Hello, everyone, i'm bringing you a beginner's ribbon tutorial today. The reason i'm calling this a beginner one is because there is no template needed no sewing involved. Just a basic pinwheel bow we're going to make free hand. So it's a four centimeter wide ribbon or one and a half inch wide, and that is cut to 46 centimeters in length, and this is going to be what i call a double pinwheel. You can do a single pinwheel where you fold it just twice like that, and then you make your fold we're going to do it. A double so you're going to begin with bringing a piece down, we're not going to measure or anything just randomly bring a piece down because, like i say this is just a freehand bow just to show you how i do them, then you bring this piece up And then i'm holding them between my fingers and then back down and then the last piece back up and then i'm just going to lay this tail over the top of that middle piece slightly and then i'm just going to slide it so that they're in line At the top - but i want this tail to slightly overhang by around a centimeter, so i'm just sliding it. You can slide it like this to line it up. So i want it about like that, so this is overhanging by around a centimeter. This piece here is overhanging by around a centimeter. These two pieces here are just touching, and these two pieces here are just touching, but the tails are overlapping these outside pieces. So the bottom piece kind of looks like this underneath that tail and that one looks the same but the opposite way, and then what we're going to do now. So i'm just going to fold that upwards and give that a little squeeze just to mark where that center is so. I'Ve got a crease here, so i can now judge where the center is and we're going to start making that pinch. So, to make the pinch, i'm going to go in put those two middle pieces together and then bring these edges down and pinch that there like that and then push this middle piece down and the outer piece fold that downwards and then pinch that, with my other Hand and then bring this outer edge up and down. So that's what it looks like now and then taking a piece of thread. I'M going to place that under that thumb, leaving a bit of a tail to tie, i'm just going to lay that down on my table and i'm going to wrap that around the center a few times to hold it all in place. And then i'm going to tie that off in a knot and as you can see, you've then got a nice pinwheel shape all done. Freehandedly and now you can decide how you want your tails. You can fold it in half and cut a v in there and this side or you can do it at an angle. So i'm going to do mine in a v shape so folding that first tail in half i'm going to from this outer corner. I'M going to cut diagonally and at an angle i'm going to curve the scissors round, i'm just going to curve them around keeping that pinched open it up slightly. So i don't want these to bond together while i heat seal it. So i open it up slightly and then run my lighter along those edges to heat seal and when you open it up, that's what it looks like i'm going to do the same with the opposite tails. So this is what we've got now and now we can add our clip and wrap around our center. Now i don't have this ribbon the same color in the one centimeter wide, so this is another little hack for a beginner. What i'm going to do is i'm going to cut a strip off, i'm just doing it by eye, because i've wrapped my clip so many times. I can roughly judge now how long a piece i need for my clips. This is around 11 centimeters. I need to wrap around a clip and then i'm going to cut another piece off, and that is going to be my center to wrap around the center and then this piece, if you heat seal this piece before you store away your ribbon, you can then use That next time, so i'm just going to heat seal that so it don't fry in storage and then that piece i can use for another bow next time. So this piece has got raw edges on either side, so i'll heat seal all the way around, and this piece have just got the raw edge on the one side, so i'll, just heat seal on one side on that raw edge just to prevent that from frying. So i'll use that one to wrap around my clip and this one i'll use to wrap around my center. So i've got a 45 millimeter double prong clip i'm going to pop some hot glue got a bit of fluff stuck in there that you won't see that one's on it's from the last hair bow. I made. I had a bit of marabou feather stuck to it. There you get, you won't see that, like that, you can stick that on the underside of our bow. I don't put any glue on this part just so. The pinchy part is free right across the middle of the pinwheel bow and then taking our other piece for the center and then just start wrapping that around the center piece of cotton. I'M just gon na pop a little bit of glue over where that cotton is to make sure that that doesn't ever come out and show so and then trim off any excess ribbon and just shape your bag, and there you have a free hand, double pinwheel bow. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial if you've got any questions pop them into the comments below and i'll do my best to get back to you, thanks for watching everyone.
