Okay, you guys today's video is going to be so so fun we are taking someone who is a level three to a lighter color are all of our goal is to be like a tiny blond eventually, but we are going to take it slow because we want Her here to stay healthy, so today we're just going to start with the light foils balayage, I'm going to show you my technique for the first session going blonde. So if you were interested in watching this stay tuned, okay, so we are going to be using Paul Mitchell's synchro lifts. Today. I'Ve been on this kick of trying new light nerves. Every time I go to the beauty supply, and this is the lightener of the week. I really like it has a good left. It swells a little more than I would like, but it has been pretty good and I'm going to be mixing that with 30 volume, just because her hair is really dark and I want as much lift as possible. But I still want to keep the integrity of her hair intact. So I get asked this question all the time and people always ask me: do you balayage hair and the answer is honestly? No, I don't balayage, I don't freehand paint and I kind of like those looks are going out of style anyway, not necessarily the looks, but maybe the technique, because, if you think about it, a lot of people want really blond. Balayage is right, but you can't get the really blond results just from doing freehand or open-air painting. So I always do foil work, but I can get the look of a balayage with my foils, so I'm going to be doing what I call a teased baby light. Balayage, so I'm going to be doing teased, sections and weaving those and then putting them into a foil. So you can watch my pattern here. I do two foils in the center and then two on each side of the head, and I just continue that pattern of the back of her head and even though my client eventually wants to be blonde, I don't necessarily go in and do a full head of Highlights or baby lights right off the bat? I do this technique because it evens out our canvas. It lets me see how she's going to lift, and it gives me an idea of where to go from there. So that's the reason I do this technique is because it starts it out, really subtle, really soft, but it also gives me a direction of where we're going to go for her next session and if you have a hairdresser who's going to tell you that you can Get platinum blonde level, 10 hair from this level, one run the other direction, because the way to do it is slow and healthy me and her both know that this process could be six months to a year and we're going to do it the right way, so That she can keep her long gorgeous hair and that's the way it should be done. Everyone'S hair lifts differently, so some people may get blown quicker than others, but it's always important to take it slow and steady, because in the end it's going to be much better to have long, healthy hair. That'S the right color! Then the right color! That'S on the floor because it's damaged because to get us back on now, can we try. So I have just been continuing that same pattern up the back of the head and we are getting a little closer to the top now, but it has basically just been two foils in the middle two foils on the left, two foils on the right and those Left and right sides are on engels, which has been helpful because, with the shape of the head, it's really hard just to do straight partings, and this is going to make it fall a little more naturally and make it look a little more sunkissed. And then you guys can see right there that I always put my product on the foil and then I set her up backwards and that's what gives me a really nice blend without any harsh lines, and I just had to shout out these from our files. I literally couldn't do my job without them, especially with colors like this. They are a little sturdier, not as flimsy, and they give you a nice sturdy base to work on and they're, also very breathable and very movable they're, just amazing comfortable for me and my clients. So I highly recommend them. I can't use anything else. Okay, now in the front I sectioned off her hairline area, and then I do do a few foils above the ear just to establish where we're going to start the highlights and then I'm going to work around the hairline, and I call this the headband area. This is where we're gon na bring it up a little higher. Do it a little brighter because I switch it up for each client with the money piece and sometimes I do two to three baby lights back-to-back just heavily foiled, so that it's a little stronger, sometimes I'll do one or two slices. It honestly just depends on the hair if they don't like a really strong mini piece. I'Ll just do the baby lights, but if they want to see definition in the hairline, I will do a slice and it also depends on the integrity and the health of their hair if they have really fragile, broken pieces around their hairline. I'M not going to do slicing for her hair's pretty long, so we were able to do one slice in the front and then, after that I just continued with baby lights. I throw it now. We never forget cuz what we got. She is lifting pretty well, as you can see here, she's definitely holding onto those orange e red tones, but we do have a pretty even lift. So I'm happy about that. At the pole, I decided to route smudge her with a 6n 60 and I feathered that through the mid shaft, because it was a little warmer and then through her ends. I am using 7 p, 7 + b8, the + 8 n, and this is going to give me a nice combination of neutrals and ash tones to give me a nice baby blond on the cooler side. Just because her hair is so warm and I want to give her an ashy or toner so that, as it fades out, it's not going to be as warm as she naturally wants to be, because her hair is very dark and we're going to be getting. Those warm tones as she fades out, so we are just going to be doing this toner, I'm just spreading it all throughout her hair, and I left it on about 15 minutes.

Anna Manning: I love seeing dark hair videos! This turned out so pretty

sydney gorton: i love this!! please please please record each session with her so we can follow the blonde journey together!

Sarah Butch: I wish I could show my customers this video! Had someone say that I “make my customers come in multiple times when going blonde so I can make as much money off them as possible” NO! It’s important to go slow and steady so you don’t have fried, brittle, short blonde hair

Bri Ana: I love this! I live my dark hair but I want a bit of demension but I always see people go too light and too many highlights. I love this!

Erin Melkonian Mars: So pretty! The brunette to blonde videos are my absolute favs! I'm in the same process right now! ♡

FANOLA: The highlights are beautiful! Adds a nice pop of color to her dark hair

IamFinley: Your tips have helped me immensely. I have gotten 8 blonding new clients from referrals this month since watching your videos. Thank you so much

NikkiCole: Very pretty & natural! I’m a stylist as well with super dark hair - I need to find time to get mine done like this!

Brittney Hagerman: Love this! Please record her sessions so we can see the process !

Jeanette P: You did an amazing job! This is exactly how I want my hair

lushpaw: looks gorgeous with just the right amount of color lift to give definition instead of it being flat. there is beauty in subtlety.

BasicBethel: can't wait to go on this hair journey of lightening dark hair on this client!

Joan Gentile: Absolutely beautiful!! Thank you!!

Vana V. Jackson: I love this look. Very subtle highlights. I got a balayage done and I hate it. I told the stylist that I didn’t want my natural black hair to get lost in the brown highlights and that’s exactly what happened. My entire head looks brown. Now I have to go back to see if they can add more dark pieces.

julieann legge: Fabulous video. Love your work jessi very talented!!!

stephanie syckle: Great video..i learned alot...please continue to record the process of her going blonde. Im a new stylist an would love to see the full process in the steps you take to get her the blonde she wants❤

Ashli K. Beauty, LLC: Love seeing variations in Client hair color! You’re such a professional! Do you think taking slightly less finer weaves would have made it a little brighter and visible? Or maybe the 6 kind of darkened it a bit? Still very soft and natural looking! ❤️

Courtney B: I feel the same way as you about the techniques. I have never been one to just paint it on the hair without some sort of separator or heat conductor. I'm a blonde specialist so most my clients want BLONDE. But even when I'm adding caramel highlights I still use foil with lower developer. The looks are the same but we have strengthened the technique! :-)

Jessica Peace: I love that you do it realisticly!

Sarah Delgado Lopez: Who else bets she paid a couple hundred dollars for this to look almost exactly the same.

Bizzy: Jessi, on average how long does it take you to put the foils in for a full head of highlights or this balayage?

Leniyems Victorero: I am professional hair stylist and Cuban and I believe you could had pulled that color lighter without damaging it

TheFriedRiceChicken: Beautiful work! Did your client have virgin hair? I also love trying different lighteners and I was impressed with the Swarzkopf blondme. My client was able to go from level 2 to level 8 in 40 minutes with no heat. I was shook lol.

Jess Vela: Love!! I like that you use fouls instead of freehand painting. Makes way more sense to me with the same result!

isabella vaughn: Love SynchroLift!! I go to Paul Mitchell and we used Synchro & 10 to make me platinum. It didn't damage my hair at all

pran: Love the colour! It's so satisfying.

theworldisamess1: I legit want this, its nothing super drastic but enough to notice a difference, adding dimension to dark hair, i love!

Lucas Official: Lovely, nice & subtle & so shiny ❤️

Yvonne Emily: thank you for the brunette tutorial!

Bloggers and Vloggers: I actually like how subtle thue is as she has a gorgeous base colour.

xxcarolxannexx: I use 7 vol on my sister who’s a level 2 in foils. I can get her to a level 9 in 40-45 minutes. I have never used 30 vol. I’m just wondering what your reasons were and if and when I can use 30 vol? I usually never go higher than 7 or 20 at most.

Kristal Mann: I love this video! I love ALL of your videos! I’m 2 months out of school and wondering when do you comb out the back comb and do you have any tricks for that? Also where did you get that board?! You changed my life showing me how to use the board around nape and above the ears! I wish I could work with you!

Alex Leatherman: Awesome. If you have med to deeper brown or black hair you know how even a little color changes every appointment going forward.

Autumn Parker: What formula did you use on your hair? It’s gorgeous!

Christina Marie: I absolutely adore you and your channel but this doesn't look any much different than the beginning. I know going super blonde really fast is scary but you also don't want to be too cautious.

molly herman: SOOO pretty!!

Neena Gurll: Looks beautiful and natural

Its Laurennn: Now I feel qualified to do my own hair

AW: Ugh makes me wanna go dark for again I love brunette hair but I can never get that true brown that I love

Hannah Alexander: If you could, I would love to see you take someone from a level 5-6 red to blonde.

MAHİR ELİFNUR: Wooow it's wonderful work, that's what I want not so blond but glossy and shiny.

Lia De Fazio: How do you get a chocolate brown colour? What numbers do you suggest? I usually cover my hair with a level 5 and it’s a dark brown. Thanks

Kristie Show: So if im a level 3 and i want sandy blonde highlights whats my best route? I havent put any dye in my hair in over 10 years. I have very thick hair.

Kelly Elliott: what about a face framing balayage or highlight on dark hair for someone that just wants dimension round the face and not wanting to go blonde

Sahar Glam: Do you just rub the colour in for toning

Rylee Witherspoon: How do you decide what toner combination you are going to use? Is it just trial and error?

Cliff Harley: Try dual purpose lightener by Paul Mitchell! Lifts and works so much better !

Ansley’s Adventures: It looks no different!!! I would have been pissed if I paid for no change

Daisy Bautista: Love it

ana: girl I have BLACK BLACK hair like it’s so dark but... I managed to get highlights in one go without damage. This looks the same

Maria Gaytan: I like ur techniques ❤️ it

Amerika Garcia: looks almost the same before n after

Amy D: I hope that beautiful girl changed her mind and didn’t try to go blonde. My guess is it will wash her out and take away from those gorgeous features she has. Man YOU ARE THE BOMB LADY!!

Tavares Family: Can you do a full Salon walk-through

Test1 \test2: Not true. Guy Tang has a new hand drawn technique with amazing results that looks fresh and not outdated in the least!

Megan Williams: LOVE LOVE LOVE !!!! You always kill it!!! I don’t care for the clay open air lighteners either ! I like foilage.. what brush are you using here ? Do you have any fav brushes

Eric Carroll: i used to be a darker blonde and when i was 19 I dyed my hair black it was dark.... anyways now that I am getting older I feel like I want to go lighter because I am getting premature greys ALOT of them and i am only 32! I have been trying to let me hair grow out but the look of that is horrifying to me. So what do you think I should do? Pls let me know something cause it is driving me crazy

Savitri Rampersad: I am a hair stylist, good job , but applying the toner you towel dry the hair first.

Chloe: Stop shaking your hair so I can actually see what it looks like.

Beleza: I just started messing with shades more. I'm sort of doing this with a lady but she has very gray outgrowth. Dose shades cover gray?

Annie G: New Salon tour please!!!

Yesenia Solis: Nice job

Annie Fleet: All that work and foils and it doesnt even look that different, I was expecting way more color then that.

Danielle R: Great video! What kind of scale do you have?

Gracie Shepard to the Max: Good thing to wake up to!!

Classicgirl: But what if I want ash blonde light highlights??

クロエ: Wtf how did you do that ??? If I do that with 30 developers my hair is already super orange/blonde...I want to do blue undertones to my cousin s hair (black asian hair) but isn’t 30 volume too much ? I thought about using only 10 developer

00 00: Her hair looks darker than a level 3. It's almost black.

Julie Reiger: If my hair is that color brown and I have about an inch and a half of gray at my root and I want my crown highlighted how should I do it?? Would u fill in my roots to the brown color rinse dry then add my crown highlights?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

louiethemouseful: are these highlights or a balayage?

analyse c: Looks the same to me lol

Anya Hallow: Makes me cringe every time you pinch and crease those foils so tight lol!!! But lovely results

c90 1: Does anyone know why she back combs the hair? Am curious lol x

Aurora Watson: When do you come to Denver? Amazing job!

sharee wert: Sorry for me i do not see not enough colour difference to warrant damage to hair. It just looks like someone just lit 200 dollars on fire.

MsMusikaddicted: The customer is so pretty!

klaudie HORVATHOVA: Thats what i want i know how to do hair on other poeple but my self no way does anyone know a good place in the uk ???

Kat: I love your videos, but a constructive critic is maybe considering using less intense music. I feel like it would feel more professional, and pleasant to watch, if you used music without singing. Hearing the same chorus over and over after each time you speak is kind of annoying and distracts from the wonderful information you are giving. Especially with this guy whaling away, it is takes away from the video a bit.

Dante Velasquez: Nice. Is she a natural level 3 and was that virgin hair?

emilywinters: How do you brush out the tease? Do you do it before you get the hair wet or after? And what type of brush/comb do you use?

cee: Well I have BLACK

Hturt Yada: You sound like Khloe K

ashsqx324: Too subtle. You can get same effect using box dye golden brown

Anya Hallow: Stop creasing the damn foils so tight

Leyla Boom: I don't see any highlights

Laryssa Lima: No difference at all

Bella: I don't see any highlights

Tracy D: Did you mix the shades eq with a developer? I swear sometimes I see toners not being mixed with developers. Am I crazy?

Style67: I have a client who is a natural level 3/4. The past few times she has wanted to go darker & we just did her hair again. I used SEQ 1B and 3N. She wants to go blonde in June. I explained to her that it will take consistent sessions to achieve this & we have to do it slowly. She understands this. How would u approach the 1st session? Since she has seq in her hair, do I need to use a color extractor 1st?
