Troubleshooting Longevity And Coverage Using Iiid Foundation From Seint/ Why The Color Match Matters

Today we are experimenting with 2 application techniques and testing the longevity of highlight shades. Proving the highlight shades and the color match make all the difference in how the makeup lasts, the coverage and the texture. Also that not all methods are equal for everyone depending on each person’s face and their preferences.

Hi friends welcome back to my channel, i'm sarah martin with the contoured chemist all right guys today we're going to do a little bit of experimentation and if you are not new here, you know i love to experiment. It is actually my motto, so i'm gon na do two different looks i'm going to prove to you guys why highlight color and application method can make such a big difference with this makeup. So if you want to check it out, please keep watching be sure to like and subscribe, and thanks for being here, okay, friends, let's get right on into it. We'Re gon na do a little experimenting today. We'Re gon na see we're gon na do our face and we're gon na. Do it half and half two different ways we're gon na see how long it lasts. Okay, we're gon na i'm gon na take some after pictures much later tonight. I don't know i am a former chemist like experimenting it's kind of in my just in my blood. It runs through my veins right. Okay, i love to experiment. I am a very logical person and if somebody asks me something i think of things in a very logical way, so i try to explain things that make sense to me logically right. I i can't help it it's just the way my brain works right. So i get this question more than anything and i also probably get people arguing with me over this more than anything okay. So when i explain that our highlight shades work very differently and i'm talking 3d foundation, okay, when i talk about our 3d foundation highlights and how, if the color's too light it doesn't last on the skin people, don't don't believe me, i don't want to say all People some people do not believe, and they say um that that doesn't make any sense, uh they're the same formulation. How can the shade make a difference in longevity? I'Ve been an artist for five years now i have looked at the ingredients um logically i, as a scientist, i have thought all of the same things, all right, but experimentally, after working with thousands of people and having people come to me and be like this isn't Lasting on my face and simply looking at their picture, looking at what they're matched with troubleshooting all the things you guys, i know it was a color issue. There'S no doubt in my mind it's just a simple tweak of colors and suddenly the makeup lasts. Now why? I wish i could explain you i i wish i could explain to you realistically why and logically why? Because it's the only makeup on the planet. I know that you can't that that works. That way with so you know a traditional foundation, you can totally slap on a shade five times too light. It'S not gon na make a difference in how it wears yeah. It might not look as good, but with our makeup it doesn't look as good. It gives texture, it gives longevity, it gives less less coverage our highlight shades and the colors you're matched to are like night and day difference between if you're going to love this makeup or hate it. In my opinion, it is all about the match, so i'm going to show you how i used to apply my makeup. I have worn the same color for years right until i really started experimenting and learning everything about these creams really just experienced. To be honest, i didn't realize i was wearing a shade too light and seeing the longevity i get now versus how i got it when i applied it in this way and the coverage i want you to pay attention to as well. I'M gon na show you this side with my original colors. I'M gon na show you the way you see all over social media um. I call it the paint by numbers technique. You place the colors where they go on the face. You blend you're good to go. Is it quick and easy? Yes, does it work for everyone? In my opinion? No because there's people like me, who have a lot of different colors on their face, have a lot a lot of different darker points on their face and, like i just said, you apply a color too light you're not going to get very good longevity or coverage. If the area is darker than that, so um i'm going to show you how i apply it now and let you guys look at the difference all right. So let's go ahead and get started. I am going to everything else. As far as you know, variables, if we're talking true experimentation, are the same, i have the same um. All i have on my face is my spf, so longevity is not going to be an issue as far as i don't have any silicones on my skin, which can cause longevity issues with our makeup. I'Ve learned that the hard way as well and so no silicones i'm going to set them in the exact same way, so that that is not an issue. Okay, are we ready? Let'S do this first things? First, let's go ahead and i'm just going to paint this side on now my original color, i'm going to show you kind of all of our highlight shades, so you can see the difference. Um was this one right here which is amber? Okay, um? I now where i wear one shade up. This is just one shade: darker, okay and i use a color corrector. I use the same brightener all right, so the only thing i'm changing is i'm going to apply i'm going to put in my compact here. So i'm gon na apply amber aura to this side of the face, which is what i wore for years. Okay, mind you years right and then on this shade, i'm gon na do the same thing. I always do or sorry this side can't keep straight. This is that i'm just gon na do mango sandy aura. Okay, these are one shade apart. You can probably tell in the ten they're not super different okay, amber is lighter and actually warmer sandy is one shade, darker and actually more neutral, all right. First things. First, when we talk um this side, this side, um, the one layer method, is a lot of times. You'Ll just see people do it with their fingers. I'Ll be honest, it's not my favorite because i feel like you have to blend a lot more. So it's harder to get a good blend, but for demonstration purposes i'm going to show you guys, so we do a three on the side of the face for a contour right, so i'm going to use the same contour on both sides. This is just astoria. Okay, so we're gon na do under every time. I do it with a stripe. I get too low, okay under the cheekbone under the jawline, i'm not doing nose contouring, because i'm doing half my face, half my face. It'S gon na be hard to see. Okay, that's it draw three on the side of the face. Okay, then we're gon na apply um the main shade. This is gon na amber i'm just gon na dot it again, for simplicity's sake. I might have to add more because i find this a very hard way to control the amounts to be honest, but that's okay, um and then my brightener, okay, so inside corner and let's just for funsies, do the lift method. You see everywhere, okay and then we're just going to blend okay. So this method you place it you blend. So let's go ahead and just blend out and i'm going to use the 3d brush, because this is the one i see recommended the most okay and i'm just going to buff this into the skin. Okay, i never recommend swiping, which is why i did not use this brush to apply. I feel like it lends to swiping, so you guys can see up close texture. I did swipe it right there didn't i, oh my gosh it already. There we go. Did i just blend that into my nose? I can't oh i'm not used to this technique. Okay, see if i can do the center of my face and just because i want it to be as realistic as possible. I don't want to have like really bad coverage, which right now i don't have very good coverage. In my opinion, yeah i've got some coverage, but it doesn't look too great, i'm just going to kind of barely tap in and press on more where i have more coverage issues: okay, which is redness through here, hyperpigmentation right there, because even you'll see on this method. It'S what i recommend, buff in a thin layer, build up more coverage by pressing now i'm going to go in with this small end of this pointed end and then just simply tap. Okay. Now this inside corner outside corner method. I'Ll be honest, the only thing it's doing is controlling that you're, not putting too much product under the eye. Otherwise, when you actually tap it out and blend no matter if you're using 3d foundation or concealer, it's just making, you use less product, less product is going to be in the center. Therefore, you're going to get less coverage there as well, but there you go. Okay. Now i'm going to go in with that round end and i'm gon na blend my contour, so i'm gon na blend up into my hairline down into my forehead, okay and then up okay. If i get too low, you can clean it up as well. Okay and then we're gon na blend that contour down the neck. Okay, so there you go that is without blush. Without setting really quick, really easy right got a three-dimensional look. I can even go back in and put a little bit more contour. I feel like it is patchy, but again that is not my favorite way to apply in order to get the best look, because you have to blend a lot, it's hard to control the amount. So there you go, that's a good as good as this gon na get so one layer brightened contoured coverage. You can tell. I got a lot of coverage right um i mean it looks like i have makeup on okay, so we will see how that wears through the day i'm gon na still, i still got ta, do blush illuminator and set it, but now let's go to this side And show you how i normally apply. I do tend to use more than one brush always because i find it far easier than using this brush. Okay, so i'm going to go ahead and use the blush bronzer and i'm going to color correct. So this is where i go in and hit the darkest points of my face, which now you can probably even tell even more so um center of the chin, the hyperpigmentation here rosacea here my entire nose touch on my forehead, okay and under the eyes. Okay. So i'm just gon na try to do that. On half my chin see how very little i used okay. So i'm just tapping i'm gon na buff that in so i get very little product. My skin is very reactive though, so i you can tell i get red really easily all right, i'm going to try to buff that under the half of the nose man it's hard to do on half, especially when i've already done my brows okay. So i'm gon na go ahead and go in with the small end of the detail and get those detailed areas a little bit more still with my color corrector, i'm going to hit those broken capillaries and again press on where i need more coverage. So my entire nose is darker, so i'm going to go in then i'm going to go on that inside corner of my eye, color correct that color correct that blue and purple under my eyes. Okay, so still kind of buffing. You can tell i'm not getting pulled! Super dark or anything like that gon na go in and hit any dark points, so hyperpigmentation blemishes coming right on the end of my nose so hard to cover a little bit: hyperpigmentation, mustache, okay and i'm not applying a lot. I barely just kind of buffed it in where i needed it. Okay, now, i'm gon na go back in with that blush end again and hit it with my main shade and i'm just gon na barely touch and then i'm gon na tap it. Okay - and this is gon na kind of build up, my coverage keep me matching tone down. My color corrector touch even out my skin tone. Okay, so i'm gon na get as good as i can with that big brush, and then i can go back in with the small brush in those small areas if needed again, i'm tapping so i'm not moving that color corrector i just place so i'm not blending Them together, i'm actually building up coverage in thin layers. Okay, now i'm ready to contour. Now i've color corrected this contour area. So it's going to give me a better blend. My contour is not going to pull as warm because i do have redness there and i'm going to get extra coverage there, since our contours also give coverage so detail tap in. I like to just press it on and keep pressing to blend. So i'm not moving that product underneath and i'm going to get a much better blend. I can control exactly how much i have. Okay go back in brush same thing goes with forehead, okay blend up into the hairline down into the forehead and up under the jaw. Down to my neck to me, i feel like i can contour so much faster this way. Okay. So now i like to go in with my detail: brush and brighten, so i haven't brightened this side. I'M just going to go ahead and i'm going to use the same method, but this time i'm just going to tap it on. So i can control exactly where i put the brightener so side of the nose right here and then right where i have that shadow okay, not directly under the eye. Okay, and if i hadn't done half a face, i could sit. I could definitely brighten down the center as well. You know i'll just do a little bit. Okay, so either method, i'm always going to perfect. So i got this ready beforehand. It is dried down, it's not too wet. It'S just barely damp, and now i can just pounce it across my entire face and remove excess, make sure i'm not sticky or tacky and blend any harsh lines. So my main goal of this is to make sure i'm not too heavy under the eyes. I don't get creasing and i remove all that excess product. Okay, now that i've got that, i can do the fun part, which is lip and shake so i'm gon na use the same colors on both sides. You guys know me, i'm always using a matte for pigment, a glowy shade. I do um a gloss for the glow, so let's see, let's use nude, okay, i'm just gon na tap in and then i'm gon na tap on to that outside cheek up along my contour okay. Now, in this method a lot of times, you see people just like tap it like that, and then they blend okay. So i'm going to show you that method. Okay! So in this method, i didn't move any product because i'm just pressing okay, i can control the exact placement how it blends, because i'm just pressing it on to both place the color and blend it. At the same time, this method you're moving any shade underneath you're. Getting more of a blending shades together kind of technique, and it's going to show more of that, whatever you have underneath right so here i've got a hyperpigmentation spot, it's showing through pretty good, because i did not just press that color over it. I didn't. I didn't color correct this side. Okay, let's add that glowy shade i probably wouldn't mix by doing that technique, i always kind of layer, my blushes i'm going to go ahead and just press this one on so that they're as equal as possible, because i feel like if i just blend like that. They'Re going to look like two different shades because they're gon na mix and not be layered, does that make sense? Okay go back in and clean up if needed. Okay, i'm gon na go in with one of the perfumes which is like rose gold illuminator and the perfector tap it on the high points of the cheekbone right there, oh gosh. I need to blend that down, okay and then i'm going to set both sides. The same way so make sure i don't have any creasing okay, i'm going to touch my powder with the power pack with the powder brush and just tap right, underneath the eye to set okay and then anywhere else. You want a little bit more matte. That way. I have the same longevity on both sides where i set that okay set the side of my nose. Okay, now i'm gon na go ahead and use the setting spray. Okay, so ultimate longevity. We got, we set it with powder and we set it with setting spray. So that is not gon na be a factor. Okay, friends, so there you go both sides. Neither side looks bad right, but can you see a difference in coverage patchiness blending? Hopefully you can see in the pictures. If it's not apparent on camera. I know cameras can be deceiving and then we will take a look at the after pictures and see which side held up better. You guys are gon na, be the judge if there was any difference or if there was no difference at all. So there you go. There'S two different ways to apply two different shade combos, even though it probably can't even tell on camera that i mean i'm gon na wear these the rest of the day. I don't think anyone's gon na notice that i have on different shades. You guys tell me, can you tell the difference? I personally can tell a difference in my mirror, far more so than i can tell on camera, especially patchiness and blending and coverage um, but i'm gon na. Let you guys decide what do you think and then hopefully you'll be able to tell in the after pictures which one wore better throughout the day need help with your 3d foundation, i'm more than happy to color match you, depending on how you like to wear your Makeup so my color match questionnaire is in the drop box below the video. Just tell me how you like to wear it and i'll give you a custom color match, as always. Thank you guys so much for being here and i'll. See you next week love you bye, you

The Contoured Chemist: Can you see the difference in coverage and longevity after a full day's wear?!

Mary Ann Tacconelli: I’m so happy I discovered you and your channel before I started working with my Seint makeup. I watched SO many of your videos to learn the application process. Now I’m bombarded on Instagram with the dot application like you did on the left. I can’t imagine applying it that way. I’m thrilled with my colors and how I apply it. I can’t say enough good things about this makeup! I have learned so much from you! THANK YOU!!

Lisa Martin: Love you sarah! Thank you for all of these awesome troubleshooting videos. Had I not found you I don't believe I would have ever bit the bullet and ordered my makeup and have been feeling oh so good these past 6 months with my renewed confidence you are a godsend for mature women

Teresa Williams: The side you did your way is much prettier in the beginning and the end! Your makeup always looks so pretty!

Deborah Raad: First of all I could definitely see a difference immediately upon application. The “non-cheetah method” side looked much more natural and blending was seamless. It was apparent in the “after” photos that your method held up much better while I could see where the makeup became patchy and broke on the other side. Also, adding the color corrector made a huge difference. (Love my Mango!) ‘So glad you made this video, Sarah!

Chiyon Aguirre: I love this experiment . Proof is in the pudding. You can see the wear test shows how color and application method can completely change the longevity of the makeup. . Thank you so much for being an amazing teacher.

Lisa Martin: And if you have mature skin it's even more so! Younger skin could get away with a lot more than us ladies with more mature skin... We must follow the steps ladies... Thank goodness for Sarah

Sonya Nelson: Nothing beats the ‘thin layers’ method. So glad I found you! Love the shirt btw!

Codi Vines: Your skin looks gorgeous to start with!

Valerie Burgess: This video is so helpful. I love the side by side application to really be able to see the differences. I have been afraid of using my mango because I am afraid it will make me look too dark, but I think I need to just go for it and follow your tutorial.

renae drinkwater: Oh my goodness!! I could definitely tell the difference but I grew up with my Mom who is a retired cosmetologist. She did hair and makeup for 30+ years. The left side of your face held up a lot longer. I could tell a difference in the first picture that was taken not long after you applied your makeup.

Simply Suzy T: Love your videos! So helpful. I define you think the side with sandy looked better at end of day but do you also think it had to do with the application also? Or just the color selection?

Jennifer Richter: So glad I found your channel! Always so informative!

Lisa Martin: I have proof to what you saying is true! When I very first ordered my makeup and accidentally did not order my main shade ... I used my highlight shade for my main and when I tell you I looked about 80 years old that's putting it mildly! When I messaged Sarah, she was like... Oh my! Yeah you don't want to do that! LOL and thus began to explain to me.... Huge difference in texture and longevity

Autumn Weldon: Video request: can you show us how you do your brows please? They are beautiful. You are so naturally beautiful. I have learned so much from you about Seint. I just ordered your recommendations for my color corrector/main highlight shades: mango and candlelit. Can't wait for them to arrive! My first "match" I was given was June and Aura which matches my skin but does nothing for my dark circles, melasma, blemishes. And Frenchie isn't doing enough for these trouble areas either. Fingers crossed your recommendations make all the difference.

Lisa Martin: It's that chemist in you! Logic and being scientific. Using facts over feelings! LOL

The Beauty Professor Ms. G: What was the second shade you applied on top of the shade nude?

Jeannie Gilson: I wear Sandy as my highlight shade, what can be used to color correct other than mango?

Christine E Ruiz: If my main shade is candlelight then what would I use for color correct

Teresa Williams: I so wish I would have found you first!

Codi Vines: Is mango the only color used for color correction?

Janice Kleckner: Where did you use mango? Why shouldn’t you use a primer

Monica Brown: Can you color match me I want to go all in
