awful on the 2nd day. I will definitely try oilying my oily hair too and see how it will affect it. Thanks!

t33 ☆: Yes yes and yes! I’m carribean and almost all of us use grease / oil on our scalp throughout the week. Not exactly the same as what you do but oiling really does help.

Anita Majumdar: These videos are so helpful, thank you for taking the time to make them and keep updating info on how to care for our hair! Question: do you reverse wash when you oil your hair?

Maddie Lee: This was the BEST hair oiling video I have ever watched!!!! THank you so much for such a great explanation and demo!

Shelly: I remember first doing coconut oil hair masks in high school because of AndreasChoice! To this day, I still use coconut oil for my hair & body

xXYxx: Also, great hair tip i learned is to put a hair mask on the ends for 3-5min right before you're about to wash them lifesaving tip for me

Ugly donut~: Thank you for the video Audrey! Amazing quality as always✨ I’d love to see a video of your favorite heat tools !

Kakashi Hatake: *Love you so much Audrey * *Keep up the great work!*

Caramel P: Hi Audrey! Could you please show us how you use Jojoba oil on your skin?! Oh and I recommend you try drinking matcha for 7 days straight because of all the skin and body benefits it has love your content❤

Joanna Marie ♥️: I’ve started to use rosemary oil in my second shampoo! It is very nice! And I’ve been using argan oil on my roots and coconut oil on my ends when I oil my hair

Heidi Solie: I have been using Crisan which has like 55 different oils in it. I had stopped because there was so much shedding when I did it and I was worried about thinning but I guess that is supposed to happen it helps them release makes sense thank you!

Saskia Z: Hey! Your videos are very helpful! Thanks very much! How often do you do the Oil Hair Routine in a week/month? Would be grateful for an answer! Best wishes ✨

callmekells: Do you feel like there’s ever oil left over even after shampooing twice? Which oil have you found that’s the easiest to shampoo out twice?

D. Dee 2003: I have long thick hair - after I wash it - it looks dry so I take 2 pumps of Palmer's Coconut oil and run it through my hands on the ends of my hair, then take the rest over the remainder of my hair - my hair is super shiny, not oily and is more manageable.

Marie: Guys don't brush your hair after you put the oil in, that can actually promote breakage since the hair is vulnerable from all the oils. Just brush before you put oil in

Mary: Hairstylist’s daughter here. Before you even start this journey, go to your dermatologist first and see if you’re allergic to many products. Your scalp’s health is the most important thing for healthier hair and hair growth. With that said, your dermatologist or even your hairstylist can figure out what kind of scalp you have and determine which products to avoid and use. But the most important thing to do is to moisturize your hair daily even if you have oily hair. Our hair releases moisture daily, and it best to lock in that moisture. So, consult the professionals first because you will benefit from it the longer run.
