Are Microlinks Healthier Then Sew Ins?

Microlinks, microwefting, braidless sewins are hot but are they the right choice for you? Many clients come from near and far to get microlinks. I don’t want to disappoint you but I want you to know the truth. Be careful and be consistent.

Hey y'all shire here at canvas hair studio wanting to give you guys a nice little video about the uh truth of microlinks um. You know me and my unpopular opinion that i don't mind giving okay uh. This is one of my clients who came in and got the micro links. I love it because she brought me natural texture, hair that matches her hair texture. That'S full! That'S really pretty, and it's going really really well. I love these type of clients because she's one of the clients that come on her schedule, maintenance right we're not getting the micro links taking it to our stylist, who didn't pay for the class and never seeing her again like she comes in on time to get Her maintenance for her micro links. This is not a method that you can do at home. It is not. This is not a method to be playing with period right. I know the thing is they're like oh i'm, never going back into sew-ins microlinks could never be sew-ins on their best day. Okay, a couch is not going to be a cat. This is not going to be. A protective style. Does not go in that category. This style is for people who know how to maintain their hair, don't mind coming into the salon: um our salon, regulars, okay, um. In my experience with the microlink's been on them for a little while now i've gotten all types of clients right the clients who come once think that they can do it at home, tear their hair to shreds and they're mad at me right. But when you come for a consultation, i'm gon na tell you straight up and down. If you don't come back you're going to be bold, yeah, bold and that's just my you know, consultation and i'm going to leave it at that. If you are a person, who's been in someone's for a while and you're looking for versatility, this is a good method to go to, but only if you are familiar with how to take care of your own hair, okay, it is also a method that you have To really be careful who you're going to as a hair stylist, because you can blow dry this wrong rip out a whole bunch of hair. You can shampoo it wrong tangle. It really really bad there's so many ways you can go wrong with micro links, okay, so um! I don't want to lead you guys astray and have you guys thinking? Okay, i'm gon na go into microlinks and it's gon na grow. My edges, i grow my hair out. Have my hair be so healthy? You can go backwards so quickly with one installation of microlinks. Okay, those are just facts. Okay, i don't care who's gon na be mad about it. Those are just facts. This is something that you need to take care of. It took us a while to blow dry this hair, okay, because she has these really really thick extensions. Her hair is really really really thick and i don't want to go in here and just blow dry. All over the place and yank out a whole bunch of hair. I have piles of hair in my brush, um i'll show you guys yeah. I just blow dried her hair and there's like a few strands in this brush few few strands. So you you just have to number one care number two be consistent with your maintenance of these micro links. Uh number three not try to be cheap, don't spend a thousand dollars to get them done and then never get a maintenance, because you're gon na spend ten thousand dollars trying to grow your hair back. Okay, it's gon na be protein treatments for life. So it's just not worth it so um. I want to show you her hair, because i really love the way this client is consistent. She'S coming in her hair is her hair, her natural hair, same length as when we started. This was her length when we started right. You don't see a whole bunch of little short pieces in between a whole bunch of breakage whole bunch of crispy pieces because she's in this chair when she needs to be so. I totally appreciate that, but i wanted you guys to um get this information because there's a lot of people out there like i'm, never doing sew-ins again. This could never replace sew-ins because number one you don't have the time all the time to sit in the salon. How long will you blow dry them unless you take two hours like it felt like two hours literally, it's a long blow dry process because i'm not gon na yank through your hair, i'm gon na go section by section, okay and make sure your hair is dry. Make sure i am keeping all the strands on your head that were there when you first came, because if you don't take the time and really really uh care for this extension method, you can cause a lot of damage to your natural hair, a lot of damage. Okay, so um and this hair is thick too. Her extensions are really really thick, so it held all the water. Today i was like almost done almost done so there's a lot of little different things that you have to keep in mind when you go to spend this seven eight hundred dollars on this micro link method, um. I want you guys to get the truth and hear from me: i'm never gon na. You know just sell you a service just because it's new, it's hot and it's expensive and i can make a lot of money off of it. No i'm doing my consultations figuring out what type of client you're going to be and if it's going to be best for your hair care best for where you're looking to go, i've had people come in to get the method and they're like. Oh, i don't care girl, i'm going to cut this in a shortcut. Well, let's go to so you ain't going to take care of it. You don't expect me to take care of it. You'Re gon na cut your hair afterwards, let's go, but then for those of you who are like i'm coming out of the sew-ins, because i want to take care of my hair. Have it be healthy? You have to come back to the salon and get your maintenance every two weeks, every two weeks, so do not get this method if you're gon na be in and out of town, don't get this method if you can't afford it, don't get this method if you're Working out seven days a week - okay, just don't i prefer just don't okay, but if you have time it's super cute, it's super fun. It'S super versatile, um. Also, oh, my goodness, i forgot y'all know i do my 50 50.. I'M gon na take half the responsibility for what you do, but you're gon na have to get this other half. If you are heavy-handed okay, if you are one of them, people that clean up and by the time you finish, cleaning up your whole like sponge, is raw and falling apart. Do not get this method? Okay, don't do it? Okay, you people these people. If you are heavy-handed, don't get this method because you can pull these beads out and have smooth bald spots in your head? Okay, smooth ball spots. I did one set yeah, i'm going to tell the story. I did one set of micro links when i take the lady came back in one week later. It has snatched the micro links out her scalp right. It'S just ball. Ball ball ball ball! She'S, like i didn't do nothing to it. I don't know the track. Just slipped out of my head and i'm just going to tell you the truth: you're going to pull all your hair out, okay and it's attached to the bead. So you can't have this so i went ahead and gave her a sew-in okay. So if you are heavy-handed, this is not the method for you either. Okay, so um just wanted to give you a little couple truths about the method so that you don't walk in here thinking. Oh, this is going to be the healthiest thing for my hair and i'm never going back in the sew ends. I do sew into my hair and i love them they're protective. They grow my hair out i'll. Even do the hybrid method which is sewing in the back of it and doing some micro links at the top for versatility, but i just will not. I will not repeat: stop doing sewings. Okay, come visit us at canvas hair studio here in houston, texas, i'm gon na give you the raw i'm gon na give you the real and i'm gon na keep here on your head. Okay - and i will talk to you guys later -

Tamarah: I've been watching Chara, since her and Damien were in the salon together, she's always kept it 100% honest when it comes to the health and maintenance of extensions! It's hard to find a stylist like her, who isn't just about the latest trends that will make them the most money! I appreciate her always being the same! Btw she's hilarious too! Grace and peace God bless!

T Will: when I first began watching you I had just gotten into wearing sew-ins thinking I was doing something good by “protective styling”. My hair has always been very thick and long, you taught me that “leave out” was called leave out lol, I had no idea, all I knew was that part of my hair was breaking off and my edges were fading. I talked to my stylist, all she did was switch the side my part was on I came across you while doing my research and all you talked about was healthy hair above all , you helped me realize that a protective style ain’t protecting nothin if it’s not installed correctly. I stopped going to the salon and this year September I will be 4 years natural ! I’m 45 and my hair is thick and long (couldn’t get my edges to fill in completely) like it was when I was in my teens and early 20’s. I have not been to a salon, for a professional trim and silk press or blow out , but I have to find the right one, I don’t want a set-back. Thanks for sharing your gift and your knowledge

Tas: I love the honesty! Can you make a video about the benefits of sew ins vs microlinks?

Living Single TX: Thank you! I was looking into getting micro method. But, I think I should try a weave. I'm 55. But, my inner tomboy still has me building stuff Plus, I'm new to Houston. I'll see you soon

Nicole Nunya: The dark hair looks so nice on you! I like the switch up ( the lighter color looks good on you as well)

Desirea Kemp: I love your videos. I use to wear sew ins but people talk about them so bad now because wigs are in style. What are your thoughts and opinions on sew ins ? How often should they be worn ? Could you please make a video?

Victoria: I use to watch your videos all the time! Thanks for this helpful information! The links are nice, but Chile I know my hands too heavy

Mia j: I was rewatching your vids cause i miss your vids. I hope you're officially back!

Tiffany Drake: Welcome back! I hope you stay because you are very knowledge about hair.

a j: I didn't like a single thing you said BUT I love ❤ and respect you for telling me/us the truth. Thank you, sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind, people should know what they are getting themselves into before embarking on something new & unfamiliar !

Tawni Eskridge: I needed to hear this i want this so bad but i cant sit in no ones chair every 2 weeks

Kyra Clarke: I’m just curious but why do you say you can’t do this at home?

Crystal Johnson: Charaaaaaassaaaa omg you look so pretty , and you better tell these people how to keep hair on they head lol , the master stylist has spoken

Trina: I only want a stylist who's kind, but talks to me like this "If you don't come back, you're going to be bald." If you don't like her.. take your bald self somewhere else I guess.. If you're paying this much money, you want to make sure it's straight.

Mina: These are the weft microlinks right?
