Hi good to have you this week, it's a curly hair tutorial by request. Funny thing about this: is that there's really not so much to do? You know when I think about normal blowout videos and all of the technique and all the things that we do to straighten our hair and to get it straight. We curly-haired gals, you know we fight, frizz and and wave pattern and all of that, but now we're actually leaning into it. We'Re learning how to let those natural waves and curls come in, but the biggest issue, at least in my case, is eliminating the outer layer of frizz that likes to set in it's like a whole other layer of hair on top of my hair. So frizz is really really a problem, especially if you live in a humid climate like mine, if you're in a drier climate - and you have naturally curly hair, you are so lucky because the weather works in your favor. In my case and my gals in the southern States and just anywhere in a tropical humid climate, you are battling a lot of moisture in the air. So really product is important and there are a couple of little tricks and takeaways that I'm going to share that. I'Ve had to figure out through the years on how to really let my curl pattern come in and what I can do over time to maintain frizz. So, let's start about what we're using in the shower, because there are specific shampoos and conditioners that are made for us, curly, haired gals, also for us, women who color our hair, whether you are adding color or whether you are processing like I am, and when you Bleach, you are stripping the cuticle, and so that exacerbates the problem, because now you're adding more frizz to the hair, because you've stripped the cuticle - and I like my blonde highlights, but I still want to let my curls come in. So let me share with you what I used in the shower today. I found this line at Ulta, really like it, because it's a totally clean line. It'S AG Care. This is color savior color. Protecting shampoo protects, color, extends vibrancy, sulfate free, it's free of a lot of junk. It'S one of the clean labels at Ulta, so it's a hydrating shampoo, any type of a product that is specifically for curly, hair, great, so I'll have links to this and all other products that I feature by the way in the description portion of the video. Just click more and you'll see it all expand. The next thing is the conditioner that we use. Conditioning in shower is critical, especially the type of conditioner you'll notice that products that are dedicated and steered toward curly hair have a lot of heavy conditioners, emollients and oils. In them, why? Because you need to add that for the cuticle, for it to bind to be able to weigh the hair down and let that curl pattern come in and tame that outer layer of frizz. So this is also by the same line AG Care. It'S called curl fresh, it's coconut, avocado condition. Let me just read this: to find and strengthen curls with nutrient-rich avocado, coconut and sunflower seed oils in a creamy mango butter. Doesn'T that just sound delicious 98 plant-based naturally derived conditioner. It'S vegan silicone free, you massage into wet hair and rinse. So my number two trick aside from finding the right products to use in the shower number: two: don't rinse out your conditioner too much. Yes, you want to rinse it, but we have a tendency to over rinse so we're adding all of this nice oil and humectant to the hair and then, in my case, hard water. You rinse, you rinse, you rinse you're, getting rid of a lot of that wonderful moisture that you're you've added in. Have you ever noticed when you go to the hair salon and they wash and rinse your hair? They don't rinse nearly as long as we do so pay attention to how long they're rinsing, because I always find my hair - is shinier sleeker and healthier. When I leave the salon, so that's in shower so now, let's talk about what we're going to do out of the shower again product driven. But here is technique. So I need a moisturizer, a leave-in moisturizer for the hair, as well as a leave-in, serum or oil. For the hair and that's what helps me tame my frizz without it looking oily and greasy the first one that I'm going to use is a product by Goldilocks, it's called Ultra hydrating leave-in conditioner. The trick is, we have a tendency to kind of spray right here and then we've left all of these under areas out. So I kind of section my hair and I will just do a little spray in and then section again spray it in my driest. Frizziest hairs are toward the front, naturally as with all of us, so that will receive the most attention and I'm focusing about an inch away from the root on down and same for the back. These leave-in sprays are watered down they're, not as thick as the conditioner. In the shower, so don't be afraid to saturate your hair. Well, I also focus on those areas that have been highlighted because they need extra, TLC, foreign, okay and now the next product that I'm going to add is by the same line, and this is Goldilocks signature. Serum it says this luxurious light fast, absorbing serum delivers, deep hydration, intense, nourishment and instant shine apply through towel dried hair before styling or you can do it to dry hair for Frizz Control. This is a product that I use both wet and dry. So what I'll do is, I will take two pumps and I will focus right up here up front top staying away from that part and then bring it on down and pull it through the rest of my hair. So other areas are getting it, but I concentrated again on where I need it most, which is right up front, I'm not going to run a brush or a comb through my hair at all. My fingers are taking care of all of the work. So now, once you have your product in where you need it, here's where a little bit of technique comes in so now you have to decide. Where does your hair either naturally lie or where do you want it to part? So, in my case, I can just shake it, and my hair naturally finds this sort of semi-middle part, and I'm just going to let it go where it naturally wants to go. That'S the key. You know following your natural pattern and parting. The other thing is this is where you can influence how your hair lies. These ends are starting to round under. I like them to flip up, so here I'm just going to manipulate the back and I'm going to kick them out. Okay, you see. Curly hair pays attention to what you do so I've kicked those out now, the more you touch your hair at this point. Here'S my next tip the more you manipulate the frizzier it gets. So it's really important to just let your hair do its own thing. Now. I like a little bit of lift in the crown, but I'm not going to use heat at all on my curly hair. Look because the minute I add heat, even with the diffuser out, comes the frizz. So this part of my crown right here where I want some lift, I'm just going to grab a section and then I'm going to take a clip. You'Ve seen me use these clips before and I'm just going to clip it up and let the rest hang down. So this is forcing the root now to come up. It'S going to give me some root lift, but it's still going to allow my natural curl pattern to come in one thing to do also for Lift. I featured this product before Kristen s thickening spray. Sometimes I will just kick that right on the area where I'm trying to get some lift, especially right there at the back and just on the scalp and that sort of thickens and it provides a little root. Lift. Because when I let my hair air dry and I'm not using the round brush to create volume, it tries to sit flatter on my head. So a little bit of a thickening spray. A little something to give a lift, especially with the help of a clip, makes all the difference. I want a little bit of volume at my part, so I'm going to take my hands and I'm just going to push right here. To give me a little bit of lift at the part, the rest I'm going to let it do its own thing, and it's now just a matter of waiting it out. A lot of you think I have really thick hair. I do not my hair is fine. It'S just curly and it's the curl in my hair, that makes it seem thicker than it really is. So in my case, my hair is actually going to dry pretty quickly because it's not all that thick. So your timing and waiting process may be a little bit longer or a little shorter, depending on how much thickness you have in your hair and we're just going to let the clock pass. Five more minutes has gone by so it's time to assess, see how your curl pattern is coming in also time for me to share my other tip. That is when you're letting your hair air dry make sure you have your air conditioner running, removing humidity from the air and adding in some cold dry air will really help to ensure that you eliminate that outer layer of frizz and, speaking of as you watch your Curls come in, if you see any areas that are starting to get a little frizzy, just take a tiny dollop of the serum, rub it between your fingers and again just do what I did before my blonde hairs obviously will frizz the most. So then, I will just sort of reinforce that curl and add the serum to it. Specifically the ends - and it's very, very lightweight - and it's just a little bit so you're not going to weigh your hair down but you're just going to ensure that the curl comes in and you're doing your best to minimize the frizz, especially if you see it coming In here again, well just emphasizing volume, and so we wait some more another five minutes we're getting there time to share my next trick. If you are one of those, ladies who has super super super tight Spirals and you want a little bit of a bendier look and not so tight as your hair is drying just take the end and give it a yank and pull you'll. Keep your curl pattern intact, but you're going to loosen the tightness of those curls, especially at the ends. Okay, about 30 minutes later we're dry got a lot of stuff done around the house. So take advantage of that time, while your hair dries to just do some busy work. Usually I reverse it to be honest with you I'll, let the hair dry do the makeup do whatever I need to do and then, by the time the hair is ready. I'M ready to get dressed as well. Okay, so I'm going to take out the clip and, as you can see, gave me just tiny, tiny, tiny little bump right there, which is what I wanted. And now I like to have volume in My Curls. Now I've got to be careful because I don't want to add frizz to my hair, a product that I love and I'm almost out. I have the travel size, but it's the virtue, create texturizing spray and it adds volume, it adds texture and shine. So what I do I'm going to need to scoot back, because I'm going to kind of tip my hair upside down and I'm going to get this in between kind of Hit, the roots a little bit to get some more volume and poof so hold on. Probably a cloud, it's probably a cloud okay, but that gave me exactly what I wanted, which was the volume and it didn't mess up and add heat. See that to me is everything doing the curl without the heat, the heat is. What makes me frizz, you don't need hairspray, you don't need anything to weigh it down all right. So let me spin around so you can see everything see how it all has kind of come into place. The only thing that I will do and I'm sure you're going to ask me this. Okay, so you've got everything in place, but what happens if you, you know, go out and it's very very humid. What do you do? I will take a little Serum with me if I need to just to kind of smooth out any frizzies that come along and then, when you go to bed at night and you wake up in the morning and the hair has gotten a little bit messed up. What I will do is take the leave-in moisturizer, because it's so lightweight and water-based, and if I have to just sort of Hit the front again and smooth it and sort of take my finger recoil re-spiral just to get those curls back. That'S what I will do, but that's it I never put in any hairspray in curly hair, just these products. They seem to work like magic, and you know the beauty of following your own natural hair. Is I find no matter what no matter where I go? What I do my hair here stays exactly the same, not the case when we curly-haired gals, try to straighten it and then we go into the humidity and then suddenly it takes on a life of its own, so the beauty of honoring. What it is that God gave you is that a it tends to stay exactly as it was designed to and B it oftentimes suits us more than we give credit. You know it amazes me, you ask any curly-haired woman. What'S her wish, I Dream of Poker straight hair that just dries perfectly. Naturally, you ask any straight-haired gal. She said I would give anything for curls volume and lift. We always want what we don't have. So, let's lean into what we do have make it work for us, let's also learn how to style it. So on those days when we want to have something else, we can do that too. That'S the beauty of learning, how to style, learning how to use what product is going to work for what it is that you're trying to do you, you can have your cake and eat it too. Go out be bold and be blessed, enjoy your curly bounce and I'll, see you next Thursday, 1 pm Central and, of course, on social media as well. Bye, foreign

C MC: African American woman here. Ouai curl creme is WONDERFUL!! Also, AA women have a method in our community called ‘wash and go’. To capture our curl pattern, we have add leave-in condish, then gel on sopping wet hair in the shower. Nothing captures the coil/curl pattern and reduces frizz more than working on dripping wet hair IN the shower.

Cheryl Wright: I am a curly gal too and I remember as a teenager and into my twenties and early thirties all I wanted was straighter hair. Now as a woman in my late fifties and even in my forties I know how blessed I am to have the curls. I never have to spend time styling my hair. Wash, condition, and put a moisturizer in my hair once out of the shower....done.

Netha Denise: Could you please do an episode on the importance of posture? I see so many women with terrible posture (myself included). I’ve noticed you have good posture…it’s so important not only for the health reasons (can cause back pain, slumped shoulders, etc) but also as a way to feel more confident and strong. Thank you!

Antonia Rebelo: Yay, thank you for this! I have been wearing my hair big and curly most of my life - last 10yrs or so I have been flat ironing it, but you have inspired me to go back to my natural waves. Thank you Dominique - looks super cute on you

Judith Kerr: Thank you for this tutorial. As a curly haired girl, who decided to stop straightening my hair with everything from rolling on fruit juice cans to ironing it; when I turned 35 (am 80 now), I have found that the cut is the most important thing. Unfortunately, very few stylists really understand how to cut my hair to allow the natural curl patterns to flourish. I moved to FL 2 years ago after 5 years of “snowbirding”, and have been through 6 stylists! My hair loves humidity, and I have found a serum is the key to control frizz and enhance the curls. An old product, Frizz Ease, does a pretty good job as well.

Elena Pizzarello: I am a curly hair girl, too! When I was younger, I never truly embraced it. When I allow my curls to flourish, so to speak, I get so many compliments! Love this video and all your explanations of each product. I do put the blow dryer to my hair, but I use the heat in a way as to not get the frizz. And I learned through the years that product does, in fact, help! Thank you for another great video!

Lynda Rutledge: Went to my natural curl about 15 years ago after everyone kept complementing my hair after our Florida rainstorms. Never regretted it and still get compliments and so much easier!

swindal1: I’m 61 and I have curls. I am now loving mine. I follow curl sisters and have learned to love my curls. The biggest difference in our technique is a holding gel or mousse. It is magical in keeping the curl shape and fluffing after it is dry gives you miles of volume. It makes defined curls instead of fluff. Maybe add it one day. I use Herbal Essence mousse. Very inexpensive with great hold!❤

Lori Miller: I love the way you give step by step instructions. I’m a Cosmetologist and I so appreciate your attention to detail to make up and beyond. You are realistic and are helping so many that just get lost in the process. Again you are so beautiful inside and out ❤️

Enigma: Love your hair! I was taught from a very early age to hate my natural hair so I had been chemically straightening my hair for decades. I finally decided to stop that about 10 or so years ago. I don't know whether I love my hair yet but I've come to accept it as it is. When I think about all the money I spent chemically straigtening, I could scream. That money could have gone into retirement and I would be sipping pina coladas on the beach somewhere now.

K Rush: Noticed your curly hair on your thrift shop video and commented requesting a video on how to get the look! Thank you for listening to your viewers. I am a straight hair woman who now has hair turning curly post menopause and as more gray takes over! So definitely in a transition stage and trying to achieve a style that follows what my hair is doing naturally.

Carol Fassl: I started embracing my curls about 3 months ago. Love the ease of it all!

Lydia Thornton: Love your hair curly, Dominique!! From one curly girl to another - thank you for this video!!

Leslie Kersha Living: I am a curly/wavy girl, and I used to always straighten or curl my hair—until 2020. While at home, I embraced my curls, and I am SO glad I did. My hair is healthier and longer than ever, and I now LOVE my curls!

Kenia Kennedy: From one curly head gal to another I love this video! I have had the same thoughts my whole life and since Covid I’ve embraced my curls……there are so many good products and tutorials out there now! Here’s to our curls ladies!

Kim Bosch: Thank you for this video! I love the girly curl techniques. The gel cast, and then breaking it when your hair is dry, was a complete eye-opener for me.

Susan Keenan: Really glad to see you do this tutorial enhancing your natural curl. Love this curly look on you as well as the smooth look. It's nice to have the variety when the mood strikes

Nancy Ross: I am 67 with long hair (midway down my back) that I began growing out about 5 years ago from a super-short pixie that I had been wearing for many years. It wasn't until I began growing it out that I discovered how wavy/curly it actually is. Photos from high school and college (when I last had long hair) confirmed that I was always a wavy haired gal, but it was smooth and wavy back then. What has changed? I live in hot, humid South Florida and am post-menopausal, so now my long, curly hair (which also has some wiry silvers/grays here and there) also gets a halo of frizz, especially on my face-framing front pieces. The struggle is real.

tamara slate: I love that you listened to your viewers and made a curly hair tutorial. I embraced my curls years ago. It’s a whole different journey with curls. One day the curls may cooperate on the next day not so much. Curly haired gals are always watching the weather. Wind is not our friend. The overnight care is critical as to how your hair will look in the morning for your refresh. Daily washing is NOT for curly hair as it is too drying. It’s true my straight haired friends always love my curls and I’m always wishing I had straight hair especially if I’m having a frizzy bad hair day thanks for the video as always you present a top notch tutorial.

Connie Rose Knows: This video was just what I needed! At 61, I just recently discovered my natural wavy hair. It’s been a process getting it to behave. You gave so many great tips, and I incorporated a few today. They did the trick! Thank you for all of your information, and I agree with everyone else you look amazing in your natural curly hair!

ljmsrm: You can also use a 3/4 or 1/2 inch curling iron to smooth down the cuticle and make the curls last longer. This is especially useful on 2nd day hair. It takes the top layer of frizz away and helps the curls look a little more defined.

Jackie Diamond: Thank you for this video! As a curly gal in Florida the humidity is a big factor. Using a diffuser is no help. I appreciate your tips and love your curly hair

Mangoz Foldingz: Thank you for inspiring me to embrace my curls!!

Lisa Gana: Great tutorial Dominque. I have long curly hair and embraced these curls during covid but as soon as we were freed into the world again, I was back to blowing it out. People don't realize that curly hair is more work that Stright. All that said I've been thinking of cutting to shoulder length and embrace the curl once again so thank you for the product tips. One can really waste so much money on trying to find the right product(s).

barbara morris: I love your natural curls! I have naturally wavy, lightly curly hair. I wore it naturally for several years throughout my 40s. But I found as I’ve aged (I’m 62) the texture of my hair changed some and I have so much less curl in the front than the back now. Also, my highlights basically removed what curl there was in the front. And after trying to work with it as curly for several months last year, I decided that with the changes to my face shape from aging, I just don’t like how I look with wavy/curly hair anymore. Since I live in humid Florida, I get keratin treatments to help me deal with the frizz. And I have let it grow a little longer (kind of a lob) so that when my rogue waves decide to make an appearance, it doesn’t ruin the look of a sleekly styled bob.

Music Lover: It is fun to bond with other curly gals! I am multi textural. Curly, wavy and straight in different sections of my head. It takes some finesse to get a consistent look but when I nail it, I love it! Waiting it out takes patience as my hair doesn’t dry quickly. Thanks for the product suggestions.

r c: Your cut is fabulous. I love that it looks equally great curly or straightened. Thanks for the great tips.

Marion Andrews: Love the way you always keep it real. Since COVID and remote work, I’ve embraced my curly hair. My hair has healed so much since I stopped the constant heat and flat ironing.

Rose Plata: So true Dominique. Us curly girls just need to embrace our sweet wild curls! ❤ you look so adorable!

Vicky Corey: I have curly hair also. You need to wear it natural more often! Those curls frame your face and I just love this video! My sister has her own hair salon so I've been really blessed. I have mine in a bob and some days are curly and some straight.

Mary Ann Ratcliff: So glad you embraced your curls. I’m 71 and recently became ill and can not do all the blow drying so I’ve been trying to embrace my curls but had the same frizz thing going on. My frizz serum on wet hair with gentle maneuvering worked like a charm. I used Paul Mitchell Gloss. Thank you for your product tips.

Stacey Wilkie: Looking beautiful with your curls Dominique x I also have curly hair and gave up trying to straighten it, so I just let it do it's own thing now! xxx

Lilian Austin: Thank you Dominique! I have been TRYING to let my curly hair do its own thing as I am so tired of styling it straight. I've been (somewhat) happy..but I'm going follow your advice and see how I go

Ellen Obrock: I have curly hair. These are great ideas. I’ve learned that when my hair is shorter my curls are better . My takeaway from this video is spritzing the curls and reshaping them as they dry. And bringing some in my purse for touch ups. ❤

Gale Slocum: Thank you for this! I had super straight hair all my life until I got older. Now I have exactly what you’re referring to! Curly with that frizz on the outside layer. I’ve never been able to get it right. Hopefully, now I will! Yours is gorgeous! ❤

Sara Guthrie-Independent Color Street Stylist: Great tutorial! I just got a perm one week ago and learning to style!!! ❤

Jacki Pauls: Great tutorial! I live in SC &decided not to fight my hair this summer. This video came at the perfect time. Just didn't know what products to try. So thank you

Edie Ohoxoxo: Your curls look darling...love that you are embracing your natural curls. I'm a curly woman and I REALLY appreciate this video. As I've gotten older, my hair has really changed. After menopause, I let my gray come out, my thick curls became thinner and fine. So I am not used to styling this curly unfamiliar mop on my head!!! :/ Thank you so much. xoxo

Susan Hodor: Adorable! When I let my hair go natural many years ago, I used a "pick"" at the end of it getting dry just on the under side to give it volume. Your cut is perfect for this curl styling. Still encourage you to try a thin hair band which will also give you volume.

Janet P: Love your curls Dominique! I have wavy hair and love it. I also grew out my grey during Covid. Embracing my natural self!!!

hollylixey: Thank you so much for this video. I’m 53 with naturally curly hair and have a similar cut as you. I’ve recently discovered the Denman brush and I love it. I can’t believe it took me so long to discover it. Volume, definition, and less frizz. I also live in Houston.

Alexis Smith Macklin, PhD: Tried these techniques out yesterday - had similiar products to what you showed but never got the results. Your techniques did the trick! Day two - and my hair looks amazing! NO FRIZZ :) Real curls! Thank you so much, Dominique!

Maria DeSantis: Love this! Curly girl as well‍♀️ finally wearing my natural curls and a lot less straightening and a whole lot of diffusing!

Peaches Skin Care: Love this. I am also a curly haired girl and I wear it straight as well. Thank you!lisa

charisse filteau: 2 products that I've used in the past that are brilliant at taming frizz are John Frieda's Dream Curls (can be found at Target) and/or BOING by Unite (found at hari salons or online). Spray to saturate hair immediately after showering, I usually flip my head over to be sure and get the underneath as well, scrunch then use a diffuser and hair dryer. Viola! Frizz free curls:) Cheers!

Holly McCord: Appreciate this tutorial! Thank you for listening to our request

Mónica Cuello: Your hair tutorials are superb!! Thank you!!

Sharon Czalbowski: What you resist persists.. Started once again, styling my natural curly, wavy hair and I like it! Tired of fighting it, blow drying, using a curling iron. Never thought about not rinsing all my conditioner out. good idea. I like the Virtue brand. Thanks Dominique, great tips.

Pilar Riera Hernández: Thanks for including us "curliers" in your routines you look beautiful and fresh!!!

Susan.: I love that you are wearing it curly. I have curly hair and feel that finding a curly stylist who cuts it dry has been a key

Lee Ryan: I am a curl gal as well whose hair goes frizzy. I picked up a couple of tips and tried them out and am amazed at the difference. New routine going forward. Thanks for the tips.

Diane Schebetta: I had really curly hair when it came in after chemo after being born with really fine straight hair. What a challenge. A lot of it eventually went away but it did stay wavy and lots of cowlicks. Fun video.

Nicole Caudillo: I am 50 and have curly hair too. The best my hair looks is in dry climates, it is so true. Northern Utah is so dry and my hair responds well. I love my curly hair, always have even though it was hard to deal with at times. Thankful for all the hair care choices there are now. I have been using the Kristen Ess line and loving it. Again, like always thank-you for your videos!

powder131: I’m in between both, leaning towards wavy!! You have such a talent to do hair your hair looks beautiful straight or curly thanks for sharing and teaching us!!

Nancy Sharapata: Hi Dominique thank you so much for the video. I love curly hair in the summer.its so fun. Your hair looks amazing and beautiful as always. Have an amazing day today. Big hugs.

Susan Bowen: ❤ Love your curls! Beautiful style and color….suits you well!

Maxine Mewis: Hi Dominique, great tutorial! I have a naturally wavy light blonde Bob and I totally agree with you about air drying hair. Mine is best air dried in terms of frizz. But I use my Dyson hair dryer with diffuser in a rush. I always use a good hair oil too in the ends. Thank you for this. Much love from the UK xxx

Dolores Nash: As a 70 yr old I have come to love my curly hair and embrace it. All my lady friends at church are jealous of curls! I live in Panama City Beach Fl. The humidity mostly makes my hair curlier, so I do use a serum to calm it. Thanks for the tips!!

Robyn Staton: Thank you so much Dominique! I have french poodle curly hair. Your tutorial and and list of products is so helpful!!! I don’t wear my hair curly very often, because growing up in the late 60’s & 70’s girls were so mean. The names are stuck in my head! However, I am going to give these products a try!

Chelsa Brinkman: I always love that you introduce new products, but that you are never trying to push or sell them. Doing unsponsored videos gives you so much credibility and we, the audience, get new ideas of what is out there.

Aleyna Segura: So nice to see you embracing your curls. I have also started to do that and my hair has gotten much healthier. Also, that was a lovely blouse. Can you share the brand?

Gloria Boyette: Extremely helpful tutorial Dominique. You look adorable in this hair style.

Roxanne Hanson: I’d love to be able to wear my naturally curly hair, but it takes more than 8 hours for it to dry naturally because it’s so thick. Dominique, this video was shot beautifully. I could tell a difference in the quality. It’s like you were in HD or 4K!

Valery Biancardi: Thank you for your tips and tricks! I fight with my curls all the time and living in our beautiful city of Houston makes it very difficult to embrace them! I’m going to try some of your ideas❤ Thanks for another great video!

Luna300: Very true about wanting what we don't have. I have friends that do those relaxer treatments, but I like my wavy hair so don't want to rid of it completely. Love these tips.

Sophie Samuels: I love your curly hair, Dominique you are blessed ❤️

Kerin Flattery: I love your hair curly! You rock it! ❤

Janice Brito: Hi Dominique I appreciate this video as I am also a curly haired gal!! The products that you recommended look great!! I have to say I absolutely loved your makeup look, everything about it gorgeous!!!✨

Judy Jeffries Corbutt: Thx for this video. I have very wavy hair and I also started to work with it instead of all my life against it. And yes as you stated we always want what we don't have but now being older I am more at peace with my older self.

N F: Hi Dominique. I appreciate this video because I have the same type of hair as you. I do many if the techniques you do such as air drying but I still have issues with frizz on those humid days. Thank you for sharing your tips. ‍♀️

Anny G: You had me at ....shaking your head to let your hair find its own part.. I do the very same since my hair does its own thing anyway.❤️

melanielynn56: I have long straight hair, but enjoyed watching the curly gal routine. You are a delight and remind me to take good care of me (Grandma helping raise 3 of her Grandkids)!

Amy Yates: great video! i am a curly-haired girl, too, and everything you said was spot on! thanks so much!

Theresa Burch: Hi Pretty Lady, Thank you, Thank you!! I needed this video. Got the same type of hair as you. I will be for sure doing blonde highlights like yours - As always, thanks for the inspiration! P.S. love the make-up too

Loretta Gomez: I’m going to grow my curly hair back. You have inspired me. ❤

Chris Tubbs: So glad you addressed this. I have the same issue! Love the takeaways. Thank you!

Diane M: Your curls look fabulous on you. My hair is much curlier on my left side than my right side. It's a battle to match both sides. I have to scrunch on one side and pull on the other :) Thank you for the tips and product recommendations. Hope you have a beautiful weekend.

zebra love: I've recently started using coconut oil in a spray bottle on dry hair and it's been a big success. Just one spray on my palms, lightly applied to my hair, spraying on directly was too flattening. It's A Ten spray is also good. I love your more natural look, hair and make up both. It's great advice to lean in to what we do have.

🍭CandyLH: Love your curls Dominique!!! I have wavy hair not as curly and it’s more finicky. Too much moisturizer and my waves are flat. It’s an experiment everyday ❤️

Claudia L. Gonzalez: Curly or straight …the bottom line is a great haircut! And great coloring… Thank you for your tips and to remind us to honor what God gave us and to stop struggling so much……and over processing our hair!!

Nathalie Liautaud: As a curly haired woman, I sincerely appreciate these tips!!!!

Carol Cavallo: Oh my goodness…..thank you for this video….yep, my curly hair has a life of its own. In fact when I was in High school I had it professionally straightened….after I got married, I found out my sister in law had very curly hair, in fact, when I met her she was ironing her hair with her Moms iron on the ironing board….sooooo she and I decided to straighten it ourselves……OMG….I wished we had phones back then…not to be gross, but the solution reminded us of snot ! LOL…..fast forward, I am now 76, on a medication for Rheumatoid Arthritis…..side effect ? Hair loss, so now I have fine thinning hair…..frizzy curls….I use a lot of products to keep it as healthy as I can….and I totally enjoyed this video…..thanks for the tips !!! ♥️

Shell Cshells: I have super curly hair and I find that the number one thing in my routine is getting a good, good conditioner! This eliminates most of my frizz. I also use a curl cream.

Cathy Hanson: Hi Dominick, thanks so much for the tips. I have natural curly hair but it is past my shoulders. My problem has always been that it was flat on top so I did not ever wear it curly because I didn’t know what to do with the top. These were some great tips…

Sandee Pettit: My hair is just exactly like yours. I'm 68 years old and it's only been within the last 10 years that I've let my hair go natural. ALL be It I was a hairdresser for 40 years. Had lots of opportunities to straighten my hair and keep it pretty straight here in Colorado. But I do know there's no straightening it in humid weather! Love love love your videos❣️❣️❣️

neanea: Looks wonderful! I have curl I need to learn how to style! Thanks for the tips. Love the lipstick too.

Teena Covert: I love your curly hair! It is so youthful!

4 Week Workout: I got an inverted bob today and the stacking she did in the back is far shorter than the picture I showed her! ‍♀️ I was feeling so anxious in the salon when she showed me the finished product. But I actually thought of you and thought, ya know I bet if this happened to Dominique she would just own it and rock the look. I came home and used all the styling tips you’ve given over the years and when my husband saw me he actually complimented me on how stylish it looks - and he does not like short hair! Just wanted to say thank you. I really would have cried had I not been watching you all these years!

Julie Harpa: Looks so beautiful Dominique ,your curls suits you so much ,own those curls❤️

Vickie Finney: I love your videos, I feel like we're just two gals sitting around talking and having a good time ☕

joan kircher: Thank you for the tutorial and the encouragement

Christine OConnor: I have natural curly hair and Hated it all my life. I always wear it smooth because in Arizona I can. My adult daughter has curls and loves it. She embraces it and I always thought how lucky she is to have such curls. After I saw your video this morning I decided to wear my hair natural and as I am writing you my hair is curly!!! and it actually looks good. Just have to practice with it. Thank you for the video.

Vi Montie: OH thank you for doing this video! You have such wonderful ideas and suggestions. and YES I believe we do rinse out the conditioner. And now I can put aside the blow dryer and the hot curling iron for a while. I have always loved to allow my hair to dry naturally. It seems to look thicker and more healthy. So now I am going to run in the bathroom and do my thing. You are the best ever and we love you girl!

Carol Holland: I think your curly hair is sweet and fresh! It also helps to use a silk or satin pillowcase at night to keep curls moisturized and reduce frizz.

Anne H: I'm a curly haired gal too....thank you for your helpful tips Dominique.

Tomena Reed: thank you so much for sharing!!! I know you did this just for me

Nanette Alsop: Wow! I never knew your hair was so curly - it looks great ⭐ I'm going to try the Kristin Es thickening spray you suggest, as my hair is so thin and flat. Love watching your videos

Rose Maria Avena: You look good with short hair Dominique and you rock it well. I've been tempting to chop my hair short and I would try this trick to determine exactly how I would look with a significant shorter hair. I get a 6 inch ruler, a pencil and a mirror. I stand in front of a mirror with the side of my face in view, and hold the pencil horizontally so that it’s touching my chin, and then position the ruler vertically beneath my ear so that the pencil and ruler intersect. Next, I measure the distance from the bottom of my earlobe to the top of the pencil. If it’s less than 2.25 inches from my ear to the pencil then a chin-length cut will look great on me. If it’s more than 2.25 inches, I may want to consider keeping it a bit longer on the shoulder length. Dominique, you have a great face shape structure, angle and jaw bone. Theres been instances in the past where I did get my hair cut short and the stylist uses hair thinning scissors like sheers which made my hair frizzier and prone to split ends and breakage of my curls. Finally, I decided to go short without using sheers this time and got a cut that resembles the popular 1976 Dorothy Hamil haircut. As I hit almost 60, I know, I'm not going to ever have long hair again due to menopause and thinning of my front hair shaft. I bought a collection of nice wigs and its amazing how different I look. And its fun to wear on an evening event like going out to the bar or casino etc. etc.

trinichandy: You have beautiful curls Dominique! Thanks for sharing.
