protective style grwm natural hair kinky curly hair marley twists mini twists natural hair journey

jai marii crochet

Wow all right y'all, so the hair i'll be using today, is from outre. This is their braid of kanekalon hair. It'S already pre-stretched to save you time, but first, let's prep our hair for our protective style. Alright, you guys so let's get right into this tutorial, starting off with my extra dry hair. I am using my favorite lotta body and a little bit of oil just to put some moisture into my hair before doing this protective style. Like i do all the time, i am just separating my hair getting the parts down getting how i want my deep side part to go, which is what i'm doing right now. This is what i do before. I start any kind of braiding exactly knowing how i want my hair to flow, and this is what we are working with nine times out of ten. I don't straighten my hair, so i don't blow dry or flat iron before i do any kind of braids or twists. However, with this particular hair in this style, i think i'm gon na be honest with you guys, i would definitely say stretch it as much as you can even blow dry it if you feel the need to because i think it would have came out a little Bit better and not even that it just would have been easier for me personally to um to just install the hair. Had my hair been a little bit more stretched than what it is, but it's all good. This is not my first rodeo with you know: non-stretched hair, i'm just going like. I normally do just adding some moisture detangling right here with my felicia leatherwood brush and then twisting it up, and you know doing that to the rest of my head. So next i am going to just section this last part off and install a few braids about going up like a maybe a half of an inch um to do the braiding crochet method that i absolutely love to do. I'M doing this method because many of you have asked me does it work with twist, and i want you to see that this method works very well with twists, not just braids. So here we are i'm just parting as best as i possibly can y'all know. If you are new to my channel, i am not a parter, i don't do straight lines or straight parts, no matter how hard i try, but i do my best um and here i'm using this awful awful jam y'all. This is all i had in my stash and it was horrible, absolutely horrible. I typically don't use this, but i ran out of edge control but make sure you have a really great edge control you guys and that that will really really help you with this style. So i'm just braiding each section about in half of an inch and just moving on to the next be careful around your edges. I'M always super careful. I don't have the the the strongest or the thickest edges. So you just want to take your time and not pull too tight but, like i said you're just going to do just a few braids here, maybe a half of an inch. You can go an inch if you want to, but a half should be a sufficient, and this is what i'm working with all around my head: all right, y'all. So moving on to the hair that we are using for this style. So this is altrey's pre-stretched hair. It'S already pre-stretched for natural tapered ends. You get three bundles per pack for more volume. It'S super lightweight. You guys, like really really lightweight. It comes in 46 and 56 inches. You guys see i'm using color 1b and 56 inches. So all you have to do is just pull out a bundle of hair, and since it's already pre-stretched for you all you have to do is just grab the section. You need as much as you need and braid and go very easy. So for this braiding crochet, i'm just taking a section here and i'm going to use my crochet hook and this purple and green one actually has a wider opening than the pink and green. So i don't know if everyone knows that, but there are different um sizes to crochet hooks so because i'm doing jumbo twists, i'm going gon na use my jumbo crochet needle and i'm just crocheting the hair in as normal pulling it through, and you can see here. The hair is not tight, it has some. You know some room to move around, which is exactly what you want, because once you start twisting or braiding, if you're opting to do box, braids um the base of your braid, your your hair, your actual hair, that's grown from your scalp. It will get tighter. So i'm just twisting as normal and i'm kind of twisting the hair like right now, as i twist so kind of like that senegalese type of twist and honestly y'all, i'm just so used to my it's like i automatically twist like this, because i've done it. So many times, but i'm also adding gel to my hair to make sure it just flows a lot better, so make sure you're adding a little bit of edge control to well, not a little bit a good amount of edge control to the rest of your hair. Your natural hair, so that it flows and it blends really well like i said the jam that i was using, didn't do anything you guys so make sure you've got a really good edge control. So, as far as how i twisted the base, i just split my hair into two, and i just started twisting very simple and i'm going to reiterate, because sometimes i be getting comments that a little rude, pretty much saying that this um this technique is a waste Of time and it's it takes a lot more time. Well, yeah it's going to because not everyone has a really good grip game and, like myself, you know not, everyone can can do hair the same. So we need different techniques for everyone. If you have a good grip game, don't do this, you know, don't do this technique, it's not that hard, but for those who don't and still want their style to last, because if you don't twist the hair in the right directions, especially with doing big jumbo twists, Like this, your hair can come out. You know it can get loose very easily, so that braid just ensures that it's going to stay. That'S all it's doing is just ensuring that it's gon na be in there and you don't have to worry about any slippage happening. Hey y'all, so this is the final look on this style. I haven't done twist in my hair in such a long time. I honestly don't remember how long it's been. I mainly did this style, because y'all know how i wear my hair. You already know by now that i am a bun girl. I rarely wear any type of braids, any type of anything like down just because i just love buns, so i'll, probably just throw this on top of my head. That was the whole purpose, but another one of my purposes was really just to show you that doing the braids and crochet method works for twists as well. So many of y'all, like i'm pretty sure i already said um but so many of y'all asked me, have asked me since the beginning of the year. Does this work for twists and they do? If i were to do this again, i would definitely do them a little bit smaller. I just don't have the patience for super small braids that and y'all know. I change my hair all the time. So if i put tiny tiny braids up in my hair, they gon na stay for a while. The hair was also really really nice. Y'All super lightweight, there's tons of braiding hair out there i mean that's just stating the obvious there's a lot of braiding hair out there, but outra is one of those household names that you know nine times out of ten you're gon na get great hair, and that's What i love about it and that's what i loved about this braid of hair from them. It was very lightweight, very easy to work with, did not tangle as well, which is like huge, but so far, no itching and the fact that it's already pre-stretched, i love pre-stretched hair. I feel like every company should be doing pre-stretched hair at this point, because nobody has a time, especially with so many bright, like different braid methods and those kind of things that are popping up left and right. You just don't have the time to be stretching hair and doing all the extra stuff. So the fact that you can just pull this hair out braid and go whatever you're doing is perfect. So if you see this hair in the beauty supply store online or wherever you're at, i would definitely grab a pack. Some things are just one of those like. I don't want to say here. Well, yes, one of those like hairs that you just want to keep at home, and i have a few of those that i love. Oh my gosh, which one did i do. I think it was the outre spring y'all. I just did the video. I can't think of it i'll put a picture right here. I love that hair from outre. This is another pack that i would keep in the closet. Just keep wherever you keep your little stash of hair. Just in case, you need a quick style, because you can always just pull one of these bundles out. Make a bun if need be, you've got options with this type of hair. Also, all together, i have 25 twists, which is pretty typical of me. Whenever i'm doing like a jumbo type of style, i always try to keep my twists between 25 and like 32.. I know that sounds really odd as far as numbers go, but that's typically what i say around if you guys are ever wondering how many braids i have in my hair. I also use three bags total of this hair other than that. That'S pretty much it y'all not too much to say very simple style, very easy style. I will put all the information about this here down below in the description box, always make sure you guys check there for whatever i'm using products like everything i try and put as much information in the description box as i can, and i think that is pretty Much it for this video, so thank you guys so much for watching and if you have any questions comments, please put them down below, don't forget to hit that subscribe button, and i will talk to you guys. My next video bye

Jamaican Beauty: Your twists always looks so crisp!! I didn't know that there were different size crochet hooks.

Moi: This technique is my go-to. When I do invisible twists, it pulled too much at my hair and damages it. Rubber bands damage my hair too since I always have my hair pulled up in a bun. With the braid then crochet method, the added hair doesn't pull at your natural hair as much and I can do it much faster than all those others. Yours came out nice Sis.

Dorcas Samie: Everything u do on your head comes out fantastic

TeriSpoken2u: Thank you for your hair it’s actually showing how natural hair really looks, it’s not all kinky and look undone it’s just natural, love it and your twist.

Thank you for your very informative videos. They are very easy to follow.

CHANEL-5: Your natural hair is GORGEOUS,I WISH mine was as long as yours. And the twists look so beautiful on you too

NeverStopLearning DrBard: Thank you for sharing this technique!

Emoretta Robinson: When I saw the thumbnail for this video I was so glad to you that you did twists! I have several packs of hair and plan to put in Senegalese twists this weekend. Senegalese twists are my favorite. I still like Marley twists too. I used to put those in my hair but it's been years. I didn't know that you'd be doing the braiding at the root and then pulling the hair through with a crotchet hook technique with this. (Chica we gotta find a shorter name for what this is called.) But I have wondered if that would work with twists? I apologize for anyone that left rude comments. I personally have issues with my back (I had my 3rd epidural almost 2 months ago and have had numerous procedures) so my concern was my not being able to hold my arms up long enough to put the twists in properly at the roots. I didn't want then to come undone and need the style to last me at least 5-6 weeks. So I didn't think I could grip it properly due to having a lot of pain. So thank you for doing this! To me this process looked just like what I needed. Again thank you. And both you and your hair are beautiful.

Ace ing: Yeah I have all the dang hair!! And it takes a minute just to do twists so I will be trying this method. Thank you !!!!

TiffanyD.: Soooo beautiful!

April Johnson: I've tried this method with braids and I loved it!! I'm going to try this one next.

Tyiesha Price: I am definitely going to try this on my little daughter, this will save me a lot of money.

Dori B.: Hey beautiful your style are always on point love. I never tried doing the twist this way I will now. And I'm going to try this hair as well. Thank you and keep these video coming

virgolove 4ever: Oh my goodness I love this my absolute favorite out of most of your style's.....

Ashley Smith: I got leftover braid hair! this is perfect

Crystal Wells: It looks pretty❤️

Wei Luv: Omg love this, great job! Definitely will be tryin this

KeKe B: Perfect, thank you!

Angel Butler: Thank you. ❤ I embrace all techniques. Learning how to do my own hair instead of always going to braiding salons

Nickole Clark: Gurl, idk who is making those rude comments, but I'm here for this style technique! I love your twist and braid videos they give the confidence to do it myself. Stay Blessed and keep slaying!!

Michelle Rodgers: I just came from another video...the “braid up” method is the GOAT! I do mine with Marley hair and i braid the base with the Marley hair and then separate my hair into each section and twist. Love love, mine have been in two months and i just redo when needed.

QueenSheree77 Gosserand: Very pretty! I did this once for my daughter but the twist unraveled like after a few days! How did you seal the ends? And how long did this style last for you?

Megan Williams: Just subscribed to your channel I just LOVE everything you do. I'm definitely gonna do something with hair this Saturday.

Rayshawn Ware: So pretty, ima beginner and this helped wonders
