Hi everybody. How are you all doing? My name is griffin, and i am here to talk to you about your skin health and today it's going to be something a little bit different because, instead of the skin, on your face, i'm going to be talking about the skin on your scalp today, i'm going To be talking about hair care products, i clearly just got a haircut today and i mean i just got a haircut today like those opened up. I went to the salon for the first time in months it was crazy. I got my hair cut, it is very hot here and i'm so glad that i got like five pounds of hair off my head. It'S not that much. I just grow a lot of it and it's really really hot, and i thought it would be a perfect time to talk about something that i've been meaning to talk about for a while. But it's very hard because this is not my expertise. The same way as skincare is my expertise. I know a decent amount about hair care, but i think, even over all the amount of science known about hair is just a lot less accessible and a lot less available than the science about skin care. And, what's really good for you in all of those to put on your face, so the reason why i talk about the scalp is because my philosophy on hair care is scalp first and when i begin with this is like think about it. This way, your scalp is still your skin. This is skin, it has pores, it has hairs that come out, it produces oil and it's going to stay there forever and you're going to need to take care of it. Meanwhile, the hair that grows out is dead. Keratin that comes out of your head and just kind of sorta interacts with stuff. You kind of want to wash off some of the grease with it, but it isn't really going to have too much of an impact as much as keeping your scalp healthy will be, because if your scalp is healthy, the hair that comes out of it is going To be more healthy, if your scalp is irritated the hair that comes out of it isn't going to be as healthy as well, so it's kind of a double standard thing going on right there. Also, if you saw my video on dandruff, i do talk about how i have a very sensitive scalp. My scalp is something that gets irritated very very easily, unlike the skin, on my face, my scalp hates it. When i put things that are too heavy, too fragranced too harsh on it, it really needs to be pampered, and it's kind of what's been causing me most of my skin issues in general, and i know it is causing a lot of people skin issues as well. So i want to talk about some of the daily upkeep that i do and some of my favorite fragrance free, that's a bit of a tongue twister products that i use are both shampoo and conditioner. That i found - and i do want to break this up into a few different videos in series, because i go through shampoo and conditioner very slowly. So i don't have a lot of stuff to show you today. I have also used more than what i have to show you today. I don't have all of them here. I will probably mention them, but i have three different products that are all about the same price point. I kind of like to call this. My upper drugstore level tier where they're not cheap, they are about ten dollars to fifteen dollars for one of the bottle each for all of them, but they are not luxury level. I know there are people who spend 30 plus dollars on one bottle of shampoo, so this is on the it's not the most affordable, but it's something that you could go to a target and pick up so without further ado, let's kind of get into it. The first one is a brand that i actually already showed you these products before in a previous video and those are the kristen s, shampoo and conditioners from the fragrance free line that you can get only on target. And these are, i think, one of the first kind of mainstream launches of a specifically fragrance free line that i've seen out there from any product. And i think these have a really sleek packaging they're, very much in the very basic black and white packaging or black. And beige, i guess packaging um. They really let the product speak for itself, but it still looks very sleek something that you'd be very happy to keep in your shower to show off to people. I don't know why that's something that i think about, but for some reason i think about what people think about my shower products. I don't know i'm weird, but these are very much uh kind of what i'd say very what science says is going to work for a shampoo type of product. These are not focusing on the botanicals. These are not focusing on the plant extracts. These are focusing on what is going to clean your hair and what is going to condition your hair and some people are going to like that, and some people aren't going to like that, and it very much is going to be on a your own needs basis. Most of the ingredients in the shampoo are actually surfactants. It is known that when you combine multiple surfactants together, they actually tend to be a little bit more gentle. But this has a lot of surfactants, and some of the surfactants in here are not what some people would call curly girl friendly, which is. There are certain surfactants that are known to be harsher than others, and not good for people who have curlier and drier hair, and this contains some of them in there. So if that is something that is concerning for you, i would say to stay away from this. One, but do not worry, i have other options to talk about, but like even reading off some of the ingredients in here we have water first and then surfactant, then a surfactant, then glycerin, then a surfactant, then a surfactant, then an emulsifier, then a surfactant. Then a surfactant, like you see where this is going, it's a lot of surfactants. This is really here to make sure that you are cleaning off your hair and you could argue that it is a little bit stripping. I wouldn't say it's as stripping as a typical sls or sles shampoo or sodium lauryl, sulfate or sort of laureth sulfate, but this definitely is a much more of a powerhouse shampoo than some of the more gentle options that are now very popular on the market. For my own personal use, i consider myself to have a type 2a hair, so wavy, so not straight, but not curly kind of somewhere in between there and i enjoyed this. It was not my favorite shampoo i've ever used. I would agree that this probably was a little bit harsher than i typically like it to be, and it did leave my hair, maybe a little bit thirstier than i wanted it to be on average, but this was not offensively stripping. This is not something where i use it and i was like oh, i can never use that again. That was annoying like, as you can see, i've almost finished this entire bottle. I clearly liked it enough to continue using it the whole way around and we're getting a pretty sizable bottle. This is just under 300 milliliters and i spent about 12 on it from target, so it's not a bad deal at all. I think that, if you are somebody who wants to get into fragrance free hair care but wants something that is maybe a little bit stronger if you're somebody with oily or very straight hair, where you do actually want the surfactants in there to make sure that you Are fully cleaning your hair? This is a very good option for you regarding the conditioner. It'S very similar in that this isn't full of all the botanicals, it's full of a bunch of conditioning agents in it. Where again, we have water first, and then we have some fatty alcohols and we have avocado oils, the almond oil, some wheat, proteins and pea proteins that are there to actually kind of replicate. How a silicone might work in your hair without actually being a silicone. They'Re meant to help bond and help strengthen the hair follicle and like similarly to the shampoo i liked it. It wasn't my favorite conditioner i have ever used, but it worked and i did a good job. It helped hydrate my hair and it didn't like it did a decent job um. It did that thing with some conditioners that i don't like, where i needed a little bit more of it than i would think that i need, because it just keeps on getting drinking up by my hair. It doesn't give me that nice silky luxurious kind of smoothing conditioning that i like in my conditioners, but i did a pretty good job of keeping my hair very healthy and happy. This just does exactly what it needs to do, and, unlike this, this isn't something that's going like. This has an issue of pasta being harsh, there's, basically no risk going with this. There is no silicones in here if you're somebody who's against silicones in your conditioner. This is just something that is going to give you conditioning it's not trying to be anything extra. It'S not even trying to say anything more so like. Let me actually read the little stuff that they claim that these do on them and see if i agree so in the shampoo, it says lightly clarifying shine, enhancing high lathering non-stripping for all hair types. I would agree with this so lightly clarifying that actually does mean like hey. This is pretty deep cleansing. This is going to help get the gunk out of your scalp. Absolutely agree with that. Shine enhancing sure why not um high lathering, it did lather pretty well and non-stripping didn't strip a lot. It didn't strip a lot. I mean when you're, using a shampoo you're, always going to strip a little bit of stuff off. That'S just the nature of how it's going to work, so i'm not going to give any knocks for that and for the conditioner it says, moisture, rebalancing, yeah, sure, softening and smoothing it did smooth in shine. Enhancing, i'm not good at noticing the shine of my hair, but i would say it did enhance the shine of my hair, lightweight and nourishing for all hair types. Yes, i would say it definitely is lightweight. It is nourishing it's not something. That'S going to weigh down your hair and make it heavy. I think it's just a very good general purpose. You could hand it to anybody and they'd find good use of this conditioner next up is a brand that i actually found on amazon a while ago. I used this the first out of all the ones that i've used in here. It'S not the first fragrance tree shampoo and conditioner i've ever used, but this is an interesting one. I found this is a canadian brand called philip adam. He is a hair stylist over in british columbia, canada, i believe, where um, he has his whole line of hair products and includes an unscented line, and he is known for using apple cider, vinegar as one of the main ingredients in shampoo - and i was very intrigued By this, because apple cider vinegar implies that this is going to be an acidic shampoo, and i want to see that it's the same idea as a low ph cleanser. That means your cleanser is slightly acidic, so i also want the same thing for my hair care. I want my hair care to be slightly acidic as well and alongside the apple cider vinegar in here. We do have some great ingredients, like some lactic acid in here, to add to that. But we do have more botanicals in here, so we're getting much fewer surfactants in here. Just only only a couple like i see two or three in here, but then at the very end of it we see some extracts. We see some chamomile. We see that pea protein again, we see lemon balm, extract, nettle, extract rosemary extract. This is trying to rely a little bit more on those plant extract, botanical kind of what is going to heal your hair from that perspective, instead of just going for the it cleans. Your hair type of idea - i think this is a very, very solid shampoo. I think it cleans my hair very well. I think it doesn't start my hair at all. It comes in a very respectable size. This is 12 fluid ounces at 355 milliliters and is about the same price at about 12 bucks, and it did a really really good job. I really enjoyed this. The one grape i have with this is that nowhere on here do i see anything that resembles a preservative, and i know it's really important for a lot of people not to have any preservatives even on here. It says no harsh preservatives. I don't know what the preservative is, i'm not sure if the canadian laws on getting these labels printed allowed them to kind of exclude putting that preservative system in there or, if they're, using any of these, like the apple cider vinegar as preservative. Maybe i'm not a trained cosmetic credits to be able to know if that's going to be effective or not so my concern is how well is this going to keep? It is a wash off treatment, so i'm not super worried about it expiring, but this does absolutely have the potential to expire and you need to kind of be wary of that. Similarly, the conditioner is also based with the apple cider vinegar and we are getting those p proteins, the lactic acid as well we're getting some emulsifiers and we're having the lemon balm, the rosemary, the chamomile, and it's it's very similar. It'S basically like the same core formula as the shampoo, but using a conditioner base instead of a shampoo base, which i think makes sense. I think that is how a lot of hair care lines go. If it ain't broke, don't like don't fix it, don't mess with it. If it works for your shampooing, it's probably gon na work for the conditioner, not irritate too much. I found that this was also a really solid conditioner. I did not like the pump where it is this weird pump that has like a hole that keeps on getting clogged. I love pump conditioners, don't get me wrong, i would prefer if both of these actually came in a pump. I know this sounds a little bit. Hypocritical, when i did have a video recently saying like make sure you do the packaging for the product and the shampoo is going to be more liquidy and runny than a conditioner. But it is also important to make sure the pump you're using is a quality pump, and i don't think this is a super quality pump. I think this could be a better pump that doesn't get clogged as much and can get to the bottom a little bit easier. That'S always the gripe with conditioners you're going to have product left in the container. I think overall, it did a really really good job. I really enjoyed using it and the only gripe. Besides, that is again what's the preservative. What'S keeping this stable, what's preventing things from getting in it, there might be stuff in there. I don't really know, but it's really good at like keeping the ph balance of your hair, nice and healthy in your scalp as well. And you have that minor exfoliation going on, which is just such a good thing to have in your hair care, because you're not doing the full routine to your scalp you're, not doing that full thing. So that really drew me to this brand and i am really interested in them even further, and finally, we have the brand that is in my shower right now, that is the acure and they're also doing an apple, cider, vinegar line right now. This is their build-up. Balancing hemp and acv line these are both fragrance free, even though on the conditioner um, the old label actually does say it has orange oil in it orange essential oil. I did email them and i did say hey is this? Actually, americans free - and they said that's actually misprint. There never was ever any orange oil in there and we're working on getting that removed. I trust them because otherwise that's just a lawsuit waiting to happen. So i believe that these are both fragrance free products and, let's start as i did with the other two with shampoo. This is meant to be a hair reset for styled swim in harsh conditions. This is fragrance free hemp, seed oil and acv 100 vegan, zero percent, pretentious paraben-free, free mineral oil, free petroleum, free formaldehyde, free cruelty, free. This comes in an eight ounce container, so this is the smallest of all of them. This is only 236 milliliters, and i think this is probably my favorite shampoo out of the three that i've used where it definitely does a good job of cleaning, but also does not feel like. I am stripping it too much at all. It does give you a good lather. I don't need a huge leather in my shampoos, but it also was the most all right. It'S leaving my hair feeling very healthy and happy and not have too much kind of stuff going on with it. This is curly girl, friendly um in regards to the surfactants that they use, and this is also very much uh, using a lot of natural botanicals type of thing going on where we have surfactants as the first two ingredients. But then it starts going directly into hemp. Seed oil, vinegar, aloe, acai, blackberry, rosehip calendula, like a lot of these botanicals in here, trying to kind of be that fancy all-natural type of thing going on, but that that sounds great to me as long as they're not going to be fragrant irritating compounds for me. They might be irritating for you, so if you have any allergies, i would double check the ingredients list. All the ingredients lists are going to be down in the description below, but i think this does a very solid job and i enjoy how it works. I just wish it came in a larger size. I do love how the packaging comes in the inverted tube so that it is already at the bottom of the container. It is ready to come out directly into your hand. It'S just the ingenious things that you see in packaging that you're like yeah. Whenever i would get low in a shampoo, i would turn it upside down on this cap anyway. They said why don't we just make it on the cap to start? Why don't we make this? How it looks whatever like we have the millennial pink, we have some cool fonts. It looks really trendy something i'd. Also love to see like i enjoyed the packaging of all three of these products. I would not be ashamed to see any of them in my bathroom with the conditioner, i'm a little bit less thrilled with the conditioner. I think the conditioner is just not really rich enough for me. I, like a really rich conditioner, i like being able to smooth it on kind of like a hair mask and just feeling like my hair, is immediately drinking it all up and getting silky this one. My hair definitely felt like it was drinking it all up, but it also said yeah you could give me more, you can give me more and it kept on feeling like i could give it more, which isn't how i love to do my conditioners, but, like my Hair is still feeling very healthy. It'S feeling very soft, it's doing its job. It'S just not giving me that immediate feedback that i love to see in a shower. So maybe that says something more about me, but in terms of the ingredients, it's the same thing. We have all these plant extracts as like the main kind of things that make up this line, but we have the fatty alcohols and the glycerin and the conditioning agents at the very beginning. So it's the same thing where you have a line. You use the same things that make that line special and then use the base of your conditioner. For that i would have loved for this to be more of a win for me. I don't think this was a loss, but i just i just want a little bit more for my conditioner. I want it to be a little bit more like soaking everything up and really happy and yummy, and all that those are the three different ones that i had to talk about today. I think they are all great and have different purposes for different people, depending on what you are looking for and what you like. I have, as i said, tried a few others, but i chose these three in particular because they're accessible, they come in good amounts of sizes and, unlike a lot of other fragrance free stuff out there, they are cruelty free and while that isn't a deal breaker for Me, i think, i'm at the point now with my hair care that it is a deal breaker for my hair care, because there are already so few options in the fragrance free hair care option. Why waste my time with something from like free and clear vana cream that isn't cruelty, free and it's just not very pretty and not doing too good? I still have their denture shampoo, that's a different subject when i could get something that is the same price. Does a very similar job and doesn't have that extra baggage to tied to it like it. It feels like a no-brainer to me and i want people to be doing better on that. I'Ve also tried other brands like earth science, but um like it's hard to kind of bring all them into the conversation where their uh ceramide shampoo, i thought actually was really solid, but their ceramide conditioner does have silicones and while silicones aren't a deal breaker for everybody, My hairdresser personally tells me not to use silicones in my hair, and this is something that you should absolutely do. You should go to your hairdresser and ask them. Should i be using silicones on my conditioners? Should i be using sulfates in my shampoos and they will be able to tell from your hair type and your hair needs whether those are ingredients to avoid or not. It is very much a personal preference in a personal. Your mileage will vary type of thing going on so because mine says avoid them. I listen to my hairdresser and i avoid them, and i tend to kind of be that person who does like to use the shampoo and the conditioner from the same line. I don't know why, because like in skin care, i make fun of people who only use stuff from the same language and like you're, getting the same stuff you're, not introducing anything new, but in hair care. I just love matching them together. Maybe that's like my need to become like a little hotel, but i'm crazy. We all knew that and that's it for the video. I hope we all learned something new again. I do want to make another video using some more luxury pricing, fragrance free hair options. I know that there are companies out there like function of beauty and like pros who do sponsorships. I would love to do a sponsorship with you kind of reviewing your fragrance free options regarding all that, but um i have some. I have some ideas out there and i would love to kind of find the perfect hair solution out there. I also plan on doing a video out there for body wash, but i go through body wash even slower than i go through hair products, because i got a lot of body and not a lot of hair, not a lot of face. So those do also tend to go a little bit slower, but do expect a video about those coming up eventually, but until then i will see you all in the next video. I hope you enjoyed this. Why don't you go? Leave me a like subscribe bell, comment: instagram whatever and i'll catch you in the next video bye. You

jcjccmz: Have you tried the Philip Kingsley No Scent No Colour Shampoo? I would love to hear anyone's thoughts on it. As far as the Free & Clear shampoo, I found it to be the most horrible, stripping shampoo ever; I have oily but color-treated hair and the shampoo turned my hair into wet straw. I didn't understand what was happening so I kept using for another week or 2, and I think it ruined my hair so that not even Olaplex or deep condidtoning masks could fix the damage. Also, I tried a anti-aging, restorative fragrance-free version of Function of Beauty shampoo and conditioner and found it to be stripping/drying of my hair too. AND I ended up with a terrible red rash around my neck/chest/arms from lathering and rinsing with the FoB products. When I emailed pics and asked how I should try to change the formula, they told me to just stop using their products and refunded my money.

Melissa Santana: Hi Griffin! Thank you for this video. It’s very helpful for someone like me who has a fragrance allergy. When I found out about it two years ago, there were barely any videos on fragrance-free products. Free and clear was the first line I tried and it made my hair feel like straw to say the least. I’m currently trying Seen’s Fragrance-free hair line and I love their four products, except for the conditioner because it does not provide enough hydration or slip for my 2c-3b hair. Given your video, this seems to be a trend in fragrance-free conditioners. However, the Seen Shampoo and the Curl Cream are both pretty solid! I’m currently on the hunt for a fragrance-free deep conditioner/mask. It’s been the hardest thing to find.

Rachel Dee: Target Deals Days are over now, but wanted to mention for anyone who references this video in the future. Kristin Ess hair products do go on sale a couple times a year for around 20% off.

chonk: Hey Griffin this video answered all the product questions that your dandruff video left me asking! :) Side note: I tried function of beauty and it did NOT work for my hair. The shampoo was okay, but thin/watery. the conditioner didn't coat my hair at all. I had to work with it for awhile, but that made a bunch of hair get caught in my hands and fall out. Big let down.

Muskaan Mittal: I needed this video. A lot of baby shampoos and conditioners are fragrance free and gentle which is what I use. They are also considerably cheaper. Check out aveeno, dove and childs farm etc

Casey Conner: I love the shea moisture kids shampoo.

Dorothy Lisbon: Maybe you should check out fast hair growth fortified shampoo to double hair growth.

Helen Hart: This is a very helpful video.

Coffee Lover: The Phillip B shampoo dried out my hair.

jcjccmz: Hey Griffin, I have tried a variety of shampoos for color-treated hair, and I'm sure you probably know chemically treated hair needs very gentle care. It seems you might be implying in this video that certain ingredients should always be avoided, and I hope you don't mind a gentle reminder that it is the overall formulation and how the ingredients work together that matters in a product's effectiveness, versus individual ingredients and even where those ingredients appear on the deck. This is true with all products, whether shampoo, skincare/sunscreen or cosmetics. Matrix, L'Oreal and a few others do have shampoos for color-treated hair that contains sodium laureth sulfate and they are far gentler than numerous shampoos I have tried that contains the coco/coca/cocoyl-whatever surfactants instead. Overall, I found that you seem to be applying a set of trendy but misguided criteria in evaluating self-care products: "cruelty-free," silicone-free, paraben-free, etc. are all marketing buzzwords aimed at misleading less informed consumers w/r/t their shopping decisions. Everything has been tested on animals, and there is nothing wrong with silicones or parabens.

Fire AA: Are u still using it ??? Plz answer
