Hey, I hope you guys are doing well and I hope that you are having a great weekend, and I know this is like not a regularly scheduled livestream. But I thought I would go ahead and can I come on tonight to do a really quick livestream, because I have been getting requests to do a textured bun and I'm not going to have time to film that tutorial before the weekend is over and get it Edited and updated, so I know that you guys told me you liked you liked my tutorials to come across both in the edited film version and in the live tutorial version. So I thought I'd go ahead and knock out the live tutorial version for you guys. So if you're excited to see this textured bun tutorial, please let me know by saying hey and giving this video a thumbs up. Please feel free to share this video with anyone. You think might like to see it and yeah. I'M just happy to be back here with you guys and to share this style with you, because it is super easy to do like. I feel guilty even doing this tutorial, because once you guys see how easy it is to do, this is probably going to be like your go to all winter. So I like to do protective styles during the fall and winter months, because it's so harsh here in Chicago and I like to wear my hair out, but I also have learned over the last couple of years I like to keep my ends tucked away as well. Just because it's easier to manage, I feel like some of the protective styles that I do are hat friendly. So we don't have to worry about like having that crazy Bed Head or crazy hair thing going on. You know during the winter months and there it's just easy, you can get up and go really. You know really quickly. So I hope you guys enjoy this tutorial. If you have any questions, do them in when you come in the room, don't hesitate to say hey. I like to give you guys a shout out and again don't hesitate to share this video with folks, you think would benefit from it and please do give me a thumbs up so that I know that you guys like content like this. Alright. So let's get started so my hair actually started out. This was a an old washing go and I really just didn't feel like doing anything more to my wash and go because sometimes it's like that. So what I did was, I just really like pulled it in a ponytail to get it stretched so that the hair here would be more stretched and lay down more easily. So one of the things I did at night was, I pulled my hair back from my wash and go and I went through it with a brush. I braided it so again, I could stretch the hair, so it wouldn't be quite as curly and then I just went to bed and then I worked on my hair the following morning. So the first thing you want to do is you want to mist your hair. Look at this, you want to mist your hair and I like to use water with aloe vera juice. In it reason I like to do, that is because again it's very dry very bitterly cold here in the winter, and you want to take every opportunity you can to add hydration to your hair. Remember products are not going to add hydration to your hair. It'S not going to do that. Only you're, a liquid will water is the best water infused with herbs or in fruit. Fused with aloe juice is really really beneficial to the hair. So I like to start out just by. I don't want my hair to revert. So I'm just gon na spray, my hair - and you guys have seen me do this before and then I just kind of go through the hair. This way just apply it to my hair with my hands, and then I like to give the ends of sprints, because you know the ends of your hair are really the most fragile parts of your hair because it takes longer from for the water from your body. Like drinking water is really important, because that helps to keep you hydrated and it benefits your hair as well, but it takes longer for that water to work its way to the ends of your hair, just like with the oils on your scalp. It takes longer for those to work its way down to the ends of your hair, so you always want to add water, and you always want to seal it with you know what ever kind of oil your hair likes afterward. So I'm gon na just miss my hair and then one of the other things I like to do is I like to use my Mario but sq, -- y'all know what was coming, because this is just like my booth, so it has herbs in it. It has rosewater in it and it has aloe vera juice in it. So the aloe vera is really important, because aloe vera helps to fill in that moisture. It helps your cuticles to lay down. So you know, if you're looking for ways to add hydration to your hair and then help that cuticle to lay down so that you lock that moisture in then you definitely want to consider adding aloe vera juice to your water or using the handy dandy. Mario Badescu, you can use this on your face. I use it. You know on my skin as you guys know, and then you can also add it to your hair. So I pull my hair back. I would also sort of brush it. I like using these boar hair brushes, so usually it has a soft bristle side and then a stiffer bristle side. I rarely use the side because you guys know I have fine natural hair and you do not want to do things that are going to create too much friction on the hair and the softer side just basically Rose over her. You know the hair, like these bristles Bend, see how easily that bends so they're, very, very soft, so you want to use bristles that are that are pretty soft, and I just use that to lay down the hair that is closest to my scalp. Now I have fine hair, that's low density and it's like. If you look at my curls too hard, they will go straight. I was just you know my hair texture, so you know get your hair and whatever state you feel comfortable. Some women have get those waves in their hair when they brush their hair down. So you can go for that. Look you go for any look that you want. I know what my hair will do. I'M not gon na get waves like that. Unfortunately, so I just try to go for as smooth a look as possible, getting everything into a ponytail as much as possible. Sometimes I'll go through and I will detangle my hair, hey Vanessa, hey girl, I will go in and detangle my hair and I like to use these vincent brushes to do that because it doesn't damage the hair and I prefer to use those on my hair when It is dry, so I just go ahead and I make a ponytail and I'm making my ponytail kind of where I want to see my textured bun lay, so I'm gon na make it a little bit higher. It'S right above kind of the crown of my head here. Alright, so gon na put that there and just use a regular ponytail holder. I use the ponytail holders that do not have the metal clips in them is just fabric on the ponytail holder, and I like to do that because you know the metal catches in the hair and you know you can risk breakage at that point. So now I've done that I've secured my ponytail in place and then the next thing I do is twist it's like disease, just a regular two strand twist, you could put a butter or whatever you want to put on the ends of your hair. I like to go in and just add a little more hydration, because I'm so paranoid about my ends. Either I like to keep it as moist as possible. Again you could use a leave-in conditioner. You can use a butter. You can use a oil whatever you want to kind of seal in that moisture. Am I gon na worry about that really right now, because I'm gon na be taking this down for upcoming video, any way that I'm doing tomorrow, hey Jane? How are you hi and welcome so what I did was I two strands twisted fat and then I created a nice little band tune bantu knot on top of my head. This is what happens when you have fine hair those girls with a nice voluminous hair. They, you know it's a sad life hi there, alright. So now I'm gon na go ahead and I'm going to go ahead and add my curly extensions. Alright. So these extensions are afro kinky at fro, kinky extensions and thereby, I think American hair. You guys have seen them on the channel. I'Ve reviewed them and I did a three strand twist use you know utilizing them. I have not washed or treated them linen since then. So you know, don't drag me in the comments yeah, but this is gon na what it is. So this is the current state and I actually like this texture, so I don't want to wash it because I want it to be a little looser because I know I'm not gon na get a lot of curl here and I feel like it will blend better With this texture than the natural texture of this is much kinkier and it's you know a lot more textured, and that just is not going to go with this. So you want to pick an extension that will look realistic kind of based upon the texture of your own hair, so I'm using the stretched, afro kinky clip-ins. So the first thing I'm going to do is I'm going to put my longest set of extensions in and I'm sorry guys I have to move my mirror. I didn't do that ahead of time, so I have to do that now, and this is just so. I can see what I'm doing now. One of the things I forgot to mention is that you could use gel in your hair. I suggest using a gel that has a moisturizing component, like I like to use this. The Burberry blissed control jelly and the reason I like to use this is because you can use this as a protective style that will last you a longer time. So you want something: that's going to help to keep your hair as moisturized as possible. Hey Kristina! I have some wavy clip-ins and wanted to wear an updo for an event tomorrow, girl. This is perfect timing, so hopeful, perfect timing. I'M glad I decided to do this today, so you know: don't use a gel that is drying to the hair, try to use something! That'S going to have that has oils in it. That is like this particular product. The reason I like it - and I tell you guys all the time - read your product ingredients that was my orientation to natural hair, always read your product ingredients, because you know what that product is going to do for your hair, and you know first five ingredients of The blueberry blitz control jelly are oils, so you have castor oil in here. You have aloe vera juice. In here you have Lourdes, it's all kind of stuff. You have keyed one here. You have some shea butter in here. You have some mango butter. You got argan oil, you know you have primrose oil, you have jojoba oil, so you know that this is going to be hydrating, not hydrating, but it's going to help. You maintain the moisture balance of your hair. So when you're doing a protective style like this, that you're going to keep in for a couple of days, please I suggest for going. You know gels that have that our alcohol Laden and that are not well formulated because, what's going to happen, is it's just going to flake up on your hair? It'S going to dry your hair by the time you take it down. You'Re here may be brittle, so you want to do things that are going to help to elongate the duration that you're able to keep your hair moisturized okay. So I have the clip pins and I'm going to install them. You oh good, for a new cut that I want. Oh, I wonder what kind of cut you gettin girl, I'm really interested, but that's cool. You know what I am just now really getting into extensions like later on in life. When I was younger, I never more extensions, and you know I'm loving all of the flexibility you can have with hair extensions, so they are so cool. So the first thing I'm going to do is I'm just gon na open the clips, the combs on the clips on the ends. Only alright and I'm gon na go ahead and install them, and then, when you install them like normally, you install clip ins. This way right, you go like this way for this style, though you want to do them the opposite way, because you're going to want your your hair and everything else to lay down really really smoothly. So what I'm going to do is I want to do them in the opposite way. So I'm going to place them in my hair like this and I'm just going to put the first comb in and I'm going to get it as close to the pineap -- or to the bantu knot as possible. I'M going to clip that in and then I'm just going to wrap this around my bantu knots wrap it around and then the ends of it I'm going to clip that in so that's what's going to make it secure in the hair okay, so I've installed. My first one and that's what it looks like okay. So now I'm going to go ahead and install my next one. So I'm going to take my next longest clip in and I'm going to go ahead and install that one as well and again, I'm only going to up unclip the ends. So I'm going to take this one and I'm going to just clip it in here. I like to clip them toward the front because then I can kind of I can see things easier: hey, Patrice, hey Faye! Do you have high porosity here? I do not have high porosity hair. My hair porosity is pretty. Average is pretty normal, so it's not low. It'S not high, it's right in the middle okay. So now I'm gon na stick that in so now this is in place and you can see getting some volume. This is cute. You can actually just take some of his hair, like if you wanted to wear it and like a high ponytail like this. This is really cute. You could just take some of his hair and then you just taught me something new. I would have Clips all of the clips. Thank you yeah it. You know what they're easier to remove that way too, but yeah. You could just take this hair and keep it like around the sides. Pin it into place. So then no one sees where the clips are and you could wear. This is just like a high ponytail. Well good! I'M glad you guys learn things in here like I will tell you what, as a fine hair natural, there were not videos for me to watch on YouTube. Everybody had this wonderfully full voluminous hair and they just seemed to like naturally know how to do these styles. So I am happy that I'm able to add you know something to you know to the community cuz. You know I watched a lot of videos, but you know it was like really trial and error when learning how to work with my own hair. So I'm glad that you guys glean some good information from these videos. I'Ve never worn clip-ins before. Are they easy to install super easy? Actually, you can see how I install these when I did a full head of them Vanessa, checkout. You know what I will link I'll link some of those videos when this live video actually uploads to my channel, and then you can see how easy they are like this super easy. This is an amazing idea because I have fine hair, not thick hair thanks for the suits aura, absolutely faith. One of the reasons I did this is because you know I want to do a texture bun, but I can't do a texture, bun cuz. I got malnourished hair. I got five here, so you know you just can't get like you know a voluminous look without a little help. So that's that's! That'S why God made Clippy so now, I'm installing this one and what I'm doing is I'm making sure that I'm keeping the the width of the hair around the band's who've not pretty easy, even front back inside. So that's why I'm strategically placing it so that I get a nice even circle like all the way around. I think that make sense. So now I'm gon na just put this last last, where I'm gon na put this one. I want to put this last one in, and I think I'm just going to put this one in the back and again you want to you're not going to put these in a you know in a downward motion like that, you want to make sure that you Pull it this way, pull it up, because you're going to be wearing pulling this up into the textured bun, and you want everything to lay really really smoothly. So I'm gon na put these last once in and then we're good to go all right. You and that's that all right now, when I first tried to do this, I tried to take the hair and then kind of wrap it around, and you know get this situation together and it was kind of okay. You can do this, like you could just begin wrapping the hair around like if you wanted to do like a textured, you know bun and it could probably be okay, but that technique just didn't work real well for me, so I'm gon na show you guys the Technique, you saw me the technique. I did in the pictures you guys have seen of my texture of mine, alright. So once I did this, i went ahead and i took the ponytail or took the hair pulled it up in a ponytail, and I took another ponytail holder, and then I pulled this together like it was in a in a ponytail like this all right and what This did was this makes it really easy to ensure that you cover up the top of that bantu knot. That was one of the problems I had when I started playing with the hair to try to position it. I felt like you, could see part of my my bantu knot, so what I discovered was, if I put a ponytail holder above the bantu knot, and then I take the hair and I begin to split it. You know like this to then create my texture bud. You will not see any trace of your malnutrition, bantu knot, alright, so the next thing I did was - and you could do this or not, but what I did was. I took a section and I did a very loose two strand twists like so, and then I just began to kind of position it where I wanted. You know the hair to be making sure that I'm pinning right in front of where the the extension is. It'S clipped in because you don't want both clipped in sections to be visible so and then I just began to kind of position the hair, where I wanted it now I like to do the twist I'll mess it because then you can go in and you can Pull the hair apart a little bit and it just creates a nice little sort of you know additional kind of textured. Look when you're pinning the hair in you can leave it twist. It really tight or you can make it a little bit looser. I just find that it's easier to control the hair that way, because it is so much hair. I didn't want to cut my um. I didn't want to cut my extensions because sometimes I I know that I will still want to wear these long, so it was just easier for me to twist it like this. So then I could have control over this hair as I'm pinning it into place. But you could skip that if you want it to it's totally up to you and then you're, just gon na keep pinning and so forth around the base of the hair, so that you know that you have hidden Z clip-ins. So, as you can see in the front you're not seeing any clip-ins and then I'm also meticulous about my bobby pins, I don't let my bobby pins to be visible either. So I hide those then I'm gon na pull this down and pin this into place. So this looks nice and smooth in the front and then I'll continue pitting in the back. I could just hear my boyfriend saying all the things women go through he's like amazed. It really is half the time. Lord, alright. So now I'm gon na take this back section and twist this as well or you could break it into parts. It'S really up to you. It depends on you know how you, when you do buttons, you just have to kind of play it by ear to figure out how you want to position your hair. I think I'm going to pin this one here I can filled at the back of the clip. Is here so I'm going to pin this like that you all right and now you're, just gon na kind of go in and fill out the gaps in to create the shape you want so see. I want that to be more rounded, so I'm going to go in and pin my hair appropriately and then in a little more there you you, so you can easily have a full bun, just like everybody else's. Nobody will know that it isn't yours, because the wonderful thing about these clippings is that the texture you know this is natural hair. This hair itself, it's not synthetic, it is natural hair, and so it reacts the same as natural hair does it looks like natural hair because it is, it has the same tone and it has the same. You know shine or sometimes lack thereof. As regular hair see you hon good night Joanne all right and I'm just going to put one more clip in and I'm done with a clipping part and I'm going to then from there. I'M going to just show you how I lay the edge parts of my hair, you and I can't fully see the back, because I don't have my hand mirror, but you guys get the point you play with it. Just like you would do with creating your own bun, oh my gosh, and one thing: that's really important is to get a good pair of of bobby pins, make sure you get the bobby pins. I like the ones by Annie because they have these rubber sort of ends like at some point I mentioned to you guys. This is in the past at some point, like companies started skimping on this part of the bobby pin. So when that goes away, it's just like metal going against your hair, and then it causes a lot of breakage and things of that nature. So do make sure you get a good pair of or good set of bobby pins when you're working with styles like this, because you don't want to do damage to your hair, alright. So that is it. So that's the texture, bun part that is done, and then the next thing I do is really just about smoothing the hair so to smooth the hair. I know a lot of people like different edge controls. My favorite edge control is the grog annex DHT blocker. I mentioned this in my video the other day. Can you guys see how my hairline is really coming along? It looks. It looks really really good. So I attribute that because I have fine hair, so I've always had a very light sort of hair line and this product, the revita edge product, is supposed to strengthen and smooth your edges. It doesn't have alcohol in it and it doesn't flake up on the hair. It does not flick up on the hair praise, God, cuz. A lot of gels do flake up on the hair um, and so I knew that it laid my edges really really well, but I couldn't believe that it was actually improving my hairline. Thank You Joanna. I'M glad you like a girl, so what I like to do is just I'll. Take a toothbrush, don't judge me, but I think good toothbrush. I go in like that and then I just comb up my hairs that I want to stay. You know in place, and I just comb them all the way up to the bun. You and I mean I'm this stuff. I love because it will actually stay in place until you know you take your hair down, I like to use the blueberry, so the passion fruit control placed is paste as well, but I only like to use those like in this area, because this does not keep My hair in place so using the revita edge product, it's not stiff, it doesn't leave your hair tacky, it doesn't even leave it. Looking like unnaturally, smooth or in place, you know how sometimes people use control paste on their hair, and then you could tell that they used a really strong. You know control paste on their hair. This leaves a very, very natural look. So that's you know another one of the reasons I I prefer to use this, so I just go ahead and put this up and after this I could you know you all know the drill. I could take a scarf and then wrap my hair up, but I just find what the control paste. I don't have to take that extra step, because once I brush it in place it pretty much stays in place. I think if you were trying to do the waves and stuff like that, you definitely want to tie it down because that's how you like lock those waves in place, but you don't have to do that using this product, because it's just that good. So I will put a link to this product in the comments or not in the comments, but in the information section beneath this video once it goes once it post to my youtube channel once this video in so that you can find everything that that I use. But yeah, so that's what I do for that and then I just do like my edges, and you know I play what my I play Widow y'all know, I'm so old, he's 46 years old doing baby hair come on now. This is cute and definitely doing this tomorrow, girl. Yes, you know what take a picture of it cuz. I want to know what it looks like now. I don't have to go to the beauty supply. Okay, that's what I'm saying. Alright, that's what I was saying. Save yourself a trip when you can so I just try to go in is so funny. I'Ve always had these baby hairs and I feel crazy being like a grown woman over grown woman still like combing my baby hairs, but I do think that it gives the hair a nice. You know finished, look and I do like to use this passion, fruit, control, paste win when I do this, so I just kind of go in and I lightly. I don't like the hairs to look unnaturally laid down. I pretty much just comb them in the direction they normally go and just kind of you know add a little bit of a little bit of extra character to them or what have you? But I don't. I don't do too. I don't get too crazy with it. You know it's all to your liking, how you prefer for the edges of your hair, to look totally up to you. You could even pull like some hair down and do the little curly riblets here, I'm gon na be really cute. Oh someone comments. It have you used 22nd century natural women's hair products. I have not faith, I've never even heard of them. You know what, when this video goes live, would you mind putting a link to their products? I'Ve never heard of them. I'M just gon na pull. Some of this hair hair down and then I'll kind of twist it around - I probably have to wet my hair because when I tell you all I just don't have like. Oh my hair is so particular alright. So if I wet it then it'll curl up again, I don't even know if you all can see that a little bit here that I pulled down, but you know you could create little coils here and then you could do it on the other side as well. It'S gon na take my hair a minute to do that, but I always think that's cute. It'S a black-owned, business and Sheehan makes the products it's all natural. Oh that's cool! Yeah! If you don't mind sharing a link to her products. I would not mind you know trying them that would be great or even tagging them in this video once it goes live. That would be awesome too, but yeah I'm not familiar with them. Alright, so I just wet those and they'll coil up and it takes my hair a minute. You all have seen me work with my hair when I did when it washed and goes and stuff like that. So you know it takes a minute for my hair to Quayle up, but that's it. That is it. That is it when I say that this is the easy style to do it's an easy style to do, and then at night all I do is I wrap up at the bottom section of my hair um. I don't have my scarf here, but I have what are the scarfs that kind of stay in place? It doesn't come off of my head at night. I love it. I just wrap my hair using that and then sometimes I'll take like. I have my kingside to spot it and I'll put that over the top just to protect the top of the textured bun, because again this is natural hair. Look at that, isn't it beautiful. It looks just like my hair look at that. Look at that, but yeah. So I'll sometimes put that over top. If I know that I'm not sleeping on a satin pillowcase and then that will be it, that will be it. This is a great hairstyle again, for you know, fall and winter, because it's a protective style. You have your ends, shielded and tucked away. You can wear this style for several days, which means that you don't have to manipulate your hair as often which is always good for the health of your natural hair and for length retention, and then also it doesn't get in the way when you wear those like Little mufflers to protect your ear, so you won't have to worry about going into the office and then having to prep your hair or think about how you're gon na you know, wear your hair, the rest of the day. It'S just a great sort of go-to style. I'Ve been wearing this all week since the first day that I did my did the textured bun, so that is it. I hope you guys liked this video, please don't forget to give me a thumbs up if you learned something new in this video or if you like this style.
