What up guys today, I'm going to give you my updated kid washing routine? I shared a different wash day routine for Olivia, I think about two years ago and since then my routines have changed so many times back in the day I used to wash her hair in the bathtub and then that got old, and so then I started moving Her to the sink, and then that got old Olivia is a really tough customer. She does not like getting her hair washed. It'S a screaming match every single time. I don't know many kids that enjoy getting the hair wash. So I'm sure once she gets old, it would be fine with that being said, I feel like I've come up with a method that is really good, and I want to share it with you guys because it not only helps Olivia, but it helps me to get Her hair done faster. You used to take me about three hours now. It just takes me an hour and a half. It'S a really fast process, a little bit about Olivia's hair, it's very tightly curled, not as tight as mine, a slightly looser, but then on top of that she has a little bit more softness and silkiness to her hair. I used to wash her hair every week now I wash it every two weeks or her hair tends to get a ton of build-up, a ton of lint, because it is so soft it can break very easily and it picks up anything that touches it. Anything in the atmosphere, any pollen all of that gets absorbed into her hair, so it can be an interesting detangling process, but I figured out a really easy method and I cannot wait to share it with you guys if you have kids that hate getting their hair Done if they have hair that's kind of difficult to detangle, but you're really gon na benefit from this video all the products that I use in this video I'm going to link in the description box below and yeah. I think that's it. I hope you guys enjoy this video. I really hope it's helpful and any parents out there or maybe even to do your own hair. Who knows - and I will see you after the video, so here's Olivia's hair after two weeks of protective styling she's pretty rough with her hair. As you can see, I try to do as much as possible, while she's distracted watching her shows and eating snacks. It'S just easier when she's distracted, so I do the majority of her wash day in the living room. I like to work one brain at a time I unravel the braids, which is usually pretty dry and tangled, especially at that base near her head. There'S lots of tangles and lint from the week, and I can detangle this in what I would consider a quick and easy manner, but Olivia once she feels me pull her hair. Even if it's the small to mom she starts to complain and whine yada yada yada. So my secret weapon is this amazing detangler from can to kids line and I'm gon na link it in the description box. This product is so good. I just spray a bit of it where her tangles are at the base on both sides and all the knots just fall apart so easily. Look at that, it's crazy. So it really helps me avoid the unnecessary complaining that I get from Olivia. When I started tangling cuz, I don't have to pull her head and all that kind of stuff it just makes my life so much easier. You guys really got to give this a try. I would actually use this on my own hair to detangle, but it has coconut oil in it. Unfortunately sooo yeah anyway. Now I can finger to tangle the section super quickly without any complaining and to keep the hair too tangled. I twist a section into a two strand twist, making sure the base is nice and loose. Now I just repeat the same thing on the rest of the braids working one braid at a time unravel the braid and of course this is optional, but I like to help those tangles at the base loosen by spraying this detangler from the Cantu kids line. I coat it on both sides and then the tangles just melt apart. Then I just fingered a tangle to get all that shed hair out and twist the section into a large two strand twist, making sure the hair is nice and loose at the base where the hair meets the head all right. So now all my braids are removed. Detangled and re twisted loosely now it's time to cleanse the hair and yes, I also do this, while she's sitting in the living room, nice and distracted, I'm telling you guys it makes my life so much easier anything I can do while she's distracted, okay, so you'll, Probably be surprised, but it's actually really easy to wash a head of hair outside a shower or sink. I just spray water all over her scalp soaking, her entire head as long as the water doesn't touch her face, she's, usually fine if it drips on her neck. It'S not a problem, so I just saturate her hair with water and then massage that in now I just grab my shampoo of choice and lather. It on massaging an entire scalp to make sure it gets clean, and this is why I make sure my twists are loose at the base, so I can really get my fingers into her scalp. So I can work that shampoo into her scalp more easily and Olivia's hair actually responds well to most shampoos and conditioners, so it usually doesn't matter which I choose hair. I just use the Cantu line shampoo because I had it so really massage that shampoo into her scalp, making sure it's nice and clean and look how calm. She is guys. I'M telling you this method is a lifesaver. If you have kids who hate getting their hair washed, she doesn't even care she's, so distracted. Now, once your scalp is clean, I unravel the twists working the shampoo down our hair shafts to make sure that all her hair is clean and I'm also just finger detangling as I go to make sure everything stays organized all right. So now our hair is washed and finger 2 tangled it's time for this lovefest to end we're gon na head to the shower to rinse and conditioned all right guys. Listen, this part is a nightmare real talk, so I try to move as quickly as possible. She hates getting her hair washed. This next part will take me about 15 minutes to complete first, I rinse all the shampoo out. Her hair is already finger too tangled. So I head straight to that deep conditioner step I squeeze out most of the water look at that face ridiculous and I apply the deep conditioner from ends to roots and I'm just using the same deep conditioner that I use on my own hair. This is a high porosity masque. Now I work that into her hair, using my fingers and on Olivia's hair. I always detangle with a detangling brush, just to make sure all the knots are out since she's so rough during the week. I could do this outside the shower right before I style her hair, but I like to do this after I apply the deep conditioner for a couple of reasons. Number one brush in the conditioner through her hair helps to make sure that each strand is evenly coated and number two. It gives the conditioner more time to sit in our hair, as I'm brushing like. I said I'm moving really fast here in the shower and I have to detangle her hair anyway. I might as well utilize this time to let that conditioner sit for as long as possible here I'm using my favorite Felicia, Leatherwood, detangling brush and contrary to what it looks like. I am detangling her hair gently. It looks more rough than it is because she doesn't hold her neck still and also you know the tears the drama. It'S it's a lot, but yeah she's getting a gentle brush through. If you remember her hair was already very detangled from just using my fingers. Whoa. Alright, now the last step, I just rinse all of that deep conditioner out, I used to have her sit with a heat cat for 30 minutes to deep conditioned more thoroughly, but again she really hates getting her hair washed. So I just cut that entire step out for her just to make this process faster. This is a really good, deep conditioner, so her hair still gets nice and conditioned without it. So it's fine. She can do it when she's older and she has more patience and she's doing her own hair, because I ain't got time for it. Let me calm down. Okay. So now all the conditioners rinsed out her hair is nice and soft and detangled I squeeze out the water. I twist the hair to keep it too tangled, and then I clip it up out of the way. While I give her a proper shower to wash her body and she's done, oh the drama of it all alright, so that's my entire washing process for Olivia's hair. I hoping probably takes me about 40 to 50 minutes. I add all of my leaving conditioners. All of my styling products and I style her hair in the living room. So that's probably like another half an hour, and I will show you that in another video this has been the quickest most pain-free and easiest way that I have found to make. Washday just fly by, I hope you guys enjoyed this video. As always. I hope it helped and I'll see you in the next one.

Jay Hemmy: It seems that she hates the water getting into her face, why no try using a visor? I legit just thought of it, it might make wash days easier.

meganjerai: When she gets older she's going to be so grateful that you took such good care of her hair.

Stephanie Williams: The breath when you said “the tears- the drama- it’s a lot” I felt you girl.

- samaiyathesnake -: I’m literally jealous of a little girls hair. ITS BEAUTIFUL EVEN WHEN ITS WET!

Yvonne Robert-Carr: The tears...the drama The story of my daughter and me on her wash days! Your daughter is so cute. Cutest little profile of her upset face. So funny to see somebody else going through this and just calmly accepting it as a part of the child's wash life.

Yvette Ann: Great tips ... I just tried this method and my daughter actually fell asleep while I was detangling her hair! She’s 10 !!!! Thank you so much for sharing this!

Flawless Britny: Her hair is healthy and beautiful, you did great! You said “ridiculous “ so hard ❤️

Miah Houston: She has a beautiful curl pattern!

Maggie Brown: My hair is literally straight as a board and I keep watching people doing their curly hair and stuff and don’t know why lol.

TekSone: I totally sympathize with lil Olivia. I was the same way! My mom caught on to what was easy for me. All it took was one day to go to a salon and get it done at a "mommy & me" day. I never said a word while I was in the chair laid back into the dip of the bowl. With the lady standing over me and going backward with the water it took no time. From then on my mom cleared the kitchen countertop and I laid up there on my back while "under the faucet". Easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy. When I became to big for the counter top, she bought a visor and I sat/laid back in the bathtub while my mom used the shower head attached to a hose.

Calico Cavalier: Thank you for posting this! I might be an unexpected consumer of your video. I’m white and my hair is just flat. However, I’m in the process of becoming a foster mom, and we are open to any race/ethnicity. It’s really important to me that I am able to do the hair of any kids we get, no matter who they are or what kind of hair they have. Thank you for sharing your routine!!

TwinGodesses: Soooo adorbs!!!!!! ❤ Hair looks incredibly healthy just like mom's!!!

Trudes TC: O......M......G........I want to cry. I just used your method. Holy moly. Not even a peep from her. Took her to the sink rinsed out and went right back to the TB to put in my Cantu leave in. OMG I can blow dry as i comb out the sections. Wow thanks so much. I can't wait to tell everyone. I subscribed. Sorry blabbing cause I'm so happy. She's usually in tears for hours by now and the whole house is upset and stressed out. I would be talking to myself by now. Lol

cindypal22: OMG! Thank you so much for this video! Your daughter is legit my daughter, lol. My daughter makes doing her hair so much more difficult than it has to be. I'm going to try your method this weekend. Lord help me! You have a subscriber for life now!!!

Janet McGinn: Me, in my Irish thin, pin straight hair here SHOOK when I heard 1.5 hours. Or THREE!!! No wonder you are all powerful black beautiful queens. Thank you for celebrating and sharing black hair ♥️

M1ssLad1L0v3ly: You literally just changed the game for me with wash day for my two girls. I struggle so much with them on wash day bc they both hate getting their hair done and are tender headed. So in the bath they struggle with me and both usually end up wet and tired afterwards lol. I can't wait to try this method this weekend. I think we'll all be happier lol.

arnellarmon: Her hair is beautiful!!! She’s getting so big

Corrin: That Cantu detangler has changed my life My daughter's hair loves to tangle! And she is tender headed! This stuff has made detangling soooooo much easier. Thank you!!!

Sheba's World: This was an awesome wash day routine for your little one! My daughter doesn't like wash day either but I will definitely try this routine the next time I was her hair. Thanks for sharing these tips and tricks! :)

Bianca Adkins: THANK YOU!!!!!! Wash day will no longer be a dreaded day for my entire household! My daughter's hair is similar to your daughter's in that it tangles easily, picks up EVERYTHING, and is long. And, she has the nerve to be tenderhearted too! She didn't scream or cry once today! This video truly changes everything!!!

Queens in the making : I absolutely loved this video! Mainly for the commentary because my daughters love getting their hair washed but hate the detangling, combing, and parting process. So this video showed me way I can make that easier. Thanks!

Awah Tchitakwe: Lol who else here from the era where your mom didn’t care if u didn’t like getting your hair washed, your head was going in that sink

Nicole Davis: I love this video! My daughter's hair is same grade/length and tangles easily, plus she's extremely tender-headed :-( I have gone thru the drama of washing her hair (tears/complaining). I finally found an easier way to do her hair and its working for both of us (still complaining/teary-eyed) but I gotta do what I gotta do! I will definitely try your method and see what happens, thanks for sharing!!!!

Duhh.ItzzNaee: Idk why her curl's are so satisfying

Shanell Shields: This video is giving me life and encouragement. The detangling process has been a struggle because my daughters texture keeps changing. Her hair collects everything too. Can't wait to implement some of these methods. Thanks.

Chelsea's Way: I can't explain how much this video has helped me! I am literally making this my new routine for my daughters hair, I needed to find something easier and more efficient when it comes to washing her hair. yes! Thank you!

Shay and Trav: Whitney, you are an awesome mom! Once Olivia hears the horror stories of how other children's moms hit them with the combs, pulled them by their hair to turn their head, and sometimes completely neglected their hair......she will really appreciated having a patient mom like you. Just give her some time to learn life. Happy Mother's Day!

Courtney St.Julian: This is my daughter. From the hair type to the tears. Thank you for this routine. I can't wait to try this with my little girl.

Arnetta McKenna: I tried this technique and loved it! My daughter did not fuss and her hair came out great!

Tavia Perez: This method has changed the game for me and my daughter. Wash day is no longer stressful.

Tiffany Renton: Thank you so much for this! I struggle so much with my daughter because she HATES her hair being washed. This is a huge hair win for sure!!

India R.: Olivia is a whole entire boss I WISH my mom would’ve washed my hair while I ate snacks and watched my shows

Garrett van Adams: She’ll thank you later. You’re doing so much for her!!! You could easily just relax her hair to make it easier on you, but instead you’re keeping her hair healthy and beautiful!!

Morgan Jones: My youngest daughter's hair is EXACTLY like this, much springier curls than my older two daughters, so glad you're making these tutorials!!

Taniesha Brackett: You. Just saved. My sanity! Thank you. I just got my 4 yr old's hair washed and detangled and protective styled in about an hour. With minimal fishing from her - that's unheard of for me! Thank you so much. #iShampooedHerOnTheBed #Puregenius

Sofia Valenzuela: I'm so excited and am going to try this on our granddaughter. Thanks for the tutorial! <3

Nonalola: Olive is going to be so thankful for this when she's older and sees just how nice her hair is! Just 4-5 more years before she really starts to care about how on point her hair is lol. And 10 before she realizes how blessed she is. Kids. Gotta love 'em xD

Koppa Bam: The story of my life, every Sunday with my baby. Dope video ❤️

M L: I had soooo much fun watching this! Her hair is just too beautiful and healthyblessings.

Natasha Washington: I went and bought that Cantu detangler as soon as I watched this video . My daughters texture is similar to your daughter and it does exactly as you described with the buildup at the base. That little face when she turned back in the shower reminded me so much of my daughter, so dramatic ☺️. I needed this video . I’ll have to search for your styling videos for her if you have any!

Diiful: this is AMAZING! my daughter is such a difficult customer as well, the lightest pull and she's crying her eyes out

Nana Abenaa Gyimah: Your buns are giving me life right now! I know the feeling of trying to wash a child's hair my nephew dreads it and it really is a struggle

Angel Smyre: Omg!! My 4yr old has the same issue at the root of the ponytail and it's HELL to loosen it. She's like a alligator doing a death roll. Gonna try this and hopefully it will be drama free. Doing the 1st steps while she's playing is a good idea. Thanks one flustered mom to another. Lol

Monique G.: OMG I have the SAME issue with my son's hair. The littlest pull is a problem. He HATES to wash his hair, he HATES if it goes in his face even for a second. It's a struggle. Thank u for sharing these ideas!!!!

Nahzaleece: You are an amazing mother. You take such great care of your children!! She will seriously thank you when she’s older and her hair is down to her bum for having a mother who gently cares for her hair. It’s very important.

Shayla Craft: I don’t know why it took me so long to watch this video. Olivia and my daughter are very similar in their hate of hair washing and their super power of attracting EVERY DANG THING under the sun. Thanks for the tips, have a new plan for wash day.

RoseGolden: My niece is just like Olivia. She CRIESSS but only allows me to wash her hair. LOL. It usually takes me 3-4 hours to do all of this. I will definitely do this method the next time I wash her hair. (She also has the same hair texture as Olivia). THANK YOU SO MUCH!

With Love Desiree: This video was very helpful! I wash my daughters hair like this to and I let her hold a dry wash cloth on her face as I rinse and that helps a lot

Carrie Kitchen: I was the same way as a kid. I remember always hating getting my hair washed but I always wanted it to look good! Haha

asher: She's too cute, my daughter fights me when its time to comb her super curly hair, washing not so much, but I still picked up a tip, comb the hair when conditioner is in, it helps detangle hair and makes it a bit easier during combing process. Praise God!

Deja Dyer: Thank you! After watching your video we had our FIRST tantrum/tear free hair washing day!

Lacinda Turner: Her hair is beautiful and so is she!!!!!

destini howard: So glad I found this video my son is going on two years old and his hair is long and curl like this I’m very gentle with him but he hates for someone to even touch his hair lol this will help me save so much time doing his hair now❤️

WeirdlyVoiced: My hair is Fluffy as Lord knows WHAT! My hair is similar to Olivia’s, although I’m wash my own hair, but is SUCK at combing out my hair, it’s not even a JOKE! I actually suxors, so I have to show this video to my mom. Makes both of our lives easier, lol.

Charlene Gyemah: OMFG, thanks soo much! The tears and drama, so reminiscent of my baby girl!. Beautiful little lady! Like her mama!

AvaXForever: Thank you for sharing! I bought the detangling spray, it was a little loud in scent for her, but I diluted it with water. I also changed to the 2 in 1 Head and Shoulders with Almond Oil and Conditioned, Conditioned, Conditioned, and yesterday was the easiest Wash Day Ever!! That Detangling Spray is Gold!! I haven't made a wash day video and don't know if I will, but you give me hope to do so...lol!

pinkpoet1412: Lol I don't even have a kid, but when I do I'm SO excited to do their hair! (Although I'm sure they'll be tender-headed like I am.)

Good Junk: I love getting my hair wash! It feels awesome and great

summersms25: Wooo chile! I have a drama queen, too and I felt every moment of that wash day ! It has gotten better over the years but it’s still rough sometimes just because she makes it so dramatic .

summersms25: Wooo chile! I have a drama queen, too and I felt every moment of that wash day ! It has gotten better over the years but it’s still rough sometimes just because she makes it so dramatic .

Patrisha NotPatricia: Wow I’ve been trying to find ANYTHING to help me cause I was about to shave my daughters curls off. I’m just over the crying and fighting. My daughter a dad is half Nicaraguan and I’m pure bred Mexican and her curls are like your daughters. Soooo beautiful but so unmanageable and I’ve been learning for the past 5 years with her and stuck to natural products I’ve tried everything I’m sure you know the struggle so thank you so much I will definitely be trying EVERYTHING in this video. Wow you’re the first person after this past week of hours of searching I have found that can relate. One last question: what does the high porosity mean?

Jazz: Those claps tho Can’t wait to try this routine on my son!

Cherelene De WET: I tried your method today. And it worked! I think it was the first time i could actually comb out my daughters hair. Thank you so much❤

thatgirlAsh: lol the whole video is my life exactly, with my 4 year old. i was cracking up the whole time! i just washed her today & per usual, a nightmare. but I think I'm gonna try this method next wash day. thanks!! :) xo

zel: I’m 11 and when I was little I loved my mom washing my hair but we all have our own ways of dealing with it❤️

Eden Edwards: Her hair is beautiful you've done an amazing job caring for it

Gigi Face Glam: When she grows up she's gonna be so thankful that you took the time to bother her with taking care of her hair.

Miyah Mac: So glad i found your video because my 19 month old has hair the exact same as your baby girl but a little shorter and she hates hair washing im definitely going to try your method and see how this helps thanks for sharing Great job as well !

Natavia Chatman: This was a good method for kids. When I was little my mom would mention a comb, a brush, or anything pertaining to my hair and she couldn't find me for about 30 minutes at least because I was hiding somewhere in the house. I hated getting my hair done lol!

Brooke R.: Chile!!!!! Thanks for letting me know that I am not the only one going through the wash day-fussy-twisty-curly-think-and-swirly blues!

MyMamasChild2: Have you ever had Olivia contribute to the process....maybe have her apply the conditioner or hold the hose when rinsing? Maybe this will help her see that it's not so scary. Just a thought. Anyway, you are doing a great job. Olivia is so big now and Theo is super cute! Hang in there momma!

Flowers Fam3: Glad I got your video as a recommendation! I'm a new subscriber! I'm getting that Cantu detangling spray for my son because he has the same hair type as your daughter. Whew! This will save me some time!

Corrie Jo: Wow I just did this on my almost two year old because she has meltdown when I try to wash her hair and omg I’m so thankful. Finally feel like her hair is actually clean and conditioned properly. Thank you

Dr. Brittany Y.: I thought I was the only one with a kids that hates wash day, lol! Thanks for the tips!

Veronique Bio: I felt that ‘look at that face, ridiculous!’ that’s me and my daughter every wash day lol!

angie: woah Olivia is so old now! and her hair is gorgeous!!

Alexza Santiago: Lmao oh my god love this video! My daughter is the exact same way. It’s stressful and tiring

Peachy♡: 8 months pregnant and out of breath! This is perfect for my daughters

Sable 711: She is just adorable and she looks just like you oh, so does the hair! Thanks for sharing this with us.

Melissa Collins: Thank you for this!! Definitely trying this for wash day tomorrow

helost.babess: omg !!! I have the same problem I start crying so much when my mom brushes my hair because I always get lint in my hair or what ever in my hair and it make very bad knots . thank you so much for this video I'm glad I have the same hair type has your daughter so my mom doesn't have to deal with my hair for like 3-4 hours .

Aasha Steele: Her hair is so beautiful! You do an amazing job

OhSoMarvalus: Thank youuu.Omg my 5 yr old hair is this same length and loooord a nightmare to wash but this video here God bless you!!!! You guys are so beautiful❤

Gayle Branch: Wow just now seeing this video and I think our kids are twins I thought I was alone going through this...awesome video Thank You

Theresa Custard: Love this. Thanks can't wait to try it. I have been putting hair wash day on hold for a minute for the little one

H Donaldson: My daughter cried about water in her eyes at hair washing time too, I got her one of those Manito baby shampoo hats, it's not perfect, but helped keep the drama down to a minimum for several years.

jade w-g: my hair is naturally very straight but these videos are so satisfying and fun to watch. her hair is beautiful!

Alicia: This is going to be a LIFE SAVER..my 7 year old HAAAAAAATES wash day. Thanks for this video

Kimmi Xerxs: Wow, l didn't know you can wash hair outside of a bath or shower. Your daughter has beautiful hair, just like you

Shan: I just wanted to tell you THANK YOU for this video. My son is 4 and HATES getting his hair washed and brushed. He has super silky, thick extremely curly hair. I used the detangler you recommended and did most of it while he was watching shows and while there was still some tears because he had a crazy tangle in his hair it was way less than usual due to the detangler. He also didn't fuss when I washed his hair in the living room and used the spray bottle and cup mix (can't attach a shower attachment in our apartment) to rinse out the shampoo and later conditioner.

sImplyCha: Her hair got so long! Haven't seen her in a while! Love it!

mely yur: Oh my her hair is Amazing! I used to have curls just like hers so sad my mom got tired of brushing my hair because I had to much hair and she put on a curl straightener and all my curls went bye bye in like 2 weeks Someone please show me a fast way to get my curls back !

Helen Abay: You're amazing! You have so much patience and you take really good care of her hair.

Aima Ohi: I always loved making my hair when I was a kid and that includes washing

O White: I’m an Olivia and I’m 12 and I HATE my hair being washed and it takes like 3 hours to do do my hair and being a gymnast I get stuff in my hair ALL the time so I know exactly how she feels

Renata Silva: The way you do it is amazing. My spoiled little cousin wouldnt have that patience nor would her mother, her hair is so dry rn and is more curled that your daughter's. If I have a chance I'll def try your steps and see if its better, she cries to detangle and theres nothing that can distract her. Have to wait for when she is in a good mood and says she wants to do it
