How To Make Halo Hair Extensions

AmiBeth is known for a lot of things, she's a singer, she's a mermaid, she has amazing hair... Today she shares with us a inexpensive way to wear hair extensions with a DIY Halo Hair Tutorial. All you need is some hair extensions, some fishing line, scissors and some super bond (bonding glue) and you're all set!

Hey everyone: what's up it's Amy Beth and today I wanted to show you guys a DIY project on halo, hair extensions. As you can see, I have my own natural hair. It'S just air dried right out of the shower. I know it's kind of weird. Seeing me in other videos with pounds and pounds of hair and then seeing it just board straight and you know a lot thinner, but I like to wear extensions quite a bit. I would say at least three times a week and I think that doing these kind of extensions, the halo extensions where there's no clips in them is a lot less damaging for your hair and it helps you kind of keep your hair healthier. So I'm gon na show you how I did it. So what you're going to need is a pack of extensions, just a continuous track, no clips added some bonding glue. This is super bond in white because I'm doing blonde extensions. If you're doing darker colors, it does come in a darker like a darker like grey, I think or black, and you need some scissors and some clear monofilament. I don't know if I'm pronouncing that right. It'S not an everyday vocabulary word for me, but I got it at Walmart for two dollars and it kind of looks like fishing line, but you can also like make bracelets with it. I got it from the craft section. So here is my track of extensions, and I've definitely already used this one before to make this one right here. So this is what I have leftover and, as you can see, it's a lot of hair and it only cost me fifty dollars. It'S human hair, and anyway I digress. I will continue your first step is you're going to want to measure the back of your head. How much you want - and you just want it to cover like the back of your head, all the way from your shoulders into the back. So that's about that much! So I'm going to cut it and once you have that piece, you're just going to want to cut two more exactly the same width. So now it's time to start gluing, the extensions together and just bonding them together and what I'm doing is putting it directly on the hair, because I'm gon na put the little um. It just sticks a lot better and it kind of layers, your extensions okay. So once you have the glue on you're going to take a layer - and you just hold it on there and it might - you might feel like oh gosh, this isn't gon na stick. It isn't going to stick that. I promise you. This bonding glue is no joke. Like it will bond it to the hair, so now it's time to put on the clear string onto the extensions and I like just kind of taking a risk measurement of my head to see how much I like to use. And personally, I like it fitting so that the extensions are right at the nape of my neck, some girls, like it a little bit higher so depending on where you want the extensions to lay on your head. That'S where you're going to measure it and give yourself a little extra space, because you're going to be tying it to both ends of the extension. So I'm going to go on both ends of the extension and I just literally tie a knot like a couple of knots: um, probably a triple knot and seal it with some glue. Okay. So now that the glue is all dried, I'm just going to show you the moment of truth, how to put them in so you lay it. On top of your hand, looks kind of stupid, but I see some people in the mall they take like those teasing. Combs and they pull it out, um, I don't have one of those handy and I don't think that they're necessary. So what I'm doing is I'm just brushing my hair over the extensions all right, as you can see that took two seconds to take out it took about ten seconds to put in and when you're styling it and curling it. You know. Obviously it's going to take a little bit longer, but they look amazing when you're here's all curling a lot of times when you guys see me in my hair, is big and curly just use this little secret. It saves you from a lot of damage from the clips and I still don't recommend wearing them like every single day of your life, just because your hair needs a break wash it. Let it air dry and you don't only put heat on it when you have to and always use a heat, protectant spray. I'M captain heat spray. No, I'm not, but I am wearing a cool, Gangnam style shirt and, if you like it, it will be up on the website. Thank you guys so much for watching I'm rambling, but have a great day.

Krista Bettino: I just tried this and they look awesome!! I bought 1 package of human hair at a professional beauty supply store. Human hair is really the way to go and it comes in a variety of textures and price points. I am not an expert by any means, but Remy hair is generally considered higher quality as the cuticle is in tact.

Rainbow Dozen Farm: Have you tried GoldBond hair glue? I like it because it's clear and is way more intense than latex glues. Also, some folks are allergic to latex so the Gold Bond glue is a good alternative. <3

ShellsnTexas: AmiBeth, this is so awesome! Made me one today, for my bidness meetin tomorrow! I can't wear any cute trendy clothes, but my hAR's gonna rock! Mine's very much like the 1 you made. Thank you for lettin loose yer creativity! I am now a mad scientist with my scissors, thanks to YOU, GURL! U Rock!

Sharon Clements: thank you so much!! You absolute ANGEL, you have just saved me a lot of money!!!!

Eloise Kennedy Sztyblewsky: You have to use ELASTIC beading string, not just plain "monofilament" as in fishing line. Someone at the hair supply store pointed that part out - the string part has to stretch. I got as far as gluing the tracks together (4 of them since the hair I bought was particularly thin) and thought about that one a bit. But it's still available in Wal Mart's jewelry/craft section.

gbritaney: These look cool but I would be scared about how secure they will be on my head for everyday stuff. I feel if I make the wrong move they would fly off haha. Still a great idea but I would probably only use them to record videos :)

Worthy Daily: Very very funny!!! Gonna watch more of your stuff now!

monamourestmoncoeur: AmiBeth is my favorite. Only watched this video because she's in it. :)
