Clip In Hair Extensions On Short Hair! (Tutorial)

I have had short hair for a few years now and while I do love the simplicity and low maintenance of it, I was ready for something new:) I had long hair as a teen and I pretty much wore it straight every day. Now that I am 22 and the internet is cooler, I actually know different ways to style long hair. Enjoy:)

Hey guys so um, this is a quick video on quick video on how I put in my extensions in the morning. My hair is very, very short. Naturally um. I usually open this piece back, but I wanted to show you guys how short my hair is. Yet this is my extensions um. I got the one Amazon there: human hair, they're gray. I love them very much I'll, put the link down and the bed that I'll put the link down below. But if you want to see how I put these into my very short hair and blend them out, keep on watching hey guys. As you can see, my hair is very short. I have a headband on because I just got done doing my makeup but yeah. This is just the length head, it's great, it was a lot shorter, come one zero and then you know hair grows. I mean I've had short hair for a couple years and I always try to grow it out and I just get bored and I get it gets old and I just cut it all off again, so I thought that hair extensions would be the better route for That so it would give me a little bit of like this is what you could have and like look, you don't have an awkward stage. You can just like clip right away from the awkward stage. So if you want to see how to clip in extensions into short hair, my hair is probably about like, like 4 inches, 5 inches, probably like 4 or 5. I don't know really bad at that yep. You want to see how I do my hair in the morning for work. Keep on watching so first things. First, I start out by sectioning my hair, this top section around, like with the crown of my head and in the front I pull down last - and this is like my layer that covers everything. So I pull this away first, I sometimes do put a clip, but that like the hair and can like slide out and stuff, but so today, I'm just gon na give myself like a pebbles Flintstone honey table, alright, alright yabba-dabba-doo, which is cute or my second and Third ones, are I section off my like sides, so it's pretty much like from my ear up. They section this out of the way I I like. I take these sections out fairly quickly, but this is just so for when I get started to get like the bottom pieces in, because you don't want to like overlap it with your hair and then it just becomes like a big ol mess, and this is we've. Come the most efficient way for me to do this, these extensions. So again, this is like a really cute look out, so my hair is like pretty short back here, so what I usually do is I take this section, clip it out at the bay with some of these like metal, duckbill clips and then after that, first section By the way, these hairs are too short to like to pull up into one they like start to fall out. So I split this into two sections: doesn't need to be super neat because I bring them down around the same time, but just to keep them out of the way. No like two or three inches from the nape can leave that out because that's where your first clip is gon na go. So when your hair is longer, you can bring it down right down to the bottom, but when your hair is shorter, the hair is, as they get closer to the nape of your neck. Okay, a lot shorter, so it's not giving your clips much to grab on to I'm doing all of this blind. So my sectioning is like wonky. It doesn't really matter cuz. This is how I do it every morning and it comes out fine so and then, once you look like a troll you're ready to get started, alright, so first things: first, you take a teasing, comb or brush. This is just um teasing brush. I got at Walmart, it's the goody brand. It came with a teasing comb as well. I need to switch back and forth. I was doing the comb for a while and now he's in the brush. They really don't matter. Whatever one gets you a tighter tease, you're. Just gon na tease it all all that little section at the bottom you're just going to tease that out the bed like the tighter, the teases, the better your hair is gon na stay in. So you get it a little like straight tease it till it stands like you want it to be sticking out and then just take some hairspray um. I usually don't use Pantene products, but this is what I have so it's fine get some hairspray spray. Your T's and then we're gon na take your first. You want to start out with your bottom clips being um your like longest ones, mine. Usually there are four clips, but mine are just like three clips pretty far apart, which is fine. It'S not a big deal. I curled them ahead of time because it's a lot easier than curling them when you're in there in your head, at least for me. So I do it like that and then you click them in. I almost feel like the three, because I like put the middle one right in the middle of the back of my head and then one on each side, which is nice. On top of the tease. There is the first one and then you're gon na go into your little two sections and pull down like not a lot of hair like pull down like a tiny baby around my hair. These clips, you kind of, want to be like right at the top of each other and you're gon na go in and do the same thing and tease that yeah it's a Friday night. I plan on going out after work, so I want these to stay in which they usually do. I'D never really have a problem like I'll have like one clip like slide out. Sometimes, if I'm not brushing my hair, I work or something but never usually like a like falls out. Like has never happened to be like perfect, when you spray, the hairspray honestly makes a huge difference. Cuz it makes your hair like sticky, so it helps the clips. Not to slide take in the second clip again it's one of the widest ones, and I just got these clips on Amazon. They were like these are the 16 inch. I started out getting the 14 inch, so some of my clips that I'll be putting in will be shorter. These are the 16 inch and they're pretty long. I didn't, and this has been curled and I'll brush them out and like sit them a little bit but yeah they're, pretty they're, pretty good. I really like these. My 14s were getting like pretty beat up cuz. I would wear them everyday. I would put through him. Oh, my messy bun, I was wearing them in braids. I was curling the most teasing, I'm spraying them. I was doing everything till my it's like dyed them twice like they had already. They had been through the wringer and I didn't feel too bad, because my 14-inch ones were 40 bucks like they were kind of my testers. I got them in white and then like the color, like bleach white, was what it was called and like they were good. They matched my hair perfectly. I hadn't worn them when my hair was like lavender and I had worn. My hair was blonde like the color. It is now, and they had matched pretty well like even after I bleached them out and stuff, which I like net, don't recommend bleaching extensions because they will dry out very quickly and they don't have any like natural proteins or oils in it to repair themselves. So if you like, sometimes you think you'll save some money by buying like a darker extension and just like lightening it and like. I just don't suggest that it's you're not getting any you're gon na end up getting like the crappiest quality quality extensions and like I would much rather pay like the extra $ 20 to get great quality, then try to DIY it at home. So I just pulled down another section from those two sections in the back and I'm teasing it now and then this last long one is one of my white ones. So it's like a lot shorter, not too much lighter these ones. I got in the shade platinum blonde and these one I got in white blonde so and then I washed these ones with purple shampoo, so they're pretty they match pretty. Well, that's why I like to intermix them so that way they kind of flow seamlessly, but then it kind of gives the illusion of layers. When you wear different lengths, you'll see what I mean when it's all done. Extension, extensions, laughs and now the bank is done. This is looks like it's still. Gon na be there's gon na be a lot more hair back here once all the extensions are in because the ones on the sides will wrap around to the back. So there's a fact. I separate my extensions. I do three pieces or like three sets in the back and then three on each side. This is my right side, and this is my left side. There'S not really a difference. I think I just do them like. I have like two two clips on the right side, because this is my lighter side and then I do two three clips on this side generally start out on the left side. When I do this, it doesn't really matter. It'S just that's how I like to do it, because this is my like heavier side, so I want this to be nice and full, so this was on pulling down the rest of those two sections like that's the last of it, and then I just have this Section up here and when you do this um just this is how I do it. Try not. I know it's hard to read literally spying on a tease, that's right on your route, but try not to spray it directly on to your skin, because hair spray is most hair, sprays are alcohol-based and that can be really drying on your scalp and nothing is worse Than having clips in your head, when your scalp is so itchy, and you can't scratch and you're like if you scratch it you're gon na pull it all out, and it's just gon na be a mess. So try to keep your scalp like hydrated, like what I usually do. I guess I can least like once a week I'll do like a treatment on my scalp just because my scalp gets really really dry. I only wash my hair like twice a week, so it's like every other time I'll do like a nice treatment. So this is a 3 clip as well. It'S um the clips are closer together on this one. So these are my side pieces. That'S I mean these long ones like the 16 inch clips are like brand-new, so the clips are still really tight, which is good. Don'T let me wrong it's great, but it's like you're like pushing it into your head and then we're gon na go into this top section that we like clip the clipped up originally in the back. So now we got and it kind of your sections can be like a little spotty. It doesn't really matter as long as there's hair, where you put the clips like I'm, not super meticulous about this, and you would think that I would be because I don't have much like head hair, but now we have a two clip. So this is another one of those sixteen ones so we're gon na put this in and you kind of want to try to for a glai or your clips sit just so there's no gaps, and now it's starting to like fill out, which is nice. Now I only have one left on this side so now I'm going to start moving to this side I like to put in the last to last so that way, they're like right up here so on this side. This is my like. This is my heavier sights of this, where my bangs are so my bangs, and that whole section covers these clips over here in these little baby hairs. But on this side I don't have that. So what I do is I sit the clips back a little bit more and then I twist these hairs back into it. So it's like this sides pulled back a little bit and with hair this short, it's actually really nice cuz. I don't really have to like curl or flat iron, my hair, before I put my extensions in and like blow dry it when I shower that gets it pretty straight. My hair's, naturally straight so I like put some product in it and then I'll just like do this we're gon na do. This is a three clip and now I'm the clip on the three clip on this side and then the Reed 3 clip on this side. They are like coming together in the back, there's like a tiny space in between them, but pretty much connect, which is good. It adds like another layer, clippings used to be so bad when I was in high school, like girls would wear them, and I mean that this was also like you. We couldn't afford to buy like belani extensions or whatever, like there, weren't, really nice brands out there. We would just have to go to Sally's and buy extensions and buy weight. I mean I didn't wear extensions. I had long hair and then a pixie cut. So I am I missed out on that trend. We didn't really have like the best of options for extensions. So the girls generally war, just like ones from Sally's and unless you had like fine brown hair. Naturally that was like perfectly healthy and shiny. Your extensions did not want like it was not a thing. I knew some girls with like blonde extensions that the blonde never matched. It was always that kind of like green, and it was like just not cute like and push like me. You don't really know much or we didn't like high schoolers now know everything it's amazing, but we didn't know too much about hair and extension. Like we didn't know too much. We just kind of knew what our friends did like. We didn't know how the world of hair ran other than outside of our school like. That was not a thing that was common knowledge. Now the sides are done. I just have two pieces left. These are my 14-inch ones. I have a three clip ending to clip to just pop on top, in the way that I do that is I take out all this back section which actually unities this now, because we get to and the link digging into it and it's like a whole mess. The back, like top section, that we originally clipped out we're going to tease that, and that is going to be what hides your clips in the back spray that this tease doesn't need to be as tight as the ones that you clip. Your extensions into. You still want to tell like stand-up but you're in gon na pretty much end up, brushing it out mostly, but this kind of adds that, like the thickness to it so we'd like just lay smoothly - and I like to leave like a little layer of hair of My own hair out like over, where the clips are so it kind of like hides a little bit so that piece I'm like I'm, not sure how blended it is right now, because I haven't like mirror check that re teased re set the hair, but you just Spin around and show you sometimes like Flatiron and smooth them down, so they like blend a little more seamlessly or I'm just like where I have. If I'm going somewhere. Oh my god, I don't care, I don't care that much. Oh, my hair is usually like a deep side. Part like see it just kind of goes right like about usually see. I have a lot less hair on this side that I do on this side. So we'll see how this goes. So if I was to clip, I think what I'm gon na do. I know I just took this hair down and I'm clipping clipping it back up again, but um yeah. So there's two clip is very pretty much just gon na go right. On top of my other clip just cuz like I, don't really have much space, so I'm literally just going in here, but I'm just gon na go right in on top of it and clip that it because I don't want to pull. I don't want to like thin this layer out anymore by pulling hair down and teasing it, because it's or else it like really like really won't blind. I it's already a hard time getting it to blend, as is so I'm not probably teased back here a little bit. It'S like, I feel like it being flat, and it's really annoying, so that's just get in it. Tease this whole chunk. That is yep. That is good. That'S pretty much! How you want your to use to look I'll, go in and do the last clip on this side now this side, you can actually like pull some hair down and do some do it correctly, because we have this whole nice big spot to cover and now on This last piece I go into my bangs a little bit and that's what helps it like, get that more like swoop across the front, as I would if it was my real hair, just always got hair in my face, because I did that I thought that was The coolest thing to do in my last my last clip this again. This is up. Another 14 inch clip. So it's one of my shorter ones, and this is nice because it helps add, like some body right to my hair. We'Re just going in this is just a wet brush. It'S not like the wet brush brand, but it is a brush meant for wet detangling wet hair. So we just kind of go in brush that down brush that chunk down. It'S like sometimes, I just end up. Keep I like brush the T's out like six times yeah just kind of gently brush. It feel that all your clips are secure and I'm that's why? One of my main reasons why I like brushing it because you can feel if any are loose, keep hitting the earring. So I used to brown bobby pins to twist back this section when I had long hair like years ago. I think really about like four five years ago, when I had long hair um, I used to always pull it back on one side like that was just a look I always did, and then they were like everybody. I used to always tell me like why don't you just shave this side of your head, like you literally, never wear your hair down on that side anyway, and then I was like I'll. Do you one better I'll, just cut all my hair off cuz, I made sense spray that down and then this is it. This is the finished. Look, I'm actually gon na take a look with a mirror in the back, see how well I did doing this without like, like obsessively checking in it spraying all these little hairs down. My hair is so fine and I just washed it the other day. So it's still so soft so like my hair is just like boom. I want to go this way and it doesn't stay where you put itself yeah I'll, probably go in and like tweak the back a little bit to blend it a little more, but as you can see, this is a really nice like seamless, fairly seamless blend. I mean you still see like little pieces under here, which, if that bothers you, you can always sometimes, if I'm like pulling this back or something you can like twist your little and like natural hairs and then like pin them back behind your ear. So that way, they don't like say like that way: they're not there, and it just goes right to your extensions. Well, if you liked this video subscribe and I'll post more of these, like extension, tutorials um, I am only recently becoming a full-time with hair clip and extension wear. So this is like all new to me, but I've had enough friends. I'Ve watched enough videos over the years that I kind of figured out what I needed to do for my hair to make them work thumbs up and subscribe for more videos like this. If you want me to make a video on how I achieved this makeup, look you can comment down below this. I'M really feeling this especially my brows are not as harsh as they usually are, and I'm definitely digging it. Alright, guys I'll talk to you later, bye,

Lynn March: Thank you for making this look less overwhelming for beginners (like myself) Ive watched countless tutorials and i gotta say I’ve gotten way more information from you than professionals.

Katie Louise: I know this is an old video, but I definitely needed it! I got a pixie back in April so I could get any and all chemicals completely out of my hair and start fresh! I was wearing wigs for a while, but it’s becoming to tedious to hide little bits of hair that want to pop out, so just bought some extensions that should be here next week! So this definitely helps me figure out how to apply to short hair and still make it look natural!

Nothing but watching: Thank you!! My hair is just an inch or so longer than yours and I’ve been thinking about hair extensions and clip ins are the only ones my hair stylist is comfortable with so it’s good to know it won’t look awkward

Candi: Thank you! My natural hair is similar to yours, and I want to try extensions for an anniversary date with my husband this weekend. I got two packs of 14" extensions from Amazon and will be following this tutorial bc it's the best one I've found for short hair. Hope it looks as good as yours!!

Margie Jones: Thank you! This is so helpful for those of us with short hair!

J Eastman: Currently growing my hair out and want to cut it down again. Fightin’ that urge by buying extensions and watching vids. My hair is where yours is in this video. Shagginess on the bottom and back. Ugh! I think it’s great that you shared your process. Beauty is pain sometimes and looks kinda funny during the change. . Nice job! I think I will subscribe. Thank you.

Claire O'Leary: Love my hair is this exact length, colour and thickness. It’s driving me crazy but I didn’t think it was long enough to get away with extensions. Going to give them a go though. How fabulous are your teeth by the way

Crystal Bradford: I LOVE your confidence! Plus, you have perfected the hair extension experience lol great job!!!!

Gail Tyler: It looks so good! This is the best video I've watched on clip-ins on short hair - so thank you!

Sve Tiko: I was so surprised to see the exact technique that I came up with, when I lost one hair piece (hair salon installed it) at an eventI never wanted to feel this embarrassment ever again, so I teased each section and used freshly sprayed hairspray to glue the clips in even better. Now almost 10 years later I am growing out my buzz pixie and it's exact same length as yours in this video, so I decided it's time to take my clip ins and see if they are still ok maybe do some color touch up. Thanks for the video♥️

Joy Helsley: Love her!! I’m new to this so I’ve been watching lots of videos to learn. I must say, this is the first one that has NOT annoyed the shit out of me! Thank you, FINALLY!!!!

Snuppeline: Wow! Thank you so much! If you had known how many YouTube videoes I have watched to get an idea if I could use clip ins! Yours is the best, it is waaay better than any of the others. You looked amazing with your long hair, and your short.

Courtney Mccarty: Dude, your hair looks amazing! I've watched so many tutorials of women with super short hair and the end result is never very good. Your hair looks amazing and you are super beautiful. Get it

I don’t use makeup much so I really don’t know how to apply it & no one ever showed me how to, I know that’s really sad but it is true. Thanks, I look forward to watching your videos

Tenacious Dee: Try a half wig it’s so much easier for us short hair girls . Two seconds and it’s on ! Xx

Cathy Knowler: So pretty! Both long and short, you are stunning. Its good to hear your hair is fine like mine. Can I ask if you can see the clips if you put your hair into a ponytail for the gym, or when its a windy day and your hair is blowing all over the place?

Bethany Jean: super helpful video. my hair is about the length of yours. Ive been debating on to buy extensions or not.

Lea Seberg Fladstad: Has anyone else started wearing extensions also because you have also had problems having short and thin hair for a long time and not been able to get long and thick hair again which you don't have patience or not even have time to wait for something special as me?

Kelly Reinhold: This was helpful as I have short hair and wanna use my extensions for my wedding but just a tip, you should pull out your curls. Yours look good but it would make it all blend together much better and look fuller if you comb out the curls so they’re not so curly cue like. Nice job tho!

star heather: Hey I literally have the same hair cut as u! Except mine in the back is a little bit shorter and it was my first short hair cut ever and blah blah blah. I bought a 5 pc hair extension set and now I just feel like it looks kind of flat/thin. Do u have any blending tips or tips on how to make the extensions look thicker?

Aim2B TOL: Looks very nice!!! I do hope it’s comfy though.

Me Myself and I: You did good! Imma buy some too. My hair is like yours.

Susannah Q: Gorgeous!

Maja Novak: I wish I was so brave to cut my hair. You are so cute!

Preet Aulakh: Thanks for video . I have same length and want kinda same extesnions. ❤️
