I'M very excited for this video because it was a lot of fun to make, and i know that last time i made one of these, it was really helpful to so many of you. So if you want to see part one to this, it was a while ago and i'll link it up here. It takes me quite a bit of time to test out all of these shampoos, so please give me a thumbs up for that and if you want to see another part to this, let me know in the comments what shampoos you would want me to actually try And feature in the next video of this series and also make sure you're following me on instagram, because i always ask questions on my stories to get you guys to help me out with these videos, like what shampoo do you want to see, so i can see What the most common answer is and then i can give you what you want. So if you're not following me, uh make sure you uh go. Follow me on the gram so for today's video we're gon na pull over my handy dandy. Little laptop cart. So for today i tested one two three, four, five, six, seven, eight different shampoos that i want to talk about in today's video. So i can give you my full thoughts and we can rate them. But i want to say that after i tested all of these, i'm still not switching my shampoo y'all, i'm still a plain girl through and through. There are a few different reasons for this, but the biggest reason is i am just a brand loyalist when i find a brand, that's doing really really good things that works really well for me, why would i switch none of these are doing better things for my Hair and none of them compare to playing when it comes to things like ethics, sustainability, certifications things like that i'll link plain below as well. If you want to check them out, but basically they have a refill system, so they take back their bottles and they refill them not just recycle them, they re-fill them. So this is creating the circular economy. That, i personally think is the true key to the current waste crisis that we face and they're the only brand on this list today. That does that. So that's why i really love them, but aside from that, most of the brands we're going to talk about today that you guys requested don't have wonderful certifications, not a lot of sustainable things about their ingredients, their packaging, how they treat their workers specifics. Any of that, whereas plane is made in the u.s, be corp certified a woman owned business, part of one percent for the planet, carbon neutral, et cetera, et cetera. I could go on for days about why i love plane, but that's why i won't be switching because they're honestly, just the best. I do have a discount code with them. If you want to go check it out. Aside from that, the categories that i ranked every single one of the following shampoos on are, if they have pommel in them or not, because that's the thing that most of you asked about when i asked, if they're cruelty, free vegan and if they have sls sodium Lauryl sulfate sls is not really bad for the environment by the way most studies, i've seen say that it's quite benign for if it gets into our water systems, but it's not so great for your scalp and i think that's why most people ask about it. So, in order to save time, i'm not going to say these for each of these different shampoos, but i will put them on the screen for the full time while i'm talking about each brand so that you know first up, we do have one that i'm really Excited about this is rhyme and reason, so this is a brand that i believe is only in target right now, but they're super super interesting because they are the first brand ever to make a completely 100 recycled plastic bottle. Even the cap, the cap is, what's traditionally pretty hard for brands to figure out how to make it out of recycled plastic. Their cap is 100 recycled plastic, which is really really cool. I feel like when brands take the initiative to do that. They can be the leaders in changing the market, which i love to see, and so i give rhyme and reason big props. For that reason, but the other thing i think, is really cool. Is they've really really thought about how to maximize how much they can fit on a truck right, thereby minimizing the carbon footprint of each of these bottles when they're shipped to the store and then to be sold by making their bottles square? So if you think about a bunch of circular containers on a truck there's, obviously space all in between them, whenever you have to ship it, this can also lead to needing more shipping materials, so they're not bumping around and spilling and all that kind of stuff. But what rhyme and reason did is basically make all their bottles square, so they can pack tightly together and their study shows that they can get 20 more bottles per truck by doing this, which i think is really cool. So, aside from the main four things like, i said that we're going to keep on screen for each brand. I also want to talk about for each brand, how it lathered, because i know that lather it doesn't mean that it's cleaning better, but a lot of people like lather, myself included. I feel like it helps you know where you're at where you're at while you're cleaning. If you've gotten to everything or not so i'm going to talk about lather for each of them, i'm also going to talk about the smell for each of them and then the after wash feel how it like felt on my hair afterwards and how long i like Didn'T have to go without washing if my hair was oily etc. All of that and for each brand. If the shampoo had like a sister conditioner, where it was like very clear that it was meant to be used with that conditioner, i went ahead and used it, whereas on a normal basis, i don't use conditioner. So the after wash feel for rhyme and reason was super smooth. I was very impressed by how my hair felt afterwards and it didn't like dry out my hair. You know when you use a pretty harsh shampoo, usually the ones that have sls in it. It will dry out your hair and it strips it. That'S also why i don't use conditioner anymore, because once you remove sls from your shampoos, your hair is not dry like that, but i also didn't get that feeling from this one. So that was really really good and what i really like about ramen reason - and this is the only one that did this - i don't know what they've got in their ingredients - it's doing it, but my hair dries super quick out of all the shampoos. I tried for this video with rhyming reason, my hair, dried surprisingly faster than any of the rest of them. The lather is good, but i think that's to be expected because it is still a liquid shampoo, so that lather is much easier to get than with most. But then with most bars and the smell is not too strong and it's natural-ish. I actually chose the volumizing shampoo, but they have a bunch of different ones and i'm guessing that the scent is different for each one. But it's not overpowering at all and that's where every reason i think this brand is actually really cool, in particular for the person who, like solely shops, at target for the person who is not super into sustainability, but wants to make a more sustainable choice. It'S right. There on the shelves at target, i think this is a good option. Next up is a really interesting one, so this is very different. We'Ve had a couple liquid shampoos, we have bars coming up. This one is super unique and then it is a powder. So, actually, as i was filming this video meow meow tweet, reached out to me and said: hey we're releasing this new shampoo powder. Do you want to try it, and i was like that's real weird but like i'm working on a video, so yeah send it over. So they didn't pay me to talk about them, but they did send me this product and it's powder that turns into a shampoo, and let me tell you, i was really really surprised by it, because the shampoo and the conditioner both worked really well. If you want to know more about how male male tweet ranks on my opinion on, if it's sustainable or not, i actually included them in one of my ranking sustainable brands. Video so i'll link it up here. If you want to go check that out, but this shampoo works surprisingly well, so the different things the after wash feel was good. This one in particular, probably likely because it does have um a shampoo and a sister conditioner. So i did use the conditioner on this. One the lather was also surprisingly good. I didn't think that a powder was gon na lather up a whole lot, but it did really really well, and the smell is pretty strong on this one. I think out of all the shampoos. This was the strongest smell. It'S not a bad smell, but it definitely like. If you don't like fragrance, it smells a lot. I don't think it's stuck with my hair, because madison would have told me she's the always the judge of this, but as you're like washing it in your hair. You definitely smell it. Next up was a highly requested, one called viori. I think it's how you say that this band is very different and it's a very mission driven brand, like they do a lot for their local community. All the ingredients are super, sustainable and really ethically sourced by their community and like the way that they've made, the shampoo bar is almost like. It developed out of the community instead of like something that developed and then seeked or like, went to find a community to support with it if that makes sense, but the after wash feel for this one was good. Nothing super like interesting to report one way or the other. It wasn't like super drying or super moisturizing. Just good lather was okay and the scent is like not the best. I want to say it might be fragrance free because when you smell it i don't smell any fragrance and you definitely it doesn't stick with your hair at all, but it's definitely not scented. I guess is what i would say and the lather is just okay. I don't think this shampoo bars like driving home wonderful point is that it's like a wonderful performing shampoo bar. I feel like it's very mission, driven which we love to see. So, if that's something that's important to you to support with your money on, like you know a repeated basis, because shampoo is something you would be repurchasing, then i think they're a good brand to support. But i don't think that, like their formula is anything necessarily to like write home about, but that's just my opinion if yours is different, let us know in the comments next up is spring and vine, and this one is really interesting because it is a shampoo bar. It is in a cardboard box. It is easy to grab on the shelves at target, but what i find really interesting about this shampoo bar and literally none of the other ones that i received is that it did come in a thin plastic bag. Now don't get me wrong. This is still a lot less plastic than most shampoo bottles, and i definitely would prefer if people had this thin layer of plastic versus all of the plastic, shampoo bottles that they use and all the shipping that comes along with all those plastic, shampoo bottles, etc. The shampoo bar still has its benefits. I just don't know why they felt like their shampoo bar needed a plastic bag when literally it's the only one. I'Ve ever tried that had one so the after wash feel here is pretty dry, and this doesn't have a companion like sister conditioner. So there was nothing for me to like use with it and it is a pretty drying shampoo bar. In my opinion, it does lather very, very good, and i've actually taken this bar on road trips with me before and how did it like this might be? I don't know if this is weird, but i just had a double purpose. As my shampoo bar and my soap on our honeymoon. That'S actually the trip i took it on and it works really well it lathers wonderfully and the smell is quite natural and very light, and it doesn't stick with your hair like after your shower. Let me know if that's a good thing or a bad thing for you by the way, because i know a lot of people, love smells and when i talk to hiram about why so many brands put so much freaking scent in their stuff. It'S because it's a huge part of like the consumer experience and a lot of people love fragrance and their stuff. They love the like experience of that in the shower. Let me know if that's you or if you hate it, because that's me this one is fun. So this is habitat botanicals i've gotten a lot of questions about this brand. It is made by pila, so pila owns habitat, and so i think a lot of people ask me if i like them what i think about them, etc. So, here's your answer. I will say i don't think it follows necessarily like all of the sustainability guidelines like pila does from what i can tell. This was a small woman-owned brand with locally sourced ingredients and all that sort of stuff and then pila purchased that company and they are now working together to build this brand. They are part of one percent for the planet by the way. None of these other brands that i haven't mentioned those things about they're, not the carbon neutrals, the b corpse the one percent for the planets. At least habitat is part of one percent for the planet, so we give them props. For that now i have to tell you on this bar. I do not like the texture, it feels like cookies and cream, at least before you get it wet. The after wash feel was good. Nothing super interesting to write home about super dry or super moisturizing. Just good the lather is okay, especially compared to some other ones. On this list. It'S not super great, but it's not bad, and the shampoo bar is a no fragrance bar which, if you're sensitive to smells, is a really really good thing. But i think people were asking me because it's owned by pila, we expect it to be like great and wonderful like pila is, but i don't think it's necessarily anything to like write home about. But let me know if you've tried it and if you disagree this one, i really like this. One is called peach and the only place i think you can get it is from grove collaborative, that's actually how i got it. They sent it to me a long time ago and i've been using this one on our road trips for the last like few months. They are made in the us and they are b corp. So we love to see that this is a shampoo bar. I can go the longest without washing my hair again with literally no other shampoo. Does this with my hair. I can i only wash my hair like once or twice a week. Okay, if it gets oily, i'm fine with it it's up in a bun. I don't care, but in the case that i don't want to wash my hair for a few days and i need it to look good. This is the shampoo bar i would go to so. I absolutely love this one and it does have a conditioner bar paired with it. So i always use that as well. When it comes to the lather, this one is good and it does have a smell. The conditioner bar the smell is like very, very faint. The shampoo has more of a smell, but i don't think it sticks with you very much and yeah. I really like this one. This is probably the one i have tested the most like long term and i would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a good, shampoo bar next up, you asked about a cure and i know they make really great skincare. So i was really curious to find out is their shampoo bar any good? I will say i tried to look into like all these brands and tell you guys about their transparency, their sustainability, their ethics, all that kind of stuff and for the most of them. They don't say anything about it, but a cure was really frustrating because they did have a link on their website. Talking about our story, which was the only about us kind of page - that there was so i clicked on it, and there was like a few different, green, washing terms like ethical and sustainably sourced, with absolutely no details and no transparency about it also again. Hence why i'm sticking with plain because of this list they're the only one that has that many certifications, transparency and all that kind of stuff, i'm just saying, but a cure was particularly frustrating because they put like three sentences on their about us page and that's just Ridiculous to me, but you asked about it, and so i tested it for you and i actually think the bar itself is really good, so it does have sls in it which, like i said, not terrible for the environment just most of the time, not good. For your hair, which i think is why the feel after i washed it was very dry, but also the lather was incredibly impressive. I think this is the kind of shampoo bar that would be good for someone like my sister she's, like super anti-shampoo bar regardless of the video i did with them, trying to transform her life i'll link that video up here, she's, not stuck with any of those Things and it's so frustrating to watch, especially now that, like we live together again, but i digress, i think the shampoo bar could be good for someone like her because she washes her hair every day because of how oily her hair is, which i told her she Needs to stop doing that because it's counterintuitive, but someone who wants like a traditional shampoo feel but from a bar. I think this is really good for them and it's more sustainable because a lot less packaging, obviously and a lot less water, a lot less weight to ship. It'S definitely more sustainable, but like not up to my standards because of their lack of transparency. I'M just saying and last this is probably the most requested bar from my last video. It'S called shangrin valley. I don't know if i'm pronouncing that right now. I was really excited about this one, because it's a huge bar, it says it's an all-purpose kind of bar, like you can use it as a shampoo bar as a soap and all that kind of stuff. I was excited about them, though, because they are rainforest alliance. Certified and they are made in the u.s, i said at the end, i'm going to tell you which one's my favorite worst and which one i'm going to take on my road trip, but this was by far the worst one i tried. Let me know if you've used this, because i absolutely hated it so the after wash feel was heavy. My hair took so so so long to dry. After i use this shampoo bar my hair felt weighted down, and by the next day midday my hair was oily and i never experienced that on the second day, but i just i just did not like how my hair felt after i used it. The lather was pretty good and i think no complaints there did lather well and the smell was also not great, like it was almost bad smelling and not just when you like, hold it up, while it's dry but like while you're washing your hair in the shower And that's the only one i felt that way about, like some of them had a very faint smell. Some of them had no smell. This one was kind of like unpleasant to use. So that's definitely my least favorite one plane is still like my favorite, like i'm not switching mostly because their ethics are great and it's a type of i'm a brand loyalist. Actually, that's the reason. That'S the reason, but also because they have a great certifications. They'Re, a wonderful company all around, like i love transparency and brands, and i think playing is like it embodies that very well, so sticking with them. But what i'm going to take on my road trip - because i always take shampoo bars on road trips - is going to be drum roll. Please the peach shampoo bar i'm going to stick with my peach, shampoo bar, because i really like it out of all these ones that i tried. I think one that also gets a super like good mention is rhyme and reason, because i really like the feel of it in my hair. I would use it but like out of all these, that's where i'm sitting. So let me know your thoughts which of these you would choose if you're gon na try any check out all the links, i'll link them all in the description make sure to go. Follow me on instagram, if you're not already so you can be involved in some of my next videos and remember until next time. You cannot do all the good that the world needs, but the world needs all the good that you can do bye, guys.

Daphne Winters: It would be interesting to see Madison's take on some of these shampoos/conditioners. Since she has natural hair and a completely different texture than yours. I'd love to see it

Kendra W.: I want to see reviews of bar conditioners. Finding a good "zero waste" conditioner is WAY harder than finding a shampoo.

incaamor: I would like to point out water hardness plays a part in performance. I've tried so many bars that work great in my home town - an hour way - with medium hardness. But they were awful in my city with hard water. I started using viori about 2 or 3 months ago and LOVE it (for context, I have mixed Asian and Latina hair, pretty thick, very straight) Idk how I missed that it's made made with sls, though. I'll definitely see if I can get my husband on board with the Rhyme and Reason. Thank you!

Jessica: I wrote to Spring and Vine yesterday about the plastic in their packaging. They say it’s needed to keep the bar “fresh” but that they’re looking for alternatives.

Randy O: The refillable shampoos and conditioners are a smart concept. Hopefully there will be more companies jumping on this band wagon. I’m trying to find a bar shampoo for sensitive scalp. Any suggestions? Great videos!!

M. G.: Scent that doesn't linger on my hair (or preferably, no scent at all) is a good thing for me. Scent doesn't bother me, but I have a friend who's extremely allergic and I like being able to hug her without making her face numb.

Bee: I've been using viori for around 6 months now and my hair is honestly the healthiest it's ever been, probably from the rice they use as the base ingredient. I love the ethics of the company too and the thought they put into all of their products. They have 4 different base scents (I think the one Shelbi used was the native essence unscented one) and if you are a scent person like me the hidden waterfall scent is like therapy in a bar, it's so calming and lovely. not a huge fan of their conditioner bars as they break me out, but I've found that just the shampoo bar works fine for me (and my hair has never been this soft in my life lol)

TheClassics4: Last time you did this, I also did some price comparisons and plaine ended up being the lowest, so I bought it and I don't think I'll ever change either, the one bottle has lasted me forever! but if price is also something people are looking at I'd go with plaine, though I'm not sure how it stacks up against these other ones prices

Keke: I was soo excited to see chagrin valley on your list! I personally have used them for years (I have Afro textured hair and use their butter bar) but I can see why it probably made your hair heavy. Also neem just smells like burning tires in general so I understand the disgust there they have a place in my heart because they were one of my first eco swaps and I stray here and there from time to time but always end up back as a customer

Rachel Fishbein: I know you've collaborated with Hyram on sustainable skincare. Do you think you may do another collaboration with a hair care content creator like Manes by Mell for a sustainable hair care routine? She's primarily all about curly hair, but she has expressed an interest in sustainable products on her channel, and she focuses a lot on scalp care regardless of hair texture.

Carrie Bland: Oh man thank you so much for covering Viori. I keep getting ads for them, but couldn't really find anything concrete on their site regarding their sustainability. It definitely makes me feel better about the brand hearing what you have to say about it.

Paige V: A shampoo bar that I use and love is Jack59! Made in Canada and sustainably sourced, the company was started by a woman and actively hires and supports women in the community. They have a wide variety of shampoo/ conditioner bars for every hair type. Absolutely fantastic product.

andy dutton: There was actually shampoo bars at my grocery store. It's a grocery store chain not a health food store. This is a great time for shampoo bars.

Bailey Schneider: My hair is super oily I used to wash it every two days now I wash it once a week and it still gets oily but not as quickly or as much. I use corn starch at dry shampoo and it works better than anything I’ve ever used. I used to go through a can of dry shampoo a week now I buy a 99 cent box of corn starch and it lasts my about 6 months. Cheaper and a lot more eco friendly lol

Plaine Products: We are SO grateful for your love, Shelbi! Thank you for being part of our community and for EVERYTHING you do for the planet

ArtofLaser: Thank you! I've been using Viori shampoo and conditioner for five months now and it's become my ride or die, I love it so much. I love the mission and community work that the brand does. As well as this was the first s/c bars that actually worked for me. I really love the ingredients and have improved the health of my hair. One correction I would like to say is that while the bar does contain gentle sulfates, they do not contain SLS. The rice water and protein have really improved my hair strength and color, while the aloe, cocoa and shea butter keeps it moisturized. Of course what worked for me won't work for everyone but this one is a good one to try plus it's really long lasting. I've had the same bar for five months and it's only about half way gone and I wash my hair either every other day to every three days. Good money saver.

SarahJo: I'm excited! I use the Peach bars & they work for me so I'm interested in other options I'm also happy that they listened to their customers & changed the shapes between shampoo/conditioner - they used to both be triangles! I used to love scented shower items, but my skin has gotten more sensitive as I've gotten older & I don't spend as much time in the shower itself.

Angel Fuchs: I love this, I have psoriasis and I’ve been looking for one that’s also hypoallergenic and feels moisturizing (so not just bars)

Abby: Thank you for including if there is SLS included or not, I am allergic to it. I don't have too many issues finding products anymore, but even 2 years ago it was a lot harder to find stuff without SLS!

Marena S: Love this! I'm excited to try the Plaine shampoo because I have their lotion in rosemary mint vanilla and it smells so good! Something I'd be interested in learning more about is what all these certifications of brands and products mean, e.g., OKEO-tex, B corp certification, fair trade, etc. You seem well-versed on these labels since you reference them throughout videos, and I would love to see a video about what exactly all these labels mean, how they are DIFFERENT from others, and other labels that really do not mean too much. I had to purchase a new mattress size, so this week I was investigating mattresses, sheets, comforters, etc. and it took a lot of digging to figure out which companies' products were more sustainable and ethical by googling the differences between their certifications. I think having some reference guide on the major eco/health-friendly labels would be super helpful for situations where consumers need to buy a new product and really analyze what the company is saying it is doing for the planet!

Alex Reith: When you showed the Chagrin packaging and it listed Neem in big letters I knew it was going to be smelly and I was not surprised that it made your hair oily. I use Neem as an organic pesticide on my plants and it makes my grow room smell so bad. When you use it as a pesticide it leaves a sticky oily film which is what you want for repelling insects, but you definitely wouldn't want it on anything you were going to pick and eat raw without a thorough wash. I'd be curious if that shampoo would help keep the bugs away on a camping trip though!

Monica Zorbaugh: Love your videos. You alone have convinced my husband and I to get serious about sustainability and you’re my go to when trying to find better sustainable brands. I do want to point out though that you said none of the brands but one were 1% for the planet but rhyme and reason actually are too. Just a heads up.

missavaricebliss: I was surprised by the Spring & Vine coming in plastic but I really wanted an unscented bar and this was the most affordable option. The drying action is exactly what I needed for my hair.

Noelle Killius: I really wish Plaine products existed in Europe. I loved them when I lived in the states and it stinks not having a circular economy shampoo company like them here!

fibromiteready2fight: For me personally, scents can very easily make my head hurt and increase my dizziness. Some smells aren’t too bad, but I normally err on the side of caution and get fragrance free or unscented. If I want my hair to smell like something, I add a moisturizing carrier oil with a few drops of an essential oil I like to my hair.

Marina Uzunova: As usual, great video! I still haven't found a shampoo bar that works for me. Thank you for doing all this research for us

T: A conditioner one would be awesome, too. I live my shampoo but I have a heck of a time with conditioners.

Anastasia Beaverhausen: Thank you so much for doing this!!! I’m trying to make more sustainable choices for my family!

Emily K.: Hey Shelbi! Thank you so much for the video. It is so nice to have a thorough review of different shampoos! To answer your question, I personally cannot stand my products being scented. My sensitivity has gotten better, but I would prefer if the scent faded away and doesn’t linger. Which is why, anytime a brand provides an unscented version, I’ll always pick that.

Marie R.: I would love to see a new review of the LUSH shampoo bars once they release the reformulated bars!

kleptomelly: I recently purchased the Viori shampoo and conditioner bars and have been liking them so far. This is the first time I've used shampoo/conditioner bars so I don't have others to compare to. I also tried the Susteau Moondust shampoo powder. I like that one but it can be a little tricky to get the correct water to powder ratio that I like.

Misha Audis: Oh my gosh, I feel so vindicated!!!!! Chagrin valley was the very first shampoo bar I tried, years ago, and I ended up blaming myself and the mineral content of my local water for the poor performance. I’m glad I’m not the only one. I may try the bar you recommended-after a cross country move I’ve been struggling to get back into more sustainable habits.

Meredith Hopkins: Viori has several different scents and an unscented version so you probably got the unscented. I like their hidden waterfall scent a lot and it doesn't mess with my sensitive scalp!

Huffleproud7: I’m torn on smells, some are ok and others give me a migraine. But I don’t think so many products need fragrance. Thanks for reviewing these! I think I’m going to try plaine when I next need shampoo and conditioner

valnstuff: I really appreciate all the time you put into trying these products. Rhyme and reason sounds like a great option for my kids because I don't trust them (yet) to properly use a shampoo bar.

Nellie: I'm obsessed with Ethique. I love everything I have tried from them. Their Shampoo and conditioner work great! I think you had the Heali Kiwi one in your last video. I love the Wombar/Kookaburo (bindhi irwin collab)

Past Substance: Rhyme and Reason is accessible in my low income neighborhood at Target and I don't have to travel too far for it. Which I think is great! The only problem is that a lot of people that are low-income don't buy sustainable products and because of the less demand, there are less zero waste items in stores. I sometimes feel like I am the only one buying and supporting.

Emily H.: As a brunette, I love Chagrin Valley’s café moreno bar. It really does bring out the different hues of brown in my hair and makes it look so pretty. It is drying though, so I have to use a ton of conditioner afterwards (which I use conditioner bar from another brand of course).

Marissa McKool: If you do another one, A Simple Planet would be good to review. They have a closed loop system, they send you refill pouches that you send back after you fill your bottle and they sanitize and reuse the pouches.

Rose Robb: I just bought a new brand of shampoo bars two days ago I tend to prefer mildly scented or unscented body products, the lilac and white tea Native deodorant is the exact level of scent I prefer in products.

JorNicole: I love the habitat shampoo bar. I’m curious to try their new bars that are for different hair types and have different scents. The original has the perfect amount of lather and no weird, waxy feel after washing.

Lindsay Brubaker: Chagrin Valley is my go to!! (the rosemary charcoal one specifically) I always get the shampoo from their scrap sales they have which are a great deal, and reduce waste! I've tried a few of their shampoos before sticking to the one I use now, so maybe it's the one you chose?

Bree Leicester: I thought I was the type of person that LOVED having scented shower products, but I've been using unscented bar soap for the last couple months and I don't miss my super scented Bath & Body Works shower gel AT ALL! So glad I made the swap! This is really specific, but does anyone have any recommendations for a bar soap that's unscented, cruelty free, isn't drying, and doesn't break the bank?

Alana Luken: I can't believe that there is so many options that theres a part 2! and still more to be tried. Could you test out The Earthling Co next?

Alexandra Davis: I really like scents so the honey Lush shampoo bar works best. I also have really thick hair so a soft scent and clean feeling is nice! Love this video Shelbi <3

Chey Nic: Have your thoughts changed on ethique shampoo bars? I have been using them since using your last shampoo trial!

Eln: It's interesting to see that Spring & Vine has a little bag too!! A chain pharmacy I go to recently got shampoo bars by SoapBox and they had them too. I was so confused.

Linda Steinbrenner: I have used Chagrin Valley shampoo bars and I agree with you! But their body bug repellent is really good! We have tons of mosquitos and love outdoor concerts and it works so good!

Jacqueline Colette: I actually like the habitat bars and conditioner. Nothing super amazing but I do enjoy them. Also love their body soap the most, it stays sudsy for my whole body rather than me having to go back and rub more soap on my washcloth.

Lady Skippy: I use the viori shampoo and conditioner bars. I love the mission, and I personally find it works wonderfully for my hair. I have fine thin wavy hair and it’s hard to find something that cleans the oiliness that always comes with fine thin hair but doesn’t strip my hair and make it frizzy by being too harsh. There are different scents that people can choose from and some are better for oily hair and some are for more normal hair. So I personally think people should give it a try if they are looking for a shampoo bar.

Susan Grover: I am also a Plaine Products woman through and through. I absolutely looooooove all their products. They check all the boxes--cruelty-free, palm oil free, women owned etc. I will support them forever!!

Laura V: I actually have a question for you: I'm very confused about the Viori Shampoo Bar, because I went to their page and looked at their ingredients list, and I don't see SLS listed anywhere. Was this a typo??? Thank you for all you do, and I know this has to be an immense project for you to tackle; it's greatly appreciated! :)

Harley A.: i tried rhyme and reason bc of you and now i’ll never go back, my hair for the first time was soft and i have such dry hair so i give it 5/5 stars

reissval: I'm curious, have you tried Vunella? I keep seeing ads for sale codes for their side and I'm wondering how good their shampoo/conditioner bars are compared to others. I'm actually getting ready to try Ethique for the first time and Peach is on my wishlist to try as well.

Anela B: I’ve always had very frizzy, thick hair and bought viori after noticing some hair loss. Never in my life have I been able to dry brush my hair without straightening first because it would just make my hair frizzier. However, after using viori for a few months I’ve finally been able to dry brush my hair to my surprise. My hair is much softer and I think healthier and after brushing it looks smooth and, well, brushed. Not like a poofy frizzy mess.

Shae: I feel you on the Chagrin Valley Shampoo bar, it didn't work for my hair but we have hard water and I figured that was the reason. I would recommend a lot of their other products though! If anyone hasn't tried it yet, I really enjoyed their camping & trail bar. I used it all summer long and didn't have any issues with bug bites. The spray and lotion bar are nice too.

Katherine P: I definitely prefer no smell to stay in my hair. No smell during the shower would be good too! I've been using Spring and Vine for a bit and I agree it is so drying.

Amelia Wilson: I would like to see eufora. It seem to be one of the few " salon quality" brands that are attempting sustainability

Z: i use lush's solid shampoos (i've tried a bunch of them) and conditioners (i've only used american cream). they work really well on my hair, can be easily taken with me when i travel, and woww they last ages compared to liquid shampoo

Ella Candy: I absolutely love lushes shampoo bar I will say though the smell is extremely strong but Like that and its very drying but I can literally go a week without it getting too oily and I have curly hair which I also put product in so that says a lot

Zimri Mendonca: I'd love to see more lower-waste options that are free of silicones (including dimethicone, etc.) & sulfates/that are suitable for the curly girl method available! As well as reviewed by you and/or Madison, if ya find more that fall into that category :) For those of use with curls or coils/coarser hair textures, it is a STRUGGLE to find products that are packaged in more environmentally-responsible ways that actually keep our hair from breaking, since there are already relatively few products made for our hair types on the market. Narrowing that further to products with effective & safer ingredients is a much smaller list, and I'm only aware of about 5 products intended for curly and/or coily hair that are packaged in plastic-free ways. I know that it's largely a matter of funding, since the majority of brands that make products that are effective for my hair are very small businesses, but I hope that these companies start to get more support from investors and consumers so it's possible for them to use less/no plastic in the near future. It's been really exciting to see a lot of those companies taking steps in that direction over the last few years :)

LeviLiveEvil: I would love to see a review on the shampoo and conditioner bars from Royalty Soaps. I love watching Katie make her themed soaps on her channel but her shampoo bars are slept on. They're cruelty free, sls free, and wrapped in biodegradable/compostable packaging. I got a shampoo bar for travel and they last quite awhile, the scents are not overwhelming (there's a fragrance-free option) and they lather pretty well. Recommend for curly girls!

Arlene R.: I personally hated Acure’s version. My hair felt so dry and stiff after using it. It felt like no matter how long I rinsed my hair, I couldn’t get all the product out. I’m really wanting to try Plaine but just can’t afford it rn.

Ivne Haas: $30 for a liquid shampoo bottle!? I think I'll try one of the bars lol

Stephanie Davidson: I have to agree with you on the Chagrin Valley shampoo bar. I think living in the Midwest, we tend to have harder water which doesn’t mix well with soap based shampoo bars. You can get some build up with a traditional soap and they’re usually extra moisturizing with all the oils from the saponification process. I’m sure a lot of people are familiar with soap scum, which is a chemical reaction between the soap and the minerals in hard water. I’d be curious to see what people thought who lived with soft water and used it.

Casandra Merkel: I tried a few Chagrin Valley samples before finding HiBar and was super unhappy with them, had the same experience with it being super heavy and greasy.

Rachel Howard: Is there a way to buy peach shampoo bars without having to sign up for Grove's subscription service?

Ana Palacinka: Honestly it was SO HARD for me to find out the right shampoo for me and I agree with Shelby, once I found it I can't go back but I really wanna see what's in this video - for the record mine is from the brand Respire, it's a French one (bc I'm French eh it's local for me but not necessarily for you) and it's : organic, solid (only packed in a cardboard box), smells good (no fragrance I think but it smells like almond bc there's almond in it yk), makes my hair feel awesome even with both my super sensitive scalp and curly/wavy hair, I would love to see you test it!

Aviva Godfrey: In my experience, "unscented" products usually smell BAD. I know it's just the smell of the ingredients or whatever, but some of the results are real nose-turners. =A=;; So I end up getting scented products just so it doesn't stink. I'm working my way through a moisturizer right now that's "unscented," but the nasty chemical smell lingers on my skin for a good half-hour after I use it. I'd rather smell something else.

Helene: I've tried a lush shampoo bar which lasted a long time and worked for my hair. I've tried ethniques shampoo bars which did not last as long as a lush shampoo bar and felt it took a lot more product to get a good wash. I've tried both those brands in conditioner and neither of them worked at all for me that I could tell. Ethnique is out for me in shampoo and conditioner. I would repurchase a lush shampoo bar but not the conditioner. Right now I'm using leftovers from family who didn't like the shampoo or conditioner they had so I am looking for something better for my next purchase. I have oily hair and dry scalp. I find that difficult to find something that works well because of that. And also that fits in my price range.

Sara T: Love the video! Super informative. I have only used etee and Earthling Co for shampoo and conditioner bars. It would be interesting to see how these compare.

Diana Banana: omg Viori's shampoo bar is so pretty, it looks like a moon cake

Sophie: Just started the video, but wanted to say I love my hibar shampoo and conditioner! I only like the moisturizer ones though:) highly recommend!

Lydia Mahoney: For those of US in the UK, Faith in Nature is an easily accessible refill option.

Jennifer S: Personally, I love my Viori. Mine is definitely scented, and leaves a faint, but very pleasant scent throughout the day. I'm sensitive to strong scents, and it does not bother me. It also leaves my dry, 2A hair full of volume, really enhances my natural texture and waves, and leaves my hair moisturized. I definitely need the conditioner bar though - - idk how Shelbi uses no conditioner (Edited for typos)

Cierra K: I would be interested in trying peach since my significant other gets confused about which bar is for what in the shower. The different shapes may help since different color bars have not helped them in the past.

Christi-Anne Yarbrough: I use the Ethique Pink Shampoo bar which I will probably always use as the lather is great and it's color safe (which I know most bars aren't since coloring your hair isn't eco-friendly) and I recently was looking for a new conditioner because I really didn't like the Ethique one. I found Rhyme and Reason had a color safe conditioner and I like it other than it smells like playdough. It works nice otherwise and I was excited to see that they were listed here. I love that they use an all recycled bottle. Also, The Body Shop recently started doing a refill system similar to plaine. They only do it at certain locations right now but it's great to see more companies turning to that. Thank you for this review Shelbi!

Jessica Santos: I like to have lingering smell in my hair. I am SO sensitive to my own body odors, and super paranoid. I wanna smell good all the time. However...I've been learning about how bad fragrances are for our skin. Even natural fragrances, like essential oils. I'm currently using Viori's unscented bar shampoo and it works really well, but I miss the yummy smells I'm torn here.

Christianne Ottinger: I agree that the Chagrin Valley bar is just terrible. It left a waxy film on my hair that would also coat my hairbrush. After several bars that I disliked, I’ve been really happy with the shampoo bars from Mountain Madness Soap Co., out of Idaho. I have to order them, but I have liked the product and the minimal packaging.

Brandee Michelle: I'm sad cause I've been using Viori for a while and I love it but I honestly thought it was sulfate free, and I've been avoiding sulfates for over a year now. So now I need to find a new product. Also I did a big sample order of a bunch of chagrin valley products and they were all awful. My hair when it dried felt like I had rubbed candle wax on it or something. Like it was greasy and piecey and gross

mary nelson: I wish companies would stop putting fragrance in everything I have psoriasis so I can’t use anything with fragrance. There are so many low waste products I’d love to try but can’t.

Distinctively Stylish: Great review! Just found your channel and love. I do have to say though that I personally just started using Viori and absolutely love it. I do have thick, curly hair and have found it lathers really well. I also bought one of the scented shampoo and conditioner bars. So perhaps you have an unscented bar? My hair personally has done great since using Viori and my hair usually will go on strike the second I change shampoo. I'm curious about the other brands you mentioned as well, thanks for taking the time to review all these, saves me and my hair the hassle lol

Elise Hamilton: Please try the Aveda shampoo bar! They're a Salon brand and I think that would be a good option for people who dye/color their hair who are more skeptical of moving away from a big salon brand to some less well-known brands.

Sandy S: Once I finish with my current shampoo and conditioner I will be trying grove peach!

Casa Duro - Tiny Home: I'm still so skeptical about how user friendly shampoo bars, frankly I don't think I would ever use a conditioner bar cause I want to COAT my hair with conditioner. So instead I bring my bottles to my local refillery and continue to use liquid products. One refillery I really like has a HUGE selection, so I can try different brands or scents as frequently as I want!

Cathie Rainwater: While I love fragrance in pretty much anything, I can't always handle it as most/many fragrances cause headaches for me. So I go for light or fragrance free.

Mira Earles: Your hair looks suitably beautiful for a shampoo video!

R N: The Spring and Vine company makes a fragrance free shampoo bar. I am allergic to several fragrances including essential oils. I hate that so many hygiene product lines have no fragrance free options. My husband has to use Selsun Blue and I am extremely allergic to it. It doesn't even smell good imo so I don't understand.

Viennafly1: I loved the Peach ones, too. I have the green ones, and they’re up there as some of the best I’ve ever tried, if not the best.

M Yt: Please try the Mad Optimist’s shampoo bar and the Trader Joe’s one

PrettyAliceNight: I currently use the Plaine shampoo too and like it. I’ve tried a couple of the Chagrin Valley shampoo bars and they worked but aren’t my favorite. I do love their soaps though! They are very nice!

Lauren: Did you know that Fillaree has shampoo and conditioner? They refill so it’s also circular. I have their products. It’s too moisturizing for my hair but may work for you or others

Victoria Weade: I recently started using the unscented Viori shampoo and conditioner bar and I really like them! They don't later super well but I only wash my hair twice a week and it never gets greasy. Also I'm pretty sure they are SLS free at least the unscented one is

Adrian Stubbs: Just discovered your videos. Really impressed by the detail, accuracy and your attitude. Very non-judgemental. I'm encouraged to do more..... You mentioned lather, and how it doesn't mean that it is cleaning better... this is actually inaccurate, I believe. Lather/bubbles suspend dirt and grease and are very important in cleaning.

justbeingkar: Chanrin valley was the only one at the store I went to and I got huge sores all over my scalp and left my hair nasty. I agree with you there!

Sally Carttar: Acure is the only shampoo bar I’ve ever tried that I couldn’t stand. It left my hair feeling stripped and squeaky, and that didn’t go away when it dried. Usually if I get something I’ll finish it, even if it means suffering through, but I couldn’t bring myself to use this bar more than twice.

Jordan Mohan: I used chagrin valley too and hated it. Also experienced the waxy after feel and did not enjoy the scents either :(

Cassie Nester: Oh no!!! I LOVE Chagrin and use them for 90% of my "bathroom" needs. I even use their dog shampoo for my dogs lol. And my favorite bar from them is the one you tried! I'm not poo pooing on your opinion or anything, I know everyone's hair is different but I'm so sad about, I love them! Hopefully people will still be willing to give them a try. But thank you for such a thorough video!

Abigail McCarthy: Dr Bronners bar soap + Rhyme and Reason conditioner is great for my 2C/3A hair!

Alex A: You should try unwrapped shampoo bars! They are my fav!
