Hey, what's up guys so today I have another DIY hair product recipe. I have a video that I put out, I think, probably like 3 years ago, of a hot oil treatment, that I did it's really old and um the hot oil treatment in a really really really long time. In fact, I actually stopped doing hot oil treatments for a very long time, because I really didn't feel like I needed it. I was kind of like fine to just deep conditioning go, but with my recent hair color and having to try new things, I guess kind of go back to old things, I'm kind of going back to my basics. Now I really wanted to try a hot oil treatment using different oils on a different technique and see how that worked with my hair and I really loved it. I really love what it's been doing to my hair. My hair is more moisturize shinier. Yes, my hair is just naturally very shiny, but I have to mention that when I got my hair dye, it definitely depleted. My hair of a lot of that shine and the things that I've been doing has been really helping my hair to thrive and bring that shine back. And I don't do this every week. It'S kind of more like every other week, because I don't deep conditioned when I do this and I kind of want to make sure that I'm still deep conditioning. So it's kind of been like a hot, well treatment a week that I'm deep conditioned and a hot oil treatment kind of like rotating it to and my hair has been really loving this recipe. I also love that it's overnight, so I don't have to really spend a lot of time waiting for it to sit in so anyway. I just wanted to give you guys a little bit of intro about what you're going to see and I just really love the way that it makes my hair feel and look iced tea. I just kind of wanted to try everything and just go for it, and now that I did that I'm kind of like stepping back and wanting to just go back to my basics. Obviously I learned a lot last year about my hair and about different processes about different products, some products - I definitely want to keep in my rotation, but as far as everything else, I'm kind of just going back to my basics. The things that I really loved in the beginning and that I kind of strayed from in my whole journey of wanting to try new things going back to what I know works and what I know my hair loves a little bit nervous because you know I have Colored hair and I thought that maybe it wouldn't work, but my hair has been loving it and this one is taking it all the way back to the hot oil treatment right. You guys enjoy video and seeing the next one, alright guys. I use a good amount of oils for this recipe. You probably already own most of these oils, but if you don't no worries you can use whatever you want use, one of the oils use all of the oils. It'S totally up to you for those who do want to go all out with the nutrients. Here'S my awesome recipe for shiny baby, soft hair, so, first up, it's coconut oil you'll need two large heaping spoonfuls olive oils. Next you're gon na need two teaspoons, we're gon na add about a half, a teaspoon of sweet almond oil, one teaspoon of castor oil; 1/2, a teaspoon of avocado oil; 1/2, a teaspoon of rosehip seed oil, argan oil, which usually comes in a pump bottle. So we're just going to use 20 pumps about 20 drops of nettle extract and about 20 drops of horsetail extract. Now I'm placing the oils in a hot water bath, so it'll, slowly melt and mix together. I like the hot water bath to gently warm the oils. So that the nutrients aren't lost, so I'm just gon na leave that in there until the coconut oil melts and you can mix the oils together now just a side note. I know it's called a hot oil treatment, but you don't have to technically warm the oils in order for this to work, if I'm gon na rush or if I'm really lazy and tired, I just mix the oils together and plop that on my hair during the Night, all the heat from my head is gon na warm that oil up anyway, but if I can, I prefer to warm the oils because for one it's easier to apply, I can use less of the oils, and I like that. My hair feels soft immediately when I apply the warm oil rather than having to wait for it to kind of sink in and heat up. Okay, I'm gon na split my hair into two halves to start blending one half out of the way working one side at a time. I split that in half, if you can finger detangle a section, I'm gon na add some moisture by spritzing the hair with water to dampen it, and you don't want your hair soaking wet, but just damp as you sleep on it. The water is gon na multiply. So just work that water in and now we can add our lovely warm oil treatment, and I make this easier to apply by pouring it into a plastic applicator bottle. But of course that's totally optional. I just pour a good amount of the oil all over the section of hair from roots all the way to the ends, and I massage that when I feel that the oils are evenly distributed, I just split that section in half twist the section gently and then Wrap the section into a bantu knot just to keep it out of the way. As I work on other sections, then I just grab the next section and repeat the same steps. If you can you'll want a finger to tangle the hair moisturize with water and work that in and then apply the oil all over the hair from their roots, all the way down to the ends, and then you're gon na want to work that into the hair. As well when you feel that the oil is evenly distributed with the section in half twist, it all the way down and wrap it into a bantu knot for safekeeping. Now, just repeat this same process. To the other side, I make sure to use every bit of oil, and I mean every last bit yep. I grab that original bowl with all the oils, and I do one last clean sweep with my hair waste, not want not so when you're all done. There should be four bantu knots, two in the back and two in the front, so to make this more comfortable to sleep on, I unravel each bantu knot pulling the twists up to the top of my head and I wrap that into a small loose bun. So I don't feel it as I sleep, okay, so a plastic cap to trap in the moisture and heat. This will also help the oils to really penetrate the hair overnight and grab the longest sock or cotton scarf that you own. This is a knee-high sock and we're gon na use this as a safety guard to trap any oils that may decide to leak out overnight so wrap it from the back towards the front tying it in a loose knot. On top and I like to add one more layer - protection using my old satin scarf just in case, and yes, I realize that this is not the most attractive look, but your hair is gon na. Thank you in the morning. If you want to look cute, you can add a little bow accessory to no no okay moving on the next morning. Just remove the sock and the plastic cap, then rinse the oils out and cleanse your hair like normal and you're gon na notice that your hair feels so soft and moisturized. So here's my hair after my shower. It'S super moisturized, soft and shiny, and I want to show you my hair after it was styled. This is a flexi rod set, which I already have a tutorial for. If you want to see that video, you can click the link on the screen and I'll also put it in the description box. But again you can see how moist and shiny my hair looks even the colored sections. So I hope you guys give it a try. If you do, let me know on my facebook, twitter or instagram alright guys, so I really hope this helped and I'll see you in the next one click the link to the left to see my current favorite DIY home made deep conditioner recipe. It leaves my hair so unbelievably soft and if you have time and like vlogs click, the link to the right to come, hang out with me and my family as we celebrate a good friend's wedding.

b200484: Is nice to see black woman wearing their natural hair. You guys are doing wonderful JOBS!!

Ilover wade: To save you time so you won't have to keep on playing and stopping your video to write the oils down she used .Coconut oil .olive oil .sweet Almond oil .Castor oil .Avocado oil .Roseip seed oil .Argan oil .Nettle extract .Horsetail extract Sorry if I spelt anny oils wrong hey its 12 in the morning I am tierd and I counted 9 oils you're welcome America

Okerokeka: One day my hair will be long enough to do 4 twists like that. One day.

ELM: Never thought I'd say this, but my hair is actually longer than yours! Your videos and tips are amazing, thank you for consistently uploading!xo

Isis Weber: I just used this on my daughter and I immediately noticed the difference. She has a mixture of 4c hair and extremely curly to the roots soft front hair but it's extremely dry and damaged. As soon as I applied the oils it became nice, soft and manageable. I will update tomorrow morning after I wash it out. I also had enough left to put on my hair as well and also noticed a difference:-)

Dakota Rey: This is amazing! Your hair is so healthy and long. I'm proud of the change that natural hair is beautiful. Most of Our generations grew up with the message that we need to "take care" of our hair by relaxing. I'm since a few years back to basic. I wasted it years on realaxing and damaging my hair. Now it's happy and growing. I have lots of info what to do with it as well. We can be proud wearing it just as we are born with it.

The Feeling Lion: This was LIFE CHANGING for me! My hair is so shiny, silky, and soft!! I forgot to order rose hips seed oil, but I substituted that for grapeseed oil, added jojoba oil, red clover extract and dandelion root extract. My mop was apparently thirsty af because the difference is night and day!! Hey hair felt so awful before, now I can hardly keep my fingers out of it! You’re a godsend! ❤️

Vânia Luz: Seu cabelo está cada vez mais lindo. *Amo tratamentos herbais no cabelo ^_^*

Lodz: Can always count on you for amazing hair care tips! Thank you beautiful!

China Cee: This is going to be my third time doing the big chop and going natural... I lost hope and patience in the past but thanks to you I wanna jump back into my healthy natural hair journey. I watch the VLOGS and see how far your hair has come and just with that extra bit of attention you spend on your hair I know I can do the same!

Curls of Innocence Hair, Health, & Homeschooling: LMAO at the bow thing! You're hilarious. Love the video. I need to get back into doing hot oil treatments myself, because my hair is just about your length and bleached in certain areas like yours. So I have super winter dryness sometimes. Sometimes deep conditioning alone doesn't quite do it. Thanks for resurrecting the idea to me! ;)

Curious100: I just recently tried this and I LOVED it! I've been natural for a little over a year but my twist-outs (heck my hair in general) is always dry looking. I am so glad that I tried this! I've been watching your vlogs for a long time because my daughter told me you were amazing. Her natural hair looks beautiful so I figured you were great but I got caught up watching your personal channel, fell in love with Olivia and forgot about following this channel. I've watched since she was a baby, she is adorable and Felipe is hilarious! I love everything about your channel - you, Felipe, OLIVIA, your parents, JuJu, Liam, Penny, Felipe's mom, Sariyah. My daughter and I were the first in line when you came to DC. I do watch your hair channel once in a while but until this hot oil treatment I never really tried anything. I did learn how to do bantu knots from you but I couldn't do two strand twists the way you do. This hot oil treatment though! My hair is so soft and moisturized. Thank you.

Mrs .Shelia Fly: I really love your hair journey over the years, and all the great healthy recipes/oils you make, and you have a great personality.

Michelle Rodgers: I've returned to flexirod sets, curlformer sets (to twist outs) as well this winter because wet twist outs seem to be too much manipulation for my hair this winter. I've also made sure to pre-poo with oil or oil and conditioner before washing...totally changes the moisture levels in your hair, thanks for sharing!

beautifulL52: I'm so glad I found your channel. I've been changing up my hair routine, all organic material and my hair has grown 4-5inches. In about 6-7months. That's so fast and so good. Its all thanks to you girl!!! ☺ I wish every girl could do what you do, I feel so sorry for those girls that fry their hair and it all falls out but they don't know any better. I wish I could show them your channel and have their hair grow. I love my hair right now its a little past my shoulders and I love it!!! Strong healthy and shiny!

Phyl Sands: Hey naptural! I've been using your home made hair products for a few years and my hair has become healthier and more manageable. But since I've had my second son and added your home made protien sensitive deep conditioners to my regime my hair has been shedding tons!! I've always used aloe and I have access to lots of avocados here in The Bahamas, so I thought it would be economical and good for my hair. I heard the black tea rinse so I gave it a try with little results. It's been almost a year now, so at this point I'm really worried. It can't still be hormones right? Any suggestions?

DDreamLove3: Hi Whitney, I have a question from one of your old videos. I've been using your homemade deep conditioner w/ apple cider and egg from 2010 for a long time and it's great but it always turns out loose and runny and slides down the side of my face. What can I do to make the consistency thicker? BTW thank you for all of your helpful formulas and DIY videos.

black.and.nerdy: I nominate this for the best #throwbackthursday this week! Definitely am going to try this. I do appreciate that your basics have always been products and processes that are accessible and healthy. I use a lot of things, like Shea butter cream and the oil mixture, on my daughter's hair. Thanks Whit!

NaturallyWhit: Absolutely loved this hot oil treatment. I have colored hair and I was recently experiencing dryness. This made my hair feel like a baby's bottom! Thank you so much Nap!!!!

Britt BROWN: Before my questions begin.. You are so beautiful & your such any inspiration by all means. I've been transitioning for a year now (well it will be one year May 27) and might I add that you've really motivated me in so many ways words can't explain ❤ Anywho, my question is based on this video. How often should/need to do Hot Oil Treatments? And.. How often do I need to oil my scalp? (Is that the same thing?) Hot Oil Trtmnts & scalp oily?

Sandrell Hill: I love love LOVE this oil treatment, Whitney!! I substituted some of my own oils for some of the ones you used--Horsetail for Jojoba oil, I didn't have Avocado oil so I used Vitamin E for that. All the other oils I had thanks to your previous videos. And I also love that you leave this in overnight. Omg, after using this, my hair hasn't shed as much, it's softer and much much less frizzy. Frizz and dryness are the main problems I have with my hair. Thank you SO much for this video! I'm in love with the fact that you use natural products that nourish your hair and have it looking healthy and beautiful. I'd be so lost in caring for my natural hair if not for your informative channel. Thank you 100 times for loving what you do!

Mountain Rose Herbs: What a fabulous nutritive recipe :) Thanks so much for including Mountain Rose Herbs in your Back to Basics treatment. Cheers! ~Kori

NaMichelle Grove: First of all, I've been watching you for years, since your hair was above your shoulders. Thank you for all your videos, they helped me through many natural hair journey bumps in the road. Lol. I enjoy your overall bubbly personality and the perspective you share with us on life, love, marriage, being a mommy, health and most definitely hair. My question is more for the music in your videos, especially this one, where can I find this song? Hopefully you see this through all the other comments. Take care beautiful!

GellyxGello TV: You've inspired me to go natural, Whitney! 7 months strong! <3 Your hair is gorgeous!

Brittney Whitfield: It seems like my mom and I did hot oil treatments more when we were relaxed than now that we are natural. Definitely gonna have to add it back to the routine!

Sun and Sunflowers: Yes just did a hot oil treatment yesterday my hair needed almond oil, olive oil and tea tree oil on my scalp...loved it. Your hair looks fantastic

Ellie Rose: THANK YOU!!!! Love this. One thing I like about your videos is that you're not wearing crazy thick makeup or false eyelashes. Thank you for keeping it real. Also, I don't think most people have as much hair as you and won't have 4 buns. I can do 2 or 3.

karma centrik: I'm doing this on the weekend!!!! Your hair looks so healthy and renewed, love it. Thank you for yet another stellar post Whitney!!

shawnette marie: This is the best I have seen your hair look since you got it colored!  Those hot oil treatments are REALLY saving your tresses.  Your hair looks moisturized and healthy like it did before. Your color looks even more amazing now!

AnArchaicSoul: I'll be doing the Cherry Lola Caramel Treatment this weekend. My hair needs a good deep conditioning. I'll add in some of the oils you suggested! You're hair looks beautiful as always!

Kayla Morgan: I have been doing this treatment every wash day for the past month and my hair loves it! I think I have experienced a growth boost too but im not sure. Anyway this is a fabulous treatment. My hair is soft and shiny I love it!

Kyisha Thompson: This mix is most of what I have in my DIY hair/body oil. I haven't tried it as a hot oil treatment, but my hair and scalp love it.

Questen Benjamin: Hey Whitney, Thanks so much for your dedication and commitment to your hair and this community! :) From the video I gauge that you alternate applying a deep condition and a hot oil treatment. If this is the case, when do you cowash and how vital is this? Best!

Anna W: Hey :) so I cut all of my hair off about two years ago because I finally decided to go natural but your videos actually saved me from a lot of horrible hair days. You showed me how to care for and manage my hair, so that you so much :D

shaneka Mathis: I have a protective style & watching your videos makes me wanna take them out & do everything you do lol !! Thank you for your videos !!

TheMegasash: I've started doing hot oil treatments again too. I'm only using Shea butter melted down, mixed with almond oil. So far its helped tremendously with smoothing my hair shaft and eliminating ssk. Definitely will be a winter staple going forward.

HellsOnlyBelle: I really appreciate that you gave the descriptions of what each oil does for your hair and scalp, that was incredibly helpful! Thank you

LaTasha King: Hey love your videos they have been very helpful during my natural journey!! Is there any tips or advice you can give me for my hair during pregnancy? I have been natural for almost 3yrs and I am 27weeks pregnant now and doing my hair has been a task I appreciate any information you can give

Faith Bell: Tried your hot oil hair treatment technique this morning. Used olive oil, grapeseed oil, argan oil, and rosemary essential oil. Not an overnight application, so I'll see how it turns out in a couple hours. But my hair felt super soft just applying the oil!

Niecey Dee: Loved this video! Can't wait till my transition is complete and my hair is as healthy as yours

Lifesfun 101: Great video! Hot oil treatments are wonderful for the dry winter months! Thanks Whitney for a sharing a new "Diy" recipe...Lol @ the cute bow!

Natmari: Great video! My hair loves hot oil treatments too. Glad to see you doing you diy videos again :)

Chris E: I just put into the universe that I wanted to do an oil treatment and your video appeared! Great video as usual. Thanks, Whitney!

trinigyul: I use a mix of coconut oil and avacado oil cuz they are penetrating. I also do it overnight cuz oils take many hours to penetrate the hair shaft, the results are awesome.

Tieasha Samuels: I swear my hair loves hot oil treatments & my intention every time is to keep it in overnight. Then the running down my neck & face starts, my skin crawls & I'm under the sink before I know it. I wrap my head triple time & nothing works. But I agree it's a great treatment for soft hair. Thanks for an updated version!

Sabrina White: I love it. I have a bottle of mixed oils also. Sometimes I use it to touch up after I style my hair when it looks a little dry. Your hair looks awesome!

Lisa Arnold: LOVE YOUR DIY VLOGS!!! Thanks for sharing! They REALLY are helpful

Eva Vargas: Omg using a applicator bottle is genius! Lol. I've been doing oil treatments for a few years now and that's gonna help so much. I usually just slop it on there getting it everywhere lol. I also use my hair to get every last drop from the bowl! Thanks for the video!

iamkellij: Am I the only natural that doesn't like coconut oil? My hair hates it. It just sits there. It doesn't to anything. My hair loves olive oil, grapeseed oil and argan oil

Michelle Vigilante: Thank you so much!!! This really works!! My hair has been so dry since moving to Iowa in November. I used all except the nettle and horsetail and my hair felt soooooo soft. Ive always had thick 4b hair and this has helped me to love it even more!! Still searching for a great cowash and leave in...

E Law: Yay, I'm glad you tried the hot oil treatment on your colored hair. It's my go to treatment for my color - treated hair. Much success!

Gloria Mitchell: I absolutely LOVE all your videos.... Thank You for helping me thru this journey!!

Kayla Morgan: I did this last night and omg my hair loved it! I will be doing it every other week, thanks so much

prettyinpink9893: SO I did this last night with coconut oil, Aragon oil, castor oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, castor oil, grape seed oil and avocado oil!! (I know it's a lot) Then this morning I cowshed with As I am Co wash. My hair has NEVER felt so soft!!

Un_Real: Love this tutorial you're really an inspiration thank you

Melody Apple: Thank you for all the wonderful information!   I loved when you put the bow on your satin scarf.  Too adorable!  :)

Neva Kuhnke: I'm excited to try this! This seems to be more beneficial than my every day oil application! Normally, I just mix my oils in a spray bottle with some water and apply that every morning. :-P

Raylovenaturals: Love it! Esp the added bow! Girl, we do not care how we look when it comes to going to bed. Most naturals have moved on past that! But that was hilarious!

Tara: Once again Whit, you came up with something amazing. I did it and my hair felt great. Thank you again...

Yalonda Taylor: Thanks for the video. Love your hair growth and strength. I have all the oils except 2 and going to purchase them this week. My hair is really dry and rough. Praying this helps. How often should you do a hot oil treatment on your hair?

JAMlover55: I love this! So i feel like my hair just hates me, I've finally gotten it to grow to the tops of my shoulders but that's it. It's almost like my hair just decided to stop growing, i've gotten it trimmed and everything xD I Absolutely love you're channel and i've done a lot of you techniques which has has helped with dryness and other things. You give me a lot of hope i just don't think my hair feels the same way lol
