Don't Forget To Live Your Extra Life.

Hi beautiful it honestly is just a very big coincidence that i am now blonde again and i'm filming a video about t18. I did not plan this, but i just sat down to film. It'S honestly perfect, so yeah hi i'm blonde and we're talking about t18. You guys know, oh my god, if you know anything about me and have watched basically any of my videos. You know that me and t18 have a very love hate sort of thing going on sometimes t18 is great. Sometimes i never want to see it again and most of you guys out there use it for everything every single thing. If your hair is orange and you want to be blonde well, that's okay, we have t18. No, it doesn't work like that or my hair is bright, yellow. Let me just put some tat on there. That'Ll fix everything it won't t-18 will not save your bleaching disasters, but t-18 does do some very useful things which i will get into today. If you're thinking about using t18 or you've used it in the past with not great results, i'm here to finally explain what is t18 and why do so many people use it, and why do so many people love it, and so many people also have just really Bad experiences with it, i got you girl, so let's get into it scene, one act one. What is t18 t18 is a toner that is mixed with 20 volume developer. To provide you with that extra lift and long lasting toning benefits. You got it and specifically, t18. Is designed to give you that extra white bright double process pure cheat white hair that everybody wants? Well, everybody who's blonde wants that. So the reason why you mix t18, with 20 volume is because 20 volume will actually lift your hair. You use 20 volume. Also, when you do permanent hair color, so using it with a sort of permanent toner is going to actually lift your hair. That means it's going to open up that cuticle. Take out some of those color molecules out of your hair and then it's going to deposit tone on top of that and that tone will be deposited inside of the hair shaft, not laying on top like a gloss or a glaze. It is actually being sealed. Inside of the hair strand, so the great part about that is that if your hair is not quite quite where it's supposed to be in order to use just a regular gloss with a much lower developer, you can use a 20 volume with t18, and that will Provide you with that little bit of lift to get your hair, nice and white it'll, also deposit, that perfect amount of purple pigment in order to get your hair, nice and silvery and white and gorgeous. But i did go on the website and kind of look through their educational book, and it said this. It says that your hair must be lifted, two pale yellow in order to use t18. So let me say that again, if you want to follow the directions correctly, it says to lift your hair to pale yellow before using this product. So wella is literally telling you to not use this stuff on yellow hair, never mind orange or like brown, which i've also seen people use it on. So don't do that it's pro and con time. I know everything i just told you. It seems like. Oh, my god, i'm gon na go buy this product immediately like yes, yes, yes, this is what my blonde hair needed. No okay! There are some downsides to using this product if you do not use it correctly and just general downsides of the product, let's go over. The pros first t18 will provide you with that extra extra lift to get your hair to that pure white stage. This is exactly what i said before, because we're using 20 volume we're actually going inside the hair strand and lifting the color molecules out. It'S going to provide you that extra amount of lift then say a gloss that is mixed with a developer less than 10 volume, because that will hardly provide any kind of lift and it'll only have the color molecules attached to pretty much the surface of the hair Strand, maybe slightly inside, but you will not get the same kind of effects as you will with well a t18 mix with 20 volume that is going to blast the hair open, put those color molecules in and seal it back up and to piggyback off. The first point, the second pro has to do the same thing. So it's going to provide you with long, lasting color benefits, and i said this before, but i'll say it again, because it is lifting that hair strand taking those color molecules out and then adding the new ones in and then sealing it back up. You'Re gon na get longer lasting color benefits, and this toner will last a lot longer than say a glaze or gloss that sits on the top of your hair strand. It'S easily accessible. You can find this stuff everywhere, especially sally's, so you know i've definitely used it when i'm in a pinch, and i'm like. Oh my god, i don't know where i am there's no professional stores around here. Let me just go and get some d18. You know it's good in a pinch, this product is also easy to use. I mean pretty much. All toners are easier to use, but like still it's easy to use, you just mix it and you put it on your hair and you rinse it off. You know, and lastly, if this product is used correctly, you will have the most flawless perfect white blonde hair imaginable and every blonde out there wants that. I know you too, very, very rarely. Does somebody come into a salon asking for like uh? Can i get like the golden blonde like no, it's always like. Can i get my hair white? I want it white as and we're on to the cons. We finally made it to the section where i tell you why this isn't great for everybody. The number one con is that this burns, like i've, had to stop using it purely because it hurts so bad like if you lighten your hair, it literally strips all of the oils, all the natural good stuff off of your scalp and then t18 is combined with 20 volume and then put on your scalp so putting peroxide on your already stripped scalp it burns, and if anybody out there has ever used it, you will know just how bad it hurts and you will relate so leaving that on there for up to 30 minutes. No, i don't want that. Second, con is that it's harsh on the hair and it can make your hair snap off because we're using 20 volume after already previously lightening the hair. You need to be really careful. You don't over process the hair that will result in your hair, breaking and snapping and turning to mush - and it's not cute number three. I guess this isn't really a con, but we're gon na put on the list anyways. This can only be used on hair. That is pale, yellow and honestly, every single toner is made for a certain level. That'S not really like a con, because it's not the products fall. It'S made like that, but it's a con for you because i know so many of you are going to try and use this on your orange hair. It'S not going to work, it only works on pale yellow. This is what pale yellow looks like next. It has a really intense smell, so, if you're sensitive to smell, don't use this, it literally burns your nostrils, it's not fun, but a lot of hair color is not fun. So what are you gon na do about it? Next, it can pick up gray on hair that is over lightened. So if you're putting this on top of your hair, that is almost past the pale yellow stage and you leave it on too long. It can easily turn gray and you can end up with like really dingy dark hair and when your goal is to have that really light blonde platinum hair. If you go anywhere past that platinum, you're going to get gray and your hair is going to appear a lot darker because more blue and purple based tones do not reflect light as well as golden tones. So if you don't have any gold in your hair, it's gon na look dingy and not shiny and not cute, and next it can give you uneven results. If parts of your hair are blonde and parts are darker and they're all highlighted, it can make the browner darker parts like a weird like violet brown and then the lighter parts, a super gray color. So you have to be careful when putting this on hair. That is multi-dimensional. It'S really not good to do unless your hair is completely platinum, blonde, all over all lightened everywhere. Okay, we've made it things to remember when using t18 do not use t18. If you have roots this is to be used on a fresh bleaching, because you're using 20 volume with your toner, it will lighten your natural hair color and it will turn orange. So don't do that next! Leave this on your hair for enough time for it to actually work, i see people putting it on for one minute, freaking out rinsing. It off. Believe me, i've been there! I'Ve done that! You need to leave this stuff on. It needs to turn like fully purple. In order for it to actually work so once you visually see it like really really dark purple - and it's been like, you know, 20 30 minutes you're good. You can rinse it off now. You'Ve successfully toned your hair. Next. Only use 20 volume with this product do not try and use 30 or 40 volume. It is not recommended. They do not tell you that on this box right here they don't say it i'm reading it. I see people all the time using this 30 volume and guys i just wouldn't do it, because it's not recommended next - and i repeat this again - i think i said this three times now only use this product. If your hair is pale yellow, we got that one. Okay, good should repeat it again, and if your hair is not pale, yellow you must lighten it again with bleach. Toner is not going to bring you from a dark orange to a pale, yellow blonde or even a white blonde. It'S not gon na do it. So i did a test today, just to show you what happens when i used it on two different colors. One was a level 10 this one right here and the next is a level nine, this one right here now they recommend to use it only on a level 10. So i'm going to show you what it looks like on a level nine. Just in case, you want to try and use it on the shade. It'S not recommended for i'm gon na show you what happens. Okay, here we go mixing t18 one part t18 with two parts: developer 20 volume developer and i'm using the color charm cream developer that it's supposed to be used with. So i recommend you know if you can use the exact developer that you're supposed to use with that product. So here are the starting levels. This one is nice and bright white, a little bit of yellow in there. This is pale, yellow, okay, you guys, and then we have a level nine. That is actually not too warm of a level nine, but it is definitely not a level 10 pale yellow. So you will see the difference here on a little ten and a level nine. Okay, so here is me trying to apply this to the hair while recording, so i failed here you go. This is me applying to the level 10, and this is me applying it to level 9 and we're moving on, and here are the results so level 10. It definitely comes off a little bit more gray on camera, but in real life it is pure white and really beautiful, and now the level nine see how it didn't really make much of a difference see because you need to use it on a level 10.. This is just not gon na work, it's not gon na cut, it did like a tiny, tiny bit of toning, but definitely it does not look like the bright white hair. Everybody wants it doesn't. So we have one last thing to do and that is to show you the wrong way of using it and the right way of using it through some diys i found on the youtubes. Let'S do a quick glance up. First, we have a video by layla and this is called bleaching and toning, my hair at home plus well a t18 okay. So here we are. She is gon na try and tone this with t-18 and guess what you guys this pill, yellow it's orange. So guess what it's not gon na work so we're applying it all over things are looking promising it's getting nice and purple, it could work, it could maybe not work. It probably won't work. It'S definitely not going to work ooh. What happened to all the orange? Is it just underneath that purple 100, it definitely is, let's see the results, as you can see, it didn't work, and why is that? You guys, because her hair wasn't lifted light enough before using t-teen t-team works on level 10. Only. Thank you for that. Okay, now just for the fun, if we're gon na watch one more bad one, because it's just too it's too good. This one is by hey mess beauty, and this is toning, my bleached hair with well a teen toner. Oh, my god, it works. I don't know about that girl. I saw this and it doesn't work, so this is her hair to start yellow at the roots, orange and copper throughout the mids and ends and we're wetting it down and we're putting voila t18 on now. Clearly, her hair is way too dark to be using this, and it's just not going to do much of anything maybe turn a few streaks of her hair that are lightened pale, yellow. Maybe they might trim gray. So here are the results, as you can see, her hair is not white. She does like it, so i'm happy for her, but it did not do what t18 is intended to do, which is tone pal, yellow hair. Now, let's check out somebody with level 10 hair that use the product correctly. This video is by sutton and grove, and this is called diy icy, white, platinum, blonde hair tutorial so excited. So this is her starting point. As you can see, it is so blonde. It'S what i love to see it's lifted perfectly. Her roots are flawless. It looks amazing and now she's putting that t-18 on to just knock it out of the park. It'S gon na turn, nice and purple and she's gon na get it all over and it is going to come out great because she's using it as the products intended to be used. This is the kind of color you need to start with. It'S looking purple and i'm excited to see what goes on. What happens? I'M excited yes, absolutely and here's the results perfectly. Even shimmering beautiful white hair. She used the product correctly. Well now you know how to use it, how to not use it when to use it. When done definitely not use, it and you're probably wondering well brad what, if i don't have pale yellow hair? What do i do and i don't want to bleach it again? What do i do guys? Unfortunately, sometimes i can't explain everything in one video or in 20 videos. Even it does take a lot of experience, a lot of color theory classes in order to fully understand how hair color works. So if you're having issues lightening your hair - and you do not want to make a mistake - and you want it to look incredible - i recommend going to a blonding specialist somebody who really knows how to fix your hair and how to make it look perfect and the Best, it can possibly look. Sometimes i can't teach you everything though i try, but you know if you're willing to sort of mess it up, maybe possibly look up some videos on youtube. I'M sure there's information out there on how you can tone your exact colored hair. The way it is right now or how you can just make it look better, because i'm sure some of you watching do not have pale, yellow hair and would like it to be bright, white blonde um and do not possibly want to bleach it again. So good luck, okay, i'm gon na share with you! My final words do i use this product? No not currently i'm pretty good at getting people lifted to the perfect shade and then using say a six percent developer on top of that, and it turns out perfect, her hair looks very shiny. It adds to the health of it by not using a permanent toner of sorts. I just prefer using something that is less harsh and isn't gon na get somebody feeling uncomfortable while getting their hair done, though i have used it before and probably will use it in the future, just in case those times where somebody has extremely black hair, and you Just can't get them lifted all the way up by just using lightener. Sometimes i will go in with 20 volume and while a t18 and just kick that yellow right out of there without having to bleach it again. And lastly, i do like t-18. I know i've gone back and forth about this product throughout the years, but i'm gon na say it now. I do not hate t18, i actually quite like it, but it's always almost used incorrectly, and that is the thing that i hate and i'm not being paid to say this. There'S nobody standing over there forcing me to say this. So this product is not gon na save your bleach disasters. It'S not gon na save your orange hair. It'S not gon na make it pure white. If you don't already have pale, yellow hair, so save your money unless you're the right candidate for this product, and that's all thank you guys for watching good luck with your blonde ambitions. Don'T forget to follow me everywhere else here on. My social media handles also check out my haircare and my hair color line link down below you can also check us out on instagram listed right here. Thank you guys so much for watching, don't forget to live your extra life and i'll see you next time. Bye guys, you

oli the tamale: i think it’d be really helpful to do a whole wella toner experiment video to show people swatches of them on different levels of hair so they can know the right ones to use

Laura Piacentini Casarin: Brad is the ONLY reason my hair is still dark brown even through the whole thing that happened last year with everyone at home, he is the sole reason i never even imagine touching my own hair alone at home with bleach, and i must thank him everyday <3

Rebekka: Video idea: go through your previous bleach fail reactions and tell us which toners actually would have been better for their hair. This way your viewers get a feeling fot which roots and ends combos they can use on their specific situation (hot roots, bright yellow, orange etc. the right toner combo fixes most).

C J: I think adding in good alternatives to tone with aside from T18 that are affordable and accessible and go with each hair level would’ve helped too btw

Mattia Rea: Also for the con: if you’re a natural blonde and you get highlights/balayage or whatever lightning service that leaves some of your natural color showing if you put a color with 20 volumes all over at the shampoo bowl, the 20 volumes will break your base ending up with your color being brassy because you expose the underline pigment and the toner won’t affect it because it will only shift one level leaving it brassy, and perfectly toned hair on the previously bleached!

Momma2thewilds: I get asked very often how I got my hair so silvery. I am naturally light/medium brown. My secret (do not do this and somehow screw it up and blame me but I've done this prolly 50 times on myself plus more on friends) is that I use volume 30 with it. I don't have to lift it so light with Bleach (I always use a bond builder with my bleach AND toner) and my hair gets so much lighter. I also like to add 1/4 of a bottle of Wella 050 to each full bottle of T18 to get that gorgeous platinum silver with a tiny tint of lilac. I've done half of my head with each way and this has always been my favorite. T18 *can* be gorgeous if you know what you are doing.

Jessica J: I lightened my hair at home and at Sally’s yesterday they *immediately* reached for the wella T18. I politely had to say ‘nah, I’m going for demi permanent toner’. After watching this, I know that was the right move- I wasn’t ready for it, but am loving my level 8 light blonde locks. Thank you for sharing!!

Alicia: Yes! Love this. I’ve been using T18 for years and have had great results and have platinum white hair. I however know that your hair needs to be lifted to at least a level 9 or 10 for it to work. I want to scream at my phone when I see these videos of people using it when they’re at a level 6!

Naujia's Nirvana: I blame Sally’s employees They automatically recommend this even though your hair is dark

Chantel Henderson: Omg, get outta my head!! I was just at a shop yesterday where even though I told her specifically, that I knew I wanted T14, she INSISTED that T18 was the way to go and the most “popular”. So glad this vid is out, now I can watch it and know for sure if my decision was the correct one.

joey Stone: I used T18 or T10 for years! Now I just dilute ultraviolet from manic panic with conditioner. Gives the same results, but less damaging

Jesse Linda Mayer: I got a massive chemical burn from toning my hair with a mix of T10 and T18. My scalp was so damaged I had scabs everywhere. Luckily my hair is insanely thick so unless you parted my hair to look at my scalp you couldn’t tell but I had to be very gentle when brushing my hair for about 2 weeks after until it fully healed. This is serious. Listen to brad.

momhorror: I ended up bleaching my own hair at home last month after being really disappointed with how the stylist did my hair. I've seen so many of Brad's bleaching disaster videos I never excepted to touch my own hair again, but I couldn't afford to go back to the salon. After bleaching my hair twice and using T14 toner I ended up with a beautiful golden blonde color and am so happy with the results.

virgofairy88: I helped bleached my sister’s hair this past spring (she wanted highlights, ugh!) I used T-28, but forgot to remove the temporary purple hair color. Some of her hair turned green (a very light green) so we then added T-15. It worked out great and she was caramel. Her natural hair color is a level 3/4 dark brown. We got lucky.

Kristina Savic: I’m going orange to blonde in November so this is super useful! Thank you Brad ♥️ 0:38 felt personal!

Sunshine&Sunflowers: As I have the wella t18 on my hair, freaking out. Thank goodness my hair was lightened already to a pale yellow BEFORE I put it on and the T18 is doing its job. Thanks Brad. I was burned really badly in a grease fire on Christmas Eve and already have some prettier horrific scarring and get noticed and am having a hard enough time, I used a different bleaching system and it lifted me to a pale yellow instead of a warmer blonde.. I didn’t need the bright yellow to be noticed anymore.

Sam, I Guess I Am: Back when I was 16 I used T18 to get silver hair and I used 30 volume developer after my hair had already been through many bleaches, it turned out beautiful but my hair was very crispy. Now I'm 21 and know way more about hair, I still do my own because it's fun and I enjoy it. I even cut my own hair. Planning to go to cosmetology school once my daughter is in school got a couple more years of waiting

Jennifer Marie Rios: I’ve been watching Brad for about a year now and I feel like I’ve gone through the stages of wanting to bleach my hair bc I think I now have the knowledge from Brad, to never wanting to dye my hair bc I think it’s too much work now

sam coro: This video couldn’t have come at a better time, I had a client today come in for a trim after just bleaching her hair. She had hot roots and brassy level 7 ends, she mentioned she used a toner she had bought at Sally’s and automatically I knew what it was and thought of brad. It was of course t18 she said she wants her hair to be the color of her roots (which is a lovely platinum blonde) and I explained to her why the roots are her desirable color and the rest is not.. she also mentioned at the end that she does in fact watch brads videos.. well honey then you should have already known what the outcome would be lol. She was super sweet and I told her how I can fix it but if she wants to be brave and try again herself how to do it safely at home but I always recommend having a professional do it right the first time. (Not to say us pros are always best we are human and color is never a perfect exact science.) How funny that this video would be uploaded today!

Valerie Hemler: Thank you SO MUCH for this video!! When I worked at Sally’s I used to get so angry that the “hair consultants” that worked there ALWAYS suggested T-18 to everyone who asked about lightening their hair. As the Nail consultant, I didn’t understand how a product was necessary when we don’t know how the lightener would work on each client. (Or if they even read the directions for their specific lightener to begin with). The quote of the day for EVERYONE who wanted to lighten their hair was, “Don’t forget your T-18!” All I could think when I heard this was “Another T-18 disaster hair candidate. God help that future patchy orange head.”

TLP: I'm a level 2 and was able to successfully lift my hair to a level 9 using bleach and 30 volume developer. It takes time and multiple sessions. My hair did not fall out. Yes, it went through all the horrible undertones of fire red to burnt orange to icky orange, etc. I now use a permanent level 8n and 7a equal parts to lift my roots a very pretty brown. I only go to a stylist to put in highlights.

Katelynn Kennison: I was using this whilst toning with T18 SOOO glad after you mentioned that with already super lightened hair it could deposit color. I decided to wash out after 15ish minutes and it came out a wonderful ashy platinum which with my fair skin helped immensely from the pale yellow it was previously!

Hannah Ahuva: This video is great for people to know what they’re getting into. Thank you! I see a lot of people using it when their hair is not ready for this step!

Julie Diana: I have been using T18 for 7 years and I honestly love it. My blonde hair is really light so it just tones it super well lol or should I say, super well-a. Also the “cons” I don’t really have those problems because I bleach and then wait a week in between before I do t18 but yes it does smell strong lol

Elise Rose: BRAD! I’ve been trying to put blonde streaks or something in my own hair. I really need a step by step tutorial on how to do it! I naturally have red hair and there isn’t much info out there for us! please make a video for us!!

Julie Exel: I recently went from dark brown to platinum blonde/silver myself without damaging my hair. It was a slow process and I was very careful in how I did it but I'm so happy how it turned out. I used T14 and T18 together at the end but like he says, what's most important is achieving the right lift first.

The NyLook: I’m a cosmetologist and I’ve never used T18 before in school however I have used wella toners on mannequins and it does give you that lift you want when your hair is a pale yellow. I currently lightened my dark brown/black natural hair to a pale yellow/white rn and I used T14 which is a silver as well it does have a strong smell and my scalp was burning a bit. I don’t have a sensitive scalp either. I left it on or 30 mins when it turned purple. I have 3b/3c curly hair and like I said I’ve never used any chemical service on my hair and I actually like the lift that I got. I also used the ION color brilliance white lightener. Overall it can work if you use it right but I don’t recommend it for new colorists or people who have never used it before. I knew what I wanted in Sally’s however I do take recommendations since I’m unlicensed and can’t go to cosmoprof. I will go back and retake my state board exam cuz certain products I want I just can’t buy.

Chloe Devlin: This video gave me the motivation to finally do my roots and trust the toner process, first time doing it all by myself. I owned it but so much yes to the sore scalp ty, Brad

Ash: Perfect timing for this video. My daughter wants a strip of white hair for Halloween, and I've only ever bleached her undercut to put color on it, so I didn't need a toner. Now, I'm curious what to use if you get it lighter than that pale yellow you showed. Everyone seems to complain that a bunch of these toners turn their hair gray just as you said it would.

Dallyah WD: I went blonde recently and I’m lightening a bit more and I refused to buy T18 because I didn’t want Brad to be disappointed in me lol

Cassondra Lynch: I've bleached my medium brown hair on my own 4 or so times (highlights). The second time I used t18 and it was the most beautiful, flattering color blonde and have never had it done as well professionally so I'm not understanding.. it made any orange I had a beautiful goldish blonde. Think Sarah Michelle Gellar in season two Buffy. It was bright, shiny and so flattering. Maybe luck but again I'm confused by it being called an absolute no go.

Chrissy S: I just used t18 last night. I have discovered that yea it bas to be really light and also a 10 volume for 10 minutes is all you need. I wish I could share a pic. It looks great !

Sparky's Mom: Thank you Brad. I'm almost 60, have white roots, so I wanted to bleach my hair and tone with t18. But I just don't have the fortitude now since you mentioned the burning. Any ideas? Should I just get a bur haircut and let my natural white grow? Help!

Little Dreamer: I love using a mixture of T18 and T27 or 35 to tone. It just balances everything perfect as I do highlights so obviously, I have the pale yellow strands, but also warmer strands that blend in with even darker strands underneath (my nature, level 5-ish hair). I'd love to one day bleach all my hair, but I'm not quiet ballsy enough yet.

Emily S: Lol FINALLY. This video is long overdue

Deanna Morse: Please Brad, develope a toner for us, you already have all the other products. Thank you, love you!

Jamie Barrington: God bless you for your contribution to society, Brad. Love your videos, but I didn't watch this one in time. I made the mistake of believing that T18 would tone my mom's orange hair after I highlighted it. In my defense, I balayage my own hair and usually get decent results, but our hair is very different and I don't know shit beyond what works for my own. But I gave it a stab and she still has orange hair...on her birthday. My poor mom! On the bright side, it finally gave her the push she needed to see a professional tomorrow, so it will be a win at the end. I wish I had watched your video before yesterday, but I think she'll be happy once her colorist corrects the issue. I am sure hair stylists just looove situations like this (lol), but bless you all for having the patience to fix it for us.

Tami Osgood: I always watch the girl with the platinum hair and bangs before I bleach my own hair! She gives me confidence and I love how her hair turns out :)

Mbeans: T18 is great a few times but it can turn the ends grey over time. I use T11 for 15 minutes NOT 30 and I love it. Also never wash your day before and I use Vaseline on my face so it doesn't burn.

Lena Monee: I love this video and it’s sooo thorough with the examples. Thanks for this!

zji: thank you Brad! heard you complain about the t18 for years now! this was a very thorough explanation of the do's and don'ts of t18! i probably won't use it again because my scalp seems to be sensitive to it. i put a high lift blonde dye over my yellowy blonde hair and it came out a nice whitish blonde too, so im sure there are other ways. you're so helpful with your hair care, cutting, and dyeing tips!

Mariam k: Unfortunately I watched this video while the T18 was already processing in my hair!! Brad is absolutely right, if you have dark roots and a balayage AVOID TONING YOUR ROOTS (DARK HAIR) at all costs!! My roots are now orange and hideous!!

Family B: Thank you for the video! Love to watch all your video's, Im learning a lot! Im finally super ash blonde (more to my natural hair), so I dont need it but I love watching things like this.

a r r ê t e z v o u s . e x e: Bead saying T-18 will not work on hair that isn’t level 10 is just like him saying bleach doesn’t lather

Beth A: Ooohhhh a bonus Hairdresser Reacts WITH the educational "how to" content!! Thank you Brad!!!

LetItBeEzee: Thank you Brad. I actually saw this from someone on another video that yes, T18 will only work for level 9+ hair. & if you’re looking to go that silver/grey look other toners that will work are Wella T10, T28 & T14 ..either with Wella 050 Let me know if you’ve ever tried any of these. What was your hair level at & what were your results? Thanks!

Kevin JEWELL: I loved the Wello Color Charms names back in my childhood- Baroness Blonde, Duchess Blonde, Countess Blonde, Marquise Blonde...all the palest tones of pastel platinums...they were so fun!!!!!

Mintea Skullz: THANK GOD IM WATCHING THIS RN! Really happy that I bleached the part of my hair to be pale yellow so I can put it on. Also really happy I got to the part where you said not to mix it with any other toner that isn’t 20 because…I was about to become a scientist and experiment

Aleanna Joy Hopps: Thank you for this, before I went to beauty school, I always loved T14+20vol and a violet additive, but I was always going for a silver base for my blues.

Angela Arnburg: My personal favorite toner is ion toner in spring blossom. It has a hint of pink and tones beautifully!

Lpg 8: You should look at Ell Bangs video on the combination of T11 and T18, it really does work. I had stripped my color and was left with blind and orange hair. Per her video, I did half of each with a 10 vol and it got rid of the orange and I was left with a beautiful oatmeal color.

Dody Prince: Yes, cosmetology school really is helpful and working with 150 to 175 clients a month, but we still don't know what we're doing if we get a DIY in our chair who actually has to pay for a great bleaching. Great video, Brad.

Annette: This was a great video. Pale yellow is a must. Got it. T18 does work for me. I am guilty of removing it too soon like you said. I will try to force myself to leave on 20 minutes. I don't like the purple tint on ends I get sometimes...but I'm going to try to leave it on longer for desired result.

ßLACK HOLE: You saved me i almost tried to tone my orange hair 20 minutes ago but was being lazy and also wasn't sure if it would work so instead I decided to look it up, glad i did

Charlotte Czarny: Am I the only one that went from box dark red/violet to bright blonde in a week using t18? Bleached day one (conditioned it) ended up orange then bleached again on day 7 and used t18. Hair texture the same if not softer, then box dyed it to my natural color, dirty blonde. Worked perfectly ‍♀️

Kat Taylor: Oooh this video is definitely one that’s been a long time coming love ya Brad!

Sarah Gray: Brad’s videos just reinforce why I only trust professional hair stylists to color and cut my hair!

Rachel Ryan: I love that you used Guy Fieri for the fresh bleach example the iconic blonde spiked hair!! That is awesome!

Relaxed Gangster: Brad this blonde on you is absolutely beautiful!! it is the perfect fall blonde! I am loving the depth!

Julia Blackwell: We must acknowledge Brad's transition from rainbow to blonde.

•ShadowEclxpse•: Brad, watching you actually completes my day. ♥️

pandypie1: I used T18 one time. I figured I'd use it to zap the final bit of yellow out of my hair. Nope. It did what I could have never expected, I mean, my hair was light enough! It turned it dark Grey and I was shocked. And also, it fried it to smithereens. My almost white hair was totally ruined. This was years ago but I'll never forget the lesson I learned. Just throw some purple hair color in a ton of conditioner and tone it that way. I totally get that there's a sweet spot where you can use t18, but I don't think I'll ever find it ‍♀️

Rabita Meem: This hair looks great on you!! Brad You’re looking beautiful ❤️

shrimp noodles: it’s like he knows wtf we’re getting ready to do so he decides to help us .. ❤️

Natalie Labbe: You should do a video about using bleach and then toner on natural ginger hair! Us redheads have a hard time going blonde, I have even had hairstylists tell me they wouldn’t do it because it will never truly not be orange without killing my hair. Ginger videos please!!

Dakota Bourbeau: I'm loving this video format please do more of these style videos

Christi Callahan: I LOVE YOU! I'm SOOOO HAPPY to see you! Glad you're back! LOVE the blonde!

MellowJelly: Hair stylists have gotten my level 4-ish virgin brown hair to a level 10 in one session, it also is still strong and shiny after, I've just never asked what volume developer they used while lightening it... I want to be able to do this at home, but not willing to just trial and error it lol

Cliff Harley: From one hair stylist to another - THANK YOU. Finally someone said what I’ve said for yearssssss

Amanda Bartholomew: I got that grey look already. Overlightened and used t18. But I washed my hair like 20 times and it did go to platinum. Haven't used t18 since but my hair definitely is light enough for it.

UMR gaming: I wanted to get my bleached hair to a dark gray so I went to Sally. I didn't know what the T18 box looked like or how it was spelled. Thought it was spelled like teaeighteen or some shit. The Sally people kept telling me to buy it but I was like I want a demi toner instead. Alternatives they recommend were literally purple hair color. Not exactly sure if that will work since it's hair color and not toner. I asked more about the toner they recommend and I soon I found out that was T18 I was like fuck no I'm outta here. Watched too many videos to know that you need atleast level 10 for it to work. I hate sally

Barbara Marino: Can we just take a minute to appreciate how awesome Brads hair looks

Karen E: That Sutton & Grove video is what I used as a guide (along with a million Brad reacting to fail videos) to go platinum. Two years now of bright platinum with t18!

Dia Smith: I actually use T18 on like 8ish almost 9 level hair, because I like the resulting ash blond that you end up with! The ash blond products out there don't give me the color I desire and while there are additives you can use to get more ash tone, it's super easy to get grey or blue hair out of it. For pure white hair I prefer the ION pure white line but they are only good if your hair lifts to a full 10

Valerie Melendez: So glad you made this video brad I needed to see this to avoid a hair disaster

Abby Mountenay: i work at sally’s with no cosmetic training, it’s called product knowledge and that’s our training. we get to know the products so we know what to recommend. it’s common knowledge at my store that you need a high enough level to use T18. aside from that i’ve had people come in and say “brand mondo doesn’t like T18” when it’s exactly what they need lol…anyways

Brittany Mya: I always use wella t18 && don’t know what I’d do without it . Although I must say , when I used it once I put it on my roots too which are naturally dark and it lightened it to this sandy brown colour . Can’t say I hated it ‍♀️ . All in all though after bleaching wella t18 brings me to the bright white blonde I absolutely LOVE ❤️ . Thanks brad mondo for this video ☺️ .

Dead_beat Bunny: I am not a professional but: if you want to tone your hair and don't know what to use, what works for me is waiting until after I've lifted to find my toner (I usually use a semi permanent color though). Then I use pictures to best match what level I've lifted to, say it's a level 7. Then I find a Wella dye that has that number in it and, depending on if you want a warm or cool shade, the letter that corresponds. I like cool tones, so I'd then get a 7A (ash). If you feel your hair is between levels, go with the darker of the two. Hope that helps someone!

Beth Wojtczak: First, you are hilarious and you made me laugh throughout this video! Second, this video is AMAZING! Thank you so much for the education!

Samantha Jay: I googled t18 yesterday after a bad salon trip I was hoping for miracles! Why do hairdressers struggle to do a good job for blondes? Doesn't matter where I go or how much I pay!

Tayler Renee: Goldwell toner or the goldwell express toner is level 10 because it isn’t lifting, it is toning. Also you can leave it in for like 5-10 mins and if you accidentally leave it on too long it won’t damage your hair because once it’s in your hair it activates for 10 mins. Or so I was told in school by our goldwell colour expert. You apply it at the sink starting from roots and applying in pie shaped sections. I love me some white, sliver ashy blonde! My hair is NATURALLY BLONDE!!

Bellatrixxie: Hallelujah! FINALLY good advice for the worlds hair DIY-ers out there. It always makes me so sad to see poor unfortunate souls toss T-18 or any other level 10 intended toner on orange or golden hair hoping for platinum white. You’ve got to tone the level you achieve for good results my friends, and T18 is for PALE YELLOW ONLY.

amanda valle: Brad! Make a video of the same head bleached with t18 on one section and other toners on other sections with the same bleached hair! It would be so helpful!

Shaina Schuster: I’m so glad you put this video out. I just hope people pay attention lol I would be if I did a bleach session or haircut at home haha definitely need some help with my hair tho

Rebecca Holloway: honestly every time i lighten my hair i use t18 instead of t14 although it turns out to be orangey/yellow and it turns to a nice golden blonde with cool tones... i know its probably not ideal but i think for my hair it looks good

Erica Allbright: This is why his information is reliable- he actually demonstrates everything he mentions, he's not just talking to the camera in hopes people will call him pretty. Brad is amazing!

Sis Catanzaro: Brad's skin is looking super flawless in this video!

Jessica Booker: THANK YOU! I'm in the midst of lightening my hair and needed this!

Ayesha: Brad is literally always helping us he’s literally a legend ❕

BrandonL Rushman: I have natural dark auburn hair. Been using the wella for years and love to use the Wella beige toner after using the natural blonde dye! I always get the prettiest blonde tone!

Barbara Woods: Thank god you made this I went and bleached my hair to god over lockdown (luckily my hair handles bleach well) and now I’v got patches of yellow and pure white I’m trying to fix ✋

Leslie Roycroft: I’ve had ok success with t18 on highlights only when I use it with a level 10 developer. If I use it with 20vol, it lifts my roots without depositing anything (the darker non highlighted hair) BUUUTT-and this is a big but..it’s gone in like 2 shampoos. So not worth it at all.

donutsyo: I really like this format for testing out/ reviewing products!!

Zoë Zo: Yes Brad! Loving the back to blonde look

Kirsten Marie: Thank YOU for doing this video! I cringe every time you show someone using T18, knowing it won’t work, yet people think it the miracle fix for every disaster they put their hair through.

Kim Husbands: Brad, you did the best you can. Some people have hard heads and cloth ears. Your comments and content is on point ☺

MimiMeem: Brad, this NAILS IT IN MY BRAIN. Toner fills, fills, fills the hair strand, first-You must fill the hollow shaft first. Later add color ontop. Color ontop of just bleached hair will look like crap. Dont blow it- tone it!

Laura Simpkins: 5:25 yep. I’ve had bleeding on my scalp. An amazing family friend (RIP ❤️), who was a hairdresser, would come over to have a “hair party,” dying my, my mom’s and my grandma’s hair, every 4-6 weeks. (He was around my mom’s age, but was actually my grandma’s best friend.) He had the whitest hair possible… and I NEEDED it. The lightening was painful, even with dirty hair, but the toning… omg. I have a sensitive scalp as it is, but T18 is another world of pain. (That wasn’t always what we used, but we were at the mercy of Sally’s.) Sometimes I’d end up with random bloody sores on my head. Though my friend would say, “Yes, but the hair that’s covering those sores… beautiful. ” And he was absolutely right. The whitest blonde, with a tinge of purple, without ANY damage… ugh so amazing. No one has ever been able to replicate it. ️‍❤️ RIP ❤️️‍

Stella Miranda: I recently toned my extensions with T18 and the hair closest to the clips were super purple. I panicked and added T15 and now it’s a pearly - ashy tone. Very pretty but does not match my actual hair

Sun State House Buyers: Please keep your hair like this. Style and color - it suits you the best. You look stunning!!!!
