Thanks to sustainable living, eco minimalism and zero waste living, I have much less to declutter than I otherwise would. My lifestyle is the result of tiny habits I've built from living a zero waste lifestyle for 5+ years. I include my thoughts on sustainably decluttering, making things from scratch and living like a minimalist. There are some sustainable habits that I love, some zero waste things I don't love so much and a few I regret. I hope you find this video helpful and don't make the same mistakes as I did! Always try to join a collective or local community.

I'Ve been on my curly journey for several years now, and i think i am finally getting to a point where i understand my curls, what they want and how they want to be washed. So today i'm going to be sharing with you, my sustainable well as sustainable as possible, curly, hair, routine and also talking to tyler from thrifts and tangles, because it's already, i feel like it's already hard enough. When you start, you know transitioning to curly, hair and learning what products work, and so once you figure that out and then it's like okay, but now i want them to be sustainable, a wonderful advocate of sustainable living and obviously beautiful, curly hair and a big. Thank you to squarespace for sponsoring today's video and always supporting my content, grab a cup of tea and, let's get into it good morning, friends. This has been a highly requested video for quite a long time. So i'm going to share with you my current hair care, routine or my wash day routine and how i style my curly hair. If you've been following me, you will know that for years i have been trying to get my curls back because of you know 10 years of straightening heat damage, dyeing it all the things that people do when they're 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and The list goes on, so i decided i wanted to have natural curly hair, because it's beautiful, let's be honest, and i haven't. I actually can't remember the last time i washed my hair. That'S how bad it is right now, so i am in desperate need of a wash. What i will say is the most important thing and the thing that made the biggest difference to the way my curls look was getting a curly girl, specific haircut. I went to a eco salon in east sussex in brighton called cuttlefish. I think i can't remember, but they had a specific curly girl, specialist or curly hair specialist there's a really great one in london as well in north london, called curl bar, and the reason why it's really important to get a specific curly haircut is because of the Way that they cut it, so they cut my hair dry, which made a massive difference and it made sure that when they cut each curl, they could see how it was going to sit afterwards, because if you cut curly hair wet, you have no idea what it's Going to look like when it's dry, it might some sides might bounce up they. These might be lower down all this kind of stuff. From my experience anyway, having a dry haircut has been much better for what my hair will eventually look like. I also hadn't had my hair cut for about two years, but i have never had so many compliments on the way that my hair looks since getting that haircut. So that, for me, is one of the most fundamental things in ensuring your curls look: okay, enough, rambling and let's go and wash my hair because my god doesn't need it okay. So it's taken a lot of trial and error, but here are the things that i am currently using. As you can see, my hair is, i love to get too dry and curly hair does not like to be dry, so the things that i'm currently using are the antique co-wash bar called curiosity. They also have a professor curl. I haven't yet tried this one, but this one is my favorite, because it's very moisturizing, then i'm still using the faith in nature, hair masks. I worked with them a couple of months ago and just to let you know, i'm still loving them. I also use this kind of head massager thing. It helps so much to remove build up. Okay, i'm also using a detangling brush. I learned about this from mains by mel and yeah, let's get into the shower, so of course the first thing i do is completely drench my hair and once i have wet it and it made sure it's completely soaked the whole way through then i start to Use my co-wash bar and it does say you only have to go sort of five or six times around your head, but i mean that's just not true. I go as much as i possibly can until i feel that my full scalp is covered after that. I then go immediately to my scalp massager. It really helps to remove build up and also just to stimulate and give you a bit of a bit of a head massage. I really love it after that. I wash my hair out and then i brush it and i brush it before i do my hair mask because well i just it just feels like it's easier. So then i go for my hair mask. I only use this every other week. I don't need a hair mask every single week and this one i take quite a lot and i'll leave it on for about five to ten minutes. Depending on how well i've been treating my hair okay post shower we're outside, i used to make the mistake of not styling my hair and putting products in immediately, so i'd wait and my hair would dry a little bit, and that is not what you want. You want it to still be really wet, and i have learned this from the curly girls. Unfortunately, i had a denman brush and i lost it and that was so good for creating volume, especially at the back, because that's a bit of a problem creating volume from the roots. So i'm just using okay, that's all i have i never ever brush or comb. My hair, when my hair is dry, the hairdresser was like. Never do that, so i don't. I personally haven't found better alternatives yet, but the reason why i'm still using the products that i used a few years ago is because i just want to use them up. I think it's completely wasteful to not use up what you already have and then just like buy new ones, so i am still using that gel that i bought from aveda like two years ago. It has lasted this long so far i found out that aveda are owned by maybe l'oreal or something or a company that i don't want to support. So when this is finished, i am not going to buy this again. I bought this when i was literally just getting into trying to make my hair nice and curly again. So i was a complete noob and i just watched what curly hair specialists were saying, who aren't necessarily thinking about the sustainability of the product as well. So that's why i went for that and i'm using a aveda be curly style prep. It'S like a moisturization and curl definition and again i'm only using this because it was in my mom's cupboard and she wasn't using it and it was going to waste. So i thought i'm going to try this first, i'm going to use it all up before even considering buying a new one. However, i am going to be on the lookout for something similar to this, but a more sustainable option and when i find it i'm going to try it out and i'll. Let you guys know if you're interested or if you have any recommendations, please let me know so, as i said, products are the one thing that i'm finding it more difficult to find a kind of more sustainable option, but that - and i i really do want to Find a uk one. Obviously, when i move to the us, then i want to find a us-based one. But what i love about atik, for example, with the bars, is that they were specifically designed for curly hair, and you can really tell it's one of the only bars that doesn't make my head itch and actually feels like it's moisturizing. So i'm gon na go with this first i have quite long hair, but my hair is um. It'S not very thick at all, so i'm just gon na go for about this much on on each side, so i literally just put through my hair. Remember, i'm not a curly specialist, i'm going to put all the curly people that i think you should follow down below. Also, at the end of this video we're going to be talking to tyler and tyler has much curlier slightly coilier hair than mine, so she'll be also sharing with you her recommendations for what she uses on her hair. So it's really important when we think about curly hairs. Curly hair is so different, depending on whose hair it is, and it's so important to consider that when we're thinking about this, because obviously my hair is thin and curly and it's going to be a completely different texture and delicacy to kinky and coily hair and less Curly hair than mine as well, okay, so after that, i literally then just put on the flax gel. Now a lot of you guys did say to me: oh, why don't you try making it yourself and i did try and it didn't go well, but i'm going to try it again. I just don't want to do it too many times and waste that much. You know, but with the flaxseed gel i actually put on quite a lot. I put on like that. Much on each side and mains by mel taught me to do the prayer hands. So i go down like this with the prayer hands all the way to the bottom, and then i just scrunch it up, and can you hear that that's the sound that you want and the scrunching up really helps my curls to actually form. So we just do the same on the other side, still quite a lot prayer hands gosh, my hair really is getting quite long and then we scrunch and then the last thing i like to do just at the front is to do some finger coiling. So i just do these front ones. I just finger coil them like that, just to separate some and to bring some really smaller ones together. That'S it! I don't use heat on my hair because i'm trying to still uh rescue my hair from all the years of damage, so i will see you when my hair is dry. However long that takes okay, we are back. My hair is dry, but it's a bit flat. So when i get to this stage, if you look closely, you can probably see a lot of the curls are ringletty but they're stuck together. So i want to go through and separate any curls that are clunked together, because otherwise it makes your hair look even thinner. So to have more volume, i just separate those curls really really gently and then we're going to shake them out and give them some proper volume. Okay. So whenever i shake my head, i always go from the bottom and i shake like this from the bottom. I shake like this and then i put my hair over into it so and then it gives it a lot more vol um, i'm not sure. If you can see, let's go somewhere else, so we can see it more fully. So just a couple more things is it's taken me about three or four years to get my curls back after all the abuse that i gave it, but it doesn't have to take that long. I just wasn't sure what i was doing, but, as you can see like the curl pattern has really come back. I'M also quite lucky that i don't have to use too many products to make my hair, like not super frizzy. If i don't use anything though, then you can definitely tell and it's very fluffy, but i do like the fluffy look, especially if you use a gel. I like to kind of smush and break that kind of cracky. Look. I don't use mousse, but i might try mousse, but i've only used mousse before and it has made it look bit cracky and because it is a um i don't know, i'm not sure how respectable those are. Anyway. If you have any other questions, please let me know, but for the next segment we're going to be talking to tyler from a thirst and tangles she's got a different kind of textured hair to me. So we're going to talk to her about the products that she uses and she has also created her own hair care, video that you guys can check out as well, which i will link in the description below so, let's head over to tyler. Okay, let's give tyler a call and see what she has to say about sustainable curly hair routines. Anyway, how are you i'm great, i'm so glad we were finally able to connect? Why don't we just get straight into like uh? What'S what are some of the best products that you have tried for? Curly hair yeah, some of the best products actually have them right here and i know you've tried them too. It'S the antique bars, i'm not sure. If you mentioned these in your video or not they're, so good, um, professor curl and curliocity, i think i mixed mine up, so i don't really know which one is actually the conditioner which one's the shampoo these two products, like specifically the conditioner i really like it, Provides me with really good slip, and i don't know if you've had this problem, but finding like curly hair sustainable products is so hard like it does nothing for my hair, usually like in the past. I'Ve tried sustainably, you know just sustainable hair products and sustainable bars, and it's just like my fingers get stuck i'm in the shower trying to detangle um. So i really really like those products i still haven't found like a deep conditioner or a cream or a gel that i've liked, like i tried the flaxseed gel, have you ever tried that i tried making it myself and failed, and but everyone said that it was Really great so i tried to persevere, but maybe i'll have to try some other style, but i eventually actually bought a really lightweight flaxseed style gel, but i bought it from aveda and i don't think that they are particularly ethical or sustainable. So once that's finished like i was actually hoping that you'd have a good recommendation for me or someone else will because yeah i want to yeah i've tried it. The diy didn't work for me at all yeah, i don't. I tried the diy and it was like it did nothing. It was just like watery and it had no hold i'm so yeah. If anyone who's watching has suggestions. That would be great because i i really do feel like um, i feel guilty, sometimes because if i do buy a product, that's not sustainable, but it works. For my hair, i'm, like you know i just wish they had a sustainable option for some of the products that you know used to work in the past like, for example, i my curls love, moose and like something about it. My curls just get bouncy defined like it loves it, and i haven't found a sustainable mousse at all. Have you found any? No, i remember when i was younger. I think my mum, who doesn't have as curly hair as me and my sister and she was trying desperately to find us some kind of product that would make our hair look nice and curly and not just wild and she bought us some mousse. But we never knew how much to put in so we'd always put it in and then it would just be like it would look brittle but like it would look like you could break it because we put way too much in so it's just crunchy yeah, but So i've never tried one that has actually worked, especially also, as you said, i i couldn't find uh necessarily someone who offered a sustainable like option or advice, and i've been very much slowly introducing products so yeah, because it's already, i feel like it's already hard enough. When you start, you know transitioning to curly, hair and learning what products work, and so once you figure that out and then it's like okay, but now i want them to be sustainable, that's even harder, but um one product. I really like they're. They use recycled plastic, um um for their bottles, but it's called wonder curl and they have a what's it called. It'S called the get set, hair jelly and it's like a very watery consistency. I actually ran out, so i don't have it to show. But it's like a watery consistency, so it's not quite a gel, it's like kind of light, and that makes my hair super defined so um because i use recycled plastic. I still would like to find a more sustainable option, but the product works really well and actually um. I have a curl, i don't know what you call a curl stylist and she recommended that product to me and when i use that curl like right now, my curls are kind of like a little more on the frizzy side and, like my hair, is like a Little bit bigger, which i like, but when i use that product my hair, just like kind of shrivels up and shrinks, and it lasts for so long like i can get like seven days out of the curls before i have to like. Actually, you know throw it up in a bun like it's very defined curls for a long time, god seven days, i'm impressed with that one of my favorite actually deep conditioners. I don't think you have this in the us, but it's called faith in nature with, but again they use recycled plastic. So they still come in like a a tub so and there's only so many times, you can reuse those kinds of things, because you don't want your house to just get like cluttered with reusable pots that you've reused. But do you think, though, that you could get a good, solid conditioning bar like do you think you could get a good one? That would like really work, i hope so. Um, honestly, i think, like i think, conditioner bars for me work great as just as a conditioner like i specifically use my conditioner bars as leave-in conditioners, because i get yeah like i literally i don't wash it out. I like put it in um and just leave it because it makes my curls a little bit more defined, but i feel like if i'm looking for, like a deep conditioner of some sort. I need something. That'S actually like a liquid, like, i don't think the bar form. Yes, the bar. It provides good slip and you know it lathers up in the hair and like builds up in the hair, and you can kind of see the product once you start like moving it around in your hair, but there's something about having like a liquid and letting it Sit in your hair for 20 minutes or, however long they recommend um. That really helps, and i feel like people do the diy thing for the hair right like you could do like avocado mask and i think people do like mayo masks, but that stuff, i feel like i'm, not a diy person when it comes to hair products at All um i have tried here. I have it right here, plain products: they have a conditioner um and it comes in aluminum. So it's like really nice, i'm and this one i'll i'll use kind of as a deep conditioner. But it's it's a little too light. For me, like, i need something heavier, so i am, i just think like, for example, there's a product. I love, that's not sustainable, it's called texture id and they have um a deep conditioner mask and i just wish they would switch to more sustainable packaging. I'M like it's that simple, but i know it can be costly and some companies aren't concerned about prioritizing sustainability at this point in time, but i know - and it feels like for curly hair products when it comes to sustainability. They'Re sort of they've been on the back burner and i feel like it's only recently that we have a good, shampoo bar and a good co-wash bar. It'S like: how long are we going to have to wait for a good gel or something that's in a sustainable package or good? Do you use any um like curl cream at all, um? I don't. I haven't found a sustainable curl cream that i like, but i did just buy one and i might feature it in my video if it comes in time um, but it's called um consciously consciously curly, co, um and so they're handcrafted in small batches, they're cruelty, free Vegan non-toxic and it's all like clean ingredients um, but i actually bought a cream from them and a gel from them. So i'm hoping like fingers crossed that it works, because i honestly normally like for my before i started switching to more sustainable products. My hair um. I would you know shampoo, conditioner or shampoo, deep conditioner and then apply a cream and then apply a gel and then my you know my hair looks the best it ever does. But now because i haven't found a gel or a cream, i literally just shampoo condition and leave it as leave-in, and so my curls are more frizzy than i would like. So i haven't found anything companies we need more. We need the whole shebang like we need. I would love a mousse that comes in aluminum packaging. I would love you know, i'm hoping that uh, i don't. I can't. I keep messing up the name consciously curling, i'm hoping those products work. Oh there's there is a shampoo bar and conditioner bar. That works really really well and actually makes my hair kind of shrivel up. It'S called humvee organics. Have you heard of them? Do you guys have that? Where you are, i feel like with um the humvee or humvee organics products. I don't necessarily need anything else. I can just use that and then my curls are like my problem is battling frizz and getting definition, and so i feel like that product. It left my hair kind of like soft, but defined and bouncy like it was really it. Let me out here. Let me show you a picture: it's like oh wow right, so you can kind of see it's like super defined, and that was the. I think that was date like my wash day curls. But that's all i'm like until you find a combination of like shampoo bar and conditioner bar. That actually does it all. Like does all the things the cream and jelly should do it's like. We don't really have a lot of options which is kind of sad, because i i struggle with, i mean only a little bit of frizz, but mostly it gets a bit flat. So i'm trying to be like i want the volume, and so i try to like get it big, but then sometimes it just yeah it's not as not as voluminous as you want. And then, if you go too much, then it gets a bit too frizzy. It'S just it's a minefield, but yeah, as you said, we need more things. We need a mousse, we need a gel. I can't believe how much of an impact that having a haircut can make. Especially, do you go to a particular person? That'S like a curly specialist. Yes, man, she literally was a game changer and in la to get a curly cut. It'S like usually 300, maybe 400, like it's so expensive here for just a cut. What isn't that crazy? That is, is it like some celebrity haircut or something? I think i think that is a lot of the people are like in hollywood and they cut celebrities hairs. But it's i don't know if it's a celebrity cut, but they definitely are like we're charging this much because we work with celebrities. But it's crazy because when i would live in vegas like haircuts were more reasonable, but it's hard to. I don't know. If you have that problem, it's hard to find someone who can cut curly hair, like a lot of people, will want to straighten the hair to then cut it yeah. I have actually only ever had one proper curly haircut, and that was the one that i had recently and they cut my hair completely dry and i had to turn up with it freshly washed, but they were so specific. They were like don't put a hairband in your hair. Don'T even put sunglasses on your hair. Don'T put a hat on, don't touch your hair yeah, no products in your hair, nothing, the temperamentality of curly hair, is so annoying before this video gets too long. I am going to end it here, so if you want to see the full version, then you can head over to my patreon and watch the hour-long chat that me and tyler had all about sustainable curly hair. Now don't forget to go and check out tyler's video, because she's also shared exactly what she uses and hopefully, if consciously curly co-products arrive, she will share a review of them too. Sustainably Vegan: If you'd like a blog post version here's the link: https://sustainablyvegan.org/blog/sustainable-curly-hair-routine

Ronja Haberfelner: Can we talk about a routine for the days after washing? What do you do through the night and how do you style it the next morning? I found the perfect routine, but its never nice the day after having washed my hair...

Mary Charlebois: TIP: To make my shampoo/conditioner bars last longer, I only put them in the shower when I’m actually in the shower. My partner does his own shampoo thing, and I find that when the shampoo bars are in a wet environment they soften and erode away quickly. When the shampoo bars dry out in between uses, they last a lot longer. Ⓜ️ary‍♀️

Sustainably Vegan: Hey friends! Today's video is all about curly hair and sustainable hair care, but of course all curly hair is different so I got chatting to my friend Tyler to give you another perspective! Hope you enjoy xx

Sophie Charpentier: I would be curious on the "long term" routine. What do you do on the day after the wash? And the day after? How often do you wash?

Lydia Schiller: Hey Immy, I really enjoyed the video! I'm a wavy-curly girl and do have a recommendation for you: Flora and Curl! They're black owned and from the UK and I love their entire styling line. Maybe it's something you could try :)

Lesly Valencia: Thank you for this video! I´m a curly girl. Tried everything. I like natural products and DIY. Still struggling with the plastic tho. I want to try the shampoo bar when i run out of my products that i have now. Your curls looks beautiful. I´ve been following you for years and its such a big difference. You did good :D

Thrifts and Tangles: Your curls are so beautiful! I loved chatting about all things curly hair with you!

Ella O: LUSH finally has an Afro (& Curly) Hair Care section! Their curl creme is called Curl Power, and it comes in a recycled pot that you can return to the shop once it's empty (they give you a 50p discount and recycle it again). I think I have similar hair to you, and it works really well on my curls. P.S. I'd recommend brushing you hair when there's conditioner in it, so the brush slips through rather than snags. Also, you can reduce frizz by putting a tiny bit of oil on your fingers when separating the curls and fluffing it. Your curls look beautiful though, so your routine must be working, just thought I'd share tips that work for me xxx

Lois Weidenbach: They're owned by Estee Lauder. When I discovered that I stopped buying it. Also I became allergic to almost everything they sell. This caused me to look at the ingredients and that's when I found out who owned it. I'm not much of a fan of these big corporations who try to look green and sustainable by owning "natural" product lines.

JHÁNNEU: Love this!!! Your curls always look so beautiful :)

Ashes Feu: I love seeing the evolution of your hair over the course of your channel! Your hair is so beautiful

nanashimara: I’m obsessed with Ethique for my whole body, but I also have curly hair. The Frizz Wrangler shampoo and Guardian conditioner also work great for me in addition to the curl line. I can’t just cowash. A lot of their products have essential oils but at least they are low on the ingredient list and they offer unscented options. I’m also still searching for sustainable curl products for definition.

Cathy Lynn Pietranton: Hi Immy your hair looks amazing.❤

Wooly Puffin: Paul Mitchel has just launched a more sustainable line out which is vegan and cruelty free. My hair is very healthy since using his products!

Katherine P: My hair has gotten a lot curlier since I switched to bar shampoo and conditioner. Now I'm really considering treating it better to try to bring the curls out more. It always seemed like so much work when I've looked into it before, but your video really made it seem doable on a regular basis.

fibromiteready2fight: Ecoslay has bigger quantities of product than most brands than most (which means less packaging waste cause it lasts longer and you buy less), it’s natural and a small black owned brand, and they package the ingredients in thin squeezy like bags, which uses up less plastic. You can buy glass gars from them if you want to store it in something.

Rosa Goldman: If you haven't tried HiBAR -- I love their shampoo/conditioner bars for curly hair, and they are US based so could be a good option for after your move. The conditioner in particular I love, and is great as a leave-in too.

Aime Maggie: Your hair looks amazing. Curly hair is such a blessing and a curse.

Ashleigh: I’ve been using BySelina shampoo and conditioner cause I was nervous to use a bar! They’re packaged in aluminium bottles so very easily recyclable and have sustainable ingredients A bit pricey but the I’ve only had to buy two bottles of conditioner and one shampoo since March!

Sonja Sch: Great video! I am following an german sustainable youtuber with very girly hair. She has a tutorial on YouTube where she uses pure shea butter. This seemed to work very well for her.

Kristen Nicole: Your curls are gorgeous!! Love your hair :)

Uapa500: Me moving my head accordingly when you put the gel on your hair As for the mousse, hairdresser told me they tend to make hair drier

GeeklingNo1: Bar shampoo has so far been the best I've used. I've tried a small brand that I found at the beach and ethique's bar and I wouldn't go back to normal shampoos again that's how good they are. I'm kinda afraid to try out a conditioner bar bc of how needy my curls are but im excited to buy ethique's curly hair trial pack and see how it goes!

Jessica Klingler: It’s nearly impossible for me to find sustainable products that I can use and work for my hair. Partly because I also have to make sure there’s nothing with nuts in the products because I’m deathly allergic. You’d be surprised how many sustainable products I can’t use because I have a nut allergy ☹️

Hannah Galloon: Also Immy I would really really recommend brushing your hair with conditioner ( or a hair mask) it will really reduce breakage, I could literally hear it in that clip of you brushing! And thank you for including different types of curly hair- my curl type is super similar to yours but my actual hair texture/needs are probably more similar to tyler x

Sarah Ebersole: Whenever you're back in the US cult + king has very nice refillable styling products! Tonik and Jelly are my favorite vegan and cruelty free products from them!

Jessica Santos: Actually, recycled plastic packaging is one of the best options for sustainability! It's the equivalent of buying secondhand clothes, but even better! We want more companies to start using recycled plastic, so that they will stop making virgin plastic. As long as we as consumers are making sure it keeps getting recycled, that's one of the best options.

Angela Matthews: Your curls are amazing Immy! I'd love to find a sustainable flax gel in the UK that i don't have to make. currently just wash with faith in nature conditioner. got waves, rather than curls, though. they never last beyond 2 days and after that i just CBA!

Jana Hudak: noticed that ethique has some concentrates so people can mix their own liquid shampoo/ conditioners and it seems they may be a bit more economical than the bars (depending on usage). wondering if you have tried those?

Cici Jacobino Isenia: Thank you for this video. It has always been a struggle for me to find sustainable hair products that work for my hair. My hair does not like conditioner bars, as a have thick and long hair. At this moment I make all of my hair products from scratch myself, from shampoo bar, to my leave-in conditioner and gel. That’s the only thing that has worked for me unfortunately.

Lydia Joy Stuart: I happened to stumble upon a good curly shampoo that happened to be really one of the local bulk shampoo options. And it made my curls SO AMAZING! My mom (my hair critic) said that my curls were fantastic. I read the reviews and many other people said the same thing. Sadly now I can't buy locally anymore cuz the shop closed so i ordered a very large amount from the original online store. Also flax seed gel didn't work for me. It really did hold and that was great but my hair is dirty blonde but for some reason it made my hair look wet and greasy. So yeah my mom hated that so I stopped using that

sharon velandia: Vida bars are amazing! Best shampoo and conditioner bar I have found. For stylers I've heard Eva NYC came up with sustainable packaging, but I don't really know if it is an ethical company.

Hannah Galloon: There are a lot of curly hairstylists who cut hair when wet- if that happens to you don't be worried because 9 time out of 10 that person is very experienced in wet cuts! Some will say don't do it dry because it might be uneven next time you wash it, some will say don't do it wet because it will dry uneven but if they are a good curly specialist they will take the time to get to know your texture and how it will dry once wet :)

TheCaroline0991: You can melt the conditioner bar and have a hot oil treatment for your hair. Then you can also add other oils to it. If you use colder air to dry your hair and you do it with your head down, you should be able to have more volume.

Taylor Martin: I love a curly hair cut! I will say, I prefer a Ouidad cut (wet cut) to a dry cut because my curls tend to be all over the place and they need to be forced into some sort of uniformity.

Plant Kitchen: Could you do a sustainable make up video? your skin looks so healthy by the way!

Not at this time: With flaxseed gel (homemade) add a little grape seed oil and store in fridge. It will last longer

Amanda Chapman: I find it strange that NO sustainable YouTuber has ever heard of Davines. They are B Corp, 1% for the planet, biodegradable, sulphate/paraben/cruelty free. They have shampoo bars and a whole line dedicated to curly girls. They are part of the Slow Food movement and carbon offset every process. Curl building serum is the best product!

Catherine McBride: The only products I've found that work for my hair is Devacurl. I reuse the pump bottles for crafts with my son (they hold paint really well).

Roberta Ramos: You did exactly the sound that a aerosol mouse do loved the tips.

Zoe Lilibet: Noughty Hair is trying to be more sustainable, and my hair is loving it

Martiy: Lush made a curly hair line and I quite like the solid shampoo and the conditioner, the only thing that misses is gel.

Erène: Jim + Henry is my absolute favourite hair care brand, its black woman-owned and based out of Birmingham and you can refill some of their products at zero waste stores around the country. I will say that it's quite pricey, but it is literally the best stuff I've ever put in my hair.

Marcela Diaz: The difference is HUGE! Your hair is absolutely GORGEOUS But also shout out yo your beautiful face and those nails!

Nadine Rich: Here from Thrifts and Tangles and I love your channel! Those bars sound amazing :)

Mary Charlebois: To anybody who reads this… come join the Live Chat and watch the video with a bunch of us together as it Premieres. It’s so much fun!! Where else can you chat with Immy and people from all over the world? It’s the coolest thing… see you there. (If you missed the Live Chat/Premiere today, maybe we’ll see you in the next one?) Ⓜ️ary

Ally: So much passion

loin-ess: In the US ethique sells a concentrate that turns into a liquid conditioner! Its such a curl saver

natalie bush: I love love love jojoba oil for my hair ☺️ it's been a game changer but my hair tends to be in the dry side and is more poofy/less defined than yours as well. The bonus is I use jojoba for all over moisture too! So if it doesn't work for hair you can use it anywhere else too thank you for this video!! As always it's such a great watch ✨

Taylor Martin: I love a curly hair cut! I will say, I prefer a Ouidad cut (wet cut) to a dry cut because my curls tend to be all over the place and they need to be forced into some sort of uniformity.

the-book-devourer: Ecoslay - US based, all their products are refillable and they cover shampoo, deep conditioner, styler, etc! Vidabars - US based, Latinx owned, shampoo and conditioner bars for curly girls!

Leposava Bouvier: A drugstore chain in Germany has their shaving foam and face wash mousse in a pump bottle. You shake the bottle and hear the water become foam, but also without shaking it comes out like a mousse. Saw a similar thing in a hand soap from FA (not a sustainable or vegan brand), idk if they're international? I hope either didn't patent it so other brands can start using the technique.

Rosie Pena: I've been using Shea Moisture for years and just recently noticed on the bottle that they are a B certified corporation.

Alex McGinness: Does the curly girl method work for people with more wavy hair? My hair isn’t straight but it doesn’t fully coil either. That said I can totally get big waves when I scrunch my hair. I honestly have no clue if it’d work for me or not. ‍♀️

Anna Broomfield: By Selina is a great UK based small business making curly products. She has cleansers, conditioners and 2 different gels in plastic free packaging, and when you need a new one you can choose a refill option so you don't have to buy a new pump each time. I love the gel! Definitely recommend

Georgia Walker: I needed this so much

Ranee Haywood: Thank you for the video! Could you please share the information on your shampoo bar and where to get it? Thank you so much!

Zouari Hana: Your hair looks similar to my hair haha I wear hijab and have curly hair and it is difficult to find content for hijab people i like to care for my hair even if I wear hijab and especially caring for curls is a bit a challenge Love the video ❤❤

andy dutton: I have real fine, straight hair. If I make a spray with salt and apple cider vinegar it works. A conditioner bar would be too much.

Patricia DuBose: Etsy has a premade flaxseed gel in an aluminum bottle, and all of the shipping is carbon offset

Sylvia Mena: Eva nyc is partnered with terracycle and I’m so happy that I can use new products and recycle them

Priscilla Kleven: Oh my goodness, y'all are both doing flaxseed hairgel wrong!! Mine is goopy, not liquidy! I've never had it fail, but here's the videos I've based mine off of - Fairyland Cottage particularly is a sustainability/slow living channel and I love her, and this is how I first heard about it! If you haven't heard of her yet you'll love her ENTIRE channel!! She's in Ireland!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWkbSlATxmM&t=72s The second video was helpful just in terms of the way she heated it, it worked better for me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=os0gI1vx1tw&t=190s

T. B.: Do you have any suggestions for curly hair care when you have very hard water? My hair will barely curl anymore and is always flat and limp, and I have to wash it 4x as often ever since I moved somewhere with very hard water last year. I miss my curls

L B: Buying salon sized has helped with the hair gel I like.

joice brito nascimento: Jojoba oil is very good for the hair.

Regan Standlick: where can you get the brush or something similar?

Alina Belousova: On Aveda's website it says that their curly products are cruelty free, vegan, have 100% wind and solar powered manufacturing process, 100% recyclable bottles, and 90% naturally derived. Product manufacturing is powered by Aveda’s solar array and/or wind energy through renewable energy credits and carbon offsets. Striving to achieve a Silver Zero Waste to Landfill certification using the UL scheme by end of 2021 at our primary manufacturing facility. Pioneered 100% post-consumer recycled PET packaging in beauty. Hair care is 90% naturally derived on average using the ISO standard. From plants, non-petroleum minerals or water. Sounds sustainable to me.

Ally: Lovely nails

Helena S.: Maybe look up some flaxseed gel tutorials with ‚fool proof‘ in the description, it‘s what helped me to work it out the right way

Mary Charlebois: If it’s true that our hair defines us… then you, Immy, are a pert and sassy regal lioness (Rawr) and I am a suave silver-tipped fox … haha! Immy you are the Queen of the Curly Coiffure!! Thank-you to you and Tyler for sharing all your trade secrets here in this ‘Curly Hair Strategies 101’ video with us today. I loved it!! Ⓜ️ary‍♀️

Ana Sufitchi: Maybe you should look into no sulfates fast hair growth shampoo.

Imaginer: You should do a collab with vegan buooty.

Shelley MItchell: where did you get the scalp massager from please

ale150184r: I have straight hair, but you were talking about flax seed gel? Maybe chia gel would work??

Sustainably Vegan: Check out Tyler's video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ySU2_HgvwA

Tiyana L.: Try using Ecoslay

HPB: Oh that squelch noise . That came through very loud

Andrea Karin Nelson: EcoSlay!

Linden Hawthorn: Damn, that is pretty curly for a white girl, do you have some African ancestry?
