Hi everyone for those who don't know me, my name is cynthia dendiz and today i'm going to be showing you guys how i curl my hair with a wand. If you guys follow me on instagram, you guys know, i am always using a clown curling iron. So i get many requests about doing it with a wand, so here i am i'm going to show you guys how i curl with the wand - and this is going to be a beginner's tutorial on how to curl with the wand as well. If you guys don't know how to curl with the wands, i also have a how to curl with the curling iron, and i also have a how to curl with a flat iron. So i'm just missing the wand and we are doing it today. So i'm going to use the eva nyc wand, this one is a one inch barrel, the bigger the barrel, the bigger the curl, the smaller the barrel, the tighter the curl so go with what you want for your hair. Do you want bigger voluminous curls? Do you want smaller, tighter curls, i'm gon na go with a one inch. It holds the best it's smaller curls, but it holds the best. So for this tutorial i will use a wedge. So when i use a wand, i like to section my hair and go like this. If you want more of an effortless look like beachy, then you can alternate your sections. If you want more of like a glam, pretty fuller look, then you can go all the same direction. I'Ll show you guys how to alternate it. If you want to, i like to take sections as big as the wand, so one inch sections i usually like holding it vertical so up and down versus horizontal. I know some people like to be down here and then wrap around, but then it's like straight and then curls because you're like pushing it down here versus here, you could get a curl all the way from the top and also vertical this way, you get more Of like a longer wave, this way you get more of a chunkier voluminous curl, so it kind of just depends on the look you're going for say i kind of want it to be not so chunky, i'm going to hold it vertical. I like to hold it up and down the handle facing up you're going to hold it. With your right hand, i like to move the cord in back of me so kind of go over your head, like a 90 degree angle over here. Your arm, with your left hand, try to not be so down here, try to be up here, so you can have tension with your hair start at the very top and wrap around the more gaps that you have when you wrap around like in between the looser. It'S going to be the more the less gap the tighter it's going to be. I don't want to hold it for that long, because i don't want my curl to be so tight, so same thing for this one handle up, have a grip. With your left hand, don't be so down here, because then it's going to get floppy around the wand and it's going to keep sliding off. So i like to have a tight grip here and then move it slowly as you wrap around the rod. Move your hand more down to feed more uh hair through the wand and just wrap around. I forgot to mention wrap um over and around so go over the wand first and then around and that's gon na go away from the face. I would suggest starting with that first, but if you want to start alternating, then you are going to do the same thing but you're going to go towards the face so instead of going over and around you're going to go from the back to the front. So not from the front to the back, but from the back to the front and that's going to alternate the wave and that's going to make it go towards your face. But for now i think we'll just stick to going away from the face. As you see my hand is in back of my head, i like to just be in the back over here when i'm doing the back sections and then here i'm more forward, i'm in front of my head here, i'm in the back of my head now. I am at the right side of my head. I am still holding the curling iron on my right and i'm still going to be having my hair on the left hand feeding it through. If you guys are left-handed, then it's probably going to be opposite. So i still am gon na have the handle up and down, but i'm just gon na have it on the outside next, to my face kind of, like this make sure not to burn yourself, don't get too close to your ear start at the top. Your hair will be in front of the wand you're going to wrap over and around i like to tug on it a little bit. So it's not so tight on this side. If you wanted to alternate it same thing, you come from the back and then go to the front and around that's. If you want the hair going towards your face, one of the main things is just having a tight grip up here and then slowly moving your fingers down when you need to. So it's not so flimsy and you have the right amount of tension when you're wrapping around the wand, so it doesn't slip off and try to scoot it up while you wrap, so it's not sagging all the way down and another thing i wanted to show you Guys is, if you feel more comfortable on this side to be horizontal to not be so up and down. You can start off horizontal and keep it this way. If you want a chunkier curl, but if you want a longer curl then just move your hand up. So start like this and then just move your elbow up and it should be more vertical. So that's if it's gon na be easier for you guys to start off horizontal and then just kind of just tilt your elbow up. We have got into the top section. I like to take skinnier sections when i come up top because i do have layers, so i wanted to be like even so over. I know some people like to start lower, but i like to have the curls starting all the way to the top, because they end up falling once. You start brushing it out because i'm going to brush them out they're going to end up falling. So i'd rather have it start from the top. Then have it start here and then end up falling even more so i like to just start all the way at the top make sure you're, starting at the top of the wand too, and at the root of your hair and just really get up there. Unless you have really short hair, really short layers um, then this might not work because they don't quite jump up a lot. So these front sections, if your front sections are as long as your hair do the same thing, but i do like to start a little lower for my bangs, because i like the little bend to be around my eye area. I just think it opens up my face like that, so i like to start here a little lower and then lightly wrap around like this is going to be a lot lighter than this one and the front pieces are the most important. So i like to keep it very soft. If i need to re-curl it, i do if you had a shorter bangs. Just literally like go like this like a little bend around that that eye area, i have medium-sized veins, so i'm going to start around the eye area wrap around and then once i feel like it's pretty heated, i let go. I don't want it to be too curly, so, as you can see, it starts lower start around the eye area, be careful with your face, wrap around and then i i kind of pulled it right away because i felt like it was too curly. So i'm done. Do you guys, like just kidding, i'm not done um, then you shake it out. I mean you could leave it like this no shade, but if your hair falls throughout the day, then leave it like this. Let it fall throughout the day. Mine just stays. So i do not want to look like this throughout the day, so i'm going to brush it out, i'm going to start at the bottom and then work my way up and you see how i started at the top, but the curls already fell, which is fine Because i don't like the curls at the top, but i know if i don't start at the top it it just gon na fall, so they already fell work where i like it to be, and then i like to shake and really open up these curls and Just kind of shake it mess it up flip it around like i like to just make it seem a lot more effortless like this is already a lot better for me, but if it's too tight don't be afraid to mess it up with some texture spray, some Hairspray so now i got the curls where i want it to be they're a little on the tighter side, but they fall beautifully. Is that a word they fall nicely throughout the day, so i'm gon na use pureology soft, finishing hairspray and it just adds a nice soft flexible hold to my hair, so yeah. I hope you guys like this tutorial on how i curl my hair with a wand. Let me know if there's anything that you guys like to see and like and subscribe, and i will see you guys next time,
