What'S up guys, I am back again with another video um. I have finally recorded a DIY box braid tutorial for you guys, so let's get right into it. So a couple of disclaimers first number one! Please excuse my horrible tragedy of quarantine meals. They look absolutely horrible. At this point and yeah just disregard I'm not a professional. This is only my third time doing these braids on myself, so my parts aren't as crisp and perfect as they would be. If someone professional was doing this, I wasn't really trying to get them perfect. I just wanted some raids during this quarantine period. Yeah I'm horrible at sizing, the braids you'll kind of see that, but I think in the end they still kind of turned out well so yeah. I just wanted to put those disclaimers out there early in the beginning. So if you are looking for these to be perfect, this you were on the wrong video. This is definitely a beginner friendly, DIY box, right tutorials, so yeah first things. First, let's talk method. Okay, so I have no idea where I got this method from. Maybe it was from the first time I attempted to do box braids on myself, but it just kind of stuck with me. So yes, so you're gon na take two strands of braiding hair. One stream is gon na be thicker than the other one. This is my thicker one here and then the second one you see will be my thinner one and basically the thinner one you're gon na use to loop around the other strand of hair, and no that sounds confusing, but guys please bear with me. This is actually a little difficult to explain so just try to pay attention so you'll see my method in a second after I'm done parting and again guys. My parting is my perfect, wasn't looking for it to be perfect, it's actually a lot harder than it looks. So yeah and for some reason I could've sworn, I showed the product that I use to apply on my roots before I start braiding, but I didn't so. I put it in the description below and also tell you. I use the impro shine in Jam. The orange container okay, so here's where you see the two pieces, so the one on the left is the thinner one and then the one on the right. Your right is the thicker one, you're gon na use the thinner one to loop around the thicker one, and this creates three strands now I like to do the three strand method, because I am NOT the best at adding and braiding hair. So this way I don't really have to add in braiding hair until I get like midway through the braid alright. So once I lay down my roots, I put the middle piece of hair on my actual hair and then I loop it around as tight as possible, and then I just start to braid. I probably didn't explain that the best way so the next time I do. The next braid I'm gon na, try to explain it a little bit better. So once I feel like, I have a good enough foundation, I kind of flip the way that I braid down, just because it's easier for me to braid this way and it's a lot faster. But you want to make sure that you have a tight grip on the braid, because if the break gets loose, then it'll just look super loose. Okay, so I want to show you how I add in braiding hair, to make the braid the same width all the way through and to add length. So while you have your braid party into three strict three sections, you're gon na take a small strand of writing. Hair and put it behind the braid, so you're gon na put it on the middle strand and the outer strand and then you're just gon na continue to braid down. You have to make sure that the braids stay straight and does not twist, because if it's whistling, you see how right there, it kind of looks lumpy and messy that'll happen. So I took that out just because I didn't like the way that looked and just be careful and make sure the braid stays straight and then just continue to break down as normal okay. So, let's get into this braiding technique, one more time so loop, the smaller strand of braiding hair through the thicker strand and that's going to create three strands and then you're gon na lay the middle strand on your real hair. So once you lay the middle strand on your real hair, you use your middle finger to grab the section to the left and pull it over to start your braid and then braid down this way, maybe three or four times just to create a good foundation before You flip the braid over too quickly start braiding down. Does that make sense guys? I hope it does if it doesn't just please try to study what I'm doing as much as possible. I know it's a little hard because my hands are kind of in the way, but I think on the third braid that I show you guys, you can see it a little bit better so again, you're going to take a smaller strand of braiding hair loop. It through the thicker hair, that's gon na create three strands for you: lay the middle strand down on your real hair and then start to braid. It down make sure you keep the braid as tight as possible, so that your braid looks nice and tight and neat, and that is really about it. I know there are different methods: different techniques out there. This is the one that works. For me. This is the easiest technique for me, so I hope this makes sense to you guys and yeah just watch watch for the next braid that I do and maybe you'll get a better view of how to do this. Oh and guys, I didn't explain this. The first time but y'all are probably like: why does she have the brain in her mouth, but it just helps me to bring it all the way down to the end, because they were pretty long. They stopped at my waist so yeah at the bottom of my waist. Rather, so, that's why I have it in my mouth like that and right here I was just showing you how to add in the braiding hair once again to make the braids longer and to maintain the thickness throughout. You just add it to the back of the braid. Add one part of the string into the middle. Add the other to the outer strand and braid down all right. So one more time, then, a strand of braiding, hair, thicker strand of braiding hair loop, the thinner strands around the thicker strand, add the middle to your hair. Oh, this is a perfect view at the middle to your hair grab the left strand with your middle and index finger and then just start braiding down braid down a couple of times before you flip it over and braid all the way to the end, one more Disclaimer, I forgot to add to the beginning of the video. Please disregard this super dirty, mirror that I'm looking at I've literally had it since college and it stays in my closet behind my closet door, but brought it out to help me see my parts in the back. So yeah just act like it was never there. I know it's super dirty, but I literally never use it and one too many hours later. I am finally done. I do these braids over a spread of two days just because I didn't want to cram it all into one day, but I think my head is just like really huge. I'M learning that so I think that's why I took me a little bit longer than the average person I don't know, but yeah like I said guys, I'm not a professional. So these braids are not professionally sized, are not perfectly sized, I mean not perfectly party, but I am totally okay with that, because I really like the end result and again this is a super beginner friendly video. This is only my third time doing this. So if you were looking for these braids to be perfect, then yeah, you should go check out. Another video, but I hope you guys like the method. So these parts right here, don't stick it out. This is my personal preference. I'M gon na cut these. You don't have to. I know people are against that, but it's just hair robach don't want to sticking out so yeah I'm going to cut these. So this is what the braids look like before I dip them in hot water, so this next part actually did kind of backwards. I think you're supposed to do this after you dip the braids, but I didn't do that. So whatever this Nairobi is just a setting lotion, it just kind of sets the braids set your roots and makes everything, look nice and neat, and then this spray just kind of helps to add shine and moisture to your braids so yeah. I did that before I dipped it in, for whatever reason I don't know why, but yeah so I did the ends off camera, just cuz that was too much trying to film it and all that and actually a disclaimer. So this is the end result after I dipped the braids and I actually went Breton, went back and dipped the brights some more. I kind of dipped them all the way to my roots, the second time just because I wanted them to kind of be sealed. A little bit more so if you see the ends right here, that ends are like a really sealed and really uniform, and I want it the top part of the braid to be like that as well, so yeah alright. So this is the final product. I hope you guys liked these braids. Let me know what you think questions comments, concerns leave them below like the video and do not forget to subscribe guys. iwatch ytwhenimbored: i’m 15 and my mom has been doing my braids for years, i want to learn this year so she doesn’t have to handle it! i’m so glad youtube is a thing

Haleluya Moges: Dude, the braids looked like they were done proffessionally... u did amazing...

kai nicole: she talm bout “they not professional”.. they look so good

Miss Infinite: No, I don’t like them. I love them! Great job!!

Destiny H: You should consider being an instructor! Your video was clear enough for beginners (like myself) so I did a whole head of box braids last night for the first time, thanks to your instruction keep it up sis

Ty B: So sad when you have to put disclaimers for not being perfect!! People need to stop expecting perfection from YouTubers y’all are human too smh

Ginny: Hearing stories from friends about sitting for 8hrs in the stylist’s chair, I always thought you had to be an absolute genius magician to do black hair well. I’m not a hair stylist, but I’m on a journey for personal reasons to learn how to style all textures, thicknesses, and lengths of hair, and box braids is the last leg of my journey. Thanks to this beauty queen, I’m feeling confident I can do these on someone.

Lanaeya F: also! if you don’t want to cut the pieces of your hair that are sticking out, but some braid jewelry and cover it up. it’s what i do personally (i’m done putting scissors to my head lmao). love the video girl! definitely gonna be doing my own braids during this quarantine

Branded By Jess!: Girl these braids are perfect and I love them on you this by far is the easiest tutorial I’m gonna try mine tonight thanks

Starry Nights: Love this video! They look great! I’m literally in the middle of braiding my hair myself so you taught me something new about the gripping technique! Thank you! Just a tip for you to avoid your hair sticking out. As you are braiding down, once you are maybe a few inches before where your hair would normally start to stick out, apply your gel, wax whatever you used at your roots, braid down a little, add some more gel, braid down some more, and keep adding it until you are past where your hair ends. I promise you your hair will not stick out anymore!!!

xxbeauty90xx: Did my hair using your technique and it came out so bomb! Thank you!

Youdoto Much: She explained this so perfectly i now feel confident about doing my own diy box braids

La'Joia Creary: The braids came out super cute it’s okay girl the parts doesn’t have to be perfect because it’s hard to see the back of your head sometimes I always struggled with that .❤️❤️❤️ Overall you did dat !!

Pretty Love: You did just as good as a professional. I just got some done 10 days ago. I love them. Quarantine braids

FleurDeLisCutie: So I’ve braided my hair for the first time ever. Took a week and there’s a section in the middle that I never bothered to finish (I be tired after working ). I plan to keep trying. That’s the only way I’ll get better. You did an amazing job. They really look professionally done.

Tishara Doby: My arms be burning after attempting to braid my hair

DaShauna Anderson: i've been hesitant on braiding my own hair but this is the easiest tutorial i've seen by far ! thank you for sharing i'm definitely going to do mine now

Shonita Harper: I love them! I will have to try them, this perfect for quarantine. It may also save me like $300-500 in the future.

T. B.: Literally stretching my hair to start braiding tomorrow! I may go back to the 3 strand method but I use my hair as the 3rd and feed in another strand. These look very neat and nice!

Denise Taylor: See, here you go making me think I can try this on my head and it’ll come out like this ‍♀️. These are gorgeous! I ain’t got nothing but time so I might as well practice.

K.B. Nicole: Girl this made me fall in love with box braids again. I been trying to get on the knotless wave but these !!!

Moraya Walls: They really did come out perfect. Every time to start braiding my hair I INSTANTLY regret it lol. I have sooooooo much hair. Great job beauty

Jaedyn Rollins: this is perfect! thank you! i’ve been twisting my own hair for three years now and have been nervous to braid since twisting hair is easier to work with for me one thing though, DONT DIP UP TO YOUR REAL HAIR! boiling water can cause extreme heat damage to your hair. clean braids to the root is not worth the damage.

Myhia Francis: First of all you're beautiful! Your hair looks amazing! You actually inspired me to do mine thank you so much! This technique worked well for me too! I actually ran out of hair but im gonna finish it tomorrow. I'm so glad I came across this video!

jayhill20eight: Wow!!! I’ve done these on myself using the rubber band method and the bands always showed and I didn’t know how to hide them. I’ve watch many of videos to try to do them without them and nobody explained them like you did nor showed how to start the braids the way you do. I appreciate this bc Im feeling confident enough to try them on myself again!! Thanks girlie!
