*Friendly reminder that your frizzy hair is just as beautiful and you DON’T have to hide it, it’s natural for our hair to react to high levels of moisture in the air BUT we can also prevent a lot of that from happening and keep our hair as frizz-free as can be. So, let's make sure this doesn't happen again, make sure this doesn't happen again. Rain rain go away. It'S texture, tuesday. What'S good everybody welcome back to the channel, i am yamane gromel and today's video has been very highly requested for a very long time. Today'S gon na show you how important your styling routine is when it comes to high humidity rain and ultimately frizz, as always at the expense of me looking crazier than i am i'm going to show you what you should do in humidity versus what you should avoid Doing and yes, that means i'm doing a side by side, so you can truly see when i test these outside what i mean your styling routine matters. So if you are ready to shine seriously, mr sunshine, we could all use a little bit of you right now. Have no fear your main girl mel is here if you are new here, make sure you subscribe. If you like videos like this and without further ado, let's beat this frizz, and so it begins phase. One of this routine is the prep prepping, your hair, before your wash day, is so important and what's the best way to prep your hair before a rainy day. It'S actually checking the forecast, don't just go into your wash day, not thinking about what should i do and using you know any regular kind of shampoo and other products that you have, but it all starts with what you should do, which is anticipate for it to Precipitate now before i get in the shower and start washing my hair as like any wash day, i want to think about what my hair needs and if your ends are just dry and frizzy, because they've been out in the rain, and they just feel really really Rough and that's why you feel like you need a wash, but your scalp is not dirty. You may not need to use shampoo, or that is. You may not need to use a very cleansing shampoo when you go to wash your hair, don't just use any old stripping. Shampoo, that's in your shower! A good hair day starts with your shampoo and, if your shampoo from the get-go is too dry and too stripping, it's only going to make your hair even frizzier, because what you should do is use a more moisturizing shampoo or even a conditioning wash aka co-wash moisturizing. Slash conditioning cleansers and conditioners contain ingredients that are going to make your hair feel much softer and silkier and help to lay the frizz down and while we're here, washing quick little cleanser tip for you. If the cleanser is clear, it's probably more cleansing, whereas if your cleanser is more opaque and creamy, looking it's more conditioning or, alternatively, if you do have an oily scalp that needs a shampoo try, putting an oil on the lengths of your hair before you wash because This is going to help protect it from hyper fatigue and from getting even drier and rougher after your shampoo. Now after you have washed your hair, don't skip conditioner, never skip your conditioner, which will also help to treat our hair and prevent it from being so vulnerable. In humidity, where your hair will just want to absorb all of the moisture that it can from the air, because you didn't initially supply it into your hair seriously, that is the most important thing that i will be repeating throughout this video. If you do not put the moisture in right now right now now, then, when you step outside your hair will need to take all of the moisture from the atmosphere and do use any and all kinds of conditioner rinse out deep, conditioner leave-in conditioner. And if you didn't know, i did just share a recent video all about conditioner and how that works. So you can check out that video next, all right now that we've effectively cleansed and conditioned our hair, we're not going to stop right there. The last step to prepping our hair is using a leave-in conditioner leave-in conditioner is essential for everyone's hair type and according to your hair type, you want to use the right type of formula quick note as i get into these routines. Nothing is wrong with any of the products i'm using again. I want to emphasize there's a time and place for some of the products, but specifically i'm trying to show you the methods that you may want to avoid and the things that you may want to do and for anyone wondering this routine is also vegan and cruelty. Free, let's get it, let's get a queen, let's get a queen. So, for example, if you have really thick curly dry, porous hair using a light, leave-in conditioner that comes in a spray form that looks basically like water is not going to be as hydrating and as nourishing as a cream leaving conditioner, for example. That could also come in a spray, but you can see is a little bit thicker, as this will more effectively coat and condition your hair and start to act as that barrier between the humidity outside and don't forget the hair at the top of your roots as Well because they can get really frizzy too using the right type of product for your hair is very important, because if you get it right now, you won't have to restyle and refresh tomorrow and, as the days go on and part of that is using. The right amounts as well, typically, if you're using the right product, you don't even have to use as much and or you won't feel like you need to reach for more. I want you to remember that, as we move into phase two styling as we are styling, our curls, don't overly manipulate them, hence actually work with them. If you are thinking of doing a blowout think again and do make sure that you are using your products appropriately in very humid climates, where our hair can lose its shape, we need hold today if you are putting all of your trust into one curl cream or One gel to hold down the four. I will report you again again, i'm doing the most with rhyming. I don't care. I just want to do me and you'll regret that later as we style, i don't. I don't want you to put all of your eggs into one basket, especially if you're thinking of using a curl cream, because this will not be enough hold to hold down the four i mean you can try, as i have tried, but haven't you ever heard the Term teamwork makes the dream work. Rather, you should layer your products, hence why we are in phase one two out of three. Let me ask you: do you care about your hair and i don't wan na see one single strand, neglected, okay, ohana means family and family means. Not a single strand of hair gets left behind. Layering your product also goes hand in hand with layering your sections section off your hair, so you can really get in there. The beauty of layering is you're getting that extra bonus from your curl cream, especially since that's what your dry and porous hair will need from you now and then the other thing that you will need that you should absolutely be doing. Do use a strong hold gel or mousse. You want something. That'S going to make your hair a little bit. Crunchy as you are styling. Products that are going to give you hold are going to keep that definition in place. So don't be afraid you can get over that crunchy hair fear. I did too now, while using your product like a gel, it's also worthwhile going the extra mile and focusing in on those frizzy areas. For me, it's my temples, especially, and so i really smooth down the curl coat. It well and i even take some time to finger coil any of those frizzy areas, and especially the top of my head, which is going to be the most exposed. Don'T forget to pay attention to these details. Okay, like in here like these, are my little frise and so far, if you take a look at this application here on the do side, i've already separated and curled and manipulated and molded my hair to how i want it to be, as opposed to the doom Side on the don't side you can see i've defined my hair, i've clumped, my curls with my brush, thinking that i've done enough, but well you'll, see what happens once my hair dries speaking of, we need to dry, don't manipulate in any way shape or form sure You'Re not straightening out your hair, but even as you are using a blow dryer and diffuser. If you are really manipulating your strands with your hair as it is drying, you are also going to affect the way that the product sets. But, alternatively, what you can do over on the do side is use your blow dryer like a hood fan and hover around now, if you're worried about volume. While doing this, don't worry, there's ways around that. Remember we're looking for a strong hold. We need a lot of hole to keep the curls together and by playing with your hair, while it is drawing you're going to ruin all that hold. If there was any in your hair, you can grab a pick or a comb to help lift your roots, but avoid touching with your hands at all costs. Don'T use your blow dryer blowing up from the ends. Definitely don't be doing this if you're using high heat, because this makes the airflow blow against your cuticle, which could raise it and make your hair feel rough. Hence also lead to frizz, always angling, the blow dryer so that the airflow can go with the cuticle which will help to seal. It add shine and if you are short on time you can still use high heat by doing this method, because it's much more indirect heat and therefore you are keeping them intact. Then, when you think your hair is dry, think again, don't just stop there when there is still moisture in your hair. None of this dry, your hair, only until 80 nonsense. It is best to make sure that your hair is completely dry before going outside and if you're not sure, if it is feel it get in, there feel it, and if it feels cold, it's still a little damp. Bad things happen when we don't finish our hair properly, welcome to phase three, don't let your somewhat damp hair get exposed to humidity so soon, especially not without that extra protection. Remember we layer, because teamwork makes the dream work and the finishing product that you use is the one that makes the lasting difference so always do use a serum before going outside. This is also especially important if you have curl clumps to break up, and now, at this point you may be thinking. I don't see anything wrong with this side and it's true. This is really i mean it looks great right now. The only thing left to do is put these to the test, so i'm going to get dressed. Okay, now that i'm dressed appropriately, it's time for me to shut you out - and i do not want to take this vlog camera with me, because it will then get destroyed in this humidity. These hairs have been given the same treatment and you can see which one held up a little bit better. I want you to pay close attention to how my ends look. My hair looks more crazy on this side, not just because of the products but again because of the way i was drying my hair, because i really forced it to do something set it in place when it was dry, which is manipulating it unnatural to how my Hair would naturally fall. It inevitably could not hold up that shape when it was exposed to high humidity the water in the air broke. The hydrogen bonds in my hair, which made the curls want to reset reform, create a new shape, and that leaves you left with these like weird straggly ends and just a lot of inconsistencies, and also i mean, of course, my hair wanted to absorb tons of that Moisture because i didn't properly prep style and finish it, and we can see the obvious differences of when you do prep style and finish thoroughly efficiently properly. My hair is still soft and not rough because it didn't need to absorb a lot of the moisture in the air. My strands actually still have some hold from the product, which also kept curl shape in formation. Ultimately, both sides are beautiful. It'S just if what you're? Looking for is truly frizz free results. You now know what to do speaking of thumbs up. You know what else you can do. You can give this video a thumbs up if you found it helpful and if you have been new. This is the first time you're seeing this channel. We do a bunch of comparisons and more each and every texture, tuesday so subscribe. If you would like to see more and comment below what else you would like to see what other side-by-sides could be very interesting. If you are interested in more of the product details that i used, i will put them in the description box below down there. I'Ll put a little more detail about why this routine especially works for my hair type. These are products and a routine that works great for my hair, but the biggest lesson here is it's not about the products. Necessarily it's not just about the products. It'S about the technique, it's about the method and so the next time you're styling, your hair. I want you to hear me, say: prep style finish and don't you forget it. Thank you so much for watching and i am out peace. I actually wrote a song and this one's dedicated to everyone that has been caught in the rain. It'S raining, it's pouring the old. No, let's hold up. It'S raining. It'S pouring my wash day is morning the time i spent putting product, in my hand that poofed up during my walk on the morning, look at this. Thank you so much ow these things, this sweater sucks it pinches my arm hairs. It does. Did you experience that too, you shave your arms. No, i'm just like get your ass over here. Get your hairy ass arms over here. I'M not hearing, i'm not either, but we all are it's the bellas hairs. What you don't want to do than what you do want to do? What you don't, then you do don't do this, but then do this phase, one so don't just wing it bring it it's looking moist! No! I am so sorry, i'm so sorry. I didn't give a trigger warning for the word: moist moist hoist waste yourself, conditioner leave-in conditioner is essential for all mm-hmm. I heard it goes. Oh my god. I hope you can't see my pj pants back there. Those are my pjs, no mom, no mom. I need rinse pisces. Oh yes correct. How are you i was just about to make it steamy in here wow, it's cold out there there it is, i'm not expecting that wow. Even my face is moist. My goodness say: bye, bye,

Fabiola S. Mattei: This video is the gift that keeps on giving, from a curly gal in Puerto Rico. Love it and I learned so much!

Carol Clark: Thanks for taking the time to make this great video!! I’m 53 years old and have always had trouble styling my curls. With the help of your videos I’m making progress.

Stacey Petro: I started following you and improving my curls over the past year. However, I'm also letting my grey's come in with no cover up. I'm struggling adjusting to proper curl technique versus the effects of the greys. I'd love a video on adjusting to grey in curly hair.

Donna Blanton: Hi Mell! I absolutely love watching you and your seester evaluate and teach curly heads different techniques and products. I've learned so much, and love my denim brush and the detangler brush you showed in a different video. I literally laugh out loud, you are both also funny. I do have an unrelated question - I love the green/olive and the pink tank and see-through long sleeve coverup you wear in the DRUGSTORE CURLY HAIR PRODUCT BATTLE & REVIEW | Cantu vs SheaMoisture video. Can you please tell me where you bought it? I have to have it! Thanks in advance, and thanks for all you do for us.

Sasha Stone: I find that using both a leave in conditioner and curl cream weighs my hair down and the wash day results don’t last. So lately I’ve been using just a leave in and a mousse, which gives me super voluminous bouncy waves. Being in super humid Florida though, the frizz is real! I’ve been avoiding serums because I can’t seem to find one that doesn’t make my hair look greasy. What’s your favorite super light weight serum?

Charlotte Brandyberry: I can confirm these tips work for wavy hair! Tried them out today on a VERY humid, rainy day and my hair is smooth, shiny and gorgeous! Thanks, Mell!

Jeanette Castro: I love & appreciate your videos! As always, so much helpful information yet you make it so easy to understand & add your beautiful humor ✨ Thank you ! Happy to see yours guys channel grow Love you both, Mell & Amanda ✨

Deanna: Happy Texture Tuesday!!! My favorite day of the week!! So needed this!! it gets so humid here in fl so thank you!! Much love and happiness!!! Xoxo

Lana Rashid: hey mell can you do a routine for wavy hair on one side and curly on the other? it would really help me and other people to see what to do and what no to do based on our curl types?

Michelle Coneo: I needed this yesterday and completely missed it well at least I’ll be ready for the next rainy days!! Thank you Mel

Kennedi Crohn: Hey Mell, this was awesome, I’ll definitely be using these tips . I think it would be interesting if if you did a side-by-side comparison on how to refresh your hair properly. I haven’t figured out what I’m doing wrong when it comes to refreshing my hair. Keep up the amazing content

Mariana Rojo: Hey Mell! I would love to see a battle of the product lines within the same brand. Such as: Aveda- Botanical Repair vs. Damage Remedy. OR Be Curly vs. Nutriplenish. Something like that. What do you think? I love it when you get into the nitty-gritty of the products and list what they do, how to use/apply and different ways to use them. I love all that you and Manda do! Keep on keepin on! xoxo

Kenia Garcia: I love mel so much!!! She’s so informative yet playful & goofy

Ange the half blood princess: Omg thank you for being so specific!!! This is the advice I needed. I have like triple the amount of hair as you but frizz is my number 1 concern!

Anna Wright: I have been defusing for almost half of my life and I have been doing it wrong all along :O Thank you Mell for teaching me that! And about Serums, I never finish my hair, once it gets frizzy and huge I just pull it up into a big puffy ponytail haha! I am going to try some of these tips now! :)

Eif O: Great video as always Mel. Please please do your all time favorite hair products in all categories (shampoo, conditioner, leave in, cream, gel, scalp cleanser etc etc. I know you’ve talked about some different favorite products in different videos, but I really would love to have them all in one video and with your very best picks Second - when looking on products ;how do I see if it is a protein or moisture products in the ingredients? Lastly - I know you’ve covered some of this, but I still find I difficult finding out what products can be used together. For instance, I recently bought the Aveda curl enhancing lotion, and curlsmith curl defining styling soufflé.. but .. now when I have them and see the consistency I get confused if I should use these with gel or cream , together or alone? Sorry for all my stupid questions.. but maybe they could be some video ideas? Anyway, would love if you made videos on these

Lezlee Hudson: Your videos help me so much! Y’all are my go to! Also, your skin is looking so good!!

Stephanie Wright: I recently discovered your channel and I love it! You've helped me learn so much about what to do with my curly mess!

Erica F: Just what I need at the moment since it's been raining all day here in FL. Can't wait to try these tips out!! Thanks Mell!

Stefanie Morgan: You always create such practical and helpful content! Thank you so much for continuing to care for our hairs, especially in humidity ❤

Jessica Potempa: Lady, you explain curly hair in a way that makes sense like it has never before! Thank you! I would love to see a video on ways to style and temporarily put my frizzy curly hair up when doing physical work (like yard-comfy at home but still want to look cute for my bf or event-dressed up and need to still look on point setup without or with minimal restyling, etc.) Also, would love to see new or existing videos on how to prep my hair for sleep to keep it shaped and fresh for the next day.

potato pirate: I feel so proud of myself when I realize I'm already doing what Mell's telling me to. Like a good student.

Mimi Santano: Newly trying to embrace my natural curls! I'm having this weird thing where the topside of my hair is super curly and pretty ringlets, but the underside is very light waves/more straight-soft-smooth vibes :S I'm super confused by why they're so different and if there's a way I can make them more similar. Right now I'm using my denman and air drying (plus the usual products) cause I don't own a diffuser at my new place. Any advice is well appreciated! Love the videos and your wonderful community :)

Wanda Scholtens: I’m glad somebody finally touched on these points cause it’s a whole situation. Love it! ❤️

Alexia Berumen: This video could not have come at a BETTER TIME THANK YOU SO MUCH ♥️

my: Thank you sooo much for this, I really needed it❤ useful video as usual. Here in Italy the humidity sometimes is really too much to handle and this will surely help me

Janira Brion: So grateful for this video! Just in time for rainy season!

snowflakes215: Mell you & Amanda are beautiful! No matter what I try I just can’t get my hair to be frizzless and defined like yours. I can’t afford expensive products and don’t have a ton of time to style working full time with 2 kids and their activities. I am almost ready quit it all but I do enjoy your videos so thank you for what you do! ‍♀️

Minna Uyeda: My daughter’s July wedding (in Chicago) had me fretting what the heck to do with my hair. Now I won’t feel compelled to wear a bun. Thanks, Mell.

Manes by Mell: HAPPY TEXTURE TUESDAY FRIEND! Todays video challenge is: can you spot all of Mell's outfit changes? I hope you find this video helpful, at least more than my last (very old) humidity-proof routine which if you know, you KNOW lol! shhhh

Kenya Thibodeaux: you have saved me so much stress when it comes to doing my curly, bleached hair! thank you, Angel. you are God sent!!!!

shelley schneer: Hi Mel, I just love your u tube channel. You have really helped me redefine my curls. I recently bought the Dyson comb attachment for the Dyson hair dryer. I was hoping you could do a video on this product, and wonder how it can be used to create volume.

Rachelle Anne Gutierrez: This is perfect! Living in a tropical country that is forever humid, this is really just gold for me.

Μαριαννα Αθανασουλη: Very informing! Thank you Mel❤️ It would also be great to see some products with UV protection or hair sunscreens now that summer is near

Nora Zeid: Thank you for this Mell! I live in Dubai. For the longest time I had no idea what to do with my hair! (Humidity is crazy here). Turns out been doing all the donts in this video :')

Kyla Boutin: Thank you! I love these types of videos, always so helpful!

Mrs. B: FINALLY! I'm high porosity (naturally, no dyes or heat damage) and on top of that I live in Dominican Republic . We have humidity and high humidity. I don't know what a _dry_ climate feels like . To say that I struggle with my hair AND the weather is an understatement.

Chey Beauty: Always helping me out! Tysm Mel, and Amanda of course! You're the best! Xoxo

Wijdane Brouki: Mell you have no idea how much i love you ❤ thanks for making my curly hair journey and my day better

Yara Alameddine: Happy texture Tuesday!! I was waiting for this day! Mell I have a question, how do I keep the volume at the top of my hair throught the days, cuz its voluminous on the first day after I comb it off my scalp to style, but never the days after. Idk what to do. Thanks!!

Erin Marie: A thousand thank yous from this curly on the Sunshine Coast in Australia where it is regularly 90% humidity with a super high dew point, especially in summer. I have found some great products here (Clever Curl) which meet your 'do' criteria and really help with the frizz but I will 100% be implementing these techniques to step it up to the next level! The video I never knew I needed!

Pancakecupz: Thank you so much I just did your hair routine and my hair is so curly for the first time in months!!

Marta Castillo: This is EXACTLY what I need living in a tropical country yAY

Amanda C: You knew we needed you! I legitimately woke up to brillo pad hair the other morning thanks to the humidity levels. I went straight to my husband and announced to him that we are moving to Canada because I need to live next door to Mel! All he said was who's Mel? So clearly we're a go! Meet your future neighbor! Lol I may have to borrow a cup of conditioner some time! Btw...I can't move to Canada and I promise I'm not a stalker.

Sarah Homewood: This video is so helpful for the damp days here in England. Thank you x

Yasmine Moody: I definitely needed this video in my life because my hair is always frizzy

Marian Stangby: My hair is the humidity side after refreshing. I suck at refreshing my curls

emilytulip7: Mel, do you Denman your curls in the direction they want or do you "train" them to go the way you want? Even though I use the Denman brush I find they turn out wonky if they are pulled the opposite way they want

Tania Cordero Pérez-Rosas: I've just learn to things that I've been doing wrong and will correct now. For me a still struggle a little about how much product but I'm getting there. Thanks again for helping us with our gorgeous manes.

Vanessa Martinez: Hey Mell :) Could you do a video on low porosity hair products and styling tips? How do balance reducing frizz with products that will not weight the hair down? Thanks!

Ambar González: Loooove this tips!!!! I'm looking forward for videos of routines for the summer, since I live in Puerto Rico, and that's the only season we basically have

Ali Chl: hey there's something on my mind that i've been stressing about lately since i started my transition and i know i can trust ur word lol . I have low porosity hair and it doesn't feel dry but my curls definitely aren't as defined as they should be, but do have enough definition that makes them seem curly (if that makes sense lol) should i incorporate more moisture into my routine or should i keep a balance between moisture and protein? also should i use deep conditioners with protein? crossing my fingers you reply :)

BeccainHawaii: Yeah that is my problem. I live in a place ,( not Hawaii anymore) of high humidity and I ran out of mouse and gel last week and my hair would have no curls and frizzed out within a few hours. I looked at the humidity levels for the next week and it's between 80 and 95%, got some more gel today. However, I still just air dry. Some day I'll get a defuser. But I did finally get a silk cap.

evelyn lauritzen: hi mell!! i was wondering if you would recommend hair oils or serums that smell the best? i love a really good smelling hair oil and mine doesn’t have that much smell, thank you sm❤️❤️

free fall to mars: Hair question: I have curls/waves on the top of my head, but the bottom always gets flat and knotted. I always make sure to detangle it in the shower but it still gets knotted. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do to fix this. Does anyone know what I could do?

Mariam Sabra: This video is just in time!!!! Thanks Mell ❤❤❤

Giggledust: I'm hoping to get a curly perm soon, and these videos are so helpful!

Maha S: Ok but sometimes I’m lazy Mell or don’t have time my curls suffer and my entire week is ruined and yet the cycle repeats itself when I KNOW it’s wrong lol One thing that has helped is using the proper one and done styler like a moisturizing gel, and that’s made a world of a difference!! But what can a busy gal do when there’s not enough time?!

flying unicorn: happy texture tuesday & happy ramadan! well done mell & amanda ❤️ may i request tips for hijabi curlies? i always find such matted mess when i take off my hijab lol

Kirsten Sologaistoa: I definitely needed this. I live in Louisiana across the street from a bayou and the humidity kills my hair.

Blush the Borrowed Rib: Hey Mell Hey. My hair seems to *now* like the outside heat but hates a blow dryer (even on diffuser). That less serious shampoo has really worked for me. Since i wash at night I can work on a refresh routine in the morning to soften the gel & ease that sleep imprint in the back. MayBe section then because i really just cannot when it is wet & hot water is going while in the shower.

Ellen Meester: Hi Mell, I love your video's, you always make me laugh all the time. I want a video about refreshing your curls or what your night routine is. Do you use a silk pillowcase or do you do the donut-thing? Greetings from Europe!

Trish Ragsdale: I freaking love you!! You make me laugh! Yasssss this method really is legit!!

Paola Molina: Thanks for this! I am from Costa Rica, where humidity usually gets up to 90%

Aimee Mitchell: When @MANESBYMELL reads your mind about what info you need at exactly the time you need it!!! Curlyhair MASTER!

Saddie M: Exactly what I needed living in Sweden where it rains and is humid like all the time ❤️ Love this totally subscribing

Kaity Miller: So Mell, you would say that I, a fine haired curly, always should use a leave in? Or just in high humidity? And thank you so much for this video! It's perfect timing!!❤➿❤

Emma Mendez: I never have time to dry my hair. I just don't touch it as it dries. Thanks for sharing this tip as the summer humid weather is coming

Sakura 19: YOU LITERALLY SAVED MY LIFE BC MY HAIR GETS SO FRIZZY

annabel perez: Omg TY TY TY for this!!! Living in South, FL where it's hot & humid all day everyday i really needed this, felt like ya read my mind. So once again TY to you BOTH....also would you recommend i use a mousse & gel when styling or just a strong hold gel? Love ya ladies ☺️

Michelle Hashmi: hey mell!! please do a product review from a brand called Hairitage! it’s what I’m using currently on my curly hair journey and it can be found in Walmart. I would love to hear your thoughts on it, it claims to be a brand for all hair types. thanks <3

Melina Sica: Especially for Belgium this is a much needed video!!! Hopefully my curls will be grateful and will be nice with the frizz i really love your video’s ... every texturetuesday I learn more about my hair❤️
