Hi loves. In this video I want to show you a traditional oiling method that my mother has used on my hair for years. You can use it to promote growth, or you can use it to soften and strengthen your ends, to make it easier for your hair to retain length, so that your ends don't snap off as easily.

I used:

15 OZ of Palm Oil

2 Tablespoons of Yellow Shea Butter

A Table Spoon Of Sunflower Oil

A Table Spoon Of Olive Oil

And a mixture of tea tree oil, peppermint oil, castor oil, and avocado oil.

(This is optional. If you're just looking to retain length, it's not necessary)

I melted the ingredients down using warm water. I didn't use the microwave or the oven to melt them. I got the water warm on the stove, and put the ingredients in a container and used the warm water to melt the ingredients. I didn't use boiling water, and I made sure that the stove was off.

Your 4c hair can't know your 4c hair can't honey. I'M gon na show you how I get my 4c hair longer and if you want to see how I get my shrinkage from this to this, keep on watching till the end. I'M here to share all of my tips and tricks to get longer thicker 4c air, so that you can love and enjoy your first year as much as I love and enjoy my 4c hair is beautiful and versatile. Okay, so the first thing that you're gon na want to do is apply the treatment to damp hair. I will have all the ingredients and all the amounts listed in the description box below so make sure you check that out. So one of the reasons why I love using this treatment is because palm oil is so rich and so buttery, and I think it's mostly used in West African dishes and one thing that my mother is always done for me since I was a little girl, is Used it on my hair, because it literally stops breakage right in its tracks and allows your hair to grow a longer thicker and healthier. So I shampooed out the palm oil thoroughly and now I'm going to show you all my conditioning process. I think this is really important, so also one thing that I want to touch on is you are going to see my hair right here and you're gon na be thinking. Oh my gosh. She cannot be 4c she's, not forc'd. I promise you if you've been my subscriber for a while now you already know I have high porosity 4c hair and it's also longer so the water is going to weigh it down, but I promise you you will be shook. You will be shook when I get out of the shower, and I show you how short and how extreme my string catches so anyways a lot of people say use too much conditioner and I'm telling you all. I do all of these things because there's a method to my madness there's a reason why my hair is so thick. There is a reason why my hair is so healthy right now it has not always been healthy. I want to make sure that you all know that I've been through it with my hair, so I like to saturate my hair with conditioner because it makes it so I get a lot less breakage and it weighs down my strands and it elongates my hair, so That the detangling process is a lot easier for me. Are you all ready to see how extreme my 4c shrinkage is? Well here? It is. I have high porosity 4c hair, so the water weighs it down very quickly, and the water also leaves my strands very quickly, and this is my hair. It'S very dry, it's very coarse and it even breaks off quite a bit when I do this when I actually let it dry like this, but I did it for you all to see my true hair. I usually just blow my hair out right away like this. So that I don't get as much breakage and that's why I can't really wear my hair and afro that much all right so now, I'm gon na show you all what I do before. I do my braid outs in order to elongate them and to get them. Looking juicy, I like to apply the Paul Mitchell, skinny serum to my blown out hair and that I like to run through it with a flat iron at about 250 degrees. I have very high porosity, 4c hair. I have to take these steps in order to make sure that my hair does not frizz up, and all of my efforts do not go to waste. That'S how I go from this to this. If you all want to see a full braid I'll tutorial, please let me know in the comments below alright, so I'm the type of person that does a twist out, specifically just to put it in a bun. I have really thick hair and I really just don't like to deal with it all the time, so it's easier for me to just put it up in a bun. So what I'll do is I'll just spread some of this on my bun and a little bit around like my edges and stuff, and then I will tuck this under my bun I'll tuck this under my bun and I'll just put a do-rag. Yes, I do right. I used to do right I'll just put a drag around my bun and call it a day as always. Thank you all so much for watching for more tips on how to grow long, natural hair make sure you follow me on Instagram

Synthea Hairston: I love that you explain that you DO have 4C hair but the fact that you have to because the hair type police will call themselves “dragging you” for “TrYiNg To GeT vIeWs.” Love your channel so much baby girl! You know we want that braid out tutorial!

T K: WOMAN, THANK YOU for saying that SATURATING hair in conditioner is okay. TOO many people are STINGY with their natural hair and then WONDER why their hair isn't healthy. Great VIDEO!!!

Tanya: It's beautiful to show family traditions and the involvement of your mom. She's so sweet!! I'll start using the Palm oil and keep you posted. Your hair looks so healthy and thick.❤

Audrea Boughton: Thank you for this 4c high porosity length check with explanation on your hair type. People like to say I have wavy long hair but I’m usually in the pool, lol. When they check the dry shrinkage after I get out they want to blame the salt or chlorine but I smile and say “I’m Black”! I love it!!! I love caring for my unique hair and that love and caring translates to the rest of my life. Thank you for sharing a way to enjoy babying ourselves while looking good! Following you, sis! (I’m not a trend follower but Black rice changed my life...I’m telling everyone high porosity)

CuteNobi: Thanks for allowing your hair to shrink up. That was brave of you. I’ve been natural for many years and have forgotten why I don’t wear my fro. This video reminded me why I have continued to do twists. What are your thoughts on grease? I’ve used butters, but grease works better to seal my hair.

Kraxy Kam: You're so honest. I dislike how other YouTubers make it seem as if hair growth is so easy and mislead people to think that it's impossible. But thank you, this video was helpful <3

NaaBegNoFriend: This was so enlightening, finally found someone with the exact same hair as me. Exact same issues with my hair too.

Julissa Brown: Great video! I would love to see a tutorial on how you do your braid out bun

Gucciflipflops -: Thank you for showing your shrinkage, a lot of other youtubers don’t do it. Now i see it’s completely normal to have that amount of shrinkage, when i blow dry my hair it’s also as long as yours ✨

Shannon Young: So glad I found this video ❤️. I purchased red palm oil at my local grocery store because it was marked down. I had intentions to cook with it but then thought maybe it could be good for my hair so I googled and found you. The way you describe your hair’s porosity is exactly how my hair is. I didn’t know how to explain it before. Now I will make sure I do not let my hair dry and shrink to avoid the breakage. Thank you!

Kayla M: I just realized like a month ago that after 9 yrs being natural that I have HIGH POROSITY 4C HAIR. I couldn't figure out why my hair wasn't growing and my edges were leaving with a quickness. I had been following low POROSITY 4C hair tips and was getting absolutely nowhere. Thank you thank you for sharing

Ladii E: Finally someone who has the exact same hair texture as me & Thank you the tip for shedding

ufuoma uvomata: I would have loved more details on the actual palm oil treatment in the video Like a step by step guide??

F G: Thank you for allowing us to see the real process and the real you. How Inspiring! Go Sis!

Nubian Buttaflyy: I was literally about to give up on my natural hair 2 days ago. I’ve been natural since 2012 and I’m getting tired of not “seeing results”. My hair has a lot of shrinkage almost identical to yours. But I don’t blow dry so it’s really hard to love lol. I see you have several videos can you tell me your regimen. Or make a hair regimen video detailing you’re regimen I.e how often you wash and do treatments, What treatments you do etc

Cherelle :D: I have just sat and watched all of your videos in one sitting! I'm so thankful you decided to make a channel ❤️ look forward to watching more videos from you x

Notoftheworld: I’d love to see a braid out tutorial!

Laa The Slaya: My mom grew my 4c hair down to my waist.....and then I started doing my own hair and tutorials and it kinda broke off. ‍♀️ So now I'm growing it back. Hair like yours inspires me❤️❤️❤️❤️

Kayland Jordan: I love your content! I'm curious about your blow drying routine. Heat? Low setting? Cool air only? I know (from your other videos) you silk-pressed your hair for a long time and are no longer interested in the heat damage. Beautiful home by the way!

Machaela Boateng: I’m confused. Should the oil treatment touch our roots? (Looks like your avoiding your scalp) How long do you keep the oil treatment in your hair? Do we wash the oil out with shampoo or just water? How often do you do the treatment? Help us out girl we need more details.

Mrs. Israel: Our hair is like witchcraft . Would not change it for a thing . It is so much fun

Yinka Fadairo: Hey twin! Soon my hair will be this thick and long! Stay blessed

Lydia Green: Okay come one...there’s NO SUCH THING as TOO much conditioner. Besides, it always used to drive me crazy how naturals where like “use a dime-size amount”...in what world are you living in? Sis...I need half this bottle AT LEAST (as I’m screwing off the teeny tiny little pump)

Tharealist75: High porosity and with all that thick lusciousness yasss! Im here for it thank you as the HP ladies are not easily found on YT.... New subbie <3

Just Mili: African girl here ‍♀️, me and my sisters use red palm oil our hair is super shiny and lack of moisture is not a big issue

Ericka Defante: Love the video- it is too short though. You've got some very good things to teach us. I don't mind them being a little longer. Could you please say what conditioner and shampoo you use?

Nancy Umba: Can you do a separate video that explains the palm oil process at greater length?? Cause I’m not clear on how to use it

PeeMadeFamily: Omg your my hair twin that is crazy how much it can shrink I thought I was alone !

Adrienne Yt 22: I'm subscribing, right now. You are just oooozing spiritually!! I'm so glad I found your channel. I'm just looking at your surroundings; very zen to me. Even your voice and your presentation so easy to listen too. Your parents did a WONDERFUL job.I'm sure they are very proud. Believe me, I know no one is perfect, but it's where we are now and knowing where we can go, that matters.. Ok. Gotta go subscribe! I'll be back!!

Tamara Manley: I’ve literally just subbed to your channel a second ago and I heard palm oil and I was like I’m watching all your videos now. I dunno if I can get away with using palm oil in my hair, my mum would kill me since she needs it for her cooking

Cassidie Hailley: So glad I'm not the only one who puts dollops of conditioners on my hair. ☺️

Marci Hairhobby: Omg.. my heart broke when I saw the shrinkage and dryness

khalilah: do you add the palm oil mixture before or after you wash your hair?

Dee Marie: What heat setting do you use on your flat iron? I also need to straighten my hair a little to prevent breakage because my hair is very thick and tightly coiled but I don’t want heat damage.

La Shonda Mitchell: Finally someone with the same exact hair as mines only you got the length I desire thank you for sharing

miszreed: Yes, I would like to see how you braid or twist your hair for braid outs and twist outs. I love your hair. ❤️

NightBlossom: Girl when you spoke about your shrinkage, it spoke to my soul the struggle is extremely real

Jennie Janine: Yes! The shrinkage is so very disrespectful on us 4cs. My hair looks sooo long till I let it dry without stretching it. Looks just like your vid. But 8n the shower, oh my goodness . Gorgeous. My husband's reaction is like: "can you keep it like that"? To which I want to reply (in an Archie Bonker tone): "Shut up, Edith, would ya"?

Dee M: It's nice to finally see someone with hair like mine. Can you please do a video or share with us your best leave in conditioner, oils for hair growth, best shampoos and conditioners, best edge control the ppl wanna know sis!!!!

Remika Williams: Yes plz show us yiur braid routine. Love your content and I need more in depth routines Thx in advance

It’s ya Girl E: This makes me happy I big chopped again 1 month ago!! Operation hair grow!! Thank you

Royal Rose: I love your hair. I appreciate your videos and the information your giving. If I may. Would you mind making a video slowing down a little bit to get into more detail on the products and the process?? I'm just really interested on your hair journey and to love on my hair more with your method.

Space cadet: Not even my hair type but 4c girls be having some different different when it comes to haircare. Love it tryna upgrade

Linda Venable: YOUR HAIR IS SO BEAUTIFUL. THANK YOU FOR THIS AWESOME, FABULOUS VIDEO. MY HAIR IS SO DRY, NO MATTER WHAT I PUT ON IT, SO I'M GOING TO TRY THIS TECHNIQUE AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. I DO BELIEVE THAT IT WILL WORK OUT FOR ME.

Kerry James: Hey. What kind of palm oil do you use RBD or palm kernel oil is there a difference? Thank you

TerrorSkwad: How long do you leave the treatment in?

Eunice Oyekola-Clark: I never thought about putting palm oil in my hair!!! I Food only lol Definitely trying this!! Thank you!

Jemila Mahmood-Shaba: AWESOME video! Just wondering how long you keep the treatment on for before washing it off and also how many times a week do you apply this treatment?

Dana G: I’ve never “typed” my hair but I can 100% relate, so maybe I have 4C high porosity hair. (1) how do I know for sure? I’m definitely struggling. My hair is super thick, but also short & reallllllly dry. This makes it difficult to manage. So I end up with a puff for days, then it’s tangled & knotted, so I wet it or do a full wash/condition routine & it breaks off in clumps and the cycle repeats. Aloe treatments leave chunks behind (2) how do you get them out? (3) Maybe you prep the aloe in a certain way?

Jyvhyshkarr Elias: What kind of palm oil do you use? And how often do you wash your hair once a week?

Ni La: I have a very similar texture. In fact, it looks exactly like that, but not nearly as long. #goals

Lizzy Mpai: Hi Yinka, your hair is beautiful and so thick. I have really thick hair too and I just did a big chop. My second time going naturally and this time I decided to do it the right way. Can you turn low porosity hair to high porosity? My hair is a mixture of 4b and 4c texture and is sooo dry no matter what I do. When I do finally manage to get moisture in it, it lasts for about two days then back to the dryness. I used to wash it weekly but now I’m not so sure if that’s good. Is it?

holar: Can palm oil be used on low porosity hair

Allison D: "No, your 4c hair CAN honey." So loving your vibes.

Edna casada Com Braz: Boa noite Linda ❤️ Poderia fazer o vídeo com tradução em português i❓

keykeyksm: Yinka! Can you do a video or tell us how you take of your hair after a workout throughout the week? I work out 3-5 days a week and usually co wash then twist out 1x weekly. I sweat alot. You said in the last video that working out was good for your hair, but I havent found any naturalistas with videos on post workout routine. Any tips?

Sonja S: The shrinkage. OMG. Your hair is beautiful.

xshanglamx9: How often do you wash your hair and how long do you leave protective styles for? My hair is like yours and I also have to blow dry my hair after washing it as my roots are too thick. If I let it air dry my hair would knot up and I would get breakage from combing it. I'm wondering how people with 4c hair wash weekly and do wash and gos as I'm thinking that if I did that, I would not see growth with the amount of hair I lose from blow drying etc

Lydia Brown: Your hair is absolutely gorgeous!

Little Won: Never ever thought of using palm oil Fantastic idea

vanniah1: Hi gal thank you for the video. How often do you do the palm oil treatment and how long do you leave it on. Do you shampoo your hair after is there a way to leave it without looking like a ☺☺

Olá Ananás: Girl, I love your vibe. I've been following you on IG and i didnt know you had a youtube. I'm a small youtuber, mostly food and for some time to time I will do some hair content because I'm hair has been growing like weed

Uwanibe Uche: I really Love your videos, I also have high porosity 4C hair.

T Michelle: I just came across your channel but I love your videos. Just wondering how often you blow dry your hair. I have 4c hair too and the shrinkage is so hard to deal with.

mamadee66: I use palm oil on my face after washing it because it absorbs so well

SayPennita: Love that you have similar hair than me. Its so nice to see someone else with that before and after. I never know how to answer people when they ask how long my hair Im like it depend , What do you mean Long? Lol which sounds weird

Tynisha Howard: Hi Yinka. When growing ur hair out to trim or not trim is the pressing question and if so how often. I want it to grow out (currently armpit) but I also want it to be healthy...Idk

Magdeline Mosidi Tladi: Tutorial on braid out and wash day .... And how you moisturize it please

Criss L.: Thank you so much for your videos I have yet to see anyone that has identical foresee here like mine. Can you please show your blowout routine when you do your video and I'm not sure if you've done a product cubby but please please for us struggling don't forget ❤️

MsLewisu: Where do you buy the palm oil?

Maria do carmo Pascoal: In Angola we use palm oil for hair also. Natural palm oil makes your hair turn brown. This comes from someone that uses palm oil.

L u l u: How long have you been growing your hair, it’s beautiful x

Chic Chi: I've never thought of put palm oil on my hair

Shannon Armstrong: Such a gorgeous ABUNDANCE of healthy hair

Cha Ndo Mav: Your Hair is MAGNIFICENT!!!

okocha kachi: Wow, I never knew this. I noticed you did not put the oil in your scalp or am I wrong? I thought prepoo was meant for the scalp? What then did you put in your scalp? I'lld appreciate a feedback. Thank you

A Mina: Yinka gave us this tutorial with the quickness

Anysia Nas: Question is it ok to only use palm oil ?

Avant-garde 2.0: Water doesn't way down my hair. Mines 4b and honey. It's impossible . It's extremely thick, doesn't shrink too much, but sometimes it gets really straight on its own and looks like I blow dried it, it's weird

Amromanoh Pauline: Can this be applied to the the scalp like those with edges issues

Shelly Reynolds: If you create a great detangling solution you won't have that shedding, and breaking hair issue.

EbonyNeckole: I appreciate you so much !!!

Aisha M: I wish the video was more detailed on the palm oil treatment

Heyit'sJ: Thank you for this video. In the description you mentioned palm oil, but then just blithely skimmed over it, not going into any details for those who are not used to it, a bit more info would have been useful. Thanks nevertheless.

Darsyl Francois: I haveLow Porosity 4C hair. It can't take oil products or to much protein products Would the palm oil work on Low Porosity Hair?

A. Smith: You are so real ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Nuri Rhines: What setting do you blow dry your hair at?

Abraham Smith: Like I don’t understand if YouTube’s actually adds dislikes to videos(I’ve literally never seen a video without dislikes)...I mean how can someone bring him/herself to hate a video like this(it’s just soo innocent and unstereotipypical

Kalahari Gold: I subscribed when I heard 4C high porosity yes please!
