What'S up guys, it is wash day today and i'm currently deep conditioning. I either usually do my wash and gos with the melanin hair care twist elongating style cream, followed by the multi use, multispur oil blend by itself or i'll top that with the flaxseed gel. But today i wanted to try something different. I had this the do mousse hanging around and i kind of wanted to try a wash and go with mousse. I'Ve never tried a wash and go with mousse. I usually always use gel if i'm trying to define my curls. So i'm really excited about this, so i'm gon na hop in the shower right now, i'm still going to be using my twist elongating style cream and my multi-use pure oil blend, because i feel like any time you use a mousse or a gel on textured hair. You really want something underneath that's going to nurture the hair nourish and like seal that moisture and provide some conditioning and moisturizing agents, and so that's what i'm going to use the butters for and then i'm going to use the mousse on top just like. I would a normal gel, so, let's get to it so my wash and go routine has always been really simple. I already washed conditioned and deep conditioned my hair in these large detangled sections, i'm out of plumping deep conditioner, i'm waiting on it. Just like all of you guys know, but luckily i was able to use the multi softening leave-in conditioner that can also be used to deep condition so working one detangle twist. At a time i release the hair and i'm gon na leave. This conditioner in my hair is a leave-in conditioner. After all, so now we just nourish and seal. I take enough twist elongating style cream to nourish the section working it in from ends and up the hair shaft. I'M spraying the section of hair with my diy mixture of aloe vera, gel and water. This helps to balance the ph and close the hair's cuticle to lock all that nourishing cream in. This is also going to help to bring my curl pattern back without having to use water that would dilute the product out of my hair, sealing everything in with the multi-use pure oil blend that also helps to soften and silk in the hair. Look how soft and supple my hair looks i'm so proud of melanin hair care guys. So now i'm completely coating the moisturized section with the do's mousse. I work it in carefully from the ends and up the hair, shaft being very careful not to disturb my curl pattern and that's it now repeat this process to each previously deep conditioned section on your head: untwist, the hair, if you're using the melon and hair care, Leave-In to deep condition you can leave that in otherwise rinse out your deep conditioner and apply a leave-in conditioner apply your favorite, nourishing, moisture cream or butter. It'S optional to balance and close the hairs cuticle with a diy mixture of aloe vera gel and water. Now, lock in all that, goodness, with a light oil blend sealant and now we just coat the hair in the defining mousse and just to note, if you're, not using mousse. This is where you're going to add your hair gel or you can just set the hair. Like this, if you don't want to use anything else, now, just repeat this process all over your head until all your coils and curls are treated distracting hold of our issues. Now, the only thing that i do to the front section that's different is i'll. Take a small section at the very front roots and twist it halfway down the front of my hair is the frizziest, so this just helps to tame and define the area at my roots, so it looks a little bit more sleek and that's it super juicy and Fresh, hey guys so fresh out of the shower, and here are my first impressions. It looks good so far, nice and moisturized with gel i'm really used to when i apply the flax gel. My hair, really condensing and kind of like flattening to the curls flattening together and almost getting ready to create kind of like a hard shell. I'M used to that. So this is definitely not a hard shell. I like that it moves around a lot, but it's definitely similar to how my hair is when i don't use gel like when i just use the moisturizing products on their own. I do see that there's a little bit more definition, but it's also very similar to how it feels without gel so i'll, be interested to see how it dries. But with that being said, it isn't as frizzy as it usually is. When i don't use gel like usually here, it would be super frizzy on top there's a little bit of frizz peeking through here, so i'll be interested to see how this dries, but so far it looks pretty good. So i'm gon na allow my hair to dry. I'M just gon na air dry it today, because i have to run out and get my kids and it'll probably be dry by tonight right before bed and then i'll stretch it before bed and um show you guys the results tomorrow, but so far it's not terrible. Not terrible at all, let's see how this develops over time and i will be back uh to stretch up my hair once this is fully air dried goodbye, all right guys, i'm about to go to bed. It is about 85 dry and it looks really good nice and defined it's definitely very similar to when i don't use gel. But i can feel that there's a little bit more hold and there's a little bit more definition and definitely less frizz than when i don't use gel. So i feel like moose is like if there were levels from lots of hold with gel to no hold at all. Moose is like right there in the middle, a little midpoint, which is it's nice to have that option, because i do like to do both gel and no gel wash and goes because sometimes you just don't want that much hold so having mousse as an option to Help kind of reduce the phrase that i want volume here, but i also want length i'm going to kind of do like a mix of a pineapple and banding, so my hair naturally wants to break here. This will be my pineapple and then on the bottom. I'M going to stretch this down and i'm going to put on my satin head wrap. This is a stretch satin head, wrap for melon and hair care in green waves. I believe, even if i try to try so hard final results guys. What do you think i like it? It'S pretty much like when i don't use gel on my hair, but there's slightly more definition. Usually when i don't put gel it's more frizz, so i definitely see more definition. I think that i should have let it dry all the way before i stretched it, because i think that caused a little bit more frizz than i would have had otherwise. So i think, next time i'll sit under my hooded dryer if it's not completely dry before bed, but i think i think it worked out really nicely. I think i will definitely keep playing with this. I never really used it for my own wash and go so i am definitely trying to play around with this, because i think it turned out really well and i think that there is a lot of potential. I don’t layer it with anything, but will try it with your products. I do braid outs though, still haven’t mastered the wash n go.

Iman Johnson: My go to is to use a botanical gel followed by a foam! It always gives me a long lasting (week long) wash and go! I also love a foam for my twists and braids. It gives me the perfect hold of twist/braid outs!
poppyshow1996: i recommend using it alone because it has humectants built in. The creator of the product has gone to great lengths to teach and demonstrate this. She's also a licensed stylist with 30yrs under her belt. Hope you consider trying the mousse alone. It does not disappoint.
1GoldenBreeze: I really like the mousse def for my WnG. It works just fine for me as a one-and-done with nothing under it. IDK for sure, but I think using a butter and an oil under the foam will cause a much softer hold from the foam. Sometimes I use it over gel to get a faster drying WnG.

Darlene R.: Hi Whitney! Your hair came out great. I have always used The Doux mousse def! It keeps your hair so soft with definition and mobility. My suggestion would be to take smaller sections or use more Doux because your hair is so thick. I also use a diffuser to elongate my hair and that leaves little to no frizz. The Doux is also black owned, which, I love. Adding your products with it just makes it that much better. I was so sad to hear the deep conditioner is delayed. Me and my daughter are so looking forward to using your new product! End of July seems like next year but, I’ll wait patiently-ish! Oh! One last thing…the green tea suggestion for less shedding seems to be working good. Thanks for the tip!
Christal Williams: I love how your hair turned out. It looks great. I love that doux mousse in my hair because it gives it volume, which I think most mousses are designed to do. Ive always known from an early age I had finer less dense hair so I used mousse for slick backs, and roller sets always (when relaxed). Now as a natural for twist outs and wng’s but it was always Pantene’s until I found out about The Doux-now that’s the only one I use. The hype over it is very warranted imo . TFS.
Dana WB: I just tapped into using mousse for my WNGs and I love it! I've never used gel, only leave-in, cream/butter, and oil. The drying took for ever!!! With mousse, my hair is dry in a few hours. I typically use a diffuser to dry the roots and stretch it a bit. Mousse has been a game changer.
Apara: I am a mousse wash and go girl!!!! I prefer that over gel which dries my hair out and cause breakage. I use Design Essential Almond and Avocado line mousse. It's excellent for curl definition and for sealing in the moisture of my wash day!!!!! My stylist recommended it to me last year. **disclaimer** for me, it's a light hold and everything falls apart when the weather is super humid.

I ended up with day 4 hair on day 1. Its good for a quick wash when you have somewhere to go and want big hair right away. I’d prefer a little more hold. So far, I like using mousse as a finishing step after gel, it helps make my curls even easier to clump and smooth after gel application and I feel like I can better control how my hair sets.

I’ve been noticing some breakage at the top of my head lately and I think it may be from how I’m banding I’m going to try what you did with “pineappling” the upper half and banding the bottom. Also - try Camille Rose’s honey & nettles curl foam - love it!!!

MsDHosley071: I like the Mielle Organics Pomegranate & Honey Curl Defining Mousse with Hold. It is so moisturizing for my 4c hair. I layer it with the Leave-in and the Twisting Souffle from the same line after washing with the line's shampoo & conditioner. Moisture on top of moisture!!!
Nykia Gross: I tried The Doux Mousse Def after seeing the brand on “Insecure”, and it was an epic fail. I’ll definitely try it again with the Melanin leave in. I know the directions say to use it alone, but some people just need LOTS of moisture for a good wash & go. Awesome tutorial as always!

TraciLynne: This and the honey version are my favorite mousses. I normally do a good deep conditioner because leave in and oil under these really impact the effectiveness. After my hair has dried completely, I use a little oil to scrunch out the crunch.

MsMels1: I would recommend watching her videos about how to apply; you definitely won’t get the expected results with all of the oils and cream you applied. It’s a leave-in, mousse, everything all in one. That aloe Vera spray you applied, all of that will impact the performance.

Coily Loxs: Hey there I can’t wait to try DC. I’m a little over 1 1/2 years natural I got my first curly cut last month at a salon outside of the Atlanta, GA area. She used a Design Essentials foam with Uncle Funkys Daughter gel. My hair was so . My coils look like she had finger coiled each curl individually. It made me stop obsessing over “how fast can I get my hair to grow”, because I’m a VIP member of team shrinkage!!! Now I still want hai down my back OF COURSE, but I’m more tolerant now because I saw how beautiful my coils can be. Now for me to figure how to get my technique game up about 5-6 levels . She used really small sections and told me that is what I must do to achieve MY best Wash n Go. I need to add some of your oil to my product stash. Love ya Giiiirl keep bringing that good good
