Essential oil usage recommendations:

Dilute at a percentage of 1% of the finished blend, typically 20 drops or 1ml of essential oil to 100ml of carrier oil. You can use up to 3% dilution for use on your body or in the bath. Consult your doctor before using during chemotherapy treatment.

Always check if the essential oil is suitable to be used without a carrier oil if using undiluted on the skin. As with any new product always conduct a patch test before first use.

This video is all about some of the benefits of ingredients that come from rosemary and in particular, why i think they can be beneficial and helpful if you're trying to get new hair growth to develop specifically after chemotherapy treatment. Now it may be that you're completely hair free at the moment, perhaps you're towards the end of treatment. Perhaps chemotherapy meant that you lost all of your hair, perhaps your hair, thinned or maybe you're wearing a cold cap and having scalp cooling treatment where you might have had a combination of some of your hair thinning and some of it retaining as well. So this video really is specifically about new hair growth after chemotherapy treatment, i'm going to tell you all about and why i think rosemary can be beneficial, but before we get going onto that, i just want to explain to you that, in my opinion there isn't a Secret ingredients in any one product as the founder of the charity cancer hair care, i'm asked all the time. You know what products will definitely guarantee that my hair will grow back and i haven't discovered that product. Yet if i did, i would love to share it with you, but what i do think is there are some products that have some really lovely, nourishing and nurturing ingredients that have specific benefits and, for me, rosemary, is one of those, but i never recommend that you Start using rosemary products until you've finished your treatment. The reason for that is, if you've lost hair due to chemotherapy and you will have lost your nose hairs now losing your nose. Hairs means that all kinds of scents and fragrances will be hyper vigilant, and you know you're likely to smell things on a heightened level. Many people say after chemotherapy treatment products that they use during their treatment. They really don't like the smell of any more and that's because they can trigger a memory now smells trigger memories, donate of all kinds of things, whether it be a positive or a negative or an in-between memory, but because rosemary is such a very distinctive fragrance. I really don't recommend using it until you've finished your treatment number one. We don't want it to be a bad trigger memory from your time during chemotherapy and number two and a qualified aromatherapist might use rosemary to help stimulate memory and focus because it really is a very strong herb, an essential oil. So when can you use it? I think it's ideal actually once you've finished your chemotherapy to start a new regime to try and stimulate an ideal platform for new hair growth. So i'm just going to explain to you when you lose hair on your head. You'Ve got around an average of about 120 000 individual follicles from which each hair grows. Now, what's happened is during chemotherapy and here the access, if you like to the base of each follicle, has been shut down. So the toxins from the chemotherapy have basically prevented this. Quick rejuvenating cell from functioning properly cutting off the oxygen and the nutrient supply and, as a result, what happens is the hair just falls out during that time? Sometimes the follicle slightly collapses. Now there is a bit of a theory around if you've had a cold cap or scalp, calling that perhaps the follicle doesn't collapse quite as much so it might be more in place. But if you had chemotherapy the chances, are your follicles slightly collapse? What that means is we need to stimulate this area? That'S feeding the follicle so that the root can grow and the hair can start to grow again. Now, just very briefly, if you might have heard of chemo curls, so some people find their hair grows back curly and that's because the shape and texture shape of your hair is determined by the shape of your follicle. If you have a tube shaped follicle, then a straight hair will grow out of it. If you've got curly hair, that's because your is naturally twisted, and so it will grow out in a coil. If you've got afro hair, then it's almost flat at the top and it almost goes out like a zigzag or a coil, depending on the different texture of your hair. Therefore, it's quite common if you've got a collapsed follicle that it's slightly twisted and the new hair could grow out curly often it goes straight again after some time now when it comes to using rosemary it, because it's a stimulant and it helps to increase blood flow. That'S ideal for a platform for new hair growth, so, for example, if you wanted to get a product to use, i love faith in nature. This is a rosemary and conditioner and they also have a shampoo. Now it says on it for balancing normal to oily hair, but i particularly like this one because it's a very light fragrance and it contains some organic rosemary in it, and it's not overpowering the conditioner's, not too weighted. So if you've got very short hair or if your hair's thinned, for example, if you've had scalp cooling, i think it's a great starter product for new hair, but look for products that are volumizing. There'S a nice one by mate, called avalon organics, look for rosemary in products which are gentle and nurturing. Secondly, i quite like this vallado hair tonic now a hair tonic is something you can put directly onto your scalp to massage in it's not too oily. So if you're wearing a wig still or headwear, it's not going to be too overwhelming and that's a really nice stimulating product to use as well. I'Ve also made some videos for you so that you can see how you can use rosemary, essential oil, which is quite inexpensive into fragrance-free shampoos and conditioners. Perhaps you've been using them if you've been having scalp cooling so that you can make your own versions don't use rosemary on its own. It needs to be in what we call a carrier oil or into another product, because and if you use it on its own, it could be an irritant. It is quite a strong product, but what i'll be doing as well is i'll, be showing you some videos where you can make your own products using rosemary oil, for example, one of the other qualities is it's a very strong and got anti-inflammatory qualities. So when you're trying to nourish scalp, that's maybe been a bit itchy or irritable because of the hair loss. What i'll do is i'll show you how to use some jojoba oil and to make some put some rosemary in there, so that you can make a lovely massaging, stimulating and scalp product. This is my little bun marie, which i'll keep bashing during this video and i'll. Be showing you how you can use um, coconut oil and rosemary to make your very own and scalp and hair nourishing treatments and the damage you'll see, is just used to um gently and melt down various oils so that we can make our own treatments. I hope that's been helpful and i look forward to seeing you on the next one.
