Hey guys welcome back to my channel, so today I'm gon na be showing you guys how I detangle my dry matted tangled up here. I'M also gon na, be giving you guys some tips on how to make detangling stress-free and also to minimize breakage. So I had one of those weeks where my hair wasn't a bun all week long and I did not touch my hair really and I really didn't do anything to it, and this is the result of doing that. As you can see, my hair is really dry and it's really tangled, I naturally have very fine hair, but my hair tangles really easily, and so I'm gon na go ahead and show you guys how I get my hair from looking like this to this, where I Can detangle it very easily and then I can go ahead and style it. So, let's get started like I said: I'm gon na give you guys some tips to make this process a little bit easier. The first thing you want to do is section your hair. You want to work in sections, I'm gon na be using my fingers and I'm gon na gently part, my hair. It doesn't have to be perfect, but I'm gon na part it into four sections. You can choose to do more sections if you have bigger thicker more hair than I do. I don't have that much hair, so I usually keep it in about 4 sections. So for most of this video I did not speed up the clips. I kept it in real time, so you guys can get a really good idea of how I actually detangle my hair and how I get rid of knots. As you can see right there, this is going to show you exactly how I do it. So one thing I really like about sectioning my hair is that one it leaves me with my sanity and two. It really allows you to concentrate on detangling your hair instead of getting frustrated, because we all know that detangling sometimes can cause some frustration. So the next thing I do is I dampen or wet my hair with some good old water and I make sure to kind of saturate, my hair with it, because this is gon na provide some slip. It'S gon na provide some moisture to your hair, so you're not just ripping through your hair, I like to take my fingers and kind of just massage it through my hair and really distribute it throughout that section. One thing you do not want to do is detangle. On dry, hair, detangling on dry hair will cause breakage, I'm just letting you guys know now so make sure your hair is at least a little bit damp. When you're detangling I like to go ahead and cover the section that I'm not using with a plastic cap to keep it from drying out now I like to use a conditioner that has tons of slip and, of course, I'm gon na be using my lush deep Conditioner, it smells amazing and of course it is thick and it's creamy and it glides right through your hair. So that's what I'm gon na be using. You can use whatever you would like. I would recommend this one. If you haven't tried it, because you can use it as a deep conditioner and as a detangler, it's like a two in one product. Now after you applied your water and your conditioner, you want to go ahead and start by finger detangling. I like to do this before I use any type of tools, because when you use your fingers, you can really start to feel the tangles and all the knots it's in your hair that you can't typically feel with a comb. So I like to just go through the section and just feel for any tangles kind of pull them down gently and then, whenever you have a knot, you can easily separate the knot or you can cut it out depending on how severe the knot is. But as you can see here, I did find a knot and I'm just gon na use. My fingers and gently take out that knot. One thing I love about finger detangling first, is that I've already done most of the work I've already taken out. Most of the knots and tangles so by the time I start using a comb, it's really easy. Now I'm gon na go ahead and start detangling with a wide toothed comb. You do not want to use something that has fine teeth and I'm gon na start from my ends and I'm just gon na work. My way up and then once I get to about midway through my hair, I'm gon na go to my roots and kind of pull down the knots and tangles a little bit. That way, I don't put too much stress on the ends of my hair. You also want to take your other hand and hold your hair taut and just gently pull the knots down all the way till you get to the ends. That is tip number. Six, definitely be gentle. When you are detangling your hair, you need some time. You need some patience, but you want to be gentle after that, I'm going to go ahead and just use a Denman brush. You do not have to use this brush, but I like to use it sometimes to clump my curls together and, as you can see right there, my curls clump together - and this is perfect - if you're doing like a wash and go where you want your curls to Kind of clump together, but you do not have to use a Denman brush. You can end right there at the why to comb or you can even stop at finger detangling. It'S really up to you. Then I like to go ahead and twist my hair to keep it in section so that I can move on to the next section. Like I said before, my hair is really not that big. So there's certain parts of my hair that are easier to detangle, such as the front, the crown and the back are a little bit harder for me. So you really want to gauge your hair and make sure you know which parts of your hair are a little bit easier, which parts are not and really tweak this to your own hairs needs. If your hair is thicker or it's, you know, you have a different hair type for me. Then definitely do it according to your needs. Alright, y'all. I had to leave this clip in here and I actually had to show you what was happening as I was detangling. My hair, I was really shocked myself, but after using the deep conditioner and detangling with my Denman brush y'all, look how it's gliding through my hair and then look how my curls kind of just form back together, look at it right there you see it. I was in shock like I didn't even know that my hair did this to be honest, but I really believe that's my deep conditioner that did that and just detangling, my hair, but anyway moving on after you have finished detangling all of your hair. I took out the sections and I just went through it one last time to make sure that my hair was fully detangled, because I was going to do a style that I needed my hair to be nice and detangle for just so, you guys can see. This is the amount of shedded here that I got, and this is for about one week of not touching my hair or detangling my hair. So this brings us to the end of the video. I hope you guys found it helpful. If you did, please don't forget to give me a thumbs up like this video, and I would love to hear from you guys. How do you detangle your hair? Do you use any tools or do you finger detangle only definitely leave a comment down below, so we can hear what you guys do and if you have not already checked out my last video, it's a pretty funny video. My husband does my voice over. Yes, he narrates my whole voiceover doing my makeup and he really doesn't know that much about makeup. I think you guys will enjoy that video definitely check out that I will leave the link in the description box below. I will see you guys on my next video. Thank you so much for watching bye, guys,

Senorita Rat: Me 3 months ago: “I’ll brush my hair later...” Me now: is watching this video

S: I've basically been doing this method (bun for a week, then detangle) for a little over a year and I've reached 18 inches I told myself I'd continue until I measure 20 then start to enjoy my hair. Hoping to touch down at 25 inches for summer 2017 and be able to swang it everywhere lol. Wish me luck!

Russell Knight: Hey Michelle B, I'm a single dad of a beautiful 11-year old "curly girl." Your video is EXACTLY what I needed to see right now. THANK YOU!

Aa’liyah Roams: you make it look so easy lol i hate detangling my hair so much

Krisy Mac: Ahhh my hairs so matted and tangled that I can't even part my hair.

Gia: Thank you!! My hair is very similar to yours and a lot of the times when I try to detangle my hair I get frustrated and give up halfway through and just leave it for the hair stylist to deal with I feel bad but I literally had no clue where to start and my hair was too thick. But this method is so helpful! It makes it a lot less overwhelming!

Tonia Carpenter: Thank you so much for this video!! I have long hair & got a perm a couple of weeks ago & stick it in a bun too for work everyday- well to say that it's tangled & matted is an understatement! I didn't know how I was going to get these big knots out without my hair coming out! I am going to order this conditioner & do just as you instructed! Thanks so much!!

Ash A.: This is exactly what i did and when i finished with all of my sections, i wanted to detangle it all together one last time and it was like i never detangled anything. My hair just tangles in 1 second. I dont even know what to do anymore

Tanya: OMG, your hair is absolutely gorgeous! I noticed how your curls were springing back early in the video; so beautiful. Thanks for posting this, because I was having major matting & tangling problems! This definitely helped!

Shannon Straughan: Thanks for the help. I've had my hair up in a bun for 2 weeks. I have rheumatoid arthritis and haven't felt like washing and detangling hair. My hair is SUPER thick and semi course. Pretty wavy/curly medium length. It is matted all over, not just detangled. I'm going to try this. I don't want to cut my hair, God blessed me with beautiful hair. I didn't have anything to do with it. I just don't want to cut it. Thank you!

Yiẓḥáq Dé Sire Bey: Thanks for this. I really needed this for my son (he's mixed Haitian-Mexican heritage). Nice and easy to follow instructions. Great job! Thank you.

LaChilena09: I wish I saw this video earlier!! Thankfully I been nicer to my hair and it's been growing back! This was wonderful since most videos were for wash day but I need to detangle between washes since it was so dry from too many washes! Thank you! ❤

OMJ Farm: So glad you did this video. We pretty much have the same type of hair and my hair gets tangled and matted, so thank you for sharing.

TRC Glam: It was definitely your deep conditioner that popped your curls. That stuff is amazing!! I just purchased your oil, can't wait for it to arrive.  I will be purchasing more of your conditioner before I run completely out.  Its a staple in my hair regimen once a week

bingus: Hi I loved watching your video. My daughter has really really long hair that goes to her bottom. She is 9 & I have difficulties with her setting through all the way of my brushing her tangles out. Ill try your suggestions of parting and working with a comb. Love the curls girl. Ya rock em.

Tulop: My hair is thick and loose curly, and i've been so fustrated for the past 2 months attempting to detangle this extremely thickly tangled piece of hair on my head. No matter what I do, it doesn't cave in. It was so fustrating, is so fustrating bc i still haven't detangled it still xD

Kimberly Strasler: This video was very helpful, my daughter is mixed and I have a very different hair type than hers so I am still learning how to take care of her hair and this really helped a lot

Mss Jamm: this is just the video I need! My hair has been experiencing this, but I believe this is the method that will work for me. thanks for being so thorough! (new subie)

lynnette lynn: Thank you for this video! Going to definitely try this. My hair gets matted so easily!

lori Williams: I really enjoyed having this knowledge and being able to learn from the visual standpoint. I have a head full of hear that I have not combed in 3 weeks! I"m recovering from a really bad auto accident and have to get around via a wheel chair or cane. I broke my ankle in three places and the bone came out as well so I'm really struggling but as a kid I had so much hair I never like to comb my hair and with a family of 9, I had choices about which older sister would comb it. I'm saying all of this to just get to the point that not only is it difficult to detangle but I have so many family members in my life that are trying to get me to go natural. But this process were talking about today makes me want to just keep going to the beauty shop and not have so many struggles in the care of my hair! You've made life so much easier, honestly, I'm so grateful because we have the same type of hair and curl pattern. Thank you Honnee69

yinyang2020: Thank you so much for this. Every time i de-tangle my hair i lose so much. I tried it today and it made it so much easier and faster. I'll defiantly be using this method every time i need to do my hair

Chantris Trammell: I have a LOT of trouble with tangles! I tried finger de tangling and it worked so much better than using a comb. I have thick hair and it's transitioning so I have to be careful but using my finger to check for knots helps big time.

Papa Taurean: Thank you so much. You've immensely helped me and my daughter with her hair.

jarxcistkris84: I love the tips.......I usually only detangle once a week when I'm actually washing my hair.......I start the finger detangling in the shower before I shampoo under running water then I shampoo put on a deep-conditioner and steam under a dryer. At that point I separate into sections & use a comb.......the crown is where I get most tangle......right in the middle

Sarelly: This was so helpful! Thank you and your hair is soo beautiful!!

S. Vanessa: Omg!! I finally found someone with a similar hair texture as mine ☺️

Dawn Williams: Thank you so much!!!! I was crying about to cut my hair because of the matting after having a sew in for two months.

FatFitFab Vlog: Ughhh this happens to me every friggin weekend!! Awesome tips!! Thx ;)

Bree Bree: I normally finger detangle using the Miche conditioner. Doing this is much easier on my coarse hair. Your conditioner is the best!

Deidra Cunningham: well explained, thorough demo. Thanks!

Serious Cat: I do use a great conditioner with arrange oil and then while it's still wet, brush through with an 'Ouchles' brush. My hair is straight and fine so in order to give it an even structure I need to blow dryer it if I'm going out. I also use a all natural shampoo that has no chems. I love your hair! I think your beautiful too ♡ Thanks

Crisbel Martinez: Your hair looked really nice when you passed the Denman brush through your hair and the curls bounced back

Tara (mizmode): This video came at the perfect time. Thanks! I'm so frustrated that I almost want to go back to a relaxed. I need to get that type of brush too, and your conditioner, and that comb. I have a wide tooth comb but not like that. Can you do this at night too before going to bed?

Nicole Williams: I just ordered your deep conditioner for the first time. I haven't used it yet but plan to this weekend. I can't get past the smell. I must say that it is the best smelling deep conditioner I have ever purchased. I know it will do wonders for my hair. Your oil is next. I am looking forward to using it.

Sylvia Swaby: Enjoyed your video. I usually detangle with fingers first then use the wide tooth comb.

Spamm Accc: I know I’m late but I’m a 15 year old girl and it’s so nice to see someone with a closer hair type to mine. Thank u!

Cynthia 15: My hair got super tangled starts at the root and the thickness of the knot is like the size of a tennis ball my head hurts help Update : had no choice but to cut it it’s going to be a long longgg long hair journey to get it where it was

Ruby Rose: We have a similar hair type....fine hair can be so tricky. It tangles and knots up way worse than thicker coarse hair. I am ecstatic to find a youtuber with similar hair to me! Thanks for the video.

imperatrice_VI le chat le plus cool enville: this is great for me because my hair is the same texture as your hair, awesome video.

Naturally Crowned: I'm so in love with your hair colour! Absolutely radiant. By the way, your make-up is on point too! Now the product junkie in me, makes me want to check out LUSH.

Kayla Ollivierre: I just need two sections most times or I just leave my hair all together to detangle. I spray my hair with a water conditioner mix to make it easier to detangle and I use my wooden paddle brush.

Jaila Hackett: Thank you so much my hair was totally tangled I have not combed it out in a week and this made the combing pain free I had to give this a thumbs up this is amazing and I am going to buy Lush buy yesterday I used motions which also works but I would rather try Lush

Vivian Sanchez: Beautiful curls<3

Stephanie Williams: Just bought your deep conditioner in hopes of having an easier method to detangling my daughters hair (crosses fingers lol)!

Maureen Weekes: I use the q redew and it works well with detangling.

Kayla Simmons: My daughters are mixed and they hate letting me brush their hair which had resulted in it being very tangled. So much so I cant even part it, it's a big clump! I've tried deep conditioning, big toothed comb, I've had no success. I dont want to cut it

gabee: This worked really well!

FuschiaFox: In the shower, I put conditioner over saturated hair and then step out. I section them wet into fourths (like you) and then apply even more as needed and I only use my fingers. I do a mix of combing and the praying hands method, and when each 4th is detangled, I section them into halves at the crown, use just praying hands, and that usually does the trick. Although, I do have problems with my roots being frizzy. Any helpful comments would be appreciated.

She invests: That nail polish looks nice on your hands! Great vid too:)

Mrs Upchurch: Where can I find that wide tooth comb? My 3c daughter has the thickest hair I’ve ever seen. I love how you used the comb at the scalp to loosen tangles a bit.

Cra-a-azy girl: Thank you so much this is so much easier used to hurt so bad thank you

The Clements Family: Hey Michelle could you please do tutorial on how you colored your Thank you!

Corrine Gray: Man this is a great video! Thank you so much. Can you link the type of brush you used second after the wide tooth comb?

Naturally Loving Me: this is so helpful thanks for sharing

Ki-Ki's World: Thank you that was very helpful.

Shanice Solomon: omg!!!! we have the same hair type. Finally found my twin. :-)

Ainot Niasan: I will try the Deep conditioner you use because Shea Moisture stopped working for me. Also I see you leave in your or in this video you left in your deep conditioner. Is that something you normally do ? Great video.. Will try some of your methods tomorrow.. Thanks

kanna231: Does it work when the heat wave comes? the heat wave messed up my hair a lot.

Universal element: My niece hair is 2x thicker, longer, 3x as matted. My sister dropped her off for the summer right after she left the pool. Omg its gonna take me a full day

Donna Hicks: No it was the denman brush that particular brush has been known for definition and curl clumpage

Audia Renee: I always finger derange it works better for my hair

bossybaby56: Great job it helped

Shanell Pittman: I can only do this in the shower under running water with my hair in 4section. I use the hair clips of thicker hair or the clip where the front half swivel up and down.

Renee Grissom: So you didn't wash the deep conditioner out? Thanks for the helpful video!

pink glitter4: great video very informative

Janisha Howard: Hi Michelle. I use warm water, olive oil, and a wide tooth comb. I always section, detangle, and then wash while my hair is in sections.

Kevin Baker: My hair is clumped I’m scared it’s gon fall out when I detangle it ‍♂️

Rionel Lee: I only finger detangle I have super dense 4c hair if you're into hair typing but I have fine strands not even the hercules sagman comb has touched my hair lol I only use a medium bristle boar brush to smoothe my hair if I'm gonna do twists

Lee Monroe: *My Routine* So, I hop in the shower, (I take cold showers.) and I turn the water to lukewarm so I can warm up. Than I switch to the cold setting and I *W H E T* my hair. I use my Pacifica Pineapple Curls shampoo and I cleanse my scalp. *I begin drowning. Than I live.* I wash that juice out, I section my hair into 2 and than I use the conditioner and I put my it on my scalp. I massage that in, than I put some on the length of my hair. Than... I DETANGLE. I finger detangle, than use a big comb, a medium comb, and a small comb. I wash the conditioner out and I put my hair in a bun. Than I style my hair into a puff, two braided back buns, two cornrows, or any down Hairstyle. *THAS IT.*

Unique Beauty: Great video thanks for sharing

Pamm Meee: I needed to find a good detangling product for my 4c hair, just thinking of detangling my hair on wash day makes me cringe. I'll try this product and see...

Rizzy: I finger detangle, bc i used to just comb my hair for no reason and it would break off but my cousin she has gorgeous, luscious, naturally curly hair and she helped me realize i was breaking my hair off by combining it. I remember like it was yesterday. Me combining my hair. (Cousin) why are you combining your hair. (Me) idk. (Cousin) exactly. Then we had a convo about finger detangling, and i have been doing it ever since and experienced less breakage. Little to nun.
