Wash And Go With Diy Flaxseed Gel | Natural Hair | Thelifestyleluxe

In this video I do a wash and go using diy / homemade flaxseed gel. I made the flaxgel perfectly this time around too! Flaxseed gel is super fast and easy to make. The recipe and instructions are below. Enjoy!⁣

Flaxseeds Gel Recipe⁣

Ingredients:⁣

• 2 1/5 cups water⁣

• 1/3 cup whole flaxseeds⁣

Instructions:⁣

1) Add water and flaxseeds to a medium-sized pot and stir to making sure all flaxseeds are submerged in water⁣

2) Set stove to a high heat and bring water to a boil (STAY NEXT TO POT DURING THIS WHOLE PROCESS)⁣

3) Once water starts boiling remove pot from eye and set stove to a low-medium to medium setting. Put pot back on eye and continue to boil for 8 minutes constantly stir the pot so that flaxseeds do not stick to the bottom of the pot. ⁣

(After about 8 minutes of boiling, water will be a SLIGHTLY thicker liquid (it will still be watery). There may also be a small trail of slime that hangs from your spoon once you remove it from the put.)⁣

4) After 8 minutes, remove pot from hot eye, cover it and allow it to completely cool for at least 2 hours.⁣

5) Pour seeds and gel into a clean wig cap, pantyhose, cheesecloth or milk bag. Squeeze the gel into the pot to separate gel from seeds. Then transfer gel to an airtight glass container or jar. ⁣

6) Store gel in fridge for up to 2 weeks. Store at room temperature from up to 4 days. ⁣

How you guys welcome back to my channel Jamila here and today, I'm gon na be doing a wash and go using flaxseed gel and we're just gon na start off by making the flaxseed gel. So you guys, I think I got this down pretty good this time. So I put 1/3 cup of flax seeds into two and a half cups of water. I mixed it up and then I put the stove on a high heat setting, so we could get to a boil and you're gon na want to make sure you're standing next to the pot the whole time and constantly stirring it. As you see me doing here, because the flax seeds will stick to the bottom of the pot for whatever reason so once the pot starts to boil, I'm gon na move it off the eye, real, quick and then bring the heat down to a medium or low Medium heat and then I'm gon na put the pot back on the eyes so that it can constantly boil, and I will pretty much constantly be stirring it for the whole time it's on the stove. So here is about 6 minutes of it constantly boiling at a medium low, medium heat setting and, as you can see, we have a thicker liquid here. Definitely what I'm wanting so once it gets to this point, I'm pretty much done, but I wanted it to just you know cook for a little longer, so I'm just gon na let this sit on the stove for literally a minute or a minute half longer, and Then remove it from by so with all the foam, but that's from boiling can be hard to really see what kind of consistency you have with your liquid. So I just removed it from the eye real, quick and then put it back on the eye and, as you can see, there's a little bit of gel a little slime enos like dripping from the spoon. So that's just indication that it's ready to be removed from the eye and cool down. It doesn't have to be like a gel consistency at this point, so I'm gon na remove it from the eye, and this is literally at 8 minutes in 30 seconds of cooking on the eye and boiling on the eye. So yeah, that's that's how long it took me to cook this and I just set it aside and I'm gon na. Let it totally cool down. I probably set it there for like two or three hours and then I come back and it is going to be a nice thick, gel consistency and, as you can see, if you want guys watched my last video, where I made my flexi gel, it turned out Dark cuz I kept having to boil it. I had to make that stuff like two times before. I actually got a gel, but you guys this time. I only tried it once and it's looking exactly how I want it to be nice and thick yes, perfect, and it literally took me less than 10 minutes to make. So here I'm just taking a jar that I put you can use pantyhose a week cap or a cheesecloth, and I'm gon na put the gel into the. I think these are pantyhose and I'm going to put the gel in there all the flax seeds. Everything before I squeeze it out and I'm gon na squeeze it out in the pot, because it's just wider and it's less of a mess. That way. So I highly suggest that you squeeze your gel into your pot and then transfer the gel from the pot into your jar. Here'S the gel you guys it turned out so perfect and it was so easy to make. I'M gon na have all the steps that I just mentioned in the description box below, and hopefully yours turns out just as great so with this flexi gel. I'M gon na keep it in the refrigerator and it will hold up to two weeks and you can hold it out of the refrigerator like in their bathroom or in a cabinet, and it should hold up to four days and then with the flax seeds. You can reuse them, so I'm just gon na put them in a strainer and rinse them off with cold water to wash out all the slime put them in a jar and store them in the refrigerator to be used within the next two weeks. All right. So I have my aloe vera gel in here. If I need to real wet my hair and for moisturizer, I'm gon na be using this, make it last wash and go curl primer, which is pretty much just a moisturizer, leave-in conditioner. So and now I have my gel my flaxseed gel yay, so glad this is so much easier to make this this, like last time around um, so yeah, so I'm just gon na start putting this stuff in my hair, so we can dry. So my hair hasn't sort of drying for a while. I'M just gon na put a little more aloe little aloe on this section, just tamari wet it some of the primer. This is a really really really good moisturizer. I really like this moisturizer makes you hear so smooth. I mean look at my hair and this is just with the primer in it super nice, it's gon na get some of this stuff. Oh, oh, my gosh! This is a lot like thicker than the other one. I made oh, my goodness this is so weird, so I'm just gon na get some of this gel, I'm just gon na rub it in my hair. This has such a nice slip, this flaxseed gel. So it's definitely something that I like about it and it's just working so well. With this primer, I can tell these products go really good together, which is wonderful. It'S gon na put a little bit more on my hair, especially like towards the roots and then I'll put a little bit like focused on the ends. So I am gon na. Add oil to my hair. I'M just gon na use this elite gay, naturals, lemongrass, finishing oil. My hair feels so good. I'M really excited. I think this is gon na turn out nice all right. So I'm just going to finish the rest of my hair. You guys already know what I'm gon na do and then I'll come back and show you how it's looking and, of course, I'll, come back and show you how it looks when it dries all right. So I'm done with my hair, putting the product in and I didn't use too much. I have this much left, so I did do too much with the gel. This is my hair is drying right now, so I'm just gon na let my hair dry and of course, I'm gon na come back and show you guys. My hair looks like when it's done drying I'll, probably come back tomorrow. It'S almost 6 o'clock, 6 p.m. and yeah. I think my hair is gon na take all day to dry, so I'll just come back tomorrow. Show you guys how my hair is looking all right, you guys, so it is at the next day, and this is what my hair is looking like. I'M pretty happy with the results I'm gon na come in a little closer. I did stretch my hair yesterday. It was like a little wet before I went to sleep, so I blow-dried it so we could be completely dry and I just put a diffuser on my blow dryer and like did tension. I just pulled sections and blow-dried a little bit light tension. You know nothing crazy. I did light tension just to stretch the hair out, so I could like blow dry. My hair gon na be dry and have a little of the length back in it, and this is what it's looking like so yeah. In my opinion, my hair is looking pretty cute and I am happy with the flaxseed gel for my wash and go so um. There are some things, though I do notice. I don't even know if you can see it on here, but there is like just oh, so there is just a little little bit of flaking with the flaxseed gel that I notice like on my ends right here um, but I mean it's nothing crazy. I think there's like a little up here and I didn't use that much flaxseed gel yesterday. I showed you in the jar and I have pretty good amount left, but there's it's nothing crazy, but there is a little slight amount of flaking um. So I mean that's one thing to take note, and so you asked me like how do I like the flaxseed gel compared to kinky curly curling custard, which I always rave about and, like you know, talk about because I love that gel. So comparing those two gels. So, of course I, like I just mentioned, there's like a little like some flakes in my hair from the flaxseed gel some, it's not a big deal, but one thing I noticed is that the flaxseed gel does not eliminate as much phrase as a key Carly curling Custard, so that is one thing you know when I'm doing a wash and go I like to start out sort of you know free freeze and then you know that's the goal, but it doesn't eliminate frizz as well as the key curly curling custard, but they both Have really good definition, they're both really easy to apply, but they both have amazing slip and they're actually like fun to put in your hair because they're so slippery, and I'm talking about both gels here, like those are things that they have in common. That are really good as far as the key curly curling custard. One thing I like about that is the smell of it. I think, has a nice Pleasant like light sit and then also it does a better job at fighting freeze. So those are like the main things that I noticed so, oh and then one thing I guess this could be like a car with the um Kiki Hurley curling custard. I mean I have it exactly like you researched all of the ingredients in the kinky curly curling custard, but of course, like the flexi jellies, 100 % natural. So I feel like that's a plus also, but you know I don't know. Maybe the extra chemicals in the kinky curling custard are what sort of help stops or what like sort of helps it fight frizz more so you know who knows, but if I had to choose one of those to use for the rest of my life, it would Be kinky curly, curling custard, so that is a minus or to that, but they're both really good. They both have a lot in common and also, if you wanted to customize your flaxseed gel, you could definitely add a scent to it by adding some essential oils to it and making it smell good. So - and you know, if you want to do that, you could definitely do that. I don't think I'm gon na do that, because that really care my hair smells good because of the moisturizer and the other products I put in my hair and because it's clean, so that also was gon na. Have your hair smelling good, but so it doesn't really matter actually about the flaxseed gel smelling good, because my products smell good, so yeah. That is it you guys um yeah, so that that those are those are my thoughts on that on the gel, and I mean my washing. That looks pretty good. If you ask me so yeah, that's my bean for those of you who are asking that is it. You guys that is my video. My review might be trying a flaxseed gel on a wash and go, and you know I like my hair. So I hope you found this video helpful and if you did be sure to even comment down below give a thumbs up and subscribe for more follow me on instagram. As always. Thank you so much for watching and I'll see you all next time bye and then can't listen jar. Okay! Oh I'm pretty happy with the results I'm gon na zoom, Oh

Carlyne Saint Roc: The easy way to do this is to simply strain the flaxseed mix with a regular strainer while it's still hot . It will thicken up as it cools down so no messy hands and no need for pantyhose. 1 to 2 tablespoon of flaxseed will yield enough for 2 week's use as the gel doesn't have to be very thick to get the hold and other benefits. Also, too much flaxseed may contribute to the likelihood of flaking. Add some oil for additional shine, smoothness and to minimize any hard cast.

Brit JJ: I came out nice. I make such a mess when applying this though lol. Flaxseed gel gives me AMAZING hold. I got a good 5 days out of my wash and go the other day using it! It does set fairly hard at night when I pineapple it but I just spray my hair down the next day with my water and aloe mix and it’s like first day hair. Best of all it’s cheap.

Fine Natural Hair ROCKS: Your wash and go looks gorgeous Jamila and your flax gel came out really nicely as well. I've never made flax gel before but I think I will now! Great video!

Marie Brady: Much easier if you strain the Flax seed out of it while it’s a still alittle bit runny. As it cools in a jar already strained out it comes out perfect, no mess.

Ask Alley: I just tried this and it came out amazing. First time making flaxseed gel. I'll do a wash n go and let you know how it goes Thank you xo

Tim Roberts: In vegan baking we use flax as egg replacements . and you can literally put flax and water and let it sit no boiling and get the same texture

Butterfly Warrior: Coat hair in oil (I use castor oil) before applying the gel should help keep the flakes and crunch away. Water/Aloe juice, oil then gel.

Faith Wambu: Thank you Jamila. I just used your method. And love the results. Your hair looks bomb

Brandi Smith: Kinky Curly (KC) hasn't been completely honest with its ingredients. Several years ago, I worked with a cosmetic chemist to help create a natural curling gel like KC for my own haircare line. When they reverse engineered KC curling custard, they said it was no way they only used what they listed on the jar. They added some other things in their formula and I have no idea what it is. It would have cost $25K to reverse engineer the formula and I didn't want to know that bad.

E’Nyah: Your hair is so healthy and beautiful!

Roxy Marie: So Beautiful! Great results.

Sandra Willis: Try to leave in for 7 days and it works well and then wash out you will see many results that's very good

Caryla Gerard: Thanks for the feedback I've used the fs☆gel with Ricewater plus AfricanPride#Rosewater&Arganoil curlmousse and had no flaking. Maybe to much products with the Flaxseed gel can cause flaking?Try it with different products is my adviseGreetings from Holland‍♀️Love your hair

One 4 Truth: For those who don't know...eye means burner. We say that in the south

Petra Alexander: After putting the flaxseed do you wash it out after

Lisa: Thanks for the honesty. I experienced the same results. Good video.

Roxanne Padmore: You should use the flax seed gel on its own, if you use it with so many other products of course you'll get flaking. I have never experience flaking from the flax gel on its own. Only beautiful shine

Adriana Diaz: Hello. If you put all that good products into the jar alone with the flaxseed gel and add a few drops glycerine, avocado oil, and conditioner..it works for me beautifully. Good luck

Yvonne Staub: I'm going to do that. I use 10 drops of Lavender after I squeeze with 3 Vitamin E capsules. My hair is so damaged it tames it beautifully. Thanks for your video!!!!

bobbyoriaks: What about boiling in marshmallow root or using only marshmallow root instead. As flaxseed, marshmallow root makes mucus too!

Sophia Johnson: I add honey and a couple of tablespoons of oil to the gel and whip to eliminate any flakes.

Vivian Matti: The best way to strain flex seeds gel without any mess is to use french press, I always use it. You could thank me later.

Brittney Nyshae: Can you reuse the flaxseed from the first batch?

Amy K: Looks pretty

Los Angeles Homes & Lifestyle: When I used the flax seed gel, when it dried, my hair was hard, dry and brittle. I like the curl it gave me what can be done to soften?

cheryl parker: tried it omg the curls tho

Anne Kalubi: Does the flaxseed gel leaves your hair flaky? I am trying to find a gel that would not gives the white flakes

Rhead Sparks: Your hair and you are beautiful!

Marshall Waller: In the refrigerator, lasts WAY longer than 2 weeks. People keep it for months.

Lenora Harrison: What did you say you used as your “primer”?

Anam Khan: You have low porosity hair? Does it work for low porosity hair? New here
