So hi you guys welcome back to my channel. So, as you know, i have been putting out some jessicated videos over the last few months and i have a few more to show you guys and this one is definitely a few months old and you'll probably know that, because it is taking my sister dark and If you follow us on instagram, you know that this was a few months ago and she's actually blonde again already, but you'll see why we use demi permanents in this video, because then it's easier to go lighter again when they are ready. So i wanted to show you the process of how you would take a platinum blonde to a chocolatey gorgeous brown. I loved this color on her. It was so beautiful and we did go back a little bit slower um. You guys already saw on my channel how we took her um to bronze and then a little bit lighter, and then she went pink. So this is the initial um going dark video and i thought you guys could still benefit from it because there's a lot of good tips and tricks in here. So let me know your thoughts in the comments below and let me know if you like her better dark or blonde hi. You guys welcome back to jessica did. I am really excited for today's video because my sister here, who is about a level 10, you guys have seen us, do like platinum, icy white blonde on her, for so long is going darker. So today's video is going to be all about how to fill blonde hair, get that really rich beautiful brunette tone without it being too red or too muddy. I feel like a lot of times in beauty school. We don't really learn how to tone or to fill properly, so i really wanted to do a hands-on video showcasing how to do this properly. So, if you guys are wanting to watch this then stay right there because we're going to get started. Okay, you guys it is now time to mix up as i'm doing this, i'm going to explain each step and why i'm doing it so we're going to have three different formulations for her today. The first one is going to be a base. Color. You saw that she has some natural regrowth, that's about a level six seven. She is getting a little bit darker as she gets older, and we actually noticed today that she has a little more depth in her natural regrowth than she normally does. So we are going to be treating that separately. What we're going to be doing is a redken shades 5n and i'm going to use it with 10 volume, so it has a little more grip to it. I feel like using it with 10 just helps it stay. A little bit better and makes it more of a permanent result without really being permanent, so i'm going to be doing that on her face, since she already has a really good base color - and i want the 5n to be our dominant tone up there. I don't need to add in any warmth, because she is a level six seven and we're not having to fill that hair. So that's what we're going to mix up on our base and i am going to do equal parts of the 5n and the 10 volume. I am just using a generic 10 volume and you could use like a redkin 10 volume that would work great but honestly for stuff like this, i just keep generic developers in pretty much all of them, like 10, 20. 30, just in case i ever need them, and they are perfect for things like this and when i do all of her colors or roots like this. I always like to use the framer big daddy brush. It covers so much space at once and it has really flexible bristles. So i feel like it kind of blends as i go, and i feel like i'm able to do colors very quickly with this brush. Okay. So now it's time to mix up our filler. So we are going to be applying that 10 volume with the 5n on her base and then all of the blonde hair. That'S on the mids to ends. We are going to be filling with this, while the base processes and then after we're, going to apply the final result over that red. So it's going to look kind of funny because she's going to have the 5n red pretty much ends and then we're going to go through and do the final color. But you have to do it this way, because, when you're so blonde, that hair essentially has no pigment in it and you're going down a lot of levels. So you have to get all of those missing tones. So if we were just to put a 5n on her right now, it would look muddy, green and transparent, and it would also fade out really quickly because there's nothing there to hold on to so. What we're going to be doing is filling in all of the missing levels and the undertones that each of those levels have so, for example, she's sitting at about a level 10 right now, so there's essentially no pigment we're going down to a level five. So that's five levels that we're skipping down: that we need to go in and fill so i'm going to be using levels, nine, eight, seven and six. So that way, all of the levels that we're skipping over are going to be incorporated back into the hair. Give that hair pigment and light so we can get the best final result. So what i'm going to be doing first is redken. 9Gi, that's going to give us a little bit of the warmth. This is a gold iridescent tone and that's what we're missing from the level. Nine then in level, eight we're doing eight wg. This has a lot of yellow in it and that's what we're missing from the level eight then we're gon na go down to level seven and i'm going to be doing two different things. The first one is 7gb and the second one is 7cc. I know this can sound scary because that's literally straight copper, but you have to put red gold yellow orange. All of those tones need to be put back into the hair and it's not going to turn your client's hair red at the end. Yes, it might during the process, so it kind of freaks them out. Let them know that's normal, but if we didn't do that, the hair would be green, and so we have the gb, which was a golden beige, the cc, which is copper. Now i'm going to level six, which is the wg. That 6wg is honestly so great, because it has a lot of warm and gold tones and then i'm also doing a 6cb, which is a copper brown and these tones. All together are going to give me red, orange and yellow, which are the three toms that we are missing and by putting all of this back into the hair, we're going to have a really pretty gorgeous chocolate brown. So i have that at about 80 milliliters and i am just going to match it up. So it's equal parts. Okay, so now we have our two starting formulas: mixed up. We are going to go apply these at the chair and then the very last step will be applied at the bowl. All right, you guys so to start. I just have her parted down the middle. She typically parts here. I would recommend when doing this going off of their natural part, just so that everything's, where it needs to be so since she parts in the middle. That'S what we're doing - and i am just going to take two quadrants and we are going to start with the root when going dark and using color like this, it's important to use a barrier cream, i'm going to use for mars dye defender just so i don't Stain her skin, you want to make sure that you get this on her skin, but not too much in the hair, because if you get it in the hair too much it's going to create a barrier on the hair and it won't take the color as well. So try to make sure you're just getting this on the skin. Okay, so now that that barrier cream is on i'm going to take this first quadrant and i like to pull all the hair up this way, it brings that hairline up really tight and i can accurately go through and do that hairline. So i'm keeping really good tension on that and i am just brushing this on and you can see that i'm just touching where her natural regrowth is, of course it might go into the blonde a little bit, but it's just being feathered in and then i, of Course will go over that with our filler, so it doesn't matter a ton, but i'm just touching the regrowth not dragging it down, and this is going to give the regrowth depth and give us that end result we're going for up there. You can see how me holding tension is making it really easy to have a clean application, and you want to do the same thing in the back. So i'm going to have her look down, so i can go over the regrowth and in the back she does have regrowth going deeper down quite a bit since we haven't done a full highlight in a while. So, wherever the dark comes down further, i will drag this base color down with it and when i do the other side i'll flip it around, so you guys can see the back, and i can show you what i mean so now, i'm just going to take It section by section starting at the bottom and i'm just going to go through with this 5n, and you want to make sure when you're doing this saturation is key. So smaller sections are better because if you do a section, that's too thick you're not going to be able to saturate accurately. So you want to just make sure that you're getting every little piece of hair right here and you guys can kind of see right here that she is darker further down in the back. So when i'm in these sections, i'm bringing that down further to richen. All of that up and then you'll notice, that when i get closer up to the top of the head, i won't be going down as far because the blondes higher up alright. So i have the root applied on this side. Just know when you're doing this process, you could get color on the ends that did happen here since we're doing all dark. It doesn't really matter, but if you were doing like a root shadow on blonde hair, you'd want to make sure you had a barrier like olaplex, so that doesn't happen. So i have that side. All done i'm going to flip her around and i'm going to show you guys how i do this side and then we are going to let this process about 25 minutes total. But i don't want the filler to process that long. So what we're going to do is we're going to let this process about 15 to 20 minutes and then i'm going to put the filler on for the last 10 minutes just so that we get that pigment in there, but it doesn't penetrate so deeply. Okay! So now that i'm going on this side, i outlined her hairline and then you guys can see what i was talking about her hair's a lot darker back here, so i can bring it further back when i'm doing it right here and then up here. I just stay towards the top and then i'm going to section it off taking small sections, but bringing that dark down wherever there's regrowth. Okay guys. So we have this root all applied, we're gon na. Let her sit about 15 to 20 minutes and then we're going to do the filler okay. So it's been 15 minutes since this root has been on and we are going to go in and apply the filler now. What i'm going to do is take my squirt bottle and wet her ends down so that this ladders really well, and i'm just going to do this section by section. You can do this at the bowl as well or you can do it at your chair. Just know that it can get a little bit messy. So if you're doing it at your chair, be careful so i'm just putting that into my hands and then i'm just gon na work it through like this, i'm so excited for this transformation, and i love taking blondes dark because it's so satisfying and i actually think My sister looks really good with dark hair, but part of me is always a little sad when i cover all the highlights that we've done for years, it's kind of bittersweet, but it's going to be beautiful. Okay, now it's time to mix up our final formulation. We are again using redken shades eq and i am going to do 5n and i have about an ounce of that mixed up and then i'm just going to do a little bit of 5na. The reason is um. My sister doesn't want it to be too red. She wants it to be a really pretty reflective, warm brown, so we have to have warmth in there, but we don't want it to be too red. So that's why i'm adding the n a and a lot of clients going darker do feel that way. So just a little bit of that will help cancel it, and then i also did a little bit of 5g. Just because i do want that warmth in there, but not in like a red sense. The g is going to give us a gold undertone. So i mix that up with processing solution and now we're going to head to the bowl and do the ends. You

I am with Him: I feel like filling light hair is something that is missed a lot in educating. Thank you for all you do to educate us.

LifeOfLW: Going from platinum back to brown so I use a Demi permanent what volume developer do I use?? Gonna try the red filler from Sally’s since I can’t get my hands on Shades EQ..

Dana Henson: omg the end result was GORGEOUS! she looks amazing with both colors but she really stands out as a brunette!

AliMakingMyWay: Started the process of going darker and applied the red tones to my hair but I'm really digging it haha so I'm leaving it for a bit until I'm ready for the full transition lol

reilly ward: Thank you. I followed this to fill my hair and it turned out perfect.

Vero Jo: She looks nice as an brunette. I also think she would look good with an cool red tone. She is lucky her skin tone can wear blonde, brunette, red. I enjoyed the video. Thank you for making hair videos. I have my cosmetology license. I learned a lot from watching your videos. I learned more from your videos than I ever have in cosmetology school! Thank you for making them.

Laura Del Rey: I have a question for Jessi or any professional colorist out here: if a new client (not a family member or close friend you’ve already worked with) comes in with overprocessed/damaged hair and wants to go super blonde, how do you approach that from a management perspective? I’ve always wanted to know how stylists navigate something like that

Michelle Loia: I colored my daughters hair from blonde to brunette without filling. Now it’s a muddy brown with red tones toward the scalp and greenish tones on the length. We were going for a neutral ashy brown. What do you suggest now? Can I fill it now? If so what color filler?

Sexprilla: Love your sister but she kills it as a brunette!!!

Myra House: Well done both look gorgeous I’m a brunette going grey decided to do Redken platinum ice fed up chasing the grey now ☝️ But it’s striking so wish me luck. I’ve kinda lost the plot a bit decided which combo to use

Lorrie Webster: @jessie I would love to see a video on highlighting curly hair. ☺️ Love your videos!

Natalie's Life: Pretty color! Between the two, I would say blonde but honestly both look great on her!(:

Jennifer Black Scott: Thank you so much for this video this is exactly what I was looking to find! What is the processing solution you're using with the filler? Is it a low level developer?

S. C.: That was a good video. I really learned something that I am going to use. Thank you for posting.

inna172134: Looks gorgeous definitely with brown color, better than platinum.

Elizabeth Downs: What volume developer did you use when you were actually mixing up the final hair color? Also, I’m having a very hard time finding any Redken brand shades anywhere any suggestions?

Nicolas LD: This is educational social media advice! The description at 1:29 is my favorite. Your content for sure is like the content of Adi! Adi is an expert in Instagram automation and that is why they call her Dr Jarvee! You should see her content out and give Social Media Expert a follow over here! ➡️ #DoctorJarveeAutomation

Denise lubken: Love love her in the red then the brown. She’s stunning no matter which!

N Nicole: I swear once I year I think this lady has her hair blonde to brunette and vice versa. Maybe it’s been more time than it seems? I love these videos though! I want to bleach my own hair but it’s so delicate . Oh I like her brunette! It brings out her eyes.

Buddy Shenk: she looks so amazing with dark hair

Franc2 anton: Super transformations !!!

Nakia Student Nurse: That was so so pretty, she looks beautiful with both colors but that chocolate had great reflection

Person-in ThaBackYa welcome!: What kind of shampoo and conditioner does your sister use at home? Because my hair has been through the same amount of bleaching and coloring as hers but her hair really doesn’t look that damaged. ❤️❤️

Livi Villela: I have a client that has blonde hair like that but wants lowlights added in, about that level. Is it possible to just put all that in together instead of 2 separate formulations?

Jenny Garcias: Beautiful work

Peepsqueek: Very good info thanks for sharing!

Julia Sonke: My hair is light brown and i really want to go to chocolate brown/dark brown but im so scared for the outgrow being lighter! The other way around looks better so im scared. Does anyone have tips for me or experience?

krystal hooper: Great job at explaining the 10 levels to put back in

bnb0510: The blonde color itself is so pretty but her hair looked really damaged. Partial to blonde hair but the brunette looked better overall imo.

Lola Marie: I love your videos

bran: i love how y'all go blonde, dark, blonde, dark

cxtrying: Is it okay to mix your colour ahead like that? Won’t it oxidize

arlene jacinto: How can you go from damaged/breakage/straggly ends bleached blonde hair to brunette?

Kamila Wright: Hi! Any formula for a brown/copper level 7, I’m debating in use 7n or 7cb with 7 cc what do u think? I don’t want to much red, I want more orangey/ copper

Melody Patterson: I thought my hair was damaged then i saw this. Now i don’t feel so bad

Anna Books: Now i need a drugstore version

Tamara Castillo: Whoa Amazing video !!! Just LOVE

Sydney Heron: If I was a blonde before and did my roots at a level 7 then went straight in with level 6/7all over and didn’t fill. At my next time colouring can I apply this filler over top before I do my colour to try to enrich my brunette

elizabeth elle: Brown over blonde for sure!

Cathy Guido: Wow what brand of color are you using? It’s taking real nice!

bean: This might be silly question, but can you achieve this with a permanent color if that is all that is available? Just mixing different levels of permanent instead ?

R: lol i feel like these sisters should make a wig line!!!! they change their colour so much it's safer to wear a wig at this point!

Nikki E: Why couldn't you add the missing tones right into the final color as long as they're lighter in level?

lollshay: omg! brown is totally her colour!!!

elena mill: Thank you!

Jonie Neese: Was looking forward to seeing an actual after of her real hair.

Real Talk: She looks beautiful with blonde and brown, but the blonde was cuter

Chase Bennett: can u please do a slick straight low ponytail with a ton of hairspray?

Silver LALA: Wow she looks gorgeous as a brunette

Rippins Girl: Can you do a lvl 10 full highlight root touch up with lvl 6 lowlight I’m finding my lvl 6 doesn’t stick or looks really chunky at the root and transparent at the ends.

chris schoendorf: Looks better as blonde ‍♀️

Champagne Supernova: Wayyy cuter with shorter blonde hair.

ffireinthedark: thsi girl is her sisters model love it

Monica Rocha: Why don’t you use a scale to measure your color?

KanKan: Won’t the shades just fade off reguardless if it’s filled bc of it being semi permanent

Brooke J: What’s the point of the step one 5N on the roots?

Nix Moretta: Would have liked to have seen it without the extensions first.

Arii Trippy: Where can I find these products you used

Amy D: 100% BROWN

Dolce Vita: All those products are totally unnecessary for that level brunette. I bet you charged her a fortune!

Toni Foster: Brown hands down

alissa landen: Gourgous color! Makes me nervous you wearing that White top

Sarah Haughey: Equal parts ? U didn't use a scale to weigh the equal parts though

user739: Idk why but I find the whole newly wed with a baby in the desert kind of hilarious

Susan: I like her hair dark.

Ladynipchick2: I couldn't see the filling/red part?

Coral: What peroxide did you put with the filler?

Sophie xo: Was your filler a Demi? Semi? Or permanent?

Linda Moore: She looks better as a brunette.. just my opinion ✌️

adil makhmood: she looks better brunette

Ashley Ashley: Why not show it without the extensions?!!
