Here's how I do my monthly henna applications on my natural hair. I love the purple to copper red highlights it gives my natural dark brown hair when light hits my hair. It's all natural and I don't need to have my hair professionally bleached.

Also let's have a quick chat on natural hair influencers and hair stylists. I feel like a lot of natural hair influencers are being wrongly demonised for doing what they did for years: Giving reviews about natural hair care brands and sharing their hair journey online! If it wasn't for them and other hair enthusiasts in online forums and hair blogs, we would definitely not be where we are today and we would certainly not profit from the growing variety of hair care brands specializing in afro textured hair. We should really acknowledge this and not start to create devision!

Here is a link to my blog post about the Maximum Hydration Method where you can find the links if you're further interested: https://rabielleparfait.com/2021/10/19...

We're still underrepresented! So come on and join me for some type 4c natural hair love.

Hi everyone welcome to my simple school of henna, let's hannah with type 4c here to butt length, alright just place body, art, quality, henna powder without any chemicals in a bowl and add warm water little by little until you get a smooth, creamy and thick paste, like Greek yogurt henna thickens up a lot and also gets runny very easily, so make sure not to immediately add too much water at once. I don't only use it as a hair dye or to promote stronger hair strands. It also makes my hair very smooth, improves the sheen and gives me curl clamping and it doesn't leave my hair rough or hot like a protein treatment. My hair color is a natural dark brown one, but i love the reddish to purple. Highlights hannah can give my hair, then i add a dash of rose water because i like the scent - and i like it - a little bit more fancy. Maybe you wonder why? I don't add: lemons, peas, honey powders and oils they make my hair feel very harsh and very prone to breakage. Even if i would follow up with a deep conditioner oils will prevent a good hair dye. That'S why i don't add them anymore. I used to think henna is supposed to feel harsh because it acts similar to a protein treatment, but no, no, no take it back to simplicity and you'll be rewarded with a soft feeling so again just water and henna, and maybe a dash of something i usually Leave my henna to process for about four hours, but you can also let it sit overnight now, it's time for henna, look at the colors, it looks like african peanut butters do if you're, not a fan of stained, fingernails and hands. I highly recommend you to use gloves, always start with freshly washed or at least clean hair. So this is my one week old hair. It was only washed with shampoo all right, it's time to apply the paste. How you do it is up to you, but working in small sections helps a lot. So here i just started in the front and smooth the henna paste down and make sure to coat every hair strand from the roots to the tips. Then i twist with section and put it in a bun to have it out of my way. Type 4 hair has the tendency to look like with enough products coating the hair strands, but when you really dig into it you'll notice, it has only reached your surface. This is why it's crucial to work in small sections. So what does it mean for type 4, b and c here? Yes, yeah? No! Yes, yes, ah wow excellent! Yes, we need to work in even more smaller sections. So next time, if you put conditioner leave-in gels, creams, moisturizers, clay, masks or henna masks in your hair work in very small sections, as you have just witnessed, i'm preaching your standards and you can see the henna paste has not reached certain parts of my hair. Yet yeah the hair in the back may seem very short or damaged to you, but this is just shrinkage, while i'm applying the henna. Let me address one concern lately. My explore page is showing me a lot of videos about why we need hairstyles or people correcting others who are doing the hair great. I just don't like the direction are heading to in the natural hair community and yes, natural hairstyles are needed, but we should also acknowledge the fact that black people are living all over the world with no access to good stylists. When i did my first big job in 2010, i have seen no stylist. It was youtubers and natural hair fans in internet forums that inspired me to care for my hair when everybody else said it's impossible with a hair type like this. Well, i failed. I quickly went back to chemicals and did another big job in 2015, with a year of transitioning and again, i was heavily influenced by natural hair influencers and hair care forums and have been finally stable. Since then, i won't go back to relaxers. Now not everyone has the financial freedom to visit a stylist twice a week or even once a month. So if it's wash and ghost you want to master on type 4 b and c here then join me subscribe and we try to do it together for free until you find a stylist to consult you, i'm living in the north of germany and there's absolutely no Hairstylist ever that would be willing to do my hair. The way i wish it here, black stylist would rather put a relaxer inside my hair when combing it wet with a conditioner and white stylists would just faint away because they've never seen or touched hair like this. Usually, we blacks here in germany tend to wear extension, braids, weaves and wigs long past, shoulder length and relaxed hair is really rare to witness, and even people with natural hair would choose to hide the hair most of the time away. So i think we shouldn't be discouraged to do natural hair content for others, even if we are not professionals, if it weren't for the trial and error of others, which can be by the way simply googled in internet forums. Hairstyles wouldn't have a knowledge they have now. I, for myself, was heavily influenced by the maximum hydration method since 2015 and made my own tweaks and routine. Since i didn't like the use of baking soda, i can talk more about it in a different video. But what i can say in short now is that the creator also encourage the use of gels and sad vet gels do a better job in locking moisture in when oils and butters check out her original thread in the description box. There'S a lot of information about reaching hydration that might be useful for you and where also a lot of product recommendations like uncle funky's, gel and kinky curly products. I'M not saying that you should go and buy apple, cider, vinegar or baking soda to use on your hair. Shampoos do a better job and they are more. Gentle talk to your stylist. But if you like doing research and reading there might be interesting information for you, like redoing, your hair, every three days, all right. So these are my two cents on if we need hairstylists okay, so i'm just moving my hair down and i try to fill the missing gaps to coat my hair with hannah you, alright, i'm almost done. I was really happy to have clean hands, but some hair strands were really stuck on and wanted to tease me do now here, i'm covering my hair with plastic foil. If your paste isn't thick enough, it will run out. Please bear with in mind and then i just place my shower bonnet on top. Please don't ask me why i started with a white t-shirt in the first place i had to do grocery shopping and it was cold wet day. So i could cover everything up with my wool bonnet. No one will know, but i was scared of peanut butter stew running out of my head. That'S why i'm being extra cautious now this is four hours later time to rinse it out by the way. This is the only time you would see me spending so much time with my hair, i like very easy and uncomplicated hair routines, but for henna i will do an exception once a month, others dye their hair or spend hours of deep conditioning or braiding. So why can't i just handle my hair? I love a purple and red to copper, highlights it gives my hair when sunshine hits it so here i'm just rinsing it out. How does it feel excellent? I make sure to get as much as possible out of my hair. My hair feels soft and it's not coming from emollients or oils just henna mixed with water and a tiny bit of rose water. You have to try it out all right, so let me put the shower curtain over and rinse the mask out. Truly, when you think you rinsed enough, still more will come out now. I feel like i've rinsed it all out. Look at my coils it's defined, and here we go again. It was still not enough. The water was yellow and not white, so i'm rinsing it out again, i'm going to follow up with a herbal tea rinse and not a conditioner. So what kind of tea is it? I used slippery elm and hibiscus petals to condition my hair, a tiny bit of camellia seed oil, since it's very lightweight and it is believed to prevent gray, hair and finally lemongrass essential oil for its antibacterial properties. Why do i follow up with a herbal tea rinse? It will allow the henna dye to set in the hair for a couple of days, because many conditioners contain small amounts of cleansing agent inside the hair. We can wash the dye out too soon, but it's up to you just find a conditioner that won't wash the dye out. So here i'm just doing the t rinse and let it sit for a bit all right time to rinse it out. As you can see, i always make sure to rinse raw oils out of my hair, since it's very lightweight, it won't build up on my strands and i could still have a descent wash and go one. So what do you think? Does it look any different from the henna rinse before? Are my hair strands repelling the water streams? Please let me know in the comment section if you want to support me, just subscribe to my channel and hit the notification button, it would mean a lot to me. My main content is about natural hair care, but i can't just bore you with natural hair stuff. Reaching bad length will take some time so from time to time. I will also share fashion beauty and lifestyle related content until we grow this hair to my feet. By the way, my main focus is washed and goes. I will share as many tutorials as possible so that you can try it at home. I have not fully mastered my wash and gos yet, but i'm very happy with my hair care routine. A decent looking haircut would be great, but let me find a stylist. Alright hannah see you next month i followed up with a wash and go and used kinky curly, styling foam and the curling custard see you in the next video turn it down.

Just Tanoe: Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It is challenging when you have no access to a professional licensed curly hair specialist. I am in a slightly more accessible area and still run into challenges finding an experienced cut it Kinky hair stylist. We are all just trying to do the best with the resources we have access to at the time. I have never tried henna and will likely not because I personally like my hair color at the moment .

Sherri Okere: My hair loves henna. I've been using it for years and it has helped my hair reach waist length thanks to Curly Proverbs. I also like to make henna gloss treatments. I think it's better to learn how to care for and do your own hair.

Lynne4REAL: Excellent video! I agree with you on the underrepresentation for our 4c natural hair. Keep doing what you are doing!

Rabielle Parfait: Hi everyone, here's a detailed video on how I do my monthly henna applications at home. I usually follow up with a herbal hair tea rinse mixed with very small amount of oils and essential oils that won't affect the outcome of my washngo and it will also not repel the water stream while I'm rinsing the hair tea out. Most of us naturals are quite heavy handed when it comes to product applications, oils and butters. Using less to rarely when needed is the key to better hydrated hair strands. ❤️

Ann Wanjiku: Now on my head after second chop. Pretty hair.
