Hello and welcome back to my channel so in this video, i'm gon na be talking through my experience with weave in hair extensions um. This is gon na, be like mainly a positive video, because i've had such a good experience with them. But there are like a couple of things which i think people should bear in mind before they get extensions. So this is my hair um. Please excuse like how dramatic my makeup is. Um. I just got really bored and we're in lockdown, and i just kind of went a bit ott with makeup but yeah. This is my hair, so i think i've got 16 or 18 inch extensions. I kind of i didn't want them to be too long. I wanted them to be almost like a natural length and i think i got the shortest length you can get, but essentially i have two tracks weaved into my hair and i will insert clips of like what it looks like so i've had these in my hair. For about six weeks now and i've had no problems at all, i'm getting them kind of like refitted um in three or four weeks, depending on what is happening with lockdown. But i've had no problems whatsoever and i got the rooted hair extensions. So the top is actually darker and then they kind of like go into a gradient of blonde. That is because my natural natural, my existing hair color, was dark roots and then blonde ends um. My reason for getting her extensions was basically because, over the years, i've bleached my hair so much that it was just snapping horrible, broken brittle, not nice hair, and i really missed the length and thickness that i used to have and i've spent so long. Looking after my hair, but the bits where they're bleached like this is so this is a piece of my actual hair, and i don't really you can tell but like from here downwards, like she is just she's, just quite damaged um from the root until about here. My hair is quite healthy because in the last year and a half i have really been looking after my hair but yeah basically bleach ruined my hair and i kind of wanted a temporary fix until i could eventually grow my hair to this standard and obviously hair Extensions are quite expensive and i've never really been able to afford them. But after getting a new job and stuff like that, i saved up some money and i was able to actually start looking for her extensions and i will pop the link to the instagram. The lady who did my hair she's, absolutely amazing, really affordable and she's based in nottingham, so definitely check her out um, and i sent her a message and i was just like. I want to get hair extensions. I'Ve never had them before. I don't know how to work um. The only thing i knew about her extensions was, i knew that people have tapings and i knew that people had clippings and i didn't want to get clippings just because i'm so lazy. I never do my makeup and i very rarely get like properly dressed up and i just knew if i had clipping hair extensions. I would literally wear them like once a week and that kind of defeats the purpose, because if your hair is constantly changing length, then people are gon na know that you've got hair extensions in so i wanted something permanent and i originally said that i would be Interested in tapings and um, i had consultation, and she basically said because my hair is quite thick um. I would benefit from having a weave, and she also explained that kind of like tapens nano rings ins, things like that can be more damaging, whereas a weave is a lot less damaging on your hair. I'M gon na go into that in a second um and i think it works out a little bit cheaper to get a weave as well, because you've got like you've got big big pieces of hair um. It lasts a lot longer and also it's just so much easier to take out and put back in um. So i went with a weave and yeah. So when i had my hair done, i didn't get it dyed or anything. So my hair is still a pretty um questionable dye job, because i've essentially got my natural roots. Then some like dye that i had put on to blend my roots, which didn't really go well and then like just really old bleach from like last year. So next time i get my hair done, i'm gon na get it dyed properly as well, but i had the hair extensions fitted and basically how it works is um the hairdresser separates, so she separates the crown of your hair, makes kind of like an even parting And then puts tiny little bonds into thin pieces of hair, and this is done all around kind of like one row of your hair and then the like hair piece is sewn into the loops that those bonds create. So i don't know if i'm explaining that very well, but basically it doesn't get sewed into your scalp um. It'S not braided. So it's not like a pressure. I think people associate having weave hair extensions with having kind of like a plait on your head um. My hair wasn't braided at all, and then she did that again, just a little bit lower down and the entire process took about an hour. So the positives of having weave hair extensions is generally your hair, isn't as damaged a lot of my hair. Isn'T touching any hair extensions so, for example, this like this is my obviously this isn't all my natural hair, but this is like the underneath of my hair, and none of that is touching the hair extensions, so none of that is gon na be damaged or impacted By the hair extensions at all again, the top of my hair, like all of this, is just free flowing hair, um and then in between each extension, piece. There'S like just more of my natural hair. So the contact that the hair extensions has with your actual hair is very small they're. Obviously i think there's about maybe like eight or ten pieces that have the bonds on them per row. So that's what like 16 or 20 pieces of hair and they're very, very thin pieces of hair, and they don't really get damaged. They do kind of get pulled because obviously the weight of the hair does pull down on them a bit. But it's not like gluings or like tapes or anything where you're having your hair, actually contacting the hair extensions and then you're, having like with glue ins and tape, ins and stuff and like even micro rings, like your physical hair, is being bonded to the hair extensions. Whereas this is such like a non-invasive way of doing it um, so that's really good, also in terms of styling as well. I never used to kind of use heat on my hair because i was trying to get the condition back to a good standard and obviously her um, hair, straighteners and stuff doesn't help your hair to stop breaking. But since having extensions, i've been styling, it um this kind of explains the whole 80s vibe i've got going on. I use like the fabulous wave envy thing, but i don't feel as bad kind of using heat on the fake hair, but well it's real hair, but i don't feel as bad using heat on this hair because i know like this is very durable and also like. It'S not my hair, like yes, i paid for it, but i don't feel as bad using heat on it um. Another good thing is just it looks so much better and it's so much thicker and i feel, like my hairstyles, just look nicer because my hair's so damaged at the ends when i used to wear it in a ponytail like the end third of the ponytail. Would just be like wispy horrible split blonde? I will go into kind of like the negatives or the considerations, and the first kind of like negative is that you do have to use more heat than i'm used to. So i didn't used to use a hairdryer on my hair before i just used to let it dry naturally, whereas with hair extensions, you have to make sure they are bone dry. Otherwise, you can get mold and like just nasty stuff kind of like accumulating where the hair is sewn in, so you need to be really careful to dry it um kind of alongside that, the washing process. Now i'm someone who used to wash my hair when i was bored i used to wash my hair like every other day to every three days, depending on like grease levels, but since getting hair extensions. I'Ve had to like reduce how often i wash my hair because it takes so long. I wash my hair now every like twice a week, maybe like every four to five days and considering i'm someone who exercises a lot and it can get quite smelly, um i've. Since invested in like dry, shampoo and stuff, but you're not meant to wash your hair so often when you have extensions, so i'm really having to kind of like drag out how infrequently i wash it - and i know in the long term - that's good for my hair, But i just we're on day four now and we're fine, but i feel like in the next couple days. It'S just gon na get really greasy and i'm just not a fan of it, but that's like personal preference um and like when you're washing as well. You need to be really careful to like actually get the shampoo into your scalp and properly wash and also to wash the ends as well. Like i think the first few times i washed my hair, i mustn't have washed the ends very well and they still kind of smell um, which is probably common knowledge, but because i had fairly short-ish hair, like my natural hair, is down to here. Usually, when i wash my hair, it all kind of gets accumulated into the lather anyway, but because the hair is so long now when i wash it. Obviously it's not all on top of my head, so i'm having to like wash the lengths and stuff um. So yeah - and i kind of have put this in the wrong place, but a good thing about having weaving hair extensions because i've got the rooted option um the way i style, my hair. You can't really tell that i've got extensions in so i will either wear it down like this with a center parting. I do often wear my hair in plaits and you can't really see the tracks at the back um, but even if you could, i wouldn't really care you can also wear your hair up and the way i wear my hair up, you can't see the tracks as Well, i know a lot of hair extensions like it's really easy to see the tracks, because they're all dotted all over the place, whereas with weavings you've just got to be mindful of two different areas and make sure they're covered um. But i guess, if you don't have the rooted option, they may show through a little bit more because you literally have a line of hair all around the back of your head. It'S not like individual little places um! So honestly, i feel like that's it like. I will probably keep these for about a year like i'll, basically keep this hair until it is no longer usable - and i might consider getting another set after that - but like i'm hoping to kind of go more of my natural color and hopefully by then my hair, Will be long enough, but yeah? I hope this video has been some help for you. If you are considering getting hair extensions, i would definitely recommend it. Do your research, um and just kind of be careful you do have to take care of your hair. It'S not very high maintenance at all, because i'm not a high maintenance person, but if you neglect your hair, if you don't brush it, if you don't wash it properly, if you don't dry it properly, you will get like mats and just horrible things going on. So it's all about how much care you put in but yeah. Thank you for watching this video um. Sorry, it's been so kind of like all over the place, but i just kind of wanted to get this out and i hadn't written a script or anything beforehand. Yeah, thank you for watching
