Hello and happy you can make it to euphobia for returning phobies, welcome back and to everyone else. Welcome to my virtual house of horrors, can you imagine coming home from school and finding your lifeless mom in the bathroom in a state so bad? It gives you night terrors for life. This is the tragic story of caitlyn and terry marsh, who were only 11 and 14 when their mom heather barnett was killed in the most brutal way, but for danilo restivo this wasn't the first murder. He had a gruesome history throughout europe and it would take 20 years for the police to put him behind bars, trigger warning, we'll be discussing the themes of death and war. So, if that's not something you can handle, you can get out now and check our other videos, but if you're ready for it, let's dive into the case of the real life sweeney todd the story of the haircut killer, a seemingly peaceful town. Today'S story begins in bournemouth, it's a small coastal town in the uk. It has a soccer team and a university that people are proud of and a beach which tends to attract the whole country in the summer. Bournemouth is a peaceful place and bad news is not something people are used to hearing, but in 2002 the whole city would be deeply shaken. On november 12, 2002, a terrified 14 year old made a call to the emergency services. His voice was trembling and he was trying to protect his eleven-year-old sister, who was right by his side. They had found their lifeless mother plated inside their bathroom, but the investigation would prove one of the most difficult and upsetting. In the uk, the police identified the victim as heather barnett. She was a 48 year old seamstress and a single mom to caitlin and terry. The last image her kids saw of her scarred them for life. It even shook the police officers who arrived at the scene, both of her breasts, have been cut off. She'S got some hair in her hand. There'S a glove down by her underwear, and so what's happened here is that this offender has completely humiliated his victim. Indeed, this was the work of an evil man with a serial killer, signature, someone who not only calculated his steps and heinous acts, but who has a personalized crime style, but danilo restivo would escape the police for many years still when the police first arrived at the Crime scene restivo and his girlfriend were comforting. Caitlyn and terry they'd been befriended by the two italians from across the road who ended up becoming extremely significant to the inquiry. It would take eight more years to put this horrifying man behind bars and what the uk police didn't know is that restivo had a gruesome history. This was not his first murder italy, danilo restiva was born in sicily on april 3rd 1972.. He grew up in potenza, southern italy, with his parents and older sister, and from a young age restivo showed very troubling behavior around girls. He would try to arrange dates with girls by claiming he had a present for them. If he got rejected, he would harass the girls by calling them and playing the soundtrack to deep red, a film about a serial killer who plays a song before every murder. When he was 21 restivo became obsessed with a girl, elisa claps. He never knew how to approach women or be gentle. His only way was stalking, but elisa, never suspected just how disturbed restiva was when he suggested they met on a sunday. She agreed on a particular sunday. She had arranged to meet up with him outside of the church in potenza. In order that she could say to him. Look i don't want a relationship with you. I don't want to go out with you and can you leave me alone? They went inside the church and only restivo came out. Lisa was never seen again, as you can imagine. Eliza'S family reported her missing straight away. Elise'S older brother gildo even phoned restivo's home, knowing she had been complaining about him, but his family told gildo that he was out of town for university essays and had no idea what happened to eliza gildo then went to the church and he found out that the Priest in charge, domenico sabia, had suddenly left taking with him the only key which had access to the upper story when the police would ask sabia to let them search the church. He didn't let them in, but the church wasn't the only one acting strange in this investigation. The police had several leads and it seemed like they were just letting them go. It gets even worse. After elisa disappeared, restiva was seen with an injured hand and he had a history of taking girls inside the church. So why didn't the police bat an eyelid at any of this rumors of this event quickly spread throughout potenza people thought that no one was taking this investigation seriously because of restivo's dad, who was a prominent figure and had connections to the police in italy. Certain positions within a town are considered high-powered and influential, and restivo's father was the chief librarian. Indeed, restivo's family declined the police request for the clothes he had worn on that sunday and the fiancee of restivo's sister giovanni had told the police that restivo's jacket looked dirty and soaked with blood. The police could have just gotten a search warrant for both restivo's house and the church, but somehow none of these happened, eliza was dead hidden in the church, attic and the police wouldn't find her body for another two decades, a not so fresh start in 2002. Restivo turned 30. potenza was no longer a friendly place to him. Although his family was protecting him, the locals knew he had something to do with elise's disappearance. Finally, restivo decided to move country and ended up in bournemouth uk before long restivo found a woman fiama on an online dating app and quickly moved in with her. But she was more like a mother than a girlfriend to him and she treats him as if he's a son. She looks after him. She cooks his meals, so he's he's stepping into his well-established role as this child in a different location, because restivo never knew how to have a relationship only how to be a son who needs protection from his family after he'd done something horrible and just like in The olden days restivo soon became obsessed with a woman. This time it was 48 year old, heather barnett, who lived just across the road on november 6, 2002, where stevo invited himself to her place, saying that he wanted her to help him make a pair of curtains as a christmas present for his partner, while heather thought That that was a fairly strange present to give to your girlfriend she never suspected restivo's true intentions. On november 12th, he visited her house again they'd gone through to the back of the property, which was her room for doing her sewing and seamstress type work and from there it appears that she tried to make an escape from the individual. Things were knocked over she'd move through into the lounge, where he'd obviously caught hold of her and he'd hit her several times with a hammer. Heather'S skull was heavily fractured, indicating that she was dead within minutes, but restivo was not done with her. He dragged her through the hallway and into the bathroom what he did to her in there shocked even the policemen and criminal psychologists who came to the scene. Heather was holding someone else's hair locks in her hands. He cut the brush off and placed them behind heather's head. He also mutilated the rest of the body quite badly. This maybe would show that his obsession was not simply the hair, but possibly the cutting of hair and cutting itself, but restiva was too psychopathic and too proud to stop there. He went as far as comforting heather's children who were in absolute shock and terror after discovering their mother. Then he spoke to the police appearing empathetic to the children. He wants to see the impact of his actions on the people around the victim and that is enhancing his enjoyment and enhancing his sense of of power. The police considered restivo a suspect from the get-go, but he had a strong alibi. Saying he'd been out all day until finding the distraught caitlyn and terry in the street. During his police interview, which fiama translated restivo showed the police, a fabricated bus ticket with a time stamp of 8 44 am supporting his story that he was on his way to a computer course that day. But as the police looked further into restivo's story and inside heather's home, it found mounting evidence that he was her killer. There was a lot of blood about, and the training shoes worn by the killer, left trails of blood splattered footprints around the house. The footprints suddenly stopped indicating that restivo stopped and changed shoes and clothes before leaving the house and no matter how hard the police would try to gather incriminating evidence, restivo kept eluding them. The only strange piece of evidence was a little green towel on a chair. The dna test got a mixed result and it was unclear who the towel belonged to once again. Restiva walked free. The surveillance restivo felt untouchable. He had already murdered two women and harassed many others, stalking women and cutting their hair when they weren't watching the police. Just couldn't get enough evidence to prosecute him and he knew this. We shortly came to the conclusion that daniella restivo was the person that killed heather barnett. All the police had to do was search more thoroughly through restivo's alibi. They went to the computer course center, where he said: he'd been at the time of the murder and they found an altered sign in time and about six months into the investigation. The police finally uncovered restivo's past in italy, but, as elisa was only considered a missing person there. A murder connection wasn't easy to make to start with. There wasn't even a body running a murder investigation. If you can't even prove somebody's dead, let alone how they died. Is clearly far more difficult grasping at straws, the police decided to put restivo under surveillance in march 2004.. By may, they made a break in the case. The police followed restivo to through a village near bournemouth, where he stalked women from a bush afraid that he was going to kill again. The police went to check in wearing two sets of clothing. He had one set of clothing and then he had another set on top and a nylon waterproof jacket so very similar to heather's murder. Where he's got he's took two sets of clothing with him and changed into one when the police checked his bag. They found gloves and a filleting knife enough evidence to arrest him. Restivo was at the police station once more, but again he had an explanation. He said he was wearing two sets of clothes because he was exercising and sweating helped him lose weight ever creepier. Rustivo still wasn't creepy enough for the crown prosecution he couldn't be arrested and restivo enjoyed this. The hair. The police then turned to the public in the uk as well as italy. They wanted to find connections to the alien hair that restivo had put into heather's hands. That'S when the calls started pouring in and then you suddenly get a call and they say hi, i'm such and such from potenza daniela receiver cut my hair once i was sat in a cinema and he was sat in the row behind and he took some of My head hair and cut it and took it away. Apparently, restivo was known throughout potenza and bournemouth for cutting women's hair according to restivo having women's hair made him feel like he could possess the victims. So the police now had restivo officially recognized as the haircutter, and they had someone else's hair at the scene of the crime. Still this wasn't enough to convict the crown to arrest him. He killed her in the most horrific manner mutilating her body. The police thus never gave up on proving restivo was the murderer. The connection in 2008 forensic science was finally advanced enough to separate the two dna profiles from the green towel. Indeed, the profiles were heathers and rusty those, but when restivo was brought in for questioning he said he left the towel at heather's house on november 6 2002, when he first visited her again, he was freed, but in march 2010 the final piece of evidence came to Light elise's body was discovered in the loft of the potenza church. The uk police immediately flew to potenza and worked together with italian investigators to connect the two murders, and lo and behold there were things like hair in elise's hand, the same as there were in heather's case, and it started to make a bit more sense. Restivo'S signature was apparent. Finally, in may 2011 restivo was charged with a murder of heather barnett. He had always thought he was cleverer than everybody else, but now that didn't matter he wasn't cleverer than everybody else. Restivo was given life in prison for the murder of heather barnett, but the prosecution could not charge him for elise's death too. The jury unanimously found restivo guilty of heather barnett's murder. Of course, they could not return a verdict in relation to elisa claps, because restivo is an italian subject and therefore could not be charged with her murder, but as satisfying as the police's victory might have been, the sadness over the women's death was overwhelming. Heather'S gruesome end affects her children to this day. Caitlyn recalls, i was in a state of complete and utter shock, and it took months before i accepted the truth. I used to have nightmares and flashbacks reminding me of the events of 12th november. I also don't like going into bathrooms. I used to think that someone might be waiting for me now. I just hold a fear of: what's behind the bathroom door? In 2018, the police started suspecting restivo for the murder of a korean student in bournemouth, john okay, shin known as oki oki, was found, stabbed to death in july 2002, and there was a clump of hair at the scene. However, someone else was convicted for her murder and the hair was attributed to a witness, but criminal psychologists believe someone with a signature as sick and premeditated as restivos would not have stopped at two murders. Luckily, where stevo will never leave prison if his sentence is ever reduced in the uk, he'll be immediately deported to italy, where he needs to serve a lifelong sentence for the death of eliza. Restivo will never be free again, but his victims, families are far from healed, and that is the truly upsetting case of danilo restivo. Thank you for tuning in for another episode of euphobia. Hey don't be shy. Give this video a like and subscribe. Also, i'm taking suggestions for future videos. So if you have any burning desires to see any particular cases covered, then please leave a comment below have a good night. Phobies stay safe and take care of each other. It'S scary out there

Kat Fig: Great video. My deepest condolences to the victims’ families. It’s disgusting how people with even slight connections/power can get away with so much. Society should never allow such things. I hope he’s suffering in prison.

Dani Fethez Methanalia: Glad for how you've gone back to making great and sincere videos and I'm even gladder for how fast the channel has been growing. At this growth rate, I anticipate that the channel will be at at least 200K by year's end. Keep doing your thing. I feel so happy being a part of this growth :)

Dani Fethez Methanalia: This ranks up there with one of the most bizarre fetishes I've ever heard, even for a serial killer. The case also shows the direct and brutal consequnces of classicism and corruption and of the idea that famiy always comes first. If Denilo had not been protected by his family, he would probably have been caught earlier, isolated, and perhaps even successfully rehabilitated. Because he was protected, it led to the loss of at least one more woman's life and the life-long traimatization of her children. So infuriating to know this.

NikkedTruth: Ugh, the biggest crime is the level of subscribers in this channel. There are dozens of substandard crime channels out there so I'm only happy with JCS, Deadbug, Dave's Lemonade, Dreading, Coffee House Crime, Disturban, Mr Ballen, Truly Criminal and TC. My standards are really high so I was blown up when this channel showed yesterday and I became SERIOUSLY addicted: Excellent Voice, and gestures throughout, impeccable editing, great stock footage, proper placing of images and video, incredibly poignant commentary, great use of music?! And unbelievable variety of lesser covered cases... Now, I don't know when you're going to blow up but you should get ready cause you will; I can easily place this channel on my top 5 already.

Jessica Lanceford: I have one for you. I just finished reading the schoolgirl strangler. It’s about Arnold Sodeman, who back in the 1930’s killed 4 young girls and got away with it for years. Not only did they arrest the wrong men (2) but he appeared as a witness in some of the cases. Was very interesting.

Han B: I love your channel- great narration and research. Can I make a small suggestion for your vision impaired subscribers? It’s great you’ve added subtitles, but the font and size makes them very hard to read. And if you put up closed captions, it’s written over yours, making it impossible to read. Anyway, apart from that- you can tell you put a LOT of work into your awesome channel ❤️

Dani Fethez Methanalia: As for case suggestions, consider doing the ongoing unsolved case of the more than 30 bodies that were recovered in a river in Kenya called River Yala between July 2021 and March 2022. The bodies were found in various stages of decomposition and some of them had indications that the victims had been tortued before being kileed. The whole thing was horrific and highly unusual. Many susect the police in these killings as most (but not all) of the victims had criminal records but it seems to me that it may be more compicated than this. I think this would make for an interesting case for your channel that has not been done by any other of the popular true crime channels on YouTube. Just my suggestion.

EyeC: Please do the case of Hisashi Ouchi, the man that was kept alive for 83 day after radiation. I want to hear your opinion about this case

Deeesells04 : Please cover the case of the dragging death of James byrd Jr. in my home town of Jasper Tx.

Ching P.D: The family of the first victim should sue the church who refused the police to search the place

unapologetic: Hey fellow Phobies!! Hope everyone is doing . Sending out love from Texas

Shannon Perkins: I'm sorry, I absolutely love your channel but your trigger warning made me laugh because you said u will be discussing themes of death and gore so if that effects you please log off and maybe another video would be better suited for you . Ok so if death and gore is a trigger why in the heck would the person be looking at true crime videos at all , all true crime is about death lol

sarah king: My headphones are on ready to do housework and listen to few of your story’s Iv missed love , love this channel

Anne Helene Groven: Just looking at this guy gave me the creeps. Great video

Dave Atkins: Your content is awesome. Keep up the good work hon.
