My name is Lucy, I'm a 23-year-old girl from the Netherlands, and I'm here to offer an alternative approach to beauty.

On this channel I do mostly hair tutorials where I show you how to braid, pin and style your own hair. I recreate hairstyles from movies & tv shows and I regularly come up with my own, which I love to share with you!

I do lifestyle and beauty videos as well, ranging from wearable everyday looks, makeup tips and DIY natural beauty treatments, to fashion lookbooks, vegetarian recipes and more extreme Halloween tutorials.

If you enjoy history, you've come to the right place as well. I have a few series based on historical makeup and hairstyling that are my little passion projects.

Hey guys so today I am going to show you how to do this. Authentic. 1870S hairstyle. I found a picture tutorial drawn picture tutorial of this hairstyle online, so I thought I would try and recreate it. It took me a little while to master this one. I'M going to admit it was pretty difficult to do the hair bow, but in the end I think I got it down pretty well. I am using hair elastics in this tutorial. If you want to make this 100 percent authentic, you can use little pieces of thread. Twine or ribbon to tie your hair with I'm just using hair elastics, because there are a lot easier and if you have them, why not use them so yeah without further to do let's jump straight into the hair tutorial so like most historical hairstyles from before the 20Th century, I need very long hair for this, so I have applied my hair extensions that are hip length, so my hair is now Kipling's just so you know, and a little bit thicker than my hair naturally is. You can definitely do this hairstyle on shorter hair and thinner hair. It just won't look exactly like you did in a tutorial, so I want to make sure this is completely curved through very well frye spice and I'm going to divide my hair into two sections. What'S going to be the braid and second one is going to be the bow so for the bow. I am going to take the front of my hair and I'm going to start right here from of my ears and pull this upwards Mark's right about here. All right, I'm going to clip this away for now, while I work on the back and this, this is really simple. I'M just going to divide this into three sections and then break this very loosely. I want the first part of the braid to pretty much not even be braided. I'M going to tie this off with a hair elastic all right, then I'm going to take a spray loop. It upwards and pin it right here where my parting is on the top of my head there now. The next thing I'm going to do is give this from hair hair a little tease. This is a 19th century hairstyle we are doing so to make this look more authentic, I'm just going to tease a little bit of my hair. Look too much, nothing too crazy. The emphasis is on the back here, all right and I'm going to take all of the hair that is loose now and tie it into a ponytail right. On top of that parting that I made okay. So that comes the trickiest part, and that is making the bow now. This is a beautiful illustration where it looks so easy to you, but like many drona hair tutorials, it doesn't really work that way unless your hair is exactly like. It is in that drawing which is pretty unique, I think cuz, it is not tapered at all. All the hair is a little thickness. All the way through Mike isn't like that at all, even if I'm not wearing extensions to lengthen my hair, so I'm going to have to go back and tweak this a little bit after I've done it. But I'm going to show you the technique from the period contemporary tutorial, so you know how to do that. So what I'm going to do is once again brush it through make sure this hair is completely smooth alright. So now I am going to start wrapping this around my hand, tuck the ends in there pull this out so that it's a little bit bigger like that and then wrap it until I reach the end here, then I'm going to twist this around like that hold Both of these loops and now you get that Center ponytail coming up in the middle of those two loops. So I'm going to give that twist until you reach the base of the ponytail. Now you want to make sure the loops on both sides are kind of even and then you're going to hold this down really firmly and pin it with a thousand bobby pins all right. So then, all you need to do is spread out these loops to create your bow shape and that I'm just going to win this with a bobby pin to make sure it's these spread out like this. Now. What I like to do is to just talk at this hair elastic a little bit to make some of the hair come up a little and kind of highlight that hair elastic a little bit - and this is the finished results a authentic 1870s hair style. Now this one definitely takes a little bit of practice to master, especially the hair bow, but once you do it, I think it is a very cute hairstyle. So I really hope you enjoyed this tutorial guys if you did don't forget to give a thumbs up and subscribe to our channel for more hair tutorials.
