I think people put way too much emphasis on products and just very concerned that they're not going to be using the right products for their hair and while yes, products can definitely have an impact in your overall hair journey. I do not think that it's one of the most important things to retain and grow your hair. I think that one, the marketing from all of these companies makes us believe that we need a 10 step moisturizing or wash process when in reality, we likely only need a few products, and in the beginning, when i was getting started, i became that product junkie, where I thought i needed to get you know the absolute best deep conditioner, the best shampoo, so i would spend so much money on just trying to find you know these magic, 4c hair products and then over time i realized i can actually get by just fine, simplifying My routine to just a couple of products, saving money and saving myself the headache of having to constantly switch things up, so i'm gon na go over what i tend to use for my products. I wouldn't say that i found a holy grail in a lot of different areas, but i have found products that i work pretty consistently. If something better comes along, then i will switch to it, but as of right now, these are what i typically use. So this is the shampoo that i typically go to. I love anything that has tea tree oil in it, because it's really good for your scalp and i just love the smell of any kind of mint menthol eucalyptus. I love that in the shower. I find it to be really relaxing. It also gives it a really nice tingly feeling so anything with tea tree oil. I, like, i know that they say you're supposed to use all products in the same product line, but i don't always do that because sometimes i like a deep conditioner from one line and i like a shampoo for another line, and i don't. I don't really care. If i'm gon na switch it up and put them together, it's whatever, so i like the tea tree oil shampoo, but i don't think that their conditioner is conditioning enough for me. So my go-to conditioner for the past few years has been the tgin miracle mask. I really enjoy it. They use a lot of natural ingredients in their products like honey and aloe vera and the more natural i can get the better. So i do enjoy that and i find that my hair has a really nice conditioned soft feeling. Afterwards, it provides a decent amount of slip when i'm working it through my hair and overall, it hasn't done anything bad to me, so i've just continued to use it and because i'm not washing my hair every day, i have so much product that i have to Go through maybe once i finish this i'll explore products, i really want to try the 4c hair only line, but for right now, until this products finished, it's been my go-to for deep conditioning and i feel that it gets the job done if i'm doing a twist Out where i am going to be incorporating the loc method, then i like to use water as my liquid, either jojoba oil jamaican black, castor oil or the carol's daughter's oil blend as my oil choice and then for my cream. I really enjoy the camille rose butter or the miele's pomegranate twisting souffle butter. I think the camille rose probably keeps my hair a bit more hydrated, but the pomegranate twisting souffle smells so amazing that i will just continue to buy it for that alone, and i think that the difference between them is not enough to make me. You know switch over to the camille rose, so that's a big deal for me. I used to always do the liquid oil and cream method, but now i only do that if i'm wearing a twist out - and i want my hair - to have more of a layer of products for more protection towards the elements and to also try to reduce shrinkage. As much as possible, when i'm wearing my hair in a twist out when i'm putting my hair into a protective style, i simplify that routine down and i just use a liquid and an oil. So the two oils that i will use is either going to be jojoba oil. It'S the only oil that i like to use on my scalp jojoba oil is the oil that mimics our natural scalp oil, the closest i like that, because i don't think it's going to overclog my follicles as much as potentially a much thicker oil, but i think That the oil that has been the best at keeping my hair moisturized for a long period of time is real, authentic, black jamaican, castor oil, and i do not think that jamaican black, castor oils are all created. Equally, the black jamaican, castor oil that i like to use is made by a company called rooted treasure and they're actually based out of jamaica. I got this recommendation from a fellow 4c youtuber nap queen rest in peace to her. She was very pivotal in my early natural hair journey. She recommended this company and one thing that i noticed when using their product compared to other jamaican black, castor oils that i would just pick up at, like my local walgreens or cvs, the thickness, the consistency and the smell of the one made in jamaica. You could just tell it was real for lack of a better word. It smelled like real, jamaican black, castor oil. It kept my hair moisturized way longer. So if i'm looking for my actual hair strands to be extremely moisturized, i like to use that, but for my scalp i like to stick with a lightweight oil like jojoba oil. So when it comes to products, i really wouldn't worry about it too much. I do not believe that if you don't use these products that i'm mentioning that your hair is not going to grow a lot of, it really is going to come down to your own personal experience. So i can recommend that i'm using these products, but you may try them and not like them, or i may use them now and then in six months, no longer like them. The products are not what is going to actually grow your hair. They can help. Keep your hair moisturized, they can help. You know, detangling go a little bit quicker, but they're not going to be the biggest factor in you being able to grow and retain your length. I don't understand the concept of you have conditioner a deep conditioner, a leave-in hair milk, a cream like no, no shampoo, conditioner oil, cream or a butter, and you will be fine. I'M definitely not. On that whole. No oils, no butter cream wave that i've been seeing going around, but i do understand the concept of how product buildup can make it harder for our hair to absorb moisture over a long period of time. So again that goes back to you: don't need to overdo it. You only need a few products and less is more

03lowlah: I LOVE your video for so many reasons. No long introductions, you went straight to the point and it was very informative!!

Barbara Peller: I so so agree with you and I am so happy to see a YT touch on this issue. I stopped buying a lot of products for my hair about four to five years ago when I noticed, that none of them were making a difference in my hair. I went back to what used to work when my mother was doing our hair (added a few products), I have very dry hair and scalp so I started back using hair grease. I only use one product, I deep condition my hair once a month during shampooing, and I moisturize my hair daily with Aleo Vera juice, almond oil, and peppermint oil. Now because my hair tends to dry quickly, I use Shea Butter and oils mixed together three to four times a week and my hair is healthier than it has ever been, almost waist length. Now the one thing I noticed that I have been doing that I wasn't before (and it came about due to a serious medical emergency) is drinking a ton of water. I almost lost my life and the one thing the doctor told me to do was, drink at least 72 oz of water a day, this is when I noticed a lot of hair growth, great video and I pray that other natural hair ladies, listen and take heed.

Acey Powell: Love the video! I too was a product junkie. Less is for sure more!! I too want to try the 4c only hair care line as well!! Waiting until I finish what I have now to give it a try!

A Marie Jenkins HisBeloved: Thanks for this video. I am scaling down on products from 3 shelves down to one. My family is thanking me because they have not had to buy products. When they can't use them, I give unopened products to this nonprofit organization for abused women.

Sherri Okere: I used to be a product junkie until I learned how to make my own natural hair care products. I still use a few store bought products but not many. My hair and scalp likes simple ingredients I whip up in my kitchen. I guess you could say my hair likes home cooked meals. lol ☺️ You're right less is more.

Dayleeyah Kalonji: Great video, I subbed......even though I have locs, I love watching 4c women managing their 9ether good hair. +the fact that you featured rooted treasure jbc speaks volumes. It's the real deal (just like my great-grandmother use to make) it's not the thinned out versions that's very popular now a days. Your hair is beautiful btw and I agree, less is more. I learned that the hard way. Jojoba oil is great. I also tried baobab oil and OMG!! I swear it feels like it absorbs instantly but the moisture and how it makes your hair feel, just WOW. It's not cheap though but I love it. Love tea tree, it was my go to until I read about lemon myrtle essential oil. It's much stronger than tea tree so you use way less. It's more expensive too but I love it, smells great.

T Michele89: Yes I gave up on being a product junkie years ago. I simplified my hair products. Fro butter hair butter and black soap shampoo, Mimi’s curls oils, honeys handmade conditioner incorporated with henna sooq Ayurvedic herbs.

11kwright: OMG, from a woman to you as a woman you look like a Goddess Queen with that gorgeous natural hair and lovely looking looking face and cocoa skin. You are up their with the best of them. I so agree with you that black hair industry knows how desperate we are to grow our hair because we've had the least investment in our hair. Just look at TV adverts and that is still biased. However, all these new products like Miche etc claiming to be miracle products are a load of rubbish. I tried it and for the extortionate price it doesn't do anything. It's easy to achieve what they want us to think we can achieve when they are hairdressers and it's not like one can take a hairdresser out of ones bag at ones convenience. And yes, you don't have to use the same product from one line. Who sticks to that!! Thanks for the tip with the Jamaican Caster Oil as I've always thought rubbish of them - will try it. I was in awe when I saw your hair out with twist. You and a few other black women on Youtube have the hair going on that if you were on a Red Carpet amount the stars everyone's hair no matter what race would be background compare to yours, it's just beautiful hair looking. Thank you and I'm a fan because you keep it real and you are not superficial either.

Simply Andoime: I love this video!. Very early in my journey, I discovered one of my staple products and used it until the brand changed the formula. Quilty of being a rebel also . Thank God that I am at the stage of my journey where less is more. VO5 is my #1 pick! I even upgrade it to use as a deep conditioner.

Nae'Jessica Maner: I completely agree. My hair loves water more than anything, I found out if I don't wet it under warm to hot water it stays dry. I shampoo, condition, put a leave in/butter in and that's it. I need to try an oil next, but that's it. Les is definitely more!

Pandora McGee: I get so overwhelmed when I walk down the isle. I know I need something, but end up leaving with nothing because I never really know how to choose. I’ve started making my products at home to avoid the stress.

Acutely Aware: I love the Camille Rose Twisting Butter! Great video sis!

uberhaute_naturalz: If you live in a hot and humid area, you need more than oil or butter to set your style because they have no hold agents. You need a strong hold gel or cream based on the density and texture of your hair else your style won't last for 10 mins. Ingredients to look out for include Polyquaternium- 69, Polyquaternium- 55, Vp/va copolymer, Pvp, Acrylate Copolymer etc.

Vida25: I do my own gel from flax seeds by boiling them in water, and staring gel through muslin cloth, natural ingredients and does the job! does the job for me and curls are popping!! My go to hair products is Olaplex, expensive but worth it…

Monica J NYC: Exactly...Although I have 4C hair, I prefer to use the Mielle Rosemary Mint Shampoo and Leave-in Conditioner...As I swim an average of 4 days a week, I wash my hair at least twice a week, so I've lost patience with using four plus step routine every wash day...

Real Talk: Love this video, you spoke the truth, especially about Jamaican Black Castor Oil. Sorry to say, but what they sell in the stores is complete diluted garbage!!! It's fasle advertising by some labels when they claim its "original"!! Fortunately for me, I come from a Jamaican background, so when I go to Jamaica or if I know a family member or friend is visiting, I am always fully stocked. These stores will never get my pennies!!!

Indigenous Girl xo: I agree with you and there are two different hair types in my house but with me I use cheap stuff it seems to work cause my hair is very long now I have gotten in to making my own oils and butters. I don't think you need all the shampoos and conditioners to grow your hair. I think diet plays a roll in hair growth and having a good routine. Keep it simple

Browndigs69: Tea tree oil is my favourite oil too.

Marcia Williams: That's right,keep it simple as possible.We don,t need that much.Lovely video.Thx.

uberhaute_naturalz: Compare the Ingredients list of Aussie 3min and TGIN Honey Mask. They are 95% Identical. The formula might be different though

Semone G: Thank you darling for sticking with oils and butters lol

Semone G: Yeah I use the basics.. After I wash and condition I moisterize then seal....monthly hot oil treatments.... The thing is some people admitted that they can't help it when a new product come out they must have it... I more work on the chemistry keeping my hair healthy and growing it.....

Angela Brookins: I really think the MORE I wash my. The more it grows I wash at least twice a month but I learned early about buying a lot of different. Product yes I did bc I been. On my hair journey and 5yrs and some stuff I brought back then I still have a lot unopen

Cynthia Thomas: The best editorial on hair products

J K: What porosity does your hair has?

Janice Parker: I totally agree

Naythedoll: Thank you sis God bless you

saving gift: I like having thirty products to choose from in the bathroom and the 23 under the bed Then I make my own stuff as well

Talks With Turpui: Finally a REAL person ☺️

Namithalie Mendes: I like this hairstyle

Lilly T: Yasssss!!!!!!

jazzip: Tgin leaves my hair feeling stripped. Has anyone else experienced this?

Ginny Zovie: I don’t even have money for products for my 4c hair cos it’s so freaking expensive I tell u and I’m broke. I’m always managing my products

120paj: You are do right

Xo nyangasi: Good job.... Please advise on shading hair I don't know why my keeps shading....

Angela Brookins: I think everyone were a product junkie when you watch a Vedio boy OOO. Boy what ever they use I would have to have it I buy everything they use child I. Did that about twice never did it again

TheLovelyAfri: If you don't mind me asking, whats your ethnic background?

pienke _123: Is Tgin passed?

Bored Five: Did you say Rest in Peace as in someone died???
