Easy Curly Girl Method For Beginners

This video, Easy Curly Girl Method for Beginners, is a revamp of one of my first videos. The info is the same, but the video is better quality & much much shorter.

In this video I am only going to tell you the things you NEED to know. My advice is to start here and then learn and build on your routine from there. That’s what I did ❤️

SILICONES TO AVOID, investigate anything that ends in xane, cone, conol and col. There are a few fragrances that are ok that end in one (so confusing)Here are some common silicones:

- dimethicone

- amodimethicone

- cyclopentasiloxane

- cyclomethicone

-dimethiconol

If you have naturally curly hair, that is so dried and damaged that it just doesn't curl anymore or parts of it, curl and parts of it won't curl or if you have healthy, curly hair that just won't curl and you don't know how to style it. Please watch this video, so I can show you how to fix your hair. Just like I do hi guys curly susie here from Cape Breton Nova Scotia in today's video, I'm going to talk to some of the newbies about how you can start the curly girl method. Now my video is different from a lot of the videos out there, mainly because I try not to get hung up on all of the minor details. I'M going to teach you everything I did in the first year and how I did it in a very inexpensive way. So, as far as my credibility goes, I am NOT a professional stylist. I am just somebody who had hair that I flat ironed every day. I chemical damaged it, I heat damaged it. I basically destroyed my hair and then through following this method, I got my natural curly, healthy hair. Back. One thing I will say is that I really wish that I would have started making videos when my hair was still damaged, because some of you are probably looking at my hair and thinking like. Oh, she is healthy, curly hair anyway. So what am I going to learn from her, but I do have to say, and you can look at my my hair transition video. My hair was awful and I will say that, even in the four months that I've been making videos, my hair has changed drastically. So I'm going to post a clip here from one of my early videos. You can see that even over the last couple of months my hair continues to get better and better and my hair is bleached blonde underneath so anyway, let's get right to it. So, like I mentioned before in today's video, I'm only gon na tell you the things you need to do, there's a lot of like different techniques and different products. You can use different things. You can try different ingredients to avoid, but right now I'm only going to tell you what you need to know so that you can start and you're not overwhelmed. So the first thing you're gon na do is you are going to completely eliminate heat, so you are going to stop using hot hot water in the shower you're gon na stop flat ironing your hair right now, you're going to stop diffusing your hair on a hot Setting or blow-dry on your hair on a hot setting - and you are gon na - stop curling your hair with a curling iron. So no heat, that's very important. The second thing you're going to do, I'm not going to tell you to go out there and buy specific products. I'M gon na tell you that you need to start by not using sulfate in your shampoo and not using alcohol in your shampoo you're gon na avoid silicone and you're going to avoid basically any ingredients that build up on the hair. Now, once you get into the curly girl method, you can really dive into that ingredients list and go as natural as you want, but I am telling you everything that I did to fix my hair and in the beginning I wasn't that specific about products. I just got rid of silicone and I got rid of sulfate. So what you have to do again, is you don't want to use any shampoos with sulfates in them? Sulfate is that Hart's detergent harsh detergent, I'm getting excited now, so I'm like slurring words. It'S that harsh detergent that strips dirt and products out of your hair, but it also takes the natural oil out of your hair. So you want to get rid of that and then because you're not going to be using sulfate in your shampoo you'll need to start using products that don't have silicones or other ingredients in them that aren't water-soluble, because what you're gon na do is you're gon na Start washing your hair, either with conditioner or with like a very, very mild, shampoo or just water, and so you can't have ingredients that are gon na build up on the hair, so no alcohol, no sulfate and no silicone okay. So then, what are you gon na? Do you are going to style your hair in ways that are protective to the hair, so you're not gon na pull your back hair back in like tight, tight, ponytails or tight, tight braids, or anything like that? You are gon na find styles for your hair. That are going to help to encourage your hair to curl and there are lots of videos on this on YouTube and again I'm trying to keep this video super short and to the point. So I'm not gon na go over those styles, but you can definitely find them easy on the internet. The fourth thing you need to do is to be motivated, and why do I say this? I say this because, if you're used to flat ironing your hair every single day, you probably did that for a reason, so either you think that straight hair is more beautiful than curly hair or you just got into the habit of doing it. So much that when you tried to wear your hair curly, it just looked frizzy and didn't look good, so you just keep going back to flat ironing your hair. I will tell you that when you first start the curly girl method, if your hair is super damaged, you're gon na go through a phase where your hair doesn't look great. We call that the transition phase, unless you do a big chop, which I wasn't willing to do - you're gon na - have an awkward stage, and so I do have a video about how I got through that transition phase. I'M gon na post it up here, but basically one of the more important things that I did was that when I had some free time I would watch videos from other curly hair youtubers about the curly girl method. And I would also like look up pictures on the internet of like beautiful curly, hair or like celebrities with curly hair or I joined a group on Facebook called the curly girl method. Support group and people show their before-and-after pictures and it really helped me stay motivated to fix my hair. So anyway, with those four things being said again, there is so much more to this method like deep conditioning and using hair creams and using other types of products. But today again, like I said I'll only tell you what you need to do so. The other thing that you need is you need a styling product. All I tend to stick with gel and again it's not like dippity-do gel, it's alcohol, free, silicone, free gel or you can use a styling cream or both. But basically you are going to apply this product to your soaking-wet hair in the shower, no more applying your products to your dry hair or to your towel. Dried hair, you're gon na apply it in the shower kind of the fifth thing that I am gon na. Mention that when I first started the curly girl method, I didn't really think was a big deal and then, since I switched over, I will never go back. Is that I don't use a towel to dry my hair anymore? I couldn't believe how much frizz this created, and so I use a t-shirt to dry my hair, that is it for this video. I want to keep it as simple as possible. I think I'm probably gon na get a few negative comments about this video, because people are gon na, say that there's so much more to the curly girl method, they're gon na say what about your hair, porosities and your hair type? And what about mineral oil and all these different things and products that you should avoid, but I do know that there's people out there that get overwhelmed very easily by all of that information, and I didn't know any of that information. When I first started - and I had really really good results, if you look at my old hair routine videos that I posted like six months ago, that is the same hair routine, I still use today. Yes, I learned a little bit more and I change my products. A tiny bit, but basically I have not strained for our strayed from the method and my hair has changed drastically and I absolutely love my hair. Not only do I love my hair, but for the first time in my entire life I have super-easy wash and go hair. I hope you like this video. I hope it was helpful. Give it a thumbs up if you liked it, you can give it a big thumbs down if you didn't like it, subscribe to my channel for more videos about the curly girl method and I'll see you in my next video bye,

i: 2:16 Stop using heat 2:38 no sulphate, silicone, alcohol in hair products 4:07 Start wearing protective hair styles 4:38 Be motivated

slightlyinsaneskull: Thank you for this video. As a mom of a very curly haired little girl, I get overwhelmed by it all. (I have super straight hair) I need to educate myself to keep her hair healthy.

Zosia Schreier: Her: don't use heat Me: Ha I don't. That's easy Her: No hot water either Me : Well that might be an issue

nunya business: What about if you have hair that can't make it's mind up and is having a massive identity crisis about whether it's straight or curly, but it's actually just in the middle. Is it possible for my hair to be bi-hairsual?

Anna Emerson: I’m about 2 and half weeks into trying to fix my hair. I love short and to the point videos like this! I honestly had no idea my hair was even curly! I thought it was just frizzy thin and wavy. But I have actual curls and I love them! And love your videos too ❤️

Natalia: Love this. The full method can feel so overwhelming for someone just getting started. I began with these basic steps and started seeing changes right away. Then began trying and incorporating more elements from the method over time. Vids like these are really helpful so curlies know there is a way to begin without a massive lifestyle overhaul.

sorsaria: The hardest part will be no hot water. I live for a scalding shower

Steven Does Stuff: I'm a dude with curly hair that frizzes like I've been electrocuted the next day after washing my hair. I hope this works. EDIT: it's been 3 weeks and my curls look amazing, lots of nice words from strangers noticing them :)

Mal P.: I have wavy, frizzy red hair and I grew up never learning how to care for it. I'm 32 now and only just starting to learn about all of this, and there is so, so much information to take in and fact check and personalize. So having a short and to-the-point video like this is a true gift. Thank you for helping to break down this info and giving people like me a starting point.

DCARA06: Yes!!! It can be so overwhelming to go to natural curly hair and becoming an expert right out off the start isn’t realistic. I had a friend who kept suggesting I stop fighting my curls and instead embrace them, since I’ve done that these things you outlined have simplified my hairstyling AND it’s way easier to maintain than trying to force my hair to be something it’s not!

Yahneissi Gonzalez: Started the CG method/transition last December.. so far, I’m seeing dramatic results. But one thing that is KEY to this transition is deep conditioning at least once a week. Great video!

Katlaind: This was so helpful! The curly girl method is really overwhelming! I’ve been trying to figure it out and slowly transition for a couple months now! Keep making videos! I’d love to see your opinions on products and stuff like that! You’ve got a new sub ❤️

stephanie santos: the only thing i'll say is that braids are actually really good for damaged hair. keeping your hair bundled (just not pulling on your scalp at all) keeps the individual hairs from being exposed to the elements. It's actually how i coped through my transitioning phase and it kept my damaged hair from getting worse haha i grew my hair past my collar bones when it had been stuck there forever

SubtleMurder: Thank you for breaking it down for those of us who are confused and overwhelmed by how much information is out there. The basic gist is that we avoid sulphates, silicones, alcohol, using heat, drying with a towel, and hairstyles that don't support our curls. I can get on board with this! :D I'm excited to try out the products I've purchased to see which ones work best with my hair, but this basic outline has been so helpful.

Anna Havard: I am addicted to your channel. I'm 29 years old and had been straightening my hair since I was 15. This week I started doing the curly girl method (as a new mom of twins I don't have time to flat iron it every day anymore) after watching your videos, and I got lots of compliments at work. I was so self conscious at first but I'm really starting to love it. Thank you and please don't stop posting videos. My hair is very similar to yours so your advice is VERY helpful!! Hugs from Texas. :)

Jennie: I’m 6 months in CGM and having been following you. I hafta say, you’re one of my favorites! I, just today, tried NYMN dark blue and only used gel. One of my best hair days yet! So light and bouncy . I think I’m sticking with this routine... like they say... less is more! ❤️ Thank you!

Karen Steer: Hi Suzy, I’ve been following the curly girl method since March. Stumbled on it by accident as it was born out of me starting hot pod yoga, thinking I couldn’t keep up with the whole routine of straightening every day and knowing my hair was naturally curly I started in the journey! The problem I have is still this frizz halo, I hear contradicting advice from many curly gurus saying not to apply conditioner/product to roots as if will weigh it down (which it does!) but I feel at the same time I do need to apply to this area as this is prone to a lot of frizz .. attached picture is 2nd day refresh , if you zoom in you can see the god awful frizz!! Not sure actually if I can attach picture, anyway thanks in advance for reading xx

Ann555: I never thought there was anything to my loose waves. Seemsed to me like I just occasionally had a good hair day with a bunch of curls.. So now I'm curious and I just started the CG method. Really excited to see where it'll take me. Thank you for this simple and to the point video! I feel really overwhelmed - this has helped.

Tereza Rašovská: I started to wear my hair naturally curly like 2 years ago... The best decision ever. I used to straightened them for 7 years every day, 200 °C. The transition was of course demotivating and awkward, but worth it. And every day Iam still learning to be better on how to take care for my curls. Of course it's annoying, but unfortunately we were not born with straight hair to just wake up and you are ready to shine but natural hair is the best!!!! Good luck girls :)

Kaz K: Just met my daughter who has started this method for her curly hair... and she looks amazing! So I’m going to start this method with my dry, unruly hair from today!

SophiaNow: Simple is really important, Thank you for this video! I am in the first week of transitioning my long thick hair to its natural curl. I had no idea how much curl there would be... so much already, which explains the tons of frizz I struggled with for decades, and all through the straight hair fad. I've read through a fair bit of the extra information and yes, maybe it helps to know my hair is super porous, but for right now I was looking for reassurance about what I'm doing because today, the results are a bit scary, and I'm not to brush this and tame it??? The earlier video you shared a link to added to the reassurance I needed to find, to continue with this.

Renee Henderson: I’ve started the curly girl method in the past few weeks and overwhelmed is an understatement! This video was SO perfect for what I needed right now.

maura sullivan: Thank you SO much for this short, to the point video for beginners like me. Honestly, my head was spinning from products, techniques, etc as I make the transition from my blown dry hair to my curls. And thank you for the time and effort you put into your channel!

Monica Navarro: I just had a haircut where I chopped off multiple inches of dyed hair that was super dry. Once it came off, my natural curl came back that I didn’t realize I had until I looked back at pictures of when I was just a tiny tot! I am still learning how to care for my “new” hair, so thank you for this video!

Gail: Hi Susie! I am one week into the CGM and have been binge-watching YouTube to get tips. You are my favorite, because my hair is very similar to yours and because I really appreciate how simple you keep things. It can get overwhelming - so many different products and techniques! I also have to admit, I love your accent :-) Thanks for all the help and inspiration!

Tanya K: Hey Susie, I really want to thank you as this video changed my life completely ,I have been straighting my hair from last 6 years but now I love my curls because now I know how to maintain them and control frizz. Love you ,keep posting videos as it helps tons of people like me.Thank you: )

Ra: So very true. Other videos are too detgailed that I always got overwhelmed and never started to treat my curly hair... Thanks for keeping it short and basic. Change starts from easy basic steps <3

Jennifer C: Hi Susie, I want to thank you, as a newbie to the curly girl method for your delightful, down to earth, informative videos. My curly girl journey started 3 weeks ago, while on vacation , and I couldn’t stand my hair anymore! I booked an appointment with a random salon, and lo and behold, 1900 kilometres from home, I finally found a stylist who knew how to cut my fine, curly hair, and also give me a style! She took the time to give tips on how to care for my new gorgeous look, and I have to say it was a life changing experience. 3 weeks later, I can’t stop looking at myself in the mirror! Anyways-, my point is , all the products and techniques won’t give awesome results , until you find the cut that knocks your socks off!! I will actually be “interviewing” stylists now, to try to find one at home who can cut my hair with my curl, and being prepared to spend more money than I have in the past. Your videos have given me great info on products and techniques, which I’ve found invaluable ( and fun). Greetings from Ontario!

Heather Nicholson: Love your videos! Simple and truthful ❤️

Anna Hoang: Thank you sm for keeping this simple and easy. I've had curly hair for only a few years and I don't know what to do with it but there is so much to know that I don't know. So thank you for realizing that and keeping it not complicated this helped me ❤❤

White Flame: Beautiful hair! Thank you for the tips! ❤️

Taurus And Libra: I lived my entire life thinking I had straight hair that would just occasionally get really poofy/frizzy. I even used shampoo and conditioner every single day. I had always struggled with keeping my hair maintained and finding products that didn’t make my hair too dry or too oily. I only recently discovered that my hair is actually very wavy with some curls (they’re so damaged from years of neglect!!) in my under layers after trying a new hair care regime with hair friendly products. I used to need heat and chemicals to get curls and now I just need to wet my hair; it’s crazy how someone can go their whole life without truly understanding something about themselves as obvious as their hair type. Shout out to all the folks who didn’t realize their true hair type until a lot later in life!!

Zainab Habib: Thank you! I started with deva curl but it felt hard to justify $30 bottles with little results for my 2C hair. These tips are a lot simpler and easy to follow!

Marta Costa: Simple and to the point. Loved it!

Zombunny: Susie, I've watched plenty of curly girl method videos but yours has so far been the best. I'm one week into the curly girl life, and this is the first time in YEARS that I've worn my hair down for several days in a row. I kid you not, I used to wear my hair in a ponytail every day cause I hated my hair. I'm talking at least 5 years. I actually love my hair since I started this method. You have changed my life, and I wanted to say thank you.

Krista Houston: Thank you for this! As someone who's disabled (bottom to top back issues) having my arms up & hands actively moving creates days of pain for me. Your approach of the least amount of products translates to less work for me!!! I can't wait to have my curls back that I've neglected for a few years❤️

Adri Void: Im thankful for this simple video- my hair is naturally curly but for a while its been a struggle to get more then limp waves at the top and front (even though the underlayer of my hair curls fine!). Learning how damaging my current shampoo and conditioner is really is opening my eyes to how I can fix this.

Marzipan Lady: Oh my goodness. I have wavy-ish hair that I used to straighten and bleach for years and years until mid-2015. I have started following the Curly Gril Method about 2 months ago (no silicones or sulphates, a cotton t-shirt instead of a towel, no heat, brushing the hair only with my fingers or a wide-tooth comb and never once it dried) and I can already see that my hair is looking much better and curling a bit more. So far I've applied my styling product (home-made flax seed gel that I swear by!) to towel dried hair, with mixed results. Today I applied it on soaking wet hair while still in the shower and then plopped my hair as usual. I was blown away. HOLY CURLS! ZERO FRIZZ that I've been struggling with my whole life (before I realized that my frizzy hair is in fact wavy)! Thank you SO SO much for this video!

Aditi Mukhopadhyay: I survived transitioning phase with overnight oiling and CG friendly products. Youtubers overwhelm the CG method... But its really simple just like Susie mentioned.

Arlene Jay: Brilliant video! To the point and so helpful! Your hair looks amazing! I am two months into my transition to natural curly hair and the most important point for me to remember these days...is to have patience

Curly Mel Lo: Thank you for this! Just started transitioning a few weeks ago and this is very encouraging!

Jessica Pendergrass: I'm so excited to start the curly girl method. Thanks for this video. It was very simple and to the point, which I loved.

Janani Satkurunathan: Thank you for taking The time to make a concise video that doesn’t bog you down with too many details. Love your curls.

Laura Pearson: Love this video, perfect for beginners! I am just getting started. It’s so frustrating because sometimes my curly hair looks good and sometimes it ends up looking like a bad perm. I’m ready to finally put some effort in. I have been a serial hot blow dry and flat iron queen so I might need to be patient.

R: The hardest bit for me is not using heatI’ve been straightening my hair everyday for the last 4 years

Tracy Schoenhard: Thank you for this video: the encouragement, motivation and assurance that my hair will turn out pretty. I was getting overwhelmed with my CG research with so much to remember!

Sarah Fuller: i'm stumbling on this video very late but thank you so so much for making it so simple. a lot of the videos or articles i've seen so far have been intimidating and made me feel hopeless or like i'd have to spend way too much money for this to work. but after seeing this, i'm feeling much more confident that i can get my hair back to being beautiful and curly again. thank you!!!

Marlisse Torres: Since I started to use conditioner to create curls, I'm really happy with how it looks. There are certain conditioners that would do better than others. I use the Garnier Whole Blends conditioner in Honey Treasures because it is not watery and it will maintain my curls all day long.

Perfectly Imperfect: Thank you so much for getting straight to the point. Some of this can be overwhelming when you're starting (or re-starting after giving up, like me). I also have to say I love your honesty and how you said give this a thumbs down if you don't like it; it's so refreshing to see a woman who only wants to help, yet understands (and isn't sensitive) to some not agreeing. I'm a new sub btw

Geneva Conrad: This method just helped me so much. It’s so simple and it made so much sense!!!

52hello25: Thank you for making this video! I'm definitely one of those people who get overwhelmed by how much information is out there concerning the CGM. I did a big chop back in April and switched to sulfate & paraben free shampoo in July (and also got a microfiber towel, which eliminated so much frizz). My hair improved a lot, but it was still a bit dry and the curls fell apart within two days of washing. I kept wondering what I was doing wrong, and your video explained it! I had no idea that I had to avoid silicone as well! I just checked my products, and they all have dimethicone :( Looks like I need to go shopping! Also, I love your accent! Super cute!

Suzanne Hermann: I can’t wait to finally embrace my curls and start this tonight!!!! Thanks for the starter tips - I’m subscribed!

Heatherlynn: I tried this method today for the first time ever. I was too intimidated before, but you did make it sound easy. My hair is frizzy and dry and my curls lost shape from pulling it back into a tight ponytail daily. I used a clarifying shampoo first because I've been using silicones, and I used the plop method out of the shower. It's not perfect yet, but lots better and I actually saw my curls today ty for this

Guadalupe Lopez: Thanks for making this! I just started my journey and I was feeling extremely confused on what were the essentials to this method. I’m excited to start. Thank you!

christina vecchio: I am SO GLAD I found your video!! I just started CGM and was feeling SUPER overwhelmed. This really makes the beginning process a lot easier. PHEW!! :)

conner lee carey: this is a perfect intro; curly girl can be so overwhelming and i've been working on it for a year. This still helped remind me what to focus on.

Venus T.: Thanks for the quick and on-the-point video about this. For me, the hardest thing out of all is not using a hot blow dryer setting. It's always chilly at home and I get cold because of the wet hair :P

Bri Marie: Thank you for this video, I have straightened my hair for ever, because of my frizzy hair, and I couldn’t bring myself to get past that awkward transition stage. And I keep going back to straightening. But seeing how beautiful your hair looks, I have inspiration. Now I’m going to binge watch the rest of your videos hah, thankyou!

Sierra Rosiana: Hi susie ! Thanks for the simple to the point video, most people overwhelm with information and I end of following none of it. The biggest problem I have is that even when my hair is healthy and hydrated (fresh hair cut and just conditioned) and im using gel, it still dries "fluffy" and doesnt clump very well instead of being shiny and nicely curled. Do you have any advice? Thanks so much !

Melanie Wallace: THANK YOU! All the “what about’s“ are exactly why I keep reaching back for my flat iron! Thank you for condensing it to a few manageable tips. I think I might be addicted to silicone in my products (is silicone addiction a thing, lol?) because it seems to help smooth and de-frizz so well. I just found you. I’m gonna keep watching. Maybe I can step away from the flat iron. Thanks so much!

Cherry Russell-Traffanstedt: THANK YOU! I’m one of the people who’s been feeling overwhelmed. I just started this process and WOW! I’m noticing that sooo many are already giving me unsolicited advice about the CG method and being totally staunch about it. As if we’ll all go to hell if we deviate from it even a little. As a newbie, I just wanna say first of all, IT’S HAIR...everyone take a chill pill. So many REAL issues going on in the world right now and I’m not letting my hair become one. Secondly, it’s MY hair and I’ll color it if I want to. I’ve taken super great care of it and I’m transitioning fairly easy. The overwhelming part is knowing what products to get. Most who’ve been doing CG for a while have found their own HG, but that opinion varies from person to person. I’m realizing this is trial and error for literally everyone. I’ll take what I can from the CG method and keep what works for me. Also keeping in mind that I have my own unique head of hair. It’s my job to find what works for my hair, and not other people. I greatly appreciate this video, so again...thank you!

RobinOrzo: Thank you for simplifying things. I was super overwhelmed. I just chopped a bunch of the damage off and I’m trying to get back to my old beautiful curls. This makes me think I can’t get there, thank you!!

Michelle Morales: I started the curly girl Method about 1 month ago with wavy slightly curly hair ever since I did this I notice my hair was actually way curlier then I thought :)

Victoria Moore: I'm so excited to find your channel! My hair (and my daughter's) is almost the same as yours... curly ringlets underneath with almost stick straight on top. So frustrating. What I didn't realize until very recently by accident is that I could get the top to be much more curly by not brushing or combing out my hair and just leaving it alone! Then I stumbled on your videos and the curly girl method which I had never heard of. Amazing! I'm so excited to start this transition. Thank you!

Roni Aries: Love this. After years of straightening, dying my hair, then just pulling up into buns, then keratin treatments for the last two years or so..then dying my hair again, I NEEDED to get back to basics. I did cut my hair shorter/just above shoulder length, because my ends were also bleached and damaged (yikes! ) My hair is naturally like yours, maybe a tad coarser/curlier.. So Thank you for the encouragement and starter’s info to getting back to my curly hair roots..literally!

Julie Adams: Thanks! I'm at the day where I will first wash my hair after a curly girl haircut/transformation. I won't worry about all the detail, you're right. I was already ahead of the game in that I haven't used a hair dryer or iron since maybe the 1990s, and I already started using a couple products a week before the haircut and noticed the good results. You can kind of see how straight my hair was in this 2005 pic I have as my profile picture--it was still just slightly damp from the shower. Maybe sometime I'll change the photo when my curls are looking more developed.

Leigh Ammeraal: Thank you for posting such a straightforward video! I am a curly gril newbie and I am feeling overwhelmed! Your hairs is goals!!

DS: Thank you so so so much! this was absolutely perfect as a beginner video. I was so so overwhelmed. I'm so glad to have found your channel. Thank you. About to binge watch your other videos :)

Megan Latimer: Thank you so much for this simple breakdown! I've been wanting to try CG but it's so overwhelming. This really helped.

Fiona Howatson: Thank you. I am 52 and just found out I actually have wavy/curly hair after fighting the frizz all my life! The info out there is overwhelming so I found this video great. I can build on this as I go along. Best wishes from NZ

Victoria Molina: Thank you very much for this, I'm growing a buzzcut after years of bleaching and ironing my hair and I want it to grow back healthy and wavy like it used to be, but yep, most girls that follow the method talk about a lot of products and stuff I just don't understand. You made it so simple.

Opo Kami: Just did my first curly method and WOW! I knew I had waves, but after a new routine I HAVE CURLES and waves. I always wondered why my hair was so frizzy....now I know why. I used luke warm water for the first time and it does make a difference! I do diffuse, but on a low/warm setting. That takes forever, but for me..so worth it

Siobhán K.: NICELY DONE!!! SIMPLE AND TO THE POINT. :)

Alix Saulnier: Thank you so much for making this easy to understand! I watched a few videos before yours and it was definitely overwhelming how much knowledge there was to process. I'm way more motivated to dive in now.

MsRedkitchen: Thanks for the simple start routine. I appreciate it!

Clare: This was super helpful! Just bought some new hair products on Amazon thanks to your suggestions! ☺️

Terra & Brian Baltosiewich: Thank you for keeping it simple. I am brand new and this video really helped me.

Nicola Picola: I just discovered your YouTube Channel a week ago - I have so far done the curly girl in-shower gel three times and my hair is already changing.  I haven't got as far as changing my shampoo/condition to paraben-free yet, but combing the conditioner through in the shower, then applying gel in the shower and using a t-shirt to wrap the hair in - diffuse drying it and NO other product has been necessary.  Already my hair is softer, curls are better defined, it looks like I have actually done something with it so I will gradually work my way through to the "right" shampoos/conditioners as I run out of the current product.  Thank you!

Jeanette Danielsen: Hey Susie! I just started the CG 3 weeks ago, and this video was the first one I ever saw. It gave me to courage and motivation to start, and I am so glad I did! Thank you! Lots of love from Norway =)

Im Just Doing My Best: Thank you so much for the basics!! I did a keratin treatment that has left my Dominican/Puerto Rican crazy hair COMPLETELY straight. I loved it at first but it's really annoying to have to retouch my new growth every 3 months (my hair grows really fast so it's very noticeable after just 3 months). I was super overwhelmed because it seems like every YouTuber does something a little different or they focus heavily on one thing or worse, they talk too damn much. So thank you!!! I did a little summary of what you recommended too just in case. Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️ -No heat, including hot showers -No sulfates, alchohol -No silicones or things that aren't water soluble -Use protective hairstyles that encourage curls. Not tight braids or ponytails. -Stay motivated. -Apply gel or styling cream to soaking wet hair in the shower -Use a t-shirt or microfiber towel to your hair

Meagan Sanders: Thank you for a video that isn’t extremely overwhelming and for some product recommendations that aren’t extremely expensive! I now have an idea of where to start to get my curls back without having to invest my savings and hours of my life!

Christine: Thank you so much for keeping it short and sweet! You made a great call for not making an over long and complicated video, because like you said some people get overwhelmed. I know i did, and this video helped out a lot to start off with :) ❤

Maketheday Perfect: ✨Notes Taking Time 1.NO Heat 2.NO alcohol No silicone 3.NO tight 4.Be patient with the transition phase 5.Gel In Wet Hair 6.Tshirt

Sandied: This is the first curly girl video, that actually makes me curious to see if my wavy hair would curl more, like my dad's hair does. Most videos make it seem like way too much hassle, and usually the person acts in an arrogant way, so I've been put off trying CG. You don't do that. Silicone and most of the sulfates I've already eliminated, but I love brushing my hair, as it tangles easily because of the length. And I'm also wondering about dyeing, because I've mousy grey hair naturally, and I absolutely hate it. I usually dye bright red (sometimes other shock colours), so I have bleached underneath it. Is this going to affect this process, and how much?

Lily T: I've been doing the curly girl method for years now but honestly I'd forgotten a few of these points, like no heat (I'm totally guilty of using a too hot diffuser) and no alcohol, so I think this is a good starter video. It can be really needlessly confusing.

Susan Grande: Hi, Susie! I’m another curly Suzy wannabe. Your videos have been very helpful, and indeed, so much info available on YouTube IS overwhelming! So, thank you for making one about the simplicity of how to start the CGM. I started the CGM 5 days ago. I spent many hours shopping for new hair care goops. Where I live, in the middle of the U.S., we can’t get Suave Naturals conditioner any more. Out of desperation, and hoping it would be okay, I bought Suave Essentials Ocean Breeze conditioner (30 ounce size) for about $3 at my grocery store. I just checked Amazon for Suave Naturals, and compared the ingredients of my big ol’ bottle of S.E. Conditioner, versus the Suave Naturals. They’re identical, except for a slight change in the order of 4 of the long chemical name ingredients. I seriously stressed out over not being able to get Suave Naturals! Aarrrgh. It’s been working very well for me! I hope this tip helps someone else not stress out over only finding Suave Essentials conditioners in their local stores. Here’s a couple of questions for you, or anyone else: I’m post-menopausal, and my hair has thinned out on top. Is there anyone else like me who’s doing the CGM? Also, my hair is currently very short, in a pixie cut. Since discovering the CGM, I’m considering letting my hair grow out. Right now my best guess is that my hair is 2b-2c-3a in texture. I wish I’d known about this hair care method 30 years ago (I had a righteous mullet haircut then!) Your hair is absolutely luscious! Enjoy it! And thank you again for helping other women love their hair better!

Sarah Hazelett: Thank you for making this because I've recently transitioned to curly and am a bit lost still. I've watched routine videos where they use 8-12 products and I am a low maintenance person, 4 max or I can't keep up. Thank you for simplifying it to where I can narrow down all this info.

Andria P: Thank You! I’m so sick and tired of flat ironing my hair. It’s a bad habit that I got into 15 years ago. There also weren’t a lot of products to style curly hair. This method can be confusing so thank you for simplifying it

Jacq O: my hair was very frizzy ever since i was a kid but tiny strands of curl was already visible. I found out that I have a curly hair once I turned it into a pixie and started actually taking care of it. This video is very helpful especially like me who is a curly girl late bloomer.

Trixie Bigby: I appreciated the simplicity of this as I’m just starting to embrace my curls

Jasmin Flowers: I am so happy about this video! Thanks for keeping it short, that's totally sufficient for starting!

BAGESHREE MAHAJAN: You make it sound sooo easy.... I actually took it seriously for the first time, followed it and have started to notice change already

small footprint: I'm trying to catch up on some older videos, so I found this one very helpful. It's a lot to take in when making such a big change. When I went to get my hair trimmed... just before I found out about this method of care, I had the foresight to ask for it to be blunted around the bottom. It's about shoulder length. I had shampooed and conditioned it so she blew it completely dry and flat ironed it, which hurt and pulled hair out. She said it was the only way to cut a blunt cut... because of the wave/curl. I am going to do what you suggested, and never blow dry it or use a flat iron. I won't be needing a cut soon, but the question is in my mind, "How do you get a blunt cut?" for net time. You have simplified things for me, a little. It helps. Thanks for posting.

Lola !: I decided a couple months ago that I was gonna fix my heat damaged hair so this video is really helping me get a good routine down because it always gets frizzy especially in the hot weather and humidity

Kerrbear ASMR: I really needed this,I'm going to be starting my journey and the plethora of information was really overwhelming.Thank you!

Carol Burger: Thank you so much for your simplicity! I want to go curly so much but it scares me lol. You gave me confidence. The gel in the shower! Didn’t know that.

Laura Kanka: I have just discovered your channel! I’ve been shelling out boatloads of cash on devacurl for the last year and still have unreal frizz...so excited to try this simplified curly girl method! I think I’ve watched all your videos here and I am wondering if you have any suggestions on what to do about workouts? When you work out what do you do with your hair? Also do you always co-wash your hair the day after a workout?

Pravljični kanal: Lockdown is perfect for going through the transition period! I'm glad to know that the fact my curls are looking quite sad at the moment is just temporary, hopefully!

Jan Elsperman: I have just started to squish to condish....and love it. My hair is totally different in a great way! I need to grow my hair though..about 7 or 8 inches. I really enjoy your videos Susie! Moving from CA (where I wore my hair straight all the time) to Houston , Texas has been a big influence. Very humid here and wearing hear straight just doesn’t work.

shirley young: As a beginner, I appreciate the simplicity for this video..
