Don'T taste Russian keep your words make it. You got. We hey guys and welcome back to another video. So today I'm going to do my one year, post, relaxer update, I can't believe, but she reached one year, post, relaxer and so I've been keeping you up-to-date throughout my whole transition. If you haven't checked out my transition into natural hair, my twenty weeks post update and my forty weeks post up there and make sure you check that out before watching this one. So again, it all makes sense to you. So I'm going to literally kind of trip back and kind of update you from 41 weeks post up to 52 weeks, which is a year okay. So, as I put in my last update and that I kind of had a breakthrough with my hair, I was doing lots and lots and tangles, and when I got to 37 weeks post things were fine and luckily things have continued. I haven't had any problems with tangles or matting, or knots like that, like I did before. I'Ve been experiencing little knot, but just general knots that people get anyway when they're detangle in their hair, but nothing serious and nothing to complain about so things yeah. I literally just continued, I haven't had any problems and I definitely know now that now got to one year post that I'm not going to worry or have any issues with knots and tangles. So unfortunately I did experience breakage world going through my transition. When I was talking about my hair and really matching up and dealing with severe knots and tangles during those months, obviously with a continuous detangling, my hair did obviously broke away at the line of demarcation, and I have got bit breakage in various areas of my hair, Which was kind of inevitable, and it was kind of sad that you to see my for healthy relaxed hair go from what it was to kind of kind of looking thin in certain areas and at the same time there's nothing. I can really do about it when I was on my relaxed hair journey. If anyone knows me, they will know that I was always very, very gentle with my hair. You know it would be no pressure whatsoever. I'D take my time with it, but I didn't really have those kind of severe knots and tangles when I was going through my relaxed hair journey, but because I'm dealing with my natural and my relaxed hair and the hair was matted up. I had to put force on my hair to help remove the knots and tangles and as much I didn't want to do it. That was the only way I was going to kind of determine what my hair, so obviously, with that pressure, my hair, unfortunately broke away and and yeah. My hair is kind of looking a little bit uneven and looking feeling some areas, but I said it's because of this handling process and but what has kind of helped me to kind of kind of not be so sad about? It is the fact that you know my relaxed hands will eventually be removed anyway, then I'll be left with my natural hair. So unfortunately, it's just part of the process, while my process anyway, because not everybody deals with severe knots and tangles, some people may some people may not, but fortunately I did and because of that it did create quite a bit of breakage okay. So some people have asked me when we're going to big chop and well. The plan is there's two things that no one mentioned. The first thing is that I haven't wanted a big chop just yet, because I kind of want to feel a bit comfortable. When I do big job, I mean I had mid-back length, relaxed hair so to go from that to kind of an inch or two of natural hair was too drastic for me and I would not have felt comfortable and kind of just cutting my hair off and Just rocking my hair as a little teeny, weeny afro, and so what I want to do is kind of give myself some time for my hair to grow out a little bit more. So when I do big chop, you know, I feel, a bit more confident rocking my hair in a short style, because I've never really had my hair. That short before, and so, as I said, I want to feel comfortable and ready when the time comes. The second reason is, I was thinking that I'm going to kind of big chop end time between April and June and next year, 2017 and reason behind. That is that you know whether you can it's going to be around spring summer time. The weather be not milder and warmer, and I think it would be nice to kind of be chopped then. So you know I've got a nice look for the summer time something I can enjoy something new and yeah. Just feel that I feel like holding to be ready by that time, but at the same time I don't know how I'm gon na feel. You know that is the plan. I'Ve got a plan and whether it goes to that plan or not - I don't know, but I do plan to big chopper between April and June next year, but we will see how things go nothing. I want to start doing because I've been using the same products for a long long time and now that my new growth is really grown through, I kind of want to start experimenting with new products. I want to try out shea moisture. I want to try out meals, organics there's so many different, and you know product ranges that I want to try to experiment and see how my natural hair kind of reacts to it. Obviously, I've got the two textures. You know products that I use may work well with my natural hair or not my relaxed end and vice versa. So, and yet just want to test it. You know test out a few products and things like that and if anybody's trying out products on their transitioning hair or their natural hair, which they think is going to be really useful or something. I think I should try it and do comment below and let me know, I'd love to know and other products. I know there are so many products out there and I don't want to turn into a product junkie. You know buying up the place and all these products, and you know kind of just spending all this money and they, let me know what perhaps you think, are really really good, and so I can kind of have different products that I can look at. Okay and finally, I'm going to show you my hair now so I'm kind of a track back to my five months, update and show you my hair, how its progressed throughout the year. Also, some of you might want to know how much my hair has grown during that time, and 20 of you haven't really been focusing so much on how much length of retained you know. My main focus was getting through the transition and dealing the knots and tangles and getting over that hurdle. So yeah um really been worried about that too much, but I know some people might want to know. You know how many inches have you achieved over the years. So I'm going to measure my hair and kind of show the different lengths on the left side right side, the top and the back, if I can get there so yeah. So here is the update. So here are all free up it's of my hair and if you compare my 20 weeks post relaxer update to my 1 year post, you can really see how much my hair has grown over the year. I also need some water, as I'm eco styler, gel, just to really highlight the texture of my new growth and just another quick shot just to show you how much my hair has grown in comparison to my 20 weeks post relaxer and my 40 weeks post relaxer Update and finally, just measuring my hair to see how much it's grown over the year and I managed to measure the left side of my head, the right side at the top, but the back was a little bit tricky. So I couldn't get that bond average. I achieved 5 inches of growth in the year, okay guys. So that is the end of the video I hope you've enjoyed my one-year post update. If you've got any questions about anything I didn't mention or anything else. You want to know and do comment below and let me know and if you're new to my channel of course, don't forget to subscribe, so you up to date for my latest videos other than that. Thank you all. So much for watching and I'll see you in the next video take care. Bye,

Jasmine Padgett: I'm 16 months post relaxer. My transition got much easier 8-9 months post. Carefully detangling with a comb instead of just my fingers definitely helped. Products to try: Aussie Moist, inexpensive but very effective. To avoid becoming a product junkie, which unfortunately I have become, remember you can always Return products you don't like. ;)

NaturalHead1: Your skin is glowing gurl! Thanks for the update. I'm nearly at my 4 year natural hair anniversary and it definitely gets better :)

Tina - Marie: I am 4 months into transitioning. Great video!

The Real Cara 16: Congrats on one year transitioning! OMG I've been having the exact same problem with breakage. I also just reached one year of transitioning! So we're on this journey together. But idk about the big chop part lol I think I'm gonna transition long term

landiza cardoso: Thank you so much for for your update. I was transitioning aswell, but I just got frustrated with my relaxed hair, it had loads of tangles, it was breaking and kept getting matted up. So I just big chopped at 6 months post... It was scary because I loved my long relaxed hair but I am falling in love with my twa ☺

BZ: I'm 3 months post relaxer on my transitioning hair journey! Watching your videos has been inspiring and given me the motivation to keep pushing through. I'm dreading the 9 month period though. For me, what has really helped has been deep conditioning once a week. My favorite product to do this with is the Shea Moisture Superfruit Complex 10-1 hair masque. It gives my hair the necessary protein for low porosity hair. I know your hair is high porosity but I think that, with the multiple multiple multiple benefits the product has, it could be worth a shot for your hair as well if you haven't yet tried it. Also, the shea moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil shampoo has been very good to people regardless of hair type/texture. I think it's great to deal with the blending of the two textures. Thanks so much for your videos! I've enjoyed watching your hair journey.

Jenny Lee: loving seeing you with your natural hair. Beautifuly thick and healthy.

Brooklyn Londoner Vlogs: Great video, inspiring and congrats on 1 year. I am at 13wks post hoping to go as long as possible till I chop. Like you I am unsure and scared of just having short hair, I've always had long hair on me. Until the next video, stay blessed.

bnalogunbibs: It seems like yesterday when I transitioned my hair from relaxed to natural. Your natural hair is looking amazing. Keep going ❤️

SimplyALLURING: Congrats on reaching one year post! I'm still with you at a year and 4 months

Solovelyleah: also I just want to share with you that your Videos helped me so much in the beginning with learning how to endure and stretch those perms and it was like your journey spoke through to me...i give you major props and kudos...thank you for sharing your journey with us for such great motivation your Videos helped me get to where I am now

Naomi A: The last time I was on this channel was quite a while ago, this was when I had relaxed hair. about 1 year ago , after I cut  my hair I obviously no longer looked for help here. you really helped me with my relaxed hair and thank god you are now becoming natural and you can guide me how you guided me with natural hair.

Candy Punter: You are beautiful, and congratulations on your fantastic progress! the following has greatly improved my hair strength, retention and moisture: castor, coconut, olive, tea tree and almond oils; henna, apple cider vinegar and aloe juice or gel. Continued success and God Bless

Laora LECLAIRE: keep on the gd work with your hair! some products I love for my transitioning hair : JBCO, tea tree oïl, lotta body moisturizer, cantu for the cream and creme of nature for the leave in 7 in one. Oh and I can't detangle without my tresemme conditioner the moisturizing one is bomb! love the video btw!

Michelle Frazier: Congrats on 1 year post! Your hair is flourishing!

Mona Bee: OMG! You're back. I miss seeing your hair journey videos. Your hair looks great. Keep up the good work. Mona!

Jesuscan4u2: Thanks for sharing! I’m going through this now! The only breakage appears only on the relaxed part…

Ntando Mbele: I am also transitioning and I struggled with detangling at first until I decided to wash my hair in braids... I braid the stretched hair with aloe vera and oils. aloe vera makes my hair quite soft. I then shampoo my scalp and rinse hair... The shampoo is always diluted.1tbsp mixed in 250ml bottle I undo each braid, apply deep conditioner(ORS/tresemme+oils+aloe vera) and braid it up and rinse after an hour.... then rinse with apple cider vinegar I leave the braids to air dry... my breakage is minimum. Products I use is auntie Jackie shampoo, aloe vera juice, apple cider vinegar, oils, ORS replenishing, vegetable glycerin, Cantu leave in, shea butter, Tresemme moisture rich
