Christel here from Anita here kusa, so my client today came in with some um unhappy news with her. Here she got a silk press a while back and of course you can clearly tell her curl pattern is definitely different. She does have coarse pattern or coarse textured hair. Her ends are more straight and her roots are in the natural form. So, of course, you know that you cannot revive the curl pattern, but what we're going to do is start by strengthening the hair that she does have, because she did have a little bit of shedding. But when I went to do her shampoo, I noticed that she had a lot of buildup on her hair. It was very oily, so what I did was did a dry shampoo using our herbal detox shampoo first just to get a lot of that buildup in oil off the scalp. Now I know a lot of you are like wait. Wait wait, wait, you're, removing the oil you're, removing the oil before you do a protein, because that's exactly what we're about to do is a protein treatment on her, but you don't want the hair to be heavy and have residual products or build up on the hair. The goal is to have the hair, nice and clean. It doesn't necessarily need to be a hundred percent squeaky dried out clean, but you don't want to have a lot of oil on the hair from the beginning. That is just going to make the hair even more heavy, because we have to moisturize, then protein and then moisturize or hydrate again, so that is just an added layer of moisture and dirt and build-up right. Okay, so now we're doing our moisture, ELT moisturizing shampoo, on her hair. The reason why we're doing and moisturizing shampoo first after the herbal detox is because, when you are doing a protein treatment, you want to start with hydration or moisture, and you also want to end with hydration or moisture. While protein is an amazing amazing thing for the hair, it does wonders for the hair. Protein is also one of those things where it is very drying to the follicle. So there is the reason why we are starting with a moisture, äôt, shampoo first and then my third shampoo is actually the Hydra strength. Shampoo, you don't have to always do a third shampoo, but for her here I did because I could clearly tell that her hair really needed some real TLC and I wanted a hint of that lavender. I wanted that nice moisture and softness in her hair, so that is the reason why I used the Hydra strength last and because I also wanted an equal balance of hydration and moisture at the same time. So with our elite super reconstruction system, it is a two-part system, guys I had to get the soap out of the sink. It was driving me nuts and if I didn't get out of the sink, I just couldn't function so anyway, with the elite super reconstruction system. It is a two-part system, Part A and Part B. So what we did was we went ahead and did her shampoo process. First, you were going to towel dry, the hair, it doesn't need to be like dry dry, just need to be towel dry and then you will apply Part A sparingly over the entire head from root to ends. Now I didn't use a lot I use. Maybe quarter of a cup maybe less than that, and then she went under the dryer without a processing cap for 15 to 25 minutes, depending on the density of your hair, okay. So what I'm doing now is, even though it is a protein treatment conditioner. I am still rinsing with warm water, because I have one more step, so I do use warm or kind of lukewarm water when it comes time for rinsing and then we use Part B after Part A is rinsed out, which is our replenishing conditioner to help rehydrate. The hair - this is a very important step that a lot of people miss okay. So this is not a step that you want to miss. I put a processing cap on her head and then I put her under the dryer for about 10 minutes now immediately out of the dryer, I am able to start detangling her hair with the replenish conditioner still on her hair. So you can tell it. Has a nice slip to it, it gives the hair this amazing moisture feeling, but not very, very heavy, and you do want to make sure that you detangle the hair at this point of the process and then you are going to now rinse with cool water. So this is my final conditioner and the cool water rinse is when I do it. This is when I do it here. Sorry so once you've rinse with cool water, thoroughly make sure you're not leaving any product in the hair, that's very important, then we go ahead and towel dry, the hair again and we follow it with our elite hydration and strength leave-in spray. And then I twist her up into four, maybe five pieces, because I want her to go under the dryer to dry under diffused heat. I don't like to blow dry wet hair. So what I do is detangle the hair again and I parted in two sections and just rope twisted into some really big rope, twists kind of like the ones that your mom used to give you. When you were going to school. Okay, it doesn't have to be neat, it doesn't have to be pretty. You just want to make sure that you give the hair natural elongation and, when I say natural elongation, without using a heat tool. If you allow the hair to stretch routes under the dryer, you've done bulk a bulk of the work and then when the client is about 70 percent dry or your hair is about 70 percent dry. At that point, you can go section by section and blow-dry. The hair, so she goes under the dryer for about 20 to 30 minutes, and then we go back and now it was time to dry her. So I did go ahead and already will drive her hair out and then I'm doing the soap rest process. So as we were speaking, she informed me that when she got her last soap rest, she just noticed that there were the hair was just. It was not the same as when she started she's already at the point where she knows that her curl pattern won't return to the original curl pattern, but she decided that she wanted to silk it and then get a majority of it cut into a what not Even majority she wanted it cut into a bomb. So that's what we did after soaking her. I am a firm believer in no more than one to two passes. The max I do not do multiple passes over the hair and your tool will also be the depict leader depicting factor of how many passes you have to do, and the size of the section that you use so make sure you're using good tools for stuff. Like this, the tool that I'm using is the h2 Pro one-inch titanium iron, and then we went ahead and did her bob cut as you guys. I love my baby Liz clipper. So I owe those people where I will start my bobs with the clipper. It'S a lot easier for me and a lot quicker. But if you are not comfortable, definitely use your shears. But I always start with my clipper for my guide and then I go back through and start cleaning it up with my shears and giving some dimension or some texture. Now her hair texture is still coarse. So that means that her hair is not. You know fine, medium and coarse, textured, hair, coarse textured, hair or any textured hair is measured by the diameter of the actual strand right. So for her I can actually count her strands. That'S how I know that she has coarse textured hair. You can feel the texture of the hair when you roll it in between your fingers. It feels very calm. I don't want to say hard like crazy hard, but it feels very firm and also her hair was, you can tell it. Was heat damaged, I'm just gon na say it that way it was heat damaged, and you know the only way for her to get a true hair cut, of course was for us to go ahead and do it so press and I know it's kind of redundant, But at the same time I couldn't cut her until she was straight, and I tell you guys this all the time. If you are not going to wear your hair, curly forever do not get curly cuts. That is very important, so we went ahead and curled her up. I did continue using my titanium iron, but here's the kicker. I am doing extremely large sections - okay, and I also put a little bit of our first hammer and shine serum on her hair, which does serve as a heat protectant as well as a science serum, and I use a little bit of Sebastian shaper to help seal. The cuticle, so I'm not overworking the cuticle or the follicle as I am trying to style it. That is also a common mistake that is made because you're not sealing the cuticle when you are setting and you automatically assume the hair still frizzy and you keep going over and over and over and over and over again. So you want to make sure you maintain pressure on your iron from root to end and that will allow that cuticle to lay and close wheels really nicely and be really really shiny without any additional work. So that was a pro tip for you guys. So, at the end of the service, well, as I was actually soaking her, I did notice that she had some breakage and honestly, where the breakage was is exactly at the line of demarcation between the heat damaged, hair and her natural hair. So I can clearly tell that some extremely high temps were being used for her, so press, and that is most likely. The reason why she ended up having her curl pattern change in just one press, so you guys be careful. Be careful be careful when you are getting your presses, don't be afraid to ask questions. You know it's okay, to ask questions. If your status is a graffiti, when you ask questions, then you probably need to choose a new things. Anyhow, all of the products that you guys heard me mention is available by going to elite hair care usa.com, and you can save an additional 15 % by using code. Youtube' Lyle, you tbe all one word. It don't forget to subscribe to my channel if you're new and thumbs up this video by telling me and also telling me how what you thought there we go. Have you ever experienced any heat damage? If you have, please also comment and tell us what you did:

Myrna ANDRE: Ok so she has damage from silk press and got another one?

s_hadiyah: I had heat damage from a sew in. I'm natural and had to flat iron my leave out pretty often. I just grew the damage until it was at a length I felt comfortable cutting.

Virtuous Me: Awwww...so sad.....I hate when I see people lose their curl pattern. Main reason I'm scared to get a silk press.

Royalty bboc: Looks to me like her hair has been neglected she had really bad split ends and needed a good trim months ago...so some stylist just silk pressed pass all of those split ends....smh...you did an amazing job...it looks great

Judy Walker: I had heat damage from a stylist, I used a conditioning treatment from Sally's called CPR by Sheenique. I didn't go back to that person. I have relaxed hair, my hair didn't require that much heat

cupcakeangel365: My worst nightmare! I'm glad shes happy with her new hairstyle now.

Dwina A.L.: It is beautiful and thick, at first I thought you could of kept some of the length but seeing the final results it is gorgeous. Well done, hope you gave her tips on how to avoid heat damage

LaToya Hayes: After a few yrs hard work of growing my natural hair, I went for a silk press at a salon. To make a long story longer. My hair broke off very soon afterwards* Never again*******

chasturner84: Dealing with heat damage now. I had a stylist who straightened my hair for a trim in November and now my entire crown is wavy. It was extremely coily prior to the service. I will be seeing a new stylist next week.

Beauty Essentials: You did a great job with revitalizing her hair. You could tell she needed a lot done to fix the heat damage.

Portia P: When you started I saw that her ends were "dead and fried". My ends were the same way back in 2017. Before I got frustrated and went to the barber and had my hair cut down to about a half inch. Never had such short hair before...however it was so easy to take a shower...leave it wet put on some conditioner and sone As I Am and roll out. I love having natural hair. Too chicken to use a blow dryer or flat iron. Absolutely love my 3c/4a curl pattern. Hoping that the young lady hair will stay healthy.

Nadia Boyce: That cut fits her face! Super cute.

Melissa Jackson: Wow, I liked the method of sitting under the dryer to hair to reduce the amount of blow drying. It will get about 70% dry under the dryer and then the blow drying process won't be long. Some hairdressers do this bc they don't want to have to wait for the client to get 70% dry under the dryer.. I hate the blow dryer!! Thanks for sharing

lfutrell82: Such a pretty girl. I hope she never goes back to that stylist.

Sound Reign: Beautiful end result!. You can’t even tell her hair is heat damaged after you finished. It’s so unfortunate her hair got heat damaged. Years ago when my hair got damaged from heat I had to cut my hair from my shoulders to my ears cause even after doing a protein treatment and all kind of repair systems my hair just would not curl it was done. That’s why I am so hesitant to use the flat iron even though I prep my hair from the month before I actually plan to get a silk press. I just don’t think my hair likes heat lol ‍♀️.

Monique The Realtor CA: I have been natural for 7 years. I got my first Silk Press or any straight service in September of last year. My hair was completely heat damaged. I decided to just big chop and start over. A very sad day after 7 years of growth (shoulder length hair destroyed). I live in Sacramento . Apparently the stylist used either too much heat or too many passes. Luckily, I bought your products during your 100K sale. On a new growth journey! Unless I come to Orlando to get my hair done by you, I will not be getting heat styles while I'm here in Sacramento.

Kelly Brooker: I love how you do hair and break down the details of products that you use . You are awesome!!

Oowhee Barbie Chef Crystal's Cooking Channel: This is why I'm scared to get my Natural hair done in salon. Crystal great job on fixing the hair it looks great.

CaleeBags: Very informative. I love the way you educate us as you go along.

Rose Q: I had heat damage from a silk press. I used to braid my hair so long. Then I got tired of them, once I took them out my hair was this thing of gorgeous coils; coils I hadn’t noticed before bc my hair was constantly being relaxed since I was a preteen (5 yrs since I last relaxed my hair). Went to the salon and the stylist silk pressed my hair.... never saw that curl pattern again. I started going to a new stylist and she was convinced and argued w me that my hair was recently relaxed (if she was a good stylist, wouldn’t she have been able to know the difference?). Cut my hair into a Bob and starting over ‍♀️

MARLENE MEJIAS: She looks beautiful!! Great job! You are truly an artist.

Lovely Advent: Wonderful cut! Perfect to grow out nicely from. :)

MelonieM: I had the same thing happen and I am working on my getting my hair back healthy. I cut it and did a protein treatment and moisture conditioner. I will wear some protective hairstyles until I decide on a stylist. Thanks for video. I also subscribed.

fair george: Yes, I have experienced heat damage. My remedy: I went to a hairdresser to cut off my damaged ends. The hairdresser cut my hair so short that I couldn't even cornrow it.

Kiara B: It looked sooo good on her you did a great job

LoLo Tho: I experienced heat damage which certainly changed my curl pattern in addition to hair breakage. It's been nearly 7 or 8 years since I've stopped going to a stylist and my curl pattern has returned. Plus my hair has thickened where there was breakage. I've been natural since 1994 after nearly going bald from a lye perm. My biggest problem is preventing dryness since I rarely put any heat to my hair. I need a good product (s) to keep my natural style hydrated. I've tried many products, avoiding the ones that are alcohol based, but with no good results. Any suggestions for a really good product or do I need to go to a "natural" salon for an evaluation?

Ashley Allen: From looking at it, this client appeared to have needed a trim prior to the heat damage, which may have added to the breakage. IMO, ppl don’t take trims seriously then blame the heat

charlithia vaughn: You did an amazing job!!! And you know great hair care!!

Anndena Anderson: She is a pretty young lady. Her hair looks nice and healthy. Blessed hands.

Char Turner: I didn't realize heat damaged hair couldn't be 'repaired'. How can you tell if the heat being used is too high??? So many haircare tips! I love it. You did an amazing job.

sinash: Great work as always, Crystal! But! DAMN! That's a LONG hair appointment! What was that? 4-5 hours of work? In not dismissing your hard work at all... as a client, I think I would have lost my mind having to sit in a "beauty parlor" for that long! The day is shot--except for the beautiful hairstyle one walks out with.

Denise Gustafson: Her hair turned out gorgeous!

Blanche Knight: Her hair looks nice & heathly

Robin D: Wonderful transformation!!! ✂✂✂

Dunya Salem: I quit wearing my hair curly, I usually wear it curly like once or twice every 3 months. I don’t have much heat damage except for pieces in the front that frame my face (they’ve become straight). Before I was uninformed about heat damage, I just figured my hair had gotten used to being straight all the time but I know that I’m doing something right when I flat iron my hair, as despite the lack of times I’ve worn it curly, every time I do, the curl pattern is still the same (3A/3B).

Pisces R'us: I'm so sad.. never going to a salon again. All they do is damage my hair smh

Mona619: Beautiful cut!!! Excellent work. Both are lovely ladies!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!!!

Nay-Nay’s life: She still has lil beady beads, that’s why hot combs are important when doing a “press”!! But all her other hair looks full of body it looks Healthy now!

Marley Hill: I use Paul Mitchell Shampoo three to clarify and chelate my hair before my strong protein Aphogee two step. I swim and live in London with very hard water. When I wash my hair with that it's weird how my hair goes from stiff/brittle to soft for a shampoo that is supposed to be stripping. I shampoo with a trichologist shampoo every week and i use few styling products so I don't get too much product build up. I notice you have a water filter. I'm thinking of getting one but I still need to deal with my chlorine and salt from swimming. As always you did her hair beautifully. I had to wait for the heat damage to grow out. luckily it wasn't all over my hair. only a few small sections where the hair is even finer than my overall very fine hair.

Nani S: Omg how does she untangle so easily, my hair is long and curly and alwayssss matted, I dread washing it

Globbie: The Hair Doctor you are.Thank God for that gift girl and true is there are many many out there as well bt you are among the Elites. As the name suggest .Go girl go

Cindy Gomez: Wow amazing transformation you did for her. Really nice

MissMe: Her hair and skin tone for the gods

Jessica Bryant: Having heat damage doesn't mean that you're hair is unhealthy or that you have to cut it. Just refrain from putting heat in you hair until it grows out.

Yolanda Anderson: Her finish look, looks awesome

Rainy Feathers: Such a shame such lovely hair was wrecked. I'm glad she found you :D

Annette Williams: Yes, it is a beautiful cut on her

Lil Mama C: I love the way here her came out looks nice!!!

zigg_33: she is so pretty. you did a great cut

Jewelle Mason: It looks a lot better

cuzimnotlaughing: Silk presses, hair relaxing, and hair rebonding will never make natural curly hair permanent straight. Your roots are curly by nature if it grows it changes the look of silk presses hair. I uses to straighten my hair, but got tired because it was costly and took more care time. So now I prefer my natural curls..
