Hey guys welcome to my channel, my name is Marissa, and today's video I'm gon na, be showing you step by step, my curly hair routine. This is actually my very first youtube video, so I'm super excited to start this journey with you guys. This channel is gon na, be covering curly hair care, curly hairstyles a little bit of DIY in 15 Donen as well. So if that interests you at all, if you would please hit subscribe right here, down below I'll, have weekly videos coming to you guys. But let's go ahead and get started, so my hair type is, I would say, a mixture between 2, 3 and 3, a curl. So here's a quick hair chart to show you exactly what I mean by that and so that you can see what curl pattern. Your hair falls into so the top of my hair happens to be a lot tighter than the bottom section of my hair. I'Ve mentioned this a few times on my Instagram channel. The bottom sections of my hair are super wavy to almost straight, and the very top sections of my hair can actually get some spirals going on like that 3a curl pattern. So I have a mixture and these products that I use are really good. On my hair, I can't use super heavy products like butters or custards, so I like to stick with mousses creams, the creams that aren't too heavy on my hair, just so that my hair isn't getting weighed down. So my hair is clean. I'M just taking out of this fun that it's been in since last night. So this is my normal hair texture. I don't have any products in it and it dries pretty big and pretty frizzy, so I'm gon na rewedding, so I can style so grab a wide tooth comb and I like to use a towel that way. My floors aren't soaking wet after all of this, and when you detangle, you want to start at the very ends of your hair. What that's gon na do is prevent breakage and just make it a lot easier to get through. I'M using a hair tie to separate my hair into two large sections. The reason I like to do this is just to make sure that each section of my hair is getting the same amount of hair product that, with my curls look nice and uniform. I'M gon na be using the not your mother's curl talk defining cream. This is one of my all-time favorite hair products. I use about a quarter size amount on each section and I like to start at the ends and work my way up, just to make sure that my ends are coated really well. The gel that I'm using today is the Aussie instant, freeze gel and it's a really heavy hold gel. But I like to use it because I know that it's gon na make sure that my curls last two to three days so I'm using the diamond brush to help my curls really clump together and really increase the definition that I get in my hair. When I'm not using the diamond brush, I feel, like my curls, look a little bit thin and on the scraggly side, so it really just does help to increase the curl pattern and making sure that you're getting nice healthy-looking curls. So I scrunch my hair to help encourage the natural curl pattern that I have spring right back up, because when you have a looser curl pattern, like I do when you brush your hair, when it's wet, it can look like it's straight and when I'm using any Kind of brush I like to brush from underneath and comb out instead of coming straight down just so that my hair doesn't stick to my scalp and create really flat roots and quick tip. If you feel like your hair, is drying out at all, don't be afraid to add more water to make your hair a little bit easier to work with. I do work in very small sections with the diamond brush when I'm trying to achieve that very defined. Look if I'm going after more volume than I just work in bigger sections, so to help with definition, I do finger coil the front few sections. I don't do this with all my hair because it would take forever, but this really does help making sure that your curls are defined, especially in the front few sections where you're gon na see them the most. So once you're done applying the product to each section of your hair, you want to scrunch it all together. It'S gon na help. It blend more naturally, and then, once you do that you want to flip your hair over side to side. Occasionally, it's gon na really help create volume and making sure that your hair isn't sticking to your roots. So I'm using my Revlon blow-dryer here and just using the detachable diffuser that came along with it and I'm hovered diffusing my hair. So what that means is that I'm not touching my hair at all with the diffuser, I'm really letting that gel cast kind of set just to make sure that my curls stay in place, and I focused in the beginning most of the diffusing at my roots. Just because that does take the longest to dry, so once I'm done with hover defusing and I feel like my hair - is about 80 % dry, then I'll start going in with my diffuser and working in this scrunching motion. Well, that's gon. Na help do is break up the gel cast that set and making sure that my hair doesn't feel crunchy, and I really do still focus most of the defusing at my roots, because that's the only section of my hair that isn't a hundred percent dry. And I am alternating between warm air and cold air. My blow-dryer does have a hot option, but it gets way too hot and it's actually burnt my scalp before so I stay far away from that. But if you have a blow-dryer and you don't have a warm option and you only have a hot option, I would definitely recommend adding a heat protectant spray before you start diffusing. Okay, just wanted to give a close-up of my end results and highlight some of the extra frizz that I've gotten in the front of my hair now. The reason I have extra frizz is because I've been touching my hair a lot for this video, so pro tip. Do you want to reduce the amount of frizz that you have in your hair? Try to keep your hands off of your hair and I know it's hard super tempting I'm always wanting to touch my hair and move it around, but it's just gon na cause extra frizz. So if you really need to like scrunch out the gel cast or you need to create more volume, try adding a light oil to your fingertips. I like to use argan oil, but there's plenty of other oils. You can use and then touch your hair, because it's gon na help reduce the amount of frizz that you have. Okay guys. I hope that video was useful for you if you liked it and want to see more make sure to hit the notification button, because I will have new videos coming to you weekly, and I will see you next time.

Mika Quezada: My hair and I have a lot in common: We both thought we where straight

Abby Ohlson: we have such a similar hair type! so glad i found your channel! your hair is my new goals i strive for that volume

Mochi Mía •: FINALLY FOUND MY HAIR TWIN my hair gets weighed down easily, the top pieces are ringlets, and the curls under gradually gets looser. i thought this was because of heat damage but I’ve cut it all off and it’s just my natural hair. i’m so happy i came across your video ALSO, whenever i pineapple my hair at night, my curls get stretched out and they’re not as tight. any tips on that? you got me excited for my wash day lmao

Casey Arr: I have the opposite. The bottom of my hair is curly and the strands near my face are practically straight

Shaney Swift: Me: "OMG look she has my curl type!" *Subscribes immediately*

meggopops: Your hair is so beautiful! I’m looking forward to your videos. I love seeing/learning about how people style their curls!

Belen Tarifa: This is exactly how my hair used to be!! I thought I had damage from bleach that’s left my hair more of a 2b/c but my hair was still 2c/3a like yours even while my hair was dyed. I think I got damage from DevaCurl products I used trying to save my hair which completely changed so now I’m on a whole journey trying to get my hair back to how it was! Thank you!!

ANGELA CUSTODIO: So happy I found your channel! We have a similar curl type so I followed your tutorial and my curls came out amazing

Elise Williams: Thank you so much for this video!! I just recently realized a few months ago that I have curly hair and it's been a struggle to try and figure it out! This video is so helpful & makes me feel so much better about my curl combinations/hair type!

Clara Wyant: Thank goddess for your video!!! I've chopped off my damaged hair and finally decided to embrace my curls which are an opposite mix of yours 3a on under layer 2c on top layers. I have been trying and failing on getting my curl care in, this video is a MASSIVE help!

Fany Apartsev-Faibyshev: Your hair is the most similar to mine that i've seen on YouTube! My pro tip is using a serum after gel-casting. It eliminates all the freeze for me. I use John Frieda's frizz ease surum that comes in purple. It does make me wash my hair more often but it holds it really well for the 2 days I don't wash.

Journey with Rosie: Your hair is like the same exact texture and curl pattern as mine! I’ve never been satisfied with my curls so I am going to invest in these products and try them out. Also - you are SO PRETTY!!!

marygrace: I don't think I have ever seen such a affordable yet effective hair routine before! I love it!

Kristen Rainey: I loved this video, you do such a wonderful job explaining and I think I have a similar curl type to yours so this is suuuuuper helpful Do you prefer to diffuse your hair so it’s dry sooner or because it helps give you the curl you like? I usually air dry mine, so I wondered if you are for it against air drying;)

stfu: we have the EXACT same curl pattern thank you for this!

Sunshine Luna: We have the exact same curl type mix, I’ve never seen anyone with similar hair. Im so glad I came across this video :)

visuallyoriented: I'm so glad I found your channel! Our curl patterns are almost identical. How long do you spend diffusing? I always give up too soon with my waist length hair

Eva Chebishev: Also my exact curl type mix! So excited to try treating my curls right

Kathryn: 1have 2c/3a hair. I've watched many curly hair videos and thought I pretty much "knew it all" but I was wrong. I've learned a lot I didn't know from your videos. I'm so thankful to have found your channel!

Miranda Najarro: ngl i nearly cried when i saw that i have a similar hair type to you. i have always hated my hair because it's frizzy unless i straighten it. i've recently wanted to embrace my natural curls, and this is a super helpful guide in the right direction. thank you so much for this video!

LadyJane-Stephanie: I love the way you brushed your hair like that! That’ll definitely get the product to soak through the entire hair strand!!! I bet it’s great for your roots!!!

Elizabeth Rodriguez: Yesss finally !!! all i have been finding are women with beautiful 3B+ curls on YouTube and I would feel less confident about my looser curls but I’m glad I came across your channel ☺️

Sammy Aparicio: The blow drying technique is so good! I’ll definitely be trying it out

k aline: if you want more shine in your hair, I recommend applying an oil before finishing, and also using a lighter cream to not weigh the curls down! btw, your hair is so beautiful!I'm in love with him hahahah Hugs from Brazil

Tiffany Martin: So glad I found your videos! I am new to this journey and couldn't figure out what my hair was trying to do. It is clumping bigger and wanting to wrap around...now, I see it wants to coil into 3a patterns and I was trying to make them do what I thought was 2c...bc I thought I had 2c hair. I can tell I have some 2c but a lot of 3a. This is so fascinating. I am going to see if I can encourage my hair to go into the pattern it wants a bit better and use a gel vs a mousse and see if that helps a bit as well. I'm so new to all this but it is fun to learn and try to learn my hair at the same time.

Dorcas Troche: My hair is almost identical to yours. It looks beautiful. Thanks for the tips. Love it!

Sandra Facundo: I’m sooo glad I found your channel! Automatically subbed! The way you described your hair is almost the same! My hair is 2c-3a but is very thick so no heavy products. My sisters and my mom have thin hair but very coily/curly hair so I’m stuck with using their products that don’t work for my hair! Ugh! I’m thinking of buying Not Your Mother’s products pretty soon! You need more attention soon! Keep up the work!

JenniferM: Hair goals!! I've been looking for someone that has my hair type! You go girl!!

Leandra Fonseca: Perfeita

therealjambery: My hair does the same thing! It's definitely less curly underneath. Our hair types are really similar, glad I found you!

Carolina Prado-Rico: Thank god I found you!! My hair also curls and waves up in that same exact way. It's a lot curlier and spirals at the top with 3a curls but the lower part has loose 2c waves. Only difference is I have fine hair.

Aime Hogue: Marissa! love loved your video. Going to try this on my husband's hair. Thanks for making this!

SweetPea 33: I have 2B hair when I put product in but it’s more of a 2A with no product. You’re hair is absolutely gorgeous! Keep doing what you’re doing, it’s working

dee: this was super helpful! we have very similar hair type

Spirited Gal: HAIR TWIN! Yes, so happy to have found your channel <3 The prob I get with using gel is that it makes my hair "stringy" and hard, no matter how many times I scrunch out the crunch. Any ideas?

Makayla Blattenberger: I am so excited because I’ve finally found something that looks like it will help my hair and its even better with the fact that me and your hair are so similar

Laetitia Chalmet: I’m so happy that I found your channel, because I have the exact type of hair !

Pippa Teeling: My hair is exactly like this this helped alot with my transition

Angelica H: Finally someone with my exact hair in texture AND hair type! You do your hair beautifully! Any way you can do a video on finger coiling all of your hair? I have done it before but it takes so much time and I don't remember if it worked--I think it did... All about curl definition over here lol... Lots of Love! -Angelica

Hailey: love your hair! to help with frizz i love using the ghost oil from verb. it's so light and smells amazing :) just make sure to wash your hands afterwards and be careful to not touch your face with it!

Niamh Woollard: Hi!! Such a helpful video & your hair is beautifulSo I have really thick hair I’ve been blow drying & straightening for years so it’s a frizzy undefined nightmare atm Ha but I’m hoping to get back to more natural curls! I’m finding tho when I let it air dry or attempt diffusing (without using any product) the top crown of my head is hardly curly, just very frizzy and almost weighed down compared to the rest lower down. And I’m finding my hair feels so much more course and dry when I let it air dry to when I straighten it. Was just wondering how could I get a more defined/less frizzy crown & softer feeling curls? I also have a massive problem with humidityit just expands and goes huge, which I wouldn’t mind if I could just get the curls back more xxx

Emily Kramer: I loved your video! I have the exact same mix of 2c and 3a! One question, can you do this method without a diffuser?

Shanti Shaharazade: I think you did an awesome job for your first vid! way to go goddess! <3

Teddy Meskers: Fangirling over here!! This is your first YT video but it feels like you are doing this for years, no awkwardness at all as you warned me for! Love the curls as always, definitely subscribed!

Evelyne Velez: Already so excited for this channel!!! I love your hair, im currently transitioning so its definetly been a battle because of how damaged my hair is! lol

Yana1981: Wauw! Your hair is amazing! i also have 2c/3a curls ( not on my profile photo ) but reálly damaged over 10 yrs of straithing just now i learn to love my curls and natural look. I wish i could have curls like yours about a few years from now! ps. what products are you using to style after washing?

Katy Canino: I'm glad you popped into my You Tube feed. I subscribed. I also have the same hair type as you. I was the type that grew up thinking that I had straight or wavy hair at least. Little did I know I had wavy to curly hair and I pretty much found out by accident because when your hair is curly, it wants to curl no matter what. So I really did not harness the power of my curls until after high school. That's when I started wearing gel and then mousse. That Paul Mitchell was amazing. Then, as my luck goes, that specific mousse that was so good for my hair, I couldn't find it anymore. Same happened with a line of shampoos and conditioners from V. Secret that was amazing for my hair- discontinued. Since then, I've been searching for the perfect products.

Vanessa Gerlach: Omg my hair is just like yours. My bottom hair is soooo straight sometimes a litte wavy but the top is super curly. I really have no idea why. Great video! keep up the great work:D

Beth Winslow: This was so helpful! Thank you!

Alyce Bagnath: I have a similar curl pattern and am transitioning! Please post a night time routine? And air drying (which is what I’m doing as I’m lazy to buy a diffuser haha) love your curls

jessica chico: I get my hair colored/highlighted and my curls seem straighter compared to when I was younger and have harder time keeping the frizz tamed .. but your hair looks so good I thought I was gonna have to give up coloring . How do you keep it so healthy?

Love Hard Fight Hard: Thank you! This video was so helpful, and you are so beautiful!! <3

Me America: Finally someone w my exact hair type! So many popular products weigh my hair down or just make it greasy (and still frizzy!! ). Even my hair underneath is pretty straight too. Looks totally disconnected from the rest of my hair when it dries. You have gorgeous hair I wish I had that Type of time tho especially since I cannot go more than 2 days without washing it. I’ve tried and tried to go longer but only results in dandruff and itching.

Ameerah McSweeney: I have the same hair type as yours and I have learned so much from this video.

Wari Edz: I’m so glad to find this after searching for so long. I have the same type of hair... Thank you!

Mal1emk: Yes omg we have a really similar hairstyle! Mine might be a bit curlier but i’m still a 3A

Morgan Veller: How long did it take you grow your hair out? My hair is at the awkward stage where it’s not too long and not too short but my dream is to get my hair as long as yours. We have the same exact hair and watching your videos has me so inspired to reach my hair goals!!

lara: we have exactly the same hair type! but I am currently in my transition phase so its not that curly curly... but at least now I know how it can look like with proper care, thanks

FruityMilky: Mines are a mixture of 2C to 3A all throughout. Mine hair is pretty fine too, so it is SO HARD to make sure that the curls don’t get blown everywhere

Rachel Broadbent: Saw the title and immediately subbed! Someone with my hair type your hair is beautiful!

The Four23: I feel like brushing through my wet hair completely ruins my curls Even with scrunching or finger coils I don't feel like they come back as strong. Have you ever experienced this?

Nardine Abdelsayed: The Denman brush can really help you get ringlets if you twist it at the end instead of going straight down :) I never knew I had ringlets until I started doing this

새끼고양이: wow our hair is exactly the same 2c/3a, practically straight on the bottom and spirals on the top. I can only use minimal product or my hair gets super weighed down easy because it's fine. I can only really use gels and light oils on my hair no creams :(
