Microlinks (Microweft) Hairstyle On 4C Hair Review... Was It Worth The Price?

Microlinks or (Braidless sewins), is a hairstyle typically worn by women with type 1 hair textures and/or more relaxed hair textures. It's a bit more taboo when a 4C beauty tries out this hairstyle. Mainly because all of our hair is out as it would be during a silk press, so this style requires healthy hair habits! Follow my guide in this video and you should be fine if you say "YES," it's worth the price.

My Story - Before getting microlinks installed, I couldn't find a single YouTube video about 4C textured hair that I can use as a reference to whether I should get it or not. So I documented my microlinks journey for the culture! Now you can decide if this hairstyle is worth your money. If my kinky hair can flawlessly rock this style for 6 weeks, then I'm sure that you won't have any major problems. Comment below and I can reply to help you out if you're still on the fence.

Maintenance: It took about 4-5 hours to install. It was painless. You must followup with your stylist at least every two weeks for a deep conditioner treatment and wash. Only use the special brush as recommended by a stylist (this brush Prevents pulling of beads). I only used two hair products to combat product buildup the entire time while wearing this hairstyle:

1. Texture id Thermal Protecting Shine & Seal Gloss

2. Edge Control

Pros: I loved the versatility, my natural hair was out the whole time so my scalp can breathe, my hair blends well and it looked so natural.

Cons: I couldn't work out or sweat, otherwise my natural hair would revert and not blend well. I couldn't get my hair wet at all unless I can dry it myself. I love washing my hair, so this was a big con for me. I don't recommend trying to wash/dry your hair without professional guidance, as those beads can cause serious damage if you accidentally pull it out. Preventing dandruff was a struggle, especially close to my 2 week wash day. It was also expensive but I don't regret spending the money because I really enjoyed this hairstyle.

The main reason that I won't get it again is because I'm not a fan of texturizers etc. Texturizers or Keratin treatments will help your hair maintain the straighter hairstyle, while also preventing frizz. I could also workout without it reverting back to my natural hair texture so easily. However, I love my afro and pineapple puffs so I don't want to risk permanently messing up my texture.

Here is a short YouTube video I found describing how to install and explains microlinks in more details (it also uses a natural hair model): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGLuIL...

Hi youtube: my name is IRA and we're going to talk about how I maintain my natural hair with this for C my curly hair style. Our topics include my thoughts while maintaining this hair style, my hair regimen. How much did it cost suggestions and, more so stay tuned for seen a churros the first week of maintaining this hairstyle was much easier than I thought. All I did was flexing around my hair every single night before bed and used two products and edge control, and also a hair serum texture ID hair. Soon to be exact, it was fabulous. These are the products listed, and this is all that I used the whole six weeks of having this hairstyle. However, playing tennis for me was a no no, my hair reverted so fast. It was ridiculous, but fortunately enough all I used was texture, ID hair, serum and some flexi rods take ten minutes at night flex around my hair and then I have beautiful results that you see here the following day. So all was well in iris world. Every two weeks like clockwork, I will go to my professional hairstylist Reva to get my hair wash deconditioned, blow-dried and flat iron and every night before bed. I flex I ride my hair. I highly suggest that you go to your professional hairstylist to get your hair washed and deconditioned that way it will help prevent hair damage on your natural hair, there's also a special brush. That Riva suggested that I purchased, which I did, which prevents you from tugging on the beads and also pulling and damaging your hair. Some pros for me would be that it blends very well with my natural hair, providing I use, hair extensions that blends with my texture, and also it just looks natural. I was getting compliments almost every day while having this hairstyle. So this is the final day of me wearing this hairstyle right before I went to my stylist a little over six weeks after having Micro leaks for a whole full 6 weeks, and I have - and I will say the I don't know, I'm pretty much still torn - Would I get it again, probably not because I did have a lot of dandruff that built up. I could not get it wet at all, because my natural hair would revert in its completely different texture from my yaki textured, hair extensions and also the price. It'S pretty expensive, it's more expensive than a sew-in, and I mean I really love this so and because I could do strenuous activities like play, tennis, workout, etc. Also, every two weeks like clockwork, you had to go and get your hair shampooed conditioned by the hairstylist, which was a ninety five dollars. Just to get your hair, you know groomed and you cannot cut corners. You can't do that yourself with those beads in your head. Otherwise, you're running the chance of damaging your natural hair now for the installation, without any hair extensions included, it's 3:25 to get it installed, which I mean it's over-the-top expensive, especially for the hair stylist that I went to. In my opinion, she is the best in Houston, but it's still pretty pricey and that's why I created this tutorial to help inform the public. Anyone with my textured, hair or in-between or whatever the pros and cons and what I think about it. And you make the informed decision yourself, so I hope that this helped you and in this clip I'll, show you a little bit about how the beads look and you'll get deep into my hair and you'll see the damage, the dandruff and everything. But my hair grew with this hairstyle. I was able to let it out and it was flowy. I really enjoyed it. My hair stylist did recommend me to get a bit of a texturizer just to prevent damage on wash days, because my natural hair would tingle around the beads. So that is something else to consider. So this was the only time that I've gotten the micro link hairstyle, and it probably will be the only time that I ever get it again, but nonetheless, I enjoyed every second of having this hairstyle. Please, like comment subscribe and be a little be on the lookout for more of my content about hair. I am so obsessed, and I thank you and I appreciate you for watching this bye

Perceptions of Care: I'm interested but it sounds like alot of work. So I would definitely use this style for a special occasion. Thanks for the informative video. ‍♀️‍♀️

Brooke N: Good luck Iree . This is Pragya . Keep posting helpful links

clipinqueen: Hmmm....there's a lot of girls out there washing their own hair with this extension method. Not sure why you feel you couldn't do that yourself. In fact, it is EASIER to wash your own hair by yourself since you can reach your scalp directly. You just have to be gentle and make sure to blow dry the hair after wash. Your video is very thorough though - thanks for posting.
