Heard of the "No poo" method? Well in this video I describe what the no shampoo method is and how to do it correctly. There are claims out there that the best shampoo is NO SHAMPOO!? What? Crazy I know but it has sparked my interest and now I am trying it for myself. Already after only 8 Days of no shampoo I have my skepticism but I am diving in head first and all in! I have done a lot of research and I am sharing my findings with you. Please let me know if you have any additions or corrections to my findings. Good luck no Shampooers!

Hey everybody, its Talia, and this is baby rose, and today I wanted to talk about the no shampoo method, also known as the no poo method, but I don't understand why anyone would want to call something and no poo method. Maybe I really would do things like a five-year-old boy, but I just can't hear the no Puma they did not gon na give a little bit. So what is the no shampoo method? Well, it is the idea that the use of shampoo creates the need for shampoo. Why it intrigued me is, I have a very fine, limp hair, it's very permanent and greasy, and so you would think well, if you are very fine, limp greasy hair, you would need to shampoo regularly well, I actually am who everyday she every single morning and then By the evening, my hair is already greasy and already dirty and just looks disgust, and what I realized is that by shampooing my hair, I am stripping my hair of its natural oils, and in doing so my scalp is then trying to overcompensate by creating more oils. So I have taught and trained my hair to be greasy and limp by stripping and shampooing it. So my solution to the problem was also the cause of my problem. So within the no shampoo method movement, there are two main factions of people. There are those that are the hardcore, no shampoo people that literally only use water, and then there are the people that will still bring their hair and wash their hair, but only with shampoo alternatives such as baking, soda apple, cider, vinegar, honey. Your hair goes through what is called a transition stage and if you can't tell by this wonderfully revealing lighting right now, I am in the thick in the heart of the transition stage. So my hair is incredibly greasy its disgusting actually, how greasy it is. So the transition period can last anywhere from about two to six weeks is what I have been reading is normal, depending on your hair type. Knowing me, it's probably gon na be about six weeks, because I was so dependent on daily shampoo using, but hopefully it won't be as bad as this six weeks, because that would be terrible. My husband was gone for this week and it was a great time to kind of look greasy and nasty and Marr barek well he's out of town, and I don't have anyone to impress so originally it's starting the new sharing method. I decided to do water only that lasted for two days and then I quickly started researching alternative shampoos that are just all-natural around wheeze and would help decrease the oil buildup in your hair. So then I try the baking soda and apple cider, vinegar treatment. What I found after getting in the shower is my hair. Looked incredible. It looks absolutely amazing and wilt, even better than it did when I would typically wash it with shampoo. I had body and had a little wing to it. I was super excited, then I started doing more research, so I thought why is this so effective? Why is it even better than shampoo happens when you mix baking, soda and vinegar is it creates a very acidic, harsh and damaging environment for your hair? Now, even if you use baking soda alone, it still is considered extremely damaging and drying to your hair, just because it's natural, it's in your cabinet does not mean that it's good for your hair. She was ready for a nap, so I had to put rose down. The baking soda out. Cider vinegar mix was a huge disappointment because, even though it left my hair feeling and looking wonderful, it was actually being more harmful than the shampoo was so why pray tell would I tell you about a no shampoo method when my hair looks absolutely greasy and nasty And terrible, but that great question well supposedly at the end of the transition stage as long as it may last. For you, your hair does something magical and wonderful, and the Scout begins to produce just enough oil for your hair to maintain its softness and moisture. But it doesn't create so much that it's overburdened and overwhelmed with grease, so it actually looks greasy. So when you do the water only method, supposedly you get to a stage where your hair just learns to self-manage and self maintained, and the water is able to get any the dirt and build up and food or whatever you have in your hair and then tada You'Re free and you don't have to use shampoo anymore and you're no longer a slave to putting in false products to make your hair look like it's healthy. Your hair is actually going to be healthy. Well, I get there, I don't know, but right now, I'm just greasy. So, even though my hair is greasy and nasty, it is kind of doing something. A little bit fantastic. You kind of would have to be your in person to take a look and to know what my hair looks like naturally, but I just got out of the shower this morning and I didn't do anything with it. I just let it air dry and I didn't do a thing to it or touch it really or anything. I just wanted to show you guys what it looked like after getting in with the bath rinsing with water, after not shampooing your hair. For seven days, my hair is typically very limp, very fine, it's almost like baby hair and it just kind of sticks to my scalp or begins to frizz out if someone rubbed a balloon on the top of my head, so it's kind of nasty. However, right now it's actually doing this fun kind of like wavy thing. It'S got a little bounce and flounce to it, even though it's greasy, it's not like sticking to my head. Also, my brother, who is here earlier, assured me that my hair doesn't look greasy. It just looks like I have a little bit of product in it like a little too much news. Is he being nice? Maybe I don't know but to me it definitely looks and feels greasy, but even though it's greasy, it's not heavy. So it's a completely different kind of like dirty hair mentality. When I think dirty hair, I think matted to your head, not doing anything. Limp lifeless looks wet type hair, but even though this tends to have a little bit of a wet / shiny, look to it, it's wonderful and it's just full of life and flounce, and so even only about seven or eight things in my hair is already doing Some pretty exciting things and from what I've read and all my research has told me as my hair will continue to get better so I'll be sure to keep you updated. So what is the right way to do the shampoo method so first off stay away from the baking soda and vinegar, even though my end goal is simply doing the just water and hopefully being able to get the point where I can go three or four days. Having to rinse my hair with water, I am in the process trying to experiment with a couple different things that no shampoo users rant and rave about, and one of them is a honey wash. So supposedly, if you put one part honey to four parts, water in a jar, you shake it up: real good and rinse it through your hair. You'Ll have what's called a honey rinse, and what that's going to do is help cleanse your hair a little bit more than the water would on its own and even introduce a little bit more moisture into your hair. Now I don't necessarily need more moisture in my hair at the moment, because I have so much oil, but I actually did try the honey the other day and it actually kind of feels pretty cool in your hair. Once it's rinsed out your hair doesn't smell like honey. You doesn't feel sticky at all. The water dilution helps spread it around evenly and when you fully rinse it and get it out of your hair, then it actually feels quite nice and it enhances your curls. So if you have curly hair everyone, rants and raves about the honey method, not when you're using honey, make sure that you're using the raw and unfiltered honey, because that is going to have amazing and bacterial benefits as well. So it's kind of duly purposed. So this works great for curly, hair supposedly, and it did make my hair kind of like it is today, even more so much more curly and kind of have more flounce and bounce to it. So this is kind of nice. Now some people will mix that honey with a little bit of apple, cider, vinegar as well, and that just also helps to close it now may, when you are putting vinegar in your hair, it's going to smell like you are salad dressing, but it looks like, however, When you rinse it out, you will completely rinse out the smell and it will not be gross now so far, even though my hair looks greasy, my hair does not smell bad, it actually isn't dirty. It just has the appearance of being dirty because it's so oily, but it is not filthy and gross. Now there are a couple ways to help you get through the greasy period without looking too greasy because having your hair look nasty for weeks and weeks, ain't, nobody got time. For that, honestly, the biggest is just going to be I'm wearing hat the last couple days. I'M not now because I'm trying to show you guys the truth of what it really looks like, but a hat is definitely needed for the first at least couple weeks of the transitional period. Now, if you have long hair lots of updos, you can do baby powder, especially if you are every couple days doing a apple, cider, vinegar rings, because that's gon na get rid of any build-up. The powder will create your hair that maybe the water couldn't get out on its own. Also, if you want to go with something a little lighter than baby powder, you can actually create your own dry shampoo, using tada, just ingredients from your cabinet. Now, if you have darker hair, you can axe actually mix cornstarch with cocoa powder, and it will give you the similar color to your own hair. You could actually just use spices from your cabinet that matches your hair color mix with a little cornstarch or if you have blonde hair, just use cornstarch all on its own. Now you can just put it in your hand and kind of shake it throughout your hair. But what I have here that I really love is kind of a spray bottle for powder. I know if you can see that powder come out, but it comes out in a real nice. Fine mist - and you just put that over your hair and shake it through and then all even lift up and do layers something all the under levels and just gon na spring it throughout your hair. Now this will only do so much to relieve some of the oiliness, but especially if you have an updo, it will at least get you to be able to make it through the day without looking just like homeless person. Now it's also very important, while doing the no shampoo method to use a board bristle brush or something similar um a brush has a lot of bristles really close together, because what that is going to do it's going to take the oil from the crown of your Head where it likes to build up right at the roots and bring it down to the ends of your hair, now actually need it and are thirsty and want the oil. So it's just spread in little around making sure everyone's getting a piece of the action, and it's gon na make your hair look less greasy. Now it will kind of wreak havoc a little bit on your waves, but after using the shampoo method, even people that have traditionally frizzy curly hair have cleaned, even after brushing your hair, they have no more frizz because their hair is nice and evenly coated with its Own natural scalps oils and the hair is just perfectly suited to endure wind brushes, whatever harsh weather conditions may come, your way, humanity, whatever your hair's oils, are just naturally perfectly suited to take care of your hair and make it look good in all those conditions. When you're doing the bishop you method in order to do it correctly, it's important that you're either in a warm shower or in a warm bath, and that the water is pretty hot. You don't obviously want to go into like too hot water. That'S going to hurt! You make sure it's pretty darn hot and then you're going to want to thoroughly scrub your scalp all over do small circles and big circles. Then, just all over run your hair through your fingers, make sure that you're really hitting every inch of your scalp okay. So once you have thoroughly scrubbed your hair and your scalp and rinsed your hair many many times once you get out of the shower, it's important, also not to use a traditional towel and just shake your head and scruff it all over. That is going to encourage frizziness and it's also kind of damaging and bad to your hair. So you just take a normal shirt like you. Would wear cotton mix fibres whatever just dry, your hair, with your shirt going from the roots down? Not only is that going to dry your hair in a manner that discourages frizziness, but it's going to also encourage the movement of oil from your roots to your ends. And then you can even wrap up your hair like breakfast at tiffany's style twist and let it dry in a shirt. I think you would a towel, but it's going to be more effective and less harmful for your hair, because you're gon na be using more gentle of a fabric. This method is definitely not for everybody, because using the notion of you method means that you're not gon na be putting product in your hair. So if you're a big product junkie and there's a lot of products like putting in your hair or you really like your hair to smell a certain way, then your hair is going to something harsh, like shampoo or baking soda, to go ahead and strip that out And get rid of it and start from scratch, vinegar, totally removed so much, and it's not intended to remove like the chemicals of like a hair spray or a mousse, definitely not going to speak to all hair types. Some hair types are very different to mine. Instead of being oily they're incredibly dry, and if that's the case, the no shampoo method can still work for you, however, you'd want to take a little bit an approach to it over. Here I have some coconut oil, and this is what the no shampooers use that have really dry brittle hair and after they're done washing your hair with water from about halfway down their hair to the ends. They'Ll apply a little bit of the coconut oil in their hair and just let it sit and then your hair is just going to not really smell really good, but it will also be moisturized and have that condition, treatment that you were looking for. I'Ve also heard people conditioning with avocados again. Honey is also a great moisturizer as well. So there's really not a one-size-fits-all satoshi opie method. You have to do a lot of research and just try things that work for you. So I would keep you guys posted on what I find works and I'll make sure to be honest with you guys and if I bail out on it or a skip early or whatever, I'm gon na. Let you guys know, because I have read so many varying blogs, I'm kind of interested to see maybe who's trying to be a little too hippie-dippy and make it sound better than it's. Not because I am a bit skeptical just because my hair is so greasy that it will be able to kind of maintain itself, but it's just such a grand idea that that little treasure at the end of the rainbow is just it's getting me there. So I'm trying so grease at all. Here I go. I would love love love to hear from you guys. So if you have any natural shampoos that work for you or alternatives or remedies, or if you stock to the no poo method and you've made it through the transition parish to end, please send words of encouragement or correction to what I said or little additions. You have and love to read that and you really curious to see what you guys all have to say about the know, shampoo method and give your small green pot, no shampoo, mouth, no poo method. I know I've slipped a couple times just because I've been reading. So much about the note poo method, but let's just let's just all decide now to stop calling it no two methods. We don't have to say I'm stupid. Okay, thank you guys so much for watching and if you try it good luck, good. I hope it goes well. Let me know how it goes. Alright, five

shirel fox: to combat your greasy hair try rinsing with teas like peppermint , chamomile, or rosemary and leave it in to dry. your hair will be soft and luxurious.

MAVR: I just wash with water and comb it! It’s amazing! I don’t know how many products for frizz and dryness I’ve tried and always been disappointed! Now my hair is consistently awesome!

Vegan GuacamoLei: Great video! Love your honesty on the transition period! Can’t wait to start my no shampoo journey

Kaxvw: I was afraid about the ph of baking soda and ACV as well, but I researched more and found that if you dilute it in water it lowers the ph considerably. It also said it still can be harmful to do for your hair frequently, and to only do it 2x a month or every other week. This is what I’ve been doing and has been working well so far, and thought I’d share in case you wanted to try that again! The only problem is that I have very fine, curly hair that dries out easily. I tried adding coconut oil once or twice after showering with water but then it became WAY too oily...just wondering if in all your research you’ve found anything about dry hair solutions? And maybe that honey mixture would work well? Thanks!

Millian Avertis: Thank goodness, someone who writes No Shampoo. Your opinion is not uncommon. "No poo" sounds immature, it's not you who think like a 5 year old. I've actually been washing my hair with only water since I was 20, I had dandruff problems and had tried a lot of things. I'm 30 now and I don't have any problems with greasy hair, but my hair is thicker than most. I think the problem a lot of people have with their dry skin, greasy hair and scalp issues is because they use *warm water* It's simply not natural to do every day or every other day. I'll wash some of my body with warm water, but for the most part I've gotten used to cold water. Sounds crazy, because it's difficult for a comfy cozy addict to get up in the morning and step into a cold shower. Cold showers does a lot more for you and your blood circulation, skin and hair. Also, I don't think it's a great idea to put all sorts of things into your hair, except natural oils. It might sound counter intuitive, but if you're gonna do anything, use oils that are naturally anti bacterial like olive oil (I've used some vegetable oils, olive oil is pretty good). Spending time in really dry, warm climates the oils become essential (deserts, the sand and wind can be harsh). I'm sure it's harder if you have really fine hair. But *cold water* and no shampoo or baking soda or anything like that is absolutely the only way my hair will stay healthy. The only other time I had a healthy scalp was when I used to use Head and Shoulders (and no conditioner). But it's been a long time since, because I don't need it. I have to mention that I'm a guy who has had long hair since I stopped using shampoo, recently I had it cut. But the majority of my experience for the past 10 years has been with long hair (not just medium long length). I'm also not a hippie with unrealistic expectations of anyone, I'm simply sharing because this works for me so I'm sure it can work for others. It's not realistic that it's going to be the best choice for everyone, but you won't know till you try.

Phil Sorensen: My hair is fine as yours. Chick pea flour paste massaged on the scalp will cut the grease. Rinse with fenugreek tea-no tangles. A great solution for the 'greasy' period I found.

Jennifer Treatman: I love you Talya!  You are awesome. Make sure you post in a couple of weeks how your hair is doing.  I just use conditioner, no shampoo, because my hair is so long.  FYI a bore bristle brush will also sleek down the cuticle (outer park of your hair shaft)

JoJoZep ofthejungle: During the transition period I used a natural spray dog coat conditioner as my hair was dry at first but then the grease came so I used rice flour (dry shampoo in a can with just rice and air) and it didn't lengthen the transfer to just water.

The Practically Prudent Cottage: I have the same hair type as you and too have been very sceptical! Looking forward to your updates for sure. Also your hair looks great in this video, such a great cut for your face and style.

wildsoul: I have done with my transistion phase which is like 4 months...and now my hair was amazing...the day i do shower its a bit oily.. After that it wont get oily at all.... Very voluminous and bouncy and sometimes it appears as if it is styled

john smithson: I've just started doing "no poo", actually semi no poo (because I still have to shampoo once a week for reasons I don't wanna get into). But if u just stepped out of the shower and ur hair is still noticeably greasy, then you may want to stay in the shower a little longer. I'm able to rid my hair of most grease with just water alone. Before hopping in the shower, I usually rub or message my scalp with my fingers and then wiping the grease off my fingers , then rubbing another area of my scalp, and repeat. This ensures the removal of dirt and oil from my scalp because I don't want to be rubbing my scalp when I'm in the shower. HAIR IS WEAKEST WHEN WET so better to do that part before. Then it helps to have a shower that has a strong spray because that water pressure helps remove additional oil from the hair and scalp. Also use warm water. I do find myself showering my hair 5-10 minutes longer but it does help make my hair less greasy (sometimes not greasy looking at all) after a no poo shower.

Goose: I've been doing the no shampoo method for about 8 months I'm a guy and I usually keep it short on the sides and about three inches on top my hair has a lot of body some wave it styles easily no need for gel or wax I get compliments on it all the time guys ask me I tell them and they don't believe me I used shampoo the other day and my hair just looked flat and dull big mistake. Tip don't rinse your hair with hot water it strips the oils use luke warm water or as cold as you can stand it I use water only my hair never stinks or anything good luck.

Heather Moore: Cocoa powder is amazing as a dry shampoo...doesn't dry your hair out like the spray kind...just style ur hair how you want it and use a makeup brush...rub it in good but don't get it on ur scalp bc it will be noticeable...my fiance constantly tells me how nice my hair smells. Hahaha

Natalia Birchall: So I read that you should use cold water! Iv been trying this I’ve been doing it for a week, and iv been using really cold water, it’s a killer, but they said that when we didn’t have shampoos and hot running water we would have used cold water so that’s what our hair is designed to work with haha

shirel fox: Also your brother is right your hair doesn't look bad it just looks like there is product in it.

Kkblessed: Watching this and reading comments nearly 5 years later. Did you successfully transition to no shampoo!?

Christina B.: What are the ingredients for the dry shampoo for dark hair? Didn't get that. Thank you for this great video. So many useful tips :-)!

Jsmum: Water only, just once or 2x a week and put coconut oil when needed on the ends and mid section. It takes a few months to balance out.

Dmitrijs Godins: Wow. i came to right person for having questions on this theme. so much intellegence, so much information and yourself experience, just what i need. thanks

Laura Yerino: I've been using the baking soda and apple cider vinegar, what will be two years next month. My hair has been so much healthier since making the switch. I used to have a really oily roots, dry split ends, and dandruff. My hair would be disgusting in less than 24 hours. Now I "wash" my hair one to two times a week. For dry shampoo I use arrowroot powder mixed with cocoa powder, then I used a makeup brush to apply it to my roots.

Shannon Mattix: Bentonite clay helps with grease wellness mama has a good recipe also I noticed it felt dry so I conditioned it and its got like amazing volume now

Heather Moore: I do conditioner only washing...5 weeks in and im in love....you might have an easier time transitioning if you started wh conditioner for a bit first

Oshioshi Oshioshi: Yes i use dry Rhamnus leaves as a shampoo , I swear it's amazing you should try it , and it's helpful, read about it , this is my first week without shampoo and i use rhamnus and i feel good

Frankie: hot water could damage the scalp and would encourage more oil production. I got rid of shampoo by extending the time between shampoos . Saves having to go through the grease period

Irishcloth: Hey so this is my opinion. I think your video was great and your hair doesnt look dirty at all. :)

Ryouko: What if you exercise everyday? Do you rinse your hair with water or just leave it and wash it off with water the next day? I work out everyday so is rinsing hair with water daily okay?

This Simplified Home: I tried for a few months and it was great, but then it got greasy again. So now I'm washing with shampoo once a week. I never heard of using honey, so I think maybe I'll try that out!

gmakes3tabers: So interesting!! I'm definitely interested in trying!

savi ydv: My hair gets so dry while I use shampoo. Can I use this method so that my hair get a life? N after honey rinse, should we rinse hair again with plain water? Please reply.

Lu P: I'm using cornflour with coffee, long massage, rinse with warm water and than straight cold water. Weak vinigar rinse and as a hair perfume water with few drops of organic lavender oil. Into ends few drops of argan oil.

Chronic Reader: My hair used to be super oily and extremely itchy. I asked a friend about her hair and she said that she only washes a couple times a week. I thought that would only make the oil problems worse and the itchy problem unbearable. I started every other day and not I am down to using shampoo twice a week. I have a lot less grease and little to no itching and my curls hold together longer and have a lot less frizz. I am not sure I could  go the full  no shampoo method  but I like the texture of my "dirty" hair more than my "clean" hair.

Jackie's CrazyNest: Our husbands are attracted and like our natural body smells it's perfume to them! That's what mine tells me! Lol! I haven't washed my hair in several years some weeks I completely skip and some weeks I may give it a quick wash with a gentle cleanser. My hair is naturally curly. So it's always wild and cannot be contained! Good luck, your hair looks just fine!

Manu: I love your personality!

Miss Dappertje: Dear Talya, can you please tell me if you the no poo method also helps against a very sensitive scalp?? I hope to hear from you!! :-)

Diana Collado: Gonna try this now so exciting no shampoo woo-hoo

Peter James: Update 4 years later? I never use shampoo only conditioner. I am going only water starting today...

Jen Mishelin: I don't know what it is about your face but you're so pretty... I'm probably going to do this soon, but I don't know if I should first just shampoo with no conditioner or anything else to wash out all the silicone I put in my hair over the years, plus my hair is really long (to my belly button - just cut, used to be ass length) and I'm dreading the transition. Shouldn't be that bad tho (I hope xD), I got my hair used to washing it once a week. Did anyone do this with first quitting shampoo and then later on conditioner? I have a really tough time brushing my hair without it, mainly because of the length.

Marie Mai: Unfortunately the honey industry is worse than the mafia, but interesting video anyway. Thank you.

Joyful Selah: Is there an update video?

gmakes3tabers: Yay!!! I do! I just added you! :) I'm private, but just request! Also, how is the no shampoo method going? Update video?

Skye Travers: I’m gonna try this because all these damn shampoos are making my head irritated and I have dandruff as driving me crazy so please tell me more and when I do wash my hair with water should it be cool or warm or does it matter?

gretchen white: You have to use soft water

Nora Gross: You should try Dr. Bronner's Organic Pump Soap!! It's all natural and organic and doesn't contain any chemicals. I get mine at earthfare. They also make a Castile soap that's great too but can be drying. Then do an apple cider vinegar rinse after you "shampoo" to act like a conditioner - this will balance out the PH in your hair. Your hair will look and feel amazing once it dries and the vinegar smell will go away too!! You can put some essential oil drops into the rinse if you want for a lasting scent!

tiffany gantt: aritha and Shakaikai powder are AMAZING or u can use clay too

gretchen white: I am in the same place right now

Beata Turczyn: I wash my hair with shampoo today bc I couldn't look at myself :(

Jose Rivera: I don't think your hair looks greasy

Liessie: Sorry, I get dirty, sticky hair of using such brush. I threw it away.

Umm Ali's Happy Home: I know this video is older but long tern use of coconut oil will dry your hair out. Also have you tried using essential oils. I just started 2 days ago...i would only shampoo once a week anyways so I figured why not. I looked up some stuff about essential oils and using butters for moisture.

Katelyn S. Bolds: If you just use water, how do fuzzies and dandruff get out of your hair? Not sure how I feel about that...

Arianna Ruiz: Hearing "ain't no one got time for that" as viewer in 2020...

Rachel Polo: And what about lice?

ravenwyld: My brother keeps bees

Dmitrijs Godins: by the way you look like one hollywood actress. the one from movie "wicker park". you look like a girl who was trying to set apart woman and men who felt in love. did you watched that movie? cuz im not just saying it, you really look like her. im actually kinda waiting answer like "yes its me" lol ))

Engformation Aus: Oh my! Ur teeth are so beautiful

gmakes3tabers: Hahaha!! Right on. Let's not talk about the under arms. LOL. I kid...........

Meh OuO: Eggs are literally the best thing I've ever put inmy hair

Scott Richardson: Looks greasy

Dmitrijs Godins: Mary Rose Byrne is the name of that actress.

Dmitrijs Godins: is it ur sister? you also have Rose in ur name

TheMostBeautiful: Really good ! *Argan Rain natural shampoo* can do wonders. Avoid product with alcohol in it, as they dry out your scalp. I have also read putting argan oil on your scalp works. I tried this, and it did work wonders.

Ayisha Yousafzai: U look like the old version of Charlie d’amelio. The tik tok star

american Dingo: Just out of curiosity, would you shower/clean your body with water only? Oil attracts dirt etc. Water only doesnt work. And your hair will look limp and dull very quickly. Do you think your hair has an invisible force field around it thst prevents dust, road dirt, pollen, dirt dust, animal dander...all the things that get kicked up in the air and settle on you? Yes it will smell eventually if you sweat. If water only worked we wouldnt need soap or laundry detergent.

Tee Gee: Thats a very cute child, but did she have to be in that review? it's a little bit distracting,
