How To Make A Wig Topper Out Of A Wig

Hey everyone, its Angie here, just coming at you today, with my promised video on how to make a wig topper out of your own wigs. It'S a lot cheaper option. If you have wigs on hand that are old or worn out, usually a wig will wear out on the bottoms and on the underneath and get tatted and tangled, but generally the top stays pretty good-looking. If you have, you know a synthetic sort of cheaper wig, but they still look good. It doesn't matter if they're cheap, but my hair has grown out a lot since my first video on how to put your hair up in a wig topper, and so it's it's going to blend a lot better. As you can see, it's not you know it's not super great, but it's long enough to blend, probably it's still very thin on top nothing's changed really other than it's just grown out and lightened up some. So I have a wig that I love. Love love. Her name is Bailey she's free, tres, equal. I have a video on her too. If you want to check that out and she's worn out and as I cut out Bailey, I really hope that she blends with my hair Bailey, mrs. Bailey Bailey is a little darker, but the part that we're going to be cutting up. Is this part the top and the top is generally lighter than the underneath of your wig? So I hope this blends. Okay with my hair, okay, I'm gon na - do my best to keep this video short. I don't like long videos. I don't want to watch a long video, but I do want to show you how to do this. It'S not hard. It just takes a little practice, but like every wig video person says don't give up. If you don't find your perfect wig or your perfect topper or if you don't make one perfect your fur for your first time, just don't give up, because let me tell you once you get good at this. This is so much easier than doing with this. It'S it's life-changing your hair options that are out there, for you will change your life. You don't have to walk out of the house like this. If you want to walk out of the house like this, I love you and you must have the confidence of Superman or superwoman, but I don't want to go out of the house like this, so I love all the options that I have um. I'Ve already sewn in two clips for you these clips, I got at Sally's Beauty, Supply they're, not very expensive. They come in big old packs. I forgot to sew in that side. Well, I can do that for you and then I sewed in one in the back. This is just a wig topper, the top piece they have some clips pressure clips in it, I sort of studied how they sewed sodam, just a couple of stitches on either side, and you want this rubber part here, that's rubber! You want that on the bottom and your and your clip facing down. So when you put it in your head, it slides into your hair and clips down into your hair. Okay and the back ones are opposite of that, because they're going to clip up into the back of your head: okay and they're, just tangent clips okay. So this is, if you need a reference, maybe look at one that you already have study it and and apply that to your wig, we're gon na cut out this middle piece here. It goes all the way back to here. Okay, now I've already started my clips for you. Okay, that's just really easy to cut out the first easiest part to do. Are these little star these here see see this see this strand, how attaches to the to the topper, and then they are sewing the weft onto the strand. This little piece here is the easiest part to take off and you're not going to cut any of the hair if you do cut a little hair, so what you just snip it and then you'll find the next one over. Let'S sound to the topper and you're gon na snip, and then this is a big piece, we'll figure that out in a second but I'm taking off all these little rubber band e-types getting right up close to that topper right underneath I'm doing this in the camera Is not easy, oops snip, I cut some hair there, but it doesn't matter and fit right under it again. Snip and here are the combs that are sewn into the wig. Now this part has a you know, a big space, and that might be a little scary, but what we're gon na do is just you'll feel under there their finger and figure out where that weft is just cut around it see see here. Where am i I'm trying to make this video not be so long, but sometimes you just have to explain things I'm trying to get my fingers under that hair and pull it apart and right. There is this theme that we're going to cut on I'm going to cut around that weft that wife right there just cut it out guys. Please forgive me if I can't show you exactly on camera cuz, it's a little difficult! Okay, so I've got it parted out to where I can see what I'm doing and, like I said, if you cut a little bit of the hair, it's not the end of the world and there it's separated and I didn't cut the hair. Here'S here's! What we've cut off so far, alright, we've cut away. What we're doing is we're cutting away the topper right now, let's come to the back here, where we want to get behind this weft the weft er, that's closest to the topper, get behind there see it's just my finger and material, I'm not cutting in here. It'S not scary. Well, it can't be at first, but I've done this about five or six times, so the best practice is to get cheap, wigs that you like and wear them, get some wear out of it. What my scissor is just can you see right under that fabric? I'M not cutting hair, get get some cheap. Wigs get some wear out of them when they wear out then start playing with them. You'Re crafty, then you'll have a lot of fun with it. I missed a couple of these some pieces here all right now, we're up to the other side over here. On the other side, see here's the other comb, I'm just gon na get under here, I'm left-handed guys, and it just makes for something funny. So we have cut away. What we've done is we've cut away the back part of the wig. Now some people will take something like this and make like a 3/4 week with it and wear it on the back of their hair or something that's not what I'm doing I'm just gon na toss it, but I promised I would show you how to sew in The clips now I've sewn these in already sewn this one completely. This one needs 1/2, and this need to happen. We were just gon na go in here on the side and we're gon na pick up a little bit of fabric and and get it through that hole right. There, okay - and I usually I'm just gon na loop - it I usually make about three loops and it's very secure and my thread sticking up, but that doesn't matter you're not gon na see it when it's on your head and then I go down to the bottom. Lip there's three loops if you want to go through all three, I'm sorry, three holes. If you want to go through all three, you can found that just securing a couple of them works really well, okay. So when you're done with that before you pull that all the way through on your last on your last stitch, take your thread through your loop, because you're gon na make a knot. Okay and I do it about two times - maybe and then pull it through and you're gon na have a knot there, okay and then let me do the back one. This is the one in the back. You could put two in the back if you want, but I find that just having one is plenty so again: go through and find a good place to put your needle through and come up, come up through the hole and then just wrap around the edge. We'Re wrapping around oh, this is so hard to doing camera, guys we're trying to wrap around the edge, but you get the gist. I mean you're, just wrapping around the edge of the cliff into the hole, and I put three in that one. I'M gon na put three in this one using the same thread same needle all right and before you finish. It off, take your thread through your loop and make you a couple of make you a couple of loops. We'Ve got our clips sound in our topper, but isn't she lovely she's a darker root, but you could lighten that up with some root spray? That'S colored! I love this color. Okay. Now I'm gon na try to get in this camera. Sorry guys, don't just hate! Wig videos where they're like I can't do this, but truly it's not easy flat iron, my hair, so it's nice and straight like Bailey. If she were curly, I would curl it. You match your hair to your topper, but I like to UM, I like straight ones, but you know curly ones really blend well, too. Okay, so here's the part. My part goes about right here. Take your clips, push them back into your hair and push it and see I'm pulling. You know I'm pulling on this hair and it's and it's it's stuck straight to my head guys. Wow see this is what Stoppers are awesome, because you know, if you have some length on your hair, it just makes it look. You know a little thicker, it's like. I don't want to be Giselle Bundchen, but I don't want to walk all the hair. Look out of the house looking like I'm bald right and let's see this is how it looks in the front I've got some of my hair pulled out. It'S a very dark there, but if I wanted to take some some dark powder, I've shown this before the dark powder and go in there and shade to make it look. Dark, that's cool, but my hair, you saw how light my hair. Was it really blends with this I'm gon na wear this today she looks really good.
