Here are the steps I took in cleansing my hair:

•Pre-poo with Extra Virgin Coconut Oil and V05 Strengthening Conditioner for a couple of hours

•Clarify hair with Giovanni 50:50 Hydrating Clarifying Shampoo

Although I did not have a lot of buildup, I still felt the need to totally clarify my hair since it has been a while since I cleansed it.

•Used rinse out conditioner, Trader Joe's Tree Tea Tingle Conditioner to invigorate my scalp and soften my hair. The clarifying shampoo does not contain sulfates, however, it can feel a bit hard to the hair. This conditioner helps to soften the hair again.

After protective styling, you should always incorporate a protein treatment into your wash day. This is because it will strengthen your hair and help repair any damage done to your hair strands. I decided to try out a new product, Aphogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor.

Hi, everyone welcome to discovery natural I've been with a protective style for the past three weeks now, and this is it. This is what it looks like. I just kind of folded it away like this and I am so ready to take it out because I miss my hair so much, but I'm going to share with you what I do up to when the protective style I do here. Look at my protective styles. Longer than two weeks, but this time I want you to push it further, so that I can give you more detailed information regarding what went on with my hair, with my hair, this hair, that I used it's a very, very soft here. It'S not heavy at all. So I do have any problems in terms of weight in terms of how it felt. However, one thing I noticed because I wash my hair once a week. One thing I noticed is that my hair on my scalp wanted to get cleansed after one week. I started each my scabs a little each and I was just like. Ah, so what I did was I made a mixture of extra virgin olive oil, tea tree oil, peppermint oil and I think eucalyptus oil and I shook it together and I put it on my scalp. I massage my scalp with it and I feel better. I think up to like two days or so my scabs, I deduct him well and the itch was gone. So what do I do when I'm ready to take out this hair? The first thing is that even no matter how much you moisturize your hair or cleanse your hair during the process of wearing it during the time you wore it, so here we'll still feel a little bit drier than, if you add your own wil hair out. So the first thing you want to do is you want to split your hair with just a little bit of water. You can put some oil in the water, but you want to split your hair a little bit after that and what I'm going to do is detangle the hair. So you listen up so I'm going to loosen up my hair and loosening up my hair. I will now take extra virgin coconut oil slider, that onto my hair and then for more moisture, I'm going to use my vo pride, strengthening conditioner and put it on that just to soften it up so put a shower cap on my hair and also a knitted Hat and I'll keep that on for a couple of hours under missing what I'm doing that is almost like a pre-poo and what I'm doing is I'm actually letting my hair something by itself so that it doesn't get so hard when I'm when it's time for me To detangle, so I'm trying to be insulting. I will proceed to detangle in my hair once my hair is thoroughly detangled, i will clarify my hair now. Clarifying your hair is removing any build-up and I'll be using the Giovanni 50/50 balancing hydrating clarifying shampoo. This does a really good job at not stripping my hair and I'm not making it feel super dry after clarify my hair, because my hair has been in a protective stuff for so long. I need to strengthen it back up. I don't believe in putting in braids or putting on extensions and then washing off your hair and then putting them back in in Italy. It is very important for you to give you a his some kind of rest, because your hair kind of gets a little bit weak from all the weight of the extensions and start it works for some people. But I don't believe that you should go back to back to back put it in extensions now, next that our next thing I'm going to do is, I will now do a protein treatment on my hair and the protein treatment I'm going to be using will be The apogee of keratin two-minute Reconstructor - this is my first time of using this. I usually would use either our abri organics or make my own mixture, but I'm going to use this product just because I'm going to try it out and I've heard some really good stuff about it. So do a protein treatment and we'd protect treatments. Your hair will tend to when the color will tend to harden off. So you do want to balance it off with some moisturizing deep conditioner. The moisturizing deep conditioner I will be using, will be the Shea Moisture ten-in-one renewal system, and this will give me a lot of moisture that I need for my hair. So that is my array of products I'm going to use when I'm done washing with my hair. I would then do my normal post wash process, which is doing the loc method and then starting up my hair in twists just for the week or so, and then I can decide what else I need to do to it. So I do hope this really helps you out. If you have any questions post down below and please let me know how long have you ever want a protective style? If you want to know how long this doll is, it's been one for three weeks and I try not to go past three weeks or even four weeks is the maximum I will ever go. So. Thank you so much for watching check us out on Instagram and also make sure that if you don't follow us on Instagram, fours and I'll check your channel or I'll check your page. Thank you so much for watching. I will see you in the next video thanks for watching bye.

curlykiki: 4:23 i definitely agree. a break is so good for our hair, even a break from a break (protective styling)!

Cherished Daughter: I wore braid extensions for at least a year straight.  I would take them down after 3 months and put them right back in.  I had no problems, by the grace of God. My hair flourished.  However, I agree with you.  I don't recommend it.  It can be so stressful to the hair and I have seen some horrible consequences in others, especially to the hairline.  Cornrows/goddess braids not done tightly and with too much hair seemed more gentle than the long box braids.  Kinky twists were the lightest and most natural looking.  I loved those.  I've heard that yarn braids are super light, but I have not tried them.

theobe: what a very helpful video! Thank you so much... I am actually on my last day of my box braids (they need to get out although I ´"only" worn them about 4 weeks, Iusually let them in for about 6-7 weeks!)

TheSimplyexquisite: What “let your hair rest styles” after protective styles do you recommend for little girls in school?

Quietstorm91: Excellent Education! Thank you for this! I generally keep my hair in a protective style anywhere from 3 to 4 weeks. After taking down the braids, I give my curls tlc. I also use the Aphogee.

Fine Natural Hair and Faith: Your hair is growing so nicely. I could never make it past a week and a 1/2 of protective styling lol no i lie. It was 2 full weeks! And I never add hair but my hair just does not like being bound for too long. These are great tips. that oil mix is a great scalp stimulant :-)

AshVsAlex: Hey, I've had my protective style for 6 months now...... looking forward to seeing all my growth

Empress Nelle: Ok!!! So I just took down my protective style braids last nite! After 6months of every two weeks of washing, rebraiding and detangleing consistently! I know my hair has to rest now! It grow alot, normal shedding, its very healthy ♡♡♡ I just need to color it now!

Natural Since Birth: I agree, 2 weeks and I'm ready to take it down. My mom thinks that's too short but, after my hair sits past that time my hair "yells" at me (Yeah the personification I've given my hair). So I know how my hair is, its extremes and lows. Great info, thanks.

SammySingally: I usually keep a protective style in for 3-4 months before i take them down. However, I am going 5 months with my current one as I'm attending a ball in July and I feel that my protective style needs to look as new as possible then. Whenever I take down my protective style, I go AT LEAST a week protective style-free. I do wear bantu knot outs and African threading, but more of the time, my hair's up in a bun or something and I don't touch it. I just let it do its thing and rest before I reinstall my protective style.

Agosque Uzodyke: What oils did you use in your oil mix? Love your videos. Very informative

Naturally Dunn: 4 weeks is long enough for me for wearing protective styles. I enjoy washing and conditioning my hair so when 4 weeks comes, it's time to take the style down.

Bri: I wore the faux locs style for around 7 weeks. I'm going to take a week break and do Havana twists. I would take a longer break but I'm going to my friends wedding.

Robbin Pickron: I have to detangle my dry hair the night before I go to the salon because it takes over an hour to get the dead hair out & I don't trust someone ripping my hair out at the salon because they don't know my hair like I do. First I put oil on my hair & then finger detangle my hair & then I comb it out with a wide tooth comb to minimize breakage. Do you know a better way to detangle my dry hair?

Judith Wiafe: i keep my protective styles on for about 2- 3 months, cause people make fun of my natural hair

SCdefeater: Unfortunately ive gone 3 months but i do wash my hair during the protective stye. I actually find my hair grew faster during that time.

MzEveyStylez: In my case, i try to do 8 weeks but never get there.lol So the longest is 5_6weeks which is all i can handle. Honestly i start missing my hair after two weeks.

Catina Hawkins: Awesome job !!! Thank you !!!

Paulena White: Perfect timing I'm taking out these crotchets great tips!!!

Izirouwa: I usually wear my braids and the are not big they are like small and medium size. And it is usually in for about 1-3 months usually 2 months though. And when ever I take it off I get a headache but I go natural during the spring, summer, and fall during winter my mom recommends a protective style because here in Canada we have quite harsh winters

Emma Thomas: Back in the day when I had the patience to take out extensions I have worn a protective style for as long as a month.  Lately I have only worn my twists for 2 weeks. I like you miss my hair too much.

Rosannasfriend: Great tips!

Adeola Adegbusi: i have a similar oil blend. and yes, my scalp starts tripping after a few days of installing braids, though it doesn't behave that way with just my hair. so i'm thinking i might be allergic to braids? But yea, i do an intensive cleanse after I take down braids

Vanessa K: Thanks for the tips

ria james: Love the hairstyle

J. Salsa: Great video!

Vanessa K: My hair ALWAYS itches after oiling my scalp. I don't know why that happens. It never fails, it doesn't matter when or how I apply the oil. It just itches right after or several days later. I might be allergic. It's even worse when the oil is applied to my edges. My edges becomes flaky and scaly. The flakiness doesn't appear all over my head just along certain part of my edges. ANY SUGGESTIONS besides consulting a dermatologist? They don't know much about scalp disorders anyways.

Chef Lola's Kitchen: Hi thank you for the nice hair tutorials I just couldn't reject the temptation to subscribe. I need help with my hair. I have been natural for a little over 4 years now but I have a little spot in the middle of my hair that doesn't grow I have tried different things including having to cut my hair 2 different times but this has not helped either. Please what can you advice?

Vivian Odigie: Wow fantastic thanks darling for sharing

Sherry B.: I have to try that mixture. My scalp itches like crazy. Even after washing. Did you wash the mixture out?

Christian Peace: Hy ma'am, dis . video is grt. I lov it. Pls I want to do a diy protein treatment on my hair. My hair is 4c and its high porosity.pls I want u to guide me on wat I can mix to suit my hair type and my hair porosity. Waiting for ur response. Tanks alot.

NaturallyTeeCee: 4 weeks is long enough enough for me.

Emprezz Abena: 2 weeks(-: hope I can one day get to 4 weeks.

Charae LaQuenta Ratliff: The longest I've worn a ps is 3 1/2 mths due to being otr.

marquita83: cool tfs!! :)
