Hair Extensions: www.perfectlocks.com

Hey everyone, its Lauren from beauty, lowdown and today I wanted to talk about keratin, fusionbond, hair extensions. That'S quite a mouthful! Yesterday I got my extensions maintenance and so today I thought I would just do a tutorial answering for some questions. I had a really hard time at the beginning, when I was looking into getting these extensions more about them. There weren't a lot of YouTube tutorials on them or some of the questions I wanted to know, weren't being answered, and especially for curly hair. I have naturally curly hair and I wanted extensions and there wasn't a lot of information. So today that's what I kind of wanted to address and let you know so, as you can see, my hair is humongous today. That'S because I just wanted to let it go. Um, let you see what it looks like. Usually I'll pin it back in some way, um I'll, straighten it and just do more of a loose wave, but I just wanted to show what it looks like just after I get out of the shower with my natural curly hair as well. So, first so I'll. Just let you see it um you mungus, it's quite long. I got the 22 lengths, I believe, and this is after cutting it and layering it. So next time I'm probably gon na go with the 18 inches, I'm just because it's more manageable looks more real. Don'T look like the mermaid, so keratin Bond, hair extensions? If you don't know what they are, is using heat to fuse the extensions to your hair, exactly what it sounds like keratin fusion. So, as you can see up here, there's a little hard piece kind of like a shoelace on that is bondage to my hair, using heat, and this is one that fell out a little bit ago, um. So, as you can see, the top is like a little shoelace hard like that, and then you have the hair. So they come like this and you bring them to the stylist and they just take piece by piece and use them to your natural hair. So keratin is what your hair is naturally made out of so you're, basically fusing the protein that your hair is nice to get out of to your hair. So they use a clamp and a little keratin bead and they put that on your hair and use a heat, clamp to clamp it, and then they will twist so once they clamped it they'll twist it like this, so that it will bond with your hair. So a lot of common questions I get asked is: is it harmful to your hair? In my experience? No, it's not if you have healthy hair to begin with, and it's not really broken and damaged. That'S, I think what makes the difference. So if your hair is healthy and you do this - it really doesn't break it. Yesterday my stylist went in and used keratin solution, keratin Bonz solution to get it out. It'S a remover, it's, I think, basically acetone, which is like nail polish remover, and she put it on my hair and just kind of broke it up with some pliers and then brushed it out. So my natural hair, it was left on altered. It wasn't broken in any way and she just moved the bond up, so it wasn't damaged um a lot of people. I hear say that oh my gosh, I got my extensions out and I lost so much hair. I hair so much thinner. It totally ruined my hair, but what happens with that? Is that you're so used to having this thick mane of hair. I mean this is a lot of hair. Definitely not what I started with. I did have thick hair to begin with, but once you lose this, you don't remember what it's like to have your normal natural hair. So you might be under the impression that oh, my gosh, I lost all this hair. It totally ruined it when really you're. Just going to back to what you normally had and you're not used to it also, you might you lose quite a bit of hair in the removal process, just because the hair you would we've shed on a daily basis, isn't beginning allowed to shed. So, usually you know if you take a shower, you brush your hair. Some strands are coming out. We lose hair during the day like a hundred strands. That'S just how it goes as a new hair is growing, but when you have, the extensions in the bond is keeping all of that hair from falling out. Naturally, so it's just essentially being held in here. So when you do get your hair bonds removed or hair extensions removed, all that hair that's been accumulating over the months that you've had the hair in is finally coming out, so it looks like maybe you're losing a lot of hair, so I wouldn't be too worried About that um I wash it like, I would my normal hair. The only thing is, you want to be really careful because up here where it starts growing out, it can get tangled. Sometimes so you don't want to be like scrubbing your shampoo, like you normally. Would you just kind of want to Pat it on and kind of just give it a little wiggle and just let it run down your hair, so you're not tangling it up. That'S a problem that you might run into you want to be gentle with your hair. Also, don't be too rough with it, because you want these to last so for haircare I just use a shampoo that is sulfate free, that's not too harsh on your hair. I would go for a salon. Quality hair, invest the money. You paid a lot of money for these extensions. You probably want to take care of them for brushing and you get a loop brush. So as you can see, they're little loops they're, not like a normal brush. That has just a straight line and a little ball at the end, so this is not going to get caught in that extension. So when you brush it, it's it's just not going to get tangled, which is really nice, so you can get these at Sally's. I got it for like five dollars and again you want to have one hold like if you had long hair here and then brush the ends like this, so you're, not just tugging and pulling another question I get, is how much does it cost? Well, it really depends on where you go. What you want, how much you want put in there a lot of variables. I'Ve heard it can range anywhere from 500 to 1,500 dollars. So it's really quite a range you'll want to schedule a consultation with a hairstylist to really see you know what you want and how much it's going to cost. So I got about 200 of these put in and that's a lot next time I will probably go with 1500, maybe even a hundred and fifteen hundred sorry one hundred and fifty or one hundred and twenty-five, you can go with less strands when you have curly hair Because it has a lot more volume, if you're going if you have straight hair or putting in and you want, might want to do two hundred strands. Like I said next time with my curly hair, I will probably go with 150 125. Depending on what volume you want, you know this is a lot of hair. Some people might not want this much hair. So a lot to take care of it's very hot takes a lot to dry. So that brings me to styling as well expect to triple your styling time. My hair is already quite thick naturally, but adding all of this. It really takes time to style, especially if I'm going to straighten it. It takes quite a long time so just keep that in mind that it's gon na take a little bit longer. Where I got my extensions was on line at perfect, locs calm. I will link that in the description box below it's really quality hair. You want to get remy hair, which means it's virgin hair. It hasn't been processed or dyed in any way. Mine, of course, is curled, so it hasn't processed in way. Naturally, remy hair is straight, and I got indian remy hair. You can get different hair types depending on what you're looking for. I would look into the different ethnic origins of the hair Indian ears a little bit more thick. So if you have really fine hair, you might want to go with European hair. It might be a match more with your natural hair type, so these are different things to research and, of course, if you want curly wavy one it died, I would definitely buy the hair dyed or you can dye it yourself, but diet before to match your hair Before you get it put in, you want to do that, just because it's harder to do what you have it in your hair because of the keratin bones. Overall, I really like this hair. I probably would next time not get it in the summer, because it's crazy, hot and and it was wearing it up most of the time, but I really like it. I think it was a great investment and as far as maintenance goes, you know, every two months is a good idea to get it maintenance, which means you just get. The balls moved up any security that have been loose or fallen out. If you don't do this, your hair will get quite tangled and it just won't look good. My hair, I noticed just today, looks so much better than it did yesterday, even just after two months. So if you, you really want to take care of it and that's the best way to do it is just to get it maintenance. So again I really like it. I can wear it up and you can see the bonds don't show. Sometimes they do like you'll pick out, but I can just tuck it in um. I can't really pull my hair back like this, because you can see all of them right there, but your styles are a little bit more limited, but not too much that it's not worth it. So I hope I answered all of the questions. These are most of the questions that I had about the hair in the beginning. If you have any more questions that you were liking any answer, I can do that. Just leave them in the comment box below and let me know, and I'll do my best to get to them. Simderella: Hey Lauren :) Just a quick question. My hair consistency matches yours almost exactly. I love to wear my hair natural, but also straight! After I straighten the curly extensions, I'd want to wear them curly again. So, after a shower, will they go back to that curly style? Or will they stay straight? Thanks so much !

BeautyLoDown: I purchased the colored curly pre-bonded hair. And yes, I heat styled my hair very often. It straightens well and in my other videos I usually straightned it and then put in loose curls with a curling iron :) Hope this helps!

BeautyLoDown: I just took mine out and my hair is still very healthy! I didn't have any breakage of my natural hair. It did seem a lot thinner but it's just because I was so used to how thick it was with my extensions :) Good luck!

Lisa: Thank you so much for this video I'm going with the perfect locks curly fusion styled extension and I wanted more information ESPECIALLY what they looked like in and this is PERFECT! They're beautiful and I'm soo excited now! My only question is I'm torn between the i tip or u tip....i do not want to install the i-tips with the micro beads so my first question would be where did you purchase the keratin glue/bond to attach the i-tips? Also have you ever used the u-tip styled before just curious because I'm leaning more towards this just because the glue/bond is already there per say.....hope to hear from you soon!!!

dirtyDprincess: hi, thanks for the video! did you purchase the virgin curly pre-bonded hair or the colored curly pre-bonded hair from the perfectlocks? also, do you heat style the hair in your more recent videos (i noticed that your hair is not as curly), assuming you still have the extensions in...:) thanks:)

Leona X: such a helpful video, i have had my extensions in 3 months and i do find they are starting to get matted at the roots! shall now be booking in with my stylist for a little tlc :)

Amanda Rico, Ph.D.: Hello! This is SO helpful as I have these style hair extensions and it is nearly impossible to find info on them. I have a few questions for the curly extension maintenance. Which shampoo & conditioner do you use? I found using too much conditioner makes them gross even though the curly hair is drier and needs moisture. Do you use any other styling products to define the curls to make them frizz-free and defined? Thank you! :)

Leanna: Loved this video, can you do one on washing and styling with your curly extensions?!

Melody Patterson: great video...getting my first set of fusions on Tuesday :)

monique verdin: Did you use the same bonds when having them maintenanced or do you have to use new ones?

BeautyLoDown: Oh thank you! I will definitely do that :)

Lisa Rado: I just got 20 in hair Keratin hair extensions put in. It's been almost 2 weeks and the ends are starting to look frayed. I use leave-in conditioner, a loop brush, I wear a satin cap at night, I brush my hair at least 3 times a day. I think I'm doing something wrong but not sure what it is. Any ideas?

BeautyLoDown: Thank you! Check out my other videos! I'd love to hear your feedback :)

BeautyLoDown: Great! I'm glad it helped :) Mine do shed, unfortunately. But not so bad that I don't have any hair left! haha.

BeautyLoDown: All of the info including a link is in the video and the description box below :) Thanks for watching! :)

Alexis Agidee: So how much do they charge to apply them?

Jennifer Reynoso: Very informative!

BeautyLoDown: Yes! you have to be more careful when shampooing.. not to tangle the hair. So just be more gentle is all. I haven't tried a french braid before but I'm thinking the bonds might show a bit. Hope this helps :)

MyLuxury1st Hair, Pigments, and Apparel: If you would be interested in reviewing some U tip hair extension streaks, please let me know; I'd love to sponsor your streaks!

Ayesha Mcgee: I'm really interested in getting this. But I'm really worried that if you split in down the middle to bring the hair forward that the bonds will show. Will it?

Danisha Castanon: beautylodown where did you get the curly hair extensions? or they came straight?

Alexia Fisher: What is your hair length before the extentions?

mickiela montoya: This comment is unrelated I wasn't able to comment on your juvederm video, but thank you for sharing it and I thought it was so funny you said you pass out after any medical procedures. I'm the Exact same way! I never met anyone else who was like that, so I feel your pain! Lol and thank you for this. And thank you for this video also :)

Sarcasm Queenn: I love you for this . Thank you ..lol been looking for someome who has these and actually says where they got them and everything. ..DO THEY SHED or anything thankss

Esme: I just got keratin hair extensions a week ago. Im a nervous person. So now im all worried my natural hair will be broken by where the keratin bond is at. I don't want to be bald lol :( But I don't want to take them off I payed a lot for them since ive always had curly hair but since I straight mine a lot and I was tired of my hair looking very fine (I don't have a lot of hair) I wanted more volume and it looks beautiful

Sabrina Cascello: Where did you buy the curly hair extensions I can't find any anywhere !!! Help!!

Esme: You plan to get them again? My friend says once you get them once you will get addicted to them. :P by the way your hair looks amazing

Patricia Allen: how many packs did you buy? I see there are 25 stands in a pack from that company.

mickiela montoya: I got over the passing out by the military lol good luck with it and it's nice to know I'm not the only one lol

BeautyLoDown: Yes, unfortunately they do show if you're not careful. If you leave it loose and not tightly pulled back it is do-able :)

warhol1992: thank you thank you thank you for this video I have curly hair and nobody has any videos up of ext with naturally curly hair!

Ashley Canas: Did you get curly or wavy Indian remy?

Elika's Sketchbook: how long did u have them? (:

BeautyLoDown: I got curly Indian remy :)

Kimberly Santiago: How long do they last ??

Sadie Robinson: Are you able to put your hair up with these?

Lexie Dye: Thank you!!!

JayJay 2497: Do you think russian or indian remy hair is better?

Mane Gt: Good imformacion!!!!

olivia degale: your so pretty nice review :)

BeautyLoDown: I'm not sure. I haven't tried Russian hair. I think it depends on the how thick the individual strands of your hair are. I know Indian is more course. Not sure about Russian.

MyLuxury1st Hair, Pigments, and Apparel: Those are super thick!
