6 Easy Diy Hair Bows And Headbands With The Bowdabra

Create super easy hair bows and headbands with simple, readily available materials and the Bowdabra. Join Sandy Sandler, Creator of the Bowdabra as she takes you through this exciting journey of making incredibly cute and adorable hair and head accessories for girls, babies, women and even the Derby!

HEART HAIR BOW

For the first hair bow, a pretty bow for little girls, Sandy scrunches some tulle in the Mini Bowdabra. She takes a piece of heart patterned ribbon, slightly creases it in the middle and places it in the Bowbabra, adding a few more such pieces. She adds a variety of cute curly korker ribbons in myriad colors to the bow. Tied up with the Bowdabra Bow Wire, and then tied to a ponytail holder, it turns out to be a really fluffy, super simple and very pretty hair bow.

CUTE BABY BOWS

Sandy takes pieces of tulle - 10 inches long and 5 inches wide. She ties each of the ends into knots and scrunches them into the Mini Bowdabra. Next, she scrunches in pieces of glittered tulle. Once the bow is tied up, Sandy ties it with a headband, putting the knot at the place where the crease is. Super simple and fun, it comes out as a cute Baby Headband.

LARGE FLOWER HEADBAND

Isn't it adorable to see 6 month old babies with bows bigger than their heads? No need to buy expensive bows. Sandy shows how quickly and easily you can make super cute baby bows with some pieces of pink and purple tulle and assorted ribbons.

Sandy first scrunches in purple and pink tulle in 3 layers to make a big puff in the Large Bowdabra. Using green wired ribbon, cut pointed at the ends for leaves, and pink wired ribbon, cut in curved shapes at the ends for petals, Sandy arranges a flower on top of the tulle. Once the bow is tied up and the petals shaped out, it looks like a stunning flower head bow.

Sandy takes the loose ends of the wire that had been used to tie up the bow and weaves them through the holes in either side of the seam of a headband so that the wire is not against the baby's head but only on the other side of the headband.

PEACOCK HAIR BOW CLIP

For the next hair bow, Sandy scrunches in light blue tulle in the Mini Bowdabra and then adds 3 pieces of peacock patterned ribbon. Then she adds white curly korker ribbon and tops it up with another piece of the blue tulle folded in half to make a beautiful hair bow which can be attached easily with a alligator clip.

GOLD AND PINK HAIR BOW

For the next hair bow, Sandy mixes in scrunchy ribbon with some tulle, pieces of cute pink ribbon and golden pearls, all tied up together in a beautiful shape. Once puffed out and attached to a ponytail holder, it makes a very pretty gold and pink hair bow.

DERBY HEADBAND

Sandy scrunches in a couple of pieces of frayed green mesh followed by some yellow tuelle, and tops it up with green and yellow curly korker ribbons. It makes a cute headband bow which can be tied to a headband or stuck on the Derby hat with a glue dot.

Hi everybody welcome to bowdabra Monday face book life and I'm glad that you could all enjoy me and if you're watching this after Monday. Thank you so much for taking the time to view our face book life. So I'm gon na get started and I'm gon na. I'M sandy I'm the creator of Buddha bra and I love my Monday's with you, because I get to show you all about bowdabra and our products. So here we have the bowdabra and underneath there there are Springs, and so that's what holds everything in place when you make a really big bows or little bows, this is our bowdabra line. Let me to put my bowdabra aside, because today we're mostly going to be using our mini bowdabra, which works exactly the same way as the big bowdabra. It'S just minis. You can make a little itty bitty bows and then we also have our hair bow tool, which will allow me on certain bows to measure where it's really important, that I get the measurements correct. So let's get started you're gon na take some of my bowdabra bow wire and I'm gon na just wave it in half and we have the bowdabra bow wire in both silver and gold and I'm gon na use gold. Here, I don't even think you're gon na see it, but in this bow I'm gon na have. This is like really pretty heart ribbon and we're gon na make just a cute little hair bow. So basically, all I'm gon na do is just scrunch my tool into my mini bowdabra, and this is really really simple and I'm thinking with the Mother's Day coming up even if you're watching this after Mother's Day. This is like a really pretty bow for a little girl for Mother's Day now. Also here I just want to show you that we've done I've already dubbed held the ends, and I dovetail the ends by just folding, my rubber ribbon in half and cutting from the fold to the corner of the rib, and you can use like a spray starch. Ttl to keep it from fraying or you can use a lighter, so I'm just gon na fold it in half. So I get the center and I'm just going to put a little crease in the middle and scrunch that down into my bowdabra and now I'm going to take another ribbon and do the exact same thing fold it to find the center put a little. We call it a mountain up scrunch. This is so that you don't have to worry about sewing or gluing, so it makes it really easy. Just gon na put one more in there. Then they have these great little pieces of curlicue Corker ribbon and I'm just mixing reds and whites, and I buy these pre-made. So if you're interested in knowing where I get them just send me write that your you'd like a link to the cork or ribbon and I'll definitely get it to you after the Facebook live. So I'm going to scrunch down in here and you're gon na. Take my bowdabra bow wire and I'm going to pull it through. My Slipknot pull this. While it's still in the bowdabra now I'm gon na pull it out. I'M gon na separate my ends, bring it around to the back and I'm gon na tie a knot and I'm gon na just whoops double knot that and now I'm going to take a ponytail holder and just pull this through here and just tie it onto my Ponytail holder, so it's so so simple, and now it's just not that and I'm gon na just clip the ends right close to the ponytail holder. And here you go. You have this. I'M just gon na shake this out a little bit here. It'S kind of bring all my puffiness around shape my three little pieces and you have a super super simple and really really easy to make. Ponytail helper Jeanne said cute. Thank You Jeanne. I hope you're doing really well. I noticed we do have now a bowdabra on page and it's for where you guys can all post and if you ask me about the bowdabra fanpage in the comment, I'll make sure to send you a link. So we don't have somebody helping us tonight to send the links, so I'm gon na have to do it after the live, but thanks so much for joining and Geney. Remember Dean. You reminded me because she's posted it's really beautiful bows on our fanpage, so we're gon na put this one aside, and I had a request this week frame a couple of customers who wanted me to show them how to make some really cute baby bows. So we all know those great little headbands or the bows almost bigger than the baby's head, so we're gon na make a couple of really fun ones right now. So let me just grab my little box here and we'll make two in a row. Make sure this one I show those in here, and actually you start with this one. So I'm gon na use this really pretty white lace, headband, and I love these little boxes for just storing everything kind of like if you have a cooking show and they store everything in little jars, so they don't have to measure. I do the same thing with my bowdabra stuff, so I'm just gon na take my bowdabra silver bow, R and fold it in half and place it into my mini bowdabra. Then what I've done is taken. Oh here I knew I had another one. Is I've just cut these pieces of tulle and they are about? Everybody always asks me how long and I always forget to measure they're about 10 inches long and five and they're like five inches wide. So the first thing I'm gon na do is I'm just gon na scrunch this down into my bowdabra. Oh no, I'm not I'm sorry. What am I talking about? I'M going to tie a knot on the end here. So here we go just tie a little knot. There so it's kind of like a Raggedy Ann style. It'S going to be a really cute headband and again, I'm just gon na tie the knot at the end here and so now. What I'm gon na do is just place one in here and then I'm gon na put a purple one, and then I have this really pretty pink glitter tool and I'm just gon na scrunch that in here and I'm gon na take my wand and just kind Of scrunch everything to hold it down: oh thanks, Julie and EH thanks so much for joining us Julie and we love to hear from all you guys. I know there's a lot of people out there who watch and don't comment, but I love to hear your comments. It kind of makes my day so, but I have so much fun during these Monday. Facebook lives, so I'm just scrunching everything in and again I'm gon na use my wand. You could also make this in the big bowdabra if you want to make it even bigger or thicker, so I'm gon na put one more the purple. Another one is the pink and yep one more scrunch for good measure and then I'm gon na take my bowdabra bow wire. I'M gon na pull it through my Slipknot. I'M gon na hold my bow down, so I can pull it really tight, while it's still in the bowdabra, I'm gon na pull it out. I'M gon na separate the ends and I'm gon na bring them around to the back and I'm going to tie a double knot. And then what I'm going to do is take it to my headband, and this is kind of where the crease in the headband is so. What I'm gon na do here is I'm going to bring this around and I'm gon na tie it here underneath so that the wire and everything won't be next to the baby's head, so we're just gon na pull that little tight and tie another knot. I think we said Ola from Robstown Texas, oh hi, Mary Dean. I said hello, hi, Deena and Mary and Mary hola. Now we're we're in Texas. Is that like new, are you near a big city or, and now I'm just gon na cut this here? Isn'T that a vet kudos little had done, you can just see that on the little baby's head so fun, so super super super simple to make. So I mean anybody can make that and you will just love it, and the only problem is that now all your friends and family are gon na. Ask you to make those for all their little babies so now on to the next one that I have, and this is another fun super simple baby bow: oh yeah, the purples and pinks. You know, loves pink, I mean purple so and actually I think this is a scale Griffin, yeah, okay um, I Gayle put up a really beautiful necklace made actually out of out of this rhinestone on and that will be going up really soon on our blog. So I just want to give you guys a heads up to keep a watch out for it, because it's a really pretty Julie, said cute love, purple, pink, Jeanne said love that crystal said so cute thanks. You guys and Mary said near Corpus, Christi and Deena said. Oh okay, now you have to tell me where Boas Alabama is cuz. I'Ve absolutely no idea! So I'm gon na now fold my bowdabra bow wire in half and lay this down into the bowdabra, and I think this is gon na be really fun. So what I'm doing is I'm taking my tool again, and I think this is again a really cute bow for a baby for baby pictures or just to dress them up. I always think it's so cute to see these little like six-month-old babies with bows bigger than their heads on them, and it's just so adorable and the thing is their expense have to buy, but as you'll see here they're so so so super simple to make. So I'm just gon na scrunch this in here and you just keep trying to knock down, and then I mean I take my purple and I chose to do this in the mini in the big bowdabra, because I'm putting a lot of ribbon in here as you'll See because I'm sort of making this a little puff and then I'm gon na put a flower on top of it, which I think will look really pretty on a headband. So, okay, I know where Birmingham is so now. What I've got here is we're gon na make one of her flowers sort of like what I have on Mac and then those are you watching me regularly know that I'm always wearing hats with bows on them. So it's just a matter of what hat and what, though I decide to wear on a given week. So what I have here, these are gon na, be my petals of my flower, and so I just cut like about five inches and then cut points, and you is a wired ribbon. This is kind of a Wired satin, so I'm just gon na scrunch this in here and I'm gon na take another one and just kind of I'm just sort of shaping them a little bit, as I put them in so it'll, be easier when I'm finished and I'M gon na take one more petal and then I'm gon na take. I mean that not pet, the petal leaf, I don't mean petal, and so now I have my petals and all my petals. I'Ve curved it and I didn't finish the ends because I think it's nice when they're unfinished, so I'm just gon na throw some petals in here. Oh my gosh, where are you Lucy and now we're gon na push this down in here? Are you in the England? So, like 10 past midnight I have, I have a friend of a Ryan here, name's Lisa and then they're from Sheffield. No, yes, yes, okay, and so now I'm gon na put this down in here and take one more and in here and I'm going to take my bowdabra wand and springe everything down and then I'm gon na take my wires and just like always, I'm gon na Pull it through the Slipknot, I'm gon na hold my bow whoops, but when you lose my wire hold my boat tight I'll. Still in my bowdabra, you pull it out. Then I'm gon na separate the ends. You can already see it starting to form. I love it when you pull it out and you're, seeing your bow, almost finished and you're getting it through to the back of all this tool. Here we go so now. I'M gon na do the same thing I always do, which is I'm gon na just tie a knot and tie it one more time. Terry says: love the colors and Karen asked how many layers can one do for a bow? Oh my gosh. That is a very difficult question because I have done depending on the kind of bow you're making I've made those that are like multiple layers. In fact, if you look at this bow here behind me, that's got one, and this is two different ribbon. Together, two and then three and then four different layers of weight, five different layers of ribbon on this one bow. So and that's that's a pretty big bow, so it really depends on what your effect is, that you want, and why? What you're, making the bow for. So for this I could probably have put a couple more layers if I wanted to make it bigger so to shape this. What I'm going to do is I'm just gon na kind of start at the bottom and sort of puff everything out and then I'm going to come up to my petals and I'm gon na just kind of my rose or flower, whatever kind of flower you want To call it and I'm gon na just bring it up this way, so what kind of scrunches up then I'm going to take my petals and I'm going to shape them, and I hope you can see how I'm doing this. So I'm just shaking all my petals, and so you can see how it's forming into a really pretty little flower, and now the last thing I'll do is shape my inner ones. And so now I have a really pretty puffy bow and I'm gon na grab. My headband now this headband has a little seam right here. So what I do is I take one end of my wire and I'll bring it through on this side of my seam and then I'm gon na bring it back through. Actually, I just messed up, I'm putting it on this side of the seam and then I'm gon na bring it back through on the other side of the seam and the reason that I'm doing that whoops, you grab my wire there. The reason I'm doing it like that is because that way, there's no wire against the baby's head and you could even use yarn to tie it on if you wanted to. But I find that as long as the wire is on the other side. Again, that's not against the head that you'll be fine! So now I'm gon na just slip this here and shake my flower out and all I need is a little baby's head to put that on. Isn'T that fun so there you go our fun little flower headband and you couldn't do more flowers if you wanted and put them around that. So I'm just gon na put this aside and I thought this time I would make something that's a little bit different. Thank you Karen. I love it when you guys it just it's so much fun. Excuse me, I've got ta bend down and get my headband. That'S helped it's so much fun when you guys comment and share, because it makes me feel like I'm not talking to air her when you do your Facebook lies, you wonder, is anybody watching or even if they are watching, are they liking? What I'm doing so thanks? You guys, I really appreciate the comments on the hearts, so let's take my bowdabra bow wire and I'm gon na fold it in half this way now we're gon na make in the mini book pepper. I think oh it's right here, I'm like where did I do so? I'M folding my wire and a half and I'm just gon na tuck it under the mini. So now I'm just taking my blue tool and I'm going to just try to straighten it all out, and you know, what's so cool about this, you guys to is, if you have daughters or granddaughters, they would love helping out and making their own hair bows and A little girl can easily do this. Darn said hi Sandy and Lucy said I only have the mini bowdabra. Would you show us something simple on the mini? Please that's what I'm doing right now. This is something really simple on the mini, so I just folded my wire in half and I'm just scrunching in my um tool and so now um. I have this really pretty peacock ribbon that I like don't know if you can see, but there's like little peacock feathers on it. So it's really pretty so I'm going to what I've done is I've already cut it and I've already dubbed held. So just in case you missed my dovetail fold the ribbon in half and then you just cut from the edge into the fold. So just like this, we'll just cut a little tiny piece, and so I have three pieces cut like that and you're just gon na push that down into mini and I'm gon na take another one and do the same thing and I'll push that down and take One more and push this down and take my wand and just kind of scrunch. Everything in I have the regular size, but I have to purchase the mini after watching these videos. Oh, thank you yeah, there's a use for both of them um and then I'm just putting my corker ribbon and again. If you just write pork or ribbon in the comments I'll send you a link to where you can buy it pre-made, because I like it so much better to be able to buy it all pre-made than to have to sit there and take a dowel and curl. Your ribbon now what I've done here is just taken my tool and I just folded it in half and show you how I did that just fold it in half and then now, I'm just gon na take it and scrunch it into the middle. So we're kind of finishing the way we started and I'm gon na take my wand and again, I'm just gon na scrunch everything down now who wasn't that said they had the mini, but not the big one. You remember, or is it hard to see? Okay, Lucy? Basically anything out so now I'm gon na pull my wire through my Slipknot, but basically any claim that you see me make in the big bit of a bra. You can do it in the mini it just you make it smaller. So I'm gon na bring this around bring it around to the back, but I'm gon na make a couple of things with the mini tonight. So and I'm just gon na go behind here. Genie said I just got some peacock ribbon the other day and then she really said. I need curtain pullbacks for my purple bedroom, any ideas yeah. You could make tassels in the bowdabra and then take a piece of your like a nice piece of fabric and then make tassels with your bowdabra and put them on it, and then that could be a really pretty curtain tie-back. I have to think about that. You came up with one for a facebook live maybe later in the month so and we can take this one and let's put this one on to an alligator clip. So all I'm gon na do here is I'm going to put the top of the alligator clip against the bow and just I'm gon na open it up, and I'm just gon na bring this through not through both of them through here and I'm gon na wrap. It around twice and then I'm gon na bring it back through here now. Also, you guys go to the App Store and it's free. We have our bowdabra app and you can download it download it for free and then on there. We have all kinds of demos for everything and then I'm just gon na tie this off here. Thanks crystal, I know, and the thing is that we all know crafters tend to be a little bit of the hoarder type and we save all of our ribbon and now we can actually use it, which makes me really happy. So now you have a cute little hair clip well here I'll show you isn't that cute and fun and Geney. I can't wait to see the bows you make with your peacock ribbon because I know they'll be gorgeous. Krista said my grandmother rest, her soul taught me to save scraps use for other DIYs of the little girls. Oh thank you for being there and watching and sharing your time with me. I look forward to my Monday's when I get to spend my half-an-hour abode. A bragging with you guys is that a verb. I think I just made it one um. Oh, you know what let me show you one more. I know it was Laurie. I think Lucy Thank You, Lucy, who asked for another mini bowdabra project. Let me show you another one, so I'm gon na grab my bite, my gold, whatever bow wire and I'm gon na fold, my bowdabra wire in half and just lay this out in here. Thanks, sorry about that, and now this is our bowdabra scrunchie ribbon, which we sell on this site. Oh, I almost forgot. We have a really really cool sale, going right now for our ultimate kits, which is basically the big bowdabra in the mini bowdabra, run to your and then and then we also have one and bowdabra bow wire, and then we also have another kit, which has four Hair bows and it's not some beautiful hair about a ribbon, the mini bowdabra, mini bowdabra, hair, bow tool and roller and then and the CD that comes with it and they're on sale. For so sure, thank you ribbon done in here and then I'm taking my really pretty tool and I'm going to scrunch this down a little bold sparkles on it, which are really gon na show next to the tool. This is much in here, bring it all down and what I love with bowdabra is you can mix off and I'll take my bubble, wand and just really push out anything in there? Is you can mix all kinds of textures and colors so here we're gon na put our pink like leopard print and they actually, if anybody's interested? I think I bought this at Michaels just if you want to know where I got it cuz. I really love this pink ribbon this in here they've another piece of this little pretty pink and let's do one more scrunch down with my wand, cuz, that's a lot of stuff to put in the mini bowdabra, and then I'm gon na just take my little pearls Here, scrunch those down and now I'm gon na, take my bowdabra bow wire and pull it through my Slipknot pull it really tight, while it's still in the bowdabra pull it out just separate my ends, bring it around the back and I'm gon na tie a knot. I'M gon na shape it before I tie my final, so just one that kind of puff everything out here here, the shaping is always probably the place where you have to be the most patient to get it exactly the way you want, and so now I'm still Gon na just tuck this out here and pop my little too old, sparkly tool out and take my teeth, and then I can just tie this right onto a ponytail holder. Just this in and again I love when you guys share especially honor bowdabra fan page. You can share your pictures and, if you don't know where our fan page is just comment and write, where's the fan page and I'll, send you a link after the Facebook live so, and I do continuously check your comments, even if it's like a week after we Ask who's not fun and super super super simple to make. Thank you, Karen yeah. I think it looks really pretty too so I'm going to set this aside and I think we're running short on time, but since yesterday was what was not Saturday, I'm sorry Saturday was the Derby. It made me think of the Derby hats, so this is sort of my take on a Derby headband, so I've just got two little pieces, they're, basically scraps of mesh, and I want them to look all frayed. So again, I'm doing this in the mini bowdabra, but you could do it in the big bowdabra and I have more of the corker written that I bought. I get premade, so let me just and so next week, I'm not sure if I'm gon na be live from home or it might be in California, there's being my brother, my my niece and nephews so I'll fold it in half lay it down. What is he said, pretty pretty Jimmy said, love and Jed love all these hair bows thanks to them. We'Re gon na keep doing lots of ey're bows this week or this month, so we'll have lots more. So all I'm gon na do here is just kind of lay this down in here and then I'm gon na do the same thing with this other piece, so they're just kind of messy and they're supposed to be so then I take a piece of my yellow Tool and I'm gon na just scrunch this down in here, and it's really you just kind of guide it down and any little girl can help. You make this and then my cute little corker ribbons, the green and the yellow, which I just think go so pretty together and and they'll just take my bowdabra wand, scrunch everything down and pull this up pull my wires through my loop, pull it out. I'M gon na separate the ends and this one - let's just tie a knot here so this one here you could tie on to a headband or you could use like a glue dot or a glue gun and just kind of glue it onto your hat. So it's sort of fun, I'm covering it with my hand so or you can do the same, the same technique and just put it on to tie it on to a headband by basically the way that I do this is I'll just go to where the seam Is and I'll go in one side of the seam and then come out with the same piece of wire and then whoops show you what I'm doing here so I'm just pulling it through and then I'll just tie it up here and cut my cut. My wire Lucy said: can I request a red white and blue bow and honor the royal wedding in the next live broadcast? Yes, actually you can. I didn't even think about doing something in honor of the royal wedding, so I definitely have to do that and I probably need to do a thing or a headpiece in honor of the royal wedding. So here you go, and I want to thank you guys, isn't that cute. I think it's kind of fun, so I want to thank you guys so much for taking the time to join me and spending your time with me. I will look forward to seeing you all next week same place same time, so it will be 4 p.m. Pacific 7 p.m. Eastern 6, Central and 5 mountain. So I will see you next week and we'll definitely do some headbands and hot type ideas for the royal wedding. Ok, bye,
