Hello. This is why Oh Lily, seven one, six or Sarah, and today I'm going to show you all the techniques and products I use when I'm styling my hair, what I'm curly here so, let's get to it, um I've, just you to sharp my hair is literally dripping With and what I did was I conditioner washed, which is scooping my scalp, both my fingertips to get rid of dry scalp and any product buildup. I like the Swap naturals my newest favorite scent is the pomegranate smells good, pretty and nice after that? I rinse that out and then I conditioned the length of my hair with generic value products. This is a knockoff of matrix mileage conditioning, but for some weird reason the letters are coming off. It'S really a good conditioner, really like it smells, doesn't smell like much smells pretty good and it's really moisturizing, and then I detangle with my fingers and nice wide tooth comb, and I start signing my hair right when I get out of the shower that frizz and The first thing I'm going to use as a leave-in conditioner and the locks should detangling - and this is kinky curly - is not today, leave-in conditioner, it's actually called a natural leavin, / detangler. I really love this conditioner, it's out not so easy and it's very moisturizing and I always got great curls one. Either. There'S a night coconut, you smell it's kind of snotty. Looking I just over to my hands, go on top of the whole hair and then I'm just gon na break any knots I have out with my fingers, especially in the back sorry, I tend to get done. I just like rake through my curls. Then you started to call punch, so I'm gon na dump some water back on my head with a cup and then I'll make all the girls come back. Good. Okay, just dumped a cup of water on my head, and now I get the cars back, we'll just scratch over back in keep a lot of moisture in throughout the day and more moisture Eagles, less frizz. So since I've got this on now, I'm gon na put in curly hair solutions, Kohl, keeper, which is like a really watery gel, and I really like this product, the smells a little funky, but you can't smell it after your hair is Bridal we're like other products, Full mass doesn't all this, so I'm gon na go about quarter sized amount and just rub my hands together. That'S the frizzies part of my hair just make sure it's all the way throughout a little bit more scrunching, oh, and this crowd gel is really good in the humidity, especially for preventing frizz. Is it year-round, but it is indispensable in this um we're good. I like to use trucks or gels, because I go through so much of it, there's no point in buying high-end stuff or, as I can justify it on the products. I don't use as much of this as le looks support job. It has a whole factor of ten plus, so it's great and like through wind and rain, and everything it holds your hair down. Sometimes, when I went a little bit less hold like a little softer pills, I like body and be by her blessings as that gel is really nice another one. My favorites is also the icy Fantasia gel. It says, with sparkle lights, it's clear, jealous um, but right now, I'm just going through old coaster, Tilson house trying to use them so I'm using this, and I would be dealing with the smell this. It'S a nice clean smell and it's blue. So I get about that much I'm going to smooth it onto my hair in sections of about three inches. You saw the top, and I just smooth down gon na get another dollop of gel around, and I go on to the next section - and this is a nice way to evenly coat your hair with product. When you don't have a ton of time. Take a Curly's towel, not a curly straw. My girls, like I stopped, and I'm going to crunch out the extra water. These are shaped like Mouse, so you can rotate them once you're done scratching with the section, and I just keep doing that until the towel is pretty much I'm wet through, so you can use on. Instead of this, you can use a cotton t-shirt, which is fine, though you don't want to do, is use a terry cloth towel, because all the little fibers gon na tear across the top see all those fibers they just like pick out little tiny pieces of hair And give you more frizz just like this water at some point in my routine, so that my hair would dry a little okay. Now that I've got most of water out of my hair, I'm gon na go back and refine some girls with the skipper method. I have a whole video on that, but I would do just a little explanation and this just helps to get marks on the girls and the curls under parts of my hair, a lot of coarser, so they don't curl us nicely. So this is, what did you and you just start at the top twirl down, throw it back up, hold it for a minute. Let it go and you get a really nice girl, it's all curled and I'm not gon na go back and discuss any more. This they're not would check out something I skip crows a little. So no I'm done doing my hair, it's pretty fast and could be even faster if I wasn't explaining it yeah. But now I'm going to pop my hair: do that I'm going to use this curly style and then I will probably diffuse a little and then I'll be telling. So that's how I get my curls every day and it's great routine. I like it! What works for you? If you try it leave any comments or questions, requests or anything down in the comments or shoot me a private message. So that's it! Yeah, bye,

A Guthrie: I just wanted to say thank you for making these videos. This February marks 1 yr. of CG for me (all due to this video). I just never knew what to do with my hair. When I found this video, it was amazing because my hair looks EXACTLY like yours!!! I went out and bought these products and have never looked back! Thank you, Thank you!!!

Samantha Gamble: really great tips!! i tried it myself and it worked great, i even tried the gel and it worked wonders....thanks!!

Melissa Solares: Thank you, thank you, thank you for the subs!! I always have to try to translate the "videos de Sarah" to my mom, so this is a huge help!!!! You are so awesome :D

NerdyHope: Hello! I started using the curly girl method. It's been 3 weeks since I started and it's working pretty well; I'm using Suave shampoo with almonds and shea butter for damaged hair and Suave coconut conditioner, I must say it's working! :D. There is something that I wanted to know, there's something going on with a specific area of my hair, it feels kinda' crunchy, any tips on what should I do to take that crunchyness away?

Waterlily716: @JourdanBader Yay :) I get some intense tangles too--right at the back of my head. I find it helps to get my hair wet and saturated with conditioner. Then go in layers and use a fine toothed comb so you can really get at those knots.

Waterlily716: @Heendd Have you tried the Tresemme Naturals Conditioner? It's CG and in most drugstores. You could also take a basic conditioner and mix it with equal parts of honey to make it more moisturizing, such as the enliven you were talking about. Hope that helps!

Waterlily716: @JourdanBader Yup- I usually don't blow dry though. :) I also use a cotton cloth to scrunch out extra moisture before I plop. Don't worry--you'll get the hang of it :)

Milena: How much time pre day does your curly routine usually take?

ummrania: Thank you for all the videos, I am going to start tonight using the curly girl method. I have been using Pantene for years and thought it was great for a long time, but I really feel now (after years of use) that my hair is trashed, and am ready to fix it. I have a question about styling while wet, but not like what you mentioned. is it ok to like just comb your wet hair up into a bun or braid? I always have to have my hair up and its just easier to do while wet, is that ok? Thanks

x: How much time do you usually spend on your hair? I share a bathroom with my family, and I have about an hour in the morning for my hair. Also, when I go to camp I will have very little time to style my hair. Any advice? I love your videos, and thank you for introducing me to the CG method!

Waterlily716: Well I wash my hair every other day, so on non wash days it takes about 10 minutes or less. Showers are 15 minutes or longer if I have time. Styling takes about 10 minutes. Then I plop for awhile while getting dressed/makeup. It definitely doesn't take me more than an hour. :) When I'm at camp I just put my hair up in a braid or bun and wear a big headband. Hope that helps :)

Waterlily716: The best way to avoid triangle head is to have a good haircut (usually long layers), keep the hair moisturized, and use good styling products for your hair. Styling short curly hair is not terribly different from longer hair. If you want more tips for curly hair check out my "tips for frizz free defined curls" video. :)

Waterlily716: @TheSexy0311 Hello! :) I'm glad you like my videos. One thing you can do is use a strong hold gel and don't scrunch out the crunch. That way your hair will stay perfect! :) good luck :)

Emily Hein: I LOVE your hair. Mine is very similar but thinner than yours. I've been straightening for years and your videos make me want to wear my hair natural. What tips do you have for someone who has below shoulder-length hair? I want to avoid triangle curls. I feel like short curly hair makes me look younger... any tips for styling short curly hair?

Waterlily716: 15-20 minute shower, 10 minutes styling, and I spend 10-20 plopping. On second day or third day hair it takes about 5 minutes though :)

stuffstuffstuffyay: awesome vid! i love watching your vids, this one had really good sound too. my hair is similar to yours just not as curly, i have all the products you use but havent used them in exactly that way.. I find LASLG sometimes a bit too crunchy, maybe the CK helps? I am going to try this :) and will see, thanks!!! Also can you do more reviews? maybe your top ten fave or something? i love your 2 part vid on all your stuff but if you did that but with detailedish reviews too it would be soooo awesome!!!

Waterlily716: @xomadisonn Hi there! :) I think you are correct in your idea that your conditioner contains sillicones. This is causing buildup, and the matted look, most likely. I think you must've heard about Tresemme naturals conditioner, which is CG, and gotten it mixed up with the Tresemme curls conditioner. That one contains dimethicone, cyclopentasiloxane, and cyclohexasiloxan, which are silicones. You can tell because they end in -one, -xane, or -conol. So I would clarify with sulfate and get a new...

theshellest: i'm so glad you got another video out. i love the editing! yay! only... when you were doing the skip curl method (one of the most important parts) you didn't let us see anything... just that one small curl hidden underneath all the other hair. and show us pictures of you from the front! :)

Waterlily716: the change in your hair could be due to heat damage, or it could simply be your hair texture changing over time. it is hard to disentangle the two. if you haven't used heat in awhile, i would guess it's just a natural change in your hair. with that being said, proper care and moisturizing for curls can help it to be stronger and grow out healthily. :) there are ways to style your hair for more volume, but TLC generally doesn't change hair thickness, unfortunately. hope that helps!

jellyrcw12: You are really pretty and have super awesome hair, keep doing what you're doing :)

Waterlily716: @passionknitgirl Hellooo! I do put a little gel on the roots of my hair, but not as much. That section generally doesn't rebel as much so I just graze my hands over it. My hair is naturally poofy uptop, so I don't use clips, but I have noticed better overall volume evenness when I plop--I have a vid on that. I only use hairspray when I heat style which is rare. Hope this helps :)

whats4dina: Hi Sarah, can you please tell me what you think about using extra virgin olive oil on my hair after i shower while its still damp? Do you think olive oil will cause build up on my hair the same way silicones do? thank you!!

Waterlily716: I didn't rinse it out completely. I merely got my hair wet again to reintroduce the curl pattern. A quick rinse leaves most of it in.

Jourdan Bader: @waterlily716 Well I do this so much now and my hair looks SOOOOO much better, thank you! Question: I had SO many tangles at the crown of my head and they are like... as thick as my thumb tangles and they hurt so much. I dont know what I should do?

Waterlily716: Yes, if you want your curls less clumpy, of course you can do that. One thing you can try is raking your hands through your curls when you apply the products and then scrunching or twirling. You can also apply the product and then run a brush through your hair for a more separated look.

Waterlily716: @ummrania Oh, right. Yes, that's fine too. Wearing your hair up is actually less damaging than down because you don't have to detangle it later. :)

Waterlily716: @aikomarcial you don't necessarily need to discount tips from those with other curl types as long as your hair is similar in other more important ways than curl pattern. Most hair experts argue that porosity, elasticity, thickness, coarseness, etc. are more important than curl pattern.

Waterlily716: @chilil57 Hey! I have several ideas for you to try out. :) And I'm assuming you don't want to flat iron your hair or get it chemically relaxed since you're asking me with the curls, lol. :) Anyways, if you make to make your hair grow faster I recommend trying GNC ultranourish hair vitamins. I personally know they work. :) As for preventing the shrinkage you mentioned, you can try a product called extenzz by curly hair solutions. I've never used it but it's supposed to elongate curls.

passionknitgirl: Hi Sarah. I have been enjoying your videos. I'm new to CG and find I have learned alot from you! I would like to know if you are putting gel on the roots of your hair, too. Can't really tell in the video. Also, wondering if you use clips in your hair to get shape or lift. What about hairspray? Thanks!

laugh2live1230: I just had a question.. after your hair dryes, is it really hard and crunchy because of the gel, or no?

Waterlily716: @elizabell921 if you check my profile i have a list of all the products i'm currently using. :) i like the regular conditioner from that garnier fructis line. :) i'm not much on deep conditioning, but it is great to do for curly hair. i have a video about growing long curly hair--check out the curly hair basics playlist on my profile. hope this helps :)

sherouk kamel: @waterlily716 Hi :) I have thick medium length curly hair ,, do I have to cut into layers so I can get better results ? thanks :)

ablackrabbit2008: Im shocked you get such great results by just smoothing the gel over your hair and scrunching. I have thick hair like yours and Im always so worried I will miss parts so I rake it through. Maybe Im using too much product. Ill have to try smoothing

Waterlily716: Different strokes for different folks. If you have longer curly hair you have to add in extra time to detangle the hair and distribute the styling products evenly throughout the length so of course it's going to take more time. Remember that one product regimen may work wonderfully for one head of curls, but not for the next. This is what works for me...

correcttech: aaahh i see. would you say these methods will help hair become stronger, thicker and longer? my hair used to be thick and really curly like yours when i was a kid but now it's all thin/fine and sort of wavy curly thanks to me blow drying and flat ironing my hair almost everyday when i was a stupid teenager. haha

Jourdan Bader: @waterlily716 This is the second time I've done it. And I can slightly notice a difference. It isn't 100% perfect, but I noticed definate change =3 Love you for this xD

Dredsina: Wow, your hair is like the same as mine!!

Fatima V: I just wanted to say that i love your hair... But after your done with applying hair products and plopping does your hair get frizzy at all or does it feel silky? btw my hair is between curly and wavy.. Everytime i apply product when its wet i let it dry down freely i dont plop it but it still gets frizzy.. I want it to stay nice like yours. I feel self-concious wearing it down :(

Waterlily716: @SuperPeacelovemusic I don't shampoo my hair very often at all; it's very drying. I use a gentle cleanser about once a month. I massage my scalp with conditioner every day in the shower. Google "curly girl method wikihow" for more information. If by wash you mean wet your hair, it's every 2-3 days.

NievesChik: Ok, my hair is almost exactly like yours! Hers my question.... Is the kinky leave in conditioner oily cuz I wasn't sure if it was too heavy on my hair??? And also, my hair is completely flat the next day curl so I have to release & style. Do you have this problem???

Rachel: ok i have been on cg method for a while and my hair is still frizzy and i dont have distinctive curls.i have some but it is hidden by frizz.what should i do?

Waterlily716: @ryanri123 If anything I tend to use less gel in the winter, because it's less humid out and my hair tends to be less voluminous/frizzy. I tend to use more conditioner because the cold temperatures can take a lot of moisture out of the hair. But you can use thicker consistency products in the winter, when you would want to use thinner ones in the winter. I PM'd you a super helpful link about this. :)

Waterlily716: @MitchieMouse77 One your hair is all the way dry and you scrunch it, your curls will be soft not hard. :) and a separate leave in conditioner is totally not necessary! :) i've started using my regular one for that too.

ninaiscool13: Me and u have like the same kind of curls:) but when I get out the shower I now use LA looks because I see that it leaves my hair looking better than other gels and after I will sometimes put hair spray but I don't have to anymore since I started using LA looks during the summer I don't really straighten my hair as much but do prefer to hav long curly hair or short? Cuz when u straighten your hair it pulls ur curls an makes ur hair longer and im kinda trying to keep it growing what do u think?

Kristy Marcus: I have naturally curly hair, but I think if I had to do this much work, I would probably pay for a chemical straightener. I wash & condition with Ouidad balancing shampoo & conditioner (DevaCurl is realllllly good, too) & then use their Climate Control gel. My hair is shorter, so I use a dollop about the size of a 50-cent piece, smooth it over my hair & then scrunch as I diffuse. I try not to brush/comb or finger-comb my hair because that disturbs the curl pattern. Less than 10 min and I'm done!

Waterlily716: I do get a little bit of frizz after my hair dries all the way, but not a ton. :) The confidence to wear your curls down will come-- but you will have to wear it out a bit so the strange feeling wears off. I used to feel like that too. Check out some more of my videos-- like my ten tips for frizz free curls. And feel free to tell me what types of shower/styling products you are using.

Rashida ShidaNatural Godbold: i Waterlily... So glad you're back making video. Your hair has grown so much since your last haircut. How's school?

Waterlily716: @segarmini55 your hair wants moisture! (or maybe protein if it is damaged. or both!) try deep treatments and lotso conditioner. be sure to use a leave in conditioner under your styling products!! also you may want to upgrade your styling product to one with a higher hold. i recommend la looks sport gel. for a crazy hard gel there is biosilk rock hard gelee! good luck :)

Morgan W: i have curly hair like you except mine becomes a LOT more frizzy and course when it dries and i found something to help that is to section the hair off and out the product in (:

08magnemite: @waterlily716 what about oil replacement cream from pantene ?or the hair creams in general, what do you think of them? and also, what do you think about hair masks?

Waterlily716: @chilil57 ok, the last thing you could try, and this is probably the most realistic, is to braid or twist your hair into lots of sections while it's wet, sleep on it, and then take them out in the morning for looser curls. this takes a bit of work, but it works very well. search "twist richeau" and the first result should be a twisting tutorial. or you can just try braiding, which you already know how to do. good luck!!! sorry to write you a book, lol. :)

Waterlily716: @moonlightangels343 Hi :) Could you PM me with the products you are using and how you apply them to your hair? I can't give you accurate advice without something to start with! Triangle head is often a sign of dry hair that is not styled well! I agree with the long layers tip though. :) Sometimes the change of seasons or change in hair texture from age can change our hair, and we have to be ready to change something up in our routine in return.

cocodanadventures: is it okay to wash your hair every single day ? or should i alternate days ?

Waterlily716: @cocodanadventures It is fine to conditioner your hair everyday, if you need to rewet your hair to style. I would not shampoo every day, because that is too harsh. Try to cut it down to every other day or less. :)

Waterlily716: @sika241124 Long layers work well in curly hair, but if you don't have problems with too much volume, then you don't NEED of course. I do think they work well for curly hair.

Katelyn Peabody-Young: Could you use the suave to condition the rest of your plus your scalp

Waterlily716: @xomadisonn conditioner, such as the GVP matrix one. The Tresemme naturals one is OK, but not as moisturizing. I hope that clears things up. Please private message me with any more questions. The comments section is not very friendly towards long discussions lol. :) ~Sarah

Waterlily716: @morganwtk cool, i tend to do my hair in sections too (well somewhat). you should check out the curly girl method--that's why my hair is so healthy. either google it or watch my videos about it. :)

Waterlily716: @TVQUEEN01 yup! i have a pantene mousse now i just haven't tried it. stay tuned for the review. :)

Waterlily716: @143Dabomb call up your local organic foods store, like whole foods to see if they have it. that's where KC is usually sold, although sometimes they don't carry it. you don't need to plop your hair, but my hair just doesn't look quite right if i don't.

08magnemite: but doesn't the gel cause hair loss??

Waterlily716: @08magnemite i haven't tried that pantene product, and i don't usually use creams, because i don't think they would have enough hold for my curls. i tend to wear a leave in conditioner under my gel. i use hair masks occasionally- they're good for the hair.

Waterlily716: nope! my hair is somewhat porous, so it soaks everything up. it doesn't get greasy or crunchy from the product. if your hair is less thick, you may want to apply product. and if your roots get greasy, of course you want to avoid applying moisutrizing product there. :)

Waterlily716: Usually I would say no, and to get a more moisturizing conditioner. If you have thin curls that aren't dry, it might work, but the suave is a very light conditioner and usually the length of the hair needs more moisture to help prevent frizz.

Dahiana: how often do you wash your hair?

ummrania: Thanks for such a fast answer, but I didnt mean can I comb it, I meant can I like put it up while its wet, like just get out of the shower, comb it and braid it or put it in a bun or pony tail while wet and just leave it?

Waterlily716: @133anne no, at no point in time can your run your fingers through your hair once dry. it will mess up the curl pattern. :)

Waterlily716: @Aelitafan10000 I only use the conditioner cause it's cheap and provides good lubrication for scrubbing my scalp; it doesn't stay in my hair throughout the day and it's not my main moisturizing conditioner. I've never tried many other products in the line.

SellyNue: YAY! I finally found somebody on the YT that has my hair type! What is your hair type, it looks so close to mine. I totally subbed!!

sneese420: with not having a hair cut in a yr and a half(shaved head originally, then decided to let it grow) i think its time i go see a stylist ive been given the prestiges nickname of sideshow bob at work cuz of my frizzy curly hair

Waterlily716: @cutecurlytop409 i don't think it's your products or the scrunching that are causing the frizz necessarily. are you using a cotton cloth to scrunch out moisture? a regular towel will cause frizz. it's perfectly normal for some of the product to come out during scrunching. you may need to reapply a little gel. hth :)

Waterlily716: @ninaiscool13 i like my hair both short and long, but i like long better because it's easier to do lots of different hairstyles. it's really a personal decision. i have an old video about the pros and cons though.

Waterlily716: @ShidaNatural I'm glad to be back too! I'm about to chop a lot of this hair off again lol. :) School is good--I'm almost done with highschool forever!

Arlyn Jimenez: what would you recomd for frissi curly hair???

Waterlily716: @08magnemite no--that's a complete hair myth. i have been using gel for years and my hair is just as thick as it ever was. gels can be drying if they contain alcohol, but that's pretty easy to avoid.

Waterlily716: @08magnemite no--that's a complete hair myth. i have been using gel for years and my hair is just as thick as it ever was. gels can be drying if they contain alcohol, but that's pretty easy to avoid.

Waterlily716: @sturockify swimming is hard on curly hair, but with some extra TLC your hair will be great. :) first off, do you use a swim cap to help keep some of your hair out of the water? you also may want to get your hair wet and conditioned BEFORE you go swimming, to help protect it. use a sulfate free shampoo that removes the chlorine but does not strip your hair. upgrade your conditioner to a deep conditioner or a very moisturizing one. PM me if you have more Qs! HTH!

Jourdan Bader: While your hair is dripping wet, put in the products, then plop your hair for a few minutes, then blow dry your hair until its 80% dry? I hope I did it right today *Looks at my hair and whimpers*

Waterlily716: @MitchieMouse77 using conditioner to cowash or just regualr codntioner? either way, it wont make your hair fall out more. :) if your gel flakes try using less gel. this one never flakes for me. :) i'm glad you've stopped using shampoo. :)

Waterlily716: @whats4dina No olive oil is water soluble and will wash out. :)

Waterlily716: The same way I was getting everywhere else... I smooth on the products.

Waterlily716: @curlyorlie It's LA looks sport gel. It's just a cheap gel, yeah, but I think it's marketed towards women. I usually wash my hair in the morning, but you might try plopping your hair overnight. I made a video on that a little while ago.

Beauty Sunshine: do you think mousse is better or gel? you got beautiful hair!! i use pantene pro v gel but, would like to use gel

Waterlily716: @stuffstuffstuffyay the microphone helps alot. yeah, the one thing i like about the crunchiness is that i can actually get second day hair. :) more reviews. got it.

Fatima V: I hope so because i let my hair free but then i just feel like I have an afro. I'm trying to do this thing wear i have to wear it down clipped so I can get used to wearing it down. The Products that I use: Organix sulphate-free shampoos, organix cocunut oil, VO5 moisture milks conditioner, l'oreal sulphate free leave-in conditioner, and drugstore gel ( alcohol-free).

whats4dina: @waterlily716 Thank you :)

Lindsay Bobbett: @EEmony Me too! It's scary how similar her hair looks like mine!

Waterlily716: @domokonlovergirl it seems long because i have to explain everything to yall. i can shower and do my hair in about 30 minutes if i need to. then i would plop for ten minutes while i got dressed and makeuped. since i'm in college i usually do my hair after my first earlier class and i make use of second day hair a lot. :) i am too lazy to wake up and do my hair most days.

Waterlily716: @ummrania Good for you! :) Yup it's fine to comb web, as long as you are gentle.

Milena: Thanks :)

Waterlily716: @laugh2live1230 Nope, it's pretty soft. If it does get crunchy I can just scrunch it out.

Waterlily716: @xkristenxx3 the leave in is not cg, but the sleek n shine conditioner is and it one of my favorites. :)

Waterlily716: @domokonlovergirl i would leave in some of my conditioner and sleek my hair back into and updo with some gel. :) nothing fancy.

Elektra: Hey um lately my hair has been having a triangle shape to it ad I'm wondering why an how I can get rid of it everybody says to get my hair cut in layers but I already got my hair cut really well a few months ago and it hasn't had the triangle look for a long time until now and it's really annoying me so can you give me any advice on how to get rid of my triangle shape hair oh and by the way my curls are in between Botticelli and corkicelli

Waterlily716: @pinktullip1 You're welcome. :) I got mine through a blog contest for free, but you can buy them at curlslikeusdotcom or curlmartdotcom. It's 20 for two on the original site and 24 for two on curlmart.

Waterlily716: @ryanri123 YAY! I'm so glad to hear that :)

Waterlily716: @Jerseyhsemper Unless it's a two in one products, conditioners really DON'T contain sulfates. That would make the product a shampoo. :)

Waterlily716: I have a video on this just search "curly hair accessories" in the search bar above. :) Brown is a neutral so any color goes with it.

Waterlily716: @msScar13 3a or b depending on the day :)
