This is my first impression and honest review of Naptural85's Melanin Hair Care Black Soap Shampoo. I've been wanting to support her lime for the longest so I was excited when the shampoo came out. It's richer than black soap shampoo I've tried in the past and it's made with natural ingredients.

Here's the review that I watched by @TressesOfAlexis

Hi guys welcome back to my channel um today, i'm excited because i'm doing a product review and i'm going to be doing a product review on natural 85's melanin hair care, black soap shampoo. I'M really excited i'm excited because i've been watching natural 85 on youtube. For years now, um, i think i um joined youtube in 2010, so i've been watching natural 85's video from way back in the day and she's always made like do you diy hair products, and i think the products in her line are similar to the products that She'S done diy for like the butter um and her oil, but um when she came out with her product line. I was locked and there really wasn't anything in the line that appealed to me, because i don't use a lot of um heavy butter-based products on my hair. So i thought you know. I guess i missed out: i'm no longer a part of junkie anyway, but then she came out with this shampoo and i was like oh my god. I have to try it because not only um do i like natural 85, but i love black soap, shampoo, um. I'Ve been using black soap shampoo for years. The shampoo that i currently use is the shea moisture black, castor oil, strengthen and restore shampoo, which i guess kind of gives me the feel of lots of shampoo um and i've used all natural black soap shampoos and loved them. My only complaint about those was that i didn't really feel like it. Um cleanse my hair, but i'm curious to see what kind of effect i get with this melanin. Hair care product. Okay. So, let's start with the packaging all right. So this is a 16 16.1 ounce container, it's huge um, it was 20 and shipping was 10. So overall i paid 30 for this. Damn shampoo 30 whole dollars, but you know i was thinking about it and um. I guess this is 13 ounces for ten dollars, but whatever thirty dollars for the shampoo, of course, you know if it was available in stores, then you're not going to pay that much for it. But it's not that accessible. I'M trying to see if i have another shampoo here, that i can compare it to suarez price and the amount that you get, but i don't i just have that one and that's 13 ounces for ten dollars so but um other than that. It'S a very nice package. You can see what's in there because it's a clear container and i love that it has a nozzle at the top, because i feel like um. I feel like it's easier to apply the shampoo to your scalp when it's like that. Um versus when it's like this with this kind of cap, i usually pour it in a bottle with a spout like this and dilute it to apply it to my scalp. So this is great. I love that um. Normally i have to dilute this with water because it's so thick and i'm thinking i'm i'm gon na - have to do that with this, because just from looking at it it's pretty thick. Let me open it up and see so this top comes off and let's see and there's another seal, it smells natural um. It definitely smells earthy. It smells like black soap. Shampoo smells like peppermint um. Maybe my nose is fooling me because i'm looking to see if there's peppermint oil in here - but it's oh yeah, there's peppermint oil in here. So it has lots of natural ingredients like shea butter, um glycerin, cocoa seed butter, pro vitamin b5 peppermint oil, rosemary lavender turmeric root extract charcoal powder, black cumin seed oil, argan yeah, argan oil, there's some stuff on here that i can't pronounce and i'm not going to Try but uh it says it's all natural. It says natural ingredient safe, synthetic derived from nature, no sulfates, no parabens, no silicones, no mineral oil. No phthalates, no formaldehydes sounds like it's natural to me all right. Let'S look at the consistency, see what it's like. It'S pretty thick would say it's pretty thick yeah. This is thick. I would normally have to um dilute this. So we'll see what happens. I'M gon na go dunk, my hair in water, get it all soaking wet and then come back and start applying this to my hair. I'M not gon na do my whole wash day routine, which consists of detoxing with apple cider, vinegar, shampooing, deep conditioning and then do my leave-in. I'M going to skip the detox phase and just go right into the shampoo, because i want to see how the shampoo does on its own all right be right back all right, so my hair is drenched all right. Let'S start working in the shampoo i've seen one review um where she tried the shampoo and it wasn't really lathering on her hair shaft. So i'm kind of in it stripped her hair i'll, put a link in the description box to her video. It was on loose natural hair, so, if you're interested in seeing how the shampoo works on loose natural hair i'll put a link in the description description box to the videos, i watched um yeah - let's, let's go in, let's see now the instruction said to apply this To your scalp and work, the lather down to your roots, um, it lathers pretty quickly. Actually, wow. Okay, that's great! So that's what i'm doing, i'm just working it! On my scalp first um. I don't know how it's gon na travel down my hair shaft, because my hair is locked, but i'm gon na try it like she says, i'm sure i get the middle. You know my problem area, so all right work that in here i'm probably gon na - have to do another lather or two, but i'm gon na do that in the shower, because it's messy - and this is how i normally wash my hair. I would normally put the shampoo on my scalp and work my way down, but i put the shampoo on my hair shaft, also um in my previous video. I posted my whole watch routine. So, if you're interested in watching that go ahead, oh let's see how it does um, it's not giving me the same effect that i would get it's not sensing on my hair shaft and i can't pull the scents down because my hair is locked. So it's like this is normally why i have to dilute my shampoo with water because um it doesn't spread very well. So i'm going to go ahead and finish this in the shower, because i don't want to waste the shampoo, because this is all i'm doing at this point, because it's not really lathering into my hair shop, maybe in the shower it will but yeah, maybe in the Shower it'll start giving me that lather on the hair shaft, because my hair will be a little bit more wet um, but i'm gon na bring my my bottle in there also just in case. I have to dilute the shampoo to get it to spread all right. You guys so i'm all done washing my hair. All i did was wash and then deep conditioned for like 10 minutes in the shower, and this is what my hair is looking like. Okay, so final review on the melanin hair care black soap shampoo by natural 85, while i was in the shower, i did have the same issue where the shaft of my hair wasn't really lathering that much even after running it under the shower, but my roots, i Haven'T a lot of new growth, um haven't had a retweet in about three and a half months, so my roots lathered really really really really well um and at one point i got the lather to travel down my locks. But when i put the shampoo directly on the shaft of my locs, then it didn't really lather and it was hard for me to work in even under the stream of the water um. I did shampoo twice more in the shower and on the third time i diluted it to see. If maybe my results would be different and it wasn't. It still didn't really lather that much on my on the shaft of my locs, but on my roots yeah. I got a great lather um for me, the more my hair lathers when i'm washing it. It means the cleaner it's getting. I don't expect a lot of lather on the first wash, but on the second and third, i do expect a lot of lather. That tells me that my hair is getting clean uh. This shampoo felt like it was kind of getting absorbed into the into the shaft of my locks. Um - and i don't know what that means, because i didn't notice that i started to get a squeaky clean feeling on my roots, not on my on on my locs itself, but on my roots, i started to get that squeaky, clean feeling and um in the past. When i've used black soap shampoo, i have gotten this clean feeling, so i think that's just an effect of it. Being black soap, shampoo uh in the video that i watched the review that i watched um, she said i'll put the information here. If you guys want to go watch it, but she did. I didn't notice that for her also the shampoo wasn't really lathering on the shasta. For here it was kind of absorbing it, but i don't know if it means that it's getting clean so yeah would i repurchase this. I don't know because it didn't really lather that well on my locks, it lathered well on my roots. I definitely would recommend it to someone who was who's natural, um or yeah. I would recommend it to someone who's lose natural. I mean that's really who the product is made for, but i'm just being extra by going to buy it and trying it, but it is made for people with um loose natural hair, but as someone who's locked and who's tried, non-traditional, lock products. I have found certain gems made for loose natural hair that work well for locks as well, but i don't think this is one of them. I think that this is specifically for loose natural hair um. Maybe it's just the fact that it's black soap, because i have used black soap in the past. I used it a lot when i was loose natural um and when i started my locs, i tried to go back to that and use black soap, but i didn't really feel like it was getting my hair clean. So when i found the shea moisture black, castor oil shampoo - i stuck to that because i felt like that was really working, so i wouldn't repurchase this for myself um. I have a shampoo that i think works good, even though i have to dilute it just to keep in mind that you may get that squeaky cleaned feeling in the shower. But i don't necessarily think that means that means it's gon na dry. Your hair out, my hair, is still wet right now, but it still feels pretty soft um and but i also conditioned my hair and i am going to go ahead and add a leave-in and oil, my scalp, so that will help also but um. I definitely have tried shampoos that were too drying um and i've over shampooed, my hair and it's felt dry, but i'm not getting that with the shampoo. So i don't think the squeaky clean feeling that i was getting meant that um it was drying. So maybe that's a sign that the shampoo is working. Is that squeaky, clean feeling, but for me because it didn't really lather so well on my locs, i couldn't tell if it was working or not but yeah. I probably wouldn't repurchase this for myself, but i would recommend it to someone with loose natural hair to give it a try um. What else can i talk about the price point? Is it worth the money? I mean you're getting um a 100 natural 16 ounce bottle of shampoo for 20 grand shipping is 10, but if it were in store, you'd only be paying twenty dollars for this something one hundred percent natural. Is it one hundred percent natural? Let'S see if it says on here, maybe it says i don't wan na hurt cars, i don't know, but it's a natural product. 16 ounces. You don't usually get products, this huge um and it's 20. I'Ve definitely seen some products in smaller containers for more money. So yeah, i think it's worth it. I think it's worth the twenty dollars, um for sure uh. What else? That'S it for my review, i'm still on the hunt for products that really work for locks, natural products that really work for locks. As far as cleaning conditioning um moisturizing nourishing i'm looking for those type of products, if you know of any brands or products for locks that really work to do all those things, let me know in the comment section: let me know what you've tried. Let me know if you've tried melon in here care and what you think or, if you plan to, but if you can point me in the direction as far as products goes for locks i'll, be happy to try them, and i would really appreciate it. I'M also trying to grow my channel um still trying to find uh decide what direction to go in because i, like so many different things. So if you want to see more content, please like and subscribe to my channel and let me know in the description box which you'd like to what you suggest, what kind of content you suggest or what kind of content you like to see: uh anyways, that's it For my review i'll see you guys in the next video bye
