How many of you want long, healthy hair? Oh you think you can have it well, you can it's attainable, don't let anyone else tell you otherwise, i'm feeling myself welcome to the 4c glow up episode. 1 4c hair doesn't grow. Forcey hair is ugly yeah, okay, conceited. Never that obsessed with my 4c hair, okay, yeah i'll, show you my rice, water, routine, my stretching routine, what i eat to get my natural hair longer and thicker, a quick oil braid out and then i'm going to catch a flight to my hometown, and i am Going to wake up in my childhood bedroom and i'm going to show you how my wonderful mother styled my hair for a night out and finally, i'm going to address it. I'M going to talk about the evil things. People say to foresee girls to shame them and make them think that their hair can't grow or is worthless. Another crazy thing that i've heard is that horsy hair is just meant to be short and broken. What i make videos for the girls that were convinced that their forcey hair was ugly, i'm confident in my 4c hair in all states and i'm unapologetic about it. You see. The first thing i mastered is the art of deep conditioning. So this is one of my favorite deep conditioning treatments i like to get a very nourishing deep, conditioner mix it with some aloe vera and a penetrating oil, and then i mix it all up. And then i go ahead and i apply it to my hair and for some more slip i'll often go over it with a regular conditioner, and today i wanted to try out a new product. So i'm trying out this garnier sleek and shine and i'm gon na. Let you all know how i like it. I did go to target to get this. I absolutely love going into target and trying out new hair products. I still love all the previous ones that i've used before, but i am an influencer, so i do like to review new products for you all. Once i learned how to properly deep condition. My hair, i found that shampoos were no longer stripping and i didn't get a lot of breakage anymore, so this might sound a little bit crazy, but tell me what the hell i feel entitled to long natural hair. I deserve it. It'S mine and don't misconstrue. My words when i say this: i'm not saying that people who don't have long natural hair and want it don't deserve it, but i'm saying that i personally truly feel that i deserve it and when i feel so strongly about deserving something i manifest it. You see when you're comfortable with everything about yourself. I mean truly comfortable the bad and the good to the point where the bad feels good manifesting is easy. So i went to whole foods because i've been looking for this black rice everywhere and finally, i called whole foods and they have it. I was so excited to find it because i really wanted to do this treatment with black rice, and this time i decided to add some rosemary to it. So i got that and i headed back to my place so initially i wanted to do rice, water treatments when i got back to my apartment, but i ended up just being tired for the next couple of days. So i've been applying paul mitchell, skinny serum as well as hair growth, oils to my scalp and just maintaining this blowout look and ultimately i ended up doing a cute oil braid out on my natural hair. So next you are going to see me doing the rice, water treatment after i get off the plane. Okay, so you guys are going to think i'm a little bit extreme, but i literally fly home like twice a month, and let me tell you why i love my community that i come from and i am very grateful for my upbringing. I never ever want to come across as being ungrateful, but unfortunately i didn't grow up in an area where there was a lot of diversity. So i moved, but i still love it here and i love visiting my family sending love to all the other black girls who grew up being the only black girl in the classroom. You'Re, not alone. I promise so here i'm going to show you all how i make my updated version of the black rice water. I wish i would have known this version earlier, because it is definitely more effective when you see the later clips you're going to see that i'm using an older version, which is not as potent so as you saw. I started off with two bags of black rice and then i add a pitcher of water and i kind of just mush it all together to get all the nutrients out of the rice, and you really want to do a very thorough job of this. So what you're going to do is just see me going in and mushing it in between my fingers and releasing it back into the water. Next, you are going to see me adding a mixture of essential oils. These are the essential oils that i prefer to use because they are proven scientifically to help grow your hair out and then, after i add those oils, i'm going to add a penetrating oil. The oil that i like to use is grapeseed oil and then i'm going to add some fresh rosemary. This, of course, is optional and of course, i scoop some out to save for later, because i don't want to waste all this water and have to make it again - and here you see me doing the older version that i used to do, and i just wanted To show you all this, because i just want you all to learn from my mistakes. I wasn't using the right rice, water back then, so it wasn't as potent as the one that i'm making now all right. So on to the hair braiding process, i sat down in the chair and, as per usual, i kind of just asked my mom to do whatever she felt like doing so. I had no idea what style she was going to do and she told me that she was going to do a style that she always liked to do when she was living in nigeria. So i was so excited to see what it would look like. I was extremely curious and i kept on feeling the braiding pattern and when i saw the end result, i absolutely loved it. It is absolutely gorgeous. I love this look and i haven't done cornrows in so long and i think i'm going to start doing them. Some more, i just feel like they really fit me, but i'm extremely tender headed so we'll see hello. So in this video, i also want to talk to you all about things that people say to foresee girls in order to discourage them from trying to grow their natural hair, long, thick and healthy. And i just wanted to make this video, because when i started to grow my hair out a lot of people said these discouraging things to me, but i really had to learn to just block them out and i just want to help anyone else who may encounter These type of negative things that people say you need to realize that what they say is not fact you create your own destiny, you determine where your journey is going, so don't let other people say negative things to throw you off or discourage you. One thing that you're going to hear a lot of people tell you, especially as someone with forcey hair. That'S trying to grow it out. Long, thick and healthy. A lot of people are going to tell you it's just genetics, you can't do it. It'S genetics and one thing that i want to, let you know is yes, it is genetic, but did you know, regardless of your race? Most people and most people being like 98, are capable of growing their hair to bra, strap length or longer, so the chances that you're in that small two percent is very, very slim, and this is regardless of a race. Just like height is genetic. Most people are capable of growing above three feet tall when people say it's: genetic yeah, it's genetic and most people in the world are genetically capable of growing long, healthy hair, and one thing you'll notice is that they won't bring up genetics until they see somebody who Has 4c hair or 4b hair, and sometimes even 4a, hair that is attempting to grow their hair long and healthy. Then, all of a sudden, they want to say negative things like. Oh, my god, it's genetics, you can't do it and it's like get out of my face. Do you know how many people told me that i would wouldn't be able to grow my hair long and healthy? Do you know how many people told me, because i'm nigerian that i wouldn't be able to grow my hair long and healthy, like there are so many people that said negative things to me? You just have to block it out and if you listen to those negative people and you let them get in your head, you're literally only hurting yourself. Why allow people to put negative things in your head? You are capable of what you believe you are capable of and if you don't believe, you're capable of growing long, healthy hair, then guess what the universe is going to keep breaking it off for you and putting obstacles in your way that you make it nearly impossible For you to grow your hair out, because you're going to be breaking it off somehow another thing a lot of people will try to do is shame you for wanting long, thick, healthy hair. There are so many tribes within the continent of africa where people grow their hair out long, thick and healthy. So don't let anyone shame you from wanting to grow your hair out long and healthy people have literally tried to shame me for wanting to take care of my hair, like just let that sink in like, and it's really it's really ironic the same people will shame You for wearing hair weaves extensions, wigs whatever, but as soon as you start to grow your hair out, then they shame you from wanting to have healthy hair. So, at the end of the day, just do what you want to do with your hair, because people are going to say negative things about it, either way. The one thing that i noticed that a lot of people do that don't take care of their hair or they don't know how to take care of their hair or they feel like their hair, is not capable of growing to a healthy length. What they'll do is say things like. Oh, i can't believe you're still trying to prove that your hair can grow long. That'S sad! That'S sad that you're trying to prove that your hair can grow long, and it's really just like ironic, because you spend so much time so many people say like oh yeah, you can never grow your hair long and then, when you do grow it long, then they Say, oh, my god, who are you trying to prove it to at the end of the day? There'S nothing wrong with being proud of your achievements, and it's growing your hair. Long and healthy is something that you are proud of. It'S something that you've achieved, something that you want to show the world. Don'T let anyone shame you for being proud of your achievements. You are allowed to feel good about yourself. You are allowed to chase your goals, no matter what your goals are. Another crazy thing that i've heard is that horsey hair is just meant to be short and broken. What like people, people literally say these things and i'm just like as soon as a forcey girl gets long, thick and healthy hair. A lot of people are always rushing to disqualify her from the 4c category because they need. I don't know what it is, but it feels like a lot of people need 4c hair to be deemed as ugly or dry or broken when it doesn't fit into that category. It makes a lot of people upset and it messes with the image that has been put into their mind by society, and the only way for them to find peace of mind is to exclude that person from the 4c category so that they can feel superior to 4C hair. So now i'm going to show you all this style that i love to make i'm not going to lie. I'M not the type of person who only eats salads, but when i do eat salads i like to make sure that they are packed with biotin omega-3s and protein. So i like to have some eggs in my salad, some avocado and definitely some quinoa, and i also replace the eggs with chicken at times, but you can do whatever you prefer and i add my seasoning and some oil and oh my god, looks so amazing. Thank you all so much for watching bye and if you haven't already check out my previous video bye,
