Hey beautiful welcome to my channel welcome back to my channel if you've been here before it's your girlfriend, also known as curly Proverbs. Your resident hair growth hype woman coming at you with ayurvedic and African inspired treatments for hair growth. Today, guys we're doing a little bit of a different video. I actually sat down with my cousin-in-law teacher and we talked through her hair routine and her secret to her incredible hair. Wait till you see it literally. Her hair is oh, my gosh down to her actual knees, um and I have to apologize because the quality of the actual video we shot is horrific. Um, I didn't have my camera with me. I loaned somebody's camera. I don't think I adjusted its settings correctly and I didn't realize it was out of focus the whole time right, but that said, I feel like she had some gems to drop and what she said was so valuable, because I really did learn something important from it. I'M going to cut to that clip now and enjoy SpongeBob y'all ready for this wait. Wait it's just way too. This is her knees. It'S literally a literally an inch from her knees. Bro! That'S ridiculous! Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait! Wait! Is it down to your actual knees, yep, so hi guys? So this is my cousin sister Deisha. I know you guys are going to be super curious as to what she does, but I was so happy when I sat down to talk to her about some of the principles she uses were very familiar. So welcome to my channel teacher. Thank you. Okay. So can you please first off um tell me what is the thing that you cannot do without in your routine? That is oily oiling! Yes, okay! So um, if you say you say, first of all the oil that you use and second of all, how often so, first of all the oil which I use - that's the coconut oil. It could be a waste coconut oil or it could be a pure coconut oil, and I do it twice a week. I keep it for two days, especially in case I'm not able to do twice a week. Yes, one day, definitely every single week. So when you say you say like a coconut or like a coconut blend, blended oil, okay, right, fantastic - and so do you warm it up or anything before you apply it to the hair. Yes, I warm it up a little bit because it smoothens your skin more and cold coconut oil. It doesn't suit much. It can dry up your skin. Ah, so you should drive your scalp. So if somebody's using coconut oil and they're experiencing a drier scalp, it might be that it would help if they just warmed it up. Yes, yes, it will always help you when you warm up it: okay, okay and so the actual process of applying it like how much oil like do you apply to your hair? Oh for me, I just keep it it's about. Maybe depends upon what kind of hair strength you have the entirely, but you should do it in the entire massage. You need to give at least a half an hour to put the oil on yourself. 30 minutes. Yes, I have it's been years since I have done like. Oh my gosh. Have I ever even done 30 minute massages. I think mostly like five minute. Five minutes. I am learning Okay, so you warm it up. You grab, you put it in like a bowl for like application, yes, and then, like you, just start here and go right, the way to this um and then like what are you looking for like when you apply it like how how much oil are you really Putting like to open the front section, for example like: is it soaked through or is it just like to you know just to coat it lightly, just to cut it properly, not lightly, but yes, properly? Okay, but yes not so much that it's just let your bed sheet get destroyed. Okay, okay! So that's the main reason you have to give 30 minutes because then it goes inside your roots. Oh okay, and in case you don't get that much time. It'S just on your strength. I can spoil you so you're, basically going out about you're putting it in the head. You keep like massaging it, it's something like that. I do so. You keep keep doing that yeah. I can do it. First of all, I just go on here. I just put one of the uh. What do you say, uh between Mark and fine, or in just going like this, with my tip of my hair, I just say your fingers: yes, fingertips just keep it because that's the easy I put in the oil. I just put all four fingers and then I just keep it like that. It just go all inside my scalp and then I just do it all like this with my Palms so out here when you come, you have to do it like this with your palms. So that it gets properly inside your strands as well, and that's so, I thought it was just half an hour in the scalp, so you're also being ready all together, because in case you just do it over your ears up so they'll not get strengthened and you'll Get the split ends very easily okay, and so do you do the oil? Do you do the scalp, massage yourself or no? No, if you do it by yourself, you'll get exalted. It'S best that you get it done from someone in case. You don't have anyone, then. Yes, you have to do it right also, or I would not suggest to go to the pile her brother because they just do it very quickly on your upper hair. They don't go on the strands. Okay, so that's so interesting like I know, I've always talked about the fact that oiling is a really big thing like um, so it will be normally. Mom would do for the daughter so like now that you're out of the house she stays in um. She stays in accommodation like she works in a different state, so she has like a roommate, you would say, and so, if they, both oil, each other's hair, 30 minutes boom. That'S what we're doing this evening, girls, like literally oil, each other's hair and ends and then swap around um and apparently her hair is even thicker. Yes, is it longer or so yeah they are shorter than me. They are, rather, I would say, less than or more than half half yeah, so you say like up to here: okay, waistline, so there is blend, but even thicker, but even thicker than me guys. This is this is insane so you put that in and you leave so basically what she's saying is in a week where she does her routine fully. She oils as a pre-shampoo treatment for two days, she's left that in then you go ahead and shampoo and then you leave a couple of days and then you oil for two days and then you shampoo again correct so four days out the week. Her hair is like super heavy with oil scalp all the way to eggs and then like so when you've gone ahead and you've washed your hair. Do you use hair masks, or do you skip that yeah? You know I skipped up. I only use occasionally in case I've gone to some heating products, they're exposed to some heating products - that, oh that's when you definitely make sure that make sure I use the conditioner on it or a must and like what kind of conditioner. Is it like? More of a Moisturizing Conditioner, it's almost so moisturizer. Okay, do you ever like, add any herbs or any strengthening bits into it? Um, not so much okay, because it's a normal conditioner, which I use with my specific shampoo. Okay, yes, okay, so you have like your little bamboo conditioner, yes, combo, that you use yeah, okay, Fab and then like when you're in during the week. Do you leave your hair out like this or like? What do you know? I always keep them tired, always because so that they don't get exposed to do dust to pollution. They'Re always tired, very important guys. So, basically, out of my three main ayurvedic principles like that, I'm always mentioning or like just general principles for maintaining hair one oil and she or she goes hard like she goes way harder than me. Like I'm telling you, I have been literally in the land of hair, and I am super motivated when I get back hair growth challenges will be coming um and the other thing is, she always protects her ends, but she only uses like hair, masks and conditioners on Her knee when she feels like her hair needs it, which kind of is a principle. We'Ve talked about as well like observing what you feel your hair needs and she really does keep it simple oil two days, shampoo, literally air, yes and guess what every woman that I have asked literally, I have been. I have been asking so I've been in a wedding and um. Not everyone wants to appear on camera, but every single woman I've asked: what is the thing you can't do without it's oiling so um? Definitely I'm gon na um insert an example of the oil that you use, like you could share, which, which brand that you use I'm gon na share that down below. Of course, we have the coconut oil based fenugreek Elixir, that's going to be linked below um and our new release, which is a golden one, which is great for applying two roots and ends as well. That'S all going to be linked below. If you want to check it out and um yeah until next time, stay best, bye,

BrownGal PeaceLounge: Your instructional videos helped me get my hair in the healthiest condition it has ever been. It’s thicker and longer than ever before. I discovered the power of Henna and Amla through your channel. I actually look forward to wash days now… as I consider it a precious form of self care. Thank you for all that you do @Curly Proverbz. You are a gem!

Lawsome: Not only is her hair extremely long but it's very healthy and shiny not a split end in sight I love it!

Jas: 30 minutes?! Welp. If the good woman says 30 min then 30 minutes it is starting today I’m letting everyone in my house know we’re setting up a schedule to determine their days of the week to massage my scalp. Seriously, all jokes aside this just confirms the conclusion I came to about a year ago when I decided I wanted hair down my back. While I am aware genetics play a role in hair, I am convinced that everyone with ridiculously long hair has to work at it. Period. There’s no way around it. Like everything else in life, if you want long hair, you have to be committed to the process.

Ms C: My auntie was Jamaican her hair past her knees beautiful hair exactly like this women - She always had in a bun too, then got fed up and chopped it all off to short like a boy - she was so happy! She's passed now but she had no regrets she once said she would never grow it long again.

Angel Williams: I started using just oils on my hair. I have low porosity hair so I spray it with warm water first and massage that in and then apply warm oil but I didn’t know to massage it in longer. Thanks for that tip! Will keep my hair up from the elements. Your cousin has helped me a lot! I have shoulder length hair. Working on waist length maybe even knee length if possible!

Aquariana: Both of you have beautiful hair❤ I have been watching your videos for yearrrs and you have never failed me! Oiling, tea rinses/sprays, and Ayurvedic herbs are the truth. I look forward to more of your amazing videos. Bless

Tiwonge Dimba: ❤️❤️ Farida. I'm from Zambia and came across Farida almost 4 years ago when I had string shoulder length relaxed hair, I went natural after a big chop 2 years ago and my hair is already passing shoulder length. My goal is waist length and I'm following her advice. I'm very lazy though so trying to find my balance with what could work for me. This was great thanks

cps525i: When my hair was relaxed many years ago, I was oiling it presampoo overnight with olive oil and my hair was always healthy and strong. When I went natural the first few years I was oiling my hair with a combo of coconut oil, olive oil and avocado oil and my hair grew strong and long. It's still long, but I really need to go back to the oiling

lgunt004: One tip that I picked up a few months ago from AfrikanHairGod and NaturalAcacademia is spending time to smooth the oil/product into your hair strands. I can see your cousin uses a similar technique. I have 4c hair and this has been a game changer in that my hair actually soaks in the product and I barely have any tangles. My hair is soft, hydrated, and I only need to reapply the product weekly. I know this isn't the traditional approach but I oil my scalp with sulfur 8. And I use a mix of one of the Blue Magic creamy leave-ins, a blue magic grease, and a few drops of grape seed oil. My hair is oily at first, but the product soaks in by the next day, and then I'm good to go for the week.

M Kujeke: Oiling has been sooo helpful in my relaxer stretch, my hair is a lot thicker too! I use olive oil as a hot oil prepoo to detangle and fenugreek/peppermint oil has reduced my hair fall during weekly washes.

Carolann Spence: Thanks for sharing! This conversation about hair is a great format to bring other people testimonies about their hair journey. Oiling will be part of my hair routine. ❤

Leslie Terry: Thanks for sharing, I’m starting to understand that for me to retain length I need to keep my ends tucked away. So I see why her hair is so beautiful and long. ❤

Jazmyne Grace: When I first got started with my hair care Journey I used to love watching Indian hair care videos. Definitely a great place to start

LA: That’s really intimate and great for bonding. Beautiful! I can just about get my mum and sister to oil my scalp, these lot are never going to massage oil into my hair for 30 mins I guess I’m gonna have a good arm workout!

Lovely One: I hope women don’t dismiss her advice because of her ethnic background…..

Bianca’s Law: I wish we could see this in action. I can’t imagine walking around with my hair drenched in oil for days. Maybe like a planned wash weekend? A Friday afternoon / night and wash on Sunday? Chille this takes commitment.

Yeslia B: Wow , thanks for sharing this good info.. This dispels the myth that oil is not needed to grow hair !!! You presented receipts

Nyotakikora1: I am here for this sis!!! So excited, and thankful for this video

ValerieDenise: These are gems! Can you record her performing the process please?

JoAnne Wells: Both of you have beautiful hair. Knee length? Go fo it! I’ll take healthy waist length.

Leah McLean Tewari: These methods work for all hair types. This is great stuff! ❤❤❤❤

Dani Girl: Thanks for the tips. Your cousins hair looks very healthy.

Jacky Wairegi: Lovely insights.... I need to get back to oiling my hair twice a week. Also, the video quality is not as bad as you described it at the beginning

Shan76: Can I be real with you CP? Your hair looks amazing at the length in the intro! But I know you're going for thigh length so imma shut up LOVED this video!!♥️ I'm bout to get it in with oiling and massaging!!

Ccc Ttt: Great video! So what is the oil brand your cousin in-law uses? Or what are the coconut oil blend ingredients? Could we see your cousin in-law in a video with you demonstrating her hair day oiling and shampoo routine so we can see exactly how she's doing it? Thank you✨

keiya Mcmorris: We really need to believe nurture will outweigh nature...all things are possible....I just need someone who will massage my hair for 30 min. Thanks again farida!

Rissie 🗣️: 1. Put WARM oil in your hair (The lady in the video uses plain coconut oil) and massage your scalp at some point... 2. Leave it in for 2 days WRAP YOUR HAIR UP AND LEAVE IT ALONE 3. Shampoo 4. Repeat So she has a 4 day hair routine. Y'all are welcome!! That's it???? ‍‍‍‍‍ Like for real????? ‍‍‍‍‍

Renée: Now that I think about it, I had my strongest and longest hair when I was using coconut oil as my weekly prepoo... I'm adding it to my grocery list right now.

Kitya C: I think you and your cousin are absolutely right about oiling your hair. I remember back when I was a kid in the 70s, my aunt used to oil, then massage our scalps (my sister and I) every week with royal crown hair grease and Sulfur 8. I have 4C hair and that really helped to keep it healthy and free of breakage. Just about every kid in my neighborhood got their scalp oiled and massaged. I had forgotten about that for years until I saw one of your videos on the benefits of using oils. For the coconut oil, I'm going to try the suggestion of warming first. It sounds like coconut oil may be similar to honey in that the properties change when it's warmed, versus cool or room temperature.

Cassidie Hailley: Your hair looks lovely I like what you've done with it looks shiny.

audrey titchoup: Even if we do not haave the same hair texture, her routine is interesting ! I have to give this a try

Danielle Williams: I don’t even oil my ends, but since putting into practice oiling my scalp and doing weekly deep conditioning with herbs… my growth has exploded! But my gosh her hair is insane!

Alana Lakeish: Your hair will grow right back sweetheart. Thank you for sharing your journey

Wazakauye Zulu: Good advice. Definitely taking what can apply. My hair strands are too fine for just conditioner need strengthening treatments

Damaris Rodriguez: Thanks so much for sharing this video Farida. Very helpful, God bless your cousin's . God bless and enjoy your weekend. ❣️

Samantha Breinburg: What a great video. Thank you so much. Let the hair growth challenge begin! I am wondering... Will you do a meet and greet this year?

Rasha Sharif: I have been doing the warming up and the 30 minutes at home and salon. Mashallah, mashallah, she has a great hair but I am sure she never cut it or grew it out when she was in the growing years. I know many people who did that and still keeping and maintaining long hair.

Trina Marie TV: Awesome video! Thanks for sharing I will begin oiling my scalp more than I do.

Jazmyne Grace: Her hair is so long and pretty!

EVERBABYGIRL: I love hair oiling it does transforms your hair. Thanks for sharing so many tips.❤❤

Bobbie Johnson: Thank you so much for this video. Are we talking about just a regular jar of coconut oil? If so me and the kids hair is about to be coconut oiled down!!!!

She Infinite44: Peaceee! Knee length is my goal. Thanks for this video.

Arlene Osborne: Faridah, forgive me if I misspelled your name. Cousin's hair is beautiful. I love to see gorgeous women of color working together.

Colette Campbell: let’s do an oil challenge

Priti Aggarwal: Hi, recently discovered your channel and found it useful. I have wavy curly hair and they are very fine and are grey as well. I like to use natural henna for the same but I get cold easily. Also, because of curly texture, I need to apply conditioner on the day of head wash and cant comb my hair everyday. Could you lay down a road map for girls like me who would like to adopt natural things yet cant do it fully as preparing everything from scratch is a bit of a task for working women like us. Also, as a starter which remedy of yours should i follow first and for what problem of mine. I need to work on hair breakage, hair fall, hair strength and thickness, their growth and grey hair. And lately I am getting face acne due to hair oil. What should be done? Thanks in advance.

DeLinda Williams: Wow! Super hair growth! Nice! I have been slacking on oiling and need to massage my scalp and hair more. Nice tips.❤❤

khabirah abdul-azeez: Thank you for sharing this video! What oil blend did your cousin use?

Tali R: i love your energy

Aaileyah Lynn: Coconut is like the # 1 oil Indians use besides sesame but coconut causes so many problems in the natural hair community. It personally dries my hair out and gives me an overload and I've heard this from other as well. So maybe not this oil but still the same technique regimen.

Alisa Johnson: Both women have beautiful hair. My goal is healthy hair and retaining hair on my head. I will be 67 on Tuesday and quite honestly l don't know what l would do with knee length hair. ,but l like techniques, products, herbs vitamins, etc that help with maintaining a thick, healthy head of hair. Thanks for sharing all the information.

Ameerah : She looks Indian. They have nice hair. Also I think genetics plays a part too.. I will try the massaging the scalp and warm the oil. I do think the massages may contribute to hair growth

Fiona: So is the oil your cousin is using the Elixir oil on your website? Also do you use amla in henna or how else can you apply on hair. Still trying to figure out what kind of black Heena to use to. Any suggestions?

Trazon McMullen: Her hair is GORGEOUS and so thick...OMG!

Negra Caribeña: Thank you for sharing Farida! Thank you for sharing! I need this in my life! My hair is going through it because I was sick for a while and I was not able to care for it like I should have.

ChinaLeone: Would the messaging part work with a head messager instead of just using your hands? Cuz messaging for 30 mins seems so long and my hands be getting numb from just messaging for 2 minutes

Curls Beauty: Thanks for that simple routine does work.

ColdDiva: New self care challenge…oiling/massaging anyone!?!‍♀️

ElegantPaws01: Thank you for these tips. Ayurveda has been a saving grace and my hair is where I want it now and it has thickened greatly. Literally diy infused oils and massaging has been a saving grace and has totally fulfilled my hair goals and pushed my genetic predisposition to the max. Be logical. Do you think Indian women for eons would have such practices if they did not work?

Siham al: I believe the most thing that they do that we don’t is scalp massages which is so well known to make hair longer, thicker and stronger even without oiling.. My hair doesn’t like coconut oil even products that contains it my hair doesn’t work well with them, I tried so many oils and for some reason my hair does much better without oiling as oiling makes my hair dry even if I left it for 1 day and my scalp gets itchy, I tried all oils out there organic ones, Jamaican black castor oil, almond, you name it I tried it, as they say get to know your hair and do what your hair likes not what works for others. Since I followed that advice my hair grows much healthier and thicker then before even though I was oiling a lot before, but my hair wasn’t this thick and healthy..

Marta Salvi: Hi can you pls do a video on best products for people who are protein sensitive also is using coconut oil bad for people who are protein sensitive ? Can you pls do a video clearing that out ? Also which are the best oils for hair thickening and length ? Many thanks kind regards and GOD bless

d b: Thank you cousin

Carmen Shirley: While I love this video and it’s recommendations, I am a little skeptical about this routine can be applied to my hair type. I am a 4A,B and C over all my head. You and your cousin have. Beautiful hair but it is not my type. If I apply oil every 2-3 days, it weighs down my hair. Please modify these recommendations for other hair types. TY

Polly W: Thank you

solarLola: Don’t know who will message my head for 30 minutes But I will try oiling for days before washing

nika ward: I’m going to try your method is applying warm coconut oil because every time I apply oil it scratches and my scalp is dry

Lita 631: I'm loving your ponytail.

TRUTHSERUM: Oiling ends 2 day prepoo ✅

Shandalla Sánchez: @curlyproverbz did she say olive and coconut mix or olive first then coconut oil? My best friend introduced me to your channel she is African American like me and her hair is but length. I love your methods. She also uses oiling you all might be on to something.

: Could I use the garlic infused olive oil you can get from the cooking aisle in the supermarket in my hair? I can’t afford your one

MB: Really good info! Curious, did she mention how she sleeps on it with all that oil? I'm guessing with a plastic cap...?

She'Quon Hansen: I'm so curious about the shampoo he cousin uses? Did she mention it and I missed it??

Diane Weekes: Yesss mrs curly my OG yessss

Auchie Thomas: Indian hair grows very fast and very long

solarLola: Which oil does she use?

Bonnie Carey: What oil does she use?

Alicia Tyndale: You forgot to link the brand of coconut oil she uses

Kimberly Epps: The video of your cousin looks good to me.

Mariah J: She shampoos her hair 3 times per week? And immediately applies oil after shampoo? Does she use any leave in conditioners/moisturizers?

ኣድያም: Interesting ❤❤❤

carbunkle311: What’s the point of having such beautiful and long hair if you always have it tied up ?

Nia Born: Hi! sorry what brand of oil dose your cousin use?

Shamika Clements: What products does she use?

Jo Green: Hi and thank you❤

Ronda Smith:

Afaf Mohammed: First comment I'll edit after watching

Eli Silverio: If your hair is easy to detangle is easy to have thick long hair

Diana Charles:

Auchie Thomas: I'll be impressed to see a black woman with knee length giving advice

Debmalya Ray: Is she on Instagram??

Ade Ade: This are genetic .

True Heart: I think knowing how to grow longer strong hair is very valuable, but why on earth would anyone want their hair that long?? You really can’t do much with it! Anything past lower back length is not that attractive to me! But I guess that’s just my opinion.

Kendal: But her hair texture is so different than black people's hair texture. I'm not sure we would get the same results.

Latausha the Author: First one. Hey.

Tori Armstrong: I love you @curlyproverbz my hair is the best shape its been in like ever. Thank you for everything

Ms. Boss: Nice, but I don't think that I want to make my hair my idol; however, I do wish Curly Proverbz all the success in the world.
