What African Threading Did To My 4C Hair #Shorts

my instagram: https://www.instagram.com/seunokimi/

I hope you enjoy this fun video using the new Youtube shorts feature to show you guys how I quickly took down this irun kiko style from my last video! These were the results!(: #shorts

So i want to show you guys how i undid this traditional african hairstyle that i did on my hair. It was a two-for-one, a really beautiful, hairstyle and also a way to stretch and straighten out my really curly 4c here. This is in real time. It literally came out backwards and these are the results - heat free, blowouts. Your about women have been doing this for centuries, 10 out of 10.. Let me know what you think:

Seun Okimi: This is the video showing how they were put in!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrWczFrcntw&t=255s

negar samini: The cool thing is that her hairstyle is traditional but also has a futuristic vibe to it!

Ka3lin❤️Bunny: Everyone: talking about how amazing her hair is Me: just looking at how beautiful SHE is

Mariam: This is the most beautiful yet painful hairstyle I’ve ever done. It really helped my hair grow when I was growing up

you_wish_you_were_this_cool: yall are over here with these amazing hairstyles and i’m struggling to get my hair in a nice ponytail

M: I love how the top comments are "I'm not black but I love it" lol you don't have to be black to like other's culture as long as you stay respectful

koolaid: that hairstyle is absolutely stunning. it looks sculptural, like a piece of art!

Rin: Idk why it just seems like these comments were impulsive, when you try justifying your compliment when it's half baked because there's a racial condition. Sure, your upbringing isn't around people of color, but why share it as if it's a reason why it wouldn't normally be accepted/admired? "As a **this** person, **that** person" Like you don't have to be a certain race to directly like/admire something. It's actually frustrating.

Prisglory Emerald: This method is true. It helps the hair grow some length as well, if it becomes a daily practice. It’s all about patience and proper care for your hair.

~Atoom •11• 아토마~: Damn y’all culture is just- ahh it’s so beautiful, it always amazes me, I just love to learn about it little by little!

High Maintenance Minimalist: I'm Igbo and my mom used to embarrass the F out of me by sending me to school with my hair like this (except, she made my styles higher and more sculpted). See me now, searching for that thread to stretch my hair.

Natalie Eidle: This is so beautiful! It's amazing to see someone wearing the hairstyle, but I would love to know the technique that goes into doing these traditional styles. It seems like it takes quite some skill, to know how tight the hair has to be wrapped to be stretched properly without causing pain to the wearer or damage to the hair. It's so beautiful to see people engaging in their culture!

Sophia Begg: Even as a child, I loved when my mum did this On my hair! Bringing back memories

Artimus_Pax: Gorgeous style and the end result was amazing! Just gorgeous hair, it must be so fun to style! My hair’s flat as a board so I’m super jealous at the volume and curl you can achieve❤️❤️❤️

Oreo _: This is gorgeous!I love learning more about new cultures it’s so fascinating and unfortunate that due to white supremacy being rooted as far as our textbooks that they don’t teach this in school:(

Wundabar: Can we just talk about HOW BEAUTIFUL HER HAIR IS BEFORE AND AFTER?! She looks so pretty!

Tommy J: I love this type of hair so much <3 its so fluffy and beautiful!! Even though I’m not black I always love seeing different hairstyles that I don’t see everyday or do everyday!! Stay slaying, Queen!!!

Zaniyah Ali: I don’t really know a lot about the different indigenous African cultures nor was I always interested because many people have surrounded the meaning of the cultures with “Black Magic” and other negative things. However, when the young lady in the video shows how people of that culture know a safe hair hack that benefits others people with 4c hair it makes knowing the culture a lot more inviting. If anything, I’m all for the positivity of learning cultures and what better way than to uplift beauty standards that have been notoriously ridiculed? ‍♀️

hope world: This was my main hairstyle as a kid, the thread wasn't as tightly wound but it does stretch your hair like crazy. I didn't even know what shrinkage was until I got to highschool because my mom (a Ghanaian hairstylist) would always do this for me.

Glitterfilledsoul: This is amazing! As a cosmetologist I loved every second of this and the results were so satisfying. U look gorgeous!

Emmanuella Mercier: Lmao me a whole African who used to feel “ugly” when I wore that beautiful hairstyle. I’m glad we can appreciate it now

Gladys Francis: I also have 4c hair and a while ago I did this style to stretch/straighten my hair while it dried. I absolutely loved how it turned out and I went a head and kept style. I washed my hair 2x in this style and by the time I had to take it out my hair almost locked itself, but I would still do this style again.

Shalonda Swanson: I love getting the two for one style on my daughters’ hair. I love their hair stretched too.

YourRoyalRuby♡: I love how the hair whips around like one of those spiral leaves falling from trees as the thread is being pulled out!

Phoebe Darker: The twirl of the hair being released is sooooo cool!!! Helicopter movement! Also the hairstyle before being undone seems nothing less of epic, wow! So intricate!

Jade Teraumiria: Black/African Culture never fails to amaze me, the beauty y’all with hold literally blows me away.

Jackotrades 08: It’s fascinating all the masterpieces y’all can make with the limited space of your heads

Shunda Wade: That is a beautiful hairstyle and it was just as satisfying to watch her do this hairstyle as it was to watch her take it down. Absolutely beautiful work!

Loretta 253: I remember as a kid watching a movie with a tribe in Africa in it and telling my parents I wanted the women's hair styles because it looked awesome. My family told me that I couldn't because its their custom and culture and they may not allow outsiders to have those hair styles. I still imagine having those hairstyles still

avernion: One looks cool, the other adorable. I like both ways Awesome hair. I’m Swedish and I can do nothing with my hair. It thinks every braid, every ponytail, is some kind of prison break. It’s just hopeless…

zimnyaya koroleva: as a mixed white and Asian person, this is amazing!!! Black hair is naturally so beautiful and all the styles you guys use are gorgeous!! the beginning threads were absolutely incredible and the end result was stunning :)

Kadie Corona: I grew up getting this done! My mom use to do it ❤

Miley Afedi: My mom always does this to my hair and it grew my hair 5 inches in 8 months. I feel stunned that people actually do that method

JapaneseVixenofArt: The African traditional hair style looks so beautiful on you!

Isamar: Wow what a beautiful hairstyle! Your hair looked great after taking it out

Muobo Solutions (Make Money Online): My mom used to do this on my hair when I was little. Didn't like it much back then and dunno if I do now, lol. However, one thing I can say is that it truly does stretch out the hair. It's also a great way to grow your hair fast.

Leigha McGarrity: You’re so pretty!!! I love it!! It was satisfying to see how fast it cane undone

Annabanana: Omg, your hair is so gorgeous!! I love the style before and I love your fluffy hair after!!! Sorry, I just love this so much lol

unknown _______: My mum and big sisters used to do this one my hair with colourful threads etc for kindergarten and children would laugh at me and I would hate it (in a predominantly white school in Europe) , now looking back at pictures I realised the hairstyle is actually so unique and beautiful

dionysus: your hair is so beautiful!! I wish I had the kind of hair texture to do such lovely hairstyles, it's so unique!

L 6: This is just stunning. I love the shine and the patern with contrast of texture before and then the heavenly clouds of hair after, what a charming tradition

Little Won: Awww this takes me back to primary school when we used to do this hairstyle. I should start stretching my hair like this actually.

stacey earle: I remember when my cousin had this done to her hair back in 74 ♥️♥️

crissybelles: We Black woman are beautiful. Our hair, our skin, our smile - everything. I LOVE to thread my hair and thanks to our ancestral foremothers

Zoe E.: The way it came undone is stunning, and the hair style is such a beautiful peice

nicolajo666: Afro hair is an incredible canvas for artistic expression!

Eliz Florence: I've always wondered, won't it hurt-stress your hair if you always keep tight hairstyles?

Sasa’s Epiphany: Threading is one of my FAVORITE ways of stretching my hair. And this style is a look

Ruuuu Roth: I'm born and raised in South Africa, and the hairstyle is soooo beautiful, I have not seen it around here but I do hope to see it more often...it really looks so pretty❤❤

prinxcesschocolaxte: My mom used to do this to me ALL THE TIME. She doesn’t do as much because I’m older now(I’m 13)so she gives me more of choice as to what hairstyles I do, but it really does help stretch and grow your hair! 100% recommended.

Mia Rand: You’re gorgeous with and without the threaded sections!

April Garcia: Wow. I really loved that hairstyle! My baby has a headful of gorgeous hair. I imagine how pretty this would look on her. BTW, I say 'my baby' - but she's a grown woman.

joanne dale: When I was little the next door neighbour did my hair like this a few times. It's a great hairstyle. It looks beautiful on you

lauraisawesification: This was so satisfying the way the thread unraveled, it soothed me. You also look stunning!!

Panacea(*: That's so amazing! I love this; Black culture is so beautiful!!

Eyeless Katie: That's really pretty and I love how beautiful African hairstyles are. I would never do them to my own hair since I don't want to be disrespectful but I always wonder if my hair would look nice in different styles

Randi Dukes: Omg it was so beautiful when it was wrapped like that!!! I can’t imagine how many different ways u could style that so fkn dope!!

IreneS: THE HAIR STYLE IS SOOOOO PRETTY AND IT LOOKS GREAT ON YOU!!

spooky doot doot: I have so much respect for poc who have the patience and luscious locks to pull this stuff off. Culture runs deep, so don’t be afraid to bring it to the surface!

Lyv: im indian and i dont really like my hair cause it s like really dark and doesnt curl but these hairstyles and types of hair never fails to amaze me with it s beauty and uniqueness ✨

Melissa Gayheart: I loved that hair style, it looked so beautiful!! ❤

Coco B: Absolutely gorgeous either way. The threading was beautiful.

Jojo Cluddy: I grew up having this and the regular African thread. This one is what we call ngeli ngeli in Congo (plastic kind of texture) which you are supposed to leave on for more than a week (3-4 weeks preferably) to see the best results. You'll be pleasantly surprise and won't believe one can get their hair like that without heat :) I came to the conclusion that I'll ask my mom to get me some

Lou says relax!: This is actually how I blowout my hair without heat..... I love it❤️

Lady Shakari: I haven't had that done since I was a teen and had a African best friend that use to do mine, my hair grew so long from having it done on a regular basis. I had no hair breakage like with braiding. ❤️

slayedby kayele: That's a gorgeous protective hairstyle I wish I could wear my hairstyles like this

Swish Bear: As a child hated this when we were forced to wear this to school.. . now I adore it. Full circle my friends

Tileyah Allen: I believe this is a BEAUTIFUL way for one to preserve their hair for longer durations, and easier maintenance. (Not a review—only time I saw this.)

Assbat 1: That hairstyle is awesome and a protective one, plus gives medusa vibes I love it!

iona: My Cameroonian mom used to do this to my hair in kindergarten to stretch it before the “real” style. So for two whole weeks all i heard was “branch head” but looking back this is def better than constantly blowing your hair out
