Kerry-Lou’S Curly Hair Routine – Define Curl, Tame Frizz, And Add Volume

In this video I’ll show you how I style my #curlyhair. We’ll start with a basic technique of applying product and air drying, and then add styling options depending on how much time you have. If you watch the whole video you will learn how to create volume and curl in flat areas of your hair, and even how to disguise thin or balding areas. I have been growing out my hair for the last 6 months or so, and I have been trying various curly hair products. In this tutorial I shall be using #aveda Haircare.

Hello: everyone, i'm carrie lou thanks so much for stopping by my channel today. As some of you may know, i've been growing out my hair since november 2019. I have had a spiky pixie cut for quite a few years, and some of you have said that you like the longer look and some have said. Oh, i love your pixie cut. Please cut it short again. Well, i love my pixie cut too, but the truth is my hair is naturally curly and i had to use a straightener almost every day to get that spiky look. So i noticed my hair was getting a little thin from all the heat and i decided that i'm not going to do that anymore. I'M going to grow it longer and just see how it goes. My hair tends to be dry and fine. I know it doesn't. Look it, but my hair is a little thin in front i'll, be showing you ways to camouflage thin areas later on in this video i'll also give you some tips on how to make your hair look fuller. I know many of us are looking for that, because hair does sometimes get thinner as we get older. I'Ve been a professional makeup artist and hair stylist for 20 30. Well many many years. I help people look their best for special events and often i do very pretty updos. I know my hair may never be long enough to do these particular hairstyles. I'Ve created for these beautiful young women, but maybe in the future. I could do something less voluminous and more simple, and with the age of clip and extensions, you'll be surprised what can be done. I would love to be able to do some of those lovely hairstyles on myself eventually, but my hair is not quite long enough. So i'll be using some techniques to help get me through the awkward stages. Let me show you how i've been keeping my curls healthy and looking good. I'Ve been testing aveda products, i'm not sponsored by aveda. I purchase these products myself. Once a week, i wash my hair with aveda, be curly shampoo, this cleanses your hair gently and actually helps define curls and tame frizziness. It has a great fragrance, too kind of citrusy and fresh every other day, i'll, just rinse my hair and use a conditioner or i may use the aveda co-wash, which is a sulfate-free cleanser. This removes build up hair product and it moisturizes curly hair and here's how i style my hair after washing my hair is dripping wet right now some people like to apply gel or other products and let it dry from this point the wetter, your hair, the longer The curl will be i've been using a t-shirt to dry my hair with lately because they don't rough up your hair like a regular terry cloth. Towel does so i'm just going to use this old t-shirt to build up. Oh joe, it's so old. It'S a collectible! Okay, whatever so, i'm just going to use this curly girl towel. This also is very nice on your curls and it's not going to snarl and rough up your hair, making it frizzy like a regular towel. Will next i'm going to use aveda, be curly style prep throughout my hair? This is a nice rich serum and this is going to define the curls in your hair. So first i'm going to roughly divide my hair up just makes it a little bit more manageable. I'M gon na divide it up into you know, put about three clips in it. I like to start with underneath first so i'll, take one pump, put it in the back. Take it to the next section. Once i have it roughly distributed through my hair. Now i'm going to use a wide tooth comb to just comb it through i'm not going to comb it too much, while i style my hair, because you're kind of stretching out your hair and you'll get more curl. If you avoid a comb as much as possible. So i'm just doing it now just to make sure that that uh, that style prep is all the way through my hair from root to tip. Oh, and one thing i forgot make sure you get all your wild frizzy bits, and these little bits here are always such a pain. I was a bit confused when i first purchased this style prep, because it sounded so much like the aveda be curly enhancer, which i'm going to use next, so i've been experimenting with them, both for the last six weeks or so, and i have found that the Style prep in the smaller bottle is more serum-like and a bit more intense than this one. So i used them both. So this is the aveda be curly curl enhancer. This is where ordinarily, you might use a gel. So this is great, if you don't like the look or the feel of a hair gel. There are times that i do use a hair gel, especially if it's very humid out, but most of the time i just like a natural looking curl that doesn't look like it has anything in it, just hydrated and healthy and not crunchy. Like gel. I know all the product names can be confusing, so i'm going to put all these products in the order that i'm using them in the video description. So next i'm going to apply the be curly curl, enhancer um i like to use about three teaspoonfuls in all. So i'm going to start by sectioning off my hair again and if you're in a real hurry, you don't have to use both these products. I do like them together. I'Ve also experimented and used them separately, but i like them together best i'm just scrunching it into my hair. If you find that your hair is drying too fast, you can always use a water spray like this one. I prefer this one because it's a continuous spray and it's easier on your hands, because sometimes your hands can ache if you keep pumping those older style ones. So i just use a little this if it's drying too fast uh notice, how i am scrunching the product into my hair, i'm not dragging it through, because when you do these motions, you're actually training your hair to do what you're telling it to do. So. I, like a higher bouncier curl next, arrange your hair into the way it wants to go. Naturally, because, if you fight with your hair, well, you know who's going to win. Don'T you so just go with the flow. To an extent i mean you, you can tweak it here and there, like i like mine, to be back from my face a little bit, but if your hair really naturally wants to go one way, it's better really not to fight it. Now you could let your hair just air dry, just like this. If you have the time, but if you do choose air drying, please make sure you don't run your fingers through your hair before it's dry or it's going to frizz or you could use a diffuser attachment on your blow dryer. I like this one from dry bar. It has these really good vents here that helps your hair dry at the root you just kind of scoop it up and dry it now. You can just leave it at this point or if you have more time, and you want it to look even better here - are some more tips so before we let it air dry. Let me show you a trick to give your hair more lift at the root where you need it. My hair goes flat in the back here. Part of the reason is for that that i haven't been able to see my hairdresser for about five months now, so i'm in desperate need of a cut so to fix that problem. There'S a couple of things we can do so using these metal clips, i'm going to take a lock of hair, so it's perpendicular to my head and i'm going to secure that lock with the clip. So it's being lifted upwards and outwards. Another thing you can do using these metal clips is if your hair is flat in places which mine is, you may have noticed. I have a curly pattern around the front and the sides - and here it's really quite straight so what i do is i take a lock of hair, one of the straighter pieces and i will curl it around my finger. Take this metal clip. Sorry, i'm doing this without looking in a mirror, so i hope that makes sense to you and you can do that as many times as you need. Some of you may only need one or two pieces and others you might have a large area covered in these little curlers i'll. Do one more for you so that you're clear it almost looks like there's a little hair roller in it. So here's another great trick that you can do with these metal clips. You can actually make your curls look longer. As i said this part corkscrews and is so curly. I actually wish my whole head of hair looked like these ones in front, but oh well, so um, my my fringe area or my bangs is a lot shorter than the rest of my hair. So, in order to make it look a little bit longer, you just use them like you like a weight. So let's see i'm going to just re-wet this a little bit. These are for the curls that really curl up just add it to the end, and then it's going to look like that. It looks a little bit odd while it's drying, but it really works well now. No two heads of hair are exactly alike, so don't copy me exactly take a good look at your own head of hair in the mirror and see where it needs a little oomph. Everybody'S different, so i'm going to let my hair dry a little while and then i'll come back to you. It'S been a couple of hours now, so my hair is really dry. I'M going to take out the metal clips, just be very careful when you take them out, because if you're a little bit rough, you could end up pulling some hair out and i, for one, do not want to lose any more hair. So, as you see, my hair still has a damp look to it, but it is totally dry. Please don't touch your hair until it's really dry or you're going to create some frizz. If i had used a gel, i would now be breaking the cast that the gel creates. But the formula i used is more creamy, so you're not going to get that crunchy effect that you have to break, but i'm just going to go through the hair and i'm going to loosen it up so uh. It just looks a lot more like a free curl and it doesn't look like a set, an old-fashioned set. That'S what i try to avoid. So take a good look in the mirror and decide how you want to shape your hair. It'S a little bit like sculpting. I like to use the tail end of the comb and just give it a little lift in places now you've been becoming familiar with how my hair looks during this video. So you know that flatness here is my little area that i like to improve upon. So i'll just give it a little bit of a lift there. It also helps if you look in two mirrors and then you can see the back of your hair but um. I kind of like to give it this angle and it kind of lifts the face. What i could also do is pop it behind my ears like that, and then you see the cheekbones and it gives me a more uplifted look. So here's the tip i promised. I will tell you about on how to disguise thinning hair. This is topic. It'S a product that i would always have in my hair, styling kit. When i was working on tv, those tv lights can be brutal and blast light right through a person's hair showing any thinness that they have. I'M going to put a link to this in the video description below, but let me show you how this works, so this is where my thin area is now. You know all my secrets, so i'm going to use the white one in the front, because my hair is whiter right here. So this is a little bit of scalp that i like to disguise. Oh, it's snowing. I don't know if you can see it, but it does. It does fly a little bit, but if you get real close, it won't do that. I just i'm trying to show you it's a little bit tricky to show you. Okay, i'm really going to part this. This would be better if i was demonstrating it on someone else. Maybe i will in a future video okay. So this one is the gray colored one and because my hair is darker in the back, i'm going to use the darker color back here. This is where um i have a cowlick and it parts. My hair um you've probably seen that in other videos, when my hair was shorter, so i'm going to put it in until you can't see the scalp anymore, it really works so well. I'Ve used this on many an actor's head. I'M not telling you who, though, so this is the result of this curly hair method. I do hope you like this video. If you did please subscribe, if you haven't already and i'll see you next time, bye,

J Miller: I will be 78 in October and I have hair exactly like yours Kerry-Lou. Same thin hair with the same type of curls and very similar thin and flat spots in the back. My hair is also the same color and length as I grow it out now. This is the first time in my life, starting at the age of 15, that I have found real solutions that I know will work .Trough my trial and error I know the products recommended will be excellent. Your curly hair video is delightful to watch and the demonstration is clear and simple; the results are beautiful. Finally I will l have a routine that will be perfect as well as very uplifting for me at this point in my life. Huge appreciation from me! Also: You look simply gorgeous with these curls growing out. Outstanding!

Doris Konieczny: Finally a gorgeous woman, who embraces her age and natural beauty. I love it and she is beautiful.

Teri Pinney: At 71, I have finally learned how to embrace and style my curls! Thank you, Kerry-Lou, for your “secret” techniques.

Laura Mills: You look fabulous. I've been wearing my coarse, curly hair in a very short, over the ears cut to avoid having to deal with it. This video makes me want to grow it out a couple of inches and let the curl come back. Since I quit dying my hair earlier in the year, it feels so much softer and I'm beginning to love my salt and pepper look. Thanks for the video.

Frances Macarz: Your hair looks absolutely amazing!!! I’ve stopped colouring after 30 years and my curls and natural colour are very similar to yours. Thank you for all the wonderful advice. You’ve make the transition so much easier!!!!

Lori Skillman: Your curls are amazing! I have curly hair and went gray at the start of Covid. It's fine also. Love these tips!

Shannon Johnson: Thank you Kerry Lou....this was so encouraging to me. I have some curls, some waves and some straight pieces that are in the wrong place. Blowing it out feels so damaging, takes a lot of product and changes as soon as any humidity strikes. Leaving the waves and curls alone always felt a bit unkempt; cowlicks and flat spots. You shared a few tips I’m hopeful may help. Would love to see how your next cut is done. Thank you!

PandafanDS: I loved this video. I have short, fine curly hair and struggle to keep it from frizzing and going flat. I'm in my 70's and have been coloring it for years but feel it's getting time to go gray. After seeing how beautiful your short gray hair is, it's giving me more incentive... Your hair is gorgeous !

Alpha Lily: I just found your channel. Thank you for all the info! I am just beginning transitioning to my natural gray hair for the first time ever. I'm 39 & haven't seen my natural color since I was in my early 20's. Thank you for the inspiration. ❤️

Kerry-Lou: Good morning everyone, I hope you’re having a lovely weekend so far! Let me know if you like this video!

Joan Marie Pat: My hair, both in curl and length, is very much like yours. Thank you so very much for this video. I found it very helpful as well as very encouraging.

Lillian Lizardi: I loved your tutorial. Very informative and you explained every step while showing the steps. Thank you and I will try the aveno products

rf rf: I am so glad I found your channel. I am 45 and decided about 18 months ago to stop dying my curly hair. Your hair is beautiful and I can use all the tips I can get! Thank you for sharing!

Dede Blakeney: Loved the video! When I went through menopause, the back of my hair went curly in the back of my head, top and sides just has body to it. I've always had stick straight hair, so I really don't know how to take care of it now. Thank you so much. Love all your videos - a must is your makeup tips for um... older women. At 57, I've had to charge that too.☺️

Kuvasz 93: Love your video. You look stunning and I especially love the short curly look. You’ve inspired me to try this look. Thanks

Janet Yamashige: I loved your pixie cut. I love this longer, curly look. You are such a beauty, I think you would look absolutely smashing with a shaved head, or with hair down your back. Thank you for the tutorial!

JENNIFER KEEN: Your curls are absolutely gorgeous! I hope you grow it long and luxurious! You did my makeup for my headshots with Joe for House of Cards. You are FANTASTIC! Thank you for your informative videos! XXOO

Judite Marchany-de Castro: The short hair looked fabulous but this natural look looks just as good. My hair has thinned out too and I am always looking for help. Thank you for all of your advice. I always look forward to your videos.

Jen Lambie: Hi Kerry-Lou. After so many attempts at growing my hair longer, I've come to the conclusion, finally, that my rather square, strong jawline suits short pixi. So for the past 6 months I have used the two handed mirror technique to trim my hair with scissors and clippers every 2 weeks and as it's curly just like yours I find it hides a multitude of slight mistakes (my hairdresser may not agree). Loved the video, but truly you can wear any style and look fantastic . Keep well and cheers to the "BOSS", Joe ♥️

Jeannine D.: You are my favorite YouTuber, I love your calm style and fun information. I look forward to your hair growing and upcoming videos for updos. I have been 5 yrs dye free with below my shoulders wavy salt and pepper hair. I wear it up exclusively and I'm interested in your take on different easy updos

Antonella Restini: Thank you so much for making this video! I also had a pixie cut for a looong time before letting my curls grow and I haven't found a routine that really works. Looking for short curly hair routines here is tricky because in most of them the hair is actually almost shoulder lenght. Plus, I'm completely in love with you. You're gorgeous and so sweet!

Paul B.: Most beautiful grey curls I've ever seen !

Esh Kaur: I love your hair! Thank you for the recommendation. I’ll definitely try your method out. You look more beautiful than ever! Love your videos! ❤️

Melissa Rupard: What a lovely woman. So gracious and pretty. I loved the peaceful feel to this video and also that you didn’t try to make yourself look 35. Its society that tells us aging is bad and unattractive. It’s simply a fact of life, if you are lucky enough to age. Not everyone is and I prefer it to the alternative! In my opinion, which really only matters to me, I guess, you look beautiful and your curls are much more becoming and soft around your lovely face. I’ll watch more of your videos, because it’s refreshing to see someone who isn’t 18 and who is courteous and speaks in proper sentences..!

Paula Baile: You are the best and just who I have been looking for on YouTube! Thank you for your tutorials and encouragement to do the best with what we have. I haven’t seen a good tutorial on curly hair on mature women until now. I am getting my first “Diva Cut” on Wednesday and think I might go short! I did order the Aveda products through your link so thank you for linking them! Cheers and great health to you and your family!

TheGalwayfan: I love your longer hair.❤ My daughter has beautiful curls like you do. I wear a super short pixie. I'm not very big so my hair can overwhelm me. It's very thick and I got tired of fighting with it. By the way, I'm 66 and have barely any gray. I don't plan on coloring it when it does finally go gray. I'm embracing my age and enjoying it

Southern Digest: Wonderful information and tips! Thanks so much for the links also. My hair is very similar to yours both in color and curl. I’ve struggled with the flat areas near the crown, too. I’m looking forward to trying those clips! I’ll also be looking for a continuous-spray water bottle. It’s a blessing to find such a great channel for mature women. Thank you for sharing you expertise and lovely charm with us!

Pushkala Muralidharan: As always a delightful video! The end result of your hair routine is superb! I just couldn't take my eyes off your smile, it just lights up the whole room...you are a classic beauty!!

Frankie Nichols: I've been waiting for you to make another hair video and really enjoyed this one. I was starting to think something was wrong with me. I've always had natural curly hair, but it's gotten extremely curly on top as I've gotten grayer, but my sides are wavy like my Mom's was. Now the back is quite straight, I have to say, I purchased some very tiny brush rollers, that I put on the back of my hair, that seems to work quite well. Thanks for sharing about your different hair products. God bless you for taking the time to make these videos.

Nancy Marlowe: As a new subscriber, viewer, with curly hair of my own,I love this length and curly look on you,so,so becoming, thanks for the tips!

Nadine Ritchie: Just found your videos. Thank you for all your sharing ❤ I'm 1 year into letting my curly hair free and letting my natural color shine, gray and all. Looking forward to watching other videos. By the way - your gorgeous! In and out.

Jackelpubs: Oh that’s a great idea with the clips for the flatter hair in the back. Mine is curly around the front and underneath. Just started growing out my gray. Thanks for the tips

MrsOcie1: thank you for this video! I have short, fine, dry, silver gray, curly hair exactly like yours. I am 63 years old. I am fair and have blue eyes, I was coloring my gray for years! Now I have decided to let it go to its natural color, and it complements my skin and eyes like yourself. When I was younger in high school, curly hair wasn't "in", I would straighten it ( chemically and it ruined it), curl it with large curlers to soften the curl (thinking I was straightening it), grease it down with VO-5 and brush it down to keep the curls from curling and try to keep it flat. Over time curly hair has been embraced and promoted by women and hair stylists. Thank goodness, I was a very sad teenager trying to hide my curls. Now I let them free. I love my curls and my curls fit me. I have used the small bottle of Aveda that you used, but I never used all their products. I'm going to get them all and try your method on my hair. Thank you so much, its pleasant to see someone that has the same issues as myself and lots of women. You are beautiful, and your curly hair fits you! Enjoy your day!!

Catherine: Thank you for the great tips. Will definitely try them out. Lovely to see you back & congratulations on your first grandchild.

Inessa Yankovskaya: Such a beautiful woman! Thank you for this video! I will try to make my curls the same way

BGW: I just discovered your channel and love the tips, tricks, and info you are giving us older women. I'm 69 and have curly hair also, but continue to use heat to make it a bit more contained. I've been wanting to go natural, but was unsure just how that would look on me. Also, still coloring my hair a medium brown, my natural color. I was wondering if you could do a diet and exercise video for us as I unfortunately continue to gain weight as i go through the years. Any tips? :)

kathy lam: Love your hair! I too am a curly girl and frizz is my main concern. My father, who just passed at 98 couldn't help commenting every time he saw me: "Where did you go after you combed your hair today?" Or, "Do you use an egg beater to comb your hair?" It gave me a good laugh every time, but one can't help being self conscious after that! I'm so glad people are accepting their natural curl! I spent years trying to straighten it w/brushes, blow dryers, curling irons....I feel so free now! And with age (65) comes a little more freedom! Thanks Kerry Lou!! You're terrific!

Diane Eugster: Love your videos, you actually make aging fun!

Reinvented Delaware: I love watching your videos!! You have such a nice smile and sound to your voice! I have been growing out my hair (and also no color!!) since March and I am loving it! My hair is more of a messy wavy hair but I think the techniques and products you mention will help! Thanks for the tutorial and for the encouragement to look lovely at any age!

xiomara s: You look perfect the way you are. You look fresh and natural. Your hair looks gorgeous. Keep it the way you feel good in it.

Kam I: I love your curly hair Kerry-Lou! Wish mine looked as lovely! Thanks for the tips. ❤️

Jesse Smith: Wow, I love your hair in this video - so soft and flattering looking!

Sheila Gutowski: Thank you so much, I'm so tired of using hot tools on my fine wavy and curly hair. Your video is tremendously helpful in showing me how I can work with what my natural hair wants to do. Thank you.

Kim Carr: I can't wait either. I have white gray hair that looks blond and getting technique and products right is a job with poor benefits. My hair isn't as short as hers or curly but I'm sure she has some ideas to share. Yes! Grandchildren are everything

Rosalie Vasilos: Love this video. I am 68 years old I have similar hair and you have taught me a few new tips or tricks

Mónica Cervera: Lately I have seen many curly hair videos and this is the first time I see somebody with a hair so similar to mine! (Darker in the back, curlier around th face, same flatten areas, fine hair...) Funny fact: I've being letting my hair grow since November 2019! (I had to cut it all because a pseudo haidresser burnt my hair while trying to bleach it to go gray), however, now is naturally gray since I'm over 40. Thank you so much for the tips and the suggestions on the products. It' has been refreshing to find your channel.

Olga Bonilla: The hair lenght on this video looks so becoming. You manage so hair so well . Thanks for all the tips, Kerry-Lou.

Maria H: Wonderful video, Kerry-Lou!  My hair is coarse and I have now used a 5” wooden dowel to cut my hair the same length all over. I will try your techniques the next time I wash my hair. Thank you. ~Maria

Maria Dracou: Thank you for your kind advice!!! So useful and helpful!!!!

Mary Marino: I'm over 60...and since I embraced my curly hair decades ago, I've been searching for solutions and products that work for me...a lifetime of hair exploration!!! Soup cans for rollers! Ironing my hair! ...and the products I've tried! Different climates I've lived in all required different hair solutions. I just ordered the Aveda products. Thank you for trying so many and giving us the results of your research! LOVE you videos! Velvet Voice is my name for you!!!

ALMA ORTIZ: Hi. I am happy to know that someone else has curly hair like me. And, salt and pepper too. How about a video on what a good haircut would look like on curly hair. I believe you ll be getting some sort of trim or shape up to help with the growth. I enjoy all your videos. Thank you so much. Alma

Turra Gorman: Love your curls and it looks great on you. I agree with fine, thin hair and heat products-not good. My hair is fine and straight and the less heat appliances, the health and volume is restored. I try to go with what nature gave me and not fight it. Thanks Kerry Liu.

Mia Fay: I loved Kerry Lou's presentation. She is beautiful as are her hair, her accent and her techniques!

Karen S.: ‘Love this video, mainly because I’m also months out from my last trim, and I’m letting my hair take over (I’m naturally curly, too, and if I don’t get to the salon soon, my hair will have its own zip code). I was particularly interested in the Aveda Curly Hair products and the Curly Girl towel. Those will help!

Dizzylux Smith: Loved the video. Your hair is beautiful. I’m Grey and wavy for the most part the back is super curly and the front I sorta wavy. Well we all have issues with our hair. Don’t cut it!!

Nancy Simonds: Thank you, thank you! I will certainly try these products and techniques! I love your down-to-earth personality. Looking forward to your next one.❤️❤️

Sunshine: Thank you Kerry-Lou. After watching this video I had my hairdresser cut my natural curly hair short today….yikes! . I do like it though! I can’t remember when I had it this short. My hair is a lot lighter than yours, although grey. It was blond in my younger years. I will now try & get the products you recommend in this video. Also thanks for the information where I could find all the Drug Store (Chemist in Australia) makeup for mature age women on your site. I won’t be as beautiful as you but I now have a better knowledge regarding the use of makeup. I’ll be 74 years in March. Many thanks again for the information, much appreciated.

Angela Carpinone: Thank you! My hair is the same color with a similar curl pattern. I have corkscrew curls in front that get straighter towards the back and flattens on the side. Love your advice and demos. Your makeup is beautiful as well. What color do you use on your eyebrows?

linda jackson: Hello Kerry-Lou do you and I absolutely love this and the ones before ☝it was before keep giving us new inspirational ideas so thank you for sharing ☺️❤️

brilliantatbreakfast: I think your hairstyle is perfect as is. I am a 65-year-old woman with male pattern baldness and it's giving me fits. I noticed during the pandemic that my hair is curlier than it used to be so I'm hoping to grow it out. This video is really helpful. Not sure if I can make it work, but I sure hope so, because my front and crown hair is painfully thin.

Catherine Goser: THANK YOU SO MUCH. My frizzy and thinning hair will surely benefit from this!

Carol A: Absolutely beautiful! If you glance at my thumbnail...I recently cut my own hair - my usual girl is out until the end of October and I always got a "carve and slice" from her. I missed the previous appointment in March due to Covid and I couldn't take it anymore. Now, I don't know what to do with my much shorter hair, but you have certainly helped me. Personally, I think the shorter hair is more work than having it longer. Have you ever used the Quidad hair products? That's what I have on hand right now. If so, thoughts??? And, the blouse...where did you get it? Take care and thanks, Carol

Darcy Palmer: I love your curly, gray hair. It's just beautiful!

Judy Brown: What you offer is very important for me as I'm growing out my hair to get rid of tint and allow my natural color, and the grey, to take over. I also have curly hair and a short style now to make the most of it. I'm so glad I found your video. I looked at others, but they just didn't cover what I needed. By the way, I'm 81 and still have a lot of my natural hair color. It runs in the family! Many thanks, Kerri-Lou.

Kristen Taylor: I love your short curls, wish I could find someone who could cut my hair like it!

Tina Adams: You are such a beautiful classy woman! Your hair curls and length is very similar to mine. I am 61 and just recently decided to embrace my grays AND curly hair. Anywaaaaay thanks for the tips!!

Virginia Michelini: Had straight hair all my life. Now I quit coloring and allowing it to grow. It is a little longer than yours with just nice waves. I will get some of the products above to see how I might can train my hair. I am 71 so this is new and exciting. Thanks for your help.

Foxiepaws ACAnderson: You are so beautiful and your wonderful personality shines through. My late mum was very like you, she looked like Isabella Rosselini and always looked timeless like yourself. I was 60 in my channel photo and am 63 now and hopefully I will continue to defy age but if and when my hair becomes silver, I will embrace it because you look fabulous with yours. Love your channel and look forward to your videos!

Charlotte Thien: Your hair looks beautiful like it is ❤️

Susan Waggoner: Kerry Lou, you are so inspiring...Love the new look!

Stacey Trewart: What a lovely video Kerry-Lou! I love your hair videos ... your pixie cut inspired my own but I equally love your curls!! What I also admire is how beautiful your skin looks both on your face and neck...you are very blessed to have such natural beauty. And how funny was the bit with Joe’s The Boss t shirt!! Great video

Maria Neophytou: Hello Kerry-Lou thank you for giving me enough courage to grow out my grey curly hair , which is very similar to yours. If I was going to buy only one aveda product, to try , which one would you recommend, Prep or Style. Thank you you keep us smiling and give us lots and lots of tips.

Terri B: Kerry-Lou is my fairy glam-mother. Love the vids!!

Mima's World: You have such lovely hair. I like the style very much - it suits you well. Thank you for the fabulous tips!

Carrie Moon-Dupree: I too have let my curls grow out. I had forgotten that I even had curls as I’ve kept my hair short for 40 yrs. I’ve been using the Aveda curly products to great results. Glad to know that I am not the only one with sections that are straight. Thanks for suggestions on how to fix that issue.

Cheryl Harris Sumida: Your videos are so informative! I don't have the corkscrew curls that you do but left to its own devices, my hair will curl. You have given me ideas for products to encourage this as well as to explain why my hair will kink out after a while. DON'T TOUCH YOUR HAIR WHEN IT'S DRYING!

Nancy Vasquez: Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! Another awesome video!!! I learned so much!!!

Jxnitor: Thanks for sharing Kerry-Lou - my hair is as short and curly but thicker and harder to maintain curls after drying.

Cruz Thurman: Looks so lovely, thanks for the video

Gina Garvey: Really helpful thank you. I'm grey & curly with straight bits - smashing tip re the finger curls

Christine Millership: Really love this video! I have recently been diagnosed with a condition that I need to take chemotherapy for, and unfortunately it will be for the rest of my life. I had longer wavy hair and plenty of it, but after the drug got into my system it is curlier hair at frizzes but has fallen out so much that I had it cut really short. However, after a lifetime of caring for my previous type of hair, I am having trouble switching to this new me. I’m really struggling to make any style work........the patches of baldness, the thinness of the hair shaft, lack of shine.........but all that is until today! I can’t thank you enough for these instructions and ideas.......I’ve been feeling so down and I look in the mirror and just see an unattractive me. It’s lack of confidence since my illness, and as I no longer go out (as I am shielding from Covid) I am looking for something, anything, to make me feel better. I’m going to hit Aveda online and get the kit you use and follow this video. You are an angel! Thank you xx

Rhonda Smith: I turn 50 this year, and stopped dying it Dec 2019. I have always had frizzy long hair, that I'd perm. I've been trying to learn curly/wavy girl ways. I love it when it works. But I hate the dishwater blond, and flatness on the top. I have not tried Aveda n will give them a try. I live in SE Tx, hardwater issues. I'm still learning what my hair wants/needs. You have gorgeous hair and I love the color. I was wondering if you'd tried Overtone? I noticed my hair looks healthier n I get compliments, but I just hate this color.. I wish it were more Silver. Anyhoo, a big Thank your for sharing your knowledge. Going to go check out more of your vids. :)

Roya: Great video. My hair is very similar to yours, so these are great advice.

Mara Morrison: Looks great on you. I don't have the patience to go through all the steps you do. I loved your pixie and recently had my cut super short for fun and easy care.

Paula B: thank you so much for posting this video. Your hair colouring, length and curl pattern and mine are fairly similar. Like you, I am growing out a short pixie cut and embracing my curls. i was hoping to see the 'T-shirt' method but oh, well. I watch your growing hair style with great interest. Thanks for the metal clip tips too

Sara: Hi girl! I am working on creating a tool to allow women to scrunch their hair with less effort. I have a few questions to guide the development of the product 1. I was wondering what your big pain points are when it comes to scrunching hair? 2. On average, how long do you scrunch your hair? 3. Why do you scrunch your hair - how does it benefit your hair? 4. What would you expect from a hair scrunch tool (besides the basic functionality)? You can speak to design, functions, ergonomics etc. Would love to hear everyones feedback!

Lacy Gorman: You have naturally curly hair and hooded eyes! You're fair skinned and over 50! You're my hero!!!

Margaret Andersen: I think your curly hair is much more beautiful than the pixie cut. In my opinion your curly hair makes you look younger. I have curly hair and always cut it short but during the pandemic lockdown I had to let it grow because beauty parlors were closed. Now that my hair is long and curly I really love it. I love this video on how to treat curly hair. Thank you for sharing. ❤️❤️❤️

Musingsatcoco: You are adorable. Love your hair. I just did the chop and now have sort of pixie (loved it as a young woman and love it older). It's so interesting that you, as a makeup, hair and style expert, put a name to things that I (as a photographer) have always been intuitive about but hard to verbalize. That is higher hair on top lifts your face and hair behind you ears highlights cheekbones. When I see older women with pin straight hair hanging down to below shoulder length with no style, I want to say "please please." Young, gorgeous, no wrinkles gals can get away with it. Anyway, thank you. Always find you delightful.

Sherry Pitts: Thank you cannot wait to see what products I can use that I can afford! Love your videos!

Conversations with Kat: I love your hair both ways! You are so talented!

Audrey G.: Love your curls! Instead of Toppik, get Febron. I use Febron all the time. It's cheaper for more product and does a great job..

Myra Waterman: Love your curls !

G2014 -: Love your look! No matter how much I moisturize, my hair stays wiry on the underside of my hair. What can I do to fix this? Clear hair glaze? I follow the Curly Girl method. Thanks!

Anthea Krieger: Stunning!! ♥️

Aging Gracefully with Noelia Soto: Loved this video..I too use something similar to cover areas that are thinner.

Claire Tremblay: It's so nice & pleasant to hear you. Love your make-up and this lipstick is soooo beautiful, féminine & elegant! Suit's you really well. Love to see your video.

Vivian Basnett: It's beautiful, just the way it is!

Ana Mello: Hi from Australia Such a great tutorial. May I ask you?: a) Where did you get your blouse from? b) Have you tried the serums from Kérastase? If so, do you find Avena’s better? Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge

Antonia Exposito Muñoz: Gracias Kerry!!! por ponerlo en español...te seguimos!!!!! Saludos!
