Let'S go ahead and address the elephant in the room. Yes, I cut my hair, it's not crazy, but it gets crazy. For me, this is the shortest my hair has ever been, and I just feel like man, I feel like a woman, I feel sassy. I feel fun I feel fresh. I feel like this is the healthiest my hair has ever looked, let's go ahead and jump on into today's video. Today'S video is all about blonde hair, whether you have straight hair, curly, hair, wavy, hair whatever it may be. It'S all about maintaining your blonde hair. Changing your blonde hair, I'm gon na! Take you to the hairdresser with me. Show you the exact color she whips up for me and then walk you through kind of how I maintain my blonde while having like healthy hair. If I do say so myself and a big big, thank you to not your mothers for sponsoring today's video and working with me, you guys know I work with them all the time I love their brand. I love their team. I love their products. So let's go ahead and head to the hair salon. This is the after role the before meet Joanne, my sassy hair angel, who whips up the perfect color. For me, every single time, Joanne is just mixing up the magic, as you saw. Those are the three ingredients that she puts together to with this puppy up, so I always sit there. Talk with her show her how my hair has grown out, that it's tragic, that I can't live with this color anymore and then she's like okay girl. I got you how I personally get my hair highlighted roughly like every two months, sometimes a little bit over, so I typically get my hair partially highlighted four times in the year and then full highlights twice in the year. I do not get lowlights. I only get highlights - and you can see right here - that color that's closest to my scalp, that is my natural hair color. So it's like a light, like kind of like ashy brown, it's a very, very light brown or like a dirty blonde. Depending on how you look at it - and this is how I look in the end - we are not back from the hair salon and it is about four days since I've gotten my hair coloured. So I have gotten it back to its natural wavy curly state in just a couple of days and gotten it back to a really healthy, healthy place. I think - and it will continue to look better as probably like the next two weeks. I think I'll be able to get it to that like really good space, but it just takes the right products and understanding your hair getting those proteins back in all that jazz. Just a little background, I was born with blonde hair and then, as I got older, got into puberty and my hair started to become not brown but like a dark blonde, so almost like a dirty blonde or like a really really light brown for the most part. That'S how it goes with blondes. If you see an adult woman who has very very bright vivid blonde hair, she most likely has highlights or dyes it in some way, shape or form. Now, let's talk about the science of what really happens when you bleach your hair, how it affects your hair so that I can then give some really solid product recommendations for how you're gon na want to maintain your blonde hair over time to keep it nice and Healthy, so, if we're looking at a strand of hair, there's different layers to it, the outermost layer is called the cuticle. Now, when you apply bleach to your hair, the bleach has to go through and penetrate to the hair cuticle to then get to the cortex, which is closer to the center of the hair follicle, so that they can actually change the color of your hair. Now, when you disturb that cuticle layer yeah, you are asking for trouble so in that cortex area, where the bleach has now penetrated. That'S where a lot of the fats and the proteins of your hair are located and that can then break down those proteins break down. Those fats and leave your hair lifeless you're, also leaving that hair cuticle open for the proteins and the fats and all the good things that we want to stay in our hair to escape our hair strands so well. Yes, there are lots and lots of dangers with dyeing your hair and bleaching your hair. There are solutions introducing your new blonde, best friend, retailing for only 749 after local targets, not your mother's blonde moment, Shampoo and Conditioner. These are purple shampoos, baby girl and they don't change alack. I have been testing purple shampoos for an eternity. I think I've tried like every brand of purple shampoo. I kid you not. These are the most well-rounded purple shampoos on the market, hands down that. I have found they are sulfate surfactant, free, paraben, free and silicone free, which is really. Let me tell you folks. It is hard to find okay, it's hard to find. So when I stumbled across these babies, we had a moment a blonde moment. Both all of you know whenever you have a color, and you want to counteract it. You just simply use the opposite. Color looking at our color wheel, the opposite of yellow, is purple. Therefore, purple shampoo is your best friend now everyone's different. I would say that I use purple shampoo once a week or once every other week, depending so when I'm not using this shampoo and conditioner. I will use my regular, not your mother's curl, top line. You guys know. I'Ve talked about this product 10 zillion times, but when I need a kick to get rid of any brassiness and also dullness in my hair, I find that this product really just tackles it. The biggest issues I've found with purple shampoos on the market is that there's not a good balance between the products working and getting rid of grassiness, but then it makes my hair really dull and dry or the product doesn't really do much, but it is hydrating in A nice shampoo - this is the best of both worlds, so this product actually has violent rice extract. It'S super nourishing super hydrating, but it also does the job. The shampoo is more pigmented than the conditioner. So this is that shampoo. I mean hello and it's air conditioner, and I did just want to note for those of you who have brown hair and you get highlights. Maybe it looks a little bit orange e. They have a brunette moment shampoo and their line that counteracts any orange tones in your hair, which I just think it's really cool and interesting, so they definitely have products for everyone. I couldn't recommend this line enough because it just genuinely worked. So the next thing that you want to be aware of with getting highlights is that you're going to lose as we spoke about fats and proteins from her hair, so moisturizing, your hair, masking your hair is absolutely essential. You guys already know that I love not your mother's matcha, green tea and apple blossom mask it's super super nourishing moisturizing, it's also silicon free. So it's genuinely going to get these good ingredients into the hair cuticle and not just like seal it up with a waxy layer. You know what I mean after getting your hair highlighted. You need really quality ingredient products, but I know that we don't all have an insane budget, so that is what I love so much about, not your mothers that their products are super super, affordable and available at your local target. I will link them all in the description box down below for you another natural option for those of you who are really seeking protein. Specifically, I would personally recommend the day you get home from getting your hair highlighted using just coconut oil heating it up in your microwave and then just applying it to your hair to really get those proteins back into your hair. I wouldn't leave it in for forever. I personally find that my hair can almost begin to look straw like if I leave coconut oil in my hair for too long. So definitely be cautious of that you want to get the proteins back in it, but not too much and then once you have those proteins back in your hair, just mask mask mask to get the nutrients and that moisture that your hair desperately needs backing your hair. Now, for those of you who are still considering and unsure whether or not you want to get your hair highlighted or dyed or changed in any way, I would just consider where your hair is at what color is it and what color you want. For example, if you have brown hair - and you want some highlights to get a more overall light - brown that is very different from going from black hair to blonde hair, so just note the more levels you change, there's going to be more damage associated with it. It is not impossible to have happy healthy, color-treated hair, but it is more time-consuming and you might have to change up your process a little bit. I'Ve had many many of you message me saying you know I had dark brown hair. I went to blond. My hair pattern has completely changed. My curls aren't curling up as much my hair isn't as hydrated looking and just that. You totally regret it, and my biggest recommendation is to change your routine you're gon na have to accommodate for the changes that you've made to your hair, whether that now be adding a leave-in into your hair. Not your mother's has an amazing amazing leave-in from the same exact line. It has a really lovely spray. It'S very fine gosh, it's almost like a mist, it smells beautiful. It smells like really expensive salon, hair products - oh I love it anyways, so maybe you'll have to add a leave-in to your teen. Maybe you need to start doing a deep conditioning mask three times a week. I don't know exactly what it looks like for you, but I do think that you will most likely have to change your routine and add a couple more steps of moisture protein, etc to keep and maintain your new color. Last but not least, I just want to personally recommend getting your hair done professionally. I'M not saying that there's anything wrong with box hair dyes or anything like that. I have friends who box dyed their hair and it looks beautiful. So I'm not saying that, like it can't be done, but if you're not a hair stylist, maybe you should leave that to a hairstylist. I just personally feeling it's not worth ruining your hair to save a hundred bucks. You know what I'm saying. I feel like that. Everything I know that you guys have wanted this video for a while, and I've been so excited to bring it to you. I hope that you are as excited as I am about the natural mother's blonde moment line products. They are truly truly phenomenal. The leave-in conditioner, as well as Rafik rate, it works, really well as a detangle, and I just really really love the line. I hope that you found this video helpful. Please leave any comments, concerns down below, I always always say at the end of my videos. I want this to be a community, a safe place where we can go to ask each other questions, help each other out. So please, let me know if you have any specific questions. Let'S all help each other out and biggest of thank yous to not your mothers. For sponsoring today's video, I could not be more thankful to work with a brand whose products not only do I stand behind fully um, but their team is just amazing and it just it makes my job so lovely so yeah, okay, I love you guys. I hope you have an amazing rest of your day and until next time I'll see you soon bye, guys

Carolices por Carol Vieira: The exact same thing happened to me. My hair was a very light blonde was I was young, but then it got brown. I’m still a little afraid to get highlights, but maybe I will... who knows? You rock, girl

Freddie Mercury: I just bleached my hair by myself (quarantine drove me crazy), and honestly, it turned out SO GOOD! I’m using the blonde moment shampoo, and I don’t know if it really tones my hair that much, but it definitely makes my hair feel so soft!

Jennifer Marie: When you don't have blonde hair but still watch because india is queen

Ines Lamia: This came at a great time! I just got my hair highlighted for the 50 millionth time, but got a brighter color this time. I have 2C-3A curl type. This is great information!!! Thanks xoxo

Diana Reynolds: I used to have blonde hair up until puberty but then my hair just got darker I loved my blonde hair but then with my curls frizzing up and not having blonde hair I started dying my roots and it messed up my hair Thank goodness to your advices and my stylist that managed to make my hair look so good no matter how damaged it was I've been on my curly hair journey for 3 years Since i was 13 and i am looking forward for days where i have fabulous blonde and also curly hair ;)))

Jamie Bowden: Love your shorter length! Looks super healthy and suits you girl!

Rory Roseberry: Ayesha just posted her first video in two years! She talked about how diva curl RUINED her hair. Could you make a video on your thoughts about this? To anyone reading this: stop using diva curl until we get to the bottom of this!

Shae Darwood: So I'm also a dirty blonde and when I got my highlights my hair turned almost white. It's not brassy at all, but it's much whiter and lighter than I was expecting. What do you ask your stylist for to keep it a natural looking light blonde?

Kaye: I have a similar curl pattern and length! I showed my hairdresser a picture of you and now I’m blonde & I love it !

jose martin chilet: THIS IS AMAZING YAAS QUEEN ♥️ thank u so much, it was supremely informative and great... im thinking of getting highlights this year and im so happy your brought this topic to ur channel so we can be aware of the process it takes yeyy♥️

Nicole Jones: So nice to see you back! I hope the family are all well and keep us posted on any exciting wedding planning developments!

JR Clute: The pigments in these products are gorgeous! I have low lights, excited to try the brunette moment. Love love the matcha mask, purchased on your recommendation. I wish highlights would strip fats from my body, not just my hair. . Thank you for a great video, love you

Sara: I actually just bought this shampoo but have not used it yet. I got my hair highlighted for the first time in 2 years (after about a decade of coloring it prior), so I'm excited to have found a CGM purple shampoo! I'm still trying to get my curls looking normal again (my hairdresser blew it out straight too which doesn't help!)

Raynah Woolsey: India have you seen the videos from The Glam Bell and Ayesha talking about their experience with devacurl? Will you please speak on this matter? I have personally lost a lot of hair from using DevaCurl products.

Brooke Haselow: I have brown hair but you know I still be watching because I love India

: i miss my platinum hair color but the upkeep for me and the damage bc i didn't go to a good salon was just too much...btw olive green just looks amazing on you!

M Deedman: what would i tell my hairdresser if i wanted to recreate this haircut? it looks so bouncy and healthy!!

Frances Pentz: Just wanted to throw out there a different option. I actually have the Not your mother’s blonde moment line, but I also love Fanola No Yellow shampoo. It’s my personal favorite of the purple shampoos I have tried!

curlgurl: SO HELPFUL THANKS SIS! I've never colored my curls before but I was wanting to go lighter with some highlights before my wedding/honeymoon. I have six months til then, when should I get it colored so that it will look the best and I can still rock my natural curls on my big day? Like should I get it colored now and then touch it up again before the wedding?

Starbies hoe: I’ve been using blonde moment for like 5 months. THE. BEST. I’m obsessed

Emma Davis: Do you have any resources you recommend for learning more about protein in your hair? I know you mentioned getting too much protein from using coconut oil for too long, but what does that look like? How can you know how to balance the amount of protein in your hair? It's all pretty confusing to me haha

Haile Peach: Please tell me how you get your part so perfect?! Mine never lays right since my front pieces curl forward.

Cassidy Dickman: I love the overtone purple conditioner! 10/10 awesome!

H0NEYMOURN: I have natural light blond hair but I still have to tone it every few weeks because I live in Arizona and the sun fucks it yellow great video sis✨

Kyra Pickens: i love your new hair!! it looks so good! have you noticed anything wrong with devacurl's products?

Adrienne: Dear India, can you please address the issue going on with devacurl and the lawsuit?

Shaye Maxey: It's so funny that you posted this because I'm getting my hair highlighted this weekend so this was super helpful!

Fresca Kanari: As a current cosmetology student, I really don’t recommend box dye because it penetrates your hair with very unhealthy ingredients which make it difficult to go lighter and can actually fill the cuticle with high levels of ammonium and other bad ingredients even if box dye claims to be ammonium free. Just be careful and seek a professional

Tim Rivera: I just got the shampoo and conditioner today. I have natural sandy ash mix blonde curly hair and I am in love with them so much.

Orewa Houston: I love you India!!!! I have wavy black hair but you bet I’m watching this

Marika Montanari: I think I might cut my hair this short too :)) Love from Italy!

Emmie Brigid: Do you ask for a specific shade of blonde or toner at the salon? My hair is the color of your natural shade and whenever I get highlights it pulls too ashy for me.. I’m legit obsessed with your hair

Danielle Hodgson: I love this video and I can't wait to find that shampoo and conditioner next week hopefully Good video!!!!!

as28: I’ve never dyed my hair before but I’ve always really wanted too but I’m so scared it’ll be super damaged. And I’m scared I’m gonna loose the curl pattern. not sure what to do!

Sara Turner: I'm naturally blonde and I also must say, NYM's is the absolute best. I love it, too.

Jc Morton: These are the best Blues.... I've tried them ALL, and they leave your hair soft, not brittle.... ! Love the lengh of your hair!

curlyhair72400: I love Joanne! She’s been cutting my hair for past couple years since you mentioned her salon!

Raquel Pujadas Domínguez: the cut looks beautiful!!! your waves look tighter, it really suits you :)

Felicia Bethea: Olaplex #3 before and after any color change, or ANY hair procedure really. It's a bond rebuild, not a conditioner. Then masking every week might help even more.

Shana Ayers: I just bought that shampoo and conditioner and I’ve actually used it everyday and it’s great

Ashley Zavala: What do you ask for when you get your hair cut? I love this cut it looks so good!!

Tina Perera: I have dirty blonde hair and throw arctic fox on it all the time. I loooove it. I'm blue right now. But I'm considering going lighter blonde so this is helpful.

Brooke Arceneaux: Girl, your eyes are really POPPING in this video! Please share what eyeshadow you used ☺️

raspberrymelon: The new haircut is gorgeous, babe! I don’t have a strand of blonde on my head at the moment, but I still watched this video intently.

TaraRihana86: Your hair looks gorgeous! With the shorter hair you look so much like tour mama

Alexis Dorr: Awesome video!! If I have mousey brown hair originally but I’m going full blonde/ heavy blonde highlights should I get the blonde or brunette version of this product?

Jennifer Mackall: India, love your channel! Check out the Think Dirty app. It shows which products are toxic and which are not. I realize some of these people are paying you, and still, young girls are looking up to you and their health is at stake. Shea Moisture and JessiCurl and a few other lines and products you talk about are very safe. Get that app, girl, and look up the products! You want your reputation to be clean for the long run. ♥️ Hooty Hoo! ♥️

Christianna: Iv been waiting for this video yay!! Thank you

Jules: It’s impossible to find an informational video that isn’t sponsored! I just want to know what works ):

Chelsea _: Yesss India thank you for this video!!

heather H: Silly question.. will naturally blond hair benefit at all from these products?

Kami Meiers: What colors and product does your hair dresser use? My friend has similar hair and I don’t know enough about color to know which ones to get.

nanita35: Have you tried Shea moisture’s purple rice water line?

K: Her eyes just hypnotize me, such beautiful color

Eden Robinson: You would looks so good with a cool dark brown!!!

Fandering Worest: I think your natural hair color would look even better! That brown is nowhere to find in salons! It would really bring out your eye color, even though it already is brought out

AllThingsSasha: Your natural hair color is my dream root color. I love a shadow root but since my natural hair is basically black every stylist says I can never get to that light ashy color .

Coco and Rosemary: I am a 33 year old woman who has really blonde hair and I'm happy to say I don't color it. I want to though lol

B D: I just looked up not your mothers blonde moment shampoo...42.59 plus tax (5.54) for 8oz (Canada)

Yesrob: Hello Beautiful. You have not had problems in your hair related to devacurl products? I have seen many youtubers with quite a few followers who have made videos regarding hair problems related to their products.

Yolanda Cruz: The shorter cut is beautiful!!

Patricia Kealy: What coppery eyeshadow do you use??

kendallsq: I’m like you but the opposite lol I hated being light blonde as a kid and it got to a dark blonde now as an adult and I prefer it dyed to a darker brown. Idk why I find that kind of funny and interesting?? If that makes sense lol

Coco Watts: Yess miss India hair lookin fly ❤️

9melissal: Says she's going to address the elephant in the room and I thought it was going to be about deva curl. Couldn't even tell her hair had been cut lol

Stephanie Hayes: What salon are you going to? I live in Atlanta too and it's hard to find someone who can cut curls.

Sophia Wallen: I LOVE YOU INDIA!!♥️♥️
