Hey family welcome back to the channel. Thank you guys for coming back to spend time with me on this one. I want to appreciate you for watching. Thank you so much if you're, watching for the first time please subscribe like and share our videos also do well to check our playlist okay guys so so guys. I had a conversation with my mom about how she used to take care of my hair back in the 80s, because i used to have a lot of thick natural hair. So i wanted to know exactly what she did and she told me a very simple regimen that i'm about to share with you guys. So i'm going to be going back to old school guys to show you exactly some of these products that we have neglected. That are actually still working, so the very first thing i am going to do is to do a shampoo, i'm going to be using black soap because she said she used to use black soap guys. These are products that we all know about, but some people don't actually want to use it. They think that it doesn't work. It is less popular people. Don'T really tend to use it again too much because they think it doesn't really work with them to um. Stick on other diys thinking that they are better, but in this video guys, i'm just going to be showing you that these things, you can actually spend very little money like my mother did, and they have amazing, hair okay guys. So now i'm using black soap, natural black soap, i'm just dissolving it and um, i'm just deserving it to use as soap. So what i did is that i'm not going to add any oils, nothing, nothing on it. I just deserve it and i use it as such, because my mom said she just used to buy this soap. I just applied on my hair and just rinse. That'S it. She did not do anything. So i covered the soap and i like to dissolve you for one hour to dissolve, and after one hour that is highest okay, remember you have to put like very hot water on it. If you want it like boiling water, if you want it to dissolve fast. Okay guys so my mom said, if you are from africa guys my mom said there is this black soap that is used to stay black, they used to say back in the days, even in the 90s. I still remember that. So when i was a kid they used to put it in the box of plantain stock guys they tie it in the back of plantain soft stocks and they sell it in the market for as very low as um 100 cf in france. If you're from cameroon - and that is like less than less than a um one euro, very cheap and very effective, i remember that they used to wash our bodies with that soap as well. So after i deserve dissolve my soap, i'm just going to use it on her hair, okay, guys so i'm using it on my daughter's hair. So this is my daughter's hair guys i didn't i could not. I could not resist um moisturizing and pre-putting her hair, even though my mom said she didn't know anything about pre-puy. She just used to bring my hair soak, my hair with some water and just apply this soap, and she did not used to pat my hair into small sections and twist them, because she didn't even know anything about that. She would just apply this soap with my hair bulk and just wash it, and everything is tangled up. She do not know how to do what i am doing now guys so because i know that black soap is so drying. I decided to pre-poo, so the pre-post pre-poo pad is not in the regimen that she gave me okay guys. So this regard the pre-poo. The purpose of this video is to see if this, the ingredients that she was using back then can still actually work, because most people have tend to neglect these ingredients. We we want to use just the ones that we hear every day, that people say that they are good, forgetting that there are some very simple ones that can actually stick grow, our hair, alright guys. So i will apply the shampoo on her scalp. I walk it in massaging and then i bring it down to her. I bring it down to her hair, so some of you have been using um black soap can testify how amazing it is, but for the fact that it dries your hair. It dries your hair rips, your hair off of its natural oils, but it actually cleans your scalp, like it zip cleans your scalp and your hair right guys. So that's the purpose. That'S um! Why black soap is good, but because i didn't want you to like strip my daughter's hair. That'S why i pre-put her hair, with normally with our aloe vera, that we use every time aloe, vera and castor oil. That'S what we use almost every time for pre-wing right guys, so let me just bring that out that i did not use the soap very dry like that. As my mother said, she used to use on my hair okay. So once you apply everything just wash her hair and then you would take her to the bathroom and just rinse it out. This method is amazing in the winter guys, because you don't need to keep your other eye for a long time in the bathroom, with the cold and begin to run water down on her body, no matter how hot your house is, she they still tend to feel Cold because it shines, they say they are cold, even though the house is really hitting the house is really hot. They still see they are cold in the bathroom. So it's better to just do this style and usually you take her to the bathroom you just pour water on her and she's already out like like five minutes after she's out. So that's what i'm doing so. After finish, everything, like i said guys i'll just secure her head and take her to the bathroom for rinsing. So that's the first one guys that she said so. This is just like a very simple three steps, regimen that she gave me three-step wash day routine that she gave. So this is her hair after i rinse you guys, i haven't put anything so this is the. This is how her hair looks soft already and really moisturized. Her scalp is clean and satisfied with how clean her scalp is so it was already lit after i rinsed the high. It was hey. It was already relieved. It was time for her to go to bed. So i decided to just put her hair in the bun and then i continued the next day with the application of the conditioner. So for the next guys this this is the next day, and this is the conditioner that i'm going to be using. I went ahead and i took cholesterol guys because that's what my mom said she used to use on my hair. She said um back then, when you go to these saloon, these people who have saloons these women, wants to know they used to have a very big bucket of white cholesterol. She said the color used to be very white, and then they say they used to call it cholesterol and they say that you can actually buy it with any amount of money that you have. So when you have no matter how small your money is, you go there, they will measure a little bit and they will sell it to you, so she used to go and buy just what would be enough for my hair on that day and she would apply It on my hair, so i went online on amazon on all the sites that i can see to see. If i can even get something close to what she's saying why cholesterol that does not have name guys. She said the containers do not have any name. They just call it cholesterol, so i don't know so. I finally decided to pick up this one from um africa's best guys to say i'm not surprised. I am shocked. I have never used cholesterol before i have heard of it and i've seen people use it, but i have never thought of using it. I don't know why i've never crossed my mind, maybe because i'm always um, i'm always too into diys doing my own things, but guys to say that i am not amazed with this conditioner. I will be lying. It'S amazing. It softens the hair, that's what they say. The conditioner does they say: sometimes the hair stops breakage it um. It also makes your hair to grow faster, definitely but guys soften the hair that that i can testify my god, the type of moisture that this thing gives you. I am shocked and i'm happy that i asked my mom that question and i was asking her just just asking just to know and i got an idea to try to replicate what she used to do, and this is the result guys and i'm happy that i Bought this cholesterol, i will be buying some more to use on the days that i do not feel like doing hair. You know those days, you don't really feel like doing hair. You want something very, very quick. This is what i will be using. So i applied all on evienna's hair and, oh my god, guys it's amazing and something that is very cheap. I got mine on amazon. If you are wondering, then i i think it you can find in any local beauty supply store, because it's a product that um it's out there guys, but it's just that people don't tend to use it so much it's out there and some people. Some of us have been neglecting it like me. As i said, some of us have been neglecting it because we don't think that it's worth our time or you can actually grow our hair so but guys. I am happy that i bought cholesterol. It'S amazing! It softens your hair, it penetrates your strands guys and it really does what they said. It'S gon na do on your hair, so guys, if you're, enjoying the video please subscribe to the channel like this video and also share and also share with your friends and your families if you're watching it. You just came by us for the very first time. Please do not leave without clicking that subscribe button and also do want to check our playlist. We have amazing videos. Okay, so guys i applied the video sorry, i applied the conditioner and then kept it for an hour and i went a rinse and now i'm just going to moisturize again i picked up blue magic grease. The original version guys i did not take. I didn't want to take the carrots or the argon or the castor oil. I just wanted the original version like from the base when they started it, because this does not have any of those natural oils that we know about. My mom said she used to use grease on my hair, so she described um an oil that used to be in the bottle. So in you know, in a glass guys, you know like those of us who grew up in africa is going to they're going to understand what i'm saying you know like the type of glass that they used to sell like gary or rice or a good see. That'S pistache seed in the market. Yes, that's the type of glass. She said that they used to put like this um grease inside and it has a cover and then used to has this one very strong smell. So that's what she used to usually use if she does not have that she's going to use a vaseline. I didn't want to take vaseline guys. So this that's why i went and took um this um this one, which is also very cheap. So guys again, i was amazed because i've never used grease before on my children's hair on my hair. I have never bought it. I'Ve never used it. This is my very first time and i do not put no condi leaving conditioner on her hair. I just rinsed her hair, so her hair is damp. I, as a hair is done. I applied degrees, that's all so she just had some water in her hair and the grease and to tell you guys, look at her hair. I want you guys to be looking at it yourself. I don't want to be talking too much just like. I talk a lot guys. It'S amazingly soft. You see how the comb is good, just passing through her hair. Her hair is amazingly soft. Her hair feels so moisturized. Her hair feels shiny. Her scalp is just oh gosh guys this process is just amazing, you don't you don't want to stay without trying. It guys try this process. So you you buy like your your black soap for less than two euro. You buy um, you buy your your your cholesterol for about three euro and then you buy your grease for about three years, so you're spending less than 10 10 euro. For all of this to have healthy, beautiful hair, guys who said that natural hair was expensive and difficult to manage, you can see it for yourself guy. It is amazing, so i i was trying to go as close as possible to what my mother used to use in the 80s. Unfortunately, i could not get the exact products that she used to put on my hair, but i think this is as close as i could get and i'm happy with the results guys if they do not really disappoint me and i'm i'm serious guys, i'm going to Be buying some more grace also, when i don't feel like making my butters, i will just buy grease the reason i'm not bought any grease before guys is because i always make my butters, so i didn't think there was a need for me to buy grease so That, after trying this one you you guys saw that my bottle is really still full. I'M not even used it. I'M still. Venus has the first hair that i'm putting it on and um my god look at her hair guys. The thing is just moisturizing. The hair instantly just giving the hair some shine and amazing texture, so i don't think i'm gon na go back from this. My mom said my hair used to be very beautiful. She said um the products that she used to put people asked her. What she used and she would tell them they would not believe that that's what she's, using but sincerely that's what she used to use. She used to spend less than 500 franc cfe on my head, which is very small money guys. So after everything, this is her hair is looking guys. So after this i would do african trading, because my mom says my hair was almost always in africa and trading. Yes guys and it's true because all my pictures i used to see my hair on in african trading. Unfortunately, my pictures are left back at home in africa. I couldn't show you guys any of my baby pictures so guys. That is it. Let me know what you think about this: if you'll be trying these products, let me know if you're gon na also want me to post this hairstyle, and i will do just that stay blessed. Please subscribe and god bless

Demi: I think it is wonderful. It is everything I use. I never used black soap before but have been using it on my scalp for the last 5 months & my scalp is very healthy...it cleared up the sensitivity I was having. Good job! We were using Blue Magic (I use the green) & the cholesterol cream even back in the late 60s & 70s & it still works. I even infuse my cholesterol cream & make a deep conditioner. I'm 21 months natural...my hair started at the top of my eyebrow & now a little past my shoulders. This simple, inexpensive routine still works wonders.

Tahtahme's Diary: I went back to using grease in all our hair and I don’t regret it! Might need to go find some Pink Lusters too just to bring it all the way back

Jennifer: Old school hair care is the reason I NEVER lost my edges and baby hairs. But I never go with the trends I’ve always been the type to stick with what works.

mstcherie13: We also weren't changing our hair every week because of a trend. I think that's an underrated advantage to the old school way of doing hair. When we look back our hair took YEARS not weeks or months to grow. We don't have the patience!

Mrs. Adriann: I literally just had this conversation with myself the other day, "WHAT AM I DOING???!!" I realized that my hair was super long and thick as a child and my Mom who did her best as a Tom Boy only used TCB, Dax, hair grease, etc. So I'm going back to basics too. I currently have a ridiculous amount of products in my bathroom I can start my own online business. No longer overloading my hair and scalp!

Erin Perry: I asked my mom about 2 months ago what she did in the 90s to take care of my hair and keep it healthy. She said all she used was shampoo, conditioner, hair grease and made sure to style my hair. I went back to doing just that and my hair is so healthy I haven’t seen it this healthy in years.

S_ Boutté: I was just having this conversation with someone! My mother used Royal Crown hair grease and water on my hair in the 70's. I used Blue Magic hair grease and Luster's Pink hair lotion on my daughter's hair in the 90's. We both had thick, fat ,juicy rope ponytails! We were NOT all caught up in using sulfate free this and that! I got caught up in the trend with my hair and the growth and thickness is NOT the same! Sulfate and grease me please!

Brandy Kenoly: That Queen Helen cholesterol Conditioner was all my momma used to put in our hair and yes it is white or off white and used to work wonders and I'm gonna start back using it. And she used that ultra sheen or Dax or blue magic grease.. Thanks for sharing this

Shay Rollins: Your daughter is a doll. She is sitting there without giving you any trouble.

C. GRANT: Guys, I use to use LeKair Cholesterol back in the day - you could get a huge tub for around 5.00 or the smaller size for just under 2.00 - it was GREAT, but it is impossible to find anymore. Seriously, growing up in , I remember shampoo and Vaseline and I had long gorgeous hair. I’m no longer going to buy these expensive items - I have wasted sooooooo much $ on these products - eat right and basic products…thanks for reminding us!!!!!

Nikole E: I think these new products damage our hair even more so we could keep buying their repair systems and such. Just be gentle with your hair and use mild products, moisturize, trim and wear your bonnets/wraps. Deep condition…and you’ll see the revival in your hair

Elfreda Wright: I am happy to see that some people are realizing that "new" is not always better. We must sometimes stick with "tried and true" i.e, what works. If it's not broken do not try to fix it. Excellent reminder to sometimes step back and go back to basics.

spoonks1: Your daughter's hair is just beautiful. My mother used Queen Helene cholesterol on our hair and placed us under the dryer with a plastic cap. She also used Dax, Blue Magic and Vigorol hair grease:) I went back to using cholesterol a couple of years ago, and I absolutely love it. They sell it at Walmart. I will be subscribing to your channel. I love seeing little girls with healthy natural hair

SP: On Saturday mornings my daddy would do my hair. He would watch a football game or Soul Train. A beer on the table and a big jar of TCB. when my hair was done my forehead had enough grease to fry some chicken,LOL That was my hair routine in the 80’s ~ TCB and Soul Train ~

Angela Smith: Girl I grew up on that blue magic, that’s all my family used when I was a child. We never knew about the black soap back then, but I’ve tried the black soap to make my DIY’s. You also may want to try the hair mayonnaise by Africa’s best it’s very good as well. You can use that as a deep conditioner. Try it I believe you’ll love it. I’m going to go back to the old school products

Leah McLean Tewari: YESSS I AM HERE FOR OLD SCHOOL METHODS THAT WORK AND ARE INEXPENSIVE! Thank you for sharing this! ❤️

Kelly Royds: I had hair down to the middle of my back when I was younger. My mother used Vigerol, which smelled like rotten eggs, Dixie Peach, Ultra Sheen, or Sulphur 8. In my 50's now and my hair won't go past my shoulders. May have to revisit the hair grease routine.

The True Queen: Ur daughter’s hair is just beautiful to tell the truth I think a lot of these hair products today actually makes ur hair dry that may lead to weak strains and causes breakage and now that I think of it, I don’t remember having hair damage or breakage that only started once I grew up and began trying new hair trends and products. Yes I believe the old ways r best for many uses.

Ms. SWright: 1 thing i never stopped using is grease. I still use blue magic, but now i use the one with herbs in it. A lot of Naturals are against grease but my hair loves it, has not failed me at all.

Carmen Shirley: I grew up with my mother using a product called Queen Helene Cholesterol Conditioner. I’ll go back to basics too! TY

Remika Williams: Simplicity is best for me Thank you for this video!!! My hair loves Cholesterol and grease. Not popular in the natural hair community but the results speak for themselves

E J: Love the video! My mom used mane n tail shampoo & conditioner and the Indian hemp hair grease on my hair. I tried to go back to those products but it's so sad. Some of the old brands changed their formula to keep up with these "new" hair products. Hard to find originals anymore

Kim Mc: I'm 55, a 60's baby. Back in the day, Dax grease was used in my hair. My friends used Vaseline mixed with castor oil in their hair. Their mom was from SC. Royal Crown was the other grease, Vitapointe, and pink lotion were what I remember from back then. As I got older, I used mayonnaise as a conditioner. The texture of my hair is mixed. Now I went back to the basics and used Dax mixed with Jamaican Black Cator oil for my scalp. Everyone's hair is different, so not all that people suggest will work. If you want moisture in your hair, don't use oil and water. They don't mix. Oil blocks the water. It's a thicker substance.

tasha m: Blue majic, yes and cholesterol. I remember using them both on my hair as a teen. I loved the hair grease, the green was my favorite. I think I'm going to try going back to these too. These oils and new products are getting to expensive and I'm sorta getting over all the hype

Norma L: Back in the 80s, we very rarely used conditioners. We used grease for just about everything. My hair was booming. Her hair is beautiful

HampityHamp: Old school is the way to go for sure. 4c ONLY - $20 each for everything! Camille Rose - $20 each for everything! As I am - $20 each for everyMFk’nTHING!!!! IT’S RIDICULOUS & the madness must stop. Seriously!

Lauryn Sharon: I'm mixed, my mom would still use only baby shampoo and dax hair grease and when I was just 2yrs old, my hair was past waist length, I have 3c/4a hair! Now I'm 23 and my hair is stuck with shoulder length. I recently started braiding my hair with dax grease again and oiling my scalp when I have off days at work and my hair started growing and got so thick. My hair is almost bra length now

Adenika Pippen: Yes!! Blue Magic hair grease, spray bottle of water and the dark bottle me and my sister called “stinky stuff” but was actually Glover’s Mane. Longest, thickest, strongest hair and healthiest scalp! We hated when my mom said, “Go get the stinky stuff.” She only used it once/twice a month but our hair was always down our backs.

Robbin J.: I love this. I just asked myself as a 40 year old woman…. how did my hair break off & skin break out on my face ??? I realized following these trends on YOuTube from you get girls who half of them do not actually use themselves CONSTANTLY (/ ton of clickbait). That is like hiring a 21 year old to be my life coach. Growing up I had THICK healthy hair. We were in the shop every two weeks. We used black gel, spritz (pump it up) and even those marcel stove irons… but guess what??? Our hair was healthy, thick, and full. I made a decision to go back to what works. Growing up my skin care was dove soap and a moisturizer. Not toners, serums, and all these other thousand item. My skin was clear, yes I had pimples (drinking Dr.Pepper) but my face was smooth. This generation of young girls hair is balding before 26, edges are gone before 24, and it is nothing that we ever seen before. It is sad. The “look” of a style is more important than hair care for this generation. Thank you for providing simple staples to remind us “don’t fix what works.”

11kwright: The Cholesterol Hair Cream is now called “Hair Mayonnaise” Africas best hair care. Everything about it is exactly the same as the tub you had just the name is different. Can buy it anywhere even on Amazon. I use it all the time and it detangles the hair brilliantly. I always think to myself, all these expensive products like Miche when the Hair Mayonnaise is just as good if not better.

lovelybutterfly32: Ok, who's gonna break the news to her that Blue Magic is Vaseline with coloring. Vaseline is petroleum Jelly. If you look at the ingredients list the first one is, guess what, petroleum. But it also had lanolin, Lechithin, Mineral Oil, Fragrance, Green and Violet coloring. I've never used the stuff, by Mom loves this prod. Talking about going back to basics. Get this, Mom used to rise our hair in diluted kerosene! Don't ask me why. But we had very long, pretty, thick, shiny hair. ‍♀️‍♀️

Nai Nai: I am Caucasian and my sisters are biracial... I'm going to be turning 39 soon...we have the same mother, but I spent alot of my time with my sisters and their fathers family ❣️ Everyone always used oils and queen Helene cholesterol in my hair and it was naturally curly...once I got to be a teenager I unfortunately went with the fads and ruined my beautiful curly hair I now have a beautiful biracial African American and Puerto Rican daughter and I have went back to old school products and her curls are long and gorgeous and healthy ❣️Bless you and your family ❣️ great advice!

Chinwe Aniche-Hall: I agree that these products we used back in the day in the 80s worked. I was a kid in Africa in the 80s as well and I had long healthy hair until I had to cut it off for boarding schools like most African girls do. Now in 2021, I still swear by black soap not just for my hair but skin too. What they call cholesterol is pretty much hair mayonnaise and I agree it works with adding moisture to 4c afro hair. I use shea butter instead of grease for sealing in the moisture until my hair needs water again in about 3days. Old school definitely works. Thanks for highlighting these products.

Lala Marie: I completely forgot about cholesterol cream! I’m definitely going to try this on my daughter’s hair. I’ve been having such a hard time with her hair because her texture is very kinky and is incredibly thick! Thanks for taking us back!

Lex W.: Told myself I was going to stop cutting my hair and take the time to let it grow!! Ready for this journey once again!

silvrliit: Bergamot and sulfur 8 is what mom used to keep our hair soft and growing, I remember how nice it felt to have her do my hair. I was the “tender headed” one though, couldn’t stand the pressing!

Black Rose: I appreciate this vid. I have BEEN saying -Our people have kept their hair rich and thick in olden days , now we are being sold this and that (exorbitant prices at that) as if there isn’t a cheaper and basic way to maintain our natural hair. Qudoes to you for this vid.

Ebony Skye: I know I'm late but I used the Cholesterol Deep conditioner last night after not deep conditioning for months. The moisture was out of this world! Plus, I had no tangles!!! Now I just have to find a moisturizing shampoo that won't tangle my hair and dry it out ☺️

PJ Riffic!!: Yes my mom is Jamaican and she would use cholesterol on my hair too. I still use it occasionally as a deep conditioner. It is even better if you sit under the dryer for 10-15min. Very cost effective.

Natalie Jones: My mother used to use some of these same products on my hair too. She used the Blue Magic and added pure cocoanut oil and castor oil. She also used the cholesterol as a deep conditioner. My natural hair was thick and pass shoulder length under my mother's care. That is why I decided to stop relaxing my hair and go back to natural. These old school techniques has made my hair grow and flourish.

WOW4real?!?: Queen Helene Cholesterol is what my mother used and then later on Hollywood Beauty became the go to brand...These are the two old school Cholesterol products that I have come back to... Also like you, I use old school hair grease with a twist. I mix the hair grease in the jar with all pure almond oil, pure coconut oil, pure castor oil and other pure oils that l may have on hand. This makes the hair grease stretch. Therefore I don't have use as much and I don't have to buy it as often...And by the Grace of GOD, my hair has been thriving and growing back to its natural healthy state...And Ps...you are so right...I put the grease mixture on damp hair..."this is the key"...the grease mixture seals in the moisture for days ("for me"...about every 3 or 4 days I spray my hair with water and repeat the process). Keep up the awesome job!!!!

Brittany D: Yes, the cholesterol is everything! Thank you for this reminder!! I will def be making a trip to the local beauty supply store to stock up on some oldies but goodies

bigsexy604: Old school is the best. As I got older I tried to use a lot of new stuff. My hair broke off badly. I went back to blue magic grease and cholesterol, my hair grew back. My grandmother and mom also used royal crown and VO5 on my hair. My grandmother also made her own hair grease for our hair when we were children. I can remember the smell of sulfur when she used it. My hair grew just past my waistline.

Shirleyas Chambers: I went back to using Blue Magic years ago. Best decision I made in my natural hair journey. The key with grease is that you have to use it on damp hair so it can lock in the moisture. My hair stays moisturized the entire time it’s in a protective style.

Aliya Bowie: My mom grew my hair halfway down my back and the same with my older sister. My younger sister had Rudy Huxtable tailbone length hair. For younger sister and me she used Vaseline. It isn’t great for fine hair so she didn’t use it one my older sister. Now to be fair it wasn’t the best for the curl pattern, but we typically wore our hair stretched and braided. I know that sounds crazy, but we had long healthy hair. She also used Sulfur8 and Vigoral? May be the wrong name but it was a hot oil treatment. I also grew my own hair back out with basically Blue magic and conditioner. I became concerned with my curl pattern and the more greasy items were very heavy and I wanted to stop using clarifying shampoo so I couldn’t use products that would build up too much. But I am finding basic oils still work. If you are mostly wearing stretched styles grease isn’t the enemy. But you will have to work harder to cleanse it probably without using harsh shampoos. If you’re looking for defined curls a lot of these old school products won’t achieve that. But in protective styles grease will be fine.

Lakisha Carter: Her hair is healthy and beautiful! Most of these new products are loaded with chemicals and actually break the hair off rather than grow it. Great job!

T Crichlow: Grease and water was the go to products when I was growing up. I also remember bergamot oil or grease. Several months ago I decided to use old school products. Sulfur 8 grease, oil of bergamot, a moisturizer, and of of course water. I leave the hair damp. I love to see that we are welcoming back original products.

Abella Vidtfeldt: You've taken me down memory lane. For my secondary and high school education, it was girls' boarding school in mid 1980s. We were masters of improvisation: i) plain bar soap if you'd run out of shampoo; ii) chicken egg for cholesterol, you'd take an egg, beat that up and applied in the hair and roots; iii) avocado for Vitamin E. You'd eat half of it and the other half would be mashed and mixed with the egg; iv) plastic bag for hair cap. Hair would be covered for at least an hour, then rinsed very well with cool water, patted dry, and whilst still damp one applied whatever plain oil that would never damage hair (either coconut oil, or glycerine, or whatever inexpensive hair oil or grease). We let our hair dry naturally and plaited each other's hair. We also learnt to use carrot juice, aloe vera gel, honey and spices to make hair masks. It was great fun.

Roshai Moore: Tbh I never stopped using these products on my hair. I still use Dax hair grease to grease my scalp. And I still use Mane n tail to wash and condition my hair. That is how I kept my hair so long and healthy all of these years.

Sparrow's World: My sister and I just went back to old school hair care! Lol ... we don't care what people say, what Mama did when we were little worked!! Brought hair grease back ! And everything else Mama did!

Can Trn: That’s been like a mini spa day for the little girl I saw her writing, on the phone, & then enjoying her pizza, so cute & beautiful hair

Ivory Angel Charlemagne: My mom did the same routine with my hair but she used Mane and Tail shampoo, and Queen Helene cholesterol conditioner. Sometimes she would do mayonnaise and egg mixture too and it stayed shiny, thick, and healthy! I do the same with my daughter now. I said If it's not broke why try to fix it lol.

iz.h: I love this video so much! Thank you for sharing. As I have got older I have now realised that going back to the old school products are best! All of these new ‘natural’ products are actually terrible and overpriced!

Catherine Butler: Nice video and pretty hairstyle. My mom used V05 shampoo and rinse out conditioner on our hair until she switched to Suave; no leave in conditioner. She used blue magic or ultra Sheen hair dress on damp hair. That's it. Down the road we started using Pink Oil Moisturizer. No hair problems and spent a small amount of money on hair products. When I turned 18 I was finally allowed to get a mild relaxer, that's when my mom started using Queen Helene Cholesterol Hair conditioning cream and other products. Once my hair was chemically processed, the entire regimen changed including spending more money. Although I'm natural again, I'm not spending a small amount of money because of using the popular natural hair product lines. Too start spending less money, the times when I don't wear a wash-n-go, I may start using the old school method. I should probably try grease on a wash-n-go to see how it works, to save even more money. The natural product lines cost 2 arms and 2 legs. It's crazy. Peace and Blessings!❤️

Jetra Daniels: Silk Elements used to have the absolute best mega cholesterol. I used it when my hair was relaxed. I had to stop using it because they changed the formula, and added coconut oil. Coconut oil doesn't go in everything.

master of nothing: Memories unlocked! I forgot about the hair cholesterol, but we definitely had that. For grease we had blue magic, sulphur 8, royal crown, and Indian hemp and we kept pink lotion. I’ve been simplifying my hair routine but I think it’s time to revisit some of the oldies; I never completely stopped using grease luckily

toniliberty: Yes, it was Queen Helene cholesterol, Lol! It was a faithful, staple back in the day and it helped grow your hair. Black soap is a new one for me and I will be trying this next wash. Also back in the day, Creme of Nature had the best shampoo. It had a conditioner built in and that was all you needed. They don't make that shampoo anymore too bad. Also, royal crown, and Dax hair grease are still wonderful products to use. Thanks, this was a great video

Godwin Peace: I remembered when I was young, believe me I didn’t have any hair at the back ( I was referred to fowl yansh) my mum and her friend used Engine Oil for my hair and it grew my hair. I was on relaxed hair for long before I cut my hair and went natural 2020, I love my natural hair now. I would definitely start using these now, thanks for the video

tiadeni: Beautiful! Her hair looks so similar to mine this routine takes me back to my relaxed hair as a child. My mom used Queen Helene cholesterol, put a shower cap on, sometimes wrapped a towel lol rinsed, blow dried, and hot combed with Softee Indian Hemp grease. All that + amazing genes, I’d say, resulted in thick, dense hair down my back growing up. I discovered black soap later after I returned to natural, and it certainly is drying. Prepooing as you showed helped me as well.

MsObsidianReloaded: Okay, after watching this video amd reading the comments I think it's time for me to revisit the old stuff. These new natural hair products be almost $20 a bottle on average...it's ridiculous. At home Hair care shouldn't expensive.

Gigi Heights: Wonderful presentation and haircare sis! Daughter has hair of my family, thick and soft. Yes, I went back to grease ( and added fenugreek), cholesterol (had used it for years), and water. Kept it moisturized and twisted till shampoo. Now I'm not able to keep it up and hair is matted. Desperately looking for natural hairstylist. Thank you for dropping video. New subbie here ;)

The B!LT Podcast: I started using everything my mom used on my hair when I was little because I was following trends. Those trends destroyed my hair now it's back. Don't follow what works for someone else, so what worked for you!

TMC Natural Beauty: Yes Yes Yes! I was raised on these products and I use them on both my girls right now. Their hair is long and thick so, I’m never letting these products go. Love this video and that baby has gorgeous hair. ❤️

Lilian Oluwakuyide: This is it! Just decided to switch to basics with my daughter too. I use black soap to wash her hair and then use shea butter (the raw, original one back from Nigeria) to oil her hair. I still use leave - in conditioner though, will have to try the cholesterol one as never heard of it before! I have refused to buy any more products. Once I have finished it all, no more, lol. I do threads for my daughter too.

Freda: Omg your product list took me way back... I'm an 80's baby. Yes this is what. My mother used on me. Except for the ab soap, she used vo5 and still does lol

Star: Old School Products Are Ones- I keep in my racks: Glover’s Mane, Blue Magic, LeKair, Dax, Royal Crown, Castor Oil, Sulphur 8, Ulta Sheen, Pink Lustre, and list goes on. I order and purchase from stores, pharmacies, drugstores, online, and stores nobody knows about those off brands stores…. Staying with the ole school it works for me

V KB: I have 4c hair and my hair is desert dry. I switched back 3 years ago, I used Carefree Curl Activator & Plastic Cap, Cholesterol, VO5 Hot Oil Treatment, Sulfur 8 and Blue Magic Oil, I used them all at different times. When I was using Suave products I didn’t know there was a lawsuit for their shampoo & conditioner! So my hair started falling out and I had to do a big now I’m starting over.

Janet Mbene: I think it’s a good idea to go back to old school regimes. I am an elderly and I remember that my hair was at its best when I used the cholesterols. Hair mayonnaise, hair pommades like bergamot, blue magic etc. even VO5 hot oil. I had tremendous hair! Fortunately in Tanzania all those products are available.

Tracey Rhodes: Hi! I had been wondering the same thing. The old school way when I grew worked just fine. I remember my mom used blue magic grease. My aunt used Queen Helene cholesterol and I would sit under the heat cap and then rinse. She would also apply it before I went swimming ‍♀️. I had long hair, edges and all. My scalp was always moisturized, never dry. This is confirmation to get back to the basics. Thanks!

BABY-T: I back to using black magic hair grease. My hubby and I grew up with grease and it worked, so we're sticking to it. If you use hair grease, wash your gair at the end of the week to clean your scalp, and start again. We're using indian hemp herbal hair and scalp. Just use whatever works for you, and remember to wash your hair weekly to keep it clean.

OldSoul JS80: This was so relaxing to watch. I love these type of videos. So many people have strayed away from these old school hair practices. I used to faithfully grease my daughter's scalp with a concoction of sulfur 8(yellow jar), bb pine tar, and glovers dandruff control medicine which is an sulfur based oil. Her hair was long and thick. She's 13 now so she's trying to learn how to do her own hair but I'm looking forward to one day being that old school grandmom that wash, grease, and braid my grandbabies hair every week.

brina Jean: I had stopped using my DAX hair grease at one time- I remember when the lighter oils first became more popular and I was told to use that and not hair grease - I looked at her like GIRL, I'M BLACK AND MY HAIR NEEEEDS HAIR GREASE!!!!... But I started using the oils and my hair said YOU ARE A LIE!!!.... so I went back to my DAX plus I do use the oils too and my hair has been blessed to stay at the middle of my back for years by the grace and mercy of GOD. ☺

Schoolyb 2: Finally! A video I can relate to “If it worked then, it’ll work now.” I still remember the flow and softness of my hair from these products when I was a preteen. #Nostalgia

Mighty Lara: Queen Helene has stood the test of time! I keep the cholesterol conditioner. The cocoa butter lotion is the truth too!

NicNacAttack: Cholesterol!!! I'm about to go back to that myself! My mom used to put baby magic lotion on my hair. Now I only use Vaseline intensive care lotion, or a generic, and my 4c hair loves it! Also jbco on occasion. Don't fall for the hype of these new expensive products.

S O N Y A: I'm on a journey to regrow my hair, and thin edges. I’ve always had long hair and the longest my hair has ever been was mid back length in 2016. I relaxed last Feb. after yrs of not having in chemicals in it. Last October ,I decided to cut all the relaxer out. My hair has never been this short even though I only relaxed it once , so I have some new growth. I’ve been using blue magic coconut, Dax hair grease for yrs. I’m going to start back using the Queen Helen cholesterol . My hair is fine texture and I had to learn the hard way, especially about my edges. I normally would wear a hairstyle for 4 months., which helped with hair growth. My new hair growth journey is to go back to my older routines when my hair was healthier.

Thee Treasure Era: Growing up my hair was long down my back, folks would always compliment my hair. I’ve down a big chop several times within the past 4 years. Now I’m back on the journey and will return to these basics, it’s already growing well but it grow faster for sure when I do less

Ayemik Senoj: Older products usually always work better!! The same can be said for facial care products as well. I grew up with Blue Magic and the smell of bergamot and one of my favorite scents to this day. Just heavenly and calming. An I started using black soap to wash with over 20 years ago and never stopped.

Me! You! Nobody! Everybody!: Thank you for sharing. Will definitely go back to using some of the old school products when I was a child. Your daughters hair is beautiful! It’s the love and how you patiently & carefully nurture it. ❤️

Ronda Manuel: Yes, old school still works on my daughter’s hair also. We use Cholesterol still and the grease that my mom used that smelled bad was sulfphur 8. Haven’t used that grease in a while but I will get some today…your daughter is beautiful! Thanks for sharing

Swat Kasham: I am also considering going back to the old ways of taking care of hair. I used to have A LOT of hair, then grew up and started following trends. Now I'm struggling to grow my hair, even shedding badly. I remember using car engine oil as grease for my hair as a kid, and my hair thrived! Thank you for this video!

Kenneth: I remember my mother using the hair grease all the time on her hair Ultra Sheen green, and Blue Magic, she also used to press it with the hot comb from the stove and hot rollers on a Sunday morning before church. This was in the eighties and nineties. She considered groomed hair showed education. She's passed on now, but I think those old school ways were a way for the ladies to grow and have healthy hair, you can see it in those old photos from the fifties in the hair and clothes, nowadays, I see so many videos on YouTube where the ladies have lost their hair, chemicals, and glues. I wonder if that was the case in the past with hair loss as well?

Remnant Few ministries ministry: Yes I totally agree the old school products work! I recently went back to what my mother made as well. I havent tried black soap on my hair yet butI am an herbalist so I make a mayo mix with my custom herbal oils added and wrap with 2 plastic bags overnight. The sheen and softness is unbelievable. I am going to keep experimenting and maybe release a line. Although I have thick hair I deal with seborrheic dermatitis so I am working on something for getting rid of that in the scalp. Your daughters hair looks amazing. Goid job Mom! My Mom used all the same products. I would just like to have it a little more nutrient rich. Love her style..beautiful.

Suchagirl: Cholesterol does indeed work. I'm old school. There's nothing like some good ol' fashioned Blue Magic. I was also a fan of Ultra Sheen. It came in a glass jar. I love hair grease. It holds moisture and leaves the hair healthy and beautiful. Thanks for uploading this video for those who didn't grow up "old school." ❤️

Emeth: This is similar to how my mom took care of my hair when I was a child. My hair was really thick. I started doing my own thing, taking care of my hair, it got really thin. I bought myself some grease and I decided to go back, to the way my mom took care of my hair also. My hair is thickening back up. I remember my hair being soft, shiny, and thick as a child.

Shirleyas Chambers: I went back to using Blue Magic years ago. Best decision I made in my natural hair journey. The key with grease is that you have to use it on damp hair so it can lock in the moisture. My hair stays moisturized the entire time it’s in a protective style

Audrey S: Ok this was the sign I needed to kick most of these new products to the curb hair grease and braids for me

Loretta Wilson: You are such a good Mommy!!! So patient and Loving!!! Your Mother did a great job with you!!! And hopefully your daughter will pass this on to her daughter!!! I Love you Sister!

Pebbles Brown: Our hair was VERY healthy back then without all these products out today. I might just go back to the basics also

Denise Curtis: Thank you for sharing this video! Today is 6 January 22, Thursday, and last year in November, I also went back to the product my mom used in our hair when we were children-Royal Crown Hair Dressing! The moment I began using this hair grease while my hair was still damp, my hair instantly felt nourished, luxuriant, and very soft! It also had a beautiful sheen! However, the best part --were the deep waves that fell so beautifully after I took the Two strand twists down! And the added bonus! My hair is growing! No perm, no blowout but from November till now my hair is touching the top of my back! I also started doing a hair clarifying method using half water and half Apple Cider Vinegar, prior to shampooing, the last two things I do after shampooing is a hair mask and deep conditioning! Then I use the Royal Crown Hair grease, braid it up, initially, then I wrap it in a scarf and that's it!

krogerpluscarduser: I’m AA but we used these exact ingredients! I even know which grease you’re talking about! It came in a small container smaller than blue magic. Amazing how much we all had in common

Rose Kush: Love this video so much.. ur daughter’s hair looks so thick and healthy!! I’m also really appreciating the tips in all of your comments

RiRi's World: Before I went natural I used to relax my hair. My sister is a cosmetologist she use to use cholesterol on my hair to strip it. So your mom is right it was white and it was called just “Cholesterol” that was back in the 90’s for me.

kooshuns: These products are bringing up so many memories that I could literally smell the blue magic! Lol. I remember always asking my mother "Why is it called Blue Magic if it is green?!" XD

N Speaks: Your daughter's hair looks really healthy. Great job. I like to prepoo with raw Aloe Vera plant, wash with Shea moisture, and moisturize with raw Shea, almond oil, and jojoba. It has been soo long since I've used Queen Helene Cholesterol but from what I remember as a child it worked really well. Also heard good things about the black soap for skin conditions.

New Nana: I don’t know why we always leave what is working because something new shows up. I’m still old school. Some of the things I love, aren’t being produced any more. Your Mom knew what worked for your hair. Black soap it antibacterial works well for the scalp. Heavy conditioner with silicone still works for thick dry hair as a last detangling treatment. I pre poo with coconut oil. I sleep in moisturizing conditioner overnight.

J H: It’s all about simple routines. I just wash my hair every few weeks, use a leave in, butter or cream, and twist my hair up and leave it alone. I went from shoulder length hair to the bottom of my bust in a year, and my hair is very dense and low porosity.

Inspire Strength: YESSSSS!!! back to school. I loved this video. My mother use to do that to me too. Yes cholesterol is so good for our hair. it is another way to get the protein and health benefit from eggs without the mess. Blue magic I wanted to try that again it's eleven dollars in walmart (cdn) but I wanted to use it without it been too greasy on my hair. will follow your technique. thank you for sharing. xoxo

Sol Aüm: Your daughter's hair is beautiful! Great job mom. Cholesterol! I did forget about that one. Gonna start using it again. Thank you for this video

Dejarnett Lee: Old School is always better the Original way. ❤
